Daycare Attendant Base/Template

So I’m in the process of designing some of my own DCA OCs, but I noticed that there doesn’t seem to be any existing bases or templates that are close(r) to their in-game proportions. So I decided to make one! While I’m not the greatest artist and there are plenty of things I’m not 100% happy with (please for the love of god ignore the spelling on ‘palettes’ I AM NOT RE-SAVING ALL THE FILES AGAIN), I think this could be a useful resource for anyone else to use!

I made two versions since I noticed that a fair number of fans liked to give them anthro paws, and while I’m not an anthro or furry artist by any means, I think it came out really good!

Rules to follow when using this resource:

Please credit me. Using this base for personal or commission/adoptable use is totally fine, but please tag me or link to the base!

Do not re-post or sell the base itself, this is a free resource for anyone to use.

My goodness gracious, if you told me 6 months ago I would have this many (and largely I imagine from the DCA fandom!?!), I would have been in utter disbelief 🫢 …but also absolutely delighted!!

There I was, standing in the rain, my ears still ringing from the door slamming behind me. Everything had gone downhill so fast. First, my job fired me without warning or reason then, unable to find a new job, I was evicted from my apartment due to being unable to pay rent. With my suitcase at my feet, I stared blankety down the street. What was I going to do? I had nowhere to go. My family had cut ties with me years ago, and I didn't have a friend to speak of. Was there a shelter I should go to, or would I be sleeping on the street tonight? "Oh, dear! Are you okay?" I flinched, not expecting anyone to speak to me. Looking around, I saw an expensive black car parked at the curb, and a back window rolled down. As I watched, the back door opened, and a man, preceded by a large black umbrella, exited the car. As he straightened, I took a step back, gazing up at a towering individual standing before me. Dressed in a pale blue suit, this guy had to be almost 7 feet tall, towering over me. His hair was shimmery gold, making him look like a sun. Golden eyes glittered as, with a soft smile, the man asked, "You look to be in a bit of a bind. Would you like some help?"

Pulled from the sea 5 years ago, I was tied up, beaten, and sold to owner after owner, each deciding I was too dangerous to keep. Back then, I was strong, able to break bones and tear flesh with ease, singing to lure humans to their demise. It's what my kind was made to do, kill humans. But no more. Kept in increasingly small tanks, barely fed, and unable to swim, I started to weaken. Eventually, I was dumped here. It was some kind of oddities collection. My owner had other humans pay to look at his strange assortment of items he had gathered from around the world. Then one day I encountered two strange humanoid creatures that resembled the Sun and the Moon and my life started to change for the better.

My life is good for what it is. Except that I’m dead. Well, undead. I’ve been undead for about 15 years now, and I haven’t aged a day. Being a vampire hiding among humans can be difficult at times, mainly dealing with sunlight and avoiding mirrors, but I manage. I’ve been living and working in this little town as the town blacksmith for about 7 years now, and I’ve become a full-fledged member of the little community here. I thought I had been doing a good job hiding my presence among the humans, but one day two of the most well-known vampire hunters came into town. If they find out what I am, they will kill me, but both of them have become intent on becoming my friends and maybe more. How can I keep myself from being discovered when two hunters are trying to romance me?

Cosmic Detectives:

I skid to a halt, a brick wall blocking me in. Turning around, I hoped in vain that I had enough time to backtrack and take another path before I was trapped. Two sets of glowing eyes met my gaze as I faced the entrance of the alley. One set red, the other blue. It was too late. Two guns were leveled at me, ready to fire.

Blood and Stars:

Wedged into my little hiding nook up in the second layer of book shelves, I could hear Sun whimpering somewhere below me. Over excited as he was, he had tripped and fallen face first over the sofa on the main floor, giving me the chance to escape. I was currently on the upper balcony of the library room, hidden behind the reading chairs that adorned one corner, pushed up against the wall. The whimpering turned into sniffles and I could almost believe that he was genuinely injured but I knew better. He had caught me this way before, coming out of hiding to see if he was hurt from whatever fall he had taken, clumsy as he was. He was just toying with me, seeing if I would come out of hiding on my own. Sooner rather than later he would get bored and start his search for me, calling out for me to come play, he wouldn’t bite. He would. The boys usually did. Vampire AU. Sun and Moon have a thirst for blood.

The DCA Palooza is finally here! We're so excited to have you here.

After years of hard work...

The DCA Palooza is finally here.

And here's the intro post.

Why was the Palooza created?

Recently, I made a note commenting on the atrocious reblog-to-like ratios for the Daycare Attendant Fandom. As @chandlelures calculated using their own art, 18 percent of their notes were reblogs, and the rest were likes. Now some are fine with this. For them, likes are any other type of validation except that logic falls flat when you consider how this site works. Reblogs put art on your follower’s dash, keeps the art circulating, and you can leave nice compliments in the tags which artists will probably screenshot and read when they’re feeling sad. It’s about a feedback loop of good vibes and participating in community.  The ratio particularly affects smaller artists who may average 10 notes at best, and when over half of those notes are likes–well, it hurts their chance of growing their audience and having more people see their hard work. 

That’s why I’m excited to introduce the DCA Palooza! 

It’s not just about fixing numbers, or asking people to reblog more. It’s creating an event space where we can share our ideas and art, while also promoting image accessibility (writing IDs, tagging for eyestrain and flashing, etcetera) for disabled fans too! It’s addressing the wider cultural shift that many older fans have complained about, where we’ve started treating ourselves as content creator and consumers, instead of fans all obsessed with the same blorbos. To do our part in fighting against this and building community…

Here are our main goals: 

Encourage fans to reblog and support smaller artists.  

While we love the concept of “gallery spaces” from @roachworks Gallery Jamboree! You don’t need to create a sideblog to become a curator. If you want to join Monthly Wrap Ups (where you promote new artists and AUs you found) all you need to do is tag @dca-fanart-gallery to join the event! We’ll see your tag, reblog from you, and then go hunt down those artists you mentioned and reblog from them too :D! 

Host weekly magmas and community events 

Magmas are a place where multiple artists can draw on the same canvas. It’s a great way to find new artists and their art styles, and have fun with their community. They’re currently hosted by @venomous-qwille every Saturday, and we post the art pieces in our Discord

Raise awareness about accessibility 

In the Discord Server, we ask that you write short IDs for every image you post and hopefully learn to write IDs for your own art. The main gallery will promote accessible artists and link to resources for writing image descriptions, as well as write IDs for much of the art we reblog. It doesn’t take too long to learn, and as the original artist, you’ll know what to emphasize in an ID than we’ll ever can!

Hi!!! Don’t know if you can answer my questions or not, cause they could be spoilers but I’m going to ask anyway and hope for the best!

1 - Are Soleil and Clip.exe the same animatronic? Like a yes or no is enough of an answer for me. I’m just a little confused with the recent art I found under the Ghost in the Machine tag.

2 - Given that Misuta has Sanii’s room ready for him including his clothes in there, does that mean that the only thing that didn’t arrive to the collector’s home was Sanii himself?

3 - This one is related to question 2 (although probably very stupid) if Sanii’s glasses and jacket are in his room does that mean that the animatronics have like multiple pairs of the same clothes or where they like send naked? (Again very stupid question, but my brain tends to focus on small details like this.)

4 - How many years as Sanii been missing?

5 - Fazbear Entertainment closed like 15 years ago in your AU (correct me if I got the number wrong), so what I would like to know is for how long as each DCA animatronic as been living with the collector? Like 10 years? 2 years? 6 months?

6 - Reader is fixing the original Sun/Moon but are they still two different AI’s or are they just Eclipse now?

7 - I believe that you said that Soleil, Fool, Clip.exe, Misuta, Sunspot, Nova and the original Sun/Moon are the main cast of Act 1, which makes 7 DCA animatronics. 8 if you include Sanii. What I would like to know is are you planning on introducing any more DCA animatronics in to GITM? Like how many?

8 - Are Soleil, Fool, Clip.exe, Sunspot or Nova like the original Sun/Moon, two AI’s in one body?

9 - And do the DCA animatronics in GITM wear the same clothes that they used to wear when they were with FazCo or did the collector buy them new ones? Does the collector like buy things for them? Like those books for Misuta. (Again with the stupid questions 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Sorry if some of this questions sound kind stupid, but my brain tends to focus on all sorts of details and strange things.

Hi!! I will try answer these as best I can! 1. Soleil and Clip are not the same animatronic! The art you saw was in relation to a drabble I wrote on discord- in which Clip.exe shapeshifts to look like Soleil. 2. Yep! Pretty much the only thing that didn't arrive was Sanii himself. 3. Some of the animatronics have multiple pairs of the same clothes- or multiple costumes, especially if they came directly from their plex, some don't, some prefer to wear human clothes, others don't. It really depends on what their personal situation was when they were 'acquired'. 4. Misuta has been at the house for about two years. Sanii has been missing for that length of time.

5. Sunspot has been with the collector for the longest time at about 11 years. Misuta the shortest at two years. I want to keep the rest a little vague as it's spoilery. There is a considerable gap between when Fazco shut down and when most of them were acquired.

6. This fic will feature Sun, Moon and Eclipse :)

7. Soleil, Fool, Clip.exe, Misuta, Sunspot are the main cast of act one. Ruin and Nova are added in act two. Beyond that there are other characters, but I'm not ready to share details on them yet!

8. Ah sorry, I can't answer this fully because of spoilers! Some of the animatronics are dual-ai, some of them were made separately. This will all be explained in fic.

9. Yes Harry does generally buy things for them if they ask. Some of them take advantage of this (some of them dont). e.g Sunspot and Sol do have many sets of clothes/other stuff that has been bought for them when they ask. Misuta and Fool have a preference for their old clothing (which luckily they have several sets of).

Did Matt’s wife divorce him after the DJ realization or did she die during childbirth? By the little info it sounds like he has full custody of Maddie??

If Matt’s wife IS dead, what happened to the string? In general what would happen if a soulmate died? Does the string disappear?

Matt saw his wifes as a dusty green, and he sees the DJ's as rainbow. Dj sees his string with Matt as a more electric green, woven with black! already answered! When your soulmate dies, the markings you had for them fade even more than they already wouldve if both of you confirmed the bond. Theyre still there though, they just lose all colour. shrug! hehehehe Silvery would still be the colour I imagine, though with more of a hint of teal! Its really up to reader interpretation though :) There is another song for moon! :)

Hmmm, well I’ve kept you waiting long enough (sorry about that), so today I’ll ramble about one of my favourite things about the DCA - their relationship, and more specifically, how they “share” with each other and how that works out for them!

I’m a sucker for any AU that explores the way Sun and Moon interact with each other, whether they’re in one body or not, whether they communicate directly or indirectly. And I’ve always been interested in exploring how long each of them has “out” at a given time, and how that affects them both.

Like, Sun is (in theory) supposed to be out at ALL TIMES in the daycare. ALL TIMES. No Moon, only Sun. The staff even put (flimsy) measures in place so that Moon would NEVER take over in that space. But from what we can tell, Sun and Moon were built to be a package deal, and with that taken into consideration, it’s very unlikely that this doesn’t put some amount of stress on Sun’s system at the best of times, what with him having NO time at all to go dormant outside of the night patrols. Even if he does have a little time to go dormant, he’s already seemingly under so much stress from the fear of what happens when Moon takes over that the forced transformations cannot be doing him any good at all.

Meanwhile, when he is actually active, Moon has some “freedoms” that Sun doesn’t seem to have. He can roam around the pizzaplex, for example. We never see Sun leave the daycare. From what we can tell in the game, only Moon can roam the pizzaplex because the daycare attendant only roams free when the lights go out at the end of every hour. Whether this has always been the case or whether it’s a new measure put in place by Freddy’s to replace some of the night staff with Moon is anyone’s guess really. But this freedom doesn’t really mean much in the grand scheme of things when it’s basically just been put in place so that Moon can be a puppet for the Afton virus. And throughout all of the social hours when he would have once been interacting with kids, Moon is now inactive. He’s only there to roam and get people to do the big sleepy. He’s lacking socialisation like CRAZY.

Between Sun being basically forced to be active throughout ALL of the hours when the lights are forcibly kept on, and Moon lacking ANY positive social interactions, this is really sad, because we see the other animatronics at least still able to roam the plex when it’s active and have “down time” in their rooms (not that this seems to work out so well for Monty to be fair), but all Sun gets is the ugliest mess of a space in the world to retreat to and all Moon knows how to do anymore is punish people who he thinks ought to be sleeping. So even beyond the virus there are just layers and layers of anxiety Sun has lived with for who knows how long, and there is so much bad socialisation that Moon must be so used to by now that he basically has no identity outside of correcting what he sees as problems (aka putting people to sleep), because the on/off cycle that Freddy’s has put in place for them won’t allow them to do anything else. It’s crazy!

Then in addition to these we get so many amazing fanon takes on how they both feel about this - is it something they actively put thought into? If they communicate with each other in any way, does knowing what the other one deals with stress them out even more as two halves of a whole? Whether they’re together or separate, do they ever wish they had what the other one had, or does knowing what the other one deals with make them feel grateful that they ended up how they did? Do they work together to combat the issues they’re now facing, or is a constant battle going on inside of them? So many interesting things to think about when it comes to these guys!

Hey I’ve seen you love bug au for Sun and moon going around and I really like it, I’m going to read the fic soon and probably make some art based on it.

I recently saw some fanart for the Stanley Parable with a similar concept. I wanted to ask if you took inspiration from things1do since they have a love bug au too but with different origins.

I'm actually not very familiar with Stanley parable at all!! I've seen the stuff in the lovebug tag and it looks super cool, but the DCA lovebug au is just the result of my brainworms! Though it's a pretty common concept in fandom so I don't like, personally claim it or anything. Thanks for the ask!

(Lately I’ve been writing down some dca headcanons and dialogue snippets for fun and this is one of them)

(It’s supposed to be a line from a dialogue with sun/moon where they try to push away y/n from themselves to save them from danger/hurt or something... (specifically they realise that they can’t have a proper relationship since they’re stuck at the plex and basically have an existential crisis about that)) and y/n replies with this bc they’d rather get hurt than abandon them (obviously omg))

I imagine eventually y/n would steal them away somehow and everyone lives happily ever after somewhere and it’s all just domestic fluff but first we must suffer a bit xd

So, in PMH, the Jester boys don’t seem to own pants. Is there a specific reason for this design or was it more of a “hey, y’know what would be cool? No pants.” Kinda thing?

And, will we ever get a disaster in the suit? (Or, like an injury that causes reader to bleed through the costume?) a little specific, but I’m very curious how the boys would react, especially Sun considering he doesn’t even have an inkling of thought about Princess being a human.

It’s just been circling in my mind what would happen if reader like.. got cut by a ragged edge in the suit and it bled through a bit. What would the boys first thoughts be?

The reason the boys don’t have pants in PMH is entirely due to a tag that I read early on in PMH that asked why they didn’t have pants. Now, at the time the reason was because I liked the doll-joint design, but soon it evolved to a kid of silly petulance on my part. When I heard the demand to give them pants my brain pulled a 180 and I went >:] I will never give them pants now. And thus my legacy became the pantsless DCA. A no pants supremacy, if you will.

To answer your second question, an injury has technically already happened in the suit. (Spoilers for an already released chapter) when the Princess fell from the Royal Platform during rehearsal and Sun caught her, her arm and wrist suffered from a pretty bad sprain. She was really lucky it wasn’t much worse. There was no blood in this injury (that would give away the secret) but it did lead to some of the animatronics of the Castle learning the Princess’s identity.

As for spoilers for future chapters….you’ll have to wait and see ✨
