i keep trying to think of funny/poetic ways to talk about all the things i'm feeling right now but i honestly can't so. i'm really sad about what happened with my partner. i know he was an inconsiderate prick about it and that i didn't do anything wrong and i couldn't have prevented it but i'm just really fucking sad.

#lowkey cringy caption but I thought it was fitting given the context #my art #artists on tumblr #the legend of korra #original character #who I still haven't figured out a tag system for lmao #Kat and Nia and their multiverse of madness #alternative title: what a difference half a lifetime can make #summiya at 18/19 vs summiya at 34/35 is like night and day. she barely even looks like herself anymore #or maybe.. she looks more like herself than she ever did? what came before wasn't her. it was an empty porcelain doll devoid of personality #hiding the rotten nature underneath that's been steadily seeping through #and now that she has been thoroughly destroyed her outward appearance finally reflects what she was like inside all along #but just as she manages to convince herself of it. she looks in the mirror and refuses to accept that this is who she really is #where did that gorgeous girl who was so excited for her wedding day go? or the one who lit up upon being showered with compliments?#what happened to them? to her? how did she sink so low?#she was supposed to be better than this... better than her siblings. she was always better than Zaheer and Aiza #but now she's easily the worst of the free. their betrayal doesn't even compare #she deserves death for what she did. she looks at the bruising on her throat and wonders why it wasn't enough #why he didn't press just a little harder. then at least she wouldn't have to live with the shame #how awful of her to wish for that. she is getting what was coming to her. she did all of that for the shame. it is her punishment #she doesn't get the mercy of dying and escaping the consequences of her actions #she is by no means innocent. what's happening now is simply justice being enacted. she's sure of it #she's alone and ruined and miserable. having driven away everyone who could have possibly cared for her. not that anyone did #perhaps it's better that way. maybe then no one else will look at her and realise just how different she looks from her younger self #she wasn't happy back then either but she was content. she was taking the first step towarcs the perfect life she was promised #now that very save perfect life is crashing and burning all around her. perhaps it was inevitable. it was always going to end this way #(sleepy tags so I apologise if they make no sense whatsoever or are just rehashes of stuff I've said before. #there are so many gorgeous passages in W&P that i could pick #why not this one in which Andrei reflects on several of them?#I've already talked about the Natasha and the moon passage on this blog. truly one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever read in any book #but part of what's so interesting about that scene is that we actually get it from Andrei's perspective. he's listening below the window #and overhearing Natasha that night is really what makes him love her #it's what made /me/ love her #and he carries that experience with him alongside his own experience looking up at the sky on the battlefield at Austerlitz #Napoleon himself sees Andrei and commends his courage but Andrei barely notices because the sky is so so beautiful #the lofty heavens which he never really considered before #but Natasha did #and so it's those moments his friendship with Pierre this old oak that renew his lust for life #life is not over at thirty. once i heard a girl exclaim at the loveliness of the moon and wish to fly away.#once i lay on a battlefield and all i could see was the beauty of the sky #and my friend Pierre believes in the future and he's searching it out #and look. this tree is still here #first time i read W&P i was honestly so relieved that so many people got happy endings the tragedy of Andrei's death didn't fully register #i mean the chapters concerning his death are beautiful and sad. the kinship between Natasha and Maria at his bedside #the peace he finds as he dies #but it really is a story in which he had decided to live fully only to die young. and that's become increasingly tragic to me as I've grown #happy birthday tolstoy #russia where are you flying to?#pontifications and creations

I wasn't too familiar with the mean girls musical movie Karen and Gretchen at first so I didn't really look into them but um yea so I just checked their filmography and Instagram pages out and I love them actually and from what I see, these two can pull a greatly unique and possibly quite earnest take on the cult classic roles that are Karen Smith and Gretchen Wieners. Anyways great now I want this fucking movie to be decent for their sakes as well-

2023 in review! I made an effort to try more things and it worked mostly (at least for TV and movies). New things, new-to-me things, and new installments of old things all had characters to love even if I didn't necessarily feel fannish about them, and I'm hoping 2024 does, too.

#but yeah no I had a lot of fun with some of these #mp100 is now fully going down as one of my favorite works of art ever. i mean it. i'd stick it on a shelf with discworld.#trying Nida Manzoor's work was SO GOOD like if edgar wright knew how to make girls lovable I meant to only try one episode of WALP #and then I marathonned it all in one night right into the sunrise and I do not regret it #(look I love edgar wright but)#i had my issues with GO2 and Fionna & Cake and HxH (which I finally tried yes I am late) but still they had babies in them #one piece and the last of us did like major progress for proving those mediums *could* be adapted and not suck so seriously kudos #I didn't go into Barbie expecting it to Solve Capitalism and The Patriarchy so I appreciate what it did do #Nimona was just gorgeous #Across the spider-verse is so good it's hard to say anything about it #Peacemaker is obnoxiously good and Chris's breakdown near the end really got me #Bottoms & Marry My Dead Body & Ying-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity are just fun okay don't think about it #the strange planet show was sweet and peaceful to watch #and even with a 40% budget cut OFMD has my heart and ed is The babygirl of all time for me #thanks for reading these tags if you did and I hope you have a good new year #art i'm proud of
