Assigning random PJO characters book series from my childhood because I’m feeling nostalgic. These are all illogical and merely based on vibes (most of them probably wouldn’t enjoy reading that much because of dyslexia and ADHD… but eh)
Silena - Dork Diaries. Totally.
Chris - Diary of a wimpy kid. Say what you will about that damned book series, but I must honor my very brief interest in it somehow (sorry, Chris)
Annabeth - Warrior Cats! She would have loved it at 8 years old or so, and Luke would have managed to get them for her to read.
Charles - The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. (My beloved)
Piper - Those graphic novels by Raina Telgemeier I think, I loved them as a kid.
Ethan - …also Warrior Cats. Idk it just fits.
Katie - Magic tree house. I guess
Clovis - Those animal books by Holly Webb. You know the ones
I’ll add some more later, bye y’all

I’m curious about stuff again specifically for people who like to read.
I put both girls and boys just to see if there’s a difference. And if you are trans or genderqueer please do think as to what gender you considered yourself at the age you started reading and not your current chosen gender.

I might’ve gotten a bit sick and under poor health these past few days too- so, I had to hold off the book haul until today and let me just say — I love these books a little too much. But oh well!
Tumblr media
This one was an impulse buy but given I never fully read the series as a kid, I figured why not get it now? Even if it is a graphic novel! It looked cool!
Tumblr media
This one felt like a Scooby Doo esque book, and I just got sold by the description in the back. So, another small impulse buy!
Tumblr media
I’ve been wanting this book for AGES, and now I finally have it! Who knows, maybe this time I finally finish my Secret Quartet AU (and Project Zero) though to be fair, I have health issues so-
Tumblr media
AND THE ONE I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! This one is wild— like oh my god. You’re in for a real treat (no spoilers, I just started reading it but ahhhhh)
Tumblr media
Full lineup! I am SO excited for all of these!

Y'know a thought that keeps occurring to me?
How has no one ever made an animated Magic Tree House series?
It's a perfect format. Each book is a self-contained adventure, with the Merlin books having an overarching plot thread. It's educational but not boring. You'd never have to worry about Jack and Annie or anyone aging out of their roles. The only complication I see is that it would be tricky to keep up with the location shifts and the different background/extras, but I'm sure there's ways to do it without blowing the budget or overworking the animators. There is so much source material—the latest book was published in September! Plus, all the kids that grew up on Magic Tree House are all adults now, so you've got a built-in audience of people who loved the books as kids and would want to share the series with their kids.
I'm honestly surprised PBS has never done it, it would've fit right in between stuff like Cyber Chase and Liberty's Kids. It's perfect Saturday morning cartoon material, with an extra bit of educational stuff sprinkled in.
(This post was brought to you by me browsing ebooks for something, seeing one of the MTH books on sale, and being mentally slapped by the idea again)

for the ask game, 🎧 and 🦖 :]
hi hello mystic!!!!!! ty for the questions :))
headphones or earbuds?: I’m a headphones girlie, always will be. I only have one working ear so im placebo-effecting myself into believing that they’re somehow less likely to make me go deaf. Also I’ve just always liked them, they’re my favorite. They’re really comfortable, they’re cosy, etc
(The person who removed headphone jacks from iPhones, I’m COMING FOR YOU. I’m gonna hit you with a hammer and also bite you. Get fucked)
Favorite extinct animal: ….do early humans count? Probably not, but ily earlier versions of us anyway 🫶🫶🫶
Uhhhhh there’s prolly one I was obsessed with as a kid that I’m blanking on now, but I simply do not remember. I’m a dinosaur fan but I’m unfortunately basic about it 😭😭😭, and I’d have to say a brontosaurus. I’ve always like pterodactyls beecause of the magic tree house books.
(This is all despite the opabinia propaganda spread by my very good friend @isopodcreature which I mean. Love you opabinia. But dinosaour)
