It’s coming to the end of the season and I feel like we are getting lots more Lestappen content but I was thinking about the year as a whole and whilst we didn’t get many on track battles there was actually quite a lot going on this year. 

Off the top of my head…(and sorry if I have some of this wrong, I am just thinking out loud)

Bahrain - Max and Charles looking at each other like lovesick teenagers in the press conference. Hopefully you know the look I mean. - the one where Max is staring at Charles and Charles catches him staring and they both look away and smile. 

Baku - Max is going off at George and looks furious but instantly starts smiling the second he goes to congratulate Charles and Charles winks at him. 

Baku - Max showing Charles a picture on his phone and Charles leaning right into him 

Baku - Charles sitting in Checo’s chair because he’s too busy talking to Max to notice and then going and standing in Max’s podium spot and Max being completely fine with that.

Monaco - Max chasing after Charles to tell him he liked his special race suit.

Zandvoort - Charles checking Max out when he didn’t realise he was filming for Mclaren and thought he was just looking at his phone. 

Monza - they are too busy having their little debrief after qualifying and walk off in the wrong direction together and someone has to come and get them (I think this was Monza because I seem to remember Charles having that yellow and red suit on but I could be wrong)

Monza - Charles telling the crowd not to boo Max. 

Qatar - Max winning the WDC and Charles literally jumping out of his car so quickly to congratulate him that his engineer was still talking to him on the radio and wondering where he went.

Padel - The fact they actually did hang out away from the track and played padel.

Brazil - Max being too busy talking to Charles to start his actual interview and then the two of them chatting away in the background as Lance was interviewed.

Brazil - The whole ‘Charlie’ video and the fact that Charles walked passed everyone to go and chat with Max.

Las Vegas - Max bringing Charles into his interview in the press pen and the two of them looking so happy together. 

Las Vegas - Max apologising for the turn 1 incident and the little arm touches, Charles’ concern when he thought Max wasn’t going to be able to get in the Rolls Royce and then the two of them chatting away.

Las Vegas - After Max mentioning the inchident multiple times on twitch streams and doing the inchident thing on tiktok he finally got to say ‘inchident’ in front of Charles. Also the two of them reminiscing about growing up together and karting. 

Social Media stuff - Max getting excited recounting the story about Charles streaming and Charlotte having to buy a subscription to his account to ask him to let her into the apartment. Charles liking Lestappen edits of the sunrise/storm laps. Charles including a picture of Max on one of his insta stories. 

And then, on top of all that we have had numerous photos of other drivers looking like third wheels around them and the two of them chatting away together in press conferences like nobody else matters. 

I think there is actually lots more, maybe I need to put together a load of photos or something at some point but this year has been full of Lestappen. Hopefully next year we get lots of on track stuff too.

BAHRAIN 2023

the youngest mclaren driver stood off to the side, nervous for his first ever formula one grand prix. his teammate seemed less nervous, but still nervous to a certain degree. oscar truly didn't want to fuck this up, not after everything that happened in the last 6 months for him. he noticed a brunette girl staring at him from across the pitlane, she gave him a small wave before turning to go back inside the redbull garage.

the younger brunette turned to look at the slightly older one, "who was that?"

the older one turned to look at him, “you don’t stand a chance. she's checo's niece, very overprotective that man is. not excluding you know, max and daniel. take it from me, i've tried.” 

“i asked who she was not if you tried to get her number.” 

“oh, i have her number, but i have a girlfriend, you pastry. matter of fact," lando said, "you have her number too."

“it’s piastri! you know this!” oscar shouted as lando skipped, literally skipped, away from him. oscar rolled his eyes at the older drivers actions before turning to go back inside the mclaren garage.

the brunette girl stood outside the redbull garage again, with daniel ricciardo at her side. she turned to look at the empty spot oscar had once been in, then back at daniel, “can't believe i still think he's cute. he's the enemy.” 

daniel laughed, "he's not the enemy isa. you're allowed to have a crush on someone." 

isabella rolled her eyes, running a hand through her hair, “i hope him the best at shit-claren.” 

“isa!” 

the girl laughed, “it’s true!”

isabella had been so focused on her phone and texting back the others that she didn’t notice the person coming at her. she crashed into the person and her phone fell to the floor, landing with a loud crack. at least the crack sounded loud to her, but not louder than the ‘mierda’ she let out. she bent down to pick up her phone and so did the person she had bumped into, both reached for her phone, bumping heads.

“fuck,” isabella softly whispered, “you have a hard head,” she told the other person as she rubbed her head.

the person laughed, “guess that’s a good thing for an f1 driver.”

isabella’s eyes slightly widened when she realized who she had bumped into. she would recognize an australian accent anywhere, she had grown up near daniel ricciardo. oscar piastri was too busy inspecting her phone for any cracks to notice the expression she had made. he handed her the phone as both stood to their full heights, he was noticeably taller than her.

"no cracks," oscar told her as he handed back her phone. she smiled politely at him, "thanks."

"and your friends are blowing up your phone. i think you had like 10 messages come in while i was checking to see if it had any cracks. not that i read them-"

isabella waved him off, "it's just max and danny, they were arguing about who had the horniest songs written about them."

oscar laughed, "i'm oscar piastri."

"i know, i'm isabella perez" she replied, "i saw your alpine tweet, plus arthur talks about you a lot."

"i know," oscar replied, "arthur leclerc? you two know each other?" he questioned as they began walking together. isabella didn't know where he had originally been heading but now the two were walking back to their hotels.

"he's dating my sister, dulce? you might know her."

"oh, you're isa. i always wondered why they called you isa and not bella."

"because i will stab anyone who calls me bella," isabella emptily threatened. too enthralled on her phone she failed to notice the small smile on oscar's face.

"okay, bella."

isabella quickly looked up, glaring at him, "i'm glad you dnf'd."

"ouch," oscar dramatically muttered, "you wound me bella."

the two were interrupted by a voice shouting for oscar. they turned around and were met with the sight of alex albon and logan sargeant, both williams drivers also walking back to their hotel.

"alabono!" isabella shouted, rushing to hug the bleached-blonde. the taller driver opened his arms and accepted the hug, "hi, isa. did you have a good day?"

"no, charles dnf'd, so the ferrari in me is crying. however, the redbull in me is screaming for joy."

before alex could reply a ding interrupted him and caused isabella to look down at her phone. her eyes widened, and she handed her phone over to alex, "can you give this to max or danny later? i'm catching a flight on air-max later tomorrow."

alex nodded, "see you in glendale. or sooner."

"bye alex, bye logan, bye piastri!" isabella shouted as she ran off. logan looked confused between isabella's phone and alex, "why'd she give you her phone?"

the phone dinged again and alex sighed as he switched the phone to silent, "it's quite the story, one that either isa or dulce should tell you, not me."

"okay," logan said, he turned to oscar, "why'd she call you piastri?"

"oh, i called her bella," oscar replied, as if it was the easiest thing in the world. alex's eyes widned and logan knew their was a story there but he didn't pry. he wasn't close to any of the other drivers besides oscar, so he wasn't going to ask. he could be nosy sometimes but even he knew his limits. alex didn't want to talk about isabella's phone so maybe the phone had something to do with calling her bella.

"surprised you're still standing," alex said, "last time someone called her bella she kicked him in the nuts, and they had just met. he stopped calling her bella after that."

the two rookies exchanged looks as alex pocketed isabella's phone and pulled out his own phone and began to type furiously on it. logan's phone dinged moment's later but he ignored it, not wanting to make oscar suspicious. however, when his phone kept dinging oscar turned to him curiously and logan waved him off, silencing his phone.

"just friends from home, they were planing a party," logan quickly lied. oscar shrugged him off and logan was quick to divert the conversation to a random topic.

1. Montreal weekend. They went on two different dates -- Charles driving Pierre around in the white Ferrari, incapable of not posting a story about the bestest time he was having with him. But Pierre on the other hand created a mystery/secrecy around the weekend by not posting a dump for once. It's been wonderfully fuelling our imagination since then (and of course the fact that I mentioned it to Pierre adds an extra layer of 🥺 to it).

2. Abu Dhabi weekend. Another podcast of Pierre explaining how special their relationship is, Charles and Pierre FINALLY interviewed by Canal + together, then reunited -magnet style- during the drivers parade, Charles' mum with Pierre's dad during the AT send off, Pierre being the greatest boyfriend by blocking Checo on track... True love ❤

3. Monza drivers parade for this moment that absolutely owns my soul 😭

4. Singapore date. Pierre making an Insta post about their dinner together and then, when asked about it in a podcast, saying stuff like "we can be very personal" or "everytime we're together we're learning something from each other" and overall being convinced of their future together 🥺

he wears two types of caps currently, the red bull caps and the titty caps - the titty caps he wears bc kelly gives them to him and he seems to wear them mostly when he's in sunny locations and for the purposes of keeping the sun off his pale little face, we can't fault him for this!!! also they're titty caps, so bonus points

the red bull caps however! flat brimmed, not as flattering or as fun as the titty caps! but!! they serve their purpose! they aren't a part of max's daily life, they're not his go-to casual wear, he puts them on for work - he puts on the same polo and the same cap, and he goes to work, it's part of the uniform that he's created for himself (like, i think he's probably contractually obliged to wear rbr merch to the track, judging by what checo wears and what previous rbr drivers wore to the track but, specifically adding the cap to the look is probably NOT contractually obliged and that's what we're discussing here)

to add a comparison, i have this black cardigan that i love because it's the right warmth and doesn't give me sensory issues that i took with me basically everyday i went to work in my school library, i made it part of my uniform for myself and it was comforting to have that consistency, and i think max is basically doing the same thing with the caps that he wears for all red bull things

i really believe that it's part of a uniform for him because if you look at him hanging out with kelly or with his friends or with his family, or just outside of the media's eye, he isn't wearing a hat, because he doesn't need that consistency or comfort (ex. that insta story of him watching the race, he’s not wearing a cap because he doesn’t wear them casually)

and the reason i'm saying all this is because i love max's hair, i love capless max (and capless max tuesdays) but there's a massive contingent of max fans that are like "burn his caps" "he should never wear caps again" etc etc and i think they're missing the point that max wears his caps like armor

A Segunda Semana

Tou a escrever isto já com duas semanas de atraso porque pronto... Já se sabe né. Mas enfim, a segunda semana.

Apesar da semana ter começado bem com a ida ao museu da arte contemporânea com o Ilja, no resto da semana notei que passou um bocado o entusiasmo inicial e que em certas alturas me senti um bocado ‘culpado’ por não tar a ir a todas as atividades que os Melting Potes tinham planeadas para nós e inseguro por não tar a conhecer tantas pessoas como poderia. Felizmente no último dia da semana o entusiasmo voltou, quando fui a Arcachon, que foi SUPER FIXE.  Fica o ‘resumo’ da semana:

09/09 - Neste dia fui ao CAPC (Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Bordéus) com o Ilja e encontrei lá o pessoal da KEDGE embora só conhecesse basicamente a Kinga. Curti bué de ver o meu por acaso, embora achasse que ia ver o museu do vinho LOL. Havia salas bué engraçadas mas uma em específico achei muito fixe, era uma sala tipo com fetos mortos pendurados e órgãos pendurados a partir do teto, com uma luminosidade azul escura, uma light saber que passava uma oração qualquer meia satânica à frente e uma vibe super creepy. Adorei. Também houve outra sala onde vimos um filme giro sobre ovos e galinhas (?) e uma parte com espelhos com citações bué sexuais neles escritos. No fim ainda tivemos um pequeno momento de bonding over an artist que tem um artwork bué derpy e que ambos adorámos xD Inclusive veio a tornar-se a foto da nossa conversa de grupo dos aluno da casa. Overall, foi um excelente momento de bonding entre mim e o Ilja e adorei este dia.

10/09 - Neste dia consegui tratar da declaration of stay. WOO FINALLY!

11/09 - Hoje fui ter com o pessoal que tinha ido ao jantar no bistro a um bar qualquer. O problema foi que éramos tipo 150 e o bar era minúsculo. Tive com a valentina, a vera, a rita, com a phoebe, com o karlo e com o adithya. Conheci a yoyo que disse que se lembrava de mim por causa do meu cabelo e porque me tinha pedido o post it amarelo no dia do teambuilding. Ela ja ta bebada lole. Depois fomos a uma discoteca gay e tbh foi bue seca porque so passaram musica francesa e nao tinha la quase ninguem que eu conhecesse nem ninguem com que ainda me sinta “confortavel” para tar a dançar, em party mood e isso... So I decided to go home at 3:30 AM e a rita pesquisou no google maps por mim a minha morada. Dizia que era a 20 min a pé e eu “ok weird but sure vou seguir o caminho and ill be fine”. Primeiro de tudo bordeus a noite é completamente morto, nao se vê UMA alma penada na rua. Enquanto seguia o caminho a única pessoa que vi foi um gajo que me abordou para pedir um isqueiro, lol. Quando cheguei la NÃO ERA A MINHA RUA MAS SIM OUTRA COM O MESMO NOME. Fodasse... tive de voltar tudo para tras e decidi apanhar o primeiro eletrico da manha porque os ubers tavam caros. Mas não antes de 3 gajos suspeitos me terem tentado vender coca. Eu juro... só a mim. Enfim, cheguei a casa são e salvo, mas provavelmente é a última vez que tento vir sozinho à noite do centro de bordéus para casa.

12/09 - Acordei com uma mini ressacazinha muito leve. Nem bebi quase nada mas se calhar foi porque tive a brilhante ideia de comer cereais para o jantar no dia anterior. Either way, tava mesmo naquele mood mole e fui almoçar ao Quick porque já se sabe que este é o melhor tipo de comida para ressacas... SOUBE PELA VIDA OMG. Yeah that was about it LOL. Não fiz mais nada durante o dia todo para recuperar da ressaca mas senti-me um bocado mal por não tar a sair tanto como as outras pessoas...

13/09 - Neste dia decidi ir ao museu do vinho. Tava um bocado indeciso porque não sabia se ia ir alguém que eu já conhecesse mas como me tava a sentir mal por não andar a sair obriguei-me a ir. Quando cheguei lá falei com aquela rapariga espanhola um bocado antipatica do begginers course em frances (laura?) e ela literalmente so me cumprimentou por isso caguei nela. Depois vi a yoyo e fui cumprimenta-la e falar um bocado com ela. E finalmente, quando tavamos a entrar finalmente para o museu, fui me juntando como quem nao quer a coisa ao adithya e passamos a tarde toda juntos os 2 a ver o museu. O museu foi muito fixe, gostei bué da sala que era tipo um vídeo “imersivo” dum barco de transporte de barris de vinho, dos simuladores de “toque” em copos de vinhos, das mesas com projecoes e historias e da seccao com aromas de vinho para cheirar (tirei vários insta stories fixes tbh). No fim ainda pudémos provar um vinho à nossa escolha e o adithya tirou-me umas fotos bacanas e vice-versa. Ainda acabei por ir jantar kebabs com ele ao centro da cidade e tava super bom tbh, embora tenhamos pedido mal mas é na boa xD Depois fui para casa porque precisava de carregar o telemóvel e porque, lá está, ainda n me sentia confortavel para ir sair para uma discoteca com o pessoal. E nao queria apanhar a mesma “seca” do outro dia.

14/09 - Acho que nao fiz nada neste dia mas ja nao me lembro.

15/09 - Comprei o meu bilhete para Arcachon e fiz a Pavla perder 14€ pq ela usou o mesmo site que eu e aquilo não reconheceu o nome o nome dela por causa daquele caratér checo, então não lhe deu o bilhete. Ganda merda. MAS, POR OUTRO LADO, fiz ovos mexidos pela primeira vez (!!!) e aquelas massinhas de atum. E FICARAM BUÉ BOAS <3

16/09 - Finalmente chegou o dia de ir a Arcachon. Embora não tivesse com muita vontade de ir lá me obriguei a levantar cedo e fui. Ainda bem que fui porque ADOREI o dia e foi super divertido. Conheci a margherite, o abidhu, a yvone, A HUIXUAN!!! (a rapariga que me vendeu o bilhete para a Cite Du Vin), o Filip e mais uns quantos... Primeiro fomos à Dune du Pyla que realmente é muito bonita e depois de almoçarmos umas belas pizzas fomos à praia. Aí tava bué feeling myself tbh, até fui à água e saí a abanar o meu cabelo de forma bué sexy. Fds que cancro. E quando voltei ainda comi um hamburguer bue bom num restaurante com uma empregada super simpatica. Hei de voltar um dia.
