I can't complain when I work, with the world how it is. I'm forever grateful to have a job. So I will go everyday...Even if it's not what I'm passionate about it-it's a sacrifice all artists have to make. To balance our responsibilities while we work by night to make our dreams come true.

Emotional Upheavals is the second poem that will be compiled into an anthology I hope to publish this year. This was written in the winter of 2002 in London when I was a graduate student living in a tiny room near Hyde Park. Love to me, at the time, was a metaphorical idea and I tried to understand it by writing how it would feel if I had really fallen in love.

My first journal! I was 10 years old when I got this journal as a present from my parents. I loved it so much. I even gave it a name, apparently: Mary Ann! I had no idea I even did this until I was rummaging through my closet and read snippets of it. But one thing I can see now, looking through the pages. Even at 10 years old I loved to write. I had wanted to be a writer back then, but gave it up because of a rejection. I wish I could go back and tell my 10 year old self to not give up. To keep that passion alive. Because someday she would go on to publish books and so many of her dreams would come true. Truth is, sometimes even now, I need that pep talk. If there is someone in your life who is a writer or artist or struggling to follow their dreams, take a moment of your day and encourage them. One of the cool things about my work that I enjoy the most is review my creative process and to see how certain ideas evolve and transform. This design in particular, inspired by my Grandmother Helvia, started as a colorpencil drawing on black cardboard. I took pictures of it, scanned it, retouched in photoshop and played with it a lot. I uploaded to my @society6 store and it has been one of the best sellers, but I still felt it wasn’t quite my original concept. I have been experimenting and studying @procreate in theipad and surface design, taking different classes on @skillshare and I couldn’t be happier with the evolution of this design.
