Time: A time of peace among the Avengers (Before Civil War and Infinity War/ After Age of Ultron)

Prompt: You are a “Second Captain America” that was created after Steve, as a test to try to improve the body in more ways.  Although what they treated you with gave you the same powers/effects as Steve, it placed you in a sleep in which you didn’t age; similar to Steve in Ice.  They have kept you deep within S.H.I.E.L.D. Labs only telling their most trusted agents and scientists.  For years they have been attempting to wake you up.  You have just woken up and you only remember the experiment.

 Your eyes fluttered open, you were entrapped in some sort of incubator or glass box. You started to look around to find that you were in a dark room with lab equipment all around.  ‘Am I still in the experiment? And how long was I knocked out for?’ You asked yourself.  You began to push up on the glass to try to open the container.  Even though you pushed with barely any effort the glass unhinged and the door broke off of the whole machine.  “How did I do that?!” You exclaimed excited that the experiment worked.  

“You’re Awake!” Someone behind you exclaimed slightly excited and panicked.  You whipped your head around to face a young woman with brown hair, she was shorter.  But somehow you don’t remember being as tall as you were now.  ‘The experiment really did work.’ She stuck out her hand for you to shake, “Jemma Simmons, very nice to see you awake!”

“Y/N L/N, where am I?” All the technology looked way too advanced for the 1940s. “What is all of this stuff?” you asked.

“Um you are in S.H.I.E.L.D but there is not much else that I myself can tell you yet” She said kindly as she backed out of the dark room, “Someone will be down shortly.”  Jemma locked the door behind herself.  You sat in a lab chair and waited for whomever was planning to speak with me.

You heard the jingle of keys and a hurried pair of feet when the door swung open revealing a man with an eyepatch and a black coat.  “Who are you, where am I, and what is all of this technology?” the words fell out of your mouth after preparing them over and over in your head while awaiting the stranger's arrival.

“Nick Fury and I plan to answer all of your questions but first I need to know what you remember” he spoke in a deep voice and sounded kind of mysterious.

“How do I know if I can trust you?”

“I am the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The lab in which you are located right now is one of

our top secret bases where you my friend have been sleeping for 70+ years”

“You’re joking” you laughed in disbelief.

“I truly wish I was” he said staring straight into your eyes.

After a couple days of staying in the lab and catching up with the revolution of the world it was time for you to head outside. Jemma Simmons, who has been trying to wake you up for the past 2 years, came along with you.  The two of you got into a black car and were driven into Brooklyn.  “I think I’m ready to get back into the world” You stated mostly to place confidence in yourself. I mean I’ve already learned how to use the Iphone and most everything that I could possibly need.  You mentally reassured yourself.

“That’s the attitude!” Jemma exclaimed as the car parked.  You could hear sirens and cars rushing by.  The two of you got out of the car, you were wearing the new outfit that S.H.I.E.L.D provided you with.  It was a black blazer with a blue blouse and a black pencil skirt.  There were hot dog vendors lined up along the block.  Jemma grabbed your arm and pulled you along, “First we are going to find you more clothes and then we are going to meet someone that has a lot in common with you” she said with a wink.

You weren’t sure what that meant, “Alright where do we start shopping?” Looking down the road you could see multiple boutiques that had mannequins in the windows all dressed up in modern clothing.  

“Let’s start with some casual clothing then a couple for business and then finally we will get you a couple dresses for nights out” She seemed to be pretty excited because she grabbed your arm and skipped the two of you into a boutique.  

After shopping the two of you were driven to a restaurant that looked semi casual, as the car pulls up to the front Jemma motions for you to get out first.  Once you were both out she led you inside asking for Steve.  The waiter led you both to a small booth towards the back where a blonde and handsome man looked up at the two of you.  Jemma quickly pulled Steve to the side out of earshot to explain to him what you had been through.  You notice Steve stare at you as you sat down on the other side of the booth, he looked like he was in pure shock.  

“Your telling me you dragged her out into the city of Brooklyn for her first day out in the world again! Jemma, she should be slowly easing into this it is a lot to comprehend at one time I should know…” you overheard simply because his voice level increased.  You couldn’t help thinking he would find you weird for being about 98-99 years old now.  You thought he would probably be too freaked out to come have lunch with you.

After you ordered an iced tea from the waitress the two finally came back to the table. Steve looked like he was amazed and speechless.  He stuck his hand out for you to shake. “Steve Rodgers” He said as you shook his hand.

“Y/N L/N, you’re Captain America right the one who was genetically enhanced before me.  How is that possible you should be dead right now” you said kind of confused.  

Jemma jumped into the conversation quickly, “He actually was lost at sea for a long time and was asleep and encased in ice and woke up about a year and a half ago.  So kinda like you,” she said with a weak smile.

“Awesome!” you accidentally yelled forgetting there were others in the restaurant.  You couldn’t help being excited though, you thought that he was going to be a descent from the original Steve Rodgers.  You knew now that he wouldn’t think it’s weird you were so old.

Steve laughed at your sudden excitement, “So Y/N how was your first day back in the world, I hope it wasn’t too overwhelming” his tone was concerned and you could tell it was genuine due to his scrunched eyebrows above his blue eyes.  Your conversation went on and you learned a lot about Steve and the Avengers.  You had already been training to join the Avengers during your breaks from learning about the modern world.  In fact, Nick said that you could probably get out into the field within a week.  

After eating lunch, Jemma left and the two of you stayed for another hour really getting to know each other.  “I hope that you will get to come work with us soon Y/N, I really enjoy your company.”

“I hope so as well Steve,” you said both standing up at the table and heading for the door.

“Oh! And if you need anything at all here is my number,” he handed you a folded napkin.

“Thank you, I had a wonderful time today,” you said taking the napkin.  He grabbed your hand and lightly kissed the top of it.

“Me as well,” he said dropping your hand and opening the door for you to climb in to the black car there to pick you up.  You got in and he waved as he closed the door, “Goodbye”

“Goodbye” you responded and then the car took off.
