recently i got an ask on how i edit my instagram screenshots and here in gemville, all you have to do is ask and you shall receive my child

fun stuff under the cut!

this guide will be divided into two parts: how i take & edit my gameplay screenshots and how i edit my simstagram posts

before we get into the actual tutorial, here are a list of things that i use to help me take better screenies :)

gshade

i'm using an older version of gshade because - thanks to my procrastination - i never updated the version before everything went to shit.

2. presets!

i switch around between presets a lot lmao but for the most part, i use ellcrze's gshade preset for my family dynamics save, sunset n vinyl for my globetrotter save & sim download pictures and a modified boho dreams for my tjol legacy save (first post coming up soon!) sometimes i use lithium for cas pics too :p click here for a somewhat detailed explanation lol

3. tab mode camera mod

this camera mod is a godsend and makes taking screenshots soooooo much easier! 😌 i highly recommend getting this mod!!!

i think i mentioned this before in an ask - i edit my screenshots in photoshop before posting them on tumblr :D i don't really do much, just running a few actions and cropping my screenies. gshade does most of the work for me lol

this tutorial by @buglaur is insanelyyyy helpful omg i based my entire editing process on her tutorial, except for the colouring part because i'm lazy hehe

here's an example of my screenshots before and after editing (cropping the screenshot and running some actions)! there’s not much difference because as i said earlier, gshade will basically carry your entire editing process 💀

sometimes i put text in my pics like these screenies below :) i mainly use these two fonts - winkle and lemon milk :D

1. photoshop

i'm using a 🏴‍☠️ version of photoshop that i got from a somewhat sketchy website but it runs great so i'm not complaining 💀

2. instagram post template and instagram story template

3. the actual instagram app

this is how i add text and emojis to my simstagram posts lol

disclaimer: i am NOT a photoshop expert. there's probably an easier way to do what i'm about to show you, but this works for me and i don't really mind the steps hehe

first things first, you're gonna want to open the psd files on photoshop and it'll look like this, depending on which file you opened

i usually just hide the layers that i don't need so in this case i'll hide the tagged users layer from the story psd and the bg layer from the post psd.

these are the layers that i hide but you can also leave them on if you want hehe totally up to you my dude. then you'll end up with something like the pics below

now we move on to the profile pictures! so what i do is i click these layers (shown below) and go 'file > place embedded > selected picture'

once you do that, you'll end up with something like this (below)! use 'ctrl + t' to resize your picture to fit into where the profile picture would go.

right click on the layer of your selected picture and click 'create clipping mask'. then you can hit 'ctrl + d' to adjust the picture to your liking!

now for the actual pictures for the posts. click on these layers (shown below) and go 'file > place embedded > your selected picture'

now all you have to do is 'ctrl + t' to resize your pictures, right click on the layer of the selected picture and click 'create clipping mask' then 'ctrl + t' again to adjust the pics!

after this whole process, i'll export my pics to my family dynamics folder on my desktop and queue it up on tumblr! :D sometimes my simstagram story posts have text and emojis like these ones below

all i did was upload the pics to google drive, download it to my phone, add text/emoji on the actual instagram app then saving the story to my phone... a lot of work but i don't really mind <3

Ranboo runs through the mall, a camera following him through each step. Upon finding the food court, occupied by streamers, including you and Charlie, he freaked out.

He was able to get both of you out of your trance and pull you away from your desktops, and show you what you really were. How you were manipulated and being used and extorted for content by the business.

You run through the mall, looking for a way out.

You see an exit sign, and run towards it with all your strength.

"Shit!"

The door is locked, and behind it lays multiple bodies. Maybe it was best you weren't going to go through that door.

Running from that... Television Monster, it scared the hell out of you. It stood maybe seven or eight feet tall, it's feet stomping beneath it's weight.

Within a few minutes of hiding and running through staff only hallways and arming yourselves, you make it into the room. The room where the cabin was.

The cabin where... you were raised?

You and Charlie stand in front of the attic, trying to reason some way that you weren't crazy. You visited this attic to escape the world outside. Charlie visited this attic to hide from the monsters under his bed.

You look at each other, trying to find some reason, some way to make sense of this, in each other's eyes. Yours widen as you look past the !ƎIᙠOOᎮ OOᎮ, seeing the television head monster from before.

You grab his shoulders, swiftly pulling him back as you quickly step backward, shouting for Ranboo to run. Charlie accidently trips on your foot and falls on his ass, quickly being pounced on by the creature. You yelp, quickly jumping back. You freeze in the moment, being filled with adrenaline and fear.

Charlie looks to the side, seeing a button.

"Ranboo, the button!"

Ran looks back behind himself, where Charlie was pointing. He looks between the button, you, Charlie, and the guards running towards him. He shouts your name before sprinting towards the button with all the might in his long legs.

While he runs, you hide under the bed in the bedroom set. The bedroom you apparently never once laid in all those nights ago.

Somehow, you'd gone ЦПDΣ-ЦП-ЦПDΣ-ЦП- undetected, leaving you biting the inside of your cheeks as you quietly hid. The sound of the alarm and the lights flickering on and off caused you to shut your eyes tight. You listen to the monster, basically inhaling poor Charlie, who'd been unresponsive for a little while.

You count the minutes passing, one after another until you're sure the guards and the creature are gone. When you slowly climb out from under the bed, you notice there's no sign of Charlie, or Ranboo, for that matter. Maybe, hopefully he escaped.

You slowly trudge towards the other side of the area, towards the light and the elevator that you noticed. You look around for any sign of Ranboo, finding nothing. You trail up the stairs next to the elevator, deciding to maybe try to hide yourself just in case. You travel maybe five floors, how this place had more than three, especially for a mall, was surprising to you.

You stop at the last, your thighs burning after traveling up the many flights of stairs. The last, however, was n҉o҉i҉s҉y҉, and filled with screens. A large window lays on the back wall, giving you a full view.

A full view of Ranboo, chained up like the next coming of Jesus Christ on the cross. His head was stuck in some sort of cube like contraption with triangular spikes.

It was clearly made of some sort of metal, as it looked rusty as shit. He was still trapped in whatever mask he woke up in the cabin in, as he told you, this time, the wires were more messy, and a chunk had been punched out of it near the bottom left side of his chin.

He shouts, staring down a camera in front of him.

"Let me die! Just let me die! Please, just kill me!" They scream, tears welling in their eyes.

You're frozen once again, seeing Hetch standing in front of him. Behind Ranboo was dozens of screens, showing the horrifying adventures you couldn't remember with you and your friends. Apparently, M҉A҉S҉K҉M҉A҉S҉K҉M҉A҉S҉K҉M҉A҉S҉K҉ was able to remember though, somehow.

They scream with all of their lungs, begging towards the camera for the people watching to just let him die, to kill him.

The timer on the screen next to them, reaches zero.

"Looks like they've given you the gift of death, Ranboo"

They heavily breathe, strapped up in the cage, apparently unable to see you as you hide in the little stairwell, trying to figure out what was happening.

You gasp and clasp a hand over your mouth as you watch the metal box slam on itself, closing around their head. Blood drips down on their jacket, and down onto their pants, and finally their shoes and the floor beneath them. You jump back, unable to breathe as you watch the scene.

Hetch fades into thin air as the light dim out a bit, leaving you alone. You slowly step into the room, cautiously making your way to Ranboo. The camera, now behind you, slowly zooms out, showing you blankly staring at them, unable to process the death.

The blood pours onto the floor now, their body limp. You slowly raise your hand to touch the box, maybe even try to open it, but you didn't have the heart. You wouldn't be able to stomach seeing his poor face after that, considering the... everything about that.

You stare silently, wondering what would be ПΣX-ПΣXƬ-П-ПΣ-next for you.

eh the post was from like two days ago, you're fine. and yeah I've had enough experiences of people asking me why I think war crimes are okay in response to basic fan posts that I banish a Lot to my drafts forever. more reasons for my insane number of drafts include:

I use them as a bookmarking system for videos/long posts I can't look at when I first see them and then forget to delete after I get around to actually looking at them

sometimes my ability to form normal human sentences escapes me so if I want to post something I have to go through like three drafts, none of which I delete and overwrite because I still need them to refer back to what I was fucking trying to say in the first place

I use my drafts as a place to banish angsty diary entries. I could use google docs or something but the vibes are all different, for maximum catharsis I have to imagine that I Could post it publicly. I shan't. but I Could.

I am allergic to getting into direct fights online but I am constantly full of hot takes so I've got a zillion unredacted drafts about topical discourse that are just "what does tumblr user x think they're on about lmao [screenshot of their bad post and six paragraphs explaining why I hate it]"

HI!!! this ask has been sitting here for a bit but i really wanted to answer this on desktop, especially considering i have pictures on my computer of actual side characters for stuff like this!!

so, the main cast doesnt have a planned out schedule that i have made, however i can tell you which classes they definitely have and some side characters that i have so far for these classe.

so, sinie and daren are in art club as a side thing! daren has been taking art classes since his freshman year, his passion is art and he dabbles in a little bit of it all. so a lot of his elective classes are art related. sinie also rly likes art, but she's more of a sketching and making-my-own-clothes kind of artist. real shit i should put a sewing machine in sinie's room, its big enough and quite empty compared to everyone else's in my concept art....

here are two characters i have sketched out from art club!

rae has more of a personality written down but emerald i see as a very kind hearted, yet feisty girl with lots of style. she's sassy, but also has very good advice when it comes to detail

csilla, heather, and elise would all be in a cooking class together. csilla because she has neglectful parents and heather and elise for the fact that theyre obsessed with each other and also love cooking hahaha

elise would also be in a hair/cosmetology class. she's obsessed with The Look and fashion and makeup, so she would love to be professionally taught how to basically be a beauty guru haha

sinie is also in track! daren was when they were in middle school, but dropped it in high school to pursue art. sinie also likes to play soccer!

agitha is the head of the student council, and even has her own little posse!

i have an entire scene with them in chapter 3 which is Very fun. i had a lot of fun with it and i cant wait to explore them! oh csilla is also in the student council, recruited by agitha herself. so that means she's gonna be apart of this group too! awkward tho considering agitha and csilla are rivals, yet lbr, csilla would easily win over yumi and alex. (alex puts on a face of stoic-ness but she's actually just a wet cat lmao)

so, it all started when i was little.... we were living mostly in a small village in northern hungary, no access to cinemas or such but my dad started working at a tv station in the capital when i was like... idk. small

anyway, he had access to The Internet and pirated movies and brough home burned VHS tapes.... i loved fiction ever since i remember and movies were no different. saw a lot of disney and other stuff, mum says i rewatched a lot of them a lot of times.... as an undiagnosed adhd+autism kid these movies were my main source of obsession.

as many in my generation, i grew to love reading a bit later after i saw the first h*rry p*tter movie and read the book but even then and ever since as well my imagination works kinda like a movie. i imagine certain shots and angles, even tho for the most part my imagination is as fuzzy as my thoughts.

also on the part of the audhd, i was basically self medicating with movies. stressed? watch a movie. sensory overload? movie (or later on, music). feeling shit? movie. it kind of works like a factory reset of my brain if the film is good. i guess because for 1,5-2,5 hours i am completely focused on one thing in a way thats not exhausting to me.

during elementary, i was in a friend group that i got in because we were in the same not school related drawing group (rajzszakkör yknow) and basically all 4 of us were a bit too neurodivergent there i think 😄 anyway, somehow when i first got a phone with camera, we started doing little "sketches" (and me with my then best friend separately too). then two of those friends came up with a short movie idea, a mockumentary about the iconic "twin towers" of the town we lived in (and hated). the 4 of us filmed and played all parts, right there in the city, and one of us edited it. it turned out quite.... well, like a shitpost lmao. so, naturally, we got quite hooked but esp me and one other friend (who is now an acclaimed theatre director btw. lol)

anyway, so we did several of these short movies + i did several sketches and other stuff with all kinds of friends in the coming years, all through about mid-high school years...

for several reasons, despite it being the obvious choice, i didnt end up going to film major at uni but chose english studies. i don't regret it, but my place wouldve been at the film major tbh....

anyway, i decided to give up my filmmaking dreams... but yknow, special interests dont wotk that way lmao.

i kept watching movies with a critical mind, such as "oh this shot is good" or "this shot is too long, they should've cut it a few seconds earlier" or "oh, they are using xy technique here" and once you start looking at movies from a filmmaker point of view, theres just no turning back (or off). i think i majorly watch anime in my spare time now bc i analyze what i see less than with live action stuff.

so like. idk what my point here is. i listen to soundtracks of movies i loved, not just the ones with lyrics but the background music too. i love rewatching and dissecting parts. after seeing a new one that i loved i headstraight to imdb to the crew and trivia section, i watch/read interviews, check box office numbers even and stare in awe when they show a special technique or smg they used.

and i mainly always thought "well i just have a passion for it but its nothing that outstanding, right? people look these stuff up when then love smg, right?" well. 😶

then not too long ago i realized im not only adhd but autistic as well. and that the reason why this passion (and need to be involved in the making) never really left, even when i myself gave up on it, is bc its my special interest.

so now im slowly approaching crossroads bc on the one hand i have a stable corporate job with good routines at home. but on the other if i dont "give in" to my special interest i feel my soul will wither. but also im sososcared 👍

seeing some of my arcanetwt friends confused by tumblr so here are 10 tips, hopefully i can explain them in a succinct way that is specifically relevant for you all!

follow blogs and tags to see posts! eventually tumblr will accurately recommend things you like and show them on your for you page/"try these posts" on the explore page but i usually just scroll my dash.

you can sort your dash by most recent or recommended, but unlike twitter you aren't going to see other people's likes or replies on your dash, just posts and reblogs.

people love getting asks! (as long as they're nice!) asks are basically built in curiouscat. you can turn anon off if you want or turn asks off altogether but they can be a good way to spark a conversation/discussion.

people treat tags kinda like qrts! most people will throw their personal opinions about a post in the tags, because unlike hashtags you can use spaces and some punctuation. i rarely put my thoughts in a reblog unless i feel like it adds to the content of the post in some way/continues the discussion. basically if you just want to share your opinions put them in the tags but if you definitely want ppl to see what you're saying put them in a rb (either way people can look through the notes to read all the tags too)

on that topic, once your post has been reblogged it CANNOT BE DELETED! you can delete the original post off your blog but any rb is essentially a copy. it's not gonna disappear like on twitter. you can edit your posts on tumblr, but rbs that happened before the edit will not change. (this is why you'll sometimes see a deactivated blog's addition in the reblogs of a post)

you can private your likes and following list! honestly i recommend doing this, i think a lot of unnecessary twitter drama comes from those features being public but on tumblr no one knows how many followers you have but you and you don't have to share who you follow either. (keep in mind that privating your likes only hides the likes page from your blog, it doesn't hide your like in the notes of a post)

tumblr's tagging system is actually pretty great (whenever the search function decides to work lmao), you can tag a post by #gif, #art, #video, etc. so you can search your blog for it later. unlike twitter tumblr is shit when it comes to searching specific phrases, like it just refuses to work and i have no idea why, so i recommend this!

while tags technically do show up like hashtags in site wide searches, people very commonly come up with tagging systems just for their blog, like ways to reference posts to find them later, this is not really how people use tags on twt but it's common and useful here.

you can queue posts! if you don't want to spam you can schedule a post to be sent out at a certain time, or just leave your queue to post them in intervals throughout the day. people usually come up with a personal tag for their queue (often a pun where the word "queue" is replacing something) so their followers know they aren't actually active and the post was scheduled.

finally, and oops this ended up being long, tumblr posts have a ton of formatting features that make them a lot more like blog posts, feel free to play around! for the people who are really into blog design you can also actually edit the html of your blog's desktop site and fully code the page how you want (or just pick a premade theme)
