The way her eyes lit up,

was making him feel warm.

My Brief, Honest Review of NotOkay

After waiting so long to see the movie, it lived up to the hype. 

It was different than what I was expecting: funny, check, and social commentary, most certainly. But it surprised me by how much it really touched me.

It made me laugh. 

It made me uncomfortable. 

It made me sad: at the heart of it, Danni was really just a very lonely person, and that was something I could empathize with.

It also alluded to so many frankly disgusting facets of modern culture popularized by American culture. 

Fakeness of influencers

Homelessness

Blaming Mental Illness 

Desensitized to violence 

The need to publicly vilify (hypocrisy) 

...to name a few, among others 

The fantastic acting by Dylan O’Brien, Mia Isaac, and Zoey Deutch in particular, were undeniable. I found myself forgetting Zoey’s character Danni Sanders was actually the villain in this story!

I liked that there was no happy ending. That kept it realistic and raw. 

Did Danni Sanders actually learn anything from it all? The way she faded into the darkness in the final scene was brilliantly done, and answered the question: 

I’d really like to think so, and honestly, I believe she did. In the ending I saw she was able to finally recognize that her forgiveness was not more important than Rowan’s pain and healing, and that this moment was hers and hers alone, and she had no business stealing another piece of hers. 

But in the end, Danni was right back where she started:

Unknown and insignificant.

Alone.

My day has been good. It was a lot better than yesterday, and I'm relieved because of that. I went to a few stores and got to get some things that I wanted. One of the things I'm super hyped about is the book I got, it's the last in a series and it's called A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas. I assume a fair amount of yall have heard of her, and I really enjoy that series so I'm excited to be able to finish it! I want to read Throne of Glass but I heard it's a little slow and boring in the beginning, but I guess I'll have to see for myself.

SEASON TWO OF HEART STOPPED COMES OUT TOMORROW!!! Am I staying up until 2am so that I can watch it? Damn right I am. I've been waiting forever and watching things at night is just so much more peaceful. Speaking of heartstopper, I have about 50 pages left of the book Solitaire. So far It's super super good and I love Tori with ALL OF MY HEART!! I love her, and I love Micheal. I just love that book over all.

It's actually taught me some things. Like it taught me how sometimes you have to step up because sometimes no one else will. It may be out of place and a little awkward but sometimes it just has to be done or it literally won't. It also reminded me of how boring my life is. Not that I'm saying I wan't anything like Solitaire to happen in real life because that would be horrible, but I think I should try and put myself out there just a little bit more and stop caring what other people think of me. I'm always so nervous people are judging me, but then I gotta remember they're strangers. They might gossip about it for a second but then absolutely forget I exist. And if my friends judge me for something, maybe they shouldn't be my friends.

I wanna turn this school year around. I wanna get out there. I want to actually live. And with that, THANK YOU TORI SPRING! (and all the other characters tehe)
