We've...won. What comes after, but to live?

Grandfest is giving me so many feels both as a player AND for my sploon plots. Holy shit. Im so, so happy that I was here to experience it. I missed out the last two fests. But not this one!!!

This fest made me have actual fun playing the game again. I was spending most of it vibing even in the middle of matches (but still doing my part dont get me wrong) -- even when I lose I dont get upset!! Bc the vibes were just that immaculate!!

Heres to more!! I may be team present, but I cant wait to see whats next!!!

Anyway. That aside. I cant stop thinking abt how 3 feels about all of it.

They easily win most fights, but a 333x in those top ranking matches is a FEAT, even for them!!!

Theyre there on the stage, getting their commemorative pics with their old team.

Just like old times.

And the crowd's going wild around them. The lights, the sound, the music in their hearts.

The smiles of 4 and 8 in the crowd, catching their attention. Octavio and Cuttlefish standing side by side near them. Octarian, Inkadian and Splatlandian crowds, all in harmony with the current song. A victory in many fronts -- theyre assured even that the salmonids they have contact with are thankful for their help in stealing most of the eggs back.

Theyre glowing, they feel warmth, unlike any other theyve felt before. Its as if its burning whatever melancholy that usually hangs around them.

Theyre smiling. Even in front of everyone they cant help but smile and laugh and cheer over such a hard-won victory on all fronts.

And yknow whats killing me?

Theyre thinking...theyre thinking with confidence, with strength behind the thought. A thought they havent thought of for a long, long time.

I want to see more of this! I want to live long enough to see this grow!

I want to BE here!

I want to live!!!

This day where they had a taste again of their life before it was taken away from them. This day where they were allowed to live, to rest, to just have fun.

Its to remind them that even deep in the trenches of their duty, they had a day like this. And they will have more of it, as long as they hang on.

**They still...regress at times, when they feel the weight heavy on their shoulders. But theyre not completely hopeless. They usually just need to be sat down and be given tenderness for a while. Be assured and reminded that theyre not the monster they believe themself to be.

what be your favorite cephalopod

I have lists of my favorites but if I had to choose one out of them it would be The Gloomy Octopus!

Octopus Tetricus, nicknamed The Gloomy Octopus for it's big droopy eyes!

It was originally thought to be a solitary species but they can actually be quite social and have been observed making dens within close proximity of each other!

In fact there are two octopus "cities" that have been discovered called Octopolis and Octlantis, the 2 sites are within a few hundred meters of each other and up to 14 octopuses have been observed living in one of these cities at once.

Octopolis is made up of several dens and some human debris, namely a large cement block structure that has been seen with 3 octopuses nestled in the nooks at once. This led scientists to believe these octopus cities could only form with the condition of human structures, until they discovered Octlantis only a few hundred meters away from the original site, which was only made up from octopus-made dens.

The thing about gloomy octopuses is that they're ecosystem engineers, and what I mean by that is the way they interact with the environment around their den creates an active ecosystem.

When they make a den they often leave piles of discarded shells around, these shell piles create great hiding places for smaller prey that they can easily catch. These small fish attract larger fish, and the cycle builds. And it is absolutely incredible.

There's a lot to love about these guys and you will surely see me posting more of them on here!

vampire squids are cephalopods found in temperate or tropical oceans in the deep sea!

the vampire squid actually has a history of misclassification, for a long time they were classified as as an octopus

they live in the oxygen-minimum zone, as there are fewer predators!

vampire squids have the slowest metabolism compared to all other cephalopods

this means that food lasts longer for them!

most other cephalopods are hunters, but the vampire squid is a scavenger

the eyes of a vampire squid are one of the largest eyes in the entire animal kingdom!

I mean, Callie and Marie HAD to have known… SHOULD have known at least…

There’s a really REALLY good chance that they should have known that Marina was an Octoling, man. They were sharing fries and collaborating in-concert before Octo Expansion got added to the storyline, so they’ve met her in person.

And their peepaw is fuckin Squid-on-Octo-Violence McGee. They’ve literally been playing the “Watch out for the Revenge of the Octopodes” game with him since they were blobbly little mostly-squid children.

But they didn’t say anything about it, other than “WOW, we love your music, so cool, let’s play another show together!!!”

Either they just don’t actually give a fuck and are like “Oh, cool, not having to fight each other is nice too, we’re down to get along.”

Or, given how Nintendo keeps saying in all their official dispatches, “Listen guys, these little squid people are so ridiculously laid back and silly that like 98% of life passes over their squishy heads,” they just… ACTUALLY didn’t notice it, lol.

I mean, Craig LITERALLY saw a picture of Marina in her Elite gear and didn’t comment on the fact that she was Octomilitary until Pearl mentioned floating rocks… points in the “Inklings might just be too dumb to notice” category.

There is a third option, though, which might just be my favorite. And it’s that these two spied on her for a while to determine whether she was a threat, and likely decided “Nah, not really,” after watching her cry over a shojou manga through a spyglass (and also crying since they ended up reading over her shoulder.)
