it’s MY sleepover and I get to force the asks on you!! what are some fandoms you were in before st?
FINE! I will have fun and participate in the sleepover weekend festivities 😳
just for some context: my experience with fandoms pre-st were... fine? i never really made strong connections with anyone in them or interacted with mutuals as much. i was always kinda lurking in the shadows and reading fic and rbing fandom posts but never really participating like i am now. this is definitely the most fun and most comfortable i have ever felt in a fandom space <3
One Direction (2013 - 2017 (some may argue it never leaves you)) - oh. my boys. it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. i lied, i totally still have a friend/mutual that i still keep in touch with from these days that my sister met on twitter in 2013. ANYWAY not much to say other than the brainrot was semi-cured by the breakup but i will be a louis girl till the day i die.
The 100 (late 2014 - late 2017) - LOVED the fics. GREAT fics that came from this fandom. left/fell off when the show just became unwatchable TO ME. no hate to anyone who stayed longer, it just crossed my Bullshit Threshold (which is pretty low considerign i am a st fan LOL). Also Minty was MY ship for the longest time and will ALWAYS be bitter that they made Miller gay and Minty NOT canon *throwing tomatoes throwing tomatoes*.
Star Wars (little kid sen - old lady sen) - THIS ONE. This is my ride or die. I will love star wars until i am in the ground. BUT i was sent death threats on twitter in 2017 for defending tlj and after that pulled back from participating in fandom as much. still read fics and cheered ppl on from the sidelines on here. *blows a kiss to the sky for poe dameron*
Honorable mentions:
Timeless (2016-2018) - the NBC show that lasted 2 seasons but had the most UNNECESSARILY good fics and the BEST fandom bloggers holy shit. i am still shook by a fic i read back in those days. it was sadly cancelled before it's time, no matter how many petitions i signed or letters i wrote to execs that summer of 2018 :/
Revolution (2012 - 2014) - ANOTHER 2 season NBC show that was cancelled before it should have been!!! i was a freshman in high school when i found this fandom, the show was airing on tv at the time, and it was the fandom that i think introduced me to the Basics of Fan Spaces which is really special to me. i also remember reading fic on ff.net for this show which is awesome lolol.

What were people saying about posting AI art?
Just a bunch of people saying me and fellow artists who say the person is posting AI are being too arrogant with our judgement, claiming we think we're "art gods" or whatever tf . Apparently we have no credibility despite being the artists that they would constantly ask more FREE fanarts from in our comment sections and inboxes. It just offended me how people could think I would say that just to dogpile on a small artist when I barely participate in fandom drama. I didn't even directly reply to the OP or quote retweet their "art". My first statement was a reply on somebody else's quote retweet so the OP wouldn't be too exposed. Whenever i would make additional statements, it would be in a separate post that never mentioned the OP, because my point is not to target one specific person, but to make others aware so they could hopefully be better at spotting AI artists. The very obvious ones at least.
However when I blocked the AI poster instead of engaging, they had to go ahead and make a post showing a screenshot that I blocked them for THEIR followers to see, resulting in people saying stuff about how I'm disappointing or a coward. I even got dm's over it. One person was civil and asked what the artist could do to prove their art, so I said that they should draw on paper. But i dont believe they ever did it. For obvious reasons.
Tbf it wasn't like hundreds of people or whatever. The fandom wasn't very active by then. But it was enough for me to get hurt. They could like the stuff I make and demand more of it, but apparently they can't respect my insights in something they know I'm at least decent in practicing. Don't even stop for a second and think about why these artists are saying the things they have. Fucking annoying.

Honestly my favorite thing about you by far is how you build on aus and fanon of old without being needlessly cruel and disparaging to it. OG reverse falls had a lot of issues, but people tend to get lost in dogging on it as opposed to embracing the beauty that comes with creating new content for it with hindsight and maturity that the fandom of old didn’t have. Basically just thank you for being so kind. Anyway my second favorite thing you do is draw reverse ford like a silver fox you’re so fucking real for that
thank you!! i really do try to be kind and positive about stuff as best as i can when it applies, i know fanon stuff gets a lot of flak for often being derivative or just very shoddy at times but its like. idk. ive always seen the bridge to better fanon being lifting up and supporting what you do like, because the more lamenting that happens the more you end up just sorta chasing this giant invisible strawman of "you guys" who are "making the thing i dont like instead of the thing i like" (as a pretty relevant example, ill see posts pop up in tags complaining about "you guys'" humanizations of a certain triangle... -_- )
because like its true! sometimes fan stuff is dumb. because we're all creating stuff out there so some of its going to be dumb. even some gravity falls stuff is dumb. roadside attraction is dumb. parts of the wendy crush arc are dumb. which is why i want to lift up parts of something i like and when i do point out stuff i dont like i always want to kinda be constructive about why. and i do think that trying to build something i like attracts people! i think they pick up on the passion there! and it just feels so much more rewarding than if i were to complain all day. idk. its all about striking a balance and its something i like to think about and ruminate on a lot as someone who participates in the community of fandom.
its also a bit of a glass houses thing to me, because i dont think i can even claim to have fanon that like, doesnt suck. not in a self deprecating way you just have to understand where im coming from here... because im the type of person who loves to ruminate on how the relationships between people affect them and how it makes their story, which ends up meaning i go REALLY hard on shipping! and someone could point to me and be like "wow youve got Yaoi Brain" or something! and i draw my human bill as a skinny white guy because idk i just Do! and people could call that derivative if they so wished! if i was going around proclaiming that i could 'be better' and 'fix bad fanon' it would just feel ironic to me. because sometimes the art i make isnt perfect too. and im fine with that. its a part of my art to me.
anyways thank you for the ask and the gateway for me to ramble :] i always like talking about this stuff. here's silver fox ford gleeful again

Taking Care, SilverMuldoon; SilverFlint, 5866 words
(For PROMPT #10: Silver and Muldoon, Muldoon in love with Silver, one sided, sucking a still freshly amputated and in extreme pain Silver off in the hammocks at night while the crew sleeps and Silver has to put a his fist in his mouth to be quiet. Bonus if Silver is actively pining for Flint, bonus if Muldoon mentions Logan)
-
Proxy, SilverVane; FlintVane, 2812 words
(For PROMPT #87: S2 Vane takes his frustration with Flint out on Silver. Rough handling, dirty talk, Vane attempting to humiliate Silver, not knowing that Silver has no shame and bites back. Silver goads Vane about his own obsession with Flint. They both come with Flint on their minds.)
-
One Early Morning, SilverFlint, 3754 words
(For PROMPT #123: I simply think someone should get fisted til they cry. Flint, Silver, Anne, Eleanor, Jack? Let your hearts run wild with fists. Choose your holes wisely.)
-
Girls' Night, Madi/Idelle, 1876 words
(For PROMPT #67: Madi and Idelle fuck)
-
Electric Impulses, SilverFlint, 5270 words
(For PROMPT #118: Silver dirty-talking to Flint, getting all up in his business, and Flint getting mildly flustered about it but something in Silver's eyes makes him resist. "Stop that. You dont really mean it "
"Dont I?"
And Then Flint challenges all of it, backing silver into a corner. Silver is taken aback by this, but is also incredibly turned on.
"Tell me what you'd do, then." He says to Flint. And then Flint does.)
-
Perfect Match, SilverFlint; FlintMadi; MadiSilverFlint, 10,064 words
(For PROMPT #100: Madi or Silver discover Flint has a large cock. The other keeps pushing to find out why they are so distracted, so they confess to what they’ve seen. Seeing Flint in more and more comprising situations becomes their obsession in order to catch glimpses of his cock e.g. whilst he is pissing, bathing, getting changed, spying on him jerking off/fucking himself.
Flint soon catches on (there’s only so many times Silver and Madi can be around him with his cock out before it becomes a pattern!) and starts putting on a show for them/teasing until the ust spills over. Eventual madisilverflint and individual pairings with both of them begging to be fucked by his monster cock and breeder balls.
Bonus points if Madi/Silver describe their latest glimpse and what they would do if they got their hands on Flint each time they fuck to get themself and each other off.
Excessive amounts of come is also welcome 😈)

i woke up and chose violence today
rant below!! an actual soapbox rant about some shit that annoys tf out of me
but still under a cut and unrebloggable bc im still a coward just an annoyed coward
"_ fandom is dead"
"the tumblr/twitter fandom is dead"
"any variation of a fandom being dead"
Im about to be under your bed
Is it really dead?
well considering im still following some moots of over 10+ years that still regularly reblog new art and fics for fandoms Ive seen called "dead" many times in the past, fandoms that havent had new content in years, it's probably not
also, the older the fandom, consider how much more ridiculous your claim is. if the media is from fucking 20 years ago and still getting art and fic in any capacity, I dont wanna hear shit about shit being "dead" because there was a slow month of content on tumblr.com
What is really happening?
well if its for an ongoing fandom and there's a noticeable slow period, ask yourself... are we in-between episodes? in-between movies? in-between games? the fandom is not dead, sheesh. everything naturally slows down a while after canon content stops being made. doesn't mean it's dead.
what is happening is that artists and fic writers and other fandom enjoyers that are still out here making plenty of "content" for you (to absorb in 2 seconds and then demand more like they're machines, btw) see your dumb little comment and look around like ???
Tumblr media
like ok what am I, chopped liver? I'm still out here making plenty of content, am i dead to you?
what are you doing to keep the active community alive and motivated? are you actually liking and sharing their art? reading their fics and leaving nice comments?
orrrrrrrr do you only care when its your favorite artists making content?
its like. very obvious when its the biggest artists who arent making art anymore cause they moved to a new fandom or whatever and suddenly here come the "the fandom is dead" posts
i know from experience that it just makes everyone else feel like they dont "count." theyre just the backup "favorite" artists when the real "favorite" artists are away, because you don't have a choice anymore.
it feels so god damn disrespectful and dismissive. like thank god i will draw whatever tf i want whether it gets 1 like or 3000 but whenever i see that kind of comment I cant help but go "well the fandom is dead apparently so I guess I'll just throw my ideas and wips away huh???"
and most people are kind. i dont think those big artists would be very happy to hear you're dismissing an entire fandom's worth of creativity just because they havent drawn for it in a while
i keep saying artist but this goes for anyone who contributes to fandom in any way. even just posting headcanons and stuff is participation. and those fics need people to read them, after all.
ive yet to see any fandom actually die. but you will kill your creators' motivation if you keep saying its dead

I am here for your takes on Dani. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought her x Jon smelled of hot garbage. Like at best she was meh, and then when the two of them met I was just like "oh no....you're an entitled bitch". And now that its been years since I last consumed GoT, my thoughts have fermented into "oh no, she really is a conqueror" "oh no, everyone loves her because 'pretty badass lady'" "oh no i'm the fandom minority again". Anyway, where was I. She and Jon had no chemistry. The end.
The *only* way putting them in a romance even makes sense in concept is when you realize Benioff and Weiss gave Jon the Young Griff arc. It's why they gave him a Targ name, beacuse if they call him "aegon" then they can fufill that part of the books without ever having to establish Young Griff as his own character. He is the supposed son of Rhaegar Targaryean and Elia Martell, he goes to Westeros with intentions of using his better claim to take the throne and intends initially on marrying Dany, and it's theorized heavily that Dany will see his claim as a threat and the Burning of Kings Landing will come down to Aegon against Dany.
Jon Snow has nothing to do with that. He is a moral opposite to Dany as a charecter, and we've seen him time and time again be at strong odds against people with her morals. But by giving him the Young Griff arc, it means putting him into the romance spot when it makes no sense for him.
Hey I put a read more beacuse I cannot shut the fuck up about how this relationship is just rape and abuse but beacuse Jon's a man we think he wants it.
All of season 7 Jon is so out of place because he doesn't belong anywhere near Dany's Iron Throne plot, and he's being forced to interact romantically with a charecter that clearly he does not like as a person and is uncomfortable with.
But, Dany is the sacred cow of the GoT/asoiaf fandom. You love her and if you critizize her for villanious actions or morals then you are using bad faith towards her. While I personally don't like her, I don't mind other people liking her but I despise that her stans all refuse to allow any conversation about her being a morally bad person. A person who enjoys cruelty and death, enjoys creating fear and is smug when she can control others. That is not a person Jon would love, let alone even respect.
Their entire relationship wreaks of abuse, of Jon being forced into this and knows he cannot leave it without risking his and his families lives. Remember when Tyrion gave a very small level critisism of her actions and she angrily accused him of treason and siding with his family instead of her? Well what do people think would she have done, if her attraction to Jon was refused? Someone who she took all the defenses away from, all the power from, and could have killed at any moment (dont make an ygritte comparison mimi dont make an yrgitte comparison this is a different anti jon x fandom female fave charecter post).
I don't care how the show frames it, or what the intent was. What we got on screen, was Jon Snow being held prisoner to an immoral, cruel, military conquerer. And when that woman was attracted to him, she essentially forced herself into his life and gave him all but no choice. The Jon bending the knee scene and..the uh...boat...scene...later...uhhh....anyways, those to me feel so out of charecter. You cannot convince me Jon did any of this willingly. He is clearly trapped in this situation and cannot leave and is only with her beacuse she is violent and bloodthrirsty. But beacause Jon is a strong, capable man, it's not talked about as if he's the victim and that is insane to me. (Oh my good god the ygritte comparisons are almost laughable send help).
I don't consider a lot past season 5 to be canon, but if I am forced too, then I refuse to accept Jon was a willing participant in that relationship.
Jon's parentage reveal will always be about the revelations of his mother, and the understanding and acceptance of WHY Ned raised him the way he did. And how it was both his parents, his mother and his adopted father who loved him and kept him safe. The very fact that Young Griff's entire story is based around whether or not he truly is Rhaegar's son as opposed to that being a twist reveal is beacuse HE is the charecter whose Targaryean links is the important one. Jon's story is about him as Stark, and is always shown to be the moral opposite of Dany.
Their relationship in the best senario is not canon, but if it has to be, then there is no world in which Jon is there of his own free will. He is being forced into this relationship against his will. But considering his other love interest was another charecter who essentially forced him into a relationship against his will, and we were supposed to root for that tells me all I need to know.
Dany is a sacred cow charecter, and her stans are unreasonable in defending her. When you can like a charecter and critize them for their actions. Ned Stark was an idiot for ever trusting Petyr Baelish, Catelyn Stark's spiteful attitude and neglect of Jon Snow is was abusive behavior, Theon Greyjoy was a moron who ruined his own life for a father who long since abandonded him. Bam all charecters I love and there are some major flaws that I refuse to defend them for but thats also what makes them good charecters. Their flaws arent writing flaws, they are personal flaws for them as people.
Dany is not allowed to have personal flaws she is always to be justified even with incredibly bad faith defenses, but when she is flawed it's the writings fault not hers. Dany is a cruel, sadistic, controlling, military tyrant who enjoys watching her subjects fear her and her dragons. And she forced Jon Snow into a relationship with her beacuse otherwise then he is against her and we already knew she has no use for people who dont support her to be alive.
Jon Snow deserved better then to have both his love interests be domineering, controlling, abusive women who forced him into a romantic and sexual relationship.
Also, I mean, incest being normal is only a learned trait from Targaryens supporting their own blood purity. Jon was not raised to think incest is normal. Dany thinks its normal beacuse she and Viserys both were raised to think that, and Young Griff thinks marrying Dany is normal beacuse he too was raised with the mentality that Rhaegar would've been raised with. Jon finding out Dany was his aunt would've had Jon looking right at Sam and just

Not to come off as rude sorry if this does just want to explain my understanding of the situation. I think the whole post is stating that hes not homophobic just that. Words and actions hurt regardless if he's gay or not and it's incredibly jarring to hear him make light of it and have no one seemingly push back on it. I'm likening it to like if a friend calls you loser or worthless as a joke because they dont actually think those things of you but if you have a history of being bullied with those words it can still sting ?
I’m CRYING I made such a well worded response to this and discord DELETED IT
Anyway, here’s the thing.
I understand why some people might by put off by his humor. Sure that’s, fair, whatever. In my opinion kinda, nevermind not stating my opinion
But, I feel like I have to remind everyone once a fucking gain that the qsmp members are adults and problems can be solved IN PRIVATE if there’s any problems at all AND THEY DONT NEED FANS COMING TO SWOOP IN AND ‘PROTECT’ THEM FROM BIG BAD SCARY TUBBO LIKE THEY ARE INFANT DAMSELS IN DISTRESS
I think that’s an issue with the qsmp fandom as a whole. Y’all act like the cc’s just, don’t interact off stream? Don’t talk at all? Don’t you think by now, anyone would say anything about it if there’s an issue?
And here’s another thing, you aren’t tubbos friend. It might be hard to think that, but you aren’t, im not.
And on that train of thought, isn’t it important to reclaim those jokes? Genuine homophobes use those words against us, can’t we use the same jokes?
And why does it feel like if this was anyone else you wouldn’t have a problem? I’ll get shit for being a toxic tubbling and such a hater and blah blah blah but. Fucking seriously, would it be a problem if anyone else said this stuff? Why do I get the feeling y’all were looking for a reason to “cancel” Tubbo (because let’s be real that’s what this is. You may claim not to be Twitter and so much better, but you still pull the same shit. Be fucking for real)
And don’t even get me started on how you treat tubblings. How fucking disgusting it is.
Because I love getting called stupid for existing on this god forsaken app everyday. I love being called annoying, toxic, rude.
I fucking love it. /sarcasm
Some of you in the qsmp fandom make better bullies then you do people actually participating in a fandom.
It’s funny how you’ll insult and bully us but then turn back and bitch and moan about how toxic we are and how we hurt you and your traumatized now and
Yeah fuck it I don’t care if this makes me seem toxic, I don’t fucking care. I am an aid in a pre-K classroom and I’ve seen more mature TODDLERS then some of the people here.

i think an interesting opposition to rpf that ive heard quite often over the years is people claiming that they've had friends who were a bit too invested in their relationships and had fanfiction written about them which they found weird or invasive. in that specific case, it makes a lot of sense to feel uncomfortable with any art or stories of real living people in sexual or romantic situations that they didn't consent to being in and then being shown said art and fic. rpf (at least before youtube) was always incredibly niche and considered generally weird, all the way back in star trek fandom days, but it's also kinda always existed. the 1960s mclennon fics dan joked about in his now deleted video about shipping culture WERE A REAL THING! one could argue shakespeare participated in rpf! (its on the wikipedia page about real people fanfiction i am not joking go check) or perhaps even the bible!!!!
but obviously with more historical tales, people don't really find a problem with that because they were all written so long ago and we've greatly mythologized a lot of the kings shakespeare wrote about for example where they may as well be fictional characters since we dont have any way of knowing their true personalities anymore, and with kings in the 15-1600s there was definitely no direct line of communication between royalty and the common people the way a modern day celebrity can easily just tweet to their fans about their everyday life.
i think the dawn of youtubers and internet fame and social media was the first time that the people being written about were actively discussing the stories that were being told, and the first time that people were directly sending them links to fics or art of them making out. (but correct me if im wrong! maybe paul mccartney has an interview out there where talks about having to sign a girl's beatles fanfic zine lmao.) but thats the first time anyone was actively talking about it outside of "oh, thats just a weird thing that some people do, lets just leave them in the corner" and it was the first time that this was being brought to people's attention at a much larger scale. even just in the phandom, a lot of comments under the reupload of dan's shipping video were like "this is the video that actually taught me what shipping was" (lmao @ dan accidentally creating his own beast of burden)
so it's just this unprecedented moment of this (being fully honest as a fic writer myself) Pretty Weird Thing That We Do coming into light. but it didn't just start with pretty boy youtubers or even boy bands.
and i could probably somehow tie this in with my whole thing about yaoi/slash as a genre created primarily by and for women not really being about gay men necessarily but rather a way for women to express parts of themselves that are generally repressed by using characters they can't project onto so they don't have to imagine themselves in more taboo scenarios that they secretly want to explore. but i think thats enough yap from me today lmao

do you have any unpopular opinions in bsd?
hmm i guess the one that comes to mind is this: "mori is not as evil of a person as the fandom makes him out to be"
now dont get me wrong, i hate mori, but thats because i love yosano and i will never forgive mori for what he did to her
i hate it when people say they hate him because hes creepy (hes about the same level of creepy as dazai when u factor out his ability- which i will adress later) or that he is a sexual abuser (???) like where did u even get that from???
also, ok, i acknowledge that its creepy that he has a little girl as his ability and that it is called vita sexualis or smtg like that (i dont remember but it had to word sex in it), but dont you think theres a deeper meaning to that? also i get that it grosses you out, but to use that and assume that he is a pedophile and sxual abuser is, frankly, dramatic and out of proportion
(not YOU. i am not directing this at YOU, im just saying 'you' because thats how i talk)
hes such an interesting character agzvsjsb the light in me dims more and more everytime somebody refuses to participate in his character analysis cus they claim hes a pedophile or some other thing that they made up in their head
also! i think hes very important to the themes of bsd, especially when he used yosano in the army because he believed that it could help him win the war (and winning the war is important so that japan could have peace... and peace is a good cause).
it really shows that evil and good come hand in hand and the line between them is desperately thin. on one side, a young girl is being mentally and emotionally tortured, but on the other side, people dont have to die for a cause that is good (the cause is peace for japan)!!
ahsvdjd sorry for the ramble. i got a little off topic but i love talking abt bsd :,)
tysm for the askkk. what are your thoughts on what i just said? :)

I don't think that anti-fandom can really be blamed on kids being "cringe" and having an AU or OCs or ship that's far-fetched. I think it's due to a popularity treadmill. Things start getting pointed out as media ages, it may not have aged well, and instead of taking it into consideration they just blow the whole thing off and treat is as evil. This site is not good at nuance. Don't blame it on people having fun, blame it on the people who can't take "it's complex" (btw not trying to be rude!)
I think you misunderstood me. I dont care about people having fun, ive been vocally anti cringe culture for a long time now. I think everyone should do whatever they want forever. I think there is a certain group of individuals however who ignore a lot of the source material and then get angry that... its the source material.
Thats why i used marvel as an example in the tags. It was the biggest fandom on tumblr and arguably the wider internet when superwholock ran its course, and yet ive seen the same people who ran marvel blogs claim its the worst thing ever made and that anybody who likes it has terrible taste, as if they didnt... used to run with the URL stevelovesbucky or something. They become cold and mean and cyberbullies over something as inconsequential as blockbuster movies and you end up not with the critique they claim to be doing but just cyberbullying over other people liking the same thing they used to like. Except they didnt really like MARVEL, its more that they liked what their IDEA of marvel was. And theres nothing wrong with fanworks and fics, ive been in fandom all my life and I participate actively in those things too, its that they never actually liked whatever the source was, just the other people who did.
Theres a lot more examples I can think of that fit the same metric. Voltron, Steven Universe, Hamilton, hell I once saw someone get driven out of the Fallout fandom because they wrote a fic where their OC was a legion slave. Meanwhile, roman-style slavery has been a major theme in the Fallout universe since day 1! Thats a perfect example of what I'm saying: someone engaged in the actual source material, but it wasn't approved of by the folks who only liked Fallout aesthetically and not genuinely, because they were bullied and driven out for exploring problematic themes through the safe medium of fiction in the game series ABOUT exploring problemic themes through the safe medium of fiction
I dont have any issue whatsoever with people making fics and art and AUs and fanwork. My issue is with people who act like that fanwork is devoid of a source, and don't actually like the source at the end of the day, take the fanon as gospel, and then end up crucifying the source material and everyone who engages in it genuinely

thank you this is a safe space for communist fall out boy fans. i love em but hate them and thats okay. i do wish they were better. i think one reason why people act like that in the fandom is they spent a lot of time associating with it and spending money and making it part of their identity which i am guilty of and still do, its almost an attack on them. to rethink what they consume. i think a lot of people just dont want to ever think of letting them go. and i get it it can suck. ofc i am not saying people should let go of them entirely or whatever but realize your faves may not be as progressive as you think they are and to acknowledge that flaw. i think one thing that sort of helped me “grow apart” from fall out boy is deadass making ocs. sure they don’t have a whole fandom or actual media but its honestly helped me a lot with just being able to put in my creative energy into something else besides fob. i still like to dabble in the fob fandom but its nice to have something else beyond fall out boy and sort of a “safety net” if things truly go south if fob gets actually “canceled” if they do something that i truly can’t really be all fandomy over if that makes sense hahaha
i think you're probably right tbh re fans feeling guilty abt spending money on them; a fair amount of western activism revolves around consumerism, which makes sense for a capitalistic society but like i really do wish these people would just get real and own up to the fact that their enjoyment of fob has nothing to do with their politics for better or for worse and if they actually believed that it did they would stop spending money on concert tickets and stop spending money on merch, not as a form of boycott or anything like that (imo most forms of western modern day boycott are ineffective in terms of constituting material change bc they focus on conglomerates; we should boycott bc it is the right thing to do to not pay in to companies that are supporting genocide, not bc we are expecting large scale change to come of it) but because it would be in line with the ideological/moral boundaries they have set for themselves
imo engaging with art/celebrity in a capitalistic society is a net neutral, for the most part; simply saying this among the most radical of accelerationist twitter grifters would get my head chopped off for paying attention to a band instead of the glorious revolution that's supposedly forming amongst russian soldiers doing genocide in the donbas or whatever but unless leftists want to actually get serious about global suffrage then idk what to say lol people are going to look to art as a coping mechanism and continue to pay in to these systems bc it helps them survive mentally/emotionally. now that being said that's why i think it's hypocritical and grotesque to participate in faux outrage against a band that you like by doing pretend activism bc none of these people actually give a shit that fob do business with/are friends with zionists, they just want to look good in front of their friends for caring about the right thing at the right time. if their disgust was genuine they would quietly drop them and move on but they're more invested in their own comfort than doing what they perceive as being right. so i guess to clarify i don't think spending money on and paying attention to a band with milquetoast lib politics is inherently materially harmful; what i do believe is actively harmful to the cause you claim to serve is when you put on a performance for a few days because the band you like fucked up in a way that can't be ignored and then never talk about it again and go back to pretending that pw is a radical leftist and not a run of the mill democrat. like if you're just going to stop talking about it eventually don't even bother bringing it up in the first place lol
i support you tho i do think OCs are a good idea esp if you want to pull away from engaging with IP tbh and i think just a good thing for enhancing your writing/creativity in general

I’m going insane over here. Ok. Strap in. I’ve got a lot to say.
I’ve already made a couple posts about this but the thoughts are running rampant in here and I think I’ve got some more in depth topics I want to get into this time.
(really long post its like 1.5k words so dont click on it if u dont wanna scroll thru all that LOL)
First off, we’ve got the voting system. I have… a lot of gripes about the voting system. I’ll preface this statement with maybe I’m wrong, because I haven’t spent a lot of time interacting with the fandom, but it seems like a lot of people are taking the voting system at face value. The premise is simple, after all. Examine the prisoner, assess their crime, and decide whether you think it was justifiable, right? But there’s a twist, obviously. Your verdicts have a direct impact on the prisoners. And you are speaking through the audience surrogate, the warden at Milgram prison, Es. Es is very interesting to me. Despite being a clear self insert, they absolutely exhibit personality of their own, and thought processes and decisions that aren’t influenced by the audience at all. A perfect unreliable narrator. They aren’t a character at first as much as a lens to see the prison through. From the very beginning, they insist on the same thing: job first, questions later. They’re the warden after all. No time to think about the prison. Now I haven’t read the light novel so I’m sure I could go more in depth on my thoughts on the prison if I had read it, but regardless of that, it’s painfully clear how suspicious the whole situation is. However, the way it’s framed almost makes the prison itself, the warden, and Jackalope fade into the background. It’s kind of brilliant actually. Anyway, you’re voting through Es. But who says Es has the right to pass judgement? Look. No one knows what Milgram is. What their ulterior motives are. What’s ultimately going to happen at the end of the project. According to the light novel, it's happened before, so again, I’m perhaps not the most knowledgeable about this part. But why does Milgram get to decide what to do with the prisoners? It feels awfully hypocritical and potentially dangerous. But the whole project is set up so you have no other choice than to vote. It’s fascinating. You’re led towards the conclusion that Milgram wants you to reach. And your immediate thought is NOT to question it, because it’s a piece of media. Why would it lie?
Alright, bear with me for a minute. You know the original milgram experiment? The one the whole thing is supposedly based on? It's about obedience to authority. Listen to me. I am shaking you guys by the shoulders. It’s about obedience to authority. DOESN’T THAT SOUND LIKE WHAT I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT. They had people administer shocks to “test participants”. The shocks got higher and higher till near fatal levels. The test participants weren’t actually real, but they found that “every participant [went] up to 300 volts, and 65% [went] up to the full 450 volts.” (Milgram experiment, Wikipedia). The whole video series is like this experiment. I don’t know. You get it. You get the connection. I don’t know how much better I can explain this. You can imagine me jumping up and down and flapping my hands.
Listen to me. If you aren’t looking at it from a meta perspective that’s fine. I get it. Most media I like I just passively engage with. Usually that’s more fun for me. But frankly with Milgram I feel as if not looking at it from a meta perspective makes you just another test participant. Another shock administrator. Another cog in the machine. I see people talk about Milgram’s bad writing sometimes, and, you know, fair. There are subjects not handled with the care they need. I’m not claiming that Milgram is perfect. But I haven’t seen anyone talk about how fucking cool this is. They’ve taken the art form and made it into a mechanism. I think it’s kind of brilliant.
Anyway, essentially what I’m trying to say with perhaps an excessive amount of words is that I don’t think we have the right to pass judgement on the prisoners. From a meta perspective, of course.
Apologies in advance for another interjection. This part is perhaps less relevant to the rest of the post, but it’s so cool that I kinda wanna skim over it anyway. You can skip this part if it's getting too long for you, especially since I already kind of touched on it up there. Es as not only an audience surrogate but ALSO as their own character makes them so interesting. I personally actually hated them for a little while after watching some of the voice dramas. Because they act cruel. And make bad decisions. And say insensitive things. And some of that is seeping in from the audience, but even more interesting to me is that a lot of it is just a result of their environment. They’re harsh and defensive and seem very convinced in their own righteousness, and they come off as a total asshole about it sometimes. But think about it. They’ve woken up in this prison. Fucking insane. But instead of freaking out about it, they begin to cling to their newfound authority. I mean, it’s the most rational thing to do. Like, it’s not a normal thing to do, but it’s rational. It’s easy to make yourself forget about everything else when you fixate on a certain point, so that’s what they do. They don’t seem to think there’s any way out of this besides becoming a willing participant, so they lean real hard into the whole “warden” thing. They’re just as trapped as the prisoners are. I believe there’s an empty cell in the prison. Probably Es’s; It’s not a hard conclusion to come to. Milgram has happened before and my guess is that the prisoners are picked more or less by chance. This has very interesting implications. Either Es is a totally random person, or they’re just like the other prisoners, having taken a life. This would make sense as to why they needed to have their memories erased. This makes the whole thing just that much more hypocritical. But I digress.
And so now we come to my second point. Or maybe third on account of the tangents. The parallels with the other prisoners. Specifically number 03, Fuuta. Fuuta is a really good example of taking things out of proportion. His crime is simple: something along the lines of cyberbullying someone into commiting suicide. So like, yes. Objectively? Shitty. Shitty move. He’s not a great person. 20 year old terminally online gamer. Many people off the bat are not going to like him, and therefore probably vote him guilty. But put that into scale: he did not actively kill the person, nor was his intention to cause death. Which is not to say he wasn’t in the wrong. But consider it; we’ve got this weird suspicious prison complex. And we’ve got some loser online. And then there’s the immediate consequence. Now we didn’t know Kotoko was going to go crazy, but regardless of that, that was the consequence of us voting Fuuta guilty. Now he’s literally missing an eye for the crime of… being mean online. So clearly some people started to think about this (hence his innocent vote in trial 2). He’s a crack in the facade, or something of the sort. Apply pressure, dig a little deeper, and it starts looking like, well, the stuff I’ve already said.
But more than that is the realization that Fuuta really has just been taken and put into this prison. He’s a normal person, who has behaved in a less than ideal way, but still a normal person, put into this absurd situation. And you know who else is like that? Well, everybody, but specifically Es. I genuinely do not think there will be a happy ending for anyone unless Es begins to realize this. Which means the audience beginning to realize this. The “innocent” and “guilty” votes don’t really mean anything. Or, they do, because they’ve been assigned value, but the person assigning value to them is, once again, Milgram. Or Jackalope, I suppose, assuming he is the guy behind the whole thing. Maybe I’m preaching to the choir. Maybe you guys have already considered this. But it’s been bouncing around my head all day and I was going a bit crazy over it and I had to get it out.
TLDR; I think the whole voting system is rigged in the favor of the prison itself rather than the prisoners, I don’t think that, as Es, we get to decide who is and who is not “guilty”, Milgram Project itself seems an awful lot like the experiment(not the content of the media, but the interactivity of it), and Es has probably done something bad in order to be in the prison in the first place. The key takeaway from this is that I’m actually really normal and pumping out 1.5k words in 2 hours because of this media is an average and usual thing to do.

It is time for me to rest now.
I think I made a pretty big dent in my first time participating in Artfight! It was really fun. I have one mote simple one to finish and then I should focus on some other things. (like actually learning dragon bones and doing something for Grey in the tanuki kigurumi or characters I never saw get into X Dive)
Really good learning experience I'm definitely proud of. I might participate in the smaller events too, but I think I was running low on bookmarked characters to draw and poses to choose from. The RNG search function may have missed some cool designs which id a bummer, but I got *some* at least haha
Been wanting to rejoin some Megaman art discords to really have the opportunity to feed my reploid OC art gifting habits, but as I have learned, Discord ain't it for this fandom. 🫠
Furry servers are okay so far. There's a lot of children, which I DON'T prefer, but they have art-trade chain channels. I like them since I rarely receive fanart for my designs, and the other person is held at gunpoint to finish within 24 hours! (seems like my designs break the flow every time. Could be their complexity? But I think it's... something else... Not sure yet though. Thought some of my OCs were simple, like the fairy armadillo one... it's been almost 3 days when they were supposed to get it done in 24 hours aaaaaaaaaa don't claim if you dont have time!!!)
I just... idk hope I can keep finding stuff to draw and keep up the momentum between commissions. I enjoy drawing, enjoy engaging with people who like my art... I miss it! Makes me excited, even if it's just like... 2 people or so here and there. My Twitter only has like one guy commenting and even that brightens my day, haha.
I need to give my close friends a break since they aren't always interested in the stuff I make. Most aren't furries or aren't into Megaman or male characters, etc. I wear them so thin at times. Bless their hearts for dealing with my bullshit for over 5 years (like closer to 10 probably).
Now that I have the ability a d knowhow to make CSP speed drawings, I could make a proper Youtube channel for those interested in watching them, but don't want to join my streams. I thought about doing storytime speed paints, but the subjects of most of my more interesting storytime potential stories live WITH me and can hear me. And music gets copyright claimed. 🫠
Guess the era of storytime art passed me by unfortunately.
So... Yeah, haha.
But...! Big things comin! Stuff on the horizon! I'm learning CSP real good so maybe I can tackle that long list of to-dos! :D Aside from animations, I'll keep it a secret so I don't generate even minute disappointment haha...!
Thanks for lookin at my art. Thanks for reading my rants. I appreciate any and every glance for however long. It means a lot to exist a little more each day.😄

I totally agree that the mp100 fandom has a rancid problem with infantilization in general, but isn't it common for 14 yos to not know/actively be aware about gay people or their own sexuality even when they aren't sheltered? I thought people were just relating their own experiences as unaware middle schoolers onto teru and mob
totally! im sure there are tons of 14 year olds who just never come across that information. although, and i may be completely wrong, I personally think its not so much that most 14 year olds literally dont know what the word “gay” means and more dont have the emotional intelligence to look into what being gay means beyond “same sex relationship” (and, especially, “Bad Thing because my parents avoid the word like the plague and the other children around me Told Me So”)
my point with my post was that its incredibly unfair to teru’s character specifically to claim that he wouldnt know about gay people. he’s notoriously known for being perceptive of the people around him — because he has to be or else he’d have been kidnapped by Claw. also, he has a superior complex!! he would NEED to know, even before he started changing as a person. he wouldnt be able to stand being out of the loop on a word other people almost definitely would be using around him.
the mob fandom likes to do this thing where they take a character with a very nuanced and intriguing personality and make them into a foolish, silly child who doesnt know anything. like, the thought that teru doesn’t have the ability to take 10 minutes to look up a word he doesn’t know — a word which would be hard to avoid hearing in a delinquent gang in the early 2010s, mind you — is a bit insulting to his agency as a person.
if teru doesnt know he’s gay, its not because he doesnt know that same sex relationships are a thing people can participate in, its because he is not able to relate homosexuality to his own identity. because hes a middle schooler. if people want to relate their own experiences onto teru, thats fine, but also this is a public website where if they say a bad take, i have the right to say i dont like it and theyre wrong `¯\_(-_-)_/¯`

I feeel the irritation towards the weird "shipping culture" takes on a personal level, since, in my experience, a lot of Allo people just looked at Aromantic people's conversations about romance in media (& occasional venting. It wasnt always making a point but it was generally separate from actual criticism which I dont think they... understood LOLOL) & went "Bet I could use the bare bones of this to make people feel bad" & stripped all the nuance (as well as anything even vaguely mentioning Aromantics) away from the discussion
Like its wiiild to me how straightforward it was. Us & our conversations got a bit more attention & then damn near overnight the odd shaming people for participating in shipping culture at all started being a more popular take & Aros got completely kicked out of the argument. Like damn people dont have to agree with us but could they at least not misinterpret our shit then claim it was theirs the whole time?
& it was alllways the folks harassing us online who two days later decided they were better than other people & shipping characterz makes you worse than them & means you have no nuance & never analyze shit. Its crazy how many of the folks trying to act like shippings immature are also reylo types shipping kids & adults together, because to them thats not a contradiction apparently LMAO
Im agreeing with you & bringing this up because I think this is a part of why this whole thing got popular [again] which lots of people dont know about & not me trying to claim this is solely effecting Aros or an attempted end all be all analysis just shit Ive observed and talked to people about
This is an interesting perspective actually so thanks for bringing it up. I can't speak much to this because a lot of what you're talking about is slightly outside of my realm of observance, but it is obvious to me now that I think about it that what is roughly the same set of criticisms has been received very differently depending on who is saying it.
I have noticed the reylo/reylo adjacent/literally-ids-as-a-proshipper but also believes that "shipping" is ruining all culture forever thing too. Frankly a lot of people who bemoan shipping in this way are just literally, shippers, in the classic sense, and do a lot of classic fandom behaviors while simultaneously saying that fandom is rotting brains or w/e. It's literally "it doesn't count when I do it" and it's so..... unserious.

i dont know if you addressed this but do you think kr was purposely distancing buddie this season (as people claim) to get people to stop shipping them? (even though i think their small interactions albeit at work were telling)
I imagine the People With Opinions are getting fandom going today for me to receive messages like this again, lol.
One.
There is no “stopping fandom from shipping them” in year six.
Two.
If there was an attempt to discourage shipping, BT or EddieAna would either still be going or Buck would have reverted to Buck 1.0 in 6A like some were convinced of.
Three.
I don’t know how Kristen feels about Buddie, but even if she doesn’t think it’s a risk worth taking, she’s not the one making that big of a decision. If Buddie ended up not being canon, she wouldn’t be going behind Tim’s back to do it. He’d be in agreement regardless of whether he chooses to participate in “breaking them up”.
Four.
The lack of Buddie scenes with substance in 6A seems to be, above all else, a consequence of focusing on the other dynamics within the group.
Kristen knew what she was doing, but it wasn’t malicious intent (She can’t make her boss change his original plans. If he wants to go through with canon Buddie, she’s gonna be part of the process.) It’s more like “We’ll just deal with that when we have to.”
Does this mean we could be getting more Buddie in 6B? I guess it depends on how you feel about Buck being the potentially injured party and Eddie’s role in all of that.
Do people expect more Buddie in 6B if they’re rooting for Eddie to go on dates with/kiss random men? Lol
