Propaganda
James Stewart (It's a Wonderful Life, The Philadelphia Story, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington)—the thing about Jimmy Stewart is that for a weird-enough looking guy, he is yet somehow SO hot and SO believable, ALWAYS. He always plays the same person—he's always, well, Jimmy Stewart—yet that person can be a murderer, a dark cynic, a naive idealist, the boy next door or an old man who knows better, and every one of those is hot. I would jump his bones in a heartbeat
Toshiro Mifune (Rashumon, Seven Samurai, Grand Prix, Stray Dog)—i love and respect my boi tab hunter (rest in peace you beautiful, beautiful man ❤️), but after i watched like 12 of his movies in a row on tcm last year, i ALSO love and respect toshiro mifune, son of a literal actual hatamoto’s (a high-ranking samurai) daughter, also very possibly related to the best judokan EVER, AND, he’s the guy who SHOULD have been obi-wan kenobi. the fact that he’s ALSO hot as hell just adds to his appeal.
This is round 4 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.

James Stewart propaganda:
Tumblr media
"Ough I saw him first in It's A Wonderful Life, where he is very charming as a suicidal family man being absolutely crushed by capitalism. But then. The Philadelphia Story, in my opinion, should get the same kind of press The Mummy does for being a bisexual dream. Now I'm not really bi (not into women) and it's honestly up for debate whether i'm attracted to men or not, but COME ON!! The movie stars James Stewart as well as Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn (and Ruth Hussey). Stewart plays a common working man, a journalist, to contrast with Grant's character, who is mega-rich. He is scrappy and hates rich people. Hot! They have a whole scene together where he's super drunk and being really physical with his acting, which I love because he is kinda wet noodle shaped. Hot! He carries Hepburn in his arms while singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Hot! He gets punched in the face by Cary Grant. Hot!!! In The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, we get to see him portray an alternative type of masculinity, opposite John Wayne doing John Wayne. He is even more wet noodle-y, to put emphasis on his incompatibility with the rugged masculinity of the cow-boy, he wears an apron for a lot of the film, again, to blur his masculinity, and he gets shot. Hot! Also he's older here, if that's your thing. Long story short: He's giving librarian chic and The Philadelphia Story made me want to be poly."

Tumblr media
“Here he is next to Grant, in what I believe to be a promotional shot for The Philadelphia Story. Please don’t get distracted by Grant (or do, i’m submitting him next).”
Tumblr media
“He’s a nice guy and a good guy and deserves all the happiness and joy ever! Classic boy next door/class president kid that everyone loves for real. Stand-up for the Little Guy vibes. With a charming fun side!!”

Toshiro Mifune propaganda:

"In addition, he spoke fluent mandarin and every time he was casted in foreign films, he said his lines in the language of the movie (although they ended up dubbing him. He wasn’t happy about it though).”

Also submitted: this video (yes, that one)

Ok i have to comment on this scene because there's a lot i have to say about it because i LOVE it.
(LOTS OF STUFF UNDER THE BREAK LOL SORRY I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ABT THIS SCENE)
For starters, I say this in the best way possible, this scene feels like fanfiction or a fan film specifically because we never get video game adaptations that are this close to the source material. And I love it.
This scene brought me back to when fnaf 3 came out and the Springlock Failure scene was fresh in everyone's minds.
It also acknowledged something that a lot of people don't really seem to understand, it's that while yes William is batshit insane, he's also incredibly cunning and determined, let me explain:
I know when we think of the springlock failure we think of how it was portrayed in fnaf 3, as an instantaneous impalement of every limb on Williams body, causing him to explode in a puddle of blood. (this was further drilled into the fandoms minds with THIS famous audio) But to be honest, I kinda prefer the films slower, less instant depiction of the springlocks failing. Specifically because of the way William processes it.
As soon as the first few locks go off he looks genuinely afraid
Tumblr media
A few more go off, that fear turns into what looks to be anger
Tumblr media
Before finally reaching for the spring bonnie mask to put it back on, uttering the famous line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I always come back."
I don't want to make assumptions quite yet because I don't know if they're gonna do anything with Remnant, but the way that movie William seems almost prepared for his death implies that he knows something that nobody else does. "I always come back" was used by game William because he had already been experimenting with Remnant (it was the reason he started murdering children to begin with) and thus knew about the idea of a life after death, and it makes me wonder if Remnant is gonna be in the film universe as well.
The sequel is already in pre-production and I can't wait to see what they do for it, because there is something about this William specifically that makes him so much more interesting than game William, and I think that's partly because game William is inherently pretty 1-dimensional, most of the things people like about game Will comes from fannon and isn't actually cannon

I can't stop thinking about the contrast between hyunjin and seungmin. Seungmin is mostly portrayed as a hard dom while hyunjin is not. And I just had this thought about how they'd react to catching their gfs (if you do f reader) making out because they missed the guys
They'd be turned on I assume but would it turn to a foursome? (ideal outcome) Seungmin would want to punish his (and maybe hyunjin's?) partner while hyunjin would be a little softer (to both of the partners?) (sharing is caring)
I love this so much. ive actually thought about a m/f/f threesome with the guys and I just think it's the hottest idea, so 4 of them??
ᥫ᭡ thoughts... | MDNI18+, sexting, fem!reader, bi/poly!reader, masturbation (m!)
just imagine you're hanging out with Hyunjin's gf and you two think "wouldn't it be so funny to send a picture to them with us kissing??" starting off just playful and innocent, but you realize she actually has really soft lips. and she smells so nice and her hips are so plush. maybe you send them more than a pic, maybe more than one video.
getting so wet from kissing someone else's gf it kinda feels naughty, but you can hardly care when her smooth hands trails over your thighs, up your hips, cupping your breasts. when things really start getting hot and heavy thats when your bfs come in, wide and eyed and a tent in their pants.
oh yeah, they're pissed. but not cuz you two were kissing, but because you hardly thought to invite them. I think hyunjin would really like to watch his gf and you make out, swapping tongues. seungmin is a little more rough, yanking you back by your hair and calling your a dirty little slut for going after his best friend's girlfriend.
His grip is harsh on your scalp, but it blurs with the pleasure of the girlfriend's tongue lapping on your neck. "I should have known better than to leave you alone with her. If I'm not dicking you down every second, you just have to go find someone who will huh?" Your eyes dart to Hyunjin who seems rather pleased with what's unfolding. He's got a hand down his pants and you can the outline of his fingers stroking himself. "Move Seungmin," Hyunjin's voice is strained. "I can't see."
oh hell yeah you've got my brain thinking I am FERAL

I'm not going to lie; I do hate on Richard Cameron. It's a classic in the DPS fandom. But when you start looking a little bit more into his character, there is something that tells you you can't just hate this kid.
The way Cameron was always excluded by Charlie, and the Dead Poets would laugh because he would say funny jokes at Cameron's questions and comments. Even if Cameron was Neil's friend, that was mostly outside the group. He truly was the one that didn't fit between the Poets, and the reason he even got to be in the meetings was because of Neil Perry.
Neil connected the Dead Poets Society. One wouldn't think to make meetings with a really chaotic dude who hates a really stuck to rules guy, and that last guy in question being invited too. But the meetings weren't even terrible, Charlie threw some comments about Cameron and viceversa here and there.
Charlie punched Cameron after Neil's death, which is something completely different than a funny remark.
I've talked about Charlie and Neil's friendship, which was a lot more portrayed than what we can see of Neil and Cameron's. Charlie's grief has to do with the fact that Neil couldn't be an actor because of Mr. Perry. Cameron's grief has to do with the fact that Neil is never coming back, and there has to be a guilty one.
Cameron doesn't only think of Mr. Keating as the culprit because of the authorities, but also because he wasn't very fond of his form of teaching in the first place (for example, Cameron asked to the Poets if he would test them on something, and Charlie responding that he didn't get it). And that's another thing they don't have in common; Charlie adores Mr. Keating, Cameron does not seem to be very fond of him.
Taking these into account, Cameron's grief, along with disliking Mr. Keating, and also that he doesn't have the ability like the other Poets to just question authority--he snitches on everyone.
And that was... terrible of him, we know that. But Charlie quite literally made the Poets known before he even snitched. And that isn't talked about in the fandom. Like, yeah, I adore Charlie and I think he's amazing and bla bla, but the double standards kinda hit on this one.
Unpopular opinion much? Probably. I am not defending Cameron's actions by any means, but let's not forget these are 17 year-old boys. And Cameron had to deal with Neil's death in his own way. As I said, he didn't question authority or rebel against it like the others; Cameron wasn't a poet, but he was in the Dead Poets Society.
I am also NOT hating on Charlie. I hope my wording isn't terrible. I love all of the Poets (there might be favorites though(
I think I should elaborate on this at a much more decent hour (it is currently 3am). Please don't leave me hate comments while I sleep, I prefer to read them with my eyes open...
[Youtuber voice] Like and suscribe if you want me to do a part 2 video of this!!!

Demon Slayer AU where everything is the same except Yoriichi is a ghost.
He’s corporal/people can see him, he can change his appearance from when he was a kid to when he was old.
He follows Tanjiro around. They met sometime before the Hashira Training Arc for sure, but how early depends on what the writer decides. Has he been there since pre-canon? Or did he show up after the Entertainment District Arc (would honestly make most sense since Tanjiro didn’t know about Sun Breathing until after Mugen Train, but again this is an AU).
He meets Muichiro, and after it clicks that he’s Michikatsu’s descendant Yoriichi follows him around too, eager to be close with the family he could never have.
Depending on when they met, Yoriichi could help Muichiro recover is missing memories earlier than in canon.
Other things about/to include in the AU:
Kamaboko Squad centric (Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Kanao, Genya, AND Aoi and Senjuro)
each member gets a one-on-one interaction with him at some point, which will add to their own personal character growth
Whether or not Yoriichi can physically interact with others is up to the writer
making him able to fight demons seems kinda OP, so unless the writer can find a way to make it make sense about how he can maybe don’t do that
maybe he can exude enough strength to stun demons, but not fully kill them
can he pick things up, or do they just pass through him?
He helps train Tanjiro, making him more proficient in Sun Breathing
this can give Tanjiro more time to hone is Water Breathing. It always irked me that Tanjiro didn’t practice Water Breathing as much when he discovered Sun Breathing (don’t quote me on that, I get my info from TikToks and reaction videos. But why learn two breathing styles and not increase your skill in both?)
this can allow a Giyuu training session in the Hashira Training Arc that we didn’t get to see
Expanding on Yoriichi changing his age: I feel like the older he presents himself, the more power he would have. So when he’s fighting, he’s somewhere between his 20s and 80s. However, because this takes up a lot of energy, when he’s not fighting he’s typically in the form of himself as a child or in his teens
whether or not his mentality/maturity is affected when he’s at different ages is up to the writer so long as it’s not portrayed in an erotic/kinky way
Yoriichi can give tips to the Hashiras that those in the Sengoku Era used (information always has the potential to be forgotten, so maybe there were some tricks that were forgotten about?)
can provide more information about Muzan and his weaknesses, since he was the only swordsman who came close to killing the Demon King
Interactions with Lady Tamayo and Yushiro!
Fluffy moments! Slice of Life, Found Family, all the tropes! Let him be the father to the Kamaboko Squad that they never had/lost (let him have the chance to be the father he never got to be)
Lots of interactions with Genya (is my favoritism showing?)
bonding over being the younger brother
bonding over their endless love for their older brothers
bonding over their older brothers who do so much to hurt them, but they just can’t stop admiring them
Let Yoriichi give Sanemi a talking to
yes, I understand why Sanemi acted towards Genya the way he did. He wanted to protect him, keep him out of danger. However. Good intentions DO NOT give you a free pass on bad actions.
the way that Sanemi treated Genya was cruel and frankly unacceptable; he could’ve gone about it in a much more mature manner
Interactions with Giyuu and Yoriichi!!
mostly bc Giyuu is my fav Hashira, but I notice a lot of similarities between them
Maybe Yoriichi can provide information about Kokushibo/Uppermoon 1?
Yoriichi has the flute that Michikatsu gave him with him in his ghost form
Additional weaknesses up to the writer (this goes for powers too)
Kamaboko Squad showing Yoriichi present-day things
A mix of fluff, angst, etc.
rating is up to the author
ANY SHIP is welcome so long as it is:
legal
not a pro-ship
treated respectfully/with some level of understanding
^^continuing from this, it doesn’t matter if you include SaneKane, SaneGiyuu, ShinoGiyuu, ShinoMitsu, SaneMitsu, ObaGiyuu, UzuRen, or any other pairing, polyamorous included. It doesn’t matter if there’s no ships at all. Everyone has there own preferences, and it’s up to both the reader and the writer to be respectful about it
This is all I’ve come up with for now! I’ll most likely come back and add more at some point, but if you have any ideas or suggestions let me know too!
If you end up using this idea, credit me with my Tumblr, and if you want to as well my AO3 which can be found in my profile :)

watched a 30 minute video about hajime isayama and his development as a mangaka and a person. it talked a great deal about his self esteem and inferiority complex and anxiety, which i agree are all relevant to his work, knowing it's a lonely (maybe autistic? he kinda has the vibe) guy in his 20s trying to navigate a first serialisation explains a lot. but not a single word about his political ideology, and like. surely someone has asked him about it? at some point?
there was a period he was getting death threats from Korean readers after it came out that a positively portrayed AoT character was modeled after a certain Japanese general who participated in the occupation, it's not like it's a niche subject. and more generally there are points where AoT comes across almost as a roman à clef for the Japanese far right, the Marley arc onwards throws out all this Holocaust imagery, it's a story full of military coups and people getting radicalised into paramilitaries and geopolitical tensions and genocides and the bloody legacy of nation building, generally handled with about the subtlety of a train. he definitely was a nationalist at one point, and the general consensus on this website tends to be it's simply youjo senki levels of fash. I still feel like the situation is more complicated (at least there is a lot that would undercut a straightforward fascist reading), but I kinda want to hear what Isayama would say about it.
not that he entirely seems to have the strongest ability to discuss the themes of his work in explicit terms. like not even in a 'the work should speak for itself' sort of way, which i would respect - he seems to talk a lot about his hesitance over what readers would accept, his worries he didn't stick the landing, his difficulties connecting with his main character, how the anime adaptation affected his writing. he's happy to talk about a lot of things! and i don't mean some interviewer should corner him like 'so man, are you an actual fascist or what, the people are dying to know' - more I just kinda want to know what the hell he was going for with all this. whether he feels his worldview changed over the course of the story. if what I think I am picking up is what he thought he was putting down. because i can speculate and all, but... whereas with someone like Hayao Miyazaki, or Yoko Taro, they've talked quite a bit about their respective ideological development and how it's reflected in their stories, with Isayama there's just nothing I've been able to find...

small details in the dnpc video no one is mentioning
okay, look, i'm gonna admit it, i'm a game/film theory girly and a whore for lore, so i pick at details i shouldn't be picking at, so here's some things i see in the video that i don't see being mentioned in theories/analyses. also keep in mind my brain consists of a single cell encapsulated in aspic (i know what the actual deeper meaning is this is just a bit of fun for me)
the thing underneath the piano - the camera falls off the piano in one scene and something (i still cant figure out what exactly it might be) is visible, oddly clear-looking for something underneath a broken piano in shoddy lighting (actually looking at it again it might be a corpse, is it possibly phil's old body?)
dan telling phil not to film him drawing the sigils but phil still filming - you might be able to also throw in the part where phil screams "NO" when the camera's on him sitting in the corner; they don't seem to want things to be filmed but it feels like they're obligated to record everything to some extent
phil's very explicit control over dan - this is to the point where he even has to tell dan what and what isn't food, and takes away water privileges for some reason (btw this is your reminder to drink some water) and overall very demanding tone when instructing him
SOFT AND NEAT - there's a lot of reinforcement of this, its clearly a joke but i'm overanalytical and will blatantly ignore this. there's heavy hesitation with any sharp object around them (when dan has to cut his hand, kill phil, take out phil's heart, mentioning razor blades when using the shaving foam)
dan still primarily uses his left hand - people have mentioned how he's been "fixed" but him using his right hand seems to be performative since he pours most things, mixes with his left hand, and even primarily uses his left hand to spread the blood (plus he never sacrificed himself unlike phil who seems to have died in potato stamps and been resurrected with perfect vision) there's also old superstitions that being left-handed means you're somehow cursed by/connected to satan, speaking of which...
dan has a much better connection and the ability to communicate directly with Him - he seems to be a conduit, possibly being used by phil to properly perform anything (which also probably helped with his resurrection and eyesight improvement), he has uncontrollable actions from time to time
the sigils themselves - what do they all mean? what could they mean in a bigger, symbolic context? anyone that understands them pls explain to my aspic brain
the entire place fucking burns down after the ritual is complete and they're embraced by Him - it's clear at least to me that the shed is set on fire at the end of the video, cutting off further possible footage
dan doesn't put blood on phil's forehead during the ritual - might've just been a slipup during filming but we also dont see the blood dan put on his own forehead once he arrives and theyre all standing up in the pentagram
also just a couple fun facts:
the number on the case file when converted to corresponding letters of the alphabet spell out "satan"
what dan says in his reversed clip is just "thanks!", nothing is really said in the reversed clip of phil opening the shed door its juts kinda a random noise someone made
Aaaaand some misc nonsense crackpot theories/ideas/thoughts/brain vomit that my brain keeps me awake at night with (optional reading):
if the demon taking them at the end is actually baphomet and not just some generalized idea of satan, then "mother" could be another way to refer to "him" since baphomet is portrayed as having both female and male characteristics (bobs n pennies)
personally this is scarier/more unnerving than the actual blair witch project for some reason
my bathroom sink is the one sink you cant ship
i want a dapc for those dolls they hung everywhere
is cataloguing all of the ritual setup part of the craft channel's purpose?
what was the reason for summoning him? did they bring him to our plane of existence to just let him absorb these two brink-of-twinks and then use their gay power to torment the straights?
oh that rope is just his belt thing not rope tying dip and pip together
i think this is a good wrap-up idk what they could do in a part 5 to conclude things better

Real talk
Im sooooo tired of Vox always being portrayed as the victim and Alastor the only one 100% responsible for their friendship falling apart
Did we all suddenly forgot that Vox is a terrible person too? He brainwashes his audience, he supports Val, he is willing to offer his lowest employees for Val to kill, he's also prob abusive to his employees as well, he stalks pretty much everyone, he has like 5 cameras inside Angel's dressing room, also it's like implied he's jealous of Angel because he gets Val's attention, him being jealous of Angel for being a victim of abuse is pretty messed up if you ask me. Oh he also told Sir Pentious to fucking kill himself and he also gets hard of seeing people in pain and get hurt! (Sure it was Alastor but still messed up)
" he looks so sad at the end of stayed gone when Alastor threatens him I feel so bad for him:(("
Really ? Well maybe if he had just kept his little hate boner for Al to himself instead of feeling to need to start publicly slandering him it wouldn't had happened. Just saying. Also I don't see how people feel bad for him. If anything he looks so extremely pathetic it's laughable I want to kick him
Okay this is kinda out of the point I want to make it's just many people who make him the victim seem to forget he's a terrible person so I just wanted to friendly remind everyone that he's as awful as Al ^^
Anyway
I think, we should acknowledge, that it's a complicated, and probably tragic, situation. What if, maybe, they're both as equal at fault for shit going down hills for their friendship. Vox because he doesn't respect others wishes and cannot take no for an answer, he prob tried forcing Al to move on with recent technology, which Al hates. ((His request to Al to join the Vees also prob meant catching up with the nowdays stuff and new technology, like the rest of them)) and Al because he was prob unnecessary cruel and brutal with his rejection.
I don't think Al was just using Vox like I've seen many people say. He allowed Vox to take a picture of them together. For Al to do that I think it confirms their friendship was genuine. "Ah but it's Alastor so that means it was fake cuz he's an evil manipulative bastard who only cares for him-" You're wrong, but also right lol. He's an evil manipulative bastard, but , he's also capable of genuine friendships with others (( did y'all forget Rosie lol? )). What I think happened is that, time passed , things changed. Vox became obsessed with new technology and tried to force Al to follow in, Al didn't like that, but instead of communicating with eachother and solving their problems by talking it out and respect eachother's wishes, they had an unnecessary argument and fight. They're both to blame for this, they're no victims in the situation and it's okay you can still sympathise with eithers side
Also people who make Al the villain for like not returning Vox's confession and feelings in most One sided Radiostatic videos/fics I've seen-- yikes.. I really hate that I have to literally say to PLEASE don't villiantise the aroace character for being aroace and rejecting confessions. It's extremely ace/arophonic (and yes I get to have a say to this, I'm a replused aroace videos/fics like this genuinely make me feel negative emotions) even if he was extremely cruel with his rejection -- villiantise the fact that he's an asshole- not his rejection.
yes I agree!! this is essentially a consolidation of points I've made before ksdlfglg
like yes, alastor's an absolute shithead but I think there are some people who forget that vox is also... not a good person. I don't think there's anything wrong with there being sympathetic aspects to vox but I feel like there's such a huge amount of fanwork where he's the only one portrayed sympathetically without showing his own bad points in their relationship, and I absolutely hate it when alastor is fully blamed for how vox is now and vox is seen as
Tumblr media
yeah
vox got pissy at a rejection, that's not being able to take no for an answer, that's incel behaviour LMAO
feel like there's something to be said about people feeling the need to sympathise with the one with unrequited feelings compared to the one who has to deal with someone expecting romance from them when they don't feel the same. does it have to do with society's expectations about romance that unrequited feelings are more sympathisable?
but yeah I am glad that at least the "complicated" part of the description of their relationship implies to me it won't be as simple as "vox was the poor victim and alastor was just using him", I think it is much more interesting if there's no clear victim and both were at fault in a way

Galinda's True Colours
One key theme in Wicked is superficiality. The world of Oz is a place where honest conversation is difficult to come by. Almost everyone is pretending to be something, or believe something, or have something, all to get what they want.
Popular approaches this theme with the subtlety of a hyperactive wrecking ball and gives a musical monologue about how this world works, and why.
Because Galinda has been portrayed as ditsy up to this point, with a bit of the self-serving schemer archetype thrown in for flavour. But here, we see just how intelligent she is. Galinda has caught on to how the world works, and understands what buttons to push.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD (Wicked)
Tumblr media
The first element to be brought under examination is Wicked's love for subverting expectations. By this, I mean that certain mindsets in the world have stereotypes associated with them, take idealism and cynicism for example.
Tumblr media
From what I have observed, when a writer wants to use one of these archetypes, they will probably draw on a few common ideas. The former is usually portrayed as stary-eyed and naive, or unflinchingly positive. Cynicism meanwhile has a certain sarcasm to it. A cynic might feature a permanent scowl and a dry remark as a kneejerk reaction to anything.
In short, Cynics are usually written to be villains who are overcome by hopeful heroes, or to be heroes who are proven right by a world where hope is meaningless. Idealists on the other hand are either heroes who make the world a better place by sheer force of goodness, or naive fools who the world breaks down.
Tumblr media
Obviously, there are exceptions to the rule, but those exceptions are mostly more developed characters in their own right, so the label of "a cynic" doesn't really fit them. Batman is an idealist (when he's written properly).
What is fascinating about Wicked is how the characters are presented. Elphaba is introduced as cynical, she fits the archetype to a tea. But after a musical number, her character swaps entirely. She keeps the sarcasm, but the hopefulness becomes a driving force that goes against the stereotype.
Tumblr media
Galinda is... introduced as a bit of a ditz. She's got an ego, she gets what she wants all of the time, she has a well-known family. She's the generic rich kid, essentially. Fiyero gets the same treatment.
For the record, By Galinda, I mean young Glinda, and I am treating them as separate entities until they meet back up.
Tumblr media
Anyway, when Galinda starts singing, her real worldview becomes clear. It's possible to argue that it wasn't particularly hidden to begin with, but in Popular, she bludgeons you over the head with it.
"Celebrated heads of state Or 'specially great communicators Did they have brains or knowledge? Don't make me laugh! They were popular! Please, it's all about popular! It's not about aptitude It's the way you're viewed"
As much as I despise it, Galinda is kinda right here.
Tumblr media
In 1964, Henry Littlefield published an essay in the American Quarterly titled The Wizard of Oz: Parable on Populism in which he gave some opinions on a theoretical metaphor inherent in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book (if you don't want to read it, TedEd has a video discussing it and its legacy). He claimed that it was an inherently political book about the time Baum wrote it.
The sparkly new world looks even better if you put on tinted glasses, and only works if you understand that the wizard's power is empty, so Littlefield proposed.
Scholars since have praised, debated, and debunked Littlefield's essay. Pointing out the fact that this is pattern recognition with hindsight, in the same way that you can look to the stars and see a goat.
Essentially, there is an argument for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz being political, and there is an argument (most famously made by its Baum himself) that it is just a children's book.
Wicked is a satire, and not a children's book, so it gets away with some heavy insinuation, but to avoid landmines and a lack of knowledge on my own part, I am going to talk exclusively about how this affects the land of Oz itself, rather than its implications for the real world. Please don't argue in the replies.
Tumblr media
So, Galinda's hypothesis here is that the leaders of Oz do not get to where they are because of any actual skill, but rather because they were well liked by either the people, or their superiors. She gets proven right about this throughout the musical. Madam Morrible moves up in the world by presenting Elphaba to the wizard, the Wizard gained power by giving Oz a common enemy, and Galinda and Fiyero themselves gain status seemingly out of nowhere.
In Oz, it doesn't matter what you know, but who you know, and who knows you.
Tumblr media
In the show that I watched, Galinda was played by Courtney Monsma, who knocked this number out of the park. Galinda is an incredibly cynical character, but Monsma played her with what I can only describe as "manic pixie energy", which circles back to Wicked's idea of superficiality.
Because the ditzy pantomime of Galinda present in What is this Feeling and half of Dancing Through Life is nothing compared to the madness that is Popular. This is a character who knows exactly how to toss her hair to get what she wants, who knows how to make people think she is something she isn't.
Monsma played a character who was well aware that perception would get her further in life than intelligence, and was having fun with that confidence. But she is actually clever, Galinda has picked up on this fact that everyone else has just accepted subconciously, but now she can explain it.
This song feels like a hyper fixation rant. The frantic obsession was a mere outlet for the excitement of finally being able to speak to this worldview head on to someone who she respects and knows will actually understand her. This song feels like Galinda and Elphaba are on emotional and intellectual equal footing.
Tumblr media
This song is also part of my case for Wicked as a queer musical that only works as a story because the romance doesn't. As in, this is a story about a romance that could have been, and that romance reads as queer to me. I will get more into it next week, but for now, I will say this:
This song doesn't matter, and that's exactly why it does matter.
Tumblr media
This is the moment when Elphaba and Galinda connect, and share. This is Galinda trying to give back for the wand and make up for her previous behaviour to make Elphaba less of an outcast. But she has already done that.
The moment at the end of Dancing Through Life when Elphaba and Galinda share the spotlight, when Galinda makes herself look like a fool to match Elphaba, when she lets the outcast lead, and the rest of the room goes along with it. That moment is when the romance is kicked off, that is the moment when she starts making amends. That is the moment when she starts to make Elphaba less of a social pariah.
That dance renders Popular superfluous, or at least it does on paper. In reality, this song is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the foreshadowing department, even more so than What is this Feeling, in my most humble of opinions.
Tumblr media
Popular happens because Galinda is right about so much in her world, but wrong about the most important thing. Brains and knowledge are irrelevant in Oz, perception is powerful, but empathy rules them all.
Galinda gives this big show of how amazing she is for helping people. Look at her, she's so good. But, Elphaba doesn't care about that, and Galinda does. The romance doesn't work in the end because Galinda realises too late that in the big scheme of things, superficiality is nowhere near as fulfilling as connection. That's why her romance with Fiyero breaks off, and its why her romance with Elphaba is doomed. She only realises this when both options are off the table.
The romance between Elphaba and Galinda breaks apart, but it can only do that because it was there to begin with. You can't tear down nothing.
You could read the relationship as entirely platonic, a friendship that breaks down. But art is subjective, and to me, the romance makes this story so much more compelling.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
Popular is a popular song in the fanbase. It's an absolute bop, but it's also one of the simplest numbers in the entire production. The set is two beds, there is no fancy dancing, just one character sitting still and the other jumping around like she's on springs. The set doesn't change, there are no extra characters, nothing.
This song doesn't let anything distract from the character drama that is going on in centre stage, so that the audience can take in what is actually being said and done.
Next week, I am taking a look at I'm Not That Girl, and I will being going all in on the queer reading of this musical. Although, that is a heterosexual love song, right? How could that be queer? I have thoughts, so stick around if that interests you.

i also disagree with big joel's natla video re: iroh where he says that first season iroh is a bad guy helping zuko capture the avatar and only turns good in the second season. he points to natla iroh telling zuko his father might not want him back as an example of this season 2 iroh personality but that scene was based on iroh's first scene, where he says that zuko's family has searched for the avatar for generations in vain and that zuko should just sit and have a cup of calming tea (prompting the iconic "i don't need any calming tea!"). natla is being thuddingly obvious about it but situated in the context of the rest of iroh's character that's pretty obviously what he meant. wouldn't you rather sit and have a cup of tea instead of go on a likely-impossible quest for your dad who hates you?
the reason that scene comes off as season 2 iroh is because of natla's lack of subtlety, because iroh becomes more direct later on once he sees that zuko might be receptive to him. it's not actually because he was helping capture the avatar in season 1. he's mostly just kind of hanging around, and even kinda derails the quest at points (oversleeping in a hot spring, "losing" a pai sho tile). the most he does is help zuko stowaway on zhao's ship and sneak into the northern water tribe, and even then, that's the moment he says he thinks of zuko as his own since lu ten died, so you get the impression he doesn't want zuko going on this dangerous mission. even when he's helping, he's reluctant about it.
season 2 good guy iroh is actually super easy to overlay onto season 1 iroh. season 1 iroh isn't directly stopping zuko from going on his quest, but he's not helping either. he's all "let's have some calming tea and "why don't you join me in the hot spring?" and "let's go shopping!" with the context of season 2, it's easy to read all of this as gentle attempts at derailing the quest. at the very least, he is never portrayed as super invested in anything but zuko's well-being. at worst, he is neutral, and at best, he's trying to subtly sway zuko to good.
maybe big joel got the impression that iroh helps capture the avatar because natla iroh is involved in capturing the avatar. it's his idea to go to june, where in the original show it's zuko's. sure, original iroh comments pointedly that the shirshu might be useful, but he isn't actively pushing it like natla iroh. and seeing the jarring disconnect between that and the more season 2-ish directness might make you think the issue is running ahead in iroh's characterization. but the problem is simply that natla is unsubtle, and season 1 iroh is someone who is keeping his cards (and pai sho tiles) very close to his chest

Hiiiii I absolutely looove everything you create on here.
Now hear me out what about John (can be Wick or Constantine or both) with very sensitive reader (like she cries when an insect is squished bc they have a family or like those videos of animals in shelters she just wants them all and to keep them so they all have a home even if they r way too big. All in all she’s just very empathetic. Btw I’m kinda projecting as this is me lol)
you were actually my first follower i’m fangirling right now!! :3
john wick. john constantine. x sensitive gn!reader.
Tumblr media
࿔ john wick.
would be sooo understanding of you. he actually finds it so adorable how empathetic you are, it literally makes his heart swell with affection. you are a walking ray of sunshine and he is in love with you.
when outside, he would patiently wait for you to pet all the stray cats and doggies. even carries antiseptics and wet wipes with him because he knows animals can unfortunately give people infections, but he also knows you can’t help yourself so he is always ready to take care of you after you take care of them ;) also, totally has some treats with him at all times so you don’t feel bad leaving them without food.
very specific headcanon, but he gets one of these to take all the insects outside without hurting them. 😭
࿔ john constantine.
now to the bad news…
that scene with the spider? yeah. he made me so mad you guys have no idea. he would literally mock you and say stuff like “don’t act like a baby.”
rolls his eyes at you when you start crying over a movie in which some sad animals are portrayed. like he genuinely doesn’t think it’s that deep, scoffs when you curl around his body to weep and he is like…😐…awkwardly patting your back.
but also, he knows not to cross the line. he will ABSOLUTELY tease you and pretend he is about to squish a bug, eager to see your eyes water, but won’t actually do that.

Let's talk about Christopher Diaz in fanfic
I want to preface this by saying I'm pretty new to the fandom. I joined a few months or so before season 7 started dropping. So I'm probably not the best source for information when it comes to the show, but I definitely wanted to throw my hat into the ring. I'm aware that Chris is aging during the course of the show, and that he was much younger when he was first introduced, but it seems to me that a lot of fanfic writers and/or people in this fandom kinda struggle to realistically write and/or portray accurate representation of a preteen/early teenager as Chris is now.
I have absolutely no idea if maybe it's some kinda weird way of seemingly (kinda horribly) trying to portray disability, or maybe people in the 911 fandom just do not spend time around pre-teens, but as someone who does spend a lot of time with a pre-teen (specifically my 12 y/o brother) I definitely figured I could give some insight into this topic.
Now I do want to clarify before I begin, that in no way shape or form am I talking about the disabled portion of Chris' experience. I don't have the knowledge or firsthand experience or anything like that to even begin to try and be a voice on that topic, and if anyone else could give insight into that portion of Chris' experience, I welcome it gladly. Especially because it's an integral part of him and introduces some experiences that other pre-teens won't have to deal with which can change how Chris reacts/deals with situations.
What I can accurately talk about though is the things I've noticed in my brother as he goes through this phase of his life. I can also compare his experiences to what I remember from when I was his age, and I'm noticing he's going through certain things that I went through too. I know everyone is different, but hopefully this insight can help some people begin to understand Chris as he is now.
Now, on top of all the slow but noticeable bodily changes, these little sass masters are emotionally volatile. As in, the littlest things seem to be the end of the world. Especially if he's (my brother) is overtired. He tends to have tunnel vision, and he wants things to go his way. If it doesn't immediately go as planned, he tends to get very very frustrated. When that happens, he tends to blow up then go into his room until he's calmed down. After he's calm, then productive conversation can happen.
Kids Chris' age also tend to enjoy video games (like Roblox, or console games) more than they do coloring or legos or any physical toy. Not saying my brother has stopped playing with them all together, but it's definitely slowed down. If he were to play with legos, it'd more likely be a complicated lego set. Or complicated arts and crafts. His most recent projects being origami swords and origami paper dragons. Like, please don't forget that Chris is a good artist and is capable of drawing accurate human hearts.
I've also noticed that kids will go through a collecting phase. They'll collect anything and everything and it'll be the weirdest shit you could never predict. My brother when he was a bit younger literally stole every single sock in the house for his "sock collection" and stuffed an entire drawer full of them. Now he's moved on to collecting golf balls.
And, whether we like it or not, these kids are on the internet. My brother at least is very very influenced by online trends. Half the things he's interested in he saw on social media first. But that means that these kids have a rich meme culture. They have their own in jokes and concepts, same as we did growing up. And sure, some of the jokes are the same. I mean heck, my brother won't shut up with the "your mom" jokes, but they also have things like skibbidy toilet, chippi chippi choppa choppa, and other memes. (I have a list of current tween memes in my notes, but that can be a separate post if people truly want it)
Like it's such a missed funny opportunity! To have Chris reference current memes or current sayings like "gyot, what the sigma, and womp womp," and just having every single adult within the immediate vicinity be confused as fuck, and of course the kids won't explain, because why would they. It's funny to them that the adults are confused. Which also pairs with the amount of sass contained in their tiny orifices. Their come backs are insane and not to be trifled with. My brother has burned me so many times and so well that for all intents and purposes I should be a pile of ash on floor, honestly and truly.
Now, when it comes to romance, I have no idea when that changes. I think Chris is around 14 in the most recent season? And he's gone through a little heartbreaker phase, but currently, my brother at 12 is absolutely disgusted by romance. I myself am demisexual so I'm not a good reference for that, and can't really comment on when people start feeling attraction for others. But considering it's being portrayed in the show, I think it could be something to lean into as well.
All of this to say, Chris won't be this picture perfect baby all of the time. He'll get angry, frustrated, sad. Give people the silent treatment. He'll be weird and strange and say stupid shit. He'll also probably occasionally get confused over certain sayings he's never heard before. (E.g similes commonly used in writing) He'll try to get out of chores, and homework, and he'll whine and complain. His body is changing, he's probably experiencing growing pains, and he's probably starting to discover more adult things. But he'll also have his moments of insightfulness and humor. He's a little adult! And he should be allowed to be portrayed that way! Let Chris be a multidimensional character! It's what he deserves! And just to make it clear, this goes for every pre-teen on 911. I've just noticed the infantilisation of Chris a lot more than say Denny.
Please let me know your thoughts on this matter! I'd love to hear them! Have a wonderful day!

Sweet Siren
Yang Jeongi x Reader(afab)
🍰🍬 - fluffy and suggestive;)
Tumblr media
Authors note: My first I.N fic and I was absolutely terrified while making it because I didn't want to portray him wrong. However if he does seem a little oc, I apologize in advance and I'll get better🫡 I also want to warn that I've never been to a fanmeet before so I'm just sort of going off of what I've been told and what I've seen online.
I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: reader is referred to as “Princess”, slight grinding and very little making out, intercourse implied at the end
Triggers: N/A
Tumblr media
A fanmeet. That's what this was called apparently. Your friend had been talking about it for months now. She had won two tickets in a raffle but none of her other friends agreed to go, you were the only one who said yes.
You adored your friend, she had been there for you many times when you needed her, and had helped pick you help when you hit rock bottom.
The least you could do is go to a fanmeet with her for one of those hundreds of kpop groups she adored. There was no doubt nothing could go wrong with this. Right….?
You knew the name of the group and the name of the members from the thousands of times she had told you. Driving it into your head so you wouldn't forget when you had conversations about them.
The members were attractive, and as far as you knew they had some pretty good songs. Nothing that truly caught your eye. You were more of a kpop pirate-group kinda gal. That's right. You knew kpop. Very few, but you knew a few groups. Ateez was top of your list though.
The line wasn't going very long so the waiting was boring, but seeing the smile on your friends face was making it worth it. She had never been this happy about anything before, as far as you had seen.
You had gotten so wrapped up in your thoughts that you didn't realize it was your duos turn. The squeal-like noise your friend let out almost made you crack up from how out of place it sounded.
Watching her walk on up to the first member, he had faded salmon-y pink hair and beautiful sharp cat-like eyes. She spoke about this one often. What was his name? Oh right. Hyunjin.
You didn't think meeting with each member would go so quickly but before you knew it you were sitting down in front of the last one, the youngest one. His name was Jeongin, but everyone called him I.N
Out of all the members she had spoken about over the years, he was your favorite. It wasn't just about his looks though. He was very talented and at such a young age he became part of one of the biggest kpop boy groups.
His voice when he spoke was so different from his singing voice. When he sang, he sounded like a siren pulling you in slowly to take you away to the depths of the ocean. When he spoke, he made you want to reach out and squish his cheeks.
This boy was absolutely adorable. From his fluffy dark hair, to his smile that reminded you of a precious angel who left earth too soon, to his biceps that were sprinkled with body glitter, then to his- wait. Biceps.
You hadn't realized before in his photos or videos, but boy was he packing some muscle. Eyes lingering on his arms for a moment too long, his voice pulling you from your trance.
“ hiii, whats your name? ”
Looking up to him, mouth slightly open for a moment before speaking up and answering his question.
“ that's a beautiful name. have you got anything for me to sign? ”
Nodding slowly you passed him the album and hoodie you had bought just earlier at a table selling merch. Watching him right out his signature.
“ you're beautiful. ”, the words tumbled out of your mouth too quickly, you hadn't realized what you were saying until you had said it. A hot blaze of blush settling across your cheeks.
“ oh really? ”, a smirk adoring his lips as he asked you. Watching you nod slowly before he leant closer to you.
“ you're very beautiful as well. ”, a wink. Something that caused you an internal panic attack because he was just so close to you. If you had leaned forward, you were sure your lips would touch his. Staring into his eyes nervously.
Letting out an almost shaky breath of relief when he finally pulled back and passed you your things. Giving you another bright smile and a small hug as he said bye.
“ it was very nice to meet you, princess. ”, nodding shyly, you stood from your seat and walked on over to your friend rather quickly. Your heart was beating fast and you could swear you felt his eyes still on your body as you walked away.
When you both had made your way to a sort of rest stop area, you heard a loud voice booming in the room you had just left. The voice was mentioning something about the group taking a short break before they'd be back.
You were waiting outside the bathroom waiting for your friend, telling a security guard that you were waiting on someone when he tried to lead you away with a group of other fans. Not understanding why he was doing so until you saw the idols pass by to go to the rest room as well.
All but one. One of the idols wasn't following the rest of the group into the bathroom. The youngest. Stood in front of you staring you down. That damn smirk on his lips again as he stared deep into your eyes.
Within just seconds you were pressed up against the locked door of the bathroom your best friend was in. A gasp escaping your lips as you stared up at him. How had you gotten yourself into a position like this?
At first you thought maybe you had accidentally fainted. When you felt his lips pressed against yours though, you knew you were awake and well.
Well? You wouldn't quite call it that anymore because when his tongue prodded against your lips, your heart almost stopped.
Arms coming up to wrap around his neck, you pressed closer to him. Your lips molding together just right, almost as if you were made for him. He tasted faintly like coconut or maybe vanilla lip balm and smelled of….matcha?
That's right. You had seen him drinking a matcha latte before the fanmeet had officially started. He had good taste in drinks. Matcha lattes were a classic.
Letting out a soft gasp into the kiss when you felt his knee slot between your legs. Feeling his bulge press gently against your thigh. Unable to resist the urge and grinding in sync with him slowly.
Breathing slightly labored from the intense feeling and his lips constantly pressed against yours. You could get used to this forever. You knew you wouldn't be able to though, so you held onto it for now.
When your friend suddenly unlocked the door your “attacker” pulled from you. Slipping something into your hand and winking at you before he finally entered the bathroom his friends had went into. Leaving you feeling fuzzy inside. Your lips slightly swollen from the kiss-attack.
Slipping the paper into your pocket and giving your friend a smile as she walked out. Following her along to the exit of the building. Glancing back at the hall where you had just made out with the idol.
Once in the car, you made sure your friend was unable to see what you were doing because you knew it would be all over if she saw the note. Reading over it with a blush fanning back over your cheeks and all the way up to your ears.
    “ xxx-xxx-xxx ♡
I'll be waiting for your call tonight.
                         — xoxo, Jeongin. ”
Would you call him? Would you run the risk of a scandal coming out? Would you be a idols possible fwb?
Of course you were going to call him. You'd be stupid not to.

All of Taylor's albums were tailored to the most popular aesthetic at the time. She didn't make shit popular, she just adapted. Especially when she made the transition into pop music.
True. She's currently jumping fences with rep as well. Making it out to be a goth punk moment and using trendy words like 'female rage'. The album has the most romantic songs she's ever written. C'mon now. The whole record is electropop with some R&B elements thrown into the mix.
She portrays 'Lover' as her social justice warrior era. 'If I was a man, then I'd be the man'. Yeah, we've seen it Taylor. Miss 'me becoming a billionaire is good for the world because I'm a woman'. She makes herself out to be this 'feminist girl's girl' when in reality it couldn't be further from the truth. She's not a feminist and she doesn't want to be the woman that's advocating for women's rights and leads the path for the future generation of women. She wants to be the man at the top. Her motto is literally 'gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss, greenhouse gases'.
Another thing is her queer allyship. She's mentioned it when and only when it was profitable to her. During her tour she hadn't said a thing when the number of states signed anti-trans bills and the state of Tennessee where she says she lives *according to her own documentary* banned drag. I don't think she said anything about the anti-abortion legislation either. Her activist era started and ended in 2019.
Don't get me started on her position regarding the BLM movement. She only posted something because her own fans started calling her out and then declared that she's 'ferociously anti-racist'. She positioned herself as an advocate *by herself* and then immediately dipped when it stopped being as profitable. If you don't want to be dragged for your silence about social and political crises, don't proclaim yourself as an activist. Simple as that.
I've also seen the video on Youtube about TS being a narcissist (someone posted it on your blog earlier I think). And the guy in the video brought up her guitar teacher. So I looked him up and found an article where he talks about his experience with the Swifts which he got sued for later. According to the man, Taylor's mother was interested in him teaching her daughter how to play country music and was just a stage mom in general. And TS says that she'd been begging her parents to allow her learn how to play guitar and that she's self-taught. She wants her success story to be a rags to riches so bad I can't even.
She's a woman with an extremely fragile ego where millions of people could be praising her and a single negative comment would set her off. She can't handle any form of criticism, break ups or inconveniences like a grown woman simply because she doesn't have enough emotional intelligence to do so. Her being surrounded by yes men also doesn't help the situation. If i were her, I'd rather invest in a good therapist rather than 2 PJs. She drowns herself in work and relationships so she doesn't have time to go inwards and sit with her thoughts.
I kinda feel bad for her, honestly. She's been in the industry since she was 15 and her success was almost immediate. She doesn't know what the world's like because she's been sheltered her whole life and then had other people do things for her. I don't think she has many real friends as well. By real I mean people who aren't afraid to tell you the truth and are able to call you out in your face. Instead she has a bunch of people who appease her afraid of pissing her off and ending up on her bad side and as a result her vanity grows and she completely loses any sort of perspective whether in her friendships, romantic relationships or maybe even her own family.
I also wonder what she thinks about her fandom pirating her concert film instead of paying to rent it. I sort of hope that her fans are starting to wake up to her conning schemes. I mean, you've already made a shit ton of money from the theatre release, why charging 20$ more to RENT IT?Not even buy it. Or is it another narrative about how 'no one can own my work but me'?
This woman sells well but her cultural impact is almost nonexistent. She hadn't done any good for the world causes or inspired several generations of performers like Michael Jackson has with his philanthropic endeavors and incredible performing skills. The artists like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake (bleh) and The Weeknd were hugely influenced by MJ. These artist create their own unique legacy and impact on their communities. Especially the ladies. Gaga's been an avid LGBT+ advocate since the beginning of her career and created a foundation that focuses on issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development. She also participated in anti HIV and AIDS campaigns, spoke against immigration laws in the US, contributed to 2011's earthquake and tsunami relief campaign in Japan. Beyoncé's a huge advocate for the black community and black women especially which always finds its way in her work and visual art in particular. She's been platforming black culture and history for her whole career (2016 Superbowl and Coachella performance are the brightest examples of black american culture and releasing her Lion King album to showcase African artists' excellence). She also has a foundation where she provides black youth scholarships, clean water for communities abroad and housing to families in need in her home state.
What exactly makes Taylor Swift's cultural impact? Thousands of tons CO2 emissions? Music labels putting a clause in the contract so the artists can't re-record their material for 10 years now instead of 5? Making several versions of the same CD or vinyl so the sales are bigger? Mind you, that's all excessive plastic and paper. Some countries and US states are banning gas stoves. Her position regarding artists being paid during the early days of streaming (when the platforms were launching with a free period tial) was right but no one really benefited from it but her. She was shitting on Apple Music, then they offered her money, filmed an ad and released her 1989 Tour DVD exclusively on their platform. She shat on Spotify, then when LWYMMD came out, she was all over their biggest playlists all of a sudden and recorded Spotify Singles later on. Spotify's always promoted her every release like a motherfucker shoving her in every corner of the platform. Especially for the past 3 years. She doesn't have any memorable outfits or unique style to be called a fashion icon either. She's not a trailblazer she thinks she is. She is only popular because a lot of people *mostly ww* who peaked in high school see themselves in her. She's average in everything she does, her writing topes are also the same (only now she started using compound or uncommonly used words to mask it) but she's extremely commercially successful so that those people can see themselves in her. She doesn't have unique music style or chameleon-like discography like Gaga, Bey, MJ, Madonna, Shakira, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus or Nelly Furtado. She doesn't have a unique singing voice like Bjork, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Janis Joplin, MJ or Bob Dylan. She's no instrument prodigy either. And swifties say that 'Michael couldn't play any instruments'. Well, he was an exceptional beatboxer. She can strum 4 guitar chords and play basic piano, that's it. She doesn't have an outstanding dancing and/or vocal skill.
What is she gonna be remembered for? Her numerous relationships with famous men? While that might be misogynistic or sexist to some degree, she's the one who makes her relationships the centre of her music and public persona and brings them up even 10 years after they ended. Her public feuds with men and women that she can't get over years after? This woman is certainly can hold a grudge and is extremely vindictive. The leader of a parasocial cult that blindly defends her bigotry? I believe so. I don't think I've ever seen a fandom as toxic and as hive-minded as swifties. And again, it's Taylor's own creation. She's the one that constantly says 'look closely for the easter eggs' in her content making her fans theorize on every aspect of her life, or 'if you're very loyal I might invite you to MY HOUSE and you can listen to the new album early, we'll take pics and I'll bake you some cookies'. Of course they'll follow your any order. I'm glad I escaped.
Oof, I'll stop here. That's a very long one already
sorry hehe

helloooo!! ❤️ can i request some headcanons for jisungs (nct) first relationship? like how would he act, how would he show affection etc etc :))) i really loved your “things he reminds me of’” post, it was so cute and the jisung hickey part made me wonder what his first relationship would be like ☺️☺️ thank you!!
a/n: hihi! thank u so much for requesting (and for the love, mwah) <3 i hope you like this little word vomit lol :) [ps. i hope ur ok w me putting nsfw content at the end - lmk if u want me to publish a version w/o the nsfw at all]
tags: fluff, headcanons of jisung being a frat boi pledge oops, i'm realizing how unfortunately realistic i feel like i portray these boys, tw: nsfw content (mentions of handjobs, giving head)
word count: 1k
Tumblr media
gif credits: @chenleemark
jisung's first relationship would be...
surprisingly normal
i feel like a lot of people headcanon jisung as a shy, flustered almost mousey person
and i can see why (jwisung)
but i think that that image is something that was carefully and deliberately crafted (and perhaps something that he eventually grow into a little more)
SO, i feel like this is rlly controversial, i feel like in jisung's first relationship, he would be kinda just frat boi af
like you know that vibe that pledges in a frat have, where they think they're hot shit bc they're 'in a frat' and then they realize that they're a...pledge. like they're at the bottom of the food chain
that's so american i'm so sorry
but that's vibes he gives me
i feel like in his first relationship, he thinks he knows everything. like he thinks he is the king of relationships and he thinks he is the Ultimate Boyfriend (even tho he cringes a little when he hears the word boyfriend irl)
but he's not
it's his first relationship
and i feel like there would be a lot. to unpack.
for example! jisung would constantly be running away in a relationship
especially for the first time that he's in a relationship, you constantly have to chase after him and hope that he's finally gonna open up to you
jisung just has so many layers
as a person
that every time you think you've finally cracked him, he does a 180 on you and gives you a whole new personality to deal with
bc jisung just doesn't do traditional romance
he kinda doesn't understand it but he's also such a romantic that when it comes to real life and when he realizes that real life is a lot messier than romance novels, he just kinda freezes
like he knows you're his s/o but not his S/O™️ if that makes sense
so he'd kinda just act like you're his bestie (that he likes to make out with) until he finally starts to open up and unravel his feelings
jisung's first relationship is a lot of navigating between his mood swings of "I Am The Only Boyfriend. I am God." and "fuck bro i just like to have sex w you and talk abt deep shit"
before he finally realizes that he is not, in fact, god. and that bro is not romantic but he gets away w it bc you're chill like that
he would grow a lot in a relationship fosho
he learns to expand his world from the world in his head to one where you're in it too
jisung would just greet you with a super steamy kiss (bc istg i don't care if this is his first relationship, i just know he's a good kisser) and then ask you if his hat was fly enough to wear in the dance practice video
that's just how he works tbh
but jisung is very observant
for all of his interesting habits, jisung will pick up in 30 seconds flat if smth abt you is off
whether he shows it or not, he pays a lot of attention to you and your habits and will literally sit down for hours and analyze if you hated his guts and wanted to break up w him if you said hi a half note lower than you usually did
and oftentimes, he would be right
i mean obviously, you don't hate his guts and you definitely didn't want to break up w him
but if you were having a bad day, no matter how well you concealed it, jisung would know
i feel like that's the one thing that keeps him being a good boyfriend in the beginning of the relationship
he's so good at reading body language and looking at small details that he never fails to pick up on slight changes
almost to the extent where you think he's reading your mind
but on the flipside jisung is hard to read at first
like i said, he's just got so much going on in his head that you're almost unsure which side of jisung you're dealing w
but as you guys mature together, he definitely opens up a lot more and you're able to read him almost as well as he reads you
NSFW CONTENT BELOW.
but beyond just in your sfw relationship, jisung would be equally attentive in the bedroom
i feel like jisung is a more experimental person than ppl realize
like he truly enjoys pleasureful experiences and he will watch your every microexpression to make sure you're having as much fun as he is
that being said
i think jisung is more of a receiver than a giver
but not by much
like a 60 - 40 split
and the main advantage comes with handjobs
idk what it is abt them
but i feel like jisung would find out very early into the relationships that he rlly likes handjobs
his first relationship is full of exploring himself and what he enjoys as well as exploring you(r body) and what you enjoy
and handjobs are the one thing that he just cannot resist every single time
whenever you rlly give him a good one, LORD KNOWS that he will be going down on you and giving you the head you deserve
bc i feel like jisung wouldn't have too much control over his body in his first relationship, he would probably cum a lot sooner than he would like
and he hates cumming before you - whether it be for an ego reason or bc he feels guilty that he feels good and you don't, he just doesn't like it
so he learns to give good head (and i mean good head. like i would tie him with mark as the top head givers in nct dream) so that he can bring you right to the edge w him and you can cum together
overall, just a very interesting and growth filled experience where jisung and you both learn to love and grow together <3

i dont know if there's even a ppop presence on tumblr but i do also want to promote ALAMAT, a 6-member idol boy group from the Philippines. Its members comprise of Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomas, R-ji, and Alas. They debuted in 2021, and their creative direction centers on championing the Filipino identity and culture through their music.
sorry that ^ was a copypaste but it's a very useful and concise copypaste LOL but onto my own promo:
(note: also most of these videos have english subs!!)
(extra note bc this issue always pops up whenever locals encounter alamat: mo is always wearing black hairstyes bc he is blasian and not bc he is appropriating from black culture hdfjhdf)
youtube
KASMALA, the inverted Tagalog word for "strong" (malakas), is the MV that really did numbers on social media iirc. The video direction focused on the "human zoo" in the St. Louis' World Fair of 1904 (which included Filipinos specifically Igorots), and a general theme of anti-Filipino racism by white people (who are represented as ominous figures literally dressed in all white)
personal opinion: the music video is great but i personally think they have better songs, music-wise. and i'm going to give you an example of that by introducing you to my ALL-TIME FAVORITE ALAMAT SONG!!!
youtube
ILY ILY, a transliteration of "Ili-Ili Tulog Anay", incorporates the melody and lyrics of the Ilonggo lullaby it derives its title from. The MV and lyrics both work together to portray the experience of being an OFW/having an OFW parent. OFWs, or overseas Filipino workers, refer to Filipinos who go abroad in search of jobs that have better pay, so that they can remit money back to their families in the Philippines.
personal opinion: this is their best song THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG EVER OF ALL TIME and lyca gairanod is such a perfect singer for this. her ethereal crooning really gave me chills the first time i heard it UGH
youtube
DAYANG, the term for the wife of a Datu, is one of their most earworming songs ever. It's a gorgeous love song and what I would recommend to newbies if they want to get into alamat <3
personal opinion: The MV is kinda ass because it's just a super long extended ad for DITO PH (in terms of story and also bc they really missed out on doing a vid that drew more on culture esp bc dayang is a historical noble title and they used tausug words and designs for the graphics an the dance itself already incorporated pangasik dance which is also from the tausug people LIKEEE?? they've always promoted other cultures of the philippines i know they can do it but because of CAPITALISM--). But the song bangs so severely, as a pop enjoyer this is peak pop for me.
OH I ALMOST FORGOT DAGUNDONG
youtube
DAGUNDONG, a song basically recounting the colonial history of the Philippines from Spain to America, is just so fucking good you should watch/listen to it rn. There's EN subs don't worry you won't miss out on the context. This is colonial rage it's so satisfying I still remember where I was when they dropped this.
personal opinion: FOREVER OBSESSED WITH HOW THEY SAY "dahil puso mandirigma di papakutsa di papapugon" you guys have no idea how much i sing that line to myself sooo satisfying. Instant earworm this song i swear.
OK ONE LAST one last and i'm done. okay.
youtube
MAHARANI, a Sanskrit term for the wife of a Maharaja (translated as "great queen"), heavily features singkil, a Maranao dance which uses bamboo poles like tinikling does. The song also uses SEAsian instruments like kanun, gamelan, and gangsa. Also BINI's Jhoanna plays one of the main characters here!!!
personal opinion: this is their most pop-sounding song, which i think is slightly carried by the video i'm sorryyy. it's catchy though!! and i looove the part somewhere halfway where alas starts his verse, singing it in a more spoken-word way
___
okay 5 songs is. probably enough. this post is already kinda long shdfjskdff but yeah. pls check them out if you can hehe <3
also ppop idols are just really funny. there's no concept of an idol image so they just tweet shit. alamat jao gave out his genshin UID after a fan tweeted about having co-oped with him in genshin, and then after that he started answering questions with the hashtag "#canceljao" making a lot of magiliws (alamat fans) confused, and then he posted a classic iphone notes apology like this 😭
Tumblr media
i'll do a bini version after this my girls deserve more international hype. they occupy a more girlcrush pop genre but they're just as chaotic as alamat if not even more 😭 there are entire THREADS on twitter of them just being hilarious jdhfkshgf i love them so much
thanks for reading <3
