Ex Diris and the Card Spread

Just read the Ex Diris lore entry exotic grande launcher from the season pass and haven't seen anyone try to do a breakdown of the cards and how they align with cartomancy yet, cause I am gnawing at this.

So, the Deck of Whispers is an oracle deck (think tarot, but the cards and meanings are different).

One of the ways that people engage with cartomancy is by developing spreads, aka the order you draw the cards, and the places that you put them, add to the meaning of the cards.

Eg, a three card spread of past, present, future. The first card you draw represents the past, the second is the present, the third is the future.

I don't believe Eris' spread has an exact match (please let me know if it does), but it is very very close to the Celtic Cross Spread, particularly the expanded version.

I'll break down the spread, the meanings, and the cards below. There's very little theory crafting, but a lot more meaning finding, so I hope you enjoy!

The Labyrinthos link above is a very good full breakdown, but tl;dr, each card in this Celtic Cross Spread has a different meaning, which I'll get into (at a basic level), and it looks something like this:

Card 1 - Your current situation [Blades]

Eris interpretes this to mean Sword Logic. Yes, but I think it's also about the First Knife, and the Final Shape, aka this whole fight / saga is centered around whether or not the Witness is right.

Card 2 - The Challenge / Obstacle [Adherent]

Eris clearly sees this as Xivu Arath. I agree, an Adherent could also be known as a Disciple. The meaning also supports it: she's the threat of the season, the thing we have to overcome first.

Card 3 - Foundation / Cause of the situation [Sisters]

Eris clearly sees this as the Hive God's first selves. I agree, as the meaning supports this: who the Hive Gods once were is the foundation of who they have become.

Whilst this feels like a limited meaning (there are more causes than just them), I think it's a deliberate choice to set up the next card:

Card 4 - The / Your Past [The Harbinger]

Eris can only see this as herself. The spread meaning becomes tenuous here, perhaps because she is the Oracle and from the past she foretells the future? Perhaps it is her card because it is her past that is in play? Or perhaps it's because the writers wanted to have that very interesting line

Perhaps now she counted among those sisters. Savathûn, Xivu Arath, and Eris Morn. A game between siblings. A love that sharpens.

I've got a bit of a crack theory developing about this (particularly with what implies about her role as a Navigator), but that's for later.

This is also when the normal spread and Eris' differ. Traditionally, you then place Card 5, which represents the present. Eris skips this (perhaps because she doesn't need to know what's happening now), and goes straight to

Card 6 - Near Future [The Lie]

Eris wonders if this is the Guardians, or maybe the lie of the Deep. From a simple standpoint, perhaps it could just mean that the future is a lie, or that to know the Future is to know a lie? Or, following the way each card is an entity, perhaps this is the Witness? After all, they're going to be in our near future.

This is when the normal and Eris' spreads diverge again. Sometimes, at the end of a reading, people add three or four more cards across the bottom, which shows the more subtle influences around the person doing the reading. Eris does this halway through, creating:

Because she does it halfway through, I think Cards 6, 7, and 8 are clarifiers of the three columns beneath them, rather than the reading as a whole. (I'm also toying with the idea that they could also represent the Surface, the Sky, and the Deep, but eh)

(Lmao I've just realised that because I made the second graphic, now the numbers don't align, and I'm going to repeat Card 6 and now use the numbers from Eris' spread, sorry!)

Card 6 - aligned with Harbinger/Eris [Liminal]

Imo these match, Eris is currently occupying the liminal space between Hive and not-Hive, Light and Dark.

Card 7 - aligned with Sisters [Ascension]

Again, a match, their rise from being sisters to godhood.

Card 8 - aligned with The Lie [Lacuna]

Now, a lacuna is a gap, particularly where there should be, or once was, something. Eris saw it as part of a Guardian's Light, but I think it's specifically her Light - and the fact that she no longer has it.

She had not held it for centuries. The Hive sisters below beckoned more loudly than the Light did.

Aligned with The Lie, either she is tempted to fill it with the Lie (aka the Darkness), or the fact that she doesn't have it is the Lie (?).

Then we get to the final four cards, also known as the Staff.

Card 9 - Current approach / Your influence [The Witch]

Eris is torn between Savathun and herself, and I think that's reflected in what the meaning of the card could be. I'm leaning towards Savathun, because it's highly unusual to have two cards representing one person in a spread, and because she is, you know, the Witch Queen.

Also, that which is influencing us and dictating our approach right now is Savathun. So if we continue with our current approach, we will continue up the staff/column of cards to:

Card 10 - What you need to know / External influence [The Truth]

This is a fun card because it states The Truth, then Eris goes and says

There were too many truths for any one to triumph.

This is a very interesting line to me, and immediately brought to mind the final Veil Log, the Von Neumann-Wigner hypothesis mentioned, and this breakdown from Reddit. Tl;dr the Light is about creating possibilities, and the Darkness is about collapsing all possible states into one reality.

I also find Eris' use of the word triumph interesting - what will the final truth (final shape) of the universe be?

Card 11 - Hope / Fear [Lament]

Eris sees this as Oryx's death. I immediately thought of The Lament sword from Beyond Light. The sword was a gift from Clovis Bray to Banshee, due to his regret at not caring about the living whilst he was alive. In it, he states

Stay alive. For legacy.

However, when we activate the Clovis Bray AI, he threatens to kill Banshee. His initial lament is forgotten. Similarly, Savathun and Xivu Arath both once died, and Oryx brought them back.

So, these combine in two interesting ways; that of fear of total loss then rejection upon regaining it, and perhaps a fear/hope of sword logic being true.

Card 12 - Outcome [The Wish]

The particle The Wish feels important, and my immediate reaction was The Last Wish or Eris' Wish? Now Eris' was in the past, and I think both the meaning (Outcome) and Eris' interpretation suggest that this is something that will occur.

Eris had wished before. It had led her here. Would she be asked to wish again? What else would her desire wrought?

This post breaks down those lines really well. Or perhaps it is about the Last Wish, fulfilling it, that of the fireteam wishing to keep the Dreaming City / Awoken/Humanity safe?

A wish is desire, the greatest power in this universe.

Which is pretty much a direct quote from the Last Wish cinematic. This also reminds me of the reddit post, as being able to choose your reality feels like a pretty darn great power.

Eris' interpretations of these cards are built on each other, like a tower working up. A Witch, from whom Truth flows, which causes Lament, to the final outcome of The Wish.

This could be the story of Eris, actually. She asked for the way out of the tunnels under the moon (knowledge, and truth), losing and gaining something in the process, to obtain the wish of being free.

But also, according to Labyrinthos, with the staff (this column of four cards),

We learn how the context of this situation can affect the reader's life outside the situation, and also - how to change it, if desired.

I think these cards are not just for Eris, but for the story/season - the wider picture, and also how it may change later.

I also think that these cards do a really good job of bringing together a lot of different areas of Destiny story together - from Forsaken and the Last Wish, to Lament and Beyond Light, with the Hive and Witch Queen.

You know you keep acting this feral about Gene and it's gonna be pretty obvious who you are, Foot Anon. I'm just saying.

Anyways for Skinny Jeans size L, I'm just gonna get this out of the way, MCD Gene is bisexual and you can pry this headcanon from my cold dead blood encrusted hands. Before the whole Shadow Knight thing, he was flirting with basically anyone. Dante didn't see if because he was really careful to make sure his brother didn't know what was going on with him.

In fact, Gene hid a lot from his brother. He knew that Dante saw him as a role model, and despite being the worst role model ever of all time, he at least tried to hide his nefarious behaviors from his younger brother. It didn't always work, but Gene got very good at climbing in and out of windows, he was an incredibly fast runner, and he was very very good at lying his way out of sticky situations.

All of this made it easy to become the head guard. He barely even tried. Gene is always looking for a challenge. He does stupid dangerous shit because life is so boring, so monotonous, he has to find some way of making it entertaining. And he has the magic to literally fuck with people's memories, why not have fun with it?

This is why he doesn't actually mind being a shadow knight too much. He didn't fight the calling because he was waiting for an excuse, and he pushed Dante to his breaking point because he wanted a challenger that would be motivated enough to finally beat him. Might as well make it interesting and make it his own brother, amirite? Gene likes the extra power because it means he can explore more fucked up ideas, but it does have the downside of making things even easier for him than they were.

Gene is the strongest out of all the Shadow Knights. You will not be changing my mind about this. While Gene and Zenix fight a lot, half the time they don't even finish the fight because Zenix is clearly losing and Gene spares him, largely to piss him off. Gene likes fighting Zenix because Zenix is one of the few people who makes Gene's mostly still heart start beating, he makes him feel a rush of life and adrenaline, he loves fighting for his life so much.

Like I said in my SK headcanons post, I think Sasha is one of Gene's favorite people. After so much lying, killing, and manipulating, it's hard for him to connect with people. Hell, he actively fucked around with Sasha's memories, but she doesn't hold much ill will towards him for it honestly. Neither one of them care much about it in the grand scheme of things, and more often than not Gene will think of Sasha very fondly. When she escapes from the Nether, he actually kind of misses her and their long talks.

Gene and Sasha fucked, is what I'm saying.

Actually, scrap the last ask I’ve refined it a little. One day the gang wakes up and they basically just switched species. Kyle and Y/N are now monsters, Ena is now a human, and Tsukino and Navirou are now Wyverians. Kyle is a Zinogre and Y/N is an Alatreon. And now the gang has to act like different people which leads to a lot of trial and error as Kyle fails to even walk properly. A while of pain later and now they can finally blend in. And then chaos ensues as a Diablos attacks. (Part 1)

Something strange occurred, causing the gang to switch the species that they are. Now they have to learn to adjust.

There was no logical explanation as to what has happened. You guys, Kyle, Ena, Navirou, Tsukino, and yourself, were just having a grand 'ol time by the fire. You all went to sleep, expecting to wake up normal the next day. But something...strange...occurred throughout the night, leading to where we are now.

"I'M HIDEOUS!" Navirou's voice, still as shrill as ever, exclaimed throughout the whole forest.

"I...I take that as an insult." Ena said softly, still in a whole lot of shock (even though she's the one who changed the least).

"Let's all remain calm, okay?" Tsukino's voice came out shakily. The whole gang seemed to be in shambles, especially when the sounds of two monsters seemed very close.

Normally, everyone would be freaking out, but there's been enough of that so far. Plus, the monsters' behavior gave everything away.

"Y/N?!" "Kyle?!"

A Zinogre fumbled around on its feet like it just hatched, and an Alatreon was the same way. It was obvious to your companions that these two monsters were you and Kyle; the bewildered looks and odd behavior gave that away. And when they caught eyes on their companions, they were even more alarmed.

It seems that Ena has become a human, five fingers, rounded ears, and plantigrade feet.

But what was even weirder was that your felyne companions have turned into wyverians. Tsukino seemed more chill about the whole thing than Navirou, but you can tell that her lack of tail and fur was putting her on edge. And since the two felyne-now wyverians-were so out of it, it left Ena in charge since neither you nor Kyle could speak.

"How are we going to fix this?" Ena asked, feeling rather uncomfortable in her skin, which now felt more fragile.

"We need to figure out what caused it if we're going to fix it-Kyle, stop whining-so let's travel around." Tsukino put her two cents in, scolding her hunter now turned monster as he began to flop on the ground and whine akin to a dog.

"Y/N? Buddy? You okay in there?" Navirou waddled around on his new feet as he practically collapsed on your snout. You snorted in response, causing an explosion which sent you and Navirou backwards.

"There's no way we are going to blend in." Tsukino said as she witnessed what just happened. Not only that, but Kyle couldn't even stand on four feet.

"Let's take some time to get used to ourselves." Ena said and Tsukino nodded as both you and Navirou recovered. He began to lecture you as you shook your head in dismay.

This was going to take a while.

You and Kyle were the ones who needed the most help. At least Ena, Navirou, and Tsukino were still on their own two feet. They just needed a quick identity change. You and Kyle practically had to learn to walk all over again. So, the three of them divvied up when it came to helping you both. Tsukino worked with Kyle, and Ena and Navirou worked with you.

"C'mon Kyle, just pretend you're in diapers again. It's just like crawling." Tsukino teased her hunter, immediately finding more joy in the situation.

The Zinogre just growled at her.

"Y/N, you can do it buddy! You're the legendary rider!" Navirou encouraged you along with Ena.

"Yes, just take it slow." She said, hands held over her heart.

As an elder dragon, you definitely had more to learn. Not only how to walk on all fours, but you had a pair of wings as well. However, the three of you decided not to mess with that for now. What's important is that you and Kyle are able to walk normally.

Perhaps you guys could pass as monsties and the three of them would be your riders.

It was a gruesome five hours, but you guys finally made some progress. Ena and Navirou were perched on your back, the said felyne-wyverian being mesmerized by his four fingers. Ena couldn't stop fidgeting now and then. Tsukino was on Kyle's back, who still stumbled on his four feet now and again.

"Tsukino, are you sure we should go to Lulucion?" Ena asked, extremely worried.

"If we explain things, it'll be fine." She responded, hoping that the Scriviners would have some answers.

"But what if Y/N and Kyle get attacked?" The human-wyverian said and Tsukino winced. She didn't know how to respond to that. Right now, you and Kyle didn't even know how to use your extraordinary powers.

But your new forms allowed you guys to cross the large desert at ease. Of course, with this sudden change of species, everyone forgot about supplies. You were doing the best out of all of them as an elder dragon, while Kyle was dragging his feet in the back. The heat was nearly unbearable.

"Things can't get much worse..." Navriou sighed as he practically melted on your back.

Just as he said that, the ground gave an ominous shake, causing everyone to stop.

"What was-Ah!" Ena shrieked as the ground became puddy under your feet. Kyle was able to hop out of harm's way as you struggled to get out of the sand pit that was suddenly made, Ena and Navirou moving to perch on your head.

"Where's our foe?" Tsukino growled, still ready for a fight. However, Kyle sensed the monster before she did and roared in the direction of another sand pit. Low and behold, the giant flying wyvern leapt from the desert.

"A Diablos!" Ena shouted.

It hissed, facing Kyle as you were stuck. The newly transformed Zinogre would have to fight this monster on his own.

Will he be able to win?

Hnnngh I still wanna Blorbo talk about Aevia (also really funny I'm putting this much effort into a pseudo-OC for a Pokemon Fan-game while my actual ocs just vibing in the void)

Anyways, Spoiler Warning once more, this time I wanna talk more about Aevia's relationships with Venam and Melia and how they develop differently from canon, since those 2 are probably the most major difference in my version of Aevia compared to the canon MC, due to Aevia having feelings for both of them in this version of her.

I'm gonna just do Venam for right now, to avoid having a super long post again (Spoiler, it was super long regardless)

-both her and Aevia start to have extremely minor crushes right around the end of Chapter 3, since they've gotten to known each other better since Chapter 1 (basically I'm inferring that Aevia was staying with Venam during that short time skip after the Manor events, since the MC starts in Venam's room after that. And likely they were just becoming better friends during that time skip). Nothing major, and neither really realize it anyways (and they'd both refuse to acknowledge it if they did anyways, since Melia's "death" is still somewhat recent)

-Really, the sections during Tarajuma aren't terribly different all things considered. Both are too occupied with the multiple hostage situations, trauma from mean ice lady, Melia and soon after Aelita getting Down With the Sickness, and the entire Valor mountain situation to dwell on those feelings much at all, and besides that's also when Venam reunited with Melia. They do get closer of course, but their actual feelings for one another don't really develop much.

-Chapter 9 is where the two start to have a little more than crushes. Both Venam and Aevia are rather oblivious to each other's feelings, and only Aevia starts to realize she actually has any feelings. Aevia does also feel guilty for having those feelings, since by that time she also has noticed Venam and Melia likely feel more then just friends by that point. However this is also the point Aevia really feels comfortable around Venam (her teasing her for being worried for example), and not hesitating at all to take Venam's side (mostly relevant for Kanon instigating a fight with Venam and her first thought being to fight on Venam's side rather then think "hey maybe we shouldn't have a fight in a diner")

-Chapters 10 and 11 also not terribly different. Though I have some minor things that aren't specific to the two's relationships to address things that only happen in game due to the devs not wanting to take too much control from the players. (Basically the first time in Grand Dream City, the whole group explores and gets used to the city together for example). Only significant differences being Venam starts to somewhat notice her own feelings, somewhat. Aevia much like Kanon never having experienced the under water section of the train to GDC would probably just be in awe, and well... Venam might just notice that while they're still sitting together. Also of course, Aevia later on being devastated with Venam being turned to stone. She doesn't have as visceral a reaction as Melia does, but the whole situation just really hits her hard.

-End of Chapter 14 and during Chapter 15. Venam's left with her thoughts for a whole 3 months while being stoned to hell. I'd say during this very long period of thinking, among the many other things she thinks of and goes through, she'd probably finally realize she also has feelings for Aevia as well as Melia. She'd elect to just... Not bring it up ever like she does with Melia. Regardless she still goes through her whole thing regarding her own strength and worth like she does normally. During the month of training Aevia notices something is up with her, and tries to talk to her and try and cheer her up. It helps a little but as in canon it takes until her pep talk from Melia and Ren to actually get herself together a bit.

-Obviously I don't know what will or could happen post Chapter 15. I do feel that Aevia and Venam would end up together before Melia would with the two, but only mostly because both Venam and Melia just have the mindset of "Don't bring up the romantic feelings at all", which would mean Aevia would be the one who brings it up to Venam. And as I'll get to whenever I make Melia's version of this post, Aevia's feelings for Melia are all over the place considering how much time the two spend trying not to get killed by Team Xen or something else, and the two's time together in more casual settings end up being rarer and briefer compared to Aevia with Venam.

So, I finished Splatoon 3 Side Order. I did EVERYTHING possible on it. I collected all the color chips, I completed all the palettes, I bought all the things I could get from there and... I feel less than satisfied? That doesn't sound right, I was looking forward to it! Why do I feel this way?

So, in this post, I'm going to try and articulate my grey-and-gray feelings about a DLC about grayscaling and color into a silly little blog post online and see if I'm not alone in feeling that way.

You've already read the teal deer by the way, I'm not putting one under the read more. Oh, and major spoiler warning about literally everything in Side Order. I'd recommend having cleared at least one successful run before you even THINK about reading on.

So, let's get the good bits out of the way first, the story? Sure, it's very bare on the surface but the buildup to Marina Agitando and, subsequently, Order itself in about four runs (one successful tutorial run, two failed runs, one successful normal run) was great. The characters, as usual, were great, it was nice to see Acht in the flesh and it was nice to catch up with Pearl and Marina, the only lesbian couple in Splatoon and I say this in the most affectionate manner possible because I find it hilarious how Nintendo decided to just lean into it.

The memes aren't lying, this really is a DLC about a lesbian couple in an elevator hanging out with their mute possibly-enby friend who had a tussle with Agent 3 once upon a time and an enby DJ who chills in the elevator because they had an injury in the matrix.

The stakes aren't quite as high as, say, the annhilation of all inkfish kind like Octo Expansion and Rise of the Mammalians, the stakes here are that Order wants to grayscale everything and force everyone to live in a world where nothing changes because they feel like that's what everyone wants. At least, that's what Marina initially wanted until pesky Eight and Pearl came along and RUINED IT.

On the surface, the gameplay seems cool too. You pick out a color chip per floor that augments your weapon and you really can make the most batshit insane builds you can think of. Want a splattershot that pours out ink at insane speeds like an aerospray with none of the downsides? With the right chips, you can! Want to make a Grizzco Blaster but better in every single way? There's chips for that too. Want to pretend to be a TF2 bot and snipe everything out of existence? There's chips for your Charger that will absolutely let you do that.

The music is, as it should be, pretty great, even if the DLC as a whole is half-baked and flat in some places (we'll get to that in a bit, I'm not done praising the DLC yet), ranging from the music that plays on each floor to the boss themes to the final boss itself, it's so good!

So why do I feel empty inside? Is it because of the roguelite gameplay? No, I've had plenty of fun with roguelites and roguelikes, I literally have fun playing Gunfire Reborn and hell, I even give Baldi's Basics Plus a fair shake and that game's not even done yet! Go Mecha Ball is fun, Whisker Squadron Survivor is also fun (although right now it feels awful with the elite bosses...), RoboQuest, Barony, hell if you want to stretch, there's Lethal Company. Sure, I don't have as much patience for the genre as I used to these days but that doesn't mean they don't bring me joy. So what is it?

Well... for starters, while the story mode is great, clearing it fairly quickly made it all feel jarring. Again, I wasn't expecting it to be as grand as Octo Expansion but it definitely felt way less impactful. You get to the top and face off against Order who tries everything to resist your attempts to stop it only to then pull out a trap card and start pulling everyone into the Memverse, then your vibe wakes you, Pearl, Marina, and Acht back up and you collect the saturated color chips that it was holding captive and blast it with, you guessed it, a Killer Wail but with COLORS. And then it turns into a small widdle octopus thing and it starts having a widdle tantwum and you go to the real world and that's it.

All the build-up for the climax of the story happens in that one floor and is immediately let go. Okay, fine, I'll take dealing with Smollusk for the next dozen attempts up the tower, especially since it seems like it's developing a personality everytime you go up there going from a stuck-up order fanatic to someone who just wants to have fun... but nothing ever changes.

For every unique palette up to and including Eight's, which has the gimmick of restricting chip slots based on how many hacks you have active, you only get some new dialogue after floor 29 and a new cutscene before the exact same boss, no new patterns and only one new song. Nothing changes about Overlorder besides the subtitle and it dies the exact same way, breaking the portals to break its barrier to then break it down, do this two more times and you win. There's no variance to this.

Speaking of variety, it starts to set in VERY quickly that there isn't as much variety as you'd actually think. Okay, well, it's fine having a roguelite with setpiece levels, Go Mecha Ball, for instance, tends to have the samey feel to the levels but it felt fun to woosh through. But here? You go in, do the objective, get out. The length of time you spend in there is heavily dependent on your weapon, chip loadout, and enemy spawns. Level layouts are varied for the first few runs, everything is new and fresh but quickly wear out after a while, having only two or three variants for each (and there's some that I'm sure only have the one!).

And the objectives are straightforward but it feels like they don't do too much to spice it up. There's a few levels where they actually try to do it such as the one portal level where you can stand back, splat the top spinners that come your way, and then yeeting it at the portals to break them, or the infinity-ball level where you yeet it into a ramp and hope you get a hole in one or another infinity-ball level where you literally are Sisyphus! Or a Splat Zones one where you have a Sisyphusean task of painting the other zone because the sprinkling enemies made it over and just took over said zone and now you splatted them and now there's more back on the other side and ARGH.

However, it does make the more generic levels feel more... well... generic. The only saving grace is that they usually are built around not being around for too long but it does make a run blur together after a while.

And on top of variety, wanna talk about how there's only three unique bosses? Outside of Marina Agitando, who only appears in the ten floor tutorial, and Overlorder? Sure, they're all unique in their own ways and certainly something I haven't exactly seen in either S1/S2/S3 campaigns and OE, Parallel Canon is the most interesting one since they draw from your pallette and can screw you over with your own build if you let them.

But there's only three bosses and you only fight two plus Overlorder per run. I would've liked to see at least a few more, hell, get Octostomp in here, everybody loves Octostomp, right?

Okay, finally, how about the rewards? Well, you get gear to wear, that's great, you get weapon replicas (Order Brella makes me upset because Side Order Brella has Sprinkler/Ink Storm and the replica carries Sprinkler/Triple Inkstrike), you get locker decorations, you get stickers and banners and badges, oh my. Very good! I like this, I like having more options to express myself and I like more weapons because that's one more weapon I can use to farm for silver Sheldon Tickets (I know they're Weapon Licenses but whatever...).

So, surely there's something really cool for the completionists out there? Surely there's something on the same level as Inner Agent 3, perhaps the most hype (and only) superboss in the Splatoon serie? Surely there's something cool for clearing all the palettes, including Eight's? Is there anything for doing that?

You get... one more piece of altered dialogue with Smollusk and an Octoshot.

That's it. That's all you get.

For suffering through nine weapons worth of palettes and then agonizing over one more that boasts a tougher restriction of chip slots being restricted based on your number of active hacks, that is what you get? No superboss, no change in the final boss, nothing, just the same routine like you've been doing the past eight palettes...

I'm sorry but am I wrong for expecting something more? Am I wrong for expecting something really cool? Am I wrong for expecting Side Order to deliver a satisfying finale after having effectively hamstringing the quality of the seasonal updates for a good portion of Splatoon 3's active service life?

Okay... maybe something will unlock after I buy everything from Cypher right? Right?

Nope.

Sheldrone 2.0.

Literally fucking Sheldrone but you use 100 Prlz instead of 999 Power Eggs. And it pulls from a prize pool made up of, I'd wager, tickets, coins, and items from the shop since you could only buy one of each from it.

And the Chip Collection grants you more badges, cool. But there's nothing for reaching 100%, there's no grand fight with another Agent 3, there's no alterations, no extra modes, no dialogue acknowledging your feat, nothing.

It's depressing. It's upsetting spending a year and some change waiting for a DLC and being wowed by it within the first few hours only to peel it back and find that the shiny silver that adorns it is more or less tin foil with a few traces of actual silver here and there.

I want to like this DLC, I really do. But I can't bring myself to fully commit to liking it...

The whole DLC feels half-baked and it's depressing to see it like this. Once the hype simmers down, all that you're left with is an empty room with a bunch of confetti that you now have to clean up.

However, there are silver linings to this DLC, the characters, as I've said, were great and while they have less proper interactions that I would've liked, it's nice to catch up with Off the Hook again, it's nice learning a tiny bit about Acht's past life and it's nice to see Marina's efforts to fixing the sanitized Octolings left in the Deep Sea Metro.

The music, as it does, is full of bangers from start to finish. The Acid Hues and Ebb and Flow mixes were, of course, amazing and the finale to the story felt great.

The setting was also pretty interesting, albeit underutilized. And the reward of being able to go to Inkopolis Square, thereby finishing the trifecta of hub worlds, and seeing how it changed from Splatoon 2 was a sight to behold!

Again, Side Order is not a perfect DLC, it's just an okay DLC that has a lot to be desired. People can have fun with it but I'm not going to ignore the glaring flaws because I felt like it could do SO MUCH better.

I'm doing this funny little thing I do, and used to do to a much greater extent. My tummy is a little bit upsetti tonight but not a lot, something I'd consider normal even. But sometimes I'm susceptible to thinking about worst case scenarios. In this case I don't even know what that is. I know I can't be sick. It's almost impossible that it's food poisoning. So I don't know what I'm afraid of. Feeling bad I guess? Also I'm worried this headspace will carry over to tomorrow when it will really matter since I'm getting my groceries. I told myself I have to go no matter what and thats what I intend to do. I know there is nothing to be afraid of. My "fears" are always unrealistic and obscure. Tomorrow I intent to keep that in mind when I gotta go to town. It's only a 3.5 hour trip, not actually a long time. As shown last time, I can easily go that amount of time without having to use the bathroom which is something I'm nervous about. Only because I really don't want to use a public restroom unless its just to pee maybe.

I know tomorrow I'll be okay. My brain tricks me into thinking that suffering will last forever or will always get worse. I need to remember that I'm being lied to.

Today was okay, I was worried I wouldn't stay on task like the past couple of days but planning exactly what I was going to do in the morning paid off. Breakfast was a bologna sandwich with baked beans. I also woke up to a pretty decent scan of my room that rendered overnight so that's good, still tidying it up though. The stream went okay, I got pretty frustrated at both the YCH I had to do and my friend who is always correcting me on basically everything. It's something I've noticed for awhile and today it was bothering me. We watched the final episode of Courage which made me tear up more than I thought it would.

After stream I did a very good job cleaning. I put away my clothes, wiped down my entire kitchen area, and vacuumed. Right after I did my whole workout very diligently. Lunch was a bowl of tuna spaghetti while I watched the Fionna and Cake finale. The show in general blew my mind and gave so much grand lore that I wanted. It also left a lot open in a way that is obviously set up to explore later.

I admit I didn't do all my afternoon work but I didn't feel the need to. I did some good sketching and my friend wanted me to play Roblox with him which I also wanted to do since I knew he wouldn't be playing long. So we did that for a little bit before I left the call and was just chilling. My tummy started behaving weird around this point. I was basically waiting for Daisy to be free because I wanted to chill before VR and play my new game Tiny Atolls. She alerted me when she got in VR and then we had a nice little night of hopping places. It seems like neither of us knew what we wanted to do at first. We tried a couple Halloween mazes which were meh and tried joined off some people. My tummy hurt and I didn't quite feel the socializing mood but it got better. At around the time we were in the Namco museum I started to get in the right mood and had a lot of fun. At some point 570 joined and we hopped a couple places before getting off for the night. Daisy watched me play my new game as she went to sleep and it was cozy.

I'm not feeling so nervous about tomorrow anymore since I feel better now. I also know this can't keep being a problem, it just can't be. I have to get over it eventually to the point where it won't even be a second thought. So I'm trying not to get into a weird headspace where I overthink. Tomorrow I'm gonna wake up and shower like usual before doing a chore not much harder than any other. It has it's own benefits too like how interesting it is to see other people for once and I get nice things like a coke icee and fast food. Last time went smoothly so that gives me my hope for tomorrow. I also always have Daisy I can text if things get iffy. I'm not trapped.

I really want to get better about knowing what I want to do. I don't want to be boring, I want to be able to be the entertaining one if I have to be. The one that can find something to do when there are no other ideas. I think I usually know the kinds of things I want to do but I instinctively dismiss them.

But really, how can you get it so wrong when it has been so simple? This last season GAVE us Villanelle wanting to be good (for Eve, for to be loved), wanting to stop killing, actively getting away from the Twelve nonsense. It also GAVE us Eve embracing her darkness, not giving a fuck about anything and being on this suicide mission not caring if she died. It also gave us Eve saying in the second to last episode "I survived but for what?". She had already kind of completed the mission and Villanelle was not there to distract her. She had every chance to go back to "normal", - hell, to be carefree and happy with Yusuf even - (who clearly cared about Eve a lot) but she didn't want that, because that didn't feel like ANYTHING. Eve CHOSE to continue with the killing spree, she chose to be with Villanelle and for the first time in the whole series we saw both Eve and Villanelle truly happy together. It was like all of the pieces finally had clicked. They accepted that they have hurt each other and forgave each other. It was so so beautiful to witness their happiness when they finally were with the person who "loves you and understands your very soul". There was so much freedom and acceptance in that they can truly be who they are, all the bad and the good, and be loved. They had everything they both have been craving all along. Both the excitement and danger and the domesticity and "normalcy".

And then, what? We're supposed to suddenly believe that when Eve was dancing with the strangers she was like "oh wait, here is where I'm happy, this is what I want" and V killing just because that's all she's made of? We're supposed to see, that after everything the end take is just "they realize they are different and want different things"? That is so unbelievably stupid that I can't even.

When Eve was dancing, she was happy and free because of Villanelle. Villanelle had the strength to kill the 12 because for the first time in her life she had something to fight for, her future with Eve. I don't understand how delusional or homophobic you have to be to not get that. It was written from the very start, you can't just chance the course and fuck up the meaning of the show in the very last minute.

That's exactly what she did though. She fucked up the meaning of the show in the last minute. I have seen numerous posts that basically say "if you had asked me what Killing Eve was like before 4x08 I would've told you one answer, but after 4x08, I would give you a completely different response". Because the show and these characters have almost become unrecognizable to us. Jodie and Sandra are absolute powerhouses who saved this season. They did, because without them I wouldn't have even bothered finishing the series. That's what just makes this all the more heartbreaking though. This is was the grand finale. The last chance to write as much quality content for Villaneve as possible. And instead of honoring their story and their journey, Laura decided to create one of her own making. Instead of ensuring that they ended up in the same room together, she ensured that they were torn apart in the most vile and cruel of ways I can ever recall bearing witness to.

Now that is just really sad, that people would go and try to invalidate actual victims of stalking and assault just so they can not feel bad for liking a ship that literally glorifies those very things.

So what if some manga author decided to take something that literally traumatizes people and ruins their real lives, and then used it in his manga for a comedy bit, and made all the characters praise the perpetrator and bash the victim, and then made the perpetrator and the victim end up in an exceedingly toxic relationship where the selfish, criminal perp finally gets what she wants?

Does it matter that the author's intent was that the actions were supposed to be seen as funny?

No! Because what he did was wrong, to try to normalize and promote such toxic, unhealthy, downright wicked behavior, to desensitize people to the point where they don't even see that her behavior is wrong and to the point where they laugh at it and to the point where they demonize the people who speak out against it.

Now, I will say this, carefully though—it's a difficult subject to articulate. I think it's ok for these people to use the "it's just comedy" reasoning to explain to themselves why it's ok to laugh if they know that the thing being portrayed as comedy would be very wrong in real life, because yes, in the end, I doubt that most supporters of juvia and her ship look at stalking and think it's just dandy (though some actually do), and I doubt Mashima really meant to make juvia's behavior in his manga as a statement piece expounding on the virtues of stalking and abusive behavior.

(That doesn't change the fact that he ends up doing so, which is undeniably wrong, but my point is that it's understandable if people see it and acknowledge it as wrong, and yet overlook it thanks to the "cute, comedic, and fluffy" setting of the manga and its art style and a "cute" girl doing it so they can enjoy it as a whole. I don't excuse the people who just don't see what juvia does is wrong though; they warrant criticism).

However.

Where they cross the line is when they try to use that honestly pretty faulty reasoning as an argument and weaponize it against victims who are triggered by juvia's disgusting behavior, which is basically worse than victim blaming because they are literally saying yes, you were a victim, and yet no, your experience doesn't matter. These are the people who don't acknowledge juvia's behavior as disgusting and evil.

I've sort of touched on this before, but I am chill with letting people like juvia and gr///via. I'm not out here on a quest to eradicate all Pro gr///vians and juvia fans, which is impossible anyway. They have the right to their opinion, and I have the right to mine. I don't understand them and could never agree with them, but for the most part, they're minding their own business, and I'm minding mine. That's why I block the gr///via and juvia tags and avoid their posts and tag mine correctly.

I may hate gr///via and juvia and the content made in support of it, but I don't hate the Pros; it's just a ship after all, and in the grand scheme of things, it's not the best hill to die on. I especially am fine with those Pros who acknowledge that juvia is far from perfect, and that the ship is too, and yet they just ignore certain things to enjoy it, and that's only fair.

The only people I have a problem with are the ones who are vocally putting Antis down by bashing us for merely existing or tearing down victims of abuse just so they can keep themselves in forced ignorance that juvia is perfect and anyone who opposes her sucks, people like the ones you mentioned, Anon.

Personally, thankfully, I haven't seen that defense used yet. I have no doubt people have though since you've seen it yourself, Anon. I'll mention a defense that's sort of similar though that's been directed against me.

There was a Pro in my comment section of this post for some reason (fun fact: I just went back to check what they said, and guess what? Every comment of theirs is deleted~ Wonder why~) who commented for hours, (that post had over 200 notes before they deleted all their comments) and accused me of "speaking for all stalking victims" when in that post and in no post before or after it did I ever claim to be doing that, nor did I ever claim that I knew a stalking victim before they even spoke.

(Tbh maybe they thought me reblogging a post by @autumnleavescoffeedreams, where they mention that they had a boyfriend who was the male version of juvia and how that terrible experience of him stalking them made them dislike gr///via, and me saying I loved that post and agreed with it completely was proving that I had a friend who was stalked?? Though we’re not even friends, I only reblogged their post. Idk anymore.)

Anyway, they basically said "How dare you try to speak for all stalking victims! You know nothing about it so shut up! I am a stalking victim though, and I say that juvia and gr///via doesn't bother me so there! That proves that juvia's behavior has no effects on stalking victims." The absolute hypocrisy and general idiocy of that statement still sticks with me this day. This was my response in the comments, and I stand by them:

"I never said I spoke for all victims of stalking. And don’t you dare invalidate my friend’s experience w stalking. And since when did you have to personally be stalked to be able to call it like you see it? Oh this person got r*ped in an anime, but nooo I can’t make a post calling it out or saying it’s bad because I haven’t been raped myself??? That’s completely baloney, and an argument I’ve seen used to no avail many a time."

(I mentioned 'my friend' in my responses, not because I had in fact mentioned them before— I even checked all my posts to find what they were talking about and couldn't find it— but because I do have a Tumblr friend/acquaintance that's been stalked and traumatized. I assumed falsely at the time that this random person knew about them somehow, but in reality, they had no way of knowing that.)

Yes, I sound quite heated in my response to that commentor, but I was quite angry at these awful accusations and ridiculous arguments. I would never invalidate this person's experience as a stalking victim, but the fact that they tried to use it as a weapon to put me down for speaking against stalking is just insane and mean-spirited.

Anyway, that was related to the thing you brought up because instead of people who haven't been stalked invalidating stalking victims, this person used their own victim status to invalidate other stalking victims, which might be even worse. All in all, I want victims of abuses no matter what kind to have a voice and be able to speak about how certain things in media like juvia and her tendencies affect them and to be listened to and affirmed, but to do so without making blanket statements like "I was stalked, and I feel fine, so every other victim should just suck it up".

after that everything ran smoothly up to your birth. luda and thomas helped with the birth, it was a rough one since y’all basically lived in the middle of nowhere so it had to be performed at home. luda was very professional and told thomas everything he needed to help out with.

EN GARDE FOR A TROUSLE WITH THE GREAT PAPYRUS!!!

That's right folks, the results are in and The Great and Grand Papyrus was chosen as the next design to be shown off for Flipflopped's Cast!!! Isn't he a dream boat???

Since Papyrus here swaps with Undyne (Incase that wasn't obvious before), Papyrus is now the majestic and handsome leader of the Royal Guard and is a symbol of hope for the monsters that one day the final seventh human will fall down to the underground and face and uncertain demise when trousling with someone as prestigious as the Great Papyrus, The Temmie Brigade, the Four Royal Guards, and the King's Mercenaries... and Undyne and Alphys too, I guess.

Papyrus is a kind and goofy skeleton with a heart of gold but unlike Classic Papyrus, Flipflopped Papyrus is far more agressive and tricky in combat. Focusing on sending out complex attacks that test your wits, your mind, your ability to hit the "up" key to jump which is not hard at all, and your memorizing skills. Papyrus here likes to switch between the Red and Blue Soul modes making the Human have to pay attention to what kind of Bone attacks do what in whatever soul mode you're in, he also likes to send out multiple type of attacks at once (Of course Papyrus made sure that it is 100% Humanly dodgeable so it's a fair fight.) But Papyrus does want you to stay on your toes and expect the unexpected.

For this very occasion, Papyrus wields a giant bone mallet that he can use to slam it into the battle box and cause your soul to instantly fall to the bottom of the box or Papyrus can swing the hammer to the sides causing it to rocket to the left or right side of the screen or even have the box bounce off the walls like one of the DVD Player Logo bouncing screens. Not to mention the fact he sends out both normal white attacks, as well as Blue attacks. Of course, Papyrus makes sure to slowly ease the human into knowing these different things. There is no class at all in sending all these things at the opponent without giving them a proper tutorial. His fighting style can basically be described as "Classic Papyrus, but it's on Hard mode now. Like the whole time. (TM)"

Papyrus does have Undyne's very... violent and "over the top" personality traits, but Papyrus is still a very kind goober who doesn't actually wish to kill a human and deliver them to King Napstablook. Papyrus feels like that isn't fair to the human (Frisk) to just fall in and get beaten up for when they never did anything wrong, atleast in more passive routes. Papyrus would much rather be friends with a human but is forced to fight due to his status of Captain of the Royal guard. He's too much of a nice guy to be in such a rough and tumble job. But it was always Papyrus's dream to be very popular amongst the other monsters with his captain status, but he also respects the drive the king had about freeing monsters from their prison, of course Papyrus has Undyne's violent tendencies like instead of using the door to enter his house, he jumps through the window instead and asks his brothers or Undyne to rate the landing.

Papyrus lives in Waterfall with his older brother, Sans, and his babybones brother, Gaster. The three, like actual siblings, often get themselves into all sorts of shenanigans and can annoy eachother sometimes, like Sans, who refuses to pick up all the socks laying all over the place in his house (Which is where Undyne's house is located by the way). But regardless of the sock related squabbles, they all love eachother and stick by each other, no matter what. Lately that can't be said with Sans, who has concerned Papyrus immensely with him suddenly staying at his lab in Hotland for days on end without ever leaving. Papyrus wishes Sans could tell him what's eating at him, but like several other things, Sans won't tell Papyrus his little secret.

But regardless, Papyrus is a total goober with a heart of gold. Such a cool dude, right?

Hi. This is really not a question but more of a rant. A really really long one. I apologize in advance. I honestly care waaaaayyyy too much about this show than I should. Clearly too bored🙈.

After reading people's comments on this show and the ships, there are so many things that irk me and I thought I'd share even if I might get crap for it. So here goes:

1. "Ben only wants Devi when she is with Paxton." I.e. it's about Paxton. Lol people are funny. As though Ben thinks he can compete with Paxton on a social level. He's not stupid, he knows full well he can't. It's about Devi and in part her obsession with Paxton. People don't like thinking about things from Ben's perspective because they just don't like him. He's the one that finds out Devi is cheating, she runs after Paxton at the party ( now granted before she runs out, she's intensely staring at Ben and then realises Paxton is leaving but Ben's not gonna remember that) and she was busy chumming it up with Paxton in episode 3 in front of Ben with absolute disregard for him. So his natural defence is to guard himself and have his walls go up. It is a valid response. He burries his pain (exactly what Samberg said). And does not let his guard down around her romantically until episode 10 when Paxton literally rejects her at school. At the school dance, sparks are flying between those 2. Is Paxton around at the time...Uhm no (I'll get into the whole Aneesa thing). In his mind Paxton is out of the picture and it's like he can almost trust her again. And then when Paxton shows up with Devi, he basically feels like a fool for ever thinking that he was ever something more than 2nd best or sometimes anything at all ( especially considering Devi still wants Paxton after Devi and Paxton's last public interaction that Ben witnessed- I mean he does not get to see the shit behind closed doors). But then when Eleanor spills the tea, that look on his face is disbelief, yes a little bit of jealousy but overwhelmingly heartbreak. He is essentially watching the chance he never knew he had go away. Now you could argue that he should have known that she wanted him back but she broke his trust and does not explicitly say, " I want you back". Ben's not trying to get burnt again based on some assumption/hunch. He has been wrong before.

2. "How dare Ben be upset that Devi is with Paxton when he is with Aneesa". Fair point. Just like how dare Devi be upset and lose her shit over Ben and Aneesa. But yet it still happend. Devi gets 5 episodes allowing her to be upset and Ben can't even have one moment when a firkken bomb gets dropped on him.

Aneesa and Ben should have never date. Everyone knows that. He was never over Devi. He just pushed those feelings down to make him believe he was over her. I obviously don't agree with this. Aneesa doesn't deserve that. Ben needs to go to therapy. He needs an outlet. He is similar to Devi in that he doesn't want to process what happened and would rather move on and react. However, his reactions are far less impulsive/severe as Devi's. Him dating Aneesa is unfortunately a reaction. He didn't give himself time to really process how he feels. People say he dated Aneesa solely to spite Devi which is not true. Is there an element of " you never wanted me but someone else does"... absolutely but Aneesa is also very kind to Ben, they get along really well and she puts him first. Technically what's not to like. I mean if it was just to spite Devi, could he have not tried to hustle his way back in with Shira?? Problem is that dumb dumb didn't work through his Devi feelings and let's just be honest, the same spark and chemistry he has with Devi, is missing with Aneesa. It often feels forced, especially in regards to the pace of the relationship. I so wished Aneesa remained friends with Ben. That's what he needed...not another relationship.

3. "Aneesa is so amazing, she doesn't deserve to get hurt." I agree. She absolutely doesn't deserve to get hurt just like Ben and Paxton didn't deserve that crap Devi pulled. I think Aneesa is a great addition and I like that Devi has someone within her community to connect to. I'm South Asian myself and I genuinely value this aspect of my own life. I mean she is pretty great, kind and the anorexia rumour Devi unintentionally started was pretty heartbreaking. That scene where she talks to Devi at the relay about it, is so sad (especially coz we as viewers know Devi messed up). Now that being said is Aneesa also low key shady? YES. And it's not because she dated her friend's ex. It's because she started dating him knowing that Devi started the rumour about her because she was jealous about Ben and her. How does she think Devi would go from being so jealous that she starts a rumour, to the next week becoming their biggest "Stan". Come on girl. But there was no way Devi could say no after the crap she pulled with Aneesa. Ben did ask her out so if there is blame, he absolutely gets it too but he didn't know why Devi started that rumour (based on his surprised AF face when Eleanor spills the tea). Which leads me to my next question. Why didn't Aneesa tell him? Aneesa said Ben was supporting her through the rumour. She probably told him Devi started the rumour but didn't tell him why? That is odd? Clearly if Ben had known, he may changed his perspective on Devi actually wanting him instead of ignoring his feelings.

Lastly Aneesa knows there are unresolved feelings between Devi and Ben. This is evident from that dance scene. She literally runs to cut in their pretty intense conversation. Like why you running girl? I didn't think much of it at first but coupled with another moment, it makes a lot of sense. When Ben agrees to dance with Aneesa, he looks back at Devi and lingers and Aneesa picks up on this and pulls him away. It's a blink and you will miss it moment but it is there.

Now all of this doesn't mean she needs to get hurt but they probably need to break up. Ben needs to be single for a while and work through how he feels about Devi, Aneesa and most importantly himself. Whilst I don't particularly enjoy their relationship, you never get to see it from either of their perspectives. Maybe that could change things but honestly I just prefer Ben and Devi.

Also can everyone stop acting like Ben is dating Devi's best friend. Being brown doesn't make you automatically best friends and Ben and Devi met Aneesa the same week. People are acting like he is dating Eleanor.

4. "Devi chose Paxton". Please! The only thought through decision that girl made in regards to these 2 boys is when she chose herself and decided not to be Paxton's little secret. I mean in episode 1 and 2 she can't decide so she dates both. In episode 3, she interacts with Paxton because of the whole tutoring thing. He says they don't makes sense. While she seems a bit sad she doesn't seem too upset like she is season 1 and she isn't looking for any opportunity to spend time with him (unlike season 1). Episode 4,5,6,7 and 8 she is losing her mind over Ben. Half way through 8 she knows she has no choice but to let him go. But even after that she doesn't pursue Paxton. He does that at the end of episode 9 when in all honesty she hasn't really thought about him in a while. Then of course Paxton does what he does and she finally choose herself, issuing an ultimatum essentially. Paxton does eventually show up...but it's a choice by default. She just yo-yo's between them. She also needs to be single, deal with her loss, love herself and think about what she wants.

5. "Devi loves Paxton". Sure bud. Does have Devi have feeling for Paxton? Duh! But is it love. Nope. People like to confuse infatuation for love. She has been infatuated with this boy this the 3rd (she knew squat about him). When her dad died, she turns that infatuation into an obsession. It like becomes a full time hobby in season 1. She ruins relationships over it. In season 2 you can argue there is more depth to it and Paxton does grow in Season 2. But somehow she is still fixated on the fact that it's Paxton Hall-Yoshida. I mean she smells him (totally normal), Mc Enroe's comment at the relay was, "did this hunk of beef just say he likes spending time with her", when she breaks up him she says , "you are very good at kissing" not possibly any of his other good qualities. And at the end she says , "I guess I'm Paxton Hall Yoshida's girlfriend now". This boy is so far up a pedestal that if he fell of it, he'd break something. Now granted if he fell of it in Season 1, he'd be dead. So progress I guess...

Maybe the relationship will change in Season 3 and she genuinely falls in love with him. I mean Id be sad but obviously a real possibility. But also that relationship needs to move on from being just the "Paxton project" which it was basically all of season 2. Maybe actually talk about her every once in a while.

Also people who find the ending so amazing because he shows up...bare minimum bro. I understand his perspective, how does it look to go back with someone who cheated on you. Fair point 💯. However she didn't start this shit up again. He did. He liked her so much that he had to make out with her In the middle of the night out of the blue but not enough to respect her publically. That's some BS right there. If he started it, he should have thought it through instead of guilt tripping her. But he is a teenager and ALL of them make incredibly stupid decisions (we all have). Devi messed up big time too and she apologized. The same compassion must extend to him but in no way is it a grand gesture, it's the bare minimum...like her apologies

6. "Paxton forgave Devi forgave Devi so quickly whilst Ben didn't and was so mean". He did forgive her pretty quickly. Good for him. However let's not act like circumstance didn't carve the way for that. They were pushed together because of the whole tutoring thing and he knows that they have to see each other all the time. So logically just makes sense to keep the peace. But still mature oh his part. Also he wasn't as emotionally invested as Ben. Did he have feelings? Yes. However, based on his inner monologue (Gigi Hadid) his ego took more of a hit because how could Devi, the "weirdest girl" he ever liked two time him with Ben Gross. Did his feelings deepen by the end? Yes. But at the start...it isn't that deep.

Also it's great and all that he "forgave" her so quickly but he sure did like bringing it up a lot. Like at the relay guilting her, upset at the end of 6 because he failed...I mean wtf girl you owe me- I don't really care what else is going on in your life, again in episode 8 in the car and finally we all know the mess that is episode 10.

In regards to Ben. His anger is justified for reasons stated in point 1. In fact his reaction seems more real because he is deeply hurt by Devi. Do I like some of his reaction (i.e. nose piercing-will discuss this further) ...nope but she only sincerely apologises to him in episode 8 vs 3 for Paxton. He accepts it. People acting like they would be so calm and chill about being cheated on. And yes he did cheat on Shira. He tries to kiss Devi at party twice but apologises that day and the following week. He doesn't try anything with Devi the whole of episode 10 until she kisses him. He acknowledges that it was wrong and immediately breaks up with Shira. Although cheating is not something we should condone can we actually acknowledge that Shira was the worst and doesn't even remember Ben's name. Compare that to Devi's premeditated cheating. Her Eleanor are literally laughing at how amazing they are for pulling it off and Devi didn't care about either of their feelings cause she was going to be India. Sorry but that is far worse. She also thinks she can bullshit her apology with Ben. He isn't here for that...which is fine! He kept trying his level best to avoid her but even that she wouldn't let him do.

7. "Ben is Horrible". Has Ben done some shitty things. Absolutely. People complain that he has never apologised for anything. Fair enough. He needs to apologize for the UN comment and the psychosomatic comment. It was incredibly hurtful. However, no one does call him out of it. Now you could argue he should just do it. Please... have you watched these particular set of teenagers? None of them apologise without being called out on it first(except maybe Fabiola). And you only get called out my your support system ... which Ben does not have. He practically looks like he raised himself. He doesn't have parents to put him back in line or a sister to call him out on his shit. Devi has her mom, cousin, grandmum , Elanor, Fabiola and her therapist. Does she ever listen to them the first time? Nope. And her first time apologies are such messes. She only gets it right the 2nd or 3rd time. All of them have some form of support but not really him. And it is heartbreaking. It's why I genuinely believe he needs to go to therapy. He needs an outlet to express everything he feels. He also needs to be held accountable for those comments and understand the root of it (ok let's be honest Devi even in their rivalry was probably the most constant person in his life, and fighting with her meant she stayed close by- it's a subconscious thing). He should apologize to her and also find better ways to communicate what he is feeling. The nose ring thing was manipulative. I agree. He should apologize. But I'm not gonna lie, it doesn't piss me off as much because I think it's pretty messed that it took that for her to realise how much she hurt him. Also tbh if you were willing to alter your body on a 2 minute thought out dare, you wanted to do it anyway. But again not a healthy way to emote on Ben's part. The David thing doesn't upset me because he knows how to pronounce her actual name. It's not like he doesn't know how and doesn't bother to try. It was part of their rivalry to irritate her. I honestly find it quite endearing as part of their friendship and think Devi does. I may be wrong and she may not like it and in that case he needs to stop and apologize.

I am not upset by him coming over to her house and calling her out about Aneesa. She deserved it. Also if she was that uncomfortable she could have taken him outside to talk like she did with Paxton. She is clearly comfortable enough to have him in the house. And her therapist agrees with Ben. If he hadn't, she wouldnt have known that Aneesa was leaving. Her mom took away her phone. And even then her first attempt at an apology was soooooo bad. And I don't think Ben did it solely to get Aneesa to stay so he could date her. This is Ben, he was willing to do long distance with Devi from India, I think he could have done the same with Aneesa from like the same town 🙄

I genuinely like Ben because he is a good kid. He makes mistakes like they all do. His personality is hilarious to watch but also his and Devi's relationship is so special. Me liking Ben and Devi has nothing to do with what Paxton has or has not done. I just like the dynamic between the two. They obviously care deeply for each other. Their conversations are hilarious. I love their banter. I love how comfortable they are with each and am sometimes surprised by the depth of their conversations. But also they have amazing chemistry. All the jealous looks and angst are between these two idiots pining for each other. I think she does have chemistry with Paxton but it's more because he is PHY, school Adonis. I mean let's be honest, he'd probably have chemistry with Fabiola solely cause he is PHY. The two nerds just match each other and it's so funny how often they are in sync. It's honestly adorable. They just get each other. That bathroom scene was the sweetest thing and also proves he's not this terrible person. She only comes out of the stall because of his support. He is genuinely hurt for her when technically it should have been a great moment for him.

I do believe the two have to be single for a bit before admitting their feelings for one another and moving forward. That's why my main thing for season 3 is that he absolutely cannot interfere in her relationship with Paxton. He needs to give her the space to figure that. Do I think there will be moments between them... absolutely but no cheating please. Everyone needs to move on from that. If they do it...I honestly think il be done with the show.

I'm not very good at mmos but I love final fantasy, do you have any tips or advice? Your character is cute!

i don't actually know much about a good chunk of the game- i'm only at early heavensward context (the second expansion) so take my advice with a tiny pinch of salt.

having said that, sure, i can try to give advice! also please note that ffxiv is my first final fantasy game, but i'm experienced with mmos, so it's like... the opposite outlook.

if you look up literally anything about ffxiv, it'll be veterans saying that the current base game (a realm reborn) is slow and largely boring. i disagree for a number of reasons, but... it certainly does drag on for awhile. as i said, i don't know how this compares to other games in the franchise, but this one is a slowburn- well worth the payoff, but still slow as hell.

a single character can play all of the classes! this means, for example, rigel (my oc-turned-player-character) can be a black mage, white mage, warrior, dark knight, ninja... basically, alts (mmo-speak for alternate characters, basically any character you create and play outside of your "main") are effectively useless, but still fun to do if you don't mind a grind.

for the sake of all that is holy, when you unlock a job quest, drop everything and do it. these almost always give new abilities that become an essential part of your toolkit, and when they don't, they're leading up to one. i don't care if you're about to do a main story quest and think you can pass by without it, just do it and save yourself the trouble later.

you get your first mount at level 20, the grand company chocobo. however, due to the stupid amount of exp early quests give you/depending on if you're in a favored server or not, you'll likely be far above that when you finally get your bird. rigel was around 27 when he got bird-riding rights. said rights are tied to the main story quests, as is everything, so make sure to do those too.

red mage is really really fun i highly recommend it

at early levels the 2.5 second gcd (global cooldown, a timer where you can't use any abilities for a period of time) will seem agonizing. it gets better. by level 50 as a black mage i felt like it was too short.

i don't know how to navigate square enix's terrible site but be warned it is certainly something that needs mental preparation before attempting. buying this game is a nightmare.

so don't! the free trial goes up to level 60 and includes the entirety of the first and second expansions (first is actually the base game but that's a whole other can of worms) and lasts indefinitely. you can be a free trial player for years and never stop. just be warned that once you buy the game you can't return to free-trial status so once ur sins are committed, they're committed for good.

love yourself. don't play a healer class. or do, if you're into masochism.

housing is a fucking NIGHTMARE i haven't touched it with a ten foot pole

you can use FATES (open-world multiplayer events, basically) to grind extra classes in a pinch. it's not much, but you can do it.

you know that starting mount i mentioned? the grand company chocobo? you can nickname it. and dress it up. and change its colors. and eventually summon it to fight alongside you as a bird pet/companion/best friend and legitimately why would you use any other mount

seriously rigel's bird is named luhmel and i cherish him SO much i spent all my gil on outfits for him birb my BELOVED

i'd honestly recommend ignoring the gold/normal sidequests after the first few levels- they usually don't offer much, and don't give much back. it's only worth doing the blue "plus" quests (which always unlock something for you/your character) and the main story quests (which. are main story, lol. they're marked with a fire symbol around the edge of the icon)

oh hey whatcha know your job quests are blue plus quests maybe that means something

if you want to take Aesthetic Screenshots™ there's a thing called group pose (aka gpose) that you can use to loop an emote and modify lighting and everything to make some really nice pictures. i haven't used it much because i unironically discovered it two hours ago but i sure will use it in the future

once/if you hit levels 50/60/70, you should start hoarding poetics/tombestones! these can be used to buy fresh new gear that not only looks stylish but also will legitimately last you for half of the next expansion. i'm not joking. these are absolutely worth the investment.

if you play lalafell you WILL be pat on the head. it's normal. let it happen.

new players are called sprouts, and are given a little sprout icon beside their name to represent that! this actually stays for a while- 168 total hours played and completion of stormblood (3rd expansion), iirc. i'm still a sprout. rigel's a little sprout boy.

once you unlock the waking sands, i highly recommend going into the side room and talking to all the npcs there! they have different/new dialogue every time the main story quests tell you to return there, and getting to know them all... well, let's just say that it'll make some parts hit harder, y'know? it pays off.

i haven't personally done them but i've heard the hildibrad sidequests are really funny i recommend those

there's a gambling cactus to gamble your life away and the parkour minigame infuriates me beyond reasonable definition

the community as a whole is super nice, and way better at giving advice on the spot than i am! for an anime game where i can play my depressed edgy angsty angel boy as a walking disaster gay catboy, it's really wholesome. not for everyone, but definitely a good time if it is your kinda thing.

the biggest soft spot for their closest friends

literally both are so wild and unpredictable sometimes, it's insane

now i know what you're thinking: you stupid idiot, ron's whole schtick is being this hyper masculine "manly man" who doesn't like weak-willed men, how could he possibly be a good father figure to poor, traumatized, "just wants to be loved", dean?

and to that i say, you fool, thats exactly why ron would be a great father-figure: ron's inherent soft side for the people he loves opens him up even if he is a "man's man" and he doesn't shy away from that vulnerability. and besides, dean may be many things, but weak-willed he most certainly is not. in ron's own words:

and oh my god! imagine the support system dean would have in ron and vice versa? like imagine dean supporting ron at his jazz shows and ron supporting dean during karaoke night? considering how he supported tom and his snake juice venture (if you know you know, and if you do, i love you), it's safe to say he'd be going to every table in his deadpan voice like, "yes, that's my son. yes, he does have the voice of an angel." (and you can take ron's statement to the bank because "a recommendation from me is essentially a guarantee.") and what about deans jokes? finally someone who'll understand and laugh at his jokes. remember deans face when donna laughed at his joke? yeah, imagine that face but all the time with him and ron. but most importantly, whenever dean needs advice, who would begrudgingly (affectionate) get out of bed and bring the good scotch and bacon burgers over for a heart to heart? exactly.

and that's not even mentioning the wood working! ron teaching dean about wood working!! he starts showing dean how to make small stuff at first and then dean starts branching off doing his own thing (he did make the ma'lak box by himself, after all). and one day he surprises ron with a rowboat he made and they take it out onto a lake to fish and in the serene peace of it all ron would tell dean how proud he is of him and mean it, and more importantly: dean would believe it.

now some of you might also be thinking: well if you want dean to have an alcoholic, manly father-figure, he already has bob- [gunshot]

no, fool! bobby may have been leagues better than j**n, but he wasn't the most gentle man in the world, either. i don't forget you belittling my sons feelings, bobby singer. but i also thank you for playing catch with him. but there's little things here and there that make bobby an unfit father-figure for someone like dean. for example: his use of traditionally effeminate words or words used to describe effeminate men and using them as insults, on multiple occasions to deans face. not exactly directed at dean, although sometimes they were.

bobby is a kind of "manly man" in a... different way than ron. arguably both would consider themselves manly, but ron would say it in a confident way, very sure of himself; bobby would say it as a reassurance (insecurity) because his masculinity was somehow called into question. and there's the big ol' elephant in the room: bobby is burdened by life. the last thing dean needs is another man burdened by life, he already had that with j**n and look what he did to him. someone with that much baggage would unload it on dean sooner or later, just like j**n did. and knowing dean, he would feel it's his responsibility to look after yet another person, and he doesn't deserve that.

ron, on the other hand, lives completely unburdened by life. he lives in a cabin in the woods with his hidden gold and his books and his scotch and his wood shop just vibing. ron loves life! and guess what? so does dean! dean was always meant to live a laid-back, easy life fishing, eating bacon, loving nature and just vibing too! he'd feel contentment with ron. easy living and much deserved peace.

plus, you're gonna sit there and tell me ron (as the director of the parks department who thinks people should be able to do whatever they want) wouldn't have some kind of pull to get dean a nice piece of land and help him build a bar! and a house!! ron would give dean stability, a chance to live a peaceful, normal life.

and he literally doesn't give a shit who you love so imagine dean showing up with cas one day to dinner? they'll shake hands, ron would comment on cas's firm grip, they wouldn't notice they both have deadpan voices and expressions and hijinks would ensue. ron would love cas! he's strong, stoic, smart, but endearing and kind and open. know ron would just look over towards the other end of the table at dean and just give him a small smile and slight nod and dean would know exactly what he means: you did good, kid.

“Y/N-” He starts but you’ve already stopped listening. he was going into a heartfelt speech about superhero things and how much you mean to him and blah blah blah. It was the same one every time, his metal body shone against the light protruding out the window. 

Normally, he would stop and expect you to respond but this time he just kept talking. “Look, you’ve been acting depressed lately, I'm guessing it’s because you have an immortal life, and I just think that you should talk to others who understand you better.” You sighed flopping onto the couch, arms facing up. He looked at you to keep talking but you interrupted him. “Alright, alright. I’ll go. So annoying.” 

Colossus shoots a bright smile at you as you give him an eye roll. “You’re an asshole.” You muttered under your breath. “Yeah, yeah. You know you love me, Y/N.” You scoff but none the less smile a little. Now, don’t get yourself wrong. You love Colossus, he’s your best friend, your family but sometimes he can be such a parent. “It starts at 7, don’t be late.”

But of course, you were late. 10 minutes, actually. You liked to be fashionably late, making your grand entrance and in this case, the depressing entrance was your thing. You opened the doors, stuffed your hands in your jean jacket pockets and sat down in one of the chairs. Looking around you saw a bunch of superheroes that ranged from avengers to neighborhood heroes. 

To your left was Luke Cage, next to him was Valkyrie, and next to her was Bruce Banner, and next to him was Wolverine, then again next to him was Captain America who seemed to be running the whole team, and next to him was some kid Patrick? Preston? Peter? Who knows. Then there was an empty seat next to the kid and you. You raised an eyebrow, wondering who was more fashionably late than you were. 

Once you sit down, Steve greets you and the others nod your way. You sigh, wanting this to be over as soon as possible. Steve talked, for the most part, occasionally another hero would jump in with a comment. 10 minutes had passed and you were already bored out of your mind. you thought it had been an hour already, you groaned looking at the time.

Steve interrupted his own self. “Look, Y/N, you clearly don’t want to be here. Honestly-” He was again interrupted by the sound of the door opening. Women with dark red hair, fierce eyes, and she had on a black suit. Looking at her face, she had some cuts and bruises, she clearly came back from a mission. You figured she was Black Widow. She was very attractive, and this very much caught your attention. 

Steve’s eyes widened, “Nat. Glad you could make it.” She sighed, taking the last seat which was next to yours. “Only doing this because you’re making me Rogers.” He scoffed and was about to argue until he realized where he was and went back to the professional Captain America. 

He continued to talk, and again only a few interjecting some of their own comments. The only two who hadn’t spoken yet was you and Natasha. Steve eyed you, wondering why you were even here if you’re going to be another silent Natasha. 

“So, Y/N. Would you like to talk about why you’re here?” You sighed, it was inevitable that he was going to ask you to speak. Why not get it over with, “Well, you know the usual. Had stage four cancer, tortured into superpowers, and now I'm immortal and you know, Cap, the impending doom of watching all of the people I care about slowly dying of age. So yes, Steve, I would love to continue to talk about the major negatives of being immortal.” 

You lightly smiled and tilted your head slightly to the side, dyed platinum blonde hair brushing against your cheeks. Natasha snorted at your passive-aggressive comment towards Steve. And if she was being honest with herself, she found you pretty attractive. 

“Okay, I get it. You don’t want to talk...yet.” Steve snickered to himself as you rolled your eyes. Natasha smirked but she continued to stay silent. Time went on, with the occasional comments from other heroes and the meeting finally ended. As you got up, wanting to leave as quickly as possible. 

You walked out into the lobby, converse periodically squeaking on the tiled floor, thinking about how Colossus would run this support group and you laughed to yourself at the superhero bullshit he would say––honestly not far off from goody goody Captain America. 

You hear the clicks of boots walk behind you, the sound getting closer each time. You watch as Natasha passes by you, she turns and her curled hair spins while it fans perfectly around her face. 

“See you next week, Y/N.”

You walked into the X-men mansion, tossing your keys onto the kitchen’s marble counter. Colossus rushed into the room asking you many questions about the support group, he was bombarding you with his Russian accent. 

“No, I didn’t like it. No, I didn’t really talk. No, the others don’t exactly get me like you thought I would.” Colossus lowered his head as every no came out of your mouth. He solemnly sighed, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have made you-” You cut him off, facing his metaled body.

“But I didn’t... hate it so I’m going next week,” Colossus shouted with glee which made you frown. He continued to celebrate as you came as frustrated as an old man. “Don’t get cocky, Smirnoff.”
