SWEAT GATHERED ALONG HIS BROW, small pants escaping his lips as he limped toward the entrance/exit of the Maze. He had injured himself last week but was trying his best to not let it get to him. Some of the other runners were behind Y/n, all of them wondering how he were still faster than them with a hurt leg. "Almost there guys. Minho's group is meeting us in the map room." He called out behind him.
He exited the maze, noticing Alby talking to someone he didn't recognize at first glance. However, when he got closer to the person, he halted in his steps before he almost fell to the ground. He ushered the other runners to go ahead of him so that he could talk to Alby. "What's up, Shuckface?" He slung an arm around the (taller/shorter) male, all while trying to inconspicuously study the new boy.
"I told you not to call me that, Runaway."
Y/n looked up at him with a soft — yet joking — glare before he looked back at the Greenie. He was (taller/shorter) than Y/n for sure, his eyes were a light blue and several freckles and moles were scattered across his face. His hair was a mixture of being black and brown. He was really good looking.
"Who's this?" Y/n asked, hoping the Greenie would answer rather than Alby. He could sense that the Greenie was hesitant on answering him but Y/n gave him a reassuring look that said he could tell him. "Thomas. My names Thomas."
Y/n gave an amused hum but soon something came rushing through him. He had to hold his head and squeeze his eyes shut. Thomas looked to Alby with wide eyes. He was confused.
"This happens sometimes. Go get Newt, Greenie." Thomas simply nodded before hurriedly running off to find the British boy he had become aquatinted with already. Newt was standing by the gardens, talking animatedly with one of the other Gladers as Thomas approached him. He was slightly out of breath but the blonde still understood what he was trying to tell him.
Y/n lay on the ground now, his eyes wide with what appeared to be either fear, recollection, or both. His chest rose and fell heavily while Alby was squatted next to him, trying to get him to calm down. He wouldn't though.
Scattered memories were making their way through his surface but there was one that just stuck out to him. It was one of the same ones he had the first day in the Glade.
A lady peers down at him, her blonde hair creating a halo that made the younger him think she was to be an angel - only if she hadn't been the one prodding him with needles - and a smile that seemed to be unsettling yet sweet, and comforting at the same time. "Y/n? Can you hear me?" He felt himself nod and before he even had the chance to utter a word, another needle was stuck into his skin and the lady brushed a baby hair away from his face.
“Good. That's good. You won't be down there for too long. Thomas – he'll come down soon after. You won't remember him but that’s the whole point. All you have to remember, Y/n, is that Wicked is good."
"Y/n, never forget. Wicked is good."
Y/n shuddered, moving to sit on his knees with his head between his hands. Shocked gasps fell from his lips and even Newt couldn't calm the (e/c) eyed boy down when he finally came over. When a certain name came from the boy, Alby whipped his head to Thomas, his eyes holding a burning fire. "You. Talk to him."
Thomas pointed to himself confusedly to which Alby rolled his eyes. "Yes you, slinthead! Talk to him."
Thomas didn't know what he would be able to accomplish by talking to Y/n but he was already on Alby's bad side, he didn't want to get deeper in it. So, the blue eyed boy crouched down to him and placed a band on his shoulder, prompting him to flinch slightly.
“Uhm hi –" Newt mouthed 'Y/n' and Thomas nodded, "Y/n. It's Thomas. Are you okay?" Y/n shuddered and shook his head. "What's wrong?" Thomas didn't know how to handle this situation; he assumed he wasn't very good at comforting people.
"I - I remember...."
Thomas looked to the others, his exterior still showing that he was confused. Newt placed his hand on Y/n’s other shoulder. "What do you remember Y/n?"
It took him a moment to reply but Y/n spoke with a shaky voice, "Him. I remember Thomas."
———
Y/n lay on one of the makeshift beds in the homestead, completely unconscious. At the end of his bed sat Newt with a frown plastered on his face. His eyebrows were drawn together tightly as he tried to think of why Y/n would be the only one that was able to get his memories back without getting stung, which before him, was the only way anyone could get their memory back, or at least parts of it.
A knock on the wooden door pulled the former Runner from his thoughts and he turned to look at Alby who offered a tight lipped smile to the second in command. He stepped further into the room and behind him came Thomas who was looking rather upset. "What's he doing here?" Newt stood up and looked as if he was about to attack the new Greenie. "Woah, calm down, Newt. He just wanted to come see Y/n." It took the blonde a moment to allow it but he eventually nodded, albeit reluctantly, and settled back at the end of the bed. Newt had been the closest with with Y/n after Nick's death - which hadn't been that long ago - but he was still extremely protective over the boy; just as Nick had been. He was trying to protect him from something that might've as well been way beyond Newt.
Thomas slowly walked over to Y/n’s bed and sat in one of the chairs placed next to it. An idea popped in his head but he didn't want to risk Newt jumping him. Despite his rather small frame, he looked strong and Thomas didn't know what he, himself, looked like so he didn't want to try him. Instead, he spoke his idea to the two leaders.
"What if I touch his hand? I was just thinking that.. maybe whatever he’s thinking could be transferred to me somehow?" He said a little nervously but still tried his best to look them in the eyes. Alby exchanged a look with Newt and the two of them nodded. "Go ahead." Thomas took a deep breath, reaching out and taking Y/n’s hand in his own. It was slightly cold compared to his warm one but he tried to ignore it as he closed his eyes.
Y/n looked up at Thomas with a light hearted smile as he leaned down to whisper something in Y/n’s ear. Thomas didn't know what he had said but it caused a light blush to cross over the other boy’s cheeks. He (stood up on his tip toes/ pulled Thomas down) to brush some of his dark hair away from his forehead so he could see his blue eyes properly. "You know, you're in desperate need of a haircut, Tommy." Thomas saw himself laugh, a genuine laugh as well, which made him wonder how close the two of them really were. Whenever this was.
"But then you can't play with my hair, Y/n/n."
Y/n smiled and (leaned up again/pulled Thomas down) but this time to plant his lips on Thomas’. What came next made Thomas quickly open his eyes. Even though it was him, he felt weird for seeing that, as if it hadn't even been him doing those actions in the first place. "You alright there, Greenie?" Thomas looked up at Alby with a shaky breath.
“Yeah.. Yeah I’m okay.”

Warnings : character's deaths (reader included), guns and gunfire, mention of violent interrogation, maybe some grammatical mistakes as English is not my first language, tell me if you see some or if I missed any warnings.
Word count : 2.7k

French version on Tumblr
In front of the computer, you’re completing your daily tasks : observing Maze A, testing the subjects and writing down the results of today’s experiences. You comply like a robot. You know if you think too much, you’ll realise all the pain you’re inflicting. So you try to keep an emotional distance with the Maze Trials, with the subjects, with your friends. However, some days are harder than others, especially when, first thing in the morning, you get a file with the word “death” written on it. Sometimes you see those deaths live, other times they happen when your work is already over. When you’ve started your day, you didn’t know another person had failed the trial. Anxious, you open the file and read ‘Subject A25 : Nicolas’. Tears form in your eyes in an instant. You close the folder and pretend you need to use the bathroom. You try to sob in silence but if someone listens carefully, they can hear your pain. You’re short of breath everytime you think back to this paper. This paper telling you about the death of your best friend since you were ten. He’s not the first to die but his death is your last straw. You wish you could scream all your despair, but you can’t. You can’t feel anything while working ; for W.I.C.K.E.D, you’re here to find a cure, not to do feelings. Sacrifices need to be made. You can’t forget it. Janson won’t let you. Your tears are stronger when suddenly someone knocks on the door. You stop sobbing, fearing you’ll be discovered. When you hear Thomas’ voice, you open to him. He stays in front of you for a few seconds before daring to talk.
“I read the file. I’m sorry, Y/N.”
“I’m sick of it, Thomas.” you say, angry, “I can’t watch them die anymore. I can’t watch my friends die anymore. I want it to stop ! I know we’re doing it for a good cause, but do we really need to sacrifice all these human lives for a potential cure ? It is not fair.”
“I know.”
“I want to get them out of there. I want us to get them out of there and leave with them, far away from W.I.C.K.E.D. I won’t be able to take another death, Thomas. I… I can’t.” you pronounce with a broken voice.
Ignoring what to say, Thomas takes you in his arms. He hopes he’ll reassure you but he knows in this kind of situation, it’d be an utopia. You’re doomed to see horrors in the hope to save humanity. Nothing he could do or say would help you to get better. He knows it because he tries everyday to reassure himself, in vain.
“We should go.” you resume, breaking your embrace, “Janson is gonna wonder where we are.”
“You’ll be okay ?”
“Will they ?” you retort, eyes full of pain.
Thomas stays silent, knowing he can’t answer your question honestly. You give him one last look, leave the bathroom and go back to your job. Thomas takes a few minutes before going back as well, a neutral expression on his face. As for you, you use your computer as if a few instants before you weren’t overwhelmed by your emotions. You both act like they taught you.
The next few days, you grieve in silence. Thomas stays by your side even though he feels useless. However, he doesn’t realise it but he helps you to not sink because you tell yourself that despite everything, you still have Thomas. You’re not entirely lost. You still have a reason to go on.
During the night, you both leave your respective dormitory, meeting each other in an isolated room in the W.I.C.K.E.D facility, like you always do whenever one of you is feeling down. You don’t do anything special there. You just cuddle, trying to forget the pain of the world and yours. It’s not successful but you’re there for each other. That night, Thomas breaks the silence with important information.
“I know how we can help them.”
“What do you mean ?”
“You remember Doctor Mary ?” he asks and you nod, “She left W.I.C.K.E.D because she didn’t agree with their experiences anymore. She works for the Right Arm now.”
“The Right Arm, the resistance ?” you want to make sure, looking at him.
“Yeah. I think she could delay some of their plans with the information she had but now, she doesn’t have access to it anymore. If we can communicate with her, we can help them. We’ll give the Right Arm everything they’ll need before leaving.” Thomas states, determined.
“How can we find her ? The Right Arm must be untraceable.”
“I started researching when we learned of Nicolas' death. I think I’m about to find them. It’ll be dangerous but we can get our friends out of these mazes. What do you say ?”
“I’m with you.” you accept, without an ounce of hesitation, “I want to bring down W.I.C.K.E.D.”
You look into each other’s eyes, courage taking possession of your body. You have a plan and you’ll make sure you’ll put it into action as soon as possible. Sacrifices have been going on for too long.
Tumblr media
When Thomas has finally found the Right Arm, he lets you know. During the night, you both get in one of the rare rooms where there is a radio to communicate with the outside and start the call. You’re happy to be so close and yet scared that the Right Arm might not trust you.
“Hello ? I’m Thomas, I work for W.I.C.K.E.D and I got information for you.” he starts the conversation without an answer, “Mary ? Are you there ? It’s me Thomas. I can help you.”
You stay silenced for a few moments. Thomas is about to cut the communication off when he hears a feminine voice.
“Thomas ? I’d never thought I’d hear from you. Are you safe ? Are you alone ?”
“Y/N is with me. We want to give you all the information you’ll need to bring down W.I.C.K.E.D. We don’t want to see our friends die anymore.”
“We want it to stop. No one deserves to be in those mazes. We want to save them.” you add with teary eyes.
“Very well. I’m going to talk with the other members of the Right Arm. I’ll call you back tomorrow around the same time to organise ourselves. Keep a low profile.”
“Thanks Mary.”
When the call is over, Thomas puts the radio aside and turns to you. Even though you have to wait for the Right Arm’s approval, you both can’t help but smile. You have Mary’s support. You’ll be able to get out of here.
“Thanks Thomas.” you say, “You’ve given me hope again. I never thought it’d be possible.”
“We’ll do everything to help them. We’ll do it.”
When the Right Arm accepts to collaborate with you, you and Thomas start gathering important data and communicate with them once a week. You and Thomas give only a few to let them get ready without alerting Doctor Paige or worse Janson.
One night, while you’re getting ready to sleep, Teresa takes you aside, with a compassionate smile on her face.
“I heard about Nicolas. I’m sorry.” she states genuinely, “but we can’t forget why we’re doing all of this. We must find a cure. The Flare is becoming deadlier every day.”
“I know,” you answer without any emotion, “I’m going to bed, I’m tired.”
Teresa puts her hand on your arm, showing you her support. You smile slightly at her before going to your bed. Your friend’s words have upset you. You know Teresa doesn’t act meanly. She told you her story with her mom, you know why she desperately wants to find a cure. But for you, it doesn’t justify the fact that people act as if all these deaths didn’t represent anything. They represent something for you : your cowardice, your impotence, your pain, but above all, your privilege to have escaped the Trials.
When Thomas and you started working for the Right Arm, you had thought of letting Teresa know but your doubts had held you back. Your conversation with your friend proved to you, you did the right thing. Teresa wouldn’t have agreed with your actions, no matter if you’re friends. For her, W.I.C.K.E.D is really good.
Tumblr media
Two months passed, Thomas and you have succeeded to forward information without being noticed. The nights where W.I.C.K.E.D have to handle some crisis, you give more details, allowing the Right Arm to perfect their attack plan. You’re still at the facility, waiting for the perfect moment to run away.
One night, Thomas gives the week’s data before joining you in you and Thomas' shared room. Besides being your safe place, it has also become the place where you wait for the other before debriefing.
When Thomas comes into the room, he sits next to you on the ground. You take each other in your arms and stay silent at first, allowing Thomas to release the fear of being found. When his breath is calmer, he draws your attention.
“Next week, we’re leaving this place. I talked about it with Mary and if we give every known place of their facilities and labs, they’ll have enough to bring down W.I.C.K.E.D so we’ll be able to clear off. You’ll take care of forwarding everything and I’ll take care of making sure we have a way out. They’ll be able to save our friends from the Mazes and take us away from this organisation. Everything is settled.”
“Thomas, it’s risky.” you retort, anxious, “We’re lucky we haven’t gotten caught yet. It’d be too much in one go.”
“We have one week to plan everything correctly. I already have some idea of how we can do it. Don’t worry, we’re gonna get outta here.” he assures you, making you think a little more.
“I trust you, Thomas.”
The following week, your plan is ready. It’s still risky but it can work. You've kept an even lower profile to not give Janson any reason to be suspicious. You do exactly what is asked, without showing any rebellious sign.
When the plan has started, you get every file you need to send, it takes longer than usual. Your stress is at its peak while you’re looking at the downloading line. You can’t stop watching around, afraid to be discovered. For Thomas, he’s on his way toward the control centre. He needs to be sure you both will be able to get out of the facility once you're done. He needs to fight some of the guards on the way, he barely handles them. While he’s doing everything to open the doors, the last data is finally transferred to the Right Arm. You sigh in relief and leave the room. You’re careful on your way to the place Thomas told you to go to. When he’s done with everything for your escape, he hears the walkie-talkie of one of the guards he’s knocked down.
“Need backup. One subject out of the dormitory. Information transferred outside. Janson knows about it. Over.”
Panic takes possession of Thomas’ body, he leaves the room running. He doesn’t try to be discreet, he just wants to find you. You both can’t waste another second, it’s now or never to leave. While he’s looking for you, he finds Teresa around a corner.
“Thomas ? What are you doing here ?” she questions.
“I could ask you the same thing.” he answers, trying to hide his stress.
“I’m working with Doctor Paige after my day. Everything alright ? You should be in your dormitory.”
“I… I need to find Y/N.” Thomas admits, not wanting to waste even more time, “Look, we’re getting outta here tonight but she got caught. Help me find her. If you want to follow us or not, that’s up to you but help me. We just want to leave this place. We don’t want all this blood on our hands anymore.”
“Thomas, I don’t-”
“You’re gonna help me or not ?!” he cuts her off, impatiently.
Teresa doesn’t have the time to answer him that guards are already grabbing Thomas and pushing him backward. He tries to fight them while Teresa is watching the scene, shocked. Thomas is being dragged by force in one of the parts of the facility he knows all too well. They’re going to erase his memory and put him in the maze. He can’t let that happen. He needs to fight. He needs to at least make sure you’re safe. The guards tighten their grip on the teenager, preventing him from moving. When they arrive in the room, they tie him down on a stretcher before ejecting him a product, making him fall asleep instantly. Thomas is changed while he gets more injections, Janson looking at everything they're doing to him. As for you, you’re being interrogated violently. They want to know where the Right Arm is hiding. You stay silent at every punch. You try to recover from an umpteenth hit when you quickly hear a walkie-talkie. One of the guards takes you by the arm and forces you to walk. You don’t look where you’re going, too exhausted. Nothing has importance anymore. You got caught. You won’t be able to escape. You’ll be put on high surveillance or you’ll be sent into the Maze. You only hope Thomas was luckier than you. When you arrive in the room with the guards, they throw you on the ground. You don’t move until you hear Janson’s voice.
“I have to admit you could have gotten away with it. We had doubts there had been leaks but nothing was certain. You knew how to hide your betrayal. But it wasn’t enough. You have been careless today which is why we found you both.”
“Both ?” you ask, hoping you didn’t hear correctly.
“I know very well you weren’t acting on your own, Y/N. Say hello to Thomas. He’s just over there.” he smiles, showing you something behind him.
“Thomas ? Let him go !” you scream, trying to stand up but the guards stop you. “It was my idea ! It wasn’t his fault ! Let him go !”
Your gaze is fixed on Thomas who is trapped in some kind of vertical basin being filled with water. He’s hitting the glass while Janson gets closer to you with a machiavellian smile.
“You were two in on it. You’re going to pay for the consequences of your selfishness.”
“Our selfishness ? What a joke.”
“You tried to fail experience to find a cure that could save humanity for some friends. I think we can say it’s not very charitable.”
“Let him go, please.” you repeat, desperate.
“Oh no ! You’re going to watch his lung being filled with water.” he states, holding your face, forcing you to look at the scene.
Thomas' body is almost fully under water. His head is only above it, allowing him to scream as loud as he can, but the wall lower his voice.
“You're a monster.” you spat
“A man of science, I prefer.”
Thomas keeps screaming, begging them to let you go, but his efforts are vain. The process is almost over and Janson would have never accepted, too proud to have stopped W.I.C.K.E.D’s two traitors.
“Tell me what I can do. If you leave him alone, I’ll do everything you’ll tell me.” you propose.
“Very well. So be a good girl and never speak again.”
When he’s done talking, Janson quickly takes out a weapon and shots you. You don’t have the time to react that your body is already hitting on the ground. Thomas yells louder, even if he’s on the verge of drowning. His tears are getting lost in the basin while he’s watching your blood spreading out on the floor. He keeps hitting the wall, drawing Janson’s attention. He looks at him with a devilish smile. Thomas shows every ounce of anger and frustration until the water in his lungs makes him lose consciousness. Janson sighs happily before ordering someone to get rid of your body and to transfer Thomas into Maze A where his Trial is about to begin.

hey! i just came over from tiktok, could you possibly do a gally x reader where he tries to act tough around all of the guys but (y/n) starts teasing about how sweet he actually is and he has to try and defend himself but gets all flustered over it, but can’t get mad at (y/n) cause he’s got that fat crush on her? (fem pronouns possibly please?)
Not So Tough
Pairing: Gally x fem!reader
Description: Gally has a hard exterior, but secretly melts when y/n is around.
Warnings: smooching, glade slang, idk just a lot of fluff, gally being a bit of a jerk
Words: 651
Prompt: Grumpy x Sunshine Trope
A/N: It lowkey ends kinda abruptly but OH WELL HERE YA GO
“Gally, would you please stop yelling at the rest of the builders and actually start building?” Newt called from the gardens.
“No can do, I gotta make sure everyone stays in line, that’s why you put me in charge of the builders, remember?” Gally called back, yelping soon after when one of the newer gladers dropped a piece of wood on his head. “You shank! Look what you’ve done! Dropping klunk all over the place, you should be sent to the slammer!”
“Gally, is that really any way to talk to the new guy?” Y/n jogged up to Gally from the med-jack hut where she was just supervising Clint and Jeff. Y/n was somewhat of a floater when it came to jobs. When they were testing what jobs she was good at, she was nearly good at every single one. Well, except for the slicers. Poor Winston nearly scared the girl half to death when he first came out with a machete.
“I uh- Well he dripped- I mean dropped that shucking piece of wood on me an-” Gally stammered.
“Gally, c’mon give the guy a break, he’s only been here a week,” Y/n said with a soft smile.
“Look, I’m just trying to do my job, gotta make sure everything gets done, right?” Gally said, seeming to regain his composure.
“And it will get done, you can just be a little nicer about it through,” Y/n said, placing a hand on Gally’s arm and running her fingers down his bicep.
Gally blushed. Y/n was playing him like a fiddle and she knew damn well what she was doing.
“I’ll see you at supper?” Y/n said.
“You know you’re the only one that calls it that, right? It’s dinner,” Gally snorted.
“Oh shut it, you know you love me,” Y/n said before turning over her shoulder and walking away, not before giving Gally one last smile. Gally stood there for a moment, not sure what to do with himself.
“Oi, Gally, what were you saying about making sure things get done?” Newt called, snickering to Alby.
“Oh slim it,” Gally growled. “No- you can’t hammer that in, there’s not a screw to hold it together!” He turned his attention to the Greenie.
___
“Hey big guy, not interested in tackling anyone to the ground tonight?” Y/n’s voice came from above Gally.
“No, not tonight, gonna try to go to sleep early,” Gally said, getting up and trying his best to avoid y/n. But before he could leave, y/n grabbed his wrist.
“Wait- did today really bother you?” She asked, furrowing her brow.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Gally broke away from her grip and tried to escape again, but she was too quick for him. She grabbed his arm again.
“You know what I’m talking about. I didn’t think it would bother you, I thought you would actually like it, y’know considering I was flirting with you.” Gally’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head.
“Oh my god,” Y/n laughed. “Wasn’t it obvious?”
“Kinda hard to pay attention to that when things need to get done,” Gally cleared his throat, trying his hardest to hide the smile that was forming on his face.
“Oh don’t act like you weren’t blushing the whole time you- oh my god you’re even blushing right now!” She laughed.
“Shh, no I’m not,” Gally smiled back at her, the blush returning to his cheeks.
“You are! Gally’s blushing! Gally’s blu-” Y/n called when she was cut off.
Gally’s lips crashed into hers as his hand moved to her cheeks. Y/n closed her eyes and sunk into the kiss, bringing her arms around his neck. When Gally pulled away first, y/n smiled.
“What was that for?” She breathed.
“To shut you up,” Gally smiled. He looked to her lips and back to her eyes. “And also because I’ve wanted to do that for a while.”

Our Little Secret {Newt}
Tumblr media
Newt x female reader AU smut
I've been to a million parties, and they're all the same. The adults will mingle and leave the couple of teens they dragged along to entertain themselves. Of course, there weren't very many of us. Tonight in fact, there was only one other besides me.
Sighing as people talked about who knows what I stepped into the empty hall. With my heels clacking on the floor, I stopped when I heard an extra pair of footsteps behind me.
"I was wondering when you'd get bored of being in there,"I remarked, turning around to face him.
"Bored? No. Not when you have that little, black dress on,"He sighed, walking towards me.
"Your favorite,"I whispered in his ear.
"Yeah? Why don't you remind me why,"He suggested, putting a hand on my inner thigh before tracing small shapes on my skin. As he trailed his hands higher he looked at me as he realized the little black dress was all I had.
"Mhm. You were just so sure I'd be down here tonight, weren't you?"He smirked.
"Bold of you to assume I was waiting for you."
"Is it now? Because these nights always end the same. With you struggling to walk when it's over."
"Good to know you pay attention,"I mumbled against his lips.
"I always pay attention to you,"He whispered, trailing a hand on my jaw. Still, he didn't move. Not yet. Just move closer and closer until he was almost there before pulling away.
"Come on. We don't want to be interrupted, do we?"He asked, taking his hands off of my body. Without a word I followed him to a few halls down until he pushed a door open. Stepping into the bedroom, he slammed the door shut before pinning me against the wall. Putting my arms behind his neck, we still waited for whoever would break first. Because this was just a game. A complex, game of feelings and lust.
This time I caved first as I pressed my lips against his. Keeping his hands on my waist, he trailed his tongue against my bottom lip asking for entrance. Denying it, he groaned before inching his finger closer to my pussy. Rubbing small circles on my clit, I moaned which he took full advantage of, darting his tongue between my parted lips. I ran my hands through his hair as he gradually deepened in, resulting in me being completely being trapped between him and the wall now.
As he moved his mouth to my collarbone I gathered enough sense to remind him not to leave any visible marks. Not so early.
"Sorry,"He shrugged, though we both knew he wasn't.
"Here. Let my get this off you. It looks better on the floor anyway,"He added, pulling at the sleeveless dress. Tugging it over my head, he allowed the garment to land on his floor before trailing his tongue down my stomach. Barely even needing to see them, he unstrapped my heels to toss them off.
"Why am I the only one not wearing anything?"I pointed out.
"There's nothing blocking my tongue now, is there?"He breathed against my thigh. Pressing a small kiss to my skin, I grazed my hands through his scalp. Giving me a teasing lick, my entire body shuddered at the feeling. He slowly flicked his tongue against my clit, finding an even rhythm. Quietly moaning his name, I couldn't help but push my hips further into him. I could just feel that cocky grin that I was so used to seeing as he plunged his tongue inside of me. Biting my lip to control my whimpers, he hummed causing desirable vibrations. Pulling away, he replaced his tongue with his fingers. While pumping two fingers inside of me, he used his thumb to rub small circles above my entrance. I could feel his gaze on me as I was reaching my breaking point.
"Mhm. You like this, don't you love?"He hummed, curling his fingers. Pulling his hair harder, he knew I was close as he placed his mouth back on me. Sucking on my clit, I reached my climax as I came. Licking everything he could, he trailed his tongue down my thighs to make sure not a drop was missed. As I was coming down from my high he suddenly started sucking on my pussy again.
"Newt, I'm still sensitive,"I warned.
"You already know I'll lick you clean. I'm not wasting your cum,"He said firmly, getting everything he could out of me.
Getting me worked up all over again, he stopped as he had apparently gotten what he needed.
"Your turn,"I said, dropping to my knees. Sliding out of his shoes, he undid his belt but left the rest to me. Unzipping his pants, I yanked them off. Seeing him already hard even though his boxers, I smiled in satisfaction before pulling those off too. Taking him in my hands, I slowly stroked his shaft. Thrusting himself into my hand, I barely increased the pace, pumping from tip to base. "Don't tease,"He pleaded as I started giving kitten licks to his tip. "Me? Tease you?"I asked before running my tongue on the side of his cock. "Would I ever do that to you?"I asked, looking up at him. With his eyes begging for me, I took him in my mouth. Running his hands through my hair, I bobbed my head as I sucked him off. Panting, he made a makeshift ponytail while gently pushing me further into him. Hitting the back of my throat, I sucked in my cheeks. Thrusting into me quicker now, I was almost choking as I increased my pace. Feeling him twitch in my mouth, I hummed. When his breathing was more ragged I knew there wasn't much longer.
Like always I was right as he shot his seed down my throat before pulling himself past my lips.
"Good girl,"He groaned as I swallowed his thick, salty liquids. Licking my lips to get what I could, I greedily sucked the rest of his cum from his hard cock. Trailing it down the side and tracing it back on his tip, his hands made there way to my hair. Still, he restrained himself from pushing me into him.
"Can I please just fuck you now?"He asked.
"What? My throat wasn't enough?"
"No. I want to be inside of you."
"You just were."
"Y/N-"
"Newt."
"Please,"He begged.
"I love when you sound like that,"I admitted, standing up.
"Trust me. I know,"He sighed, grabbing my waist and pulling me against him. Wrapping my legs around him, I could already feel his erection on my stomach.
Roughly throwing me on his bed, he connected our lips before trailing his mouth on my jaw. Moaning at the feeling, I felt his smile on my skin as he sucked on my collarbone, leaving hints of purple and red.
"Mine,"He breathed out.
"Yours,"I agreed.
Biting down on my neck, I grew more verbal. He did it again, harder, before making his way to my sweet spot.
"Newt. You can't just give me hickey's all night,"I groaned, arching my back.
"But you always look so pretty covered in them,"He whined.
"You're always so needy,"I laughed as he pressed a kiss to my nose.
"And you love it,"He reminded me, as if one was needed. Still, he positioned himself above me.
"Ready?"He asked. I nodded my head, but he gave me the look. The one that said to use my words.
"Yes,"I promised.
Keeping a hand on my shoulder, he slowly lowered himself into me. Whimpering as he stretched me out, he heard and paused. Only halfway inside of me, I closed my eyes as I waited to be all the way around him. After a moment when I had adjusted to his length, I assured him he could move.
Grunting, he pulled out before slamming into me. Thrusting my hips towards him, he kept his hands on my shoulders as he pushed himself in and out of me. Putting my hands around his back, I started leaving deep scratches as he pounded into me. Moaning my name, he intertwined our fingers as he rested his chest against mine. Moving in perfect synch as he shoved himself inside me, he suddenly put my legs around him, forcing his way deeper. Now full on screaming his name, his breathing got heavier with each thrust. "You always feel so good,"He mumbled. Feeling the knot in my stomach tighten, he sang more. "You're so fucking good at this,"He repeated. As my walls clenched around him, my screams of pleasure and delight only grew louder. Biting down on my shoulder to stifle his, with one last desperate thrust we came. Filling me up, nothing in the word was real as white stars clouded my vision.
Pulling out, we both took a second to catch our breaths. Once we did he smiled down at me before pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. Looking at his perfect lopsided grin, something finally kicked in after a moment.
"You didn't pull out,"I said quickly. Before I could panic he pulled a pill bottle and a water off of his nightstand. Sitting up, I took a long sip before managing to swallow the pill with a bit of effort.
"We'll focus on your voice later. Let's just get you cleaned off,"He suggested.
"I wanna sleep,"I grumbled.
"Yeah? Well you can sleep when you're cleaned off,"He chuckled, picking me up. Putting my arms around his shoulder, he took his time as he set me in the bath before running the water.
As the hit water washed over my skin I was more than thankful for him for the thousandth time in one week.
Sitting beside me, I leaned back as he scrubbed my body.
"I really love you,"I sighed.
"I really love you too. Now let me get your hair,"He directed.
Yeah. I love him. I can never say it enough.

Drowned In Affection (gally)
Summary: looking for a way to get into WCKD you come across a familiar face
Warnings: FLUFF, language, violence (i think that’s it)
Word count: 0.8k
Tumblr media
You and Thomas were falling behind the rest of the group. Running away from dust clouds and gun shots from the giant cannons at the top of WCKD’s walls.
Suddenly Thomas had disappeared but before you could run off somewhere else a hand grabbed you and pulled you into the corridor.
“Thanks.”
“No problem.” Thomas said gesturing for you to run in front of him to eliminate risk.
You ran in front of him ducking under the clothes lines and broken down walls until you reached the end of the corridor to see your group being shoved into vans.
You were grabbed soon after Thomas by a tall man.
“No! No!” You screamed. But he just threw you over his shoulder like you weighed nothing.
He placed you down in the back of the truck and climbed in behind you. You were the only one from your group in the vehicle and the men in the masks were not making this any easier for you.
The truck stopped abruptly sending you across the truck. One of the men let out a gasp.
“Y/n you need to be careful.” You backed up against the doors. One, how did he know your name? And two what was going on.
“Who the hell are you? How do you know my name?” You backed up again until your back was touching the doors. Until the doors opened and your back made a smack noise on the ground knocking the wind out of you.
“Oh shit.” The man who said your name uttered. “I told you to be careful.” He reached for your hand. But instead you pulled away and backed up.
You were taken out of your trance when Jorge burst through the back of one of the vans jumping on one of the men punching him repeatedly in the face.
“Where the hell is she? Where is she?” He yelled.
“I’m right here. I’m right here.” Brenda stopped him.
They hugged when one of the men interrupted. “Calm down, we're all on the same side.”
“All on the same side?” Thomas scoffed. “Who the hell are you?” He questioned.
There was a pause before the man removed his mask revealing a beautiful face. Gally.
“Hey greenie.” He said simply dropping his mask when Thomas punched and tackled him to the floor similarly to how Gally did to his victims back in the maze.
“Woah Tommy stop!” Newt ran over. “He saved us.”
“He killed Chuck.” Thomas gritted out his fist still cocked in the air.
“Yeah but I also remember he was stung and half out of his mind.” Newt added.
Thomas slowly got off of him and Gally stood up leaving you and Gally standing face to face.
“Gally?” You questioned making sure he was in fact real. “Is it really you?”
“Yes sweetheart.” He opened his arms. You ran over to him jumping in his arms wrapping your arms around his neck, his caressing you lower back.
“But how?” You murmured into his neck.
Newt must’ve heard you because he had read your mind. “Yeah we watched you die.” Gally slowly let you down.
“No you left me to die.” Gally confronted Newt. “And if we hadn’t found you when we did you’d be dead too. What are you doing here anyway?” He questioned as you clung to his arm.
“Minho.” Newt stated simply. “WCKDS got him.”
“Well I can help with that.”
~
After your short talk with Lawrence you came to the conclusion that two people would get into the city with Gally which was unfortunately not you.
“Gally please be careful I can’t lose you again.” You pleaded tears threatening to fall.
“I promise. I love you so much.” He hugged you.
“I love you too baby.” You replied, allowing him to climb down the ladder leading the boys into the sewer.
After a while you started getting worried. That was until the sewer drain opened with a pop and the three that went in came back out.
When Gally stood back up you exchanged another hug and kiss before going off to a real bed for the first time in a long time.
“This is my room.” He led you to a single bed room, bed made and room tidy.
“Is this where you’ve been the whole time?” You questioned.
“Pretty much. They fixed me up and I've been here ever since. Works out.”
“I missed you.” You hugged him again.
“Trust me, me too. Don’t tell anyone but I cuddle with my pillow every night pretending it’s you.” He whispered the last part and let out a laugh.
You laughed too. “Well tonight I'm real.” You got into the bed. “And I’ve been losing sleep without you.” You smiled waiting for him to climb into the bed.
You both fell asleep in each other's arms and practically drowned each other in affection. But you were fine with drowning as long as it was with Gally.

Good Liar
Tumblr media
I groaned as I carried the planks of wood across the Glade. I'd been lugging them along all day. I'm pretty sure my back's permanently bruised from the amount of times I'd slammed them over my shoulder.
"Not like that you shank!"Gally yelled at one of his Builders. I rolled my eyes at his usual attitude. It's pretty entertaining to see them all flustered. If you really knew him he wasn't even close to being intimidating.
"Do you need a hand?"Gally offered as I added another plank to the pile.
"I don't know Gally. You look pretty busy yelling at that poor guy over there,"I replied, with mock sincerity.
"You're hilarious. Do you want some help or not?"He asked again.
"I have a few more over there. It'd be great if you'd just help with the rest."
"Maybe I should be Gally's girlfriend. Then, he'd do more than yell at me,"The guy from earlier mumbled.
"Excuse me?"Gally asked, turning around.
"I just meant you're so nice to your girlfriend. I didn't mean anything by it,"He shrugged.
"That's the greatest I've heard all day,"I said, holding back a laugh.
"Did I say something wrong?"He asked, confused. "Not at all. I've been looking for a new joke,"I responded, pretending to wipe a tear from my eye. "So you're not a couple?"He asked.
By now I couldn't hold back my laughter. Gally was not amused which only made it better. I don't know what I did to deserve this, but it's probably the best part of my day.
"Not a couple,"Gally grumbled. He had actually gone red in the face. It made me unreasonably happy to see Gally close to being speechless.
"It's really not that funny,"He mumbled.
"It absolutely is that funny,"I disagreed.
"You're such a shuckface."
"I should probably go back to work,"The guy muttered.
"Oh definitely. Gally probably wants to rip your head off,"I warned.
"Are you done?"Gally huffed.
"If I have to be. Just help me with these planks."
"No. You're being a shank,"He scoffed, before leaving.
"Good call. I'll see you at dinner loverboy,"I yelled.
That was so ridiculous. Us? A couple? What a bad match. I'm only thinking about it because it's funny. I'm definitely not covering up my hidden feelings.
I'm also a great liar so I guess we'll never know.

Get Your Hands Off My Girlfriend
Tumblr media
A/N - New fandom! New fandom alert! Time to write for one of my favorite TMR characters, the fluffy little newty boy! So very very excited, especially since I haven’t taken part in this fandom in a while! Let’s jump right in the chaos! Enjoy! :)
Day 15 of Writer’s Block Challenge
Pairing(s) : Newt x Female!Reader
Summary : The newest green bean hits on you, not realizing that you already have a boyfriend, the glade’s second in command, Newt.
Warning(s) : Male persistence/harassment, a couple swear words.
Word Count : 797
“Go on a date with me.”
Ever since the newest green bean had arrived in the glade, he’d been after you. Ever breakfast, every lunch, every dinner, even in between, it was always the same question. If he were asking anyone else, they would have been annoyed. You however, didn’t care that much, you were very good at blocking people out. It was something you’d gotten used to, being the only girl.
“I’ll pass,” you respond, the same answer you’d given him every time.
“Just one date,” he tries again, “I promise I’ll make it worth your while.”
You highly doubted that. Anyone that persistent normally couldn’t keep any of the promises they made, they just made them so that people would say yes. You weren't going to.
“No means no, Greenie,” Newt pipes up from across the table, pausing from his food to tell the newbie off.
“Let the lady speak for herself,” the boy fired back.
“Like I said before,” you took a bite out of your sandwich, “I’ll pass.”
As you chewed on your food, you could see the cogs in his mind turning, trying and failing to understand why your response was the one that it was. People like him just couldn't take no for an answer.
“You’re just saying that because Newt and Minho are here. I’ll be back to ask you again later,” with that, he finally leaves, allowing you to peacefully finish your meal.
“I truly don't understand how you’re able to tolerate it,” Minho wonders in amazement.
“Lots of practice, Minho. Lots and lots of practice.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I want to tell him off,” Newt stated when you were laying in the grass far away from the rest of the graders, your head on his chest, his arm wrapped around you.
“We’re not supposed to be dating,” you remind him of the rule Alby had set, one to keep the peace amongst all the boys.
“Fuck that rule,” he mutters, shoving his nose into your hair, “it’s a stupid rule.”
You couldn’t deny that statement so you lean up to kiss him instead, your senses immediately sharpening as you feel every sensation; the early summer breeze blowing past you, the grass brushing your legs, the beating of his heart beneath your hand.
“Just do your best,” you say when the kiss finally ends, “neither of us want to be scolded by the man in the charge.”
“Fair enough.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It as during a meeting that he asked you again, sliding in beside you, bumping Thomas out of the way. He truly had the worst timing, talking to you when you were focusing on other things, other tasks.
“Go out with me?”
“No.”
“Come on, it’ll be fun.”
“No.”
“Why are you playing so hard to get?”
“Why are you talking to me when Alby is making an important announcement?”
Surprising even to you, your patience was beginning to wear thin. Normally you could hold up a lot longer against the advances of the newest green bean but there was something about this boy that ticked you off. Maybe it was the consistency at which he asked you, maybe it was the timing of when he asked you, maybe it was the way he asked you, you truly didn’t know. You just knew that it bugged you.
Wanting to get away from him, you silently begin making your way over to Gally, knowing he’d protect you from the unwanted advances. You didn’t get far however when the boy’s hand wrapped around your wrist, keeping you rooted in place.
“Release me,” you grit out.
“Not until you say yes,” he responds, looking at you expectantly. He fucking expected you to say yes.
“Get your hands off my girlfriend,” a voice rang out. Newt.
At this point, the meeting had been put on pause, everyone’s eyes and ears on you as Newt stalked over, a murderous look in his eyes. It had been a very long time since you’d seen this look.
“What?” The boy stammered out, “girlfriend?”
“Are you deaf as well as dumb?” Newt asked, coming to stand beside you, his arm wrapping around your waist protectively.
“I, I,” the poor guy didn’t seem to know what to say.
“I’ll let you off with a warning this time, but if you ever touch her again, I will shove you into the maze myself.” Everyone in the room knew Newt wasn’t kidding, he never made threats unless he absolutely meant them.
“Yes sir,” he turned and fled to the other side of the room, much like a dog with it’s tail between it’s legs.
“With that out of the way, let’s resume out meeting,” Alby called out as you kissed Newt’s cheek in thanks, “and Newt?”
“Yes?”
“You both are in trouble.”

sick of kissing you in my head (when can it be real instead?) | modern au!gally x fem!reader
masterlist

𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 onto my side, legs brushing against my sheets, I smile at the FaceTime call on my phone, but it's bittersweet. On the other end of the video call sits my boyfriend, the soft smile on his face mirroring my own. From where he sits, I can see the San Francisco skyline out his hotel window, highlighted by the rising sun.
“I miss you,” I mumble, studying the lines and contours of his face and wondering if they've changed since the last time I saw him in person. If I've missed any change; any detail while we've been separated. If anything has changed or tipped the balance since we've been apart.
I'm not insecure in my relationship with Gally, but be long distance for enough time and everyone gets in their head about it. Catches themselves wondering; doubting.
“I miss you more every time we have to part,” I add, watching the bitter take over the sweet in my boyfriend's eyes for a few seconds before he replies.
“I know, baby, I know.” His gaze wanders into the space between the atoms, his mind leaping forward into the future as he assures both me and himself, “Once my contract with WCKD Enterprises is up, I'll be able to move back to Denver. We'll be back in the same city.”
My smile is tired, only half there, and Gally knows it. It's been months since I've held him in my arms. This long distance routine is wearing us both out. We're both running out of steam—not for each other; not for our relationship, but for the complexity that being long distance has brought to our relationship. Conflicting schedules, spotty internet, the deprivation of physical contact with the person we crave it from the most…it's all beginning to pile up, and we both know it.
In an attempt to change the subject, I ask, “When is your flight back to Chicago again?” I already know, but I'm not sure what else to say, and besides, it's always good to check.
“Your birthday,” comes the cheeky reply, my eyes rolling of their own accord as I secretly admire the handsome grin on my boyfriend's face. But all too soon, his grin fades.
“I'm sorry I can't be there for your birthday,” he says gently. I wave him off, assuring him that I'll be just fine.
“Bren, Tes, and Sony are planning something. Won't tell me what, though.” I sigh before admitting, “It won't be the same without you. But your work's important.” Gally smiles gratefully, but there's cracks in the smile, and my stomach sinks. Guilt over my last comment settles in my digestive tract. “Sorry,” I mumble.
“No, no, don't apologize,’’ Gally says quickly. “You're allowed to be sad that I can't be there.” His amiable grin morphs into a scowl, “Tried to get Janson to give me the time off, I really did. But that rat wouldn't do it.” I give Gally what I hope is a reassuring smile.
“It's okay, babe.” We fall into silence, not necessarily comfortable, but not bad either, before Gally interjects,
“It'll be nice to be in my own apartment, though. I'm getting sick of all these Californian hotels. I'll be glad to be home, smog and noisy L-trains galore.” I chuckle, knowing that Gally loves Chicago because of its quirks, not in spite of them.
Still, Denver has always been home to me. But Gally and I've decided to cross that bridge when we get to it. We've got enough to think about as it is.
I'm trying to come up with another conversation topic, since I don't have work until later today, but unfortunately, Gally isn't so lucky. It’s the perks of working from home as a crisis hotline counselor, I guess. The hours aren’t as demanding, since the work itself is.
“Shoot, I have to go,” he hisses. “I'm sorry, princess. I'll call you tonight?” I nod, forcing myself to look forward to tonight's call, rather than be sad that this one is ending. “Alright, good that,” Gally grins. “I love you, babe!”
“I love you, Gal,” I smile and wave goodbye. The half-baked grin melts right off my face once he's hung up. Gosh, I miss him so much.
There's only so much comfort a video call can give.
Teresa calls me soon after Gally hangs up, blabbering on and on about a date she'd had with some guy named Ben, but I can't focus on her stories like I normally would. Usually, I'm all in to hear my friend's tales, but my mind is still fixated on the miles separating Gally and I. Something in me wonders how much longer we'll be able to go without holding each other. How much longer we can stand to be separated.
When we first started dating, I could have gone months, as long as we were still interacting. But as my love for Gally increased, the length of time I could stand to be without him decreased.
I'm fully, unashamedly in love with Gally now, and part of me wonders what I would do to be living in the same place as him. To be in his arms for good. The easy answer—the most raw answer—is anything. I'd do anything for him.
“(Y/N)?” Teresa's voice brings me out of my thoughts, her suspicious tone confirming that she's noticed my lack of focus today. “You weren't listening, were you?” To an outsider, her tone might sound harsh; reproachful, even, but I know her too well. She's not mad. Just annoyed she'll have to repeat her story if she wants me to hear it.
“I'm sorry,” I mumble, and it's sincere. I am sorry that I lost focus. But I don't apologize for pining after my faraway boyfriend. There's no reason to, for one, and two, I won't ever apologize for thinking of him. For missing him.
Teresa is grinning at my distracted tone, I can tell. Even through the phone, I can tell. “You're good. Dreaming about your bae, aren't you?”
I don't hesitate to admit, “Yes. I miss him more than I thought was even possible.” I hear Teresa's hum from the other end of the phone.
“You need to see him,” she declares. I scoff.
“Believe me, I know, and we're trying to figure out when he can next visit, but we're both just so busy.” Teresa clucks her tongue, the sound distorting oddly through the phone speaker. I imagine it running across the telephone poles, through the wires, twisting and bending and knotting out of shape as it flies all the way to me.
“I didn't mean like that, (Y/N). You need to go see him.” I chuckle, I wish I could.
“He's busy, Tes. Besides, he isn't even in Chicago right now,” I reason. This doesn't deter her.
“Well, when will he next be in Chicago?”
“His flight's on my birthday.”
“That's perfect!” Teresa squeals.
“How is that perfect?” I huff.
“You can fly out and spend your birthday with him! Surprise him!”
I actually laugh at this. “Um, no, I can't. I don't have the kind of money to just throw down for plane tickets. Besides, weren't you, Brenda, and Sonya planning something?”
“Well, yeah, but we could always change plans if we needed to,” Teresa says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. On any other day, I would entertain this kind of silly daydreaming, but today, I already felt lonely enough.
“Sorry, Tes. Those spontaneous decisions are not my cup of tea,” I sigh, and I think she can tell I'm shutting the conversation down. She lets it go, and I thank her silently, forcing the ache in my heart left by Gally's absence to venture to the back of my mind. If I waste the day away, it'll be evening again, and then he'll call, just like he said.
And so despite the fact that I know wasting the days away is bad for me, I do it anyway. Just today, I tell myself. Just today.
Of course, I know I'll do it again tomorrow, and the next day, and all the hours in between my calls with Gally. It's ridiculous, how they all say having space helps one think clearer, when having space just distracts me by making me miss him that much more.
When he's gone, I'm reminded that much more that he's all I need.
_______________________________
𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗦𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡 p.m. by the time Gally calls, his eyes lighting up when he sees me despite the exhausted, burnt out look on his face. I'm equally as ecstatic as he is to revel in the gaze of my lover, both of us simply brushing every inch of each other's faces with our eyes, memorizing each other for the millionth time. It won't be the last time, either. I could never get tired of scanning my gaze across his skin, memorizing every inch of his beautiful face.
In our current situation, it's the closest I can get to kissing every inch of his beautiful face.
Gally is the first to break the silence, and I'm okay with it. He's the one who's had a long day. He knows what he needs to talk or not talk about. I just love hearing his voice.
“How was your day, baby?” he asks, a tired sort of happiness seeping into his voice. Like I'm giving him some kind of rest just by smiling at him.
“It was good. Uneventful.” I shrug, knowing that I'd barely moved from the chair I occupied now. “The real question is, how was your day, my love?”
Gally grins at the pet name. He always does. It's the same reaction that I have whenever he uses terms of endearment on me. It's our own personal love language of sorts. How many different ways can I call you mine?
“My day was okay,” Gally says quietly, sighing when he sees the look on my face. The one that tells him to lay it on me; rant if it'll make him sleep better tonight. “Well, it was…mediocre,” he amends, running a hand through his short hair. “Tim was being an ass. As always.” I nod sympathetically, understanding the deep hatred he harbors for his coworker.
Why Gally doesn't like Tim, I'm not exactly sure, but I know it has something to do with taking credit for a project that Gally did all the work on. It resulted in a harsh lecture from their boss for Gally, who was presumed to have slacked off, and a promotion for Tim.
Anyone who knows Gally knows that he would never slack off. He takes duty and work seriously; more seriously than anyone else I've met, in fact. I know my boy. He wouldn't hurt his company's productivity, even if his boss is an asshole like Janson.
“I'm sorry Tim was giving you trouble, baby,” I croon, watching the aches and tension of the day seeping out of his stiff shoulders at the sound of my voice. His smile weaves its way back onto his face. It's a soft, vulnerable smile, the one that makes me want to take him in my arms and just hold him like the precious treasure he is.
“I wish I could hug you,” Gally groans, rubbing his chin with his fingers before trying to regain his composure. “Sorry…I don't mean to bring everything up again. I just…I just miss you.” My comforting smile wobbles, knowing that those same thoughts are eating away at me inside, but I bring the happy thoughts back to the surface and my grin rights itself.
“Soon, love, soon,” I murmur, knowing I can't truly promise anything with how busy our lives have become. But soon doesn't have a time slot or expiration date. I can promise soon and define it later. All I know is that it brings a smile to my boy's face, and that's what I need right now.
We spend the rest of the night talking, lifted by the promise of Soon, love, soon, knowing that it could very well mean a long, long time.

𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠𝗦 in my bedroom window, blinding me when my eyes flicker open. But once I blink away the black spots in my vision, I see that the sunlight isn't the only reason I was pulled from the comforting arms of sleep.
Brenda, Teresa, and Sonya are standing at my bedside, my sheets in a bunched up ball in Sonya's hands. I groan, trying to roll away, but Bren, ever the fearless one, grabs my shoulder and pulls me back to face them.
“Get up, (Y/N). No spending the day moping,” she orders. I heave out an exaggerated sigh, making my body intentionally limp as Brenda and Teresa each grab one of my arms, pulling me upright until I have to support my own weight.
“Sometimes I really regret giving you guys my apartment passcode,” I comment, leading Sonya to pinch my arm. I yelp, rubbing the red mark as I get manhandled out of my pajamas and into a new outfit by my best friends. “What—what are you crazies doing?” I splutter, quickly taking the pair of jeans from Teresa's hands before she can try to shove them on my legs, opting to put them on myself.
“We aren't letting you mope around until Gally visits. Who knows how long that would be? It's not healthy,” Sonya explains, linking an arm through mine as the three girls drag me to the bathroom. Brenda shoves my toothpaste-loaded toothbrush into my hand as Tes starts pulling my hair brush through my hair.
“Ow,” I complain around a mouthful of toothpaste suds, pulling away from Teresa's assault on my tender scalp momentarily to spit. She and Sonya make quick work of my slightly frizzy hair, tag teaming it to create a fun yet elegant braid.
“Beautiful,” Sonya sighs, leaning back to admire her handiwork. Brenda, on the other hand, seems to have some kind of mental checklist, full of all the tasks she must see me complete.
“Breakfast is next,” she commands, and I find myself being pulled into my kitchen, watching helplessly as my friends dive into making us a scrumptious, sugary feast.
I have to admit, the fluffy blueberry pancakes filling my stomach certainly make venturing out into the world much easier than I expected. I only feel the need to text Gally three times before leaving my apartment with my friends, rather than the usual five to ten. Whether these texts are to let him know I'm fine or to make sure he's fine, I've never been able to figure out. Maybe they're both. Either way, it's a good thing Brenda shoved my meds into my hand before breakfast.
When I'm here alone, I don't take them. Sometimes I skip them on purpose, sometimes I just forget. But either way, I don't take my anxiety meds unless Brenda is there to shove them down my throat. Thinking about it, I'm grateful she's here to force me to take them today. With all of these mixed up feelings about being separated from Gally for so long, having more control over my anxiety will be good.
A day shopping with my best friends is a good distraction from the painful loneliness I've been feeling without Gally. It's not exactly a cure, but it's close. My friends know this; know their own limitations, and so they do the best they can.
And I'm so grateful that they've put in the time. Put in the effort. All for me.
“Thank you,” I whisper to them as we sit in our favorite coffee shop, sipping oat milk lattes.
“Of course,” Brenda immediately responds.
“We love you,” Sonya adds.
“We know we aren't your boy,” Teresa chimes in, “but we're your best friends, and that means we stick by you. No matter what.” She leans over to rub my arm. “When you're down, I'm down. We wanted to help pick you back up.”
The smile on my face is genuine for the first time in a long time, knowing that my friends love me enough to support me despite having the knowledge that they can't give me everything I need. They give what they can, and accept me when it doesn't fix everything.
I haven't always had friends this good, and I look up at the sky, thanking the heavens that I've been blessed with such good friends now.

𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦 before my birthday, I can’t get Teresa’s half-joking, hare-brained idea out of my head. Realistically, I know that the likelihood that I could find a flight on my birthday to Chicago that isn’t full (or way too expensive) is slim. Realistically, I know that I don’t have the money for plane tickets right now. Realistically, I know that flying halfway across the country on a whim to see my boyfriend is ridiculous.
But when Gally sends me his flight information, knowing I like to watch his progress and get confirmation when he lands safely, I find myself checking flights from Denver to Chicago, telling myself it’s just out of curiosity. Because what if there is a flight to Denver from Chicago on my birthday? What if there is a possibility that I could see Gally on my birthday? What if there is a chance that I could have this gift; the only one I truly want?
If there’s even a chance to see Gally on my birthday, I want to know.
Gally’s flight information is pulled up on my phone, which is next to me on my desk as I scroll through flights on my laptop. My right thumbnail is between my teeth, bitten down to the quick and then some. It seems that flying is a popular travel option right now, as flights are filled even into places like Dawson County, Montana. Every flight I find from Denver to Chicago is either full or too expensive for someone just out of college, like me. The cheapest is $374, and I know rationally that blowing through that much money would be devastating for my finances.
I swear under my breath, angry at myself for even getting my hopes up. It was a stupid idea to check the flights, and I find myself wishing I could go back in time to stop myself from looking. The disappointment grows even larger knowing that there would be a way to get to him if I wasn’t a broke post-college student making minimum wage in the Mile-High City. Then the disappointment and anger melt away, leaving me with a heart wrenching sadness that feels so empty and yet so all-consuming that I can’t help but break down into tears.
I don’t want to let myself cry about a silly daydream that was unlikely to happen anyway, but I’d let myself entertain the thought of seeing Gally soon; of holding him close and kissing him until we couldn’t breathe, and now everything else seemed pale in comparison. It wasn’t that my life had no purpose outside of him—I’d made it very clear when we started dating that the two of us needed to make sure we had lives outside of our relationship, too. But Gally had become a part of me; my favorite part of me, in fact. I was perfectly happy with the life I had, but Gally made it even sweeter. And knowing that sweetness was mine but was inaccessible made the absence of it even more palpable. Even more unbearable.
Crumpled into a heap on my floor with tears slowly leaking from my eyes is how Teresa finds me when she opens my door fifteen minutes later. “Hey, girl—” she calls before seeing me, rushing to my side with a worried, “Oh, my gosh, what’s wrong, (Y/N)?” I just shake my head, the waterworks turning back up to full blast.
“I miss him so much,” I sob as she gathers me in her arms, unable to care that I sound pathetic.
“Oh, I know, darling, I know,” Teresa coos, rocking back and forth with my shaking body, whispering comforting words into my ears just like she always does when I get so worked up. My chest heaves as I try to catch my breath, hand flying up to wipe the snot from my nose, but of course, the minute it’s gone, more replaces it. I’m past the point of an easy calm-down, instead finding myself close to the edge of hyperventilating. Thankfully, Teresa isn’t a stranger to my emotional meltdowns, and she isn’t afraid of them, either. Instead, she’s the kind of friend who will take my hand and guide me through it.
“Did you take your meds this morning?” she asks cautiously, to which I shake my head in embarrassment. Tears are still pooling in the corners of my eyes as I manage to get out,
“I’m sorry.”
Teresa just shushes me calmly. “Don’t apologize. It’s in the past now. I just wanted to know.” I nod shakily, the soothing pressure of her hand rubbing my arm helping me steady my breaths slightly. “What set you off?” she queries, squeezing me a bit tighter when the tears speed up again.
“I—I decided to check the flights for my birthday,” I answer, sniffling as my best friend strokes my hair lovingly. “It was stupid, because it just made me upset. They’re all too expensive, and I knew they would be, and it just made me miss him so much more.” Admitting it out loud makes me feel even dumber, the guilt creeping into my stomach. “I did this to myself,” I mumble. Subconsciously, my nails find their way to my arms, digging into the delicate skin and leaving pink crescents behind. Teresa pulls my hands away from my arms quickly.
“Stop blaming yourself. You did nothing wrong. I would’ve done the same, (Y/N).” I know she’s trying to comfort me, but I just squeeze my eyes shut.
“Yeah, and it wouldn’t have caused you to end up on the floor like a pathetic child.”
“(Y/N)! Stop!” Teresa scolds me. “Stop with the negative self-talk.” I try to protest, but she fixes me with that no-nonsense look that can get anyone to agree to anything, and I find myself nodding meekly. “None of this is your fault. You’re in a difficult situation, being separated from your boyfriend, and your heart isn’t sure how to handle it. That’s okay. You don’t have to know how to handle it perfectly yet.” I sigh, leaning into my best friend’s shoulder, feeling slightly calmer now. She always knows the right words to say when I’m in too deep to think straight.
Teresa coaxes me into the kitchen to drink hot chocolate once my breathing has steadied somewhat. She’s looking at me with an odd look that I can’t quite place, as if she’s…proud of me?
“Why are you looking at me like that?” I ask warily over the top of my steaming mug. My best friend grins, staring at me for a couple more seconds before replying,
“You’re just, like, the strongest person I know.” My face turns what I assume is beet red at the compliment, not expecting such high praise from the woman who just held me in her arms as I sobbed like a baby. But then again, Teresa is special. She doesn’t judge based on outward appearances or impressions. She can see right into the heart of people, as if she can sense their goodness; their potential, and then she nudges them down that path. Helping them choose the sunshine. The good side. The light.
Knowing her compliment is slightly overwhelming, Teresa shrugs and changes the subject so fast I think I get whiplash. “You should call Gally,” she suggests. “Tell him that you were missing him and ask him for some love.” I cringe, turning away from her.
“I don’t want to make him feel bad that he isn’t here. I think I’ve already done that too much this week.”
Teresa scoffs, “That’s nonsense. He’ll be happy that you reached out to him after your meltdown. He’ll be touched that you wanted to let him know how you’re doing. He’ll feel honored that you’re willing to be vulnerable with him.” I know deep down that she’s right; that the only thing he’d do is make me feel better. Never after calling Gally do I feel worse. I know I’m just scared to hurt him, but he always assures me that I don’t need to harbor that fear. I don’t need to hold onto that anxious voice in my head that whispers, You don’t deserve him.
I can even imagine him next to me if I try hard enough, murmuring, “You’re perfect, baby,” when I grow insecure. Whispering, “I’m so lucky to have you” in my ear when I doubt myself.
“Okay,” I agree, letting Teresa take my phone and FaceTime him. Despite the fact that it’s the middle of the work day, Gally picks up on the first ring, a concerned look decorating his handsome face.
“Teresa? Wha—”
“She’s fine!” Teresa rushes to assure him, motioning for me to join her on the couch. I pop my head into the frame, wincing as I see how swollen and puffy my face is. Gally’s forehead immediately creases upon seeing me, obviously still worried when he sees the tear stains on my cheeks.
“Babe, are you okay?” he asks. Teresa silently asks if I want to take the phone, but I shake my head. My hands are still slightly shaky, and holding the phone is an added stressor. Teresa understands and angles the phone towards me.
“Yeah, I’m okay, don’t worry,” I whisper, my boyfriend’s shoulders relaxing only slightly. “I just had a bit of a meltdown. Teresa found me and helped me calm down.” Gally’s eyebrows soften, his mouth tilting down in a sympathetic frown.
“Oh, baby, I’m sorry,” he murmurs. “What happened?”
“I just miss you,” I mumble sheepishly after a second’s pause. It seems kind of silly once I admit it out loud, and I start to duck my face away when Gally gets my attention.
“Hey, (Y/N), (Y/N),” he says, waiting until I’ve turned back to him before continuing, “You don’t need to feel embarrassed. I miss you, too, okay? I miss you so much. You don’t need to feel ashamed for struggling.” He waits for me to respond, and I nod slightly. Truth be told, just hearing his voice has made me feel better; stronger. There’s something about his comforting, strong tone that soothes me. Just his voice can make me truly believe in myself. I swear, this man could make me believe anything as long as he says it aloud.
“Thank you for picking up,” I smile, finding my mood lightening as a grin finds its way back onto his face. “Seeing you helped.” Gally blushes slightly, rubbing a hand along his chin.
“I’m glad I could help, baby.” Offscreen, someone gruffly commands him to get back to work, and he mutters an apology before turning back to the screen. “I’m sorry, but I have to go. But call me if you need anything, okay?” I nod, trailing my eyes over his freckles one more time as he thanks Teresa for taking care of me and then hangs up.
“It helped?” she asks, as if double-checking to make sure I truly am feeling better.
“Yeah,” I grin sheepishly. “You know what you’re talking about.” With a roll of my eyes, I joke, “You should be a counselor for a living. At this rate, you’re better than me at my own job!” Teresa just laughs.
“Well, now that you’ve cracked a joke, I know you’re feeling better.” She pulls me into a hug, and I gladly return it, silently wondering how I got blessed with such an amazing best friend.
“Hey, I’m here for you,” she reminds me one more time as she leaves, her meticulous check-ins a promise for the next few days.
“I know,” I assure her. “I promise I’ll call if I need to.”
“Good,” she says, smiling as she waves. “I love you, babes!”
“I love you, too, Tes!” Feeling a bit lighter, I wave back as I close my front door.

“𝗜 𝗖𝗔𝗡’𝗧—I can’t take this,” I stutter the next day, wide-eyed at the wad of cash Teresa is currently shoving into my hands. Brenda and Sonya are flanking her on either side with looks that imply they’re attempting to telepathically convince me to take the money.
“Yes, you can,” Teresa sighs exasperatedly. “Like I already told you, it’s the money we were going to spend on your celebration pooled together. But we all know you’d rather spend your birthday with Gally, and we want you to be able to, so we’re giving you the money for that plane ticket you couldn’t afford. It would be a waste to throw you a party you don’t want to be at. Helping you see your boyfriend is a much better use of that money. We all agreed.” Brenda and Sonya both nod, Teresa shoving the cash even further into my palms. I take it shakily, counting silently as I gape at them. “But—but this is nine hundred bucks! I can’t—I can’t take this, I’m sorry!”
“Don’t be sorry!” Brenda sighs. “Just take the money! It’s our birthday present for you!” I look back and forth between my three best friends, realizing that there is no way they’re letting me reject the money. But it feels so weird having this many fifties weighing heavily in my grasp.
“Please take it,” Sonya says softly, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. “We want you to be able to go see Gally. We want you to enjoy this birthday. You’ll be giving a gift to us by making this impulsive choice to do what makes you happy.” My resistance gets melted away by her words, knowing that this was their tactic all along. Get (Y/N) all toughened up to the ‘just take it’ ruse and then let Sonya slip under her defenses when she least expects it. But I’m not annoyed by it. Instead, I let Teresa close my fist over the cash.
Immediately, the three start cheering, but before I can even blink, they’ve moved on from celebrating and are pushing me towards my laptop where, just as I’m sure Teresa suspected, the flights from Denver to Chicago are still pulled up. Teresa obviously asked Gally to share his flight information with her, because she seems to have it memorized as she scans the flights.
“Alright, here’s the best one,” she announces after a few minutes of looking. “United, nonstop, leaving at 9:30 a.m. MT and arriving at 12:56 p.m. CT. It’s in the same terminal as Gally’s flight, and he lands at 2:23 p.m. CT, so that gives you a little over an hour to get to his gate and wait for him. Sounds good?” I nod wordlessly, still slightly in shock over the way my best friends have handled this so nonchalantly, as if their friend flying across the country on a day’s notice is just a normal part of their lives.
Sonya pulls me towards my room as Brenda takes the stack of cash back from me, mumbling that Teresa insisted they have it for show but was just planning on Venmoing the cash to me. I laugh at our friend’s antics before following an impatient Sonya, who grabs my suitcase from my closet and starts making a list of what I should pack.
“We’re not buying you a return flight,” she explains, “because we didn’t know how long you’d want to stay, and we figured you didn’t know either. Just bring your work stuff and you can work from Gally’s apartment, and use the rest of the money to buy a return ticket when you decide to come back.” I shake my head in awe at the schemes of my friends, who have obviously thought of every single anxiety I could have because of this plan and have set out to refute them.
With Sonya helping me pack, a task that would usually take me at least three hours, two cups of coffee, and a panic attack is done in under one hour, no coffee or panic attacks in sight. While I wouldn’t have minded the coffee, the no panic attack part is nice, and I decide I can live without those two cups of coffee if it means my peace of mind is intact.
And the next morning when Teresa drops me off at the airport, my medicine taken and an ample breakfast eaten, the nervous butterflies in my stomach don’t feel scary. In fact, they feel almost…exciting. And I feel crazy for doing this; for flying halfway across the country to surprise my boyfriend so I can kiss him on my birthday, but I also feel so alive.
And today, the idea of living doesn’t seem as scary anymore.

𝗔𝗦 𝗜 wait at my gate and sip my Starbucks latte, I answer the countless birthday texts I have already received, smiling at the overflow of love from people I talk to everyday and people I barely even know. It’s funny, knowing that there are people out there who remember my birthday but don’t talk to me otherwise. Some might feel disheartened at the idea, but I just giggle quietly to myself, wondering if I’m going crazy for feeling so lighthearted.
Maybe it’s the adrenaline, I think to myself. The adrenaline from doing something so stupid and yet so exciting. Shrugging to myself, I take another large gulp of coffee, finally getting to the text from Gally. I saved it for last, knowing it would be the best one. And sure enough, as I read the message, I feel happy tears pricking my eyes. As always, he’s sweet; sappy, even, but his message also holds the serious intensity that he always has around him. It’s like an aura, telling those around him that he does everything fully and completely, never giving only half of his effort. That intensity is probably why I love reading texts from him over and over. Even if it’s a simple good morning, his texts always seem to scream I love you from between the lines.
I text Gally back, thanking him for the love he’s sent zipping along telephone lines, across the country and all the way to me. I suck the last dregs of liquid from my Starbucks cup, finally accepting that the beverage is gone as the gate attendant calls for Boarding Group 1. I find myself bouncing from foot to foot, realizing once again that I’m really doing this. I can’t bring myself to sit down as I wait for my group to be called, instead standing by the gate’s charging station, fidgeting like I’m about to run the 100 meter dash. By the time I’m boarding, I’m breathing heavily like I just sprinted up Pikes Peak. Whether from nerves or excitement, I can’t really tell, but it’s enough that the flight attendant touches my arm as she checks the cabin.
“Ma’am, are you okay?” I look up in surprise before giving her a quick grin.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just nervous.”
She smiles empathetically. “Is it your first time flying?”
“No. I’m flying out to surprise my boyfriend, and I guess I’m just hoping it all works out like I planned,” I explain.
At this, I receive an even bigger grin from the flight attendant, who thinks that is just—“the most adorable thing ever!” I nod along, unsure whether I’m actually smiling or just masking my anxiety. Either one is a plausible explanation, and I’m pumped so full of adrenaline that all of my emotions currently feel interchangeable.
I spend the entirety of take-off nervously fiddling with the little screen in front of me, trying to distract myself. Once we’re at a constant altitude, the flight attendants offer drinks, and I ask for a ginger ale, my go-to drink on airplanes. It calms me down, the comforting security of it helping me stay rational. Unfortunately, the ginger ale combined with my anxious thoughts cause my bladder to reach its limit quite quickly.
I hate the little bathrooms on airplanes. So loud, so claustrophobic, so turbulent. It’s like trying to pee while in the middle of an earthquake. But my bladder isn’t playing games today, and the last thing I want to do is ignore it and then pee myself. The intrusive thoughts fight to take over as I rush through the motions, washing my hands as quickly as possible, but I stave them off and make it back to my seat in one piece.
The remaining hour until landing is the longest hour of my life.
When we finally touch down and taxi to our gate, all of the tension that has built up inside me feels ready to explode, but I hold it in, knowing that I can let it all out once I see Gally. It’s barely even occurred to me that I’m a year older now—that it’s my birthday—because all I can think about is getting to hold my boy.
I almost trip getting off the plane, too busy checking his flight’s progress and landing gate. His flight is still an hour and thirty minutes out, giving me more than enough time to go to the bathroom, get some food, and wait for him. I pull my suitcase behind me, so glad I decided to take everything in my carry-on, as I’m now realizing that baggage claim is outside the secure area of the airport. I break free from the flow of traffic heading in that direction, redirecting towards the bathroom.
One bathroom trip, makeup refresher, and food court scavenger hunt later, I’m standing against a column at Gally’s gate, drinking my second Starbucks latte of the day. Normally, I wouldn’t let myself indulge like this, but it’s my birthday, so I feel justified. I even treat myself to a slice of sweet bread, too. I’m too anxious to eat a full lunch. Besides, I’m sure Gally will be happy to get lunch on our way back to his apartment. He’s always willing to eat, no matter the time of day.
I’m trying my best not to look suspicious. There’s a flight leaving from this gate after Gally’s flight arrives, so I blend in, but my leg is bouncing nervously and my hands are shaking slightly. I’m a naturally energetic person, but the fidgeting increases exponentially when I’m either excited or nervous. Right now, I’m both.
Thankfully, no one seems to notice me or think I’m behaving weirdly. I’m simply overthinking, like I often do. At least it passes the time. I only have thirty minutes left to wait.
I run back to Starbucks and buy another latte. It’s gone within ten minutes, my anxious energy prompting me to gulp it down like I’m dying of thirst. Then I’m running to the bathroom again, bladder shouting angrily at me for the caffeine abuse I’ve been subjecting it to. It’s unpleasant, but it kills more time.
Ten minutes to go. I’m staring at my phone, Gally’s flight details pulled up, reloading the page over and over in hopes that magically, they’ll teleport and be here instantly. With anyone else, I wouldn’t be this obsessive; impatient, but it’s Gally. I could obsess over Gally for days on end with all the love overflowing from my heart. So I pass three minutes refreshing the page persistently, watching the minutes countdown.
I let out a quiet, barely there gasp when my phone screen tells me he’s landed. I can barely contain my excitement, nervous energy causing me to wiggle my hips like a rhythmically challenged dancer. His plane is on the ground, taxiing over, right to where I’m waiting. He’s going to walk through that gate, and I’m going to see his beautiful face, and I’m going to run and jump into my boyfriend’s arms.
All of a sudden, doubt crashes into me like a fucking tidal wave. What if he doesn’t want to see me? What if this is weird, and he’s going to be all awkward about it? What if this was one huge fuck-up? I can feel myself starting to spiral, starting to lose touch with the confidence I’ve been channeling all day. The panic has started to grow, and it surges through my veins, reaching to the tip-top of the cliff that is followed by a plunge off the deep end. Thankfully, though, with only a few minutes to spare before my boyfriend gets off his plane, a little girl in a princess dress bumps into me, hard, causing my knees to buckle and my head to snap out of the spiral it’s in.
I catch myself against the trusty column I’m leaning against, looking down to find a young girl, maybe six, wearing an Elena of Avalor dress-up costume with a stuffed animal that looks like some kind of leopard with bird wings.
“Amity!” her mother scolds her, ordering her to apologize for bumping into me. Amity looks up at me with big, brown doe eyes and a huge, genuine grin.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am,” she chirps. I smile back, making eye contact with her mom, before crouching down to her level and holding out a hand to shake.
“I forgive you. I’m (Y/N). Want to know something?” Amity shakes my hand, grinning widely, before looking at her mom as if to make sure it’s okay to talk to me. Her mom gives a gentle nod, a kindness in her eyes as they meet mine. “Well, Amity, you actually helped me just now. I was feeling super duper nervous and it was making me get shaky and worried. But then you bumped into me, and I saw your smile, and it made me feel a lot better!”
I can tell Amity’s mother is touched, and I make sure to assure her that I’m doing better. That Amity’s little scuffle with my legs was truly helpful. And then Amity and her mom are on their way, Amity’s tight hug and whisper of “You look like a princess” giving me the last boost of confidence I need.
Right as I finish waving goodbye to the adorable little girl, I hear the sounds of passengers starting to come down the jetway. I suck in a sharp breath, making sure my small suitcase and jacket are safe by the column before stepping closer to the junction between gate and jetway, watching passengers closely as they start to trickle into the airport.
It’s no surprise that I can pick Gally out of the crowd immediately after he walks out of the jetway, his head easily peeking over every other passenger. He doesn’t see me at first, focused on trying not to trample the small toddler whose family is trying desperately to get him to behave as they walk in front of my boyfriend.
I wait until he’s right there, just the toddler’s family in front of him, to call his name. “Gally!” His head snaps up, eyes scanning the surrounding area before settling on me, his jaw going slack, falling open in surprise as the toddler’s family quickly moves out of the way.
It’s like we’re living in slow motion, the way I watch Gally’s backpack slide out of his hand and hit the floor with a thump, his look of shock morphing into a state of joyous disbelief, as if he’s not sure he’s truly seeing me. He looks frozen in this state, unable to move towards me, but I don’t care. I’m already running up to him, happy tears gathering in my eyes as I jump into Gally’s arms, my head burying itself in his neck before I lean up to kiss him with all the pent-up love, tension, and nerves that have been coursing through my body all day.
His lips are warm just like they always are, soft and full and inviting as we kiss passionately; shamelessly, right in front of everyone waiting to board their flight. I can’t bring myself to care, anxiety nowhere to be found now that I’m here. In his arms. Held tightly, kept safe, flooded with warmth, just like I’m supposed to be.
He pulls away first, still in shock as he scans my face, as if expecting to find some imperfection that reveals me as a doppelganger. “Baby—” he chokes out, tears brimming at the corners of his eyes, my own tears rolling down my cheeks. “Baby, you’re here.” He lets out a giddy, confused laugh, cupping my cheek with his hand as he wipes the remnant saltwater away with his thumb.
“You’re—you’re here. In Chicago,” he repeats, putting my feet back on the floor so I can stand there with my arms around his neck, his other hand coming up to cup my other cheek. “You’re—it’s your birthday!” he says, and I can’t tell if it’s another reason he’s confused I’m here, or if it’s just an observation. Well, probably both, so I just giggle.
“Yes, Gally, it’s my birthday.”
“But—did you—when did you get here?” he asked, bewildered, a lovestruck, excited smile lighting up his whole face. I run my hands through his hair, admiring his gentleness as he cradles my face in his palms.
“An hour and a half ago, I think. I’m not sure the exact timing,” I shrug. He gasps.
“You flew on your birthday?” I give him an odd look.
“Yes…why? Is that illegal or something?” Gally chuckles through the joy-filled tears still drifting down his face every once in a while.
“No, baby. I just thought—most people wouldn’t be willing to fly or even be at an airport on their birthdays. Don’t you have cool stuff to do? Fun people to see?” I shake my head, pulling him as close as I can, our lips hovering inches apart.
“You’re the only person I wanted to see. This is my birthday present.”
Gally’s eyes water even more as he presses his forehead to mine, running his hands through my hair. “Baby, I—” He pulls away to wipe a tear from his eye and then leans back down, pressing a gentle peck to my forehead, “I love you so much.”
“I love you even more, Gally,” I whisper back, staring into his teary eyes with my watery own. He chuckles, shaking his head.
“Not possible.”
“It is, too,” I giggle, still whispering as I press a kiss to his lips, “and I’m the birthday girl, so you have to let me win the arguments today.”
“Oh, that’s how that works,” Gally laughed, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. “Well, I suppose I can let you win this one, since you did fly all the way to Chicago on your birthday.”
“Oh, but that was selfish,” I smiled. “I wanted to see you. I needed to see you. It was purely selfish.” Gally just hugged me tighter, pressing kisses to the top of my hair as he admitted quietly,
“Well, I needed to see you, too. I needed to have you in my arms.” I relax into the warmth of my boyfriend’s chest, the material of his hoodie tickling my nose. I endure it because it smells like him, and that makes it the most calming aroma in the world.
“Being in your arms is all I need. You are all I need,” I whisper.
I kiss him again, a loving, sweet kiss, reveling in the presence and taste of my boyfriend, a sense of peace and safety wrapping its warm arms around me.
Nothing else matters in this moment. Not my job, or my life in Denver, or my birthday. All that matters is that I am here, in my boyfriend’s arms. In Gally’s arms.
Right where I’m supposed to be.

@jesylovesmusic  “ Hey I know you're not talking request right now but I just had a question for if you would accept request for the maze runner when they're open again. Ive fallen down a hole”
description: when a new girl who knows more than the rest of the gladers is brought into their world, newt finds himself drawn to her, and a strong desire to make sure none of the others hurt her
pairing: newt x female!reader
warnings: swearing, mentions of the world being awful outside the glade
masterlist (one, two, three)
Tumblr media
The Gladers had hardly grasped the addition of Teresa into The Glade when The Box shuttered to life again, signifying that another was being added into their world. There had been so many surprises and uncertainties with their recent two additions - Thomas and Teresa - that the others were sure that nothing else could ever surprise them.
They were proven wrong when The Box delivered to them another girl.
This time, she was huddled into the far corner of the box, her knees brought up to her chest and her whole body trembling with fear. The Gladers looked down at her with yet another feeling of shock, something that had become normal for them at this rate. None of them knew what to do, so Newt took the lead and jumped into The Box to retrieve their newest member.
He was taken aback when her eyes widened with fear upon seeing him and she started to scream, “No! No, get away from me!”
“What’s wrong with her?” Minho asked.
“She’s scared,” Newt responded.
He dared to take another step forward, but she shrunk away from him the best she could, hiding her face behind her hands. Newt felt a pang of compassion for her. They had all been scared and confused when they entered The Glade. It was never easy, and it especially wasn’t easy to collect the newcomers when they arrived in this state.
Newt kept his distance, but knelt down so that he came eye level with the unknown girl. She peaked at him around her hands.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said. “I’m just trying to help you. I know this is scary; you just arrived to a strange place and you don’t even know who you are - ”
“I know who I am,” she cut him off. “My name is (Y/N). They took me away from my parents. They took my parents and I don’t know what they did with them, but I don’t think they’re alive. They tried to inject me with something, but I fought back until finally they just knocked me out and threw me in here.”
Her eyes gazed up at the other boys who were now peering down at her. The terror returned to her face and she curled herself up tighter into her ball. Newt stood and turned to look at Alby. He knew by the look on his leader’s face that Alby had heard what this new girl had said.
Another strange thing to continue the string of surprises they had been going through: this new girl had memories of the outside world.
~~~~~~
After finally managing to get (Y/N) out of The Box (although not without a lot of screaming and a hearty fight), they put her up in a room alone. It was the only way they could get her to calm down. One of the Gladers would come by to give her food to make sure she wouldn’t starve, but she refused to face any of them. She stayed in the room until she knew they were gone, then she would take the food and leave anything to be collected outside the door by the time someone else came by.
She wouldn’t even open up for Teresa. The boys thought that maybe (Y/N) was afraid because she was one girl with a large number of boys, so maybe she would feel more comfortable if she was approached by another girl. However, when Teresa came back from giving (Y/N) her routine meal, she told them, “She definitely does not care about gender. She screamed at me as if I were one of you guys.”
On the day that Newt was tasked with bringing (Y/N) her food, he felt a bit more courageous than the others seemed to be. He wanted to know more about this new person; he wanted to know what exactly she knew about the outside world. Maybe she could tell him how they all got there. Maybe she’d know how to escape.
He approached her room with a tray of food and knocked at the door. Of course, there was no response. He placed the tray on the floor by the door and backed away two steps. He waited again, expecting to hear her shuffling around her room to come get the food. When she didn’t answer, Newt tried knocking again.
“I’m not going away until you come out,” he said. “You don’t have to be afraid of us. If anything, we should be afraid of you. You’re this strange new girl that’s been dropped into our world saying you actually remember what life is like outside The Glade. How do we know you haven’t been sent to hurt us?”
There was no response again. Newt sighed. Okay, maybe that was the wrong thing to say.
He pressed his back against the wall next to her door and slid down till he was sitting. He still couldn’t hear any movements inside the room. He wondered if she was even awake. It was only midday, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t trying to escape this situation some other way.
“Obviously, you’re not going to hurt us,” he said, hoping she was awake he wasn’t talking to himself. “If you were, you would’ve by now. You’re either genuinely scared, or you’re an incredibly good actor with much patience. I’m choosing to believe the former.”
He put his head back against the wall behind him. “You have to understand, you’re the first person to ever come here to remember life before The Glade. None of us remember how we got here. We just woke up in The Box while being transported in. We understand that, if someone took you the way you say they did, that you’re very scared, but we’re all very curious to see what you know. You might be our key to finding out how we got here and how we can get out.”
When no response came, Newt sighed and admitted defeat. There was no coaxing (Y/N) out of her room, and he wasn’t about to sit around so that she couldn’t get her food. He was pulling himself to a stand when he heard the doorknob slowly turn and the door creaked open just a crack. (Y/N) peered out at him through the door, her face a mixture of worry and sadness.
“You don’t want to leave here,” she said. It was the first time she had spoken since that day she arrived in The Box. “It’s...terrible out there.”
“What do you mean?” Newt asked.
(Y/N) opened the door a little more, just enough to poke her head out and see if there was anyone else with Newt. She knelt down to pick up her food and beaconed for him to come inside.
Besides the sheets on the bed having been messed a little, it looked as though the room was untouched. Not even the clothes that had been brought for her to change into had been touched, Newt noticed. It was like she had been spending all of her time in bed or pacing around the room. She didn’t want to be entertained, she wanted to be home.
She sat down on the bed and placed the tray in front of her. She ate slowly, her eyes never leaving Newt. He didn’t want to push his luck too much, so he opted to sit on the floor across from the bed. He waited until she felt ready to talk.
“The world is not...good,” she told him, finally, after what felt like hours of silence. “There aren’t many of us left out there, and the ones who are left...they’re not nice humans anymore. Not like in here.”
Newt pushed aside the thoughts of Gally and the way he treated Thomas and Teresa when they entered The Glade. Definitely not everyone in here was “good”.
“A virus took out a lot of the population, and those it didn’t take out have resorted to fighting for survival. My parents and I were fortunate enough to have hidden in a bunker full of survivalists who knew how to handle the situation, but even then we had out moments where things were looking dark. Honestly, I don’t think any of us expected to survive as long as we have. Others were lost much earlier on.”
“How did you get here then?” Newt asked.
(Y/N) sighed, looking down at her plate. “Our bunker was compromised. A couple scientists who said they’re trying to find a cure for the virus or something. They grabbed us, took us in for testing to see if he had been infected, then they put us up in some rooms in their labs. Next thing I knew, they were bursting into my room and dragging me off. My parents tried to stop them, but they were detained as I was taken. I have no idea what happened to them or if they’re even still alive, but I don’t have much hope for it. One of the scientists tried to explain to me what was going on, but I didn’t want to listen. I just wanted to get out. And then, suddenly, they just knocked me unconscious and threw me into that thing that brought me here. I woke up just before it opened up and you guys found me.”
“No wonder you were so scared then. You probably thought we were one of them.”
She nodded. “I thought you were going to kill me. I thought that they found traces of the virus in me and that’s how they dealt with people who were infected. I have no idea why I’m here, or what ‘here’ even is.”
Newt was also starting to wonder where “here” was. Was The Glade supposed to be a safe haven for those who hadn’t been infected by the virus in order to save them? If so, why wipe their memories before sending them in? Why not send in their families, too?
He always knew there was a world beyond The Glade, but he never could’ve imagined it was as awful as (Y/N) was saying. Newt always figured that maybe he and the other Gladers had done something bad and The Glade was their punishment. But maybe The Glade was a way to save the world once this virus was taken care of.
Newt was brought out of his thoughts by the sounds of whimpering. When he looked up, he saw tears running down (Y/N)’s cheeks and her body was trembling from silent sobs. Against his better judgement, he got up from the floor and rushed over to wrap his arms around her. To his surprise, she leaned into his embrace and buried her head into his chest. He could feel her tears dampening his shirt, but he could care less. He held her and allowed her to let out her emotions in a safe environment. She could finally let her guard down, even just for a second.
“I just miss my parents,” she sobbed. “It’s the not knowing that makes it so awful. I have no idea if they’re dead or alive, if they know where I am, if I’ll ever see them again. I’m all they had, and then those fuckers took me from them!”
“I know,” he said. “Until you know for sure, it may be best to think of them as still being alive.”
“How will I ever know for sure?” she asked. “I’m never getting out of here.”
“We’ll find a way. We’ve been trying for so long, and now we have you who actually knows about life outside The Glade. There’s a huge chance we could get out of here and find your parents.”
(Y/N) pulled away from Newt. Her eyes were swollen and puffy and her cheeks were tearstained. His heart ached for her. The Gladers always wished they knew where they came from or what their life was like before The Glade, but now Newt was realizing what a gift it was for them not to know those things.
“There’s bad people out there,” she said. “What if they try to kill us?”
“We’ll just have to prepare for that,” Newt said. “We can talk to Alby, that’s our leader, and tell him everything. He’ll come up with a plan.”
“What if your people don’t like what they hear?” she asked. “You’ve all been in here for how long? Dreaming of a life outside of this place, a world that’s beautiful and good. What happens if I tell them that the world is not beautiful and good and they decide they don’t believe me? What happens if the entire place turns on me except for you?”
It was a small thought in the back of his mind, but Newt refused to let it wiggle it’s way in. He took (Y/N)’s hands in his and squeezed them. “I would never let them hurt you.”
She let out a humorless laugh. “Yeah? You’re going to protect me? You don’t even know me. Those people down there have been with you for years, and you’re going to back up the crazy new girl who just arrived?”
Newt nodded, which seemed to surprise her.
“Why?” she asked.
“Because I believe you,” he said. “I know it’s going to be hard to swallow the fact that the world outside of The Glade is not what we pictured it to be, but it’s something that we have to prepare for whether we believe you or not. And because...well, there’s just something about you. You interest me. I’ve actually been waiting very patiently for many days to be the one to bring you food so I could try and talk to you.”
It was Newt’s turn to be surprised when a small smile spread across her face. “You’re quite the charmer for someone who’s been stuck in here with a bunch of dudes for years.”
Newt chuckled. “Maybe my lack of practice helped.”
(Y/N) leaned into Newt again, which took him by surprise yet again. She guided the two of them down until they were both laying on the bed, her head against his chest and his arm around her. He could feel the tension leaving her body as she relaxed against him.
“I just need to lay here for a second,” she said. “And I don’t want to be alone. We can go down and talk to your people later, but I just need to build up the courage to do so.”
Newt nodded and ran his hands through her hair. “That’s fine. Take as much time as you need. I’ll stay here as long as you want.”
Her arm moved around his stomach and gave him a small squeeze. “That might be for a very long time. You never told me your name, by the way.”
“It’s Newt.”
“Newt. I want you to stay, Newt.”
wordcount: 5464
TW: nightmares, a bit deppresed, swearing
I changed it a bit, so it would fit in the story! Its angsty but also fluffy
Eyes flewing open you let out a startled shout. You moved your head to scan your surroundings.
Where the hell am I?
"Hello!" you screamed at no one, you tried to tear up the netting. "Hello! "
You were moving up, and it was going fast, what was going on?
This thing where you're in wasn't going to stop, deep down you knew it too.
"Fuck!"
It was then that you knew it would be fruitless, you put your hands in your hair and paced in the little box. Breathing a few times to deep, breathing a few times to shallow while mumbling panicking things.
"Shit!" you kicked a box in frustration. Splinters flew from the inpact and your feet went in the box, while rice spilled out.
Wait, no wait a minute.
You were surrounded by wooden boxes and carefully you pulled your foot out.
A quiet laugh escaped your lips, maybe there is a logo on them. Crouching down you searched for an answer, "Who put me here?" Your finger danced on the wood and you looked. After a few seconds you found it, the bold black letters staring right in front of you.
W.I.C.K.E.D
That's really assuring.
But before you could mull it over the roof of the lift disappeared and you were met with the blasting sun.
You squeeshed your y/e/c eyes, noticing people around you.
"It's a girl.. " someone with a boyish voice said.
"No way!"
"Dipps on her!"
Two boys jumped in the box beside you, quickly you stepped backwards having the wall pressed against your back. You touched the woven chocker that clung on your neck in nervousness, it almost felt natural to do this.
"Stay back!" you hurled, switfly pickup up a lose plank.
"I said-"
The boys lifted their hands in surrender, "Hey we aren't going to hurt you. " The boy had a funny accent, it sounded familiar like you already heared it before.
Another boy with blond hair rolled his eyes and folded his arms, simply grabbing you by the arm and dragging you out of the box. Quickly you grapped the plank even tighter and whacked him a few times with it, the people around you started laughing.
"Shucking hell greenie, you have to do that?"
Despite the fact that you were scared, almost peed your pants in the Box you surprisingly survived the day. Newt, yes that's his name showed you around the Glade with the leader Alby. Supposedly that's what they call it the Glade, you stuck besides them the whole day. They were like water and fire, while Alby was harsh and strict Newt was more kind and no that doesn't mean laidback. You knew after a day they both valued order and following the rules.
It was still sunny, but you smelled the aroma of dinner. The three of you walked away from the animals and the scent of grass filled in your nose.
"So if I got it right, every month new supplies and a new person," they both nodded while continuing walking. "And you guys don't know who?"
"No, we don't." Alby said.
Lifting your brows, "Well I thought it's W.I.C.K.E.D. do you want to know why?"
"No," he said again. "We know that W.I.C.K.E.D is sending us here, but who are they behind the name? That's what whe want to know."
Suddenly feeling utter ridiculous, you looked at the ground. "Yeah, I guess so," the three of you fell in a silent for a bit.
"Do you already-"
"It is really asocial to put people in here without memory, which douchebags does that?"
"Yeah," mumbled the two of them.
"And don't go into those creepy looking, really tall walls where you hear sometimes whirring if you're not a Runner, am I right?"
"Yep."
"Do your part, no time for not doing anything. Never harm any Glader bla bla bla."
Hearing feet pattering on the ground you met with the black eyes of a boy, he looked confused why a girl was in the Maze but quickly he gave a smirk. He ran to the side of Newt and folded his arm around his shoulder and pressed Newt against him. He just came back from the Map Room where he had drawn the route he sprinted during the day and you couldn't help but notice that he was cute, very cute and sweaty.
"Thanks mate, I really appreaciate your sweaty pit." Newt grimached and pushed him away, that earned a scoff from the boy.
"It's the sweat of champions, I would appreciate it too if I were you." He gave a lopsided smile and talked a bit with Alby and Newt. The Homestead was coming closer and after a bit of chatting the boy tore his gaze from Newt and Alby and focused on you.
"You're.." he paused for a moment, not really knowing what to say. Lifting a brow you kept his gaze. "You're a girl," he stated.
"Good eyesight," he couldn't help but notice the sarcasm dripping of your tone.
"Thanks, I have a gift to spot pretty things," with only that the converstation ended. Leaving you spluttered with warm cheeks and him with an amused glint in his eyes. It was like he had the last word. Then his gaze shifted to your neck, a woven necklace from thin rope clung tightly around it. It was worn you could easily see the oldness behind it, it almost whispered the tale why you wore it. Somehow an unfamiliar feeling crept up in his belly, it was confusing. He only knew you for a few minutes, but that necklace felt familiar. He shook his head and pushed the thoughts away, it's shucking ridiculous.
When he tore his gaze off from you, something gnaged at you. Something that you couldn't place. Still, you kept looking at him trying to figure out what was bothering you.
Minho.
As quick as that name went off in your head, as quick went it away. Why did you know his name before he said anything?
"I'm Minho, by the way. Do you remember your name already newbie?"
Wow, you must be really good at guessing people their names, but something deep inside of you raised the alarmbells.
You wanted to answer, but no you still didn't know your name. What the hell, you know your curse words but not even your fucking name?
Panic crawled up from your toes to your throat, licking and burning like it's fire. Alby easily spotted your panic, giving a firm shove at Minho. "It's normal for newbies that they don't know their name, but don't worry it will come back." He said giving his rare smiles at you.
The chattering of the boys became louder and the four of you arrived just in time for dinner! You picked up a plate and scooped hot pulled pork with vegetables on it. The sight from it made you mouth water and you questioned who made this delicious meal. You turned around and your face fell into a slight frown.
The boys were eating disgusting, you grimaced.
The other three already sat down. Scanning the room you looked for a place to sit, insecurity bloomed in your body. Did someone even want you to join their table? Unsure what to do you dwelled on the fact that you felt horribly out of place. You were the only girl surrounded with boys, who wouldn't feel out of place? Shifting from leg to leg, you looked outside into the forest.
But Newt quickly pulled you out of your thoughts and waved you over and you gladly accepted it.
"Bloody Hell, for a moment we thought that you would eat standing. "
You gave a small 'smirk', hoping that they wouldn't notice your doubt.
"Ofcourse not," you casually said while sitting on the bench next to Minho. "I was just admiring the view."
"Yeah the view is absolutely beautiful," rolling his eyes Minho took a bite from his food.
-
You quickly became familiar with everyone and after a few weeks of trying out the jobs you found out that being a Med Jack and a part timer Garderner suited you the best. You spent most days learning new technics and you even requisted a book about plants from the Creators (that's what the other Gladers called W.I.C.K.E.D I guess.). The 'free' time when there weren't any injured Gladers, you found yourself with your hands in the ground planting and nursing your medical plants.
"You shank!" You pushed Clint away. "You almost made me dropped this!" For extra dramatic purposes you pushed the beeswax almost up to his nose while you heard Jeff laughing.
Your integration went pretty well, you easily picked up the strange curse words and after a few days you learned your name.
Y/N.
Everyone knew the first aid post, it was a large wooden shack that laid near the west wall of the Maze and everyone knew that you worked there. And so in the first few weeks of your career the stream of wounded Gladers kept coming.
"We never have seen so many injuries in such a short time," Jeff noticed. You only had a few seconds to put down your beeswax before he poked at your sides. "They just want to be treated by the oh so pretty Y/N!"
Grumbling some curse words at him you swatted his hands away while Clint made kissing noises.
"Stop it! Both of you!"
"But Y/N, you're so easy to make fun off!" Clint said.
Pushing his head away you walked to the sink to disinfect your hands while picking up two jars. One was empty and the other was filled with calendula oil, after disinfecting the empty one you simply ignored Clint and Jeffs tantics.
The three of left eachother alone after that and you thanked the Creators that you finally had the time to make the calendula ointment. Picking up the jars you brought them to the stove where you melted the beeswax, it was a calming experience after nursing a lot of boys. After two weeks you noticed that a lot of them did it on purpose and you sended most of them of to Jeff and Clint, "who have much more experience" you told to them with a sly smile.
The creaking of the door pulled you out of your thoughts and a bruised Minho stepped inside. Putting down the stuff you washed your hands again while barking: "Sit!" to him.
While you were surprised that he took your advice, Clint en Jeff shared a look.
The teenager was under the small cuts and blood trickled out of some gashes. The med-box was in no time in your hands and you crouched down, "Do you have any more injuries than just your face?"
"No."
You gave Jeff and Clint a look that said: "Am I the right person?"
They both nodded.
For some weird reason the past few days you couldn't look him in the eyes. Maybe he was to pretty or something and you were still hurt.
He couldn't meet your eyes either, well that was a first. He thought that if he looked you straight in the eye, you could see what he was thinking and yeah that would be really awkward for the both of you. And so he focused his gaze on your woven necklace, the weeks that you lived here he thought about it. The only thing that felt familiar for the first time while he arrived so many years ago in the Glade. He wanted to touch it, maybe then he could figure out why this thing was bothering him so much, but deep down he knew that would be fruitless.
He felt your hand resting on his shoulder to steady yourself and immediately the place went on fire. He coughed in embarrassment and you looked him in the eye for a second before breaking it, feeling a bit shy maybe, no hurt? He didn't know, but he didn't ask, too afraid that you retorted the question back. Last week he came to the realisation that you were pretty and that he wanted to be near you. And so in his logically mind he decided to avoid you.
What an idiot, isn't he?
The stinging sensation brought his mind back to the real world and he mumbled an: "Ow that hurt!"
You were dabbing an cottonpad with some anti-bacterial liquid on it and you weren't really careful with it.
"That's what you getting from ignoring me, stupid."
"I'm sorry but some people have to do actually important jobs", he flashed you a smile.
Narrowing your eyes, you sighed irritably: "Shut up."
"You wish."
But the two of you dropped the subject and didn't mention it anymore.
-
You were still bothered by it, and you didn't know what to think of it. Why did you know Minho's name before your own? It was weird, really, really weird and to be honest you thought about it daily. You got from W.I.C.K.E.D (no, the Creators) some dark blue dungarees that you put on when you were in the Gardens and instead of whispering some lovingly words to your plants, you were thinking about him.
With his stupid but cute face.
Wait no, with his stupid face.
If someone found out that you thought Minho was handsome than your life would be truly over.
You were still mad at him tho, he ignored you for a whole week! What was wrong with that guy?
Anyways back to the main topic, his name. While you thought about it, the sun was scorching on your back while sweat dripped on your back.
Fuck, it's hot.
No matter how long you thought about it, you couldn't think of an answer and so the logically answer was to annoy Newt with this information.
"So you knew his name the second you saw his face?" he said in disbelief. Holding his hoe even tighter.
You nodded.
"Bloody hell Y/N, how?"
"How am I supposed to know, shank?"
-
A new Greenie arrived, you were now two months in the Glade.
Stars were twinkling in the night sky and the heath of the bonfire licked at your body. Boys were laughing and chattering and some were even dancing from the high of Gally's stoken alcohol. You couldn't judge them, the beverage was really strong and nursing a glass in your hand you looked at Gally who invited the Greenie to fight.
Ah shit, you thought. It didn't really ended well with the two of you while you wrestled on your Bonfire, leaving you with a bloody nose and a bruised body. While he couldn't see out of his eye for the whole week, oh how you felt so proud to see him with a black eye.
Standing up you walked to the circle while everbody stood with anticipation who would win. Gally was stronger that's for sure, shoving the Greenie towards the outercircle but after a few minutes it was him who laid on the ground while the Greenie supported a small smirk.
Quickly nudging Minho and Newt you gave them a laugh, maybe Gally would finally lose. Then he swiped his leg and the new guy fell on the ground with his head falling hard on the dirt. He groaned for a moment but then a light bulb went off, mumbling something under his breath.
With a look full of disbelief he stood up, "Thomas." Turning around he said it again. "I remember my name, I'm Thomas!"
"Thomas!" Alby cheered and the rest of the boys including you whooped and hollored.
When everything quieted down, Minho and you sat on a wooden bench. It was quiet between the two of you, unable to control the nervousness in your stomach you watched the fire curling up.
"How do you even got that?" He suddenly asked.
"What?" You said back to him, now your gaze resting on his face. The fire gave his skin a nice hue.
"That," he leaned forward and touched the woven necklace that you always wore. His face was a few centimetres away from you and feeling his breath fanning up in your neck made your stomach doing flipflops.
The necklace was made of straw at least that's what Minho thought, by the looks of it the maker wasn't really good but whatever, it was cute.
"I dont know, I wore it since I came up in the box. Maybe it was really important to me before I came here," a whisper, you didn't dare to speak louder than a whisper in fear that he could hear your nervousness.
"It suits you," he whispered while leaning back. "Shank," he said with a grin.
And poof the romantic air was gone, crossing your arms you sarcastically said: "Gee thanks, thought that we had something goin' on."
-
Your back was pressed hard against the three, the prickly bark against your skin made you feel grounded. In these two months you loved the night scenery more than the day, the sun was just too bright and just a tad more orange than you remembered. It gave you a shiver along your back when you thought too much of it. With the recent events that happened in the Glade, your uneasiness grew and grew (even more than you had arrived.).
Your nails dug in the palm of your hands, while Minho raised a brow.
"Are you okay, slinthead?"
Could you say it to him? What your thoughts were about those recent events, about Thomas? You mindlessy tugged at your necklace.
Would Minho become mad?
The thought about him getting mad maked you sad, but you had too tell him hoping that he would ease your mind and so you spoke with hesitation.
"Something shifted when Thomas arrived here," the two of you had to whisper because the others were already asleep.
Opening his mouth Minho wanted to say something, something to defend Thomas.
"Are you getting on his back now too Y/N?" you could hear the irritation slipping out.
"No! Ofcourse not!"
He didn't look at you, tossing a small rock, "Yeah right."
Shaking your head your thoughts were running lapses, why would he think that?
Standing up the fallen leaves crushed underneath Minho's shoes, "I think I'm going to sleep, enjoy your night." With that he left you alone.
His steps were louder than he hoped, still angry at the situation that happened a few seconds ago. Why are you accusing Thomas for all these things? Whacking the mosquitoes away his mood became worse.
"Shucking things."
"Minho wait!"
He walked further, he could see the outlines of the Homestead. Just a few minutes walking and then he could finally sleep, finally!
"Minho!" your voice was louder and you tucked at his arm. He turned around and met your E/C eyes. "Let me explain," you begged to him.
He didn't said anything but he didn't walk away either and so you talked. "In these few days that he's here with the girl, he became my friend too!"
Oof that sounded a bit too defensive.
"Alright that came out wrong, I care about him and her but I'm talking about Thomas right now. Ever since he got here the dynamic of the group feels off, some like him and some find him suspicious like Gally." taking a breath you continued. "Just because I consider him a friend doesn't mean I can turn a blind eye to what happens here right now!" you kicked at a metal beetle that walked on the leaves and dirt.
He scowled at your accusation but held his mouth.
"First that girl Teresa, then Ben that was stung by those disgusting Grievers and-and," tears stung in your eyes and you took a deep breath. "And a few days ago you, Alby and Thomas were stuck in the Maze, I was.." A few tears fell on your cheeks, hugging yourself you looked at the ground. "I- uh I thouht you were going to die and I was so- I was so scared, Minho."
His gaze softend and he touched your shoulder in comfort. "Well I'm still here, am I?"
You wiped with the back of your hand your tears away, "and I didn't know what to do and I'm scared.." you couldn't even finish your sentence before you started sobbing.
He pulled you in for a hug and you grabbed firmly a piece of his shirt, "I'm sorry," you whispered again and again. Although he was still irritated at your accusation his heart broke after seeing you cry, he petted the back of your hair soothingly and he reassured you.
"It's okay."
He had seen you cry before, he calmed you before and he stood by while your other friends consoled you, you even consoled him a few times but he never saw you so upset like now.
"I'm not blaming Thomas you know," you mumbled in his shirt after a few minutes. "It's just I think somehow Thomas is a piece of something we don't know yet, something bigger than us, something more influential. I think he catalyzed something when he arrived in the Box. I'm sorry I shouldn't have attacked him like that."
"And I should've heard you out, are you good again?"
"Yeah," the two of you let eachother go and the both of you walked to the Homestead.
"Sorry that I cried on your shirt."
"It's alright shank, it's like a little souvenir."
He admired your smartness, in that moment.
-
The morning came too quick and the day went too slow, you didn't slept for one second that night and Clint and Jeff were doing their best to keep you awake. The three of you took shifts about stacking the supplies, caring for the still unconcious Teresa and Alby.
He was still panicky telling things about the Flare (what is that?) and he told you things about Thomas that made your stomach drop.
What did he mean that you worked with the enemy? It's not like you could ask him, he wouldn't even remember it and so you store the information away for a next time.
You didn't like how this was going at all.
Washing your hands in the sink you watched your appearance carefully, the bags under your eyes growing with the day. A sign that you slept badly, it's not like you didn't want to sleep but you were plagued with nightmared after what happened with him.
Him.
Minho.
You were terrified that day, already thinking the worst. For the rest of the day you couldn't even work only thinking about them. You cried for the first time yourself to sleep that night.
You shifted your gaze away, it was time for work.
You checked the vitals of Alby who stared ahead of him and changed the bandages on the fresh wounds. "You're wounds are healing fine, Alby. How is your neck feeling?"
"Sore," he grumbled.
"Shall I get you an ice pack?
"Yes that's fine."
When you got back he gratefully took it and oressed it lightly on his bruise. The two of you sat in silence for a moment, you shift wasn't over.
"You and Minho huh..-" he said slowly.
"Yeah what's with us?" You shot up out of your chair after almost felling asleep.
"You two were a cute couple."
What, what did he mean by that?
You and him were a couple?
That would be impossible you knew him for two months!
"What do you mean by that?"
"Like I just said!" He didn't gave any room to ask more questions.
He pointed at your necklace and said further: "He woved that necklace for you."
He didn't talk further, but a soft smile graced your feautures.
-
Everyone laid in their hamacs, the stars were twinkling in the night sky. Some were fast asleep were others were still chatting with eachother, you stared at the stars.
Looking at them gave you in a strange way hope, a new beginning, to be free. Because let's be honest everyone here including you is trapped. But you weren't awake to marvel at the sky, no you were confused by what Alby said.
Minho and you were according to him in a relationship.
That didn't make any sense.
But why did you felt so comfortable around him?
Why did he make you so nervous and so relaxed, like you were high on a kite? High on love, was that possible?
And could it be that you had a life before the Glade?
A life where you were with Minho, did you even had parents? Siblings? Maybe even a pet? Did Minho take you to the cinema? You knew what they were, but you couldn't remember if you ever watched a movie in there. Did you had friends, people who you cared for other than the ones in the Glade?
It made you sad that you couldn't remember one thing from your past.
Did your parents love you?
A deep gnaching hole appeared in your heart when you thought about your family. You didn't even know if you had any.
But what Alby said, if this was true than you knew Alby before you were sent in the Glade. Does that mean what Gally said about Thomas that it was true?
That he couldn't be trusted?
You didn't knew him long, but you could tell that he was trustworthy. Maybe he changed after he lost his memory, because you couldn't no you wouldn't believe that this was for pretend and he was still his 'old self'.
You softly smiled at yourself if it was really true that Minho and you were together, does that mean it can still happen?
You tried to stay awake but with those thoughts you fell in a deep sleep.
It was a sunny day and you could smell the freshky rained grass and the flowers from the Homestead. Today should be a nice day, a good day to take care of your plants. You didn't want to think about what happened yesterday, to the Runner Ben. That boy didn't deserve that fate, but he tried to kill Thomas and that can't be tolerated. You faintly smelled the blood on your flowers, it made you sick.
Hours and hours long you sat still as a mouse by your plants, you only watered them after each quarter. The thick red liquid splashed down on your plants giving them a freshly new colour. The artificial sun set down, that gave your sight a slight blur, it was time for dinner. With blood coating on your shoes you walked to the Homestead, leaving bloody imprints in the green grass.
No one was there, but when you looked at the West Door suddenly you understood. You were there in a second, everyone was huddled in a circle screaming supportive things. Time literally stood still, tears pooled in your eyes. The walls were closing and there he was Minho, holding an unconcious Alby. Looking to the ground a small puddle of your tears were beneath your feet while dried flowers floated in the waters mixed with the blood on your shoes. You could've swore you saw the same blood coated on the walls in the Maze. You looked at them again, the boys next to you were faceless.
They weren't going to make it, Minho looked exhausted with dirt smeared across his face and small cuts on his body but Alby looked even worse. Orange bumps appeared on his body, suddenly the walls were covered in them too and at the same time they were leaking. The ground was slippery and Minho almost fell (or did he trip because he was too exhausted?). Suddenly the orange bumps where gone and before the walls could close Thomas wormed himself to them and then nothing, you couldn't see them anymore.
Everyone was away, you sat alone by the wall. You didn't know for how long, eyes red and puffy you stared blanky forwards.
They were going to die.
You scrunched your brows and you couldn't help but sobbing again. With trembling hands you covered your whails in the hope that nobody would notice. Newt walked up to you with two warm plates, he himself didn't looked very well either. Two persons crying with eachother while trying to eat their food, that was friendship.
Tears flow in your hammock, the thought of them of Minho being gone made you feel hopeless. Your breathing was to quick and your nose was stuffed with snot. With trembling hand you gribbed at your hair in frustration. Why couldn't you, why couldn't you switch-
"Y/N,"
Someone called out your name, was that Minho's ghost to say goodbye?
"Y/N?" someone was shoving you hard.
"Y/N!"
With a hard gasp you woke up, sitting in a second upright. Startling the chubby boy, he took a step backwards.
"You were-were crying and I had to wake you up. Because you were waking everyone up,"he said with a cheeky grin. He promply got a shove from Newt.
Where's Minho?
Is he allright?
Eyes wide, breathing frantic, you looked around, Only these two were awake and if you weren't in such a state you would say something to Chuck.
"You alright Y/N? Nightmare?"
You nodded still not sure if your voice would be steady, but Minho. Is he still in the Maze? Your sleepy brain forgot that he was already back.
"Minho," you croaked out, your throat feeling like sandpaper.
"He is fine, I promise you." Newt spoke to you, he knew that Minho was important to you. But when he didn't get the answer he was hoping for he walked a way to retrieve him, fuck his sleep right?
Chuck sat next to you on your hammock, mumbling stories in the hope that you would feel okay. You couldn't feel okay, only if you knew if Minho was safe.
"Minho," Newt shaked his shoulder. "Wake up, sleepyhead."
Slowly blinking for a few seconds, he woke up. The sky was still dark and he rolled his eyes at the boy with the accent. "What?"
He pushed himself upwards and sat on his hammock, rubbing his eye boogers away. "This better be important, dude."
"Your girl needs you, you slinthead. She's all shaken up from a nightmare, Chuck is now with her." Newt whispered to him.
Suddenly he woke up, he choose to ignore Newt's words about you being his girl. If he stood still by his words, he would like that but now wasn't the time. He walked fastly through the sleeping boys and his heart broke again when he heard your crying for the second time in the last few days.
Something really has shaking you up and he knew exactly what, he couldn't help but beat himself up for getting stuck in the Maze. Not knowing that it would destroy you. Your hammock came in his sight and he quickend his pace.
"Hey, Y/N," he whispered placing his hand on your shoulder. Chuck seeing his liberation quickly stood up and mumbled a quiet goodnight and walked though his hammock.
You placed your hand above his and a broken laugh and sob came out of your mouth.
"Minho, you're safe."
"I can't leavemy girl behind, can't I?" he said with a small laugh but he quickly wiped his own tears away when you didn't look.
Newt tiptoed away to his own bed, seeing that the situation was under control, a small smirk on his face. Minho wouldn't see the end of it, surely.
You embraced him, that he gladly welcomed. The two of you sitting now on your hammock while your hand sneaked through his hair. Your breathing now normal. "I thought you were stuck in the Maze again," you whispered only for him to hear. "I had a nightmare about that day."
"I have them too after my adventure," he whispered honestly back.
He dropped his head into the crook of your neck and in the heat of the moment you planted a kiss at the top of his head. His body froze and you hoped that he wouldn't reject you, but to your surprise he quickly relaxed again and the two of you cuddled for a few minutes without saying a word.
"Hey Minho," you grabbed his attention. "Do you want to know what Alby told me today?" Looking into his eyes, you searched for an answer.
"Sure tell me."
"He told me," suddenly you grew nervous. What if he didn't like what you are going to say?
"He told you what?" He shook you out of your thoughts and you didn't meet his eyes.
"He told me," you took a deep breath. "He told me we were a couple before all this."
You thought he would laugh, that it would be ridiculous but instead he gave you a warm smile. "Really?" He said in disbelief.
"Really and that you woved this necklace for me."
Oops, he couldn't believe that he tought that his own necklace was ugly. Anyways.
"Alby told you that?"
"Yes, he did."
And before you could say anything again, he hyped himself up and looked at you. You really are beautiful. With his tumb and his indexfinger he grabbed your chin and looked at your lips. "May I?"
"Yes, you may."
He gave a sweet but short kiss on your lips and after the two of you departed you felt your face become hot. "Now sleep," he demanded. "The last few days you look like a zombie."
"So kind are you," you shot back but you didn complain. Instead you were laying down and you pulled him with you. "Only if you stay," you said with a cheeky smile.
"I couldn't even climb out even if I wanted to."
The two of you laid down and quickly fell asleep with the soft snoring of the other Gladers as background music. The two of you were going to be bullied relentlessly, but you didn't care.
Your fears were now calmed down even if it was for a bit, but you couldn't ask for more.
Face à l'ordinateur, tu es en train d’effectuer tes tâches habituelles : observer le Labyrinthe A, tester les sujets et noter les résultats des expériences de la journée. Tu les exécutes tel un robot. Tu sais que si tu réfléchis trop, tu réaliseras tout le mal que tu fais. Alors, tu tentes de garder une distance émotionnelle avec les épreuves du Labyrinthe, avec les sujets, avec tes amis. Toutefois, certains jours sont plus compliqués que d’autres, surtout quand de bon matin, on te tend un dossier avec le mot "décès". Parfois tu assistes à ces morts en direct, d'autres fois ils se produisent quand ton travail est déjà terminé. En commençant ta journée, tu ne savais pas qu’une autre personne avait échoué à l'épreuve. Anxieuse, tu ouvres le dossier et lis "Sujet A25 : Nicolas". Les larmes te montent aux yeux en une seconde. Tu refermes le classeur et prétextes aller aux toilettes. Tu retiens tes larmes jusqu'à la fermeture de la porte. Tu essayes de sangloter en silence, mais si on tend l’oreille, on peut entendre ta souffrance. Ta respiration se fait de plus en plus courte à chaque fois que tu repenses à cette fiche. Cette fiche annonçant le décès de ton meilleur ami depuis que tu as dix ans. Il n’est pas le premier proche à mourir, mais cette mort est la goutte de trop. Tu voudrais crier pour sortir tout ton désespoir, mais tu ne peux pas. Tu ne dois pas avoir de sentiments en travaillant pour W.I.C.K.E.D. Tu es là pour trouver un remède, pas pour faire dans les émotions. Des sacrifices doivent être faits. Tu ne dois pas l'oublier. Janson ne le permettra pas. Tes pleurs se font de plus en plus forts quand on frappe à la porte. Tes sanglots s'interrompent, craignant qu'on te découvre. En entendant la voix de Thomas, tu lui ouvres. Il reste devant toi pendant quelques secondes avant d'oser prendre la parole :
- J'ai lu le dossier. Je suis désolé, Y/N.
- J'en ai marre, Thomas, lâches-tu, en colère. Je n'en peux plus de tous les voir mourir. J'en peux plus de voir mes amis mourir. Je veux que ça se termine ! Je sais qu'on fait ça pour la bonne cause, mais est-ce qu'on doit vraiment sacrifier toutes ces vies humaines pour un potentiel remède ? Ce n'est pas juste.
- Je sais.
- Je veux les sortir de là. Je veux qu'on les sorte de là et qu'on parte avec eux, loin de W.I.C.K.E.D. Je ne supporterai pas une nouvelle mort, Thomas. Je... je ne pourrai pas, prononces-tu d’une voix brisée.
Ignorant quoi dire, Thomas te prend dans ses bras. Il espère te rassurer, mais il sait que dans cette situation, ça serait une utopie. Vous êtes condamnés à voir des horreurs dans l'espoir de sauver l'humanité. Rien de ce qu'il pourrait faire ou dire ne pourrait t’aider à aller mieux. Il le sait car il tente chaque jour de se rassurer lui-même, en vain.
- On devrait y aller, reprends-tu en te séparant de ton ami. Janson va se demander où on est passé.
- Ça va aller ?
- Ça va aller pour eux ? rétorques-tu, les yeux remplis de souffrance.
Thomas reste silencieux, sachant qu’il ne peut répondre à cette question honnêtement. Tu lui lances un dernier regard, quittes les toilettes et retournes à ton poste. Thomas te rejoint quelques minutes plus tard, une expression neutre au visage. De ton côté, tu utilises ton ordinateur comme si quelques instants auparavant tu n’avais pas été submergée par tes émotions. Vous agissez comme on vous l’a toujours appris.
Les jours suivants, tu fais ton deuil en silence. Thomas se montre présent, même s’il a l'impression d'être inutile. Cependant, il a beau ne pas le réaliser, mais il t'aide à ne pas sombrer, car tu te dis que malgré tout, tu as encore Thomas. Tu n’es pas totalement perdue. Tu as encore une raison de continuer.
Ce soir-là, vous quittez vos dortoirs respectifs, vous retrouvant dans une pièce isolée du centre de W.I.C.K.E.D, comme vous le faites toujours quand l’un de vous ne va pas bien. Vous n’y faites rien de spécial. Vous restez enlacés, tentant d'oublier la douleur du monde et la votre. Ce n’est pas un succès, mais vous êtes présent l’un pour l’autre. Un soir, Thomas brise le silence en donnant une information importante :
- Je sais comment on peut les aider.
- Qu'est-ce que tu veux dire ?
- Tu te rappelles du médecin Mary ? demande-t-il, te faisant hocher la tête. Elle est partie, car elle n’est plus d'accord avec leurs expériences. Elle travaille avec le Bras Droit maintenant.
- Le Bras Droit, l'organisation de résistance ? t’assures-tu en le regardant.
- Ouais. Je pense qu'elle a pu retarder pas mal de leurs plans grâce aux informations qu'elle avait, mais maintenant, elle n'a plus accès à rien. Si on arrive à communiquer avec elle, on peut les aider. On leur donnera tout ce dont ils auront besoin avant de partir, déclare Thomas, déterminé.
- Comment tu vas la retrouver ? Le Bras Droit doit être intraçable.
- J'ai commencé mes recherches quand on a appris la mort de Nicolas. Je crois que je suis sur le point de les trouver. Ça sera dangereux, mais on pourra sortir nos amis de ces Labyrinthes. Qu'est-ce que t'en dis ?
- Je suis avec toi, acceptes-tu, sans hésitation. Je veux faire tomber W.I.C.K.E.D.
Vous vous regardez dans les yeux, le courage ayant pris possession de votre corps. Vous avez un plan et vous comptez le mettre à exécution le plus tôt possible. Les sacrifices ont assez duré.
Tumblr media
Quand Thomas arrive enfin à trouver le Bras Droit, il te prévient. Pendant la nuit, vous vous infiltrez dans une des rares pièces avec des radios pouvant communiquer avec l'extérieur et commencez l'appel. Tu es à la fois contente d'être proche du but et effrayée que le Bras Droit ne vous fasse pas confiance.
- Allô ? Je suis Thomas, je travaille pour W.I.C.K.E.D et j'ai des informations pour vous, initie-t-il la conversation, sans réponse. Mary ? Tu es là ? C'est moi, Thomas. Je peux vous aider.
Vous restez silencieux pendant quelques instants. Thomas est sur le point de couper la communication quand vous entendez une voix féminine :
- Thomas ? Je n'aurais jamais cru avoir de tes nouvelles. Tu es en sécurité ? Tu es seul ?
- Y/N est avec moi. On veut vous donner toutes les infos dont vous aurez besoin pour faire tomber W.I.C.K.E.D. On ne veut plus voir nos amis mourir.
- On veut que ça cesse. Aucune personne dans ces Labyrinthes mérite d'y être. On veut les sauver, ajoutes-tu, les larmes aux yeux.
- Très bien. Je vais en parler avec les autres membres du Bras Droit. Je vous rappellerai demain à la même heure pour qu'on s'organise. Faites profil bas.
- Merci Mary.
L'appel terminé, Thomas range la radio et se tourne vers toi. Même si vous devez attendre l'approbation du Bras Droit, vous ne pouvez pas vous empêcher de sourire. Vous avez le soutien de Mary. Vous allez pouvoir vous en sortir.
- Merci Thomas, dis-tu. Tu m'as redonné un peu d'espoir. Je n'aurais jamais cru ça possible.
- On fera tout pour les aider. On va y arriver.
Quand le Bras Droit accepte de collaborer avec vous, vous commencez à récolter les données importantes et à les communiquer une fois par semaine. Vous en donnez un peu à la fois pour qu'ils puissent s'organiser sans alerter le Docteur Paige ou pire Janson.
Un soir, quand tu es en train de te préparer pour aller dormir, Teresa te prend à part, un sourire compatissant sur le visage.
- On m'a dit pour Nicolas. Je suis désolée, déclare-t-elle, sincère. Mais on ne doit pas oublier pourquoi on fait tout ça. On doit trouver un remède. Braise devient de plus en plus mortel.
- Je sais, réponds-tu sans émotion. Je vais me coucher, je suis fatiguée.
Teresa pose sa main sur ton bras, montrant son soutien. Tu lui souris légèrement avant de partir vers ton lit. Les propos de ton amie t’ont froissé. Tu sais que Teresa n'agit pas méchamment. Elle t’a raconté son histoire avec sa mère, tu comprends pourquoi elle veut autant trouver un remède. Mais pour toi, ça ne justifie pas le fait qu'on agisse comme si ces morts ne représentent rien. Elles représentent quelque chose pour toi : ta lâcheté, ton impuissance, ta douleur, mais surtout ton privilège d'avoir pu échapper à ces Épreuves.
Quand Thomas et toi avez commencé à travailler pour le Bras Droit, tu avais pensé à en parler à Teresa, mais tes doutes t’avaient retenu. Ta conversation avec ton amie te prouve que tu as bien fait. Teresa n'aurait pas cautionné vos agissements, peu importe si vous êtes amis. Pour elle, W.I.C.K.E.D est réellement bon.
Tumblr media
Deux mois sont passés, toi et Thomas avez réussi à transférer des informations sans vous faire remarquer. Les soirs où W.I.C.K.E.D doivent gérer des crises, vous donnez un peu plus de renseignements, permettant au Bras Droit de mettre en place des plans d'attaques plus importants. Vous restez encore sur la base de W.I.C.K.E.D, attendant le moment parfait pour fuir.
Un soir où Thomas donne les données de la semaine, il te rejoint dans votre pièce. En plus d’être votre refuge, il est maintenant le lieu que vous utilisez en attendant l’autre afin de débriefer.
Quand Thomas entre dans le lieu, il s'assoit à tes côtés à même le sol. Vous vous prenez dans les bras et restez d'abord silencieux, permettant à Thomas de relâcher le stress d'être découvert. Quand sa respiration est plus calme, il attire ton attention.
- La semaine prochaine, on quitte la base. J’en ai parlé avec Mary et si on donne tous les emplacements des complexes et laboratoires, ils auront tout pour faire tomber W.I.C.K.E.D donc on pourra se faire la malle. Tu te chargeras de tout transférer et je gérerai notre sortie. Ils pourront sauver nos amis des Labyrinthes et nous éloigner de cet organisme. Tout est arrangé.
- Thomas, c'est risqué, rétorques-tu, anxieuse. On a déjà eu beaucoup de chance de pas s'être encore fait attraper. Ça ferait trop d'un coup.
- On a une semaine pour tout planifier comme il faut. J'ai déjà une idée de la façon dont je vais m'y prendre. Ne t'inquiète pas, on va sortir d'ici, te rassure-t-il, te faisant réfléchir un peu plus.
- Je te fais confiance, Thomas.
La semaine d'après, votre plan est au point. Il est toujours risqué, mais il peut fonctionner. Vous avez fait encore plus preuve de discrétion, ne voulant pas donner de raisons à Janson d'être suspicieux. Vous faites exactement ce qui est demandé, sans montrer le moindre signe de rébellion.
Le plan en marche, tu saisis tous les dossiers que tu dois envoyer, ça prend plus de temps que d'habitude. Ton stress est à son paroxysme en regardant la ligne de téléchargement. Tu ne cesses de jeter des coups d'œil de tous les côtés, effrayée d’être découverte. Du côté de Thomas, il se dirige vers la salle de contrôle. Il doit être sûr que vous puissiez sortir du complexe quand tu auras fini. Il doit confronter quelques gardes qu'il arrive à maîtriser de justesse avant d’y arriver. Pendant qu'il fait les manœuvres pour ouvrir les portes, les dernières données sont enfin transférées au Bras Droit. Tu soupires de soulagement et quittes la pièce. Tu fais attention en te rendant au lieu indiqué par Thomas. Quand celui-ci a fini de tout préparer pour votre évasion, il entend le talkie-walkie d'un garde qu'il a assommé :
- Besoin de renfort. Un sujet hors des dortoirs. Infos transférées vers l’extérieur. Janson au courant. Terminé.
La panique prend possession du corps de Thomas, il quitte les lieux en courant. Il ne cherche pas à être discret, il veut juste te retrouver. Vous ne pouvez pas perdre une seconde de plus, c’est le moment ou jamais pour partir. Dans ses recherches, Thomas tombe sur Teresa au détour d'un couloir.
- Thomas ? Qu'est-ce que tu fais là ? questionne-t-elle.
- Je pourrais te dire la même chose, réplique-t-il en cachant son stress.
- Je travaille avec le Docteur Paige après ma journée. Tout va bien ? Tu devrais être dans ton dortoir.
- Je... Je dois retrouver Y/N, avoue Thomas, ne voulant pas perdre plus de temps. Écoute, on va partir d'ici, ce soir, mais elle s'est faite attraper. Aide-moi à la retrouver. Que tu veuilles nous suivre ou non, ça ne tient qu’à toi, mais aide-moi. On veut juste quitter cet endroit. On ne veut plus avoir toutes ces morts sur la conscience.
- Thomas, je ne…
- Tu vas m'aider, oui ou non ?! l'interrompt-il, impatient.
Teresa n'a pas le temps de répondre que des gardes saisit Thomas par le bras et le tirent en arrière. Il tente de se débattre alors que Teresa est choquée face à la scène. Thomas est traîné de force dans une section du complexe qu'il connait que trop bien. Ils vont effacer ses souvenirs et l'envoyer dans le Labyrinthe. Il ne peut pas laisser ça se produire. Il doit se débattre. Il doit au moins s'assurer que tu es en sécurité. Les gardes resserrent leur poigne sur l'adolescent, l'empêchant de bouger. En arrivant dans la pièce, ils l'attachent de force sur un brancard avant de lui injecter un produit, l'endormant instantanément. Thomas est changé pendant qu'il reçoit d'autres piqûres, Janson supervisant l’intervention. De ton côté, tu es en train de subir un interrogatoire violent. Ils veulent savoir où se cache le Bras Droit. Tu restes silencieuse à chaque coup de poing. Tu tentes de te remettre d'un énième coup quand tu entends rapidement un talkie-walkie. Un des gardes te prend par le bras et te force à marcher. Tu ne regardes même pas où tu vas, trop épuisée. Rien n'a d'importance. On t’a attrapé. Tu ne pourras pas t’échapper. Tu seras mise sous haute surveillance ou alors tu seras envoyée dans le Labyrinthe. Tu espères simplement que Thomas a été plus chanceux que toi. Quand avec les gardes vous arrivez dans une salle, ils te jettent au sol. Tu ne bronches pas jusqu'à ce que la voix de Janson résonne :
- Je dois dire que tu aurais pu nous avoir. On se doutait qu'il y avait des fuites, mais rien n'était sûr. Tu as su cacher ta trahison. Mais ça n'a pas suffi. Vous avez été négligent aujourd’hui, ce qui vous a valu d'être découvert.
- Vous ? demandes-tu, espérant avoir mal entendu.
- Je sais très bien que tu n'as pas agi seule, Y/N. Dis bonjour à Thomas. Il est juste là, sourit-il en faisant signe derrière lui.
- Thomas ? Laissez-le partir ! cries-tu en tentant de te relever, mais les gardes te retiennent. C'était mon idée ! Ce n'est pas de sa faute. Laissez-le !
Tu as le regard fixé sur Thomas qui est emprisonné dans une sorte de bassin vertical en verre se remplissant d'eau. Il frappe sur la vitre alors que Janson se rapproche de toi avec un sourire machiavélique.
- Vous êtes tous les deux dans le coup. Vous allez payer les conséquences de votre égoïsme.
- Notre égoïsme ? La bonne blague.
- Vous avez essayé de faire échouer les tests pour trouver un vaccin qui pourrait sauver l'humanité toute entière pour quelques amis. Je pense qu'on peut dire que ce n'est pas très charitable.
- Laissez-le, s'il vous plaît, répètes-tu, désespérée.
- Oh, non ! Tu vas le regarder avoir ses poumons remplis d'eau, déclare-t-il en tenant ton visage pour te forcer à regarder la scène.
Le corps de Thomas est presque entièrement immergé. Sa tête est encore à la surface, lui permettant de crier aussi fort qu'il peut. Mais les parois réduisent la puissance de ses hurlements.
- Vous êtes un monstre, lâches-tu.
- Un homme agissant pour la science, je préfère.
Thomas continue à crier, les suppliant de te laisser tranquille, mais ses efforts sont vains. Le processus est presque terminé et Janson n'aurait jamais accepté, trop fier d'avoir arrêté les deux traîtres de W.I.C.K.E.D.
- Dites-moi ce que je peux faire. Si vous le laissez tranquille, je ferai ce que vous me direz, proposes-tu.
- Très bien. Alors, sois gentille et ne parle plus jamais.
Suite à ses paroles, Janson sort rapidement une arme et te tire dessus. Tu n'as le temps de réagir que ton corps tombe à terre. Thomas hurle encore plus fort, même s'il est sur le point de se noyer. Ses larmes se perdent dans le bassin pendant qu'il regarde ton sang s'étaler sur le sol. Il continue de frapper sur la paroi, attirant l'attention de Janson. Celui-ci le regarde, un sourire diabolique sur le visage. Thomas montre toute sa colère et sa frustration jusqu'à ce que la quantité d'eau dans ses poumons le fasse perdre connaissance. Janson lance un soupir de joie avant d'indiquer qu'ils doivent se débarrasser de ton corps et de s'occuper du transfert de Thomas dans le Labyrinthe où son épreuve est sur le point de commencer.
the dsmp may be dead but I am cursed to only want to write fic concepts related to it. I don’t watch anyone’s streams anymore. I didn’t even watch the finale. But anytime I want to creatively write anything sbi possesses my brain.
Safe Word Series {Part 1}
Tumblr media
Descriptions of vaginal sex, safe word, fluff
I try to be soft with her, all the time. I love being soft with her, being gentle, being slow. I love touching her, kissing her, grabbing her thighs, guiding her, arching her back, tasting her, feeling her. I love her, and she needs to know that. Always. Whenever I’m inside of her there can't be a single doubt about how much she means to me.
I need her. Emotionally, mentally, physically, I need her.
I love being on top of her. I love being able to grab her hands. They're soft, like her.
I hadn't stopped. Not for a long time. For hours, I took her pussy in every way I could. Licked her, sucked her, hummed into her, buried my head inside of her, wrapped her legs around my waist, let her ride me, and everything I could.
Keeping her arms above her head, I interlocked our fingers as I looked at her, at the pretty marks on her neck, the dazed look on her eyes, the sweat on her forehead, the knots in her hair, the light purple color on her lips, all of her. I admired every part.
Pushing my chest against hers, I thrust into her only for her grip on my fingers to be tighter than usual as she let out a different kind of whimper, one that I hadn't heard before.
“No more,”She said through heavy breaths. Pulling out as quickly as I could, I let go of her hands as she panted, her chest frantically rising and falling as small tears filled her eyes.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,”I quickly apologized, wiping them from her eyes. Cupping her cheeks, I pressed my lips to her forehead while repeating my words.
“It's okay,”She whispered as I kept kissing her temple.
“I love you. You know that, right? I love you,”I whispered, keeping her forehead against mine.
“I do, okay? And I love you too. I love you.”
“I didn't mean to hurt you. I would never try to hurt you,”I promised.
“I know, Aris. You're soft. You're loving. You're gentle,”She sighed, playing with my hair. “You're gentle, but you last longer than I think anyone could. You can't make love to me for half the night and think I won't get sore.”
“I’m sorry. You just feel so good, and you sound really pretty, and taste so sweet, and have such a nice cumming face. You're just so good, and I’m sorry,”I repeated.
“You're okay. It's all okay, my lovely,”She coaxed, kissing my cheek. “Why don't you dress me? I know how much you love doing that,”She teased.
“I do,”I nodded, slowly raising her legs to pull the towel out from under her. Grabbing her underwear, I cautiously tried to pull them up her legs, apologizing when she winced a few times. After adjusting them around her hips, I put her in one of my hoodies before dressing myself. Laying beside her, I just looked at her as she closed her eyes.
“You can hold me. I like it when you do that, and you do too,”She reassured me. Turning her to completely face me, I wrapped my arms around her before kissing the tip of her nose.
“I’m sor-”
“Shush. I know I’m always safe with you. I know that you love me,”She whispered, wearing a small smile before cuddling up to my chest and curling her knees to hers. Gently grabbing her outer thigh, I ran my hands over her skin while keeping her as close as possible. Whispering sweet nothings in her ear, I listened to her breathing even out as her grip around my just barely loosened. Still rubbing her leg, I kissed her temple before trying to go to sleep with her.
