Robin was worried and a little mad with Steve. The older didn’t come to his turn on Family Video, he even didn’t call her after the plan Steve had to confess to Eddie.

She sigh and look over the clock onto the wall, ten minutes more and Robin can left and go see if Steve was okay. To the sound of the bell on the door and this hitting the big window, Robin jump and look over there, only to see the kids and a piss off Eddie.

“Robin! Robin! Did you see steve?! He didn’t come to search for us after hellfire!” Dustin makes his fast way where the mention one was, looking concerned and sad.

“No, he didn’t even call me last night.” Robin play nervously with her fingers, pinching her cuticles nearly making them bleed. “I was planning go to his house and see him.”

“Good, check out earlier and let’s go.” Max demands to the only older girl there.

Robin look again the clock, nine minute more, she can go nine minutes earlier. “let’s go.”

They make it to Harrington State, or the castle, how Mike and Eddie calls it. Robin knock the door, no respond, she do it again, no respond, she back up looking around for a emergency key, she found it under a big leaf of a plant.

She opens the door and they all jumps to the loud sound of music and singing that comes from upstairs, Robin look at the group, they enter and follow the music.

“YA LO VES, LA VIDA ES ASÍ”

“TÚ TE VAS Y YO ME QUEDO AQUí.”

“shit, someone really passionate about this song” mike comment with a half grin on his face. “what language even is this?”

“Spanish, if i can guess.” Eddie responded vaguely.

“¡LLOVERÁ, Y YA NO SERÉ TUYA!” a loud sob comes after that. “¡SERÉ LA GATA BAJOOO LA LLUVIAA. Y MAULLARÉ… POR TI!” “the last vocal expand but broke for heavy and louds sobs and laments, the voice was familiar.

They all look each other until see over the open door of Steve rooms, who was in the floor rounded with chocolate wrappers and nose-rags, the brunette let out an ugly whimper that makes the group shiver, they never seem Steve like this.

Another song start to play, Steve let out another whimper.

“Tu eres la tristeza y de mis ojos.”

“Que lloran en silencio por tu amor.”

“What we can do?” ask Dustin softly to Eddie, who bites his lip and didn’t answer.

“¡…Obligo a que te olvide el pensamiento! ¡Pues siempre estoy pensando en el ayer!” The crying boy let out a lament with his eyes closed, Steve blew his nose and continue to sing along the women in the Vinyl with tears still running down his face.

The group just backwards and left him be, maybe tomorrow he is okay.

After a while of leaving on eddie’s van, Lucas let out the question that everyone was thinking.

“Hey, since when Steve knows spanish?”

The two song i mention are “La gata bajo la lluvia” and “Amor eterno” - Roció Durcal.

Both song are really good and makes me cry, the first come out in 1981 and the second in 1984. So, thinking of Steve following Roció Durcal for his hispan side just makes me kicks my feets.

now i've watched a fair amount of d&d i've started to pick up on the differences between dm style i think

like brennan IS all the bad guys. every game he dms is brennan vs the players. he makes npcs and battles that make his friends throw things at him and he smirks the whole time. he makes them tell him their worst fears and then he makes them do it. and it's awful and amazing and really funny

matt IS exandria. his characters and battles never feel written or constructed, they just feel like things that already existed in the world. it's all about verisimilitude with him, and he's amazing at it. he tends to fade into the background and let the players react to the story and it makes everything he does incredibly cinematic

aabria dms like she's just another player at the table reacting to the story, right up until someone gets lulled into a false sense of security and tries to fool around and THEN she throws a curveball by making them deal with the consequences of their choices. she's like oh you think that's funny?? then i'm about to be hilarious, bitch. and she keeps getting away with it bc she's just that good!

Demon twins? Demon twins. 

Damian? Good at the assassin side of things, at least for a four year old, but Danyal? He’s okay, but he’s far better at things like poisons and bookkeeping. Which is honestly? Okay. They’re the League of Shadows, and sure a majority of the members are assassins, but it’s definitely not all there are. So? Danyal starts getting medical training. 

Not to say that either of the boys don’t know their fair share of violence and healing- it’s just better to let them play to their strengths. One doesn’t keep a league over centuries if they just have one type of warrior, or even just warriors. A variety is needed. 

So one gets trained more towards the business side of things. Damian may be better at wielding the weapons and killing- even if neither have had their first kill quite yet- but Danyal shows far more proficiency at acting, at masking who he is and gathering information. 

Damian, when he’s first sent to their Father, doesn’t mention his twin. Not because he’s jealous or hates him or anything like that. You just don’t talk about someone in an undercover mission in the League, and it’s not something he realizes isn’t a rule everywhere. 

Needless to say, the Bats have more than a mild freakout the first time Damian mentions a twin who will be coming to the manor now that his mission is over.

thinking about how Humans Are Space Orcs stories always talk about how indestructible humans are, our endurance, our ability to withstand common poisons, etc. and thats all well and good, its really fun to read, but it gets repetitive after a while because we aren't all like that.

And that got me thinking about why this trope is so common in the first place, and the conclusion I came to is actually kind of obvious if you think about it. Not everyone is allowed to go into space. This is true now, with the number of physical restrictions placed on astronauts (including height limits), but I imagine it's just as strict in some imaginary future where humans are first coming into contact with alien species. Because in that case there will definitely be military personnel alongside any possible diplomatic parties.

And I imagine that all interactions aliens have ever had up until this point have been with trained personnel. Even basic military troops conform to this standard, to some degree. So aliens meet us and they're shocked and horrified to discover that we have no obvious weaknesses, we're all either crazy smart or crazy strong (still always a little crazy, academia and war will do that to you), and not only that but we like, literally all the same height so there's no way to tell any of us apart.

And Humans Are Death Worlders stories spread throughout the galaxy. Years or decades or centuries of interspecies suspicion and hostilities preventing any alien from setting foot/claw/limb/appendage/etc. on Earth until slowly more beings are allowed to come through. And not just diplomats who keep to government buildings, but tourists. Exchange students. Temporary visitors granted permission to go wherever they please, so they go out in search of 'real terran culture' and what do they find?

Humans with innate heart defects that prevent them from drinking caffeine. Humans with chronic pain and chronic fatigue who lack the boundless endurance humans are supposedly famous for. Humans too tall or too short or too fat to be allowed into space. Humans who are so scared of the world they need to take pills just to function. Humans with IBS who can't stand spicy foods, capsaicin really is poison to them. Lactose intolerance and celiac disease, my god all the autoimmune disorders out there, humans who struggle to function because their own bodies fight them. Humans who bruise easily and take too long to heal. Humans who sustained one too many concussions and now struggle to talk and read and write. Humans who've had strokes. Humans who were born unable to talk or hear or speak, and humans who through some accident lost that ability later.

Aliens visit Earth, and do you know what they find? Humanity, in all its wholeness.

A little life update!

I'm back from our latest trip and leaving again in a couple of days but! I can finally say we are officially moving! 😄

We've been looking for houses travelling back and forth from Galicia weekly these last few months. It was an ordeal in many ways, a logistical and bureaucratic nightmare honestly, we found and lost many houses and spent so much money, time and braincells in the process. But in the end we found the most amazing house so it was worth it!! In our favorite city, beautiful antique furniture, several floors, extra rooms for hobbies, enclosed balcony, a fireplace, a whole garden with a lemon tree!! and for the same rent price than what we are paying for our small apartment in Madrid now lmao, big city prices are nonsensical 😭

We met the neighbors over the garden fence one morning and they are so lovely, they have apple trees and offered some to us and we met their dog too and they told us the story of the house and the people who have lived in it and places and customs of the town and offered to take us to the farmers markets to teach us about the best choices 🥺

We also met our landlady's family and they are so nice and friendly too. They helped us out with furniture, all their children and husband helped too and we offered to invite them all for dinner sometime to thank them when we are settled and they said they would invite us instead because they are six and we are two lmao Ahhh I just can't believe this is all real, it feels like a dream.

The weather is also colder and way rainier and we can finally enjoy summer like the earth intended, I'm no longer a summer hater!! We have wildflowers and mushrooms and magpies in our garden!! and chestnuts!! and an attic!! and a stone grill!! and a big bright kitchen aaaaa I can't stop gushing about everything

Nicolas is so happy too, he has been teaching himself everything about gardening and house keeping and the animals and plant species of the area. We already told all our friends and family to plan their trips to visit us since now we can host them more comfortably and for longer stays!!

I can't wait to be done with the move and start our new town life close to the sea in a beautiful house with friendly people and peace and quiet what the hell!! I never thought I could ever have something like this in my life I'm so serious 😭
