And I did indeed not know, due to the gaps in my knowledge of SUVs that size caused mainly by them barely ever coming to places like Europe, whose human-sized environments are not comfortably navigated by these absolute fucking monsters - hell, I live near a two way road that gets almost 25cm narrower than this thing. Oh, for yanks, that's just over the length of my- you know what actually let's not give that information to the public I can think of something else, uhhhhh that's about a head's width right? Lemme look it up on Wikipedia. Nope, apparently it's about from your chin to your hair. Did you know Wikipedia has a subsection on median human head measurements on the not at all creepily named article "Human head"? There's a table from lowest 99- wait, what were we talking about? Oh right, that thing. How did I get sidetracked like that? I swear that never happens.

I know it's a recent SUV by Nissan's luxury brand Infiniti because it looks recent and has an Infiniti badge that's visible from space, so I just did what I usually do, type what I know into Google Images (yes, DuckDuckGo users, you get to feel superior to me) and glance around at the results to see if I stumble into it. "Infiniti SUV", however, net me zilch. So I figured, since the damn thing so big and goofy it makes the picture you sent look like an Animorphs cover where a car turns into a semi, it could not possibly be anything but the top-of-the-range QX80, and thus googled that next. However, all the behemoths I saw looked much more acceptable, making me begin fearing I'd have to delve into the absolute mess that is the Infiniti naming scheme.

But then, I had an idea.

So what you saw is the second generation of, as I'd suspected, the Infiniti QX80. But also technically not.

See, the one below is the 2004 Infiniti QX56, based on the Nissan Armada based on the Titan based on me, but we(eee!) are never ever ever wait that's not how the song goes.

In 2010, out came its now Nissan Patrol-based second generation, who saw the awkwardness of the first one's roofline realizing at the end of the rear door that it actually can't slope down like that and its front end deciding it may need to be different but who said it must be better and emphatically asked it to hold its gas station sake.

But, in 2015, they did a restyling, in which they sprinkled some LEDs into the lights and fiddled with the bumpers creating the model you saw on the road and I found on Google - and used the occasion to transition the model to the new naming scheme.

You see, Infiniti had realized nobody could parse or remember their seemingly random letters and engine size names, so they started shifting to calling every car Q (or QX if it's vaguely gesturing towards the concept of off-roader) and use the numbers, like in many other brands, to denote where they sit in the range - thus the range topper got the highest number, going from QX56 (denoting its 5.6L engine) to QX80.

(good God.)

So technically, you could argue this to be the first generation of Infiniti QX80, since before this specific restyling there was no Infiniti QX80 because it was called QX56. But that logic would dictate someone who transitioned a year ago is a baby, and honestly if one stance on car names bars me from sex with trans people I'll pick the other.

Either way, they ran with that restyling for three years until they were like "Oh when y'all asked for a restyling you meant you wanted us to make it stop looking like a whale telling its daughter she is not going out dressed like that? Oh okay! Coulda said it earlier!" and gave it the second restyling that carried the model up to this year.

I'm not sure if it actually looks nice full stop or if it's just the whiplash from the Multipla-rivaling previous model, but at least the fender vents now look like they came from Infiniti and not Walmart. Though this generation is now getting sunset altogether, since in the mean time they figured out how to make the damn thing even larger.

This pedestrian mower's headlights have a 'bamboo forest design motif', which I'm very excited by, knowing many people that named their headlights' lack thereof as the key reason for their waning will to live. It's expected to cost Too Much and have a gas mileage rating of You Spent Six Digits On A Drivable House You Don't Get To Even Ask.

The amount of progress I made since being diagnosed with autism, depression and anxiety. Even if I stopped going to therapy, I feel like the diagnosis (esspecially the autism one) shed so much light on my life, and I was able to makes the world around me (even if just at home) more confortable for myself by understanding myself more and adjusting the way I do things so it's easier on me.

It's also one of my favorite literary devices in fic and in shows (I'm looking at you Shogun 2024, you beautiful beautiful tv show on the intrigue of translation)

19) First fandom you wrote for? uhhhh. Naruto on like, fanfic.net for the super old stuff. The hobbit for my modern era lmao.

Most of my fics end pretty bittersweet but I think Hope (Doctor Who) is one of my happiest endings <3

No, surprisingly! My fics don't usually have much reach tbf. The only time I got anything close to "hate" was an ableist saying my disabled Dragon Age Inquisition OC is unrealistic to the setting and would likely be "with their clan or dead".

Sometimes! Usually it's abstract (a la Holy, Holy, Holy) or porn with feelings (a la A Tale of Yearning) but I've been known to indulge in a lil PWP on occasion

Just one! I have an ongoing Torchwood x Quantum Leap crossover 'verse thanks to @chaos-of-the-endless 😂 I also wrote a Baldur's Gate x Dead by Daylight AU recently!

Family Reunion :( I've been trying to write it for,,,, basically as long as I've been writing but I can never finish it and then years pass and I hate it and think it's cringe and want to start it from scratch, rinse and repeat)

Taking an impulsive headcanon and running with it. I have so many ficlets just because I thought of a headcanon and NEEDED to put it to the page. I also enjoy angst and hurt/comfort, things that expand on already existing angst and make it WORSE :3

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

In fic writing it's definitely description. I tend to get carried away in dialogue and forget to Say Other Stuff but I think I have a good handle on it now. That and smut, I enjoy writing it but I have to be either In The Mood or shut off my brain so I don't cringe so hard I delete it all bc I struggle with explicit content and get embarassed when things I'm writing are at all Kinky bc I have a crippling fear of judgement

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language for a fic?

As a reader I enjoy it! As a writer, just be careful, stick to one or two words rather than full dialogue if you don't have the time or energy to deep-google that shit

I've begun my "I don't care for Bloom/Sky" era except I love Sky unlike most people who believe this. He's literally a wet cat of a man. Bloom's and Sky's relationship is based on Bloom wanting the prince charming of her dreams, and Sky wanting to be normal by being with someone nomral. Both of these things are very much not true and are pretty unrealistic of them.

Bloom/Brandon

Brandon is the only one of the guys that would be able to roll with the insane shit that Bloom is ALWAYS caught up in without missing a beat. That's it, that's the only reason. No hesitation, no surprise, simple acceptance.

Stella:

I cannot believe you're making me break up Brella I will NEVER forgive you for this /joke

Stella/Helia

Why? Helia is the only person Brandon has ever considered a threat to his relationship, and I think that's funny as hell. Helia's commitment to the bit and acting utterly insane (see: holding off a monster only for Flora and letting the other Winx die ig, throwing someone through a table) would match Stella's ultra dramatic energy perfectly. Stella starts a bit and Helia acts like it's her last dying will and testament. Also, Helia seems to not trust himself as a part of a team (esp in the comics) and Stella's Stella ness would drag him out to hang out with everyone more often in s2 helping with that. On the other side Helia would barely care about Stella's looks, like they'd probably dating after Stella drops her "cute blonde ditz" mask, so he'd inform her of how much he likes her real personality so often

Stella/Timmy

I think it would be cute. Stella keeps him in her purse and she thinks he's so adorable. Timmy is being lavished with attention and he will try his best to let Stella know she's the best person he's ever met

I have too many shippers of these two following me to not see the appeal. I have read the essays and I am convinced they could be EXTREMELY cute. Riven helps Flora be more assertive and not exclusively do things for others, and Flora helps Riven connect with his emotions and other people. Adorable

5: kinnporsche

god, kinnporsche.........i'll be upfront, i have yet to finish it just because each episode requires both a large time and mental attention commitment, but. it's absolutely gorgeous in terms of cinematography, especially on the budget they were on, and the acting and writing are both very solid. i think it's a really good example of how a common trope (bodyguard mafia romance) can be elevated above the rest of the media it shares its roots with through attention to and love of the craft on the part of everyone involved. there's a reason kinnporsche is, like, the only thai bl, or really bl period, that i can think of that has a fanbase that's still going strong not only for the actors, but for the show, the story. there are bits about it that aren't my favourite thing ever, but i can understand how and why they fit into the plot and the genre that the show is in. also, i've heard some utterly batshit things regarding how it even came to exist (apparently the novel it was based on had a lead based on (the persona of) the actor who plays him in the show???) which is always fun.

15: zhiming youxi/the spirealm

my darling my beloved my sweet sweet love. currently at episode, uhhhhh, 48/78? i really love that each episode is so short, relatively speaking, because it means i can sit down and watch three episodes and not feel too bad about ignoring other things because i've only spent an hour (or.......a bit more, if i'm screencapping for yelling purposes) watching them. i love the acting so much—everyone feels like they're giving their roles their all, and it shows, and i love that. and the chemistry between nanqiu! chemistry is, in my opinion, absolutely key to romantic shows, and even more in censored romantic shows, where they can't supplement the subtext with, well, text. and, god, the cinematography and costuming...........i want to talk to whoever costumed the show and shake their hand profusely—each character has an aesthetic and even if it shifts over the course of the show, it still fits them. and so many characters have memorable ensembles! zhuang rujiao especially, i just adore her costuming to bits. my main complaint about this show is that i wish that the way we wound up with it hadn't cut out the intro credits, because i'm sure they were fabulous.

23: spring fever (2009)

an explicitly gay chinese film? well, yes, actually! (because it's also technically a french film.) the thing about spring fever is that it's..................hard to describe? it's very artistic and atmospheric, but not a lot happens, which i can definitely see as being a drawback for people. i've seen multiple people talk about how confusing it was for them, to which i just shrug and say "kid, sometimes you're not meant to understand art, you're just meant to experience it". i personally think that the way the film is shot is very intentional and well-thought-out, but, uh, i also think that part of that "well-thought-out"ness was to make something that evoked emotion, not necessarily rationality. cons of this film are that it's basically damn near impossible to get your hands on—probably because of the whole mess with it being made while the director was still under censure for a previous work he'd made that pissed off the SARFT (state administration of radio, film, and television), and when i watched it, my reaction was basically "wow. you know, not art i would personally make, but i'm glad someone wanted to make it and now it exists because there's someone out there it'll mean a lot to". also this film features explicit onscreen drag! which i thought was cool.

Honestly it kinda started out as a pure vibes thing, like I just thought "hmmmm which cats to hit with The NPD Beam.. squirrelstar hhholy shiit i think i just had a vision. i didn't see anything in the vision but I had a visionnn" and it stuck. Mostly headcanon stuff, maybe some slight au territory (but wc canon is already flimsy as it is anyway, so really, it didn't change much from the originals) but the longer I though about it the more it just kinda fits in lol, especially with her torment gauntlet storyline but not entirely because of it, either -

(I do not know how coherent this'll be, or if I even say everything I wanted to, as I am. so sleepy rn) Honestly the first thing I thought after initially coming up with it is. her relationships with Brambleclaw and Ashfur gsfdsghsd. It's very common to just believe that the abuser must be The Narcissist (or that just, all people with npd are automatically predestined to be abusers no matter what) while it's actually way more often that people with npd are more likely to stay in those relationships, or get abused because *shocker* mentally ill people actually way more likely to be treated as subhuman by society and the like. And I've already saw one or two people just proclaim that Brambleclaw is a narcissist because um, *checks notes* he's controlling of his wife and extra sensitive of (oftentimes valid) criticisms of his leadership or something idk man which. uhhhhh. no can we not please + shut up forever + now I'm gonna do the opposite nobody can stop me (also happened with rainflower. and clear sky. and sol. but mostly rainflower. lord help me)

(on a sillier note though....... nothing much to say about Ashfur as of now but after his Squilf/Ashf breakup if he was a human he'd become a self-proclaimed tiktok Dark Empath)

And lastly the headcanon stuff, which I completely made up while stirring the muffin batter but they might or might not have canon basis too, I don't know, I'm not gonna look for it and I don't really care either;

Does the right thing not because it's "what you're supposed to do or whatever idk I have no idea how any of you define it anymore", but because it makes her feel good. "In the bleak midwinter", a Legend of Zelda au. Only one chapter so far, though, and I actually want to finish it before publishing it.

In the "Just for me" category we have:

A lot of Pokemon fics, like a self-insert that I have like three chapters on (I'm not publishing this because I don't think I'll ever finish it)

Stuff based on Straight Elf's Traveler, some I do publish for that discord server, others I don't. The stuff I won't publish comprises of multiple one shots based off of an au of that awesome fic. Also a crossover with One Piece, because why not.

That one Demon Slayer and MHA crossover. Some one shots are finished, others are not. The finished ones I won't publish because, again, I'll never actually finish the rest of them and I consider it unfair to do something and not commit to the end.

An AU of Linked Universe that's mixed with manwha and fire emblem sensibilities; all the Links are brothers and princes. Most are only half-brothers because their bio dad (the king) is awful. Ganondorf takes over when Time is like nine years old; this causes....issues. Ganondorf and Time have an interesting dynamic in this au since Ganondorf holds all the power, and quite a few hostages since Time's little brothers are very young. Eventually he does get kicked out when Time is 16, and more things ensue from there.

A Dark End of Hyrule, wherein Spirit (who didn't travel with the Chain) travels to a Dark Hyrule and uhhhh it doesn't go well.

A few One Piece one shots wherein Law travels back in time to Roger's time thanks to Straw Hat Shenanigans, changes somethings. Roger--who got healed by Law--ends up adopting all the D. kids, it's hilarious.

The Trenchcoat AU, wherein it's a lot of AU's masquerading as one big AU. It's a One Piece AU, wherein Garp dies when Ace and Luffy are young, so Sengoku takes 'em in. The Five Elders interfere, though, and it ends up with Luffy in a wheelchair thanks to an "illness" that only the Navy has the cure to. Ace works as a Vice Admiral to get the medicine for Luffy. There are a lot of complicated feelings with the Sengoku-Ace relationship. Luffy is Luffy and has the entirety of Marineford wrapped around his rubbery fingers.

A self-insert to One Piece, but like Roger's time. Rouge gets a whole pirate crew, and builds a city in the New World.

22. Care to share any future WIP ideas you have lined up?

Uhhhhh.....this is again split into the two categories. For the publishing side of things (which is the only side I'll share)...Experience is the Cain of the Blind technically doesn't have anything written in it yet, so I think it counts.

Basically, the premise--set up from the first fic--is that Duo (the robot who sent the Robot Masters back in time) told Blues that he'd send all his family back in time, right?

And he did! It's just that what Blues didn't consider at the time--since he didn't know about X is that.....

All means all.

Cue X waking up in the pod by Dr. Cain 100 years later, completely disoriented, and after looking around at this new, strange time proceeds to go what.

(The Robot Masters didn't find the paper will, oops. Well, they will eventually but at that point Dr. Cain's already absconded with X.)

Zero and Axl are eventually found through shenanigans, and Dr. Cain is here for the ride. The Robot Masters do eventually catch up, which is even more shenanigans.

Did I mention that it's from Dr. Cain's PoV? Yeah, this entire thing will be from Dr. Cain's PoV.

HOME: Where was your OC born? What was their first home? Do they still live there? If not, why not? How do they feel looking back on it?

DAI — daichi was (as far as he and I know) born in the Underdark. he doesn't remember it at all—his earliest memories of home revolve around his father and the tent they shared during the war. he's pretty sure, based on his history lessons, they must have lived somewhere a bit before his father joined the rebellion, but he doesn't remember it. (his first proper home was the house he and his father shared outside of the capital after the revolution. he still remembers it warmly, but I don't think he'd consider it home anymore, after all of this. he's a little too adrift to be so rooted. he wants to go back, though.) MINAH — minah was born in the free marches, probably in the house she grew up in. her folks worked with merchants and were relatively well off—she had her own room and enough room to run around indoors, that sort of thing. it was the only home she ever knew, and she loved it dearly until she didn't. she can't go back and I'm not sure she'd want to if she could. BRAN — bran was born in Rivia and she grew up in a very nice home high up in the cliffs as befitting one of the preeminent merchant families of the region. she left it right before she turned 18, out of fear of what being the head of that specific house would do to her. she hasn't been back since, but she misses it, and she especially misses the memories of her mother that live in it.

FEAR: What was the first thing your OC was afraid of? Why were they afraid of it? Are they still afraid now, or have they grown past it?

DAI — probably losing his dad, but it was a kind of vague fear—he knew he was afraid of it but he couldn't actually imagine it happening. the first thing he was properly, concretely afraid of was failing someone he considered important or worthy of respect. he grew up under a lot of pressure and never really learned how not to take that on. he... hasn't really outgrown either of those things. he's getting there. MINAH — her earliest fears were pretty basic—the dark, monsters under her bed, that sort of thing. she had a pretty mundane upbringing and didn't have to worry about too many actual dangers. looking back now, those fears seem insignificant and stupid. (she's found better things to be afraid of.) BRAN — I think probably her first real concrete fear was losing a parent. not to anything specific, just that fear of being left behind and all alone. her mother's slow death sort of made that better (more time to prepare) and also sort of made that worse (no way to stop it). her decision to leave home was in part driven by that fear (among others)—so long as she leaves first, she gets to define the leavetaking. she prefers that level of control.

OCEAN: When was the first time your OC saw the ocean? How did it make them feel? If they've never seen the ocean, do they want to?

DAI — in Selto!! they took the train outside the walls and it was just there, enormous and endless and a perfect reflection of the sky. he thought it was incredible—he'd never seen anything so immense before; even the sky back home was hemmed in by the mountains. (he's... a little less fond of it now. only so many times you can drown before you develop some anxieties) MINAH — saw the ocean on a family trip as a girl—probably to Ostwick (Kirkwall is a little uhhhhh fucked up) or maybe even Antiva. it was a big trip for the family and she was kind of over the hassle of traveling so far (and just to see some water? ugh), but then she saw the sea and she understood why so many people wrote and sang and reminisced about it. it stirred a wanderlust in her she ignored for a good long while, but she's definitely enjoyed the chance to sail in the past few years. BRAN — she doesn't remember the first time she saw the ocean. as far as she's concerned, it's always been a part of her, same as her blood or her heart. she can't conceive of a life without it. it's her world

LEVEL: If your OC has a class or uses a leveling system, what is it and when did they take their first level? If they don't, when would you consider them being skilled enough to start doing whatever they do now? How do they feel looking back on that first step now?

DAI — dai's first level was in cleric and would have been taken back when he was still an acolyte, before he ever stepped foot in the garrison. those first levels were carefully overseen and guided by the more powerful priests and clerics. he was perfectly proficient by the time he was posted at the garrison, but he'd never had any real experience with his magic or fighting or anything until he was assigned to the outpost. MINAH — all of minah's levels are in rogue (so far), but to be honest there's a world where she could have gone fighter instead. she picked up her first level shortly after she joined the circus—she had plenty of potential, but she didn't have any kind of training (except maybe for a weapon proficiency or two, ergo fighter). Alesso and his crew taught her how to properly stealth and read thieves cant and pick a pocket and all that, but she could have gone any direction—she was lucky to run into them. BRAN — bran's a born and bred fighter—she had a well-rounded training as a merchant heiress and that included a wide variety of weapon proficiencies. she probably picked up her first level a little before her mother died (like, around 14?) but would have leveled super slowly until she actually ran away from home—I figure she was maybe level 2, mechanically, when she left. everything else she picked up from experience
