General

Let’s get one thing straight, this man is a BIIIIIIG softy, so he is good at giving big bear hugs, if you need a hug, he is the man

You have DEFINITELY met his dad already, at first he had doubts about you but you won him over

He would ask you to bake a cake one day, but you ended up causing a fire that almost burned down the monastery if Nya wasn’t there so Wu forbid you from cooking ever again

He has definitely told you about his mother and any other secrets he has

As a normal citizen

You probably met him on some of the ninja adventures and let’s just say it was a “He fell first, she fell harder”

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, soooo many hugs he might look mean but he is actually a big softy, he gives the best bear hugs ever

If you’re good at cooking, he will watch as you cook and always ask “what does that do?”

He would send you letters, with flowers, he is probably the most softest when it comes to the ninja

So much time spent at your apartment that your neighbours even know him “Oh Cole? Yeah you just missed him”

If your a baker or work at a bakery he has won the jackpot, who doesn’t love food and their lover

If you do work at a bakery he would come by so often and sometimes even with the ninja who also love everything you bake, especially Kai

You guys rarely argue but if you do, it’s about something serious

No you wouldn’t train together, because he is so selfless he does not want to hurt you, it has happened before and he doesn’t want you to get hurt again

So much video game references from both of you in middle of battle

He eventually learns to sing, since you guys have bets and you bet that if Zane is the ice emperor then he would learn to sing

As I mentioned before, he loves to watch you cook

He think you are the most beautiful person to ever exist

I would like to offer this resource for therians, an extensive list of all of Sir David Attenborough’s nature documentaries that are available on soap2day, and a full list of what species* they each (notably, prominently) feature the natural behaviors of, separated by episode, and omitting species that were only shown dead, juvenile or being predated on. This took me a while (I have been working on it since Prehistoric Planet’s release) because I did in fact have to watch every single series in full in order to list all the species and the episodes are around 50 minutes long, but enjoy.

Most of these shows have closed captioning, which is why I’ve picked soap2day. Planet Earth is the only one that doesn’t. I did not include Dynasties and Dynasties II because each episode only features one species.

Sparia (Spare-ee-uh) - Your homeland, a highly traditional kingdom. Ruled by a monarch, with you as the heir to the throne. Magic is expected to be used only in ceremonial settings, and most citizens have never left the island. This is your old home.

Sacred Sea - A sea of legend, the Sacred Sea has perpetually calm waters. Rumor has it that when the waves stir up, disaster is about to befall the neighboring lands.

Solador - Notable locations: Dawnholde Institute for the Arcane. The land is constantly under a solar eclipse for an unknown reason. Very little flora can grow here.

Ormrgrad (Or-mer-grad) - Home to many dragonkin and ruled by the Emperor and Empress. The Emperor presides over the north, and the Empress, the south. Notable locations: Ormrgrad City, the capital. On the border of the north and south regions. Caidrith was born in the city to the royal family.

Northern Ormrgrad - Snowy and mountainous, few dragonkin make their home here, but the ones who do are very resilient. Many true dragons live in the far north.

Southern Ormrgrad - The desert region of Ormrgrad. Most dragonkin live here, as well as ground-dwelling dragons. Oases with settlements are scattered throughout.

Leodosan Wilds (Leo-doe-san) - A sparsely inhabited area with few cities, the Leodosan Wilds are home to most earth and water elementals. The few fae that reside outside the Fae Wilds are mainly benevolent, however, the farther south you travel, the more hostile the inhabitants become. Cere lived here prior to coming to Dawnholde.

Entrance to the Hells - The cave that leads to the first layer of the Hells. Many lesser infernals live in the tunnel network.

Fae Wilds - Birthplace of all fae creatures, though not all choose to stay there. The land is brimming with magic and the capital city is Islahaer.

Islahaer (Ee-la-hair) - The capital of the Fae Wilds. Many elves also live here, in addition to the few remaining humans from the Lost City of Echoport. Desily hails from here.

The Tainted Lands - Notable Locations: The Lost City of Echoport. An old, plague-ridden human kingdom. Few creatures live here now, and most of those who do are in constant quarantine. Rycharde was training to be a knight before the city closed its gates.

Lake of Lucidity - The lake in which all rivers in the area flow to.

Defiant Deep - The northern sea, filled with ancient monsters and deep sea merfolk. Few ships that set sail here reach their destination.

Ocean of Benevolence - Notable Locations: Merdae (Mer-day). The warmer, southern ocean that many civilized merfolk call home. Includes the royal capital, Merdae. Most merfolk in the capital are very rich, but the farther away from the capital they live, the less they have. Merrick comes from a small town 10 miles from the city.

Aiszuth (Ice-zooth) - A run-of-the-mill human city with a thriving criminal underworld. The governor may appear to maintain power, but the true power belongs to the necromancers of the Undercity. Finch comes from the most renowned lineage of necromancers.

The True Dragons in this AU are members of a Royal family from a planet known as Central. Each member has a special power, these are more powerful than most other abilities.

However, these abilities come with the cost of being really hard to control. High risk, High reward type of stuff. They also can live for a stupidly long time (As long as they don't die lmao.) Most of them are also really arrogant, which is exploited a lot by both their friends and foes.

They are also all known to be hot too, lol.

Special Power: Cronos (The Powers of Earth and Shit)

(Weakness: He's the youngest and has very little control over his powers, he can only do very basic moves) (So much so nobody knows what the true drawbacks to his powers are yet)

Oh yeah, I failed to mention. None of them are powerful enough to beat the Prototype, he’s far stronger than them.

Thinking about those time travel/animal au’s, and now I’m thinking about Desmond as an emperor dragon from flight rising, (it’s basically a zombie/Frankenstein hydra, if u don’t know what it is) also maybe each head represents a different ancestor and the older the ancestor, the more decayed the head (example: Altair would be mostly skeletal with some mummified flesh, but des himself would be mostly intact except the bad burns.)

It should also be noted that, this kind of emperor dragon should have at least four heads with different elements.

We’ll go with the usual dragon!Desmond setup and he becomes pretty much the keeper of the Apple, growing close to Altaïr and even managing to change the past enough that the tragedy of the Ibn-La'Ahads does not come to pass. When Altaïr dies, he dies surrounded by family, having said his goodbye to Desmond beforehand. Desmond flies away, taking Altaïr’s Apple with him, to grieve his death and to celebrate the life he lived. Then… he starts getting this itch in on his neck. Like, it’s so itchy that he just starts scratching it.

Then his nails dug too deep and something starts gushing from the wound he just made. It looked… like whiteish fluids mixed with blood??? Like, it’s super gross and Desmond is going “Oh fuck! Oh shit! What the fuck!” because it’s still gushing.

Then…

Something starts moving underneath Desmond’s skin, wiggling and… ewewewewewew

Until something longer and larger than his head burst out of the wound, a loud piercing scream erupting from it that makes Desmond scream his head off in horror because this FEELS LIKE SOME HORROR SHIT WHAT THE FUCK!

Just when Desmond wondered if he was going be killed from the inside by a parasite, the thing shook the remaining white fluid and Desmond realized it was a dragon head, not the same as his but definitely dragon-shaped. The dragon head turned to look at him and blinked its golden eyes that Desmond recognized immediately.

Altaïr’s voice was full of confusion as he asked, “Desmond? Why… why am I still alive?”

Unorganized Notes:

Okay, I had to read this up in the wiki so please excuse me if I make any mistakes but each dragon head has a different ‘element’ which I am assuming is connected to their ‘flight’. As such, their elements would be the following:

Altaïr: It was a toss-up between Light and Arcane to be honest because Arcane is curious dragons who like to know the unknown while Light is the most scholarly and holds the pursuit of the truth. In the end, the fact that Light Dragons have golden eyes made me choose Light Dragon for Altaïr.

Ezio: Ezio would probably be Earth as he is the most ‘stable’ of the four, creating a legend that last ages. But Nature is also a good fit to show how Ezio truly thrived as a nurturer during his time as the mentor of the Italian Brotherhood.

Ratonhnhaké:ton: I think Lightning would be a good fit for Ratonhnhaké:ton, especially when we remember how he refuses to compromise the way people wish him to. He wants to change the world and, really, everything he did had an impact that everyone had to adapt to.

Desmond: Honestly, Desmond was meant to have the light flight but, since I gave that to Altaïr, Desmond is now the Arcane dragon, because of how Arcane dragons pursue their dreams, often oblivious to the effects of their actions which works well with Desmond’s mission to give his ancestors a better fate without thinking of the butterfly effect (or not caring)

Possible dragon head candidates: Edward (Wind - carefree and free), Haytham (Ice maybe? Shadow would have been a good candidate but Haytham isn’t fickle and Plague would have worked to show how the tragedy of his past shaped him but he's not savage enough to fight those like him)

The idea is that they’re an immortal dragon that sorta becomes a legend among the Assassins and Templars.

This would also have them meet Arno and the Frye twins, acting like their guides… contradicting guides at times but guides nonetheless.

They are also the guardians (hoarders) of POEs. And really, it’s a bad idea to try and get the POEs they guard.

They do start to decay the ‘older’ they get (except Desmond) but, for some reason, they never end up becoming fully skeletal which is weird. Underneath their skin are lightly glowing lines that matches the lines of the Isus so definitely Isu BS.

Dragonic Weapons Stats

Fastest Flyer to Slowest Flyer

Jay - Can fly faster than a jet, or even be as fast as lightning if he so chooses. His wings and tail have perfect aerodynamic shaping, allowing him for sharp turns and acrobatic skills that are unmatched.

Kai - Not nearly as fast as Jay but still decently quick in flight! Though his tail isn’t necessarily made for quick flight, it doesn’t stop him from trying to catch up to the lightning ninja.

Zane - His wings and tail shape don’t allow for very fast maneuvers or flight.

Cole - Very, very slow compared to the others. He’s much faster on the ground, as his tail and wings are too bulky to allow for fast flight.

Strongest to Weakest (Physically)

Cole - Is this a surprise? The element of earth is so sturdy and only allows for manipulation if it so chooses.

Zane - Ice likes to pretend it’s fragile; in actuality, it can clear that of the oceans and even land.

Kai - His strength is relatively close to Zane’s, but he often likes to rely on quick bursts of fire rather than strength.

Jay - Physically the weakest of all the ninja. Lightning is a powerful element, but it’s a rare phenomena that appears and disappears just as quickly.

Most Unstable (Elementally)

Jay - Lightning is unpredictable and cannot be tamed. It is the poster child of pure chaos at its finest. This translates to Jay’s emotional state. Ever since fusing with his golden weapon, he can have……outbursts of insanity if not reeled back in by Lloyd.

Cole - Surprisingly, Cole has become unstable since merging with his weapon. Though he still has his calm, tough guy attitude, he has feelings of wanting the earth to swallow up the humans that have hurt him. The call of the earth is something that no one really knew about until he became Earth as a whole.

Kai - Though he is fire, his devotion to Lloyd does help in reigning in his more….sadistic nature of wanting to consume all matter with himself. It’s a slippery slope that he is able to manage semi-well.

Zane - Ice is solid, cold, but logical. Even being one with his element, Zane keeps his calm demeanor, though that could be because of his time as the Ice Emperor. He knows how he should not let his ice overtake his own thought process.

Devotion/Loyalty (to the Green Ninja)

Kai - The big brother of the Green Ninja, he takes his role as weapon/protector very serious. He is Lloyd’s trusted weapon when in elemental form, and the one that will make sure Lloyd is protected at all costs.

Cole, Zane, Jay - The rest are almost as loyal as Kai but there is that little nagging feeling of wanting to be wielded by a new master, though they are always able to quiet that part of themselves. After all, Lloyd is their little brother.

Oldest to Youngest

Zane - This nindroid doesn’t even know how old he is. But more than likely, he’s in his mid thirties (but looks early twenties).

Cole - 22 Years Old. He’s older than Kai by a few months.

Kai - 22 Years Old. Younger than Cole by a few months

Jay - 19 (Close to being 20). Youngest of the OG ninja, though still older than Lloyd. He is a little older than Nya by a few months.

ok tma/flight rising fans discussion time. which fear do you think each deity/flight best represents

like some are super easy to categorize, ie Ice is 100% Hunt, but some are tricky to think about

I’d say Plague could be both Corruption/Flesh, but leans more toward Flesh because of the whole “keep evolving and changing to survive/survival of the fittest” elements

Shadow may seem to be Dark on the surface but I’d go out on a limb and say it’s more Stranger? Like the whole trickery stuff is more in line with it and their elemental holiday is literally a circus too

Lightning I think hits the middle point between Buried and Vast pretty well. Buried because of the whole Work Till You Drop part and the pressure from that, and Vast because it’s literally called The Shifting Expanse. Plus do you think one dragon matters in mr Stormdad’s plans? Very Vast stuff

Wind is also probably Vast but I feel like if they got evil with it they could probably be Spiral too y’know?

Arcane and Light are both Eye but in different ways I think. Arcane is obviously more about research or I Have To Know side of it, but I think Light is more about the actual watching part (like how the Lightweaver just kinda. watched the whole emperor thing happen and didn’t do anything about it really)

I think Earth might be End? I’m gonna be real I don’t know enough about Earth’s lore to make a call here I just think the aesthetics match up

The ones I’m having a hard time classifying are Fire, Nature, and Water bc they don’t really match up with any of the fears in a major way. Like yeah you could probably say Fire = Desolation and Nature = Hunt but I feel like there’s more to the fears and the flights than that, and that’s just a very surface level take?? Idk

What are Relics?

Alright, I'll speedrun the explanation.

The Goddess used her own blood to create her children, who would come to be known as the Nabateans. The Nabateans are dragons who can turn into humans. Rhea, one of these Nabateans, explains what the Relics are.

"The same is true of the Crests of the 10 Elites and the other Crest Stones... They were born of the blood and hearts of the progenitor god's children." - Rhea

The Crest Stones are their hearts, and the Relics are their bones.

Now, lets take a look at the Heroes Relics, their associated crest, what dragon they are, what their Nabatean Title is, and what arcana they belong to.

Why is the Aegis Shield not made out of the Aegis Dragon??

One could assume that Sothis is a Divine Dragon.

The Immaculate One is called The White One in Japanese.

Okay, so what exactly is this post about? I just told you their origins, right? Yes, but I like to ramble. That means that I'll also be talking about which body part the Relics are potentially made out of, and what animal the dragon form could've looked like.

Let's unpack!

Crusher

Crusher Dragon

That's a lot of fingers. It's like the hands have been crushed together. What kind of animal even has bones like that? I don't know.

Aegis Shield

Shield Dragon

Is that a face? There are two eye sockets and a mouth that has been melted shut. It even has the part that normally shows a crest on it. Maybe it has been flattened to work better as a shield, or maybe the Shield Dragon's head was always a bit flat?

What about the back of the shield?

Look at that. It's like it has been fused together with the breastbone. What if it's made out of the chest of the Shield Dragon? It could've had a shield there. But where are the ribs?

Maybe it's a mix of both? The face/head is used as the front of the shield, with the breastbone making it more sturdier.

From this angle, it looks like it's smiling!

Or maybe it's trying to scream.

Lúin

Flame Dragon

When I saw this, the first thought that came to my mind was "That's a weird bird."

You've got the hole for the eye and a massive beak. And hey, what animal better fits the "Flame Dragon" than something like a phoenix? Sure, it might be flat, but who doesn't flatten a skull when turning it into a spearhead?

It could also be something like a fang or the femur that has been sharpened. Who knows?

Areadbhar

Grim Dragon

It looks like a very, very long hand. What animal has a hand like that? Well, usually aquatic animals do. Think of dolphins.

Or even a mosasaur!

Look at those hand bones!

This animal was said to be very powerful, and would fit with both the Strength Arcana and the grim concept. Grim can also mean things like ferocious and ruthless. It doesn't always have to mean something gloomy. And even then, it could still work with this extinct creature.

And hey, it's an aquatic animal. It fits quite well with the 'Blue' part of the Blue Lions , and Dimitri could be the Lion.

Of course, you can also argue that the Grim dragon looked like a lion and that Areadbhar was made out of its ribs. These ribs could be fused together to make a spearhead.

Thyrsus

Craft Dragon

Spine! Those are vertebrae with spikes coming out of them. For some reason it's bent around the Crest Stone. I am not sure what the bottom part of the bone is. It doesn't look like any bone I know.

Not sure what the Craft Dragon looked like. All I know is that it probably had some spikes.

Freikugel

The Kalpa Dragon! Now, before we look at the mutilated corpse, you need to know what Kalpa actually means.

(in Hindu and Buddhist tradition) an immense period of time, reckoned as 4,320 million human years, and considered to be the length of a single cycle of the cosmos (or ‘day of Brahma’) from creation to dissolution.

Got it? Good! Lets look at the relic.

That looks like a sail! Now, you might say that no sail in existence has bones between the spikes. That makes no sense. That's soft tissue or something, not bone.

But yeah that's it. It's made out of the sail of the Kalpa Dragon. What animal does the Kalpa dragon look like? No clue. Let me just type "Animals with sails" in Google Search..

Alright. A Dimetrodon, a Sailfish, a Spinosaurus, an Edaphosaurus, and a whole lot more.

I would say that one of the dinosaurs fits best. Mainly because Kalpa means an immense period of time. There were no dinosaurs around 4320 million years ago, but you get the idea.

Of course, you could also say that the Kalpa Dragon looked like any other dragon and just had a sail. That's also possible. I mean, look at the picture of the dragon from Echoes. That thing even has horns and everything! If you were to take the sail from it, you wouldn't know that it looks like a pretty normal dragon.

Reminder

This entire post is speculation. The Heroes Relics aren't enough to say what the original dragon could've looked like. They only gives us bits and pieces. A relic might've had a feature that is seen in one animal, but it can still look like a completely different animal even with that feature.

Areadbhar might be a hand, but that doesn't necesarrily mean that it looked like a marine reptile. Maybe it looked like a fusion between a lion and a mosasaur. Maybe it just takes a little inspiration here and there. They are still dragons in the end, even if they might have the features of some normal animals.

I probably should've made this clearer at the start of the post, but I believe that my explanation works best with the image I have shown earlier.

In short, the Relics may be made out of a body part that usually belongs to a certain type of animal, but it can still look completely different from that animal. What I come up with is pure speculation.

Yeah... I don't know what animal this could even be. It's the Ice Dragon. What ice-related animals look like they have hands like that?

I have no idea.

Lance of Ruin

Fissure Dragon

The spearhead could be made out of another bone like the fang, tailbone or another spike.

What about the spikes? Are they fangs?

Well, Miklan turned into a Black Beast, which gives us the chance to examine him. The shape of demonic beasts are nearly always the same, so we won't be looking at that. Instead, we'll be looking at the more unique features of this Black Beast. Take a look.

Those spikes coming out of its back look like the spikes on the Lance of Ruin. It also has 'rocks' covering its back.

This part looks like the vertebrae with the spikes still attached to it. You may notice that there are more than one attached to one vertebrae. This isn't the case with Miklan, but he isn't exactly a carbon copy of the Fissure Dragon.

I believe that the Fissure Dragon had multiple spikes on its back protruding next to each other, much like a Kentrosaurus.

If you were to look at it from above, it would look somewhat like a fissure. Other features of the Fissure Dragon would likely be that it's covered in black scales or 'rocks' like on Miklan's Black Beast form.

It might also have wings. Why do I say this?

Compare that to the Immaculate One's little back sail.

It says that it's used to mantain stability in flight. This could mean that Miklan's Black Beast form simply doesn't have a fully formed sail yet.

Before I move on. I have no clue what this text says, and I would appreciate it if someone could translate.

Google Translate says something like "If you get transformed by a Heroes Relic, a part of your body will be covered in armor. This is because there is a component of the bone used for the blade." or something like that.

wait wait wait hold up

before FR staff publishes any new lore or about about the suspected Arcane Ancient, i NEED to say my fanlore story NOW

i've never gotten around to properly typing it, but i have bits and pieces around my lair lore project all over my lair and den, as well as snippets here on my blog and on my discord. and in notebooks and sketchbooks i'm sure. i'm getting so energetically defensive right now because i've literally had this story in my head and heart for YEARS, and it is TERRIFYING to see how similar it's going to sound now that i'm typing out a summary as fast as i can, to "Look! A shooting star!"

my lair's lore...literally begins like that

there is a meteor approaching the ground of sorienth, and it collides into a great, vast land of one of the floating crystalline terra, and this floating terra explodes into many gigantic shards. these shards were shot across the land in sorienth, each shard piercing the ground in several areas:

shard 1 (the arcaned shard): a smallish-medium sized shard in the less dense zone of the starwood strand some distance away from the Archive

shard 2 (the macabre shard): a large shard the land between Wispwillow Grove and the Emperor's Wake, on the Tangle Wood's side before the staircase before Luminax

shard 3 (the scorched shard): a medium-large shard some distance southeast of Cinderslag, towards the Emberglow Hearth and slightly nearing the Shifting Expanse

shard 4 (the woodland shard): a medium shard hitting just outside a [fanmade] town on the nature's domain, close to the earth's domain. the town has a bridge on the outskirts that bridges nature and earth together, and traveler's and merchant's passage that is kept peaceful. north of the Everbloom Gardens on the main continent.

shard 5 (the hollows shard): about halfway between the Zephyr Steppes and Singer's Brook, slightly more towards the Steppes

shard 6 (the glaciered shard): near an icy crystalized castle-esque mansion kept by an icy prince, on a [fan] claimed ice floe of many acres that has access to the sea shared between the Southern Icefield, the Windswept Plateau, and the Ashfall Waste.

shard 7 (the decomposing shard):

i was planning to have one or two more shards. i started to plan out shard 8, but i forget where i wrote it, where i wanted it to have landed, its theme, etc.

at the crash site, the largest shard of the meteorite remained. where it had pierced the earth, it began to pulsate a powerful magical energy that began to interact with the earth it touched. it happened to have collided with an old, old, oooold fae's nest, long left behind and left for the wild to reclaim, but the wild of the starwoods had not yet decomposed the shards of an egg that had hatched, long, long ago. as the meteorite pulsed and hummed, the shards of the egg began to find it self back together, slowly wiggling and scooting back to one another. each little piece within enough distance of the meteorite. where there were pieces that must have been blown away and otherwise eroded, crystalspine, crystal rocks, minerals, and other bits of geology filled in the gaps. the shell of an egg crept its way back to fuse together...and had bored its way down, down, down beneath the meteorite, that had pierced into a small cavern under the land. now a unified, solid object partially built with rock and minerals, it sank down onto the cavern floor, soft metallic sand catching its fall and insulating it.

(earlier, before the crash...) a young guardian dragon, nomadic and native to Scarred Wasteland, had left his family/clan/pack long ago to wander. he had stayed at his childhood pack for decades, watching each of his littermates, younger siblings, and cousins of all kinds grow and gain their spark for each of their guardian pilgrimages, but he, none to follow. a more gentle, patient, calmer, more observant dragon than the most of his plague family. after watching and waiting as each of his chaotic siblings grow and reach their epiphanies for decades, he bid his pack goodbye and became a wanderer, depressed, but quietly optimistic that perhaps he needed to stir something within him, travel to induce his Search. a couple years have gone, when one night as he wandered by the coast of where the Scarred Wasteland and the Windswept Plateau converged, he looked up at the starry sky, idly gazing, and then a particularly bright and twinkling star seemed to be growing brighter with a streaking tail following behind it. a falling star? as he began to understand that something was falling from the sky and was about to strike the earth, he felt his heart beating faster, harder, livelier. in fact, he had never felt more alive in his life. he packed up his small camp and began to follow this star, towards the Starfall Isles, a land he had been too hesitant to approach until now. his body full of jubilant energy, his wings stretching with a new kind of air, his bones feeling lighter, as if full of radiant light itself. he flew for days without a break, not even for food or water. he was still flying in the sky as he watched this great meteorite strike the ground, and kept flying until the knockback of the collision wave finally met his being, knocking him back and onto the ground. the initial wave just knocked him onto the ground with some bumps and bruises. as he shook himself off and stood back up, he could see the second wave bringing a massive wall of dust and debris coming. his heart leaped with joy but his gut sank with fear. he knew, deep down, that this is where his heart wanted to go, that whatever this star had brought him would bring his purpose in life, but this massive dust cloud was dangerous. he had had no rest, no food, no water for days, and that worried him deeply. but he could feel in his chest that he had the energy and vigor to go in. he leapt back into the air to fly a short while longer, before the dust became to great to fly. he landed onto the ground, unable to see the land before him as the mixture of dust, rock, contagion, blue leaves and petals, and threads of membranes were being swept passed him and against him. he persisted. the dust and contagion dried out any hydration left on the outside of his body and scratched against him, scraping against his face and into his eyes. even if he had water left in his eyes, it would not be enough to blink out. his eyes stung deep into his head as his vision blackened, unable to see, and permanently losing his sight. he could only navigate with the direction of his heart and through the touch of his toes. and yet, he persisted.

he could not tell how long it must have been that he had been walking, fighting against the aftershock of the collision. the pads of his feet ached so deeply that they were numb. his beard was caked with mixture of the debris. he could feel his body thin as a skeleton, malnourished, but eerily the fibers of his muscles and bones still strong and determined enough to just, keep, crawling, forward.

he could not tell how much time had passed, only that it was a long time before the rumble of the aftershock began to decline, and sudden, halt. frozen in time. the air felt as still as a vacuum. terrifying, he thought, and he could not stop his feet from wanting to move forward. there was no sound to be heard other than his own movement and the gray noise around him, until he touched something new:

his paw touched a new kind of grass that he had not felt before, that was long and luscious enough to softly poke between his toes. and the absence of noise now filling with the sounds of wildlife, though of wildlife he was unfamiliar with. he knew what birdsong was like, and the sound of wind rushing over plants. he could feel and he could hear, but as he tried to blink the crust from his eyes, he could not. the lids to his eyes simply ached too much to push the dirt and dust off.

though he still felt alive enough to press forward, he finally began to feel the effect of fatigue and lack of nourishment. he ached in more ways he could count, but his heart sang in his mind to keep moving forward, that he had come so far and done so well to have survive, and that he will rest, soon.

so soon, in fact, that the ground beneath him betrayed him, a hole in the ground. he had just enough momentum in his step and not enough strength in his muscles to stop himself from tumbling down an awkward, rocking slope, into a hole in the ground large enough to house him. he tumbled, feeling pathetic that he had lost the traction under his feet as he rolled down a steady gentle slope underground. as he inevitable came to a stop, he let himself lie there for a moment to breathe, to feel if there was anything broken.

his lungs continued. his heart continued, singing the grandest melody he had ever felt. whatever he had found, his Search, was now over. his legs could no longer hold him up, his wings hardly able to cover his body as a blanket. he trembled with these movements, but found himself at peace. his lungs continued, and he fell asleep for the first time in...days? weeks? months?

he could not tell how much time had passed when his eyes began to open. no pain, no strain. his eyes strong and hydrated, but there was something new about his vision. a soft neon pink now gently lit the features of his skull around his eyes. a gentle pink glow on his brow bones, his cheek bones, his snout and the bumps under his lip where his teeth sheathed. his eyes adjusted to the new light, and he felt well enough to lift his head and neck, to lift up his wings and tuck them onto his back, to lift himself upright just with his front arms.

his heart sang: You have done well. You have reached your reward. Look.

nestled away in a soft blanket of dust, a soft glowing orb peeked out. its light steadily swirled with blue, violet, pink, and magenta glitz and gleams, almost cosmic. he felt his heart swoon and lifted himself up to walk over to the orb, the colors and glimmer speeding up as he moved and approached. he brushed away some of the dust, examining, what this orb was... and deep inside, a dark violet, fluid-like object bounced. an egg?

My chrysalis. I need my chrysalis. Please, pick me up and take me to my chrysalis.

His heart gave a hard thump once in his chest, then once in his ears. Then once in his feet, and then under his feet, in the floor below him... No, not below... The walls thumped with a strong, but slow heartbeat. A pulse. He took a slow and deep breath in, and the cave room pulsed again through the walls, through his feet, through his body, into his head. It seemed to be coming from something behind him, but this cavern room was nearly completely dark, except for the glow he could somewhat see on his face, and the radiant glow from the egg on the ground.

I have cleaned your eyes. Can you see? You should be able to find my chrysalis behind you. It is bigger than you.

With a slow turn of his head, he could begin to seem something massive, and polished like glass, only barely noticeable by the faint glow of two dragon eyes, and an arcane egg. He had only ever heard of glass this lustrous when the lightning meets the sands of the Shifting Expanse.
