everyone knew you had a thing for ace, it was no secret.

you always asked to be partners in projects, always coming over to his house, and always finding excuses to be close to each other. so when ace finally found out, he was ecstatic.

"holy shit, [y/n] likes me?" sabo rolled his eyes, frowning. "didn't you know? it's obvious as hell." ace shakes his head, slightly flustered. he always thought you were cute but he never thought you'd fall for someone like him. luffy chewed on his granola bar, smacking loudly. "so are you guys getting married?" ace screeched, glowing red. "no, what the hell? that's for grown ups, luffy!" sabo snapped his fingers, bringing ace's attention back to him. "so what're you going to do now with this information?" ace shrugs, rubbing the back of his head. "ask her out, i guess." luffy raises his hand, grinning.

"there's a dance this friday after school, how about you ask her to the dance!"

so that's how ace got here, standing in the middle of the hallway with a bouquet of roses in his hand and a teddy bear in the other. sabo looked around the corner, before turning back around with a whisper-shout. "here she comes! get ready!" sabo and luffy rush to hide, while ace gulps down his nervousness. he can hear your sweet giggles down the hallway, chatting with your friends. he could listen to you all day.

you finally turn the corner, stopping in your tracks. there stood portgas d. ace, your close friend, holding a bouquet of flowers for god knows who. your group whispered amongst themselves, before nudging you forward. ace grins sheepishly at you, before holding the items out to you. quirking an eyebrow up, you question him. "what's this all about?" with a shaky breath, he answers -

"do you wanna go to the dance with me this friday?"

your friends squeal, obviously taking videos capturing the cute moment. you smile, cheeks warming a shade of red. "of course, ace." you grab the items and wrap your arms around him. he smiled into your shoulder, arms snaking around your back. he felt like he had finally won at life.

the day of the dance had finally come around, leaving ace anxious. does he look good? does he look stupid? why wasn't his hair cooperating, damn it! as he continued to fuss over his appearance, a looming figure crosses over him.

"ace?"

the raven-haired boy shrieks, spinning around. it was that damn old man, garp. he laughs at the younger boy, arms crossed over his chest. ace grumbles, pouting slightly. "can you not sneak up on me? i'm busy right now, grandpa." the older man shakes his head. "what's got you so worked up?" ace brushes through his hair, a soft blush collecting on his face. should he tell him? nah, he'll embarrass him even more -

"ace is going to the dance with his girlfriend." luffy speaks between chewing, a piece of chicken in his hand. "fuck you!" ace barks, stomping away to his room. he can hear garp's boisterous laugh from downstairs, taunting him.

"do you really need to drive me to the dance?" ace was currently sitting in the back of garp's car, arms crossed pathetically. garp shakes his head. "no, but i just wanna see yer little girlfriend." he grins, flashing his teeth in the rear view mirror. ace sneers at him. "why? you've met her before, it's [y/n]." garp's eyes widen, grin deepening. "her? that sweet girl? why'd she go as low as you?" ace is about to go off on him, before feeling a buzz in his pocket. snatching his phone out of his pocket, his face lights up at the text displayed.

he melted at your text, responding with a heart. garp looks at the boy through the mirror, smirking. "she textin' you?" ace nods, eyes never leaving his screen.

ace hops out of the car, waving goodbye to garp. "bye? i still need to take picture of you two, you're growing up real fast, ace!" grumbling, ace rubs his face. why did he need to keep embarrassing him? "ace, over here!" there it was, that sweet voice. the one he could listen to all day. his head snapped in the other direction, catching you in your dress, jaw dropping. you looked gorgeous.

"ace, go pose with your girlfriend!" garp smacks him on the back, sending him forward. "s-she's not my girlfriend, grandpa!" ace growls, standing next to you reluctantly. garp waltz over, a grin plastered on his bearded face. "you look lovely, [y/n]." you smile, shyly tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. "thank you, sir." he chuckles.

"just call me garp, sweetheart."

you blush, watching him position his phone before taking the picture. "you both look great, less ace though."

"whatever, you can go now!" ace ushers him back to the car. "i'll be back to pick you up, see you kids later." he winks at you before finally driving off. ace sighs, relieved, turning back to you. "[y/n]? you okay?" you have a dazed look on your face, a bright red dusting your cheeks. "ace."

"your grandpa is so fucking hot."

his face dropped, eyes widening in horror.

maybe that's why you always wanted to go to ace's house, to see garp, not him.

Okay so a kinda OP 1089 live post as I watch. This is from the perspective of a manga reader so anime only's if you come across this I might hint or talk about something that couod ruin the experience, so beware!

-First of all omfg that opening. So amazing. I remember seeing a tweet from one of the animation staff lamenting that they felt their work was gonna be invalidated. If anything, I hope they see the love people pour into it on a weekly basis and how we enjoy the journey alongside them. Like i think the remakes gonna be amazing for new viewers but the weekly release really gives us the leisure of adventure. It lets us bask instead of throwing us into a plot heavy rush.

-And nothing proves that better than the extended look at the strawhats as they discuss luffys dreams. Their expressions and thoughts. Just those extra seconds of living with the characters was so fun. Also it makes me so curious about Luffys dream once again. Ok so like he has to be the king of the pirates to achieve it right? So the free-est person on the sea? What could be beyond that? Free-est person in the universe? Are we getting space hopping Luffy?

-And then the gorosei talking about it being Sabos destiny that he is there. Hmmm. Ive been thinking about destiny recently and its really interesting how that comment lines up with my thoughts.

-and lulusia! The king is literally Vlad the impaler. And the mother flame impales the land. Makes me wonder if Mihawks from there. Also, what a horrific sequence.

-can't forget to mention that Sabo's transponder has a scar! Idk if this is a popular theory or idea but seeing him in colour really makes me want him to awaken blues flames, something that burns hotter thans ace.

-omg the eyecatchers(is that what they're called?the things in the middle of the episode. Where they cut for ads. Its been so long since ive watched anime properly, im sorry 😭) Are so adorable!

-the banter between zoro and Sanji! The crew working the ship! Love!

-but like also this reminds me why I love Sanji and Zoro as the wings. Sanji is the tactics and Zoro is the reason. Both things luffy lacks. And even extending to the rest of the east blue crew, Nami appeals to a heart and will, remember the Cracker fight. And her whole existence in supporting her village was about her strength of will. And Ussop represents both caution and bravery. Just as much a willingness to stick back and observe as with Sugar as dive in like GOD Ussop. They're facets that Luffy's never had.

-ahh my son Chopper is so cute! And robin 😍. And Luffys red nose and cheeks! Sorry for being a canadian but ah I miss winter! This probably comes from a lack of diversity in my found family exposure but the Straw Hats sure seem distinct in not having age influence how they bond/relate to each other.

Some of it probably comes from the fact that the second youngest member (Luffy*) is technically the person ultimately in charge, but beyond that...

Like similar aged shipmates vibe in certain ways, but being older doesn’t necessitate that the younger shipmates see or treat them as if they are older e.g. pseudo parental.

So. B and A getting super high together. B has an insanely high tolerance and A only smokes maybe once or twice a semester, if studying allows. A has a Horrible high and is super on edge and anxious, but B makes them feel really safe so they're not completely bugging out. B is just vibin' and having fun, but also being a bit of a Shit Disturber. Keeps bringing up creepypastas and A ends up sitting snuggled up super close to B on the couch with their arm around B's. A being all "heyy this is getting really scary :(" and B being like "haha, oh I'm so sorry~. We can talk about something else..." and A getting relaxed and :). But then B interjects: " So yeah... you know The Bathroom Head?" and A shoves him and is all ">:((!!!! LISTEN!!! ITS SO SCARY, OKAY!! I HATE YOU!!!" THIS IS YOUR FAULT FOR MAKING ME THINK ABOUT TRANSFORMERS AGAIN its one of my favourite franchises bc there are really NOT MANY characters who i am neutral on or dont like. ive singled out dozens of tf characters over the years to be the fave for a bit and rotated them in my brain for a few months, its actually easier to list the characters that i dont like than the ones i do. i do have some favs but theres stil like. 10 that i couldnt choose between. probably soundwave, sunstreaker, ratchet, vortex, deathsaurs, tracks, steeljaw (rid), spinister (idw), perceptor, fort max, skywarp, thATS MORE THAN 10 ALREADY BUT U GET IT

i actually have 5-6 a4 notebooks just FULL of transformers drawings, little comics of g1 episodes and character designs and stuff, its all from a few years ago before i started digital art but i should really redraw some of it bc ill never get tired of transformers.

and actually, i was wondering what to draw today so MAYBE some transformers stuff. i loved g1 for how absolutely insane it was, ive never seen a show with so many lines said like jokes that were just. not jokes and usually made GENUINELY no sense. not sure i ever laughed at a joke in that show but i do remember being in literal tears over animation errors, wild lines, weird noises, and plotlines that make no sense whatsoever. do not watch g1 with hopes of getting it, but i do watch it to laugh at the show itself
