imagine there's your favorite food in front of you.

you're not hungry - you don't feel hungry. you're not *full*, overfull or otherwise. you're just not hungry. you would be completely fine if you didn't eat.

but, you want to. so you do.

you weren't hungry, you didn't need to eat the food, but you did - it tasted good and felt good to do, so you did.

it's similar with being aromantic and romance-craving. we may not feel romantic attraction - the "hunger" - but we experience the want.
