when you know no more
when you're tired and so worn
when you gobble up all your fears
that is when her flower blooms
feeling spring in cold winter
feeling warm in a cold dark lair
opening up to being tamed and
she swore she would stay
but winter has her in his grasp
with him you spend
all your love and your share
and you leave me with just
an other worldly reverence
.......
one of my favourite poems I have ever written. this could be interpreted as a message from goddess demeter to persephone. winter represents hades aka God of the underworld. spring represents persephone. this could also be taken as a Sapphic relationship breaking or simply seasonal depression. I hope you like it! 🌾🌸🍇

Ceres asteroid
Ceres, originally an asteroid and now considered a Dwarf Planet by astronomers, plays a pivotal role in astrology. Often associated with nurturing, attachment, and self-care, Ceres sheds light on our relationships and well-being. This celestial body's placement in your birth chart unveils how you express love, seek support, and approach finances, offering valuable insights into your personal growth and nurturing style. Ceres symbolizes the natural world, the ever-changing rhythms of the seasons, womanhood, fertility, parenting, and reproduction. Ceres, also known as Demeter in Greek mythology, is the goddess of agriculture and motherly relationships. The myth centers around her daughter, Persephone in Greek Mythology.  While often relevant within a 1-3º orb with Natal Planets, Ceres provides insights based on House and Sign placement, addressing key aspects of our relationships and well-being.
Ceres in signs
Ceres in Aries: you possess a strong sense of self-sufficiency and independence, often relying on your inner drive to support both yourself and those around you. You tend to seize opportunities with enthusiasm and speed. However, it's important to approach impulsiveness and anger with mindfulness, as they can occasionally affect your self-care. Sports and competition boost your well-being. In relationships, you seek partners who empower you and ignite your fearless spirit.
Ceres in Taurus: you're the dependable and stable force in your loved ones' lives, working hard to create a comfortable future for them. You seek partners who can provide abundance and completeness. Nurturing, for you, is all about physical touch and creating a cozy environment. With Ceres feeling right at home in Taurus, you excel at building long-lasting abundance and using resources wisely. You may find joy in supporting others materially and have a deep connection to the physical world, your senses, and the pleasures of life, especially through food and nature.
Ceres in Gemini: you're drawn to a partner who can intellectually stimulate and inspire your growth through meaningful communication and learning. Nurturing your mind is essential, and you may find joy in acquiring knowledge, mastering various subjects, or simply using your mental energy wisely. However, remember not to push yourself too hard to prevent burnout. You excel at providing mental support, especially to younger individuals, and your natural gift for teaching and effective communication shines through.
Ceres in Cancer: taking care of your emotional well-being is crucial, and having a strong support system is key to feeling fulfilled. While you may have physical comforts, they can feel empty without sufficient emotional fulfillment. You tend to be exceptionally supportive of others emotionally, sometimes giving more than receiving, which should be balanced. A stable home and family life are vital for your personal growth. You prioritize creature comforts like being at home and cooking, focusing on stability and connections in life.
Ceres in Leo: you're a motivated go-getter who pursues your desires with determination. You're attracted to bold and confident partners who earn your respect and admiration, providing you with a sense of confidence. Your creative side is a source of self-nurturing, and it offers opportunities for the attention you crave. Supporting and encouraging children, whether your own or others, brings you fulfillment, and your hobbies provide solace and support. It's essential to address any issues related to your need for attention, as self-expression, recognition, and love are fundamental to your growth and success.
Ceres in Virgo: you embody devotion and nurturing, using your intellect and practicality to create a caring environment for loved ones. In relationships, you're loyal and go to great lengths for your partner, seeking empowerment, avoid any situations where you might be taken for granted. Your path to growth involves competence, self-discipline, and a quest for excellence. You find comfort in well-organized settings, and maintaining daily routines plays a vital role in nurturing yourself. You express support through subtle acts of kindness. However, it's essential to address any tendencies towards perfectionism and self-criticism, as they can sometimes affect your self-confidence.
Ceres in Libra: you bring patience and nurturing to your relationships, cherishing the importance of love and care. You seek partners who inspire your independence. Beauty, grace, and cooperation are your guiding principles, and you find deep fulfillment in meaningful connections with people you profoundly respect. It's vital for you to maintain a balance in giving and receiving support. Your strong suits include negotiation, compromise, and mediation, which play a significant role in fostering harmony in your relationships.
Ceres in Scorpio: you possess a natural gift for nurturing and empowering those around you, uplifting them and making them recognize their self-worth. In relationships, you seek loyalty and trust, as these qualities are essential for your sense of strength and security. Your path to growth centers on deep, intimate connections with others, emphasizing self-empowerment. However, remember to reserve some for yourself and maintain a balance in giving and receiving. Intimacy plays a crucial role in boosting your confidence, and you thrive in relationships marked by strong physical and emotional bonds.
Ceres in Sagittarius: Your journey to growth and success involves the freedom to expand your horizons and explore the philosophies, religions, laws, and cultures of the world, fostering a deep connection to the world's diverse perspectives. Your nurturing style can vary; you may either find it challenging to provide support due to your desire for personal space or offer substantial support to others, often excelling as a mentor or through effective communication. In relationships, you seek someone who can ignite your passion for exploration and provide you with knowledge, empowering you to stand up for your beliefs.
Ceres in Capricorn: in relationships, you seek a partner who supports your goals and ambitions, providing stability and encouragement to help you achieve success. Your sense of nourishment often comes from pursuing your goals, and while you may not have felt fully supported in your younger years, you tend to amass resources and security as you grow older. Nonetheless, it's crucial to strike a balance and avoid overburdening yourself with excessive responsibilities, especially in supporting others. Remember to care for yourself along the way.
Ceres in Aquarius: you're here to champion change and support the collective good. In your relationships, you seek partners who share your vision of making positive contributions to society, and their unwavering support fuels your drive for revolution. Your personal growth path centers on nurturing your uniqueness and embracing your individuality. Your friends are a crucial source of support, and your involvement in meaningful causes empowers you to impact the lives of others positively. However, you might need to work on connecting more deeply with your emotions and reducing any tendencies toward emotional detachment to strengthen your relationships.
Ceres in Pisces: that's you – the empathetic soul. You've walked in others' shoes, and your love fiercely shields your dear ones from life's harshness. In love, you seek someone who can keep you grounded, as you tend to escape into a vibrant world to evade the darkness of reality. For you, growth and success come from your wellspring of compassion, unwavering faith, and trust. You're the ultimate caregiver, often putting others' needs before your own. Remember, it's okay to prioritize yourself and embrace self-care.

I don’t know if I wanna give this to supergiant as a win on their part because I am not at all convinced this is intentional within the text, but I wanna muse about it anyway. The silent, permeating truth that gods cannot be good parents is everywhere in this world, and this version of the myth, and it’s incredibly interesting.
Think of every parent we know of in his game. They’re all miserable, to different degrees and in different ways, but they are. Zeus, obviously sucks. Hera sucks. Hades, really fucking sucks. Persephone sucks. Demeater, in her daughter’s opinion, sucks. Chronos sucks so fucking badly that there’s an entire sequel game dedicated to his shit parenting and its resurgence. I’m sure any other parent I’m missing sucks as well.
Bottom line, gods are bad parents.
And there’s an incredibly intresting concept at work here, something I’m sure myth reflects as well, that gods and immortal divine beings cannot be parents. Or rather, shouldn’t be parents.
Being a parent is, even if unconsciously, sowing your seeds and hoping it’ll root even when you aren’t around to see the fruits of your labor. Immortality doesn’t allow for that objectivity, for that distance, that impermanence needed to really put your all into your children. It doesn’t help that, in the case of Nyx, a single god can foster a little league baseball team worth of children.
There’s a degree of selflessness needed to be a parent, let alone a good one, and beings enriched with divinity are inherently selfish by nature. Nothing worshiped can be a wholly selfless being. Nothing immortal can pass on their line, and their importance, to the needed level for any child to flourish.
Which is to say, it’s telling the only person so far, that we know of, who’s been anything sort of loving or motherly has been hectate. It could be said as well that achillies was more of a father to zagreus then Hades ever was, which I’d agree with, and it’s also telling the shades (mortals) are the most compassionate.
Maybe hades is a cautionary tale? It probably isn’t. But this silent world building is incredibly fun

HEADCANNON!!!
I know it’s shown that Persephone isn’t exactly happy about Nico at the start- but in TSATS she seems like she loves him, so here are my Persephone and Hades headcannons!!
-Persephone will never be Nico’s biological mum, and they all respect that, but she is still the best mum Nico has. Nico felt guilty about this at first, he didn’t want to disrespect his mum because he loved her so much and she did everything she could for him and Bianca; but at the end of the day she’s gone. Eventually, Nico learned that his mum would want him to be happy, so he embraced Persephone’s motherly love- and she’s the best.
She’s the type of mum who gossips with you like you’re her best friend, but also hugs you when you’re sick. She makes the best breakfast and she always manages to take the most embarrassing photos and sticks them on the fridge. She never misses a birthday, an anniversary or activity her child has.
-Hades is the most loving (technically second to Persephone) godly parent.
He’s the only one who actually lives with his Demi-god child, he talks to him and even wishes him well when other godly parents would ignore there children.
Hades has a whole section of his palace built to look as close to Italian as possible, just for Nico. This is also where Nico’s room is. Hades likes to talk to Nico, they have dinner together and even have a family game night. Hades teaches Nico how to use his powers in a more efficient and affective way, and helps train him to fight against actual monsters.
It turns out it’s easy to avoid all the ‘rules’ of what you can’t tell your Demi-god children, when you’re just having a normal conversation, and not talking about battle plans.
-Persephone picks Nico up from camp when he has to come home for the holidays. And she wouldn’t say her main mission is to embarrass Nico, but she definitely isn’t sad about the fact her stepsons cheeks turn a dark red and he whisper-yells “mum please, let’s just go!” when all the other kids start looking at them. I mean who can blame them- some people don’t even get claimed by their godly parent, and here Nico is, an only child (because Hazel’s father is Pluto, and she stays in new Rome) of one of the big 3, having his stepmum, who just happens to also be a goddess, picking him up for Christmas. Nico isn’t one to draw attention to himself- and sadly for him, the easiest way to get attention is to walk around with a goddess who actually talks to their child, and will occasionally kiss him on the cheek- in the most motherly way possible.
-Persephone doesn’t trust anyone in her family to cross the road.
Every time she’s with Hades or Nico, she makes them hold her hand as they cross the road- purely because she doesn’t trust either of them.

I hate what that woman did to Nyx. Nyx in the myth was amazing and was as an AMAZING mother, very protective of her children. No way she’d just ignore Thanatos and dump him on that blue bitch.
Exactly! It boggles the mind that anyone would think that Nyx was a neglectful mother let alone an absent one. In mythology she was a very loving mother and adored ALL her children, especially Thanatos. That's why in my retelling of the golden age and Persephone's kidnapping I'm making Nyx much more of an openly loving, affectionate and involved mother, to the point that all of her children, and even some of Gaia's children, like Cronos, come to her for support and advice as well as motherly affection. Justice for Nyx! ✊✊✊

HAPPY HALOA!!!
I did some looking into it to come up with some ideas for some ideas on how to celebrate it today and as someone who is infact not a farmer.
Here's some ideas and a brief overview of what Haloa is.
So Haloa is essentially a festival of harvest or gardening depending on what scholars you ask, but the point of it is pretty clear imo.
Celebrations to Lady Demeter, Dionysus, and Poseidon for a bountiful harvest that year.
Lady Demeter: goddess of Harvest (all harvest)
Dionysus: god of grapes and wine (so hill harvests)
Poseidon: god of the sea and all ocean vegetation (seashore harvest)
So since the celebration is about harvest and a very literal one and i am not a farmer, im going with a more metaphorical harvest like with what we've done with the full moon.
So my intentions for this celebration are going to be much more along the lines of a personal harvest praising the gods for other aspects of what they do and celebrating them still.
So like this
Demeter: for her motherly love and protection over my growth. she also sustains the earth with a rich bounty. so for a prayer "thank you Lady Demeter for keeping me sustained even in the worst of conditions" and an offering of bread, wheat, or grain (whatever you can get your hands on)
(i'm going to offer something that may remind her of Persephone as now is the time where i am that its winter)
Posideon: for his healing waters and the ferocity of the waves that keep me inspired.
Focusing on the ocean ruler aspect and renewal. You can look at videos of the ocean to relax and meditate on, connect to the sea a bit, and invite Poseidon in to be with you for a time. That can serve as an offering and a bonding experience with the celebrated god to grant you renewal.
(Since they focus on seashore, specifically and that's a lot like my home. I'll be making offerings of seashells and maybe Mother of Pearl if i have any)
Dionysus: for his grand smile and chaotic energy that has always added spice to my life.
Focusing on his celebrations and abundance aspects. Allow yourself to overindulge a bit today, eat what you want as long as it's safe (if you have been on a restricted diet please be careful!) Enjoy a drink of wine or grape juice mixed with water, 3 parts water 1 part wine (or grape juice) is the recipe for his wine.
and there you have it! a way to respect the gods today in celebration and still keep it on the lighter end if need be. Happy Haola everyone!

I see voice claim discussion, and I must contribute. Many a lightly accented and ancient sounding voice in the marvelous game, Hades! [ https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuZ2Q31OPTUAhg_WgUFf97f5rvSp7Yk2f&si=5i-Hv5btZJL3pNWb ]
Everyone has this air of mystery and regality around them since, well, they're gods. I can see Achilles for Missingno, or Chaos for something more foreboding and spooky, all the overlapping voices- maybe him in "glitch" form! Persephone for Meau- motherly and kind, but capable of rage. Thanatos or Zagreus for a young adult Ody, could see the high energy smart talking Hermes for Flurry, Circe.. not sure- maybe Artemis? Not all are the best fits, but they each have their charm. Honorable mention to Eurydice and Orpheus as a duo, simply for the lovely duet between them. [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e05ClTDW9F4 ]
….yep. Yep. Okay, the search is over, Achilles is PERFECT for Missingno. no cap, absolutely flawless. I’d change the slightest inflection for him if I had my way, but that’s the damn closest I think I’m ever gonna get. Thank you XD
Persephone is good, but Meau has a bit of a stronger, more authoritative sound. She’s not nearly as soft as Persephone is! Her voice commands attention and respect!
Zagreus actually sounds like just, an adult Odysseus, instead of a young adult. It’s pretty close to what I have in mind, but I think the accent would be a lot less noticeable. Influences by hearing Noe talk, but not nearly as strong type of deal! Overall, very close, going in my favourites!!
Hermes is also in the right direction, but not quite for Flurry, he’s definitely more energetic and chaotic and sounds a bit younger.
Overall, 7/10, very good voices in there and Noe’s is still perfect, I am off to raid his voice lines to make a few animatics too XD

Unintelligible thoughts about Hadestown
I saw the show in Atlanta on Jan 10th. Eurydice and Hades were both played by understudies. Will Mann as Hades is a particular stand out, the man is built like a tank and was as physically opposing as he is mentally.
Would do this with notes like I would a movie, but it’s not like I could have my phone out during a performance. These are taken from scribbles during intermission and in the car post show.
Orpheus sang everything. Even little lines that could have easily been spoken (yes ,etc.) and his voice was absolutely lovely. Chibueze was actually adorable to watch.
Napkin flower. Napkin flower. Napkin flower
Eurydice was absolutely vibing with the fiddle player at the start of road to hell, miming along with them.
Cecilia’s Eurydice was much more…? Wild child. She’d startle Orpheus then he’d get all excited like a puppy. Love this dynamic
When Hermes has Orpheus bless the drinks in Livin’ it up on top someone in the chorus goes “YEAHHHHHHH ORPHEUS” and I’ll never forget that
Persephone being absolutely motherly to both of them💕
HOW THE WALL LITERALLY ROLLS IN BEHIND THE SET
Hermes whistle is a lighter and it’s actually hysterical (or this might’ve been a candle.)
Hades would Carry Persephone’s purse for her down from the balcony .
The lighting. The lighting. The lighting. While perfect other times it was so fucking bright you couldn’t see, like little spotlights in wait for me were hellbent on blinding the audience, that and when hades “conducts the electric city.”

New TWOF prequel incoming!
Okay, so you know how I've been infodumping a lot about Luzbel lately? Well, it's not for no reason because I'm making a new prequel that's all about him! It's called "Hymn of the Gods", and it's focused on Luzbel's growth as he struggles to fit in amongst the gods of the Skylands, all while facing the growing threat of the Underworld.
I just finished the Olympian's designs, and soon I'll be working on the Egyptians.
Tumblr media
Let's kick things off with Zeus, the God of Thunder and the king himself! While he is a womanizer and has fathered many children with many mortal women, he still loves his wife Hera. He would split a planet in half for his children, and is very protective of his subjects, both divine and mortal.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Hera, here she is! She's the goddess of marriage, and while she did always get mad at Zeus for cheating on her with mortal women, she just accepted that that's just how he is and she's calmed down about it. She's even friends with a lot of his spouses like Leto (Artemis and Apollo), Alcmene (Hercules), Semele (Dionysus), and many others.
Overall, she's very motherly and kind towards her children, but can also be very strict if they misbehave or are cruel to each other or other creatures.
Tumblr media
Poseidon, the God of the Seas! Not much to say about him except that the sea reflects his mood, typical of an ocean god. On days when he's calm, the sea is calm and sailors can go by effortlessly. On days when he's pissed, the sea is tossing and turning with storms and tidal waves; he could drown a whole city if he wanted to, but he's not that ruthless. He's an excellent brother to Zeus and Hades, they make a great trio.
Tumblr media
I've mentioned Hades a few times on this blog, and here he is in the flesh! He's the God of the Underworld, and despite him having a bad rep when it comes to underworld gods (I blame Disney for taking so many liberties with the Hercules movie; don't get me wrong, I like it, I just don't like how inaccurate it is to the real story), he's a nice guy and is always willing to listen if any of his subjects have something to say.
He loves his wife Persephone deeply, and would do anything for her. He's also became good friends with Orpheus after he died (he had to sit through at least an hour of tearful apologies of how stupid Orpheus was to look back at Eurydice), but now that Orphie and his beloved are reunited in the afterlife, all is well.
Tumblr media
Demeter is the Goddess of the Harvest, and is easily the most strict and motherly of them all. She's very protective of her daughter Persephone, and while she had her complaints when Hades took her to the Underworld (they had been meeting in secret a few weeks prior because Persephone didn't want to be constantly controlled by Demeter all the time, and because Hades was the only one who treated her like an adult), she's alright about it now and even invites Hades over sometimes.
Tumblr media
Hestia is the Goddess of the Hearth, and the oldest of her siblings (well, technically also the youngest since Kronos threw her up last since she was the first child he swallowed).
She's one of the more solitary gods, preferring to watch over and mingle among mortals since she enjoys their theatrics and culture.
Tumblr media
Athena is the goddess of wisdom, and the oldest of the demigod Olympians. As we all know, she was expelled from Zeus' forehead after he swallowed his first wife Metis (who, in my AU, was expelled from him later in the same fashion), and as we know she came out full-grown and ready to kick some ass.
She's very smart and is well-read on all sorts of subjects, but she's also very smart and strategic when it comes to battle, which is where her association with war comes from.
Tumblr media
Ares is the God of War, and exactly what you'd expect of him: brash, reckless, cruel, all that jazz. He's actually the real reason why Hephaestus is crippled the way he is.
In most stories, it's either Hera or Zeus that throws Hephaestus off of Mount Olympus after he's born, but in my AU it's Ares who pushed him when they were kids because he was jealous of how well-treated Hephaestus was compared to him (not that Ares wasn't treated well, he was just too much for his parents to handle). He was punished after this, and his ego only grew as he got older.
Tumblr media
Hephaestus is the God of Blacksmithing, and is very calm and rational and smart. He brought the gift of machinery to man, and he made the first robots, which were made of bronze and given life so that they could move and do things all on their own.
He's very gentle as well, and despite the stories, he and his wife Aphrodite are a fabulous couple. He treats her very well and showers her with jewelry that he crafts himself, and her most prized treasure is the girdle he made for her as a wedding gift.
Tumblr media
Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love, and that title is not lost on her. She's very sweet and gentle with everyone, and is more than willing to help out others with their relationships, whether it's romantic or not. She's deeply in love with Hephaestus, and hates Ares with a passion (the bad kind). The reason she married Hephaestus was because Zeus was afraid that the male gods would get into a fight over who would be her husband, and that someone would get hurt, so he asked her who she would like to marry and she chose Hephaestus.
As for the time when Ares got tricked and was caught up in chains, Aphrodite was sick and tired of Ares' constant advances and mistreatment toward her, so she and Hephaestus came up with a plan to trick him and expose his misdeeds to the gods. So Hephaestus created a net of chains that were so thin they were nearly invisible but were very strong, and strung them all around his and Aphrodite's bedroom, and instructed Aphrodite to wait for Ares to try and sneak in while he pretended to go on a trip. When Ares arrived, once he was within three feet of the bed he was suddenly caught and trapped in the net, and Hephaestus came back with all the other gods in tow. After that, Ares steered clear of Aphrodite and Hephaestus and just didn't even bother with them anymore.
Tumblr media
Apollo is the god of the sun, healing, and music. He's very gentle but also kind of a wisecracker, and is one of the more laid-back gods. He runs an infirmary on Olympus, where he takes care of the injured after a battle or if there's an accident, and makes no exceptions to whoever he's healing.
Tumblr media
Artemis is the goddess of the moon and the hunt, and is Apollo's twin sister. She's a bit of a tomboy, not even bothering with men (except her friendship with Orion), and spends a lot of time with her nymphs and dogs in the forest.
Tumblr media
Hermes is the god of travelers, thieves, and messages. If anyone has a message to go to the other Skylands, they go to Hermes. That's partially why he's the smallest of the Olympians; his small size makes him faster, and he's mostly found hovering in the air or relaxing.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, we have Dionysus, the god of wine and merrymaking. He's either too drunk or too sober, either way that's how you've got him. He's always one to host and go to parties and get-togethers in the Skylands (especially if there's booze, he bee-lines off to Asgard for those). He has a pet leopard, and looks after a grapevine that's grown so much it's all over the inside of his temple on Olympus now. Overall, he's a chill guy and good to hang out with.
And that's all I've got for the Olympians! I'll move on to the Egyptians, and then the Asgardians.

Do you have any recommendations for mother/daughter incest fiction? Subtext/undertones or explicit!!
sure!! the most obvious one is sharp objects by gillian flynn, which you probably already know at least by name if you haven't read it or watched it already — it's a textbook emotional incest narrative, one that invests all the women and girls in the house in a relationship that only gets murkier and murkier.
i have heard very interesting things about jawbone by monica ojeda, which i have not yet read personally, but which i have been told is an all around meh novel with a fascinating lesbian oedipus narrative trapped inside of it about a daughter basically subsuming her mother.
thicker than water by kathryn harrison is a must, a fascinating read about a girl who's lost her parents and who endlessly reminisces and fantasizes about them, especially her mother.
in a similar vein, luminal by isabella santacroce is a short, scatological and very trippy novel about two ambiguously lesbian teenage prostitutes living the life in mitteleurope, and our narrator has a near-obsessive fascination for her mother that borders and occasionally touches on the sexual.
sputnik sweetheart by haruki murakami is a novel i can only describe as "if carol was explicitly about the younger woman's desire for a mother figure" — it's not particularly good or compelling, it's your average murakami novel and the narrator is painfully annoying, but it's definitely tropey enough and readable enough if you're looking for some older woman/younger woman motherly projection content.
kind of an out of place recommendation among so many contemporary novels, but you should absolutely read proserpine by mary shelley, a devastating poetic drama about the rape of persephone and demeter's search for her which leans heavily and almost incestuously into their desperate love and longing for each other.
if you're into comics, i can recommend are you my mother? by alison bechdel, a mostly-autobiographical companion piece to the far more famous and father-centric fun home. if you like manga, you need to read kyoko okazaki's helter skelter and pink, both in general and also because the themes of unhealthy attachment between mother and daughter are delightfully executed, especially in pink.
i should also mention the storied tradition in yuri manga of giving the protagonist a mother complex, starting from shiroi heya no futari by ryoko yamagishi (one of the first ever yuri, and a wonderfully melodramatic story at that) and culminating in taiyaki nakamura's fun slice of life stories about teen girls ceaselessly trying to seduce their own mothers (yuru oyako, 1 x 1/2).
i hope this list is a good starting point, and that some of my recommendations may pique your interest! as always, feel free to recommend your own favourite mother/daughter incest stories in the replies if you have any — and for more content like that you can of course check out my lesbian oedipus tag on here and my female oedipus tag on my old blog, though odds are you've probably already browsed them.

One complaint I often see about Hazbin/Helluva Boss is the lack of villains, or rather all the villains are the same. Cool concepts that end up being more childish than a Saturday morning cartoon. Well for my rewrite I try to lean into that Saturday Morning aesthetic by having a variety of villains with cool gimmicks. Not all of them are Pure Evil though, they're broken souls, but at the same time I want more villains with different motivations and themes. And yes there are unambiguously evil villains who do bad shit for the hell of it. Here's what I have so far:
We have the main villains, a circus that Evan works for early in the beginning until her transport to hell and subsequent redemption. Their goal is to overthrow the angelic hierarchy and hell royal families and turn the earth into a paradise free of pain and suffering. But in the process puts the souls and innocent humans at risk.
Balthazar: ringleader and owner of the Moonshine Carnival. He recruited teenaged runaway Evangeline Smith to steal a powerful artifact to add to his collection. Underneath the eccentric fun loving facade lies a calculating manipulator with a score to settle with heaven...and hell. Wields a Shillelagh that may have been retooled from an angelic weapon. Based on Caine from TADC
Necrobats: Acrobats who work at the circus, they're stylized like Adam's Exterminators but in bright blue&purple.
Hoohah: A clown with an assorted arsenal of tools including ropes, water guns, whips, chains... Huh? Hoohah is a talented actor who skirts thw line between comedy and melodrama. Is based on Gangle from TADC.
Mesmeralda: A snarky fortune teller with standard telekinesis and mind reading. She works for Balthazar. Based on Zooble from TADC.
Magmarock: Pyrotechnics of Balthazar's circus and muscle, he can control different types of heat including lightning, lava, and steam. Despite his might he is shown to have a suspicious side. Based on Kinger from TADC.
Chevy Duty: Monster trucker from the state of Montana, his truck is a literal monster truck. It can only be soothed through Dolly Parton. Is the only character not based on one from TADC but he is partly inspired by WWE stars.
Portia Lane: A ballerina and dancer with razor sharp shoes. Comes off as motherly and somewhat neurotic, but also fiercely loyal to Balthazar. Is based on Ragatha from TADC.
Pax: suave magician who was the closest Evan had to a friend at the circus. Tall dark and handsome, but operates with his own agenda. Specializes in illusions and light magic. Based on Jax from TADC.
There's other performers and actors such as clowns, dancers, water tricks, animal tamers etc. The main ones I describe are considered the Elites, and the most selfish and evil.
Then I have the independent villains. I haven't come up with all the names so shoot me some suggestions!
Georgina Reginald: A wealthy girl who attends the same school Evan does. While academically and socially gifted, she is also cold, cruel and belittles those she deems beneath them. Evan and Adam TP's her house. Later Georgina is given powers from a mysterious amulet and tries to take over the school.
Moore and Artie: A due of robbers who were active in the UK. While attempting a crime in France they were caught in a shootout and Artie was killed. Soon after, Moore revived his friend using an soul artifact. Augmented with new powers they continued their crime spree. Evan and Charlie fights them during a brief stay on Earth
Furie Fatale: Formerly Megara, the first wife of Hercules who was murdered along with their kids by Hera. She pleaded with Persephone and Hades to reverse their deaths but was rejected. Vowing revenge, Megara turned her sights to the Demon Overlords, and made a deal with the Overlord of Wrath to destroy Hera, anyone who worships her and the other deities who reside in the skies. She's a darker reflection of Eve and Lilith.
Dee-Kay: Originally a real estate guru Deidre Kaye who constructor who planned on building a resort which would've risked destroying a wildlife sanctuary Flora Smith volunteers. Following a freak accident involving chemicals Deidre developed the power to make plants Rot. He's Flora's main opponent.
Breezer: A demonic wind elemental, not much for personality other than that they are volatile and hired by overlords as a temp.
Carrie Sensation: Based on Carrie Nation, a self styled activist who tries to get all the bars closed. She was sent to hell for pushing her views onto everyone and her disregard for ruining people's businesses. She's Husk's main enemy.
Tidal Rage: a water demon with the ability to create hurricanes. Originally a surfer named Tina Rodriguez who cheated at competitions, eventually leading up to drowning a rival surfer. Attempts to flood the hotel out of jealousy towards Charlie.
Venjara: A worker for Valentino, she is a ninja and known shitstirrer who weaponizes the pain of others to project her own self righteous sense of justice. She's the evil counter to Vaggie.
An animal trafficker who owns creatures like the chupacabra and small dragons, selling to the highest bidder. At one point he steals Fat Nugget, prompting a manhunt.
Nightmare Imps, demonic forces who torments people in their sleep. To Abel they are merely more than pests that can be easily dealt with a spray bottle.
An elderly mobster was in a rival gang and who knows Angel Dust (before he died) and still alive, nearing 100 years old. Angel Dust pays him one last visit.
A former Exterminator named Harmonie who took things a little too far and started attacking humans under the assumption that by doing so, they wouldn't turn into Sinners. Adam and Lute was forced to retire her but she escaped and now leads a rival group called the Harpy League. She's a reflection of Adam's violent methods & disobedience. Eventually he admits he feels a tad guilty for his role in ruining her sanity.
Wright N. Rung: A former judge who was sent to hell for causing false imprisonment and executions of innocent people. He can condemn souls and is the rare ability to break contracts (for a high price that is). He's similar to Frollo and is another character who serves as a darker reflection of Adam, namely his self righteousness; and Charlie for her passivity and privilege.
Goliath: Warlord from Ancient biblical times with a score to settle with the angels, namely King David's family. He is a counter to Alastor.
Jezebel: Former queen and a biblical figure who led a genocide and was thrown off the balcony by a servant. In hell she maintained her regal status, and creates a league to overthrow heaven. She even tried to overthrow Lilith once, and sees her disappearance by attempting to persuade Lucifer to accept her as his new bride. He hates her ass lol.
I have other ideas for villains but in theory, they're meant to be darker reflections of the Main characters + my OCs and Adam. Showing what'll happen if they don't move on from their flaws

(same anon as before) also!!! I LOVE the way you portray persephone as not wanting or liking kids, and how hades respects her choice, it makes your comic a truly feminist retelling of their myth and its just SO rare to see this kind of thing in fiction... shes just like me fr. thank you for creating this!!!!!!
While there is of course nothing wrong with being motherly and wanting children, I wanted my version of Persephone to be the kind of woman who is perfectly happy without children. Too often I have seen the notion that a couple's love can't be complete unless they have kids.
Honestly, when I started making my Greek myth comics, my goal never was to make them feminist. I just wanted to make the kind of stories that I personally wanted to read (I also think that the Homeric Hymn to Demeter is quite feminist in itself already, since Demeter went against the patriarchal society to get her daughter back). But since I'm interested in feminist topics such as gender roles and women's lives in history, that has of course colored my stories. Usually I leave it to the reader to decide if they are feminist or not.
Thank you and have a nice day! <3

The Baker vs Persephone
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda (Click names for full propaganda pages and other actors)
The Baker: They’re so earnest but also really sweet and funny. They care for their child and grapple with their own parental abandonment. His relationship with his wife is amazing, it’s both grounded in reality and full of love. he has 1 biological kid and at least 2 emotional ones. he's a pathetic guy which is extremely hot imo
Persephone: She's the literal incarnation of fuckable. Her costuming is amazing and she's the perfect wine mom energy. She becomes very dedicated to helping Orpheus, who she views as “just a boy.” In short Persephone is very motherly but (this is important) she is also a wine mom. provides food and entertainment to the starving humans in the upper world, so she's protective and caring, and she stands up to Hades for the sake of Orpheus and Eurydice. A true goddess.
