It's Race Week!

We are a group of about 145 people who are very loving, open, and easy to make friends with. If you're looking for a crew to run with, consider ours! Lovers of all drivers, teams, ect are welcome here! Between us, we do not all like each other's drivers, but we know how to behave. (Healthy debates always welcome, but no fighting please!)

We have:

All qualifying and races are guaranteed to be streamed. Practices are usually streamed as well. I typically feed the chat with the radio transcript messages from multiviewer. We have a specific spot for post race chatter so people who missed the race won't be spoiled.

There's a dynamic schedule in there for all events that translates to your timezone without you having to lift a finger!

F1 Fantasy is played in there, and there are channels for streaming games as well (F1 games, or others. Our resident artists sometimes stream art as well!)

There are spots for news, rumors, pets, memes, fanfic/rpf, general F1 discussion and off topics. We even have a sprint writing bot!

There's threads for other sports and other motorsports as well. We often times will stream other sports as well.

No mics or voice chatting is enabled for now. This can be unpredictable and make some people uncomfortable, so all chatting is done via typing/texting.

We have movie/show/youtube nights often as well, where we just get together as a little community and hang out and watch stuff.

An interactive game section where you can play a fishing mini-game, help us grow Nyck de Trees, and more!

Everyone is welcome. As long as you promise not to viciously bash drivers and treat everyone with respect, we got you.

Safety is a huge priority for us. We have 5 mods and between us, someone is always active to keep spaces safe. The server is locked until rules are agreed to, and we have measures in place to limit who can join the server based on age of account, account safety, ect. If your discord account is new and it won't let you in, message me directly and I'll see what I can do.

when did you first realise you hosted a system?

sometime in 2020 if I remember correctly? had been experiencing very obvious osdd symptoms for YEAAARS but had no idea what it was before meeting some friends who did. learned a bit about it and went okay interesting! and then a few months later went oh fuuuuck.

i genuinely think that the arts are so important and so undervalued by the average person. we weren’t put on this planet to make money or develop technologies and actually we weren’t even “put on this planet” at all we just evolved and evolved from the most random organisms and now we exist. there’s no bigger meaning. and these people who talk about bigger meanings and who want to create a technological utopia where everyone lives forever and no one needs to lift a finger can’t even read a book and derive a lesson from it. because it’s all “subjective nonsense” to them. it’s so heartless.

the arts have accompanied humans for almost as long as we’ve been able to walk on two legs. they’re the most raw way to understand human life and how to live it fully because they come from our most primal instincts. it’s human. children sing and draw before they can even name these actions. and then artists spend so much time getting in touch with themselves and the world around them in order to refine these primal instincts. art can transcend human language. at its essence it shows how our experiences are universal and we’re all just one species scattered across the globe.

i love being human and i love taking apart my emotions and understanding the decisions i make and having resolutions that boil down to “i want to live my trivial human life to the fullest” and not “i want money.” and it’s because im lucky to have grown up with the arts and developed a worldview that puts my condition as a human being before anything else.

That's how long Sakura had been waiting at the restaurant. 

She sighed. ‘I can't say I'm surprised,’ she thought. After all, she had been surprised her date had said yes in the first place, being as out of her league as they were. 

She herself had only just attained Chuunin status three days ago, and, riding on the high of her achievement, she’d decided to shoot her shot with the distractingly attractive proctor of the first and second exams. 

Whether she was just humoring her, or genuinely impressed by her performance, Sakura couldn’t tell, but the oldest of the Sand Siblings had looked her up and down and quirked her lips. “Sure. Tuesday, 7 PM, at the Flowering Cactus. Wear something nice.”

So here she was, sitting at the fancy table at 7:20, debating whether she should admit defeat and head back to her hotel yet. The longer she waited, the worse her sensei’s teasing would-

what i mean:

luffy is autistic. which is the main thing about his characterization, luffy fits into several stereotypes about autism: one of them being that he cannot lie, in the example of oda saying that he recognizes when people are attractive, he just doesnt care, is oda referring to him not being able to see how youre supposed to treat attractive people differently, which is a social cue.

perceiving him as sexless despite the fact he is canonically hedonistic and craves intimacy with other people, is textually inaccurate. but that's not a problem with people seeing him as ace specifically. several people who think luffy has sexual attraction, are insanely weird about him having sex and often infantalize him because of it.

either way, acting like luffy is ignorant about sex is bad both for autistic people and because it's really out of character for him to deny carnal pleasure. you can hc him as ace. its just not what oda is getting at, and i would personally urge against seeing him as sexless because it harms both autistic and ace people.

just as long as you aren't acting like he's 12, you're fine.

Stark’s season 3 arc - an analysis by me :)

This is intended neither as a defence or scrutiny. just the observation of a guy who is - admittedly - very unwell about that freaky little man.

spoilers for season 3 of Farscape throughout‼️‼️

Ok so. his weird little crush on Aeryn. (“sensual fascination” to use the words of the writers themselves) Yeah i don’t think it’s that at all. sure he’s attracted to her, but who wouldn’t be? have you SEEN her?

No, i think it’s a lot more complicated than that. obviously it’s partly because of Zhaan’s sacrifice and him getting fixated on her because it’s all of Zhaan that’s left, but i also think it has alot to do with Zhaan’s dying wish. take care of them. i’m counting on it. and by god does he try, he tries so fucking hard but they won’t let him because they just. don’t. trust him. and the more this dawns on him this more desperate he gets in trying to prove himself. He saves them from the budong, (green eyed monster) he brings rygel back from the dead (relativity) and he saves crais. (infinite possibilities) all that’s left is Crichton and Aeryn. He can’t save Crichton. and when he passes john over, there’s… a little blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment when he’s staring intently into the middle distance (purposefully avoiding johns face) where he gives a little nod, a meaningful glance toward Aeryn and then walks away, like he and John just came to a non-verbal understanding. Why do i get the feeling it was something along the lines of “take care of her?”

So now he’s got a little bit of Johns soul, not to mention his MEMORIES living in his head. what does John care about? Earth. Wormholes. Aeryn.

With all that in mind, i mean… is his behaviour any wonder?

Now i’m not saying this to argue that it isn’t a little creepy. it is. but i LIKE it. thats the part that comes from the darkness that resides in him. the twisted, jealous, selfish part that makes him so interesting to me. the part that resents Zhaan’s sacrifice. the part that thinks she did it for the love of Crichton. “oh poor John, he just can’t live without Aeryn. well what about me? what about what i can’t live without?”

so. he has a little adventure in voyeurism. listens in on them. watches them. as a little “fuck you” to their happiness. Zhaan died for it. isn’t he entitled to some of it? even if just from the sidelines?

i mean in a show where someone gets killed nearly every episode, most of those people dying by the main characters’ hands, who “deserves” death and who doesn’t and who gets to decide that is always blurry. and is never addressed directly in the show, as that would question the authority of the main characters, which makes these discussions always a bit of a slope. i do agree that those people amy killed probably weren’t. the best picked to die. like she would probably be powerful enough to take on more “deserving” targets. but then again who gets to decide that etc. just to clarify, i’m not trying to disagree with you, i just always like to bring thoughts to the table and see what everyone else thinks. the girl next door certainly is an episode !

About Amy picking more "deserving" targets:

I don't think Amy actually cared all that much how "bad" the targets were tbh. I don't think she spent time evaluating and researching each victim through a Dexter-esque kill code before murdering them. She had no time for that—her son was actively dying, and if she wanted to save him, she had to kill quickly. She was still stalking and killing while Sam was actively hunting her because the situation was that urgent and dire. No—what Amy did is pick conveniently and opportunistically. She picked people who happened to be out at night, alone, whose deaths the police would have little interest in prioritizing. Her goal was never to act out vigilante justice—taking an extremely short amount of time to notice that someone was a petty criminal just helped assuage some of her guilt about it.

For the rest of it, let me give you three situations:

My child is being stalked by a serial killer. The killer comes to my house with the intention of killing my child. I kill that serial killer.

There is no enforcement of law where I live. Murderers run amok, able to stalk, murder, and even eat their victims and no one does anything about it. I decide to act as a vigilante to defend the victims of these killers from stalking, killing, and eating them by killing the people who I know are stalking, killing, and eating them.

I have a child who is dying and requires a heart transplant in order to survive, and I know that my child will not survive long enough to receive an organ donation on a very long waitlist. However, there are plenty of people around me who have working hearts, so I hunt down one of them and kill them and arrange to have their heart transplanted into my child.

These three scenarios become increasingly morally grey from one to the next (in fact, I have absolutely zero issue at all whatsoever with the first, and in its specific context, not much issue with the second), but the third is very very different from the first and second, is it not? And to me, a very obvious example of something that is evil.

Whether the target I pick in the third scenario is a person who’s never even jaywalked before or whether it's Tim who lives down the street who I knows deals drugs, or hell—even if it's a dude on death row—doesn't change the fact that the only one trying to and succeeding at trying to kill anyone at the end of the day is just me; that nobody threatened or wronged my child; that nobody was trying to steal their life. In this third scenario, there is no evil figure I am fighting directly against. I steal people's lives and essence in order to keep my child alive out of nothing more than selfishness.

While I agree it's easy to get into the weeds of vigilante justice, we shouldn't, because that isn't even what Amy was doing. She is not #2—she's #3. What she did versus what Sam and Dean do as a job (#2) are ultimately very different things in terms of the motives and circumstances involved, the victims, and the aggressors.

In the end, the whole discussion started with me bringing up a specific line, where Sam says that he and Dean would both murder strangers in order to feed their insides to a loved one just to keep that loved one alive, which is very very different from what they do on a regular basis in terms of circumstances and motives, regardless of if we're talking people who "deserve" to die or people who don't.
