after y'all finally start dating (you probs had to ask him), he's still pretty shy around you

he doesn't have a lot of dating experience (if any at all), so he's very unsure of how to go about things

after getting to know each other more though, he finally starts to relax more around you

in general, I think homeboy is very reserved

so, I think when it comes to initiating physical touch, telling you what's wrong, etc etc, it can take him a long time to actually get around to doing those things

you always reassure him through everything though and make sure he knows that you're there to support, learn, and grow with him no matter what :)

after like a year of dating, y'all are basically perfect

you know the in's and out's of the other person

homeboy is a BIG cuddler

I think the way he shows physical affection is probably quality time

I can just see him wanting to share your space, even if you two aren't necessarily doing anything together

Like, just do your own thing while he games, or come join him!

when you two live together, I think things are kinda bumpy at first as you adjust to having someone else in your space all the time

probs leads to a few arguments, but nothing some good ol communication can't fix

when it comes to going to bed, homie stays up rather late, so if you don't, you banish him to the abyss (the living room) if he needs to do something with light or sound (if that'll keep you up, that is)

awe, it's cute because if you're out and about trying to finish some farming stuff, by like 2 am he's waking up bc he's like :( where are you :( the bed is cold :(( come back :((( and is all worried about you bc "it's late." But the second he does it and you're like babe wha- he's like "No talk. Must write." and that's the end of the conversation LMAO

fav position to cuddle is the one where he's laying on his back and you're on your side with your head on his chest/shoulder/neck. He LOVES LOVES LOVES rubbing your back and/or playing with your hair as y'all fall asleep

celebrating the holidays.

a/n: hi here's my short replacement for the eyeless jack fic. that one is still gonna get posted!! just may take a while bc it's getting longer than i intended it to be lol. anyways i tried to keep the holiday relatively vague but since i personally celebrate christmas, i may slip up a bit. couldn't decide who to write for so i just spun a wheel six times and went with the ones selected.

includes: the bloody painter, nurse ann, jane the killer (arkensaw), eyeless jack, kate the chaser, and homicidal liu.

warnings: not proofread, very brief mention of helen's childhood, literally just fluff, also inconsistent length but that's to be expected atp, reader consumes meat in jack's section so sorry if u don't, nsfw elements in jack's part my hand slipped guys, blood, lotta kissing.

THE BLOODY PAINTER

He never cared much for the holidays, even when he was a child. Honestly, it was the one time of year that he dreaded the most.

He's an artist, so you know what that means. Every year, without fail, he would always get some art-related gifts. Not that he was complaining about that or anything, it was really, and still is, the only thing he had much interest in.

He just... found it to be draining. Apparently, at least according to his parents, he was supposed to find the holidays to be a fun, exciting time of year. And he was supposed to be oh so thankful for getting yet another sketchbook or paints from his relatives or whatever.

That was just too much work, honestly. So he grew to dread the holidays, even long after he became the killer he is today.

He's... not quite sure how he feels about the wrapped gift you're holding out in front of him. A part of him wants to reject it, and he almost does, but the barely contained excitement in your expression made him hesitate.

Your excitement only seemed to grow when he took the wrapped gift from you. While he didn't necessarily want or need a gift, he couldn't help but indulge you, especially since you seemed genuinely excited over whatever gift you had gotten him.

Honestly, he wasn't sure what he was expecting when he unwrapped the gift. Something art-related, no doubt. And it was art-related, just not in the way he was expecting.

It was something similar to a scrapbook, but it was really... neat. And more so a collection of art rather than an actual scrapbook. The thing that caught his attention the most was that it was just any old collection of art.

It was his art. You... you took or had his art professionally photographed and you put it in this book. It wasn't every single piece of art he's ever made, but it included a lot from different points of his life. It even included pieces from before he had met you.

He does not cry, no. But you do catch the tiniest smile forming as he flipped through the pages. It's... the nicest gift he's ever gotten before.

Helen's not sure how he'll repay you for getting something like this, so for now you'll just have to accept the tighter-than-usual hug and soft kiss.

NURSE ANN

Ann isn't too sure if she's ever celebrated any holidays before. She has no memories of her life before her... death? Is she dead? Well, she certainly doesn't feel alive.

She's rather indifferent towards the holidays, and honestly she probably won't even realize it's that time of year unless you or someone else point it out to her.

If you want to celebrate with her then she certainly won't stop you, just don't expect her to be the life of the party or anything like that.

You will have to guide her through how to celebrate because she simply will not know. But once she gets a hang of how things work it'll be something she retains for the future.

Ann stares blankly at the... tastefully atrocious sweater you were sporting. There were so many colors and the design clashed in a borderline unbearable way but you somehow made it look good.

Her gaze then drops down to the matching sweater you were holding out for her, an expectant look in your gaze. She thinks she understands, though she still glances up at you in confusion.

You explain that while it's not necessary to do in order to celebrate the holidays, you thought it would be fun to wear matching outfits with her. It's something couples do sometimes, apparently.

After your quick explanation, she silently takes the sweater from your hands and puts it on over what she was already wearing.

It certainly looks odd on her, no doubt, but the fabric is actually pretty soft, and the bright smile that lights up on your face makes it hard for her to care about whether or not the sweater looks good on her.

JANE THE KILLER

Jane hasn't celebrated the holidays since all the shit that's happened to her. She's been so focused on hunting Jeff down that it never even crosses her mind. Hell, she hasn't even celebrated her own birthday in years.

But then you come along and you insist on doing something for the holidays. Not because you necessarily enjoyed the holidays, but mostly because you just wanted her to take a break for once.

It'll take a lot of convincing. You'll have to get her to promise you months in advance, if we're being honest.

And if she didn't have such a soft spot for you, she probably wouldn't even humor the idea you had to celebrate. But alas, she loves you, and she finds it hard to say no to you more than she would like to admit.

She huffs in mild annoyance, sticking close to you as you guide her down the streets. She wouldn't normally be in such a crowded place but everyone was so caught up in their own plans for the holidays that no one spared her a single glance.

You wanted to go ice skating. It's not typically a traditional way to celebrate the holidays, at least not for her, but it seemed as if it would be fun. And it would give her an excuse to be close to you, so.

When you guys finally reach the ice skating rink, you're bouncing in excitement and eagerly pulling Jane along to go and put some blades on. She lets you, because your hand is oh so warm in hers and the way the lights shine in your eyes makes her feel... peaceful.

Now, there's no denying that she has never gone ice skating before. Hell, she's never been roller skating. So the moment you two were out on the ice, she was clinging to you to keep herself from falling.

It was embarrassing, and she almost wanted to storm off out of frustration but you never laughed at her. You would help her catch her balance whenever she slipped. You only laughed when you slipped.

You were even fine with sticking to one side of the rink, always keeping Jane behind you whenever another person would skate too close.

And when the two of you decided you had enough, she couldn't help but pull you close right as you go to step out of the rink, planting a deep kiss on your lips and leaving you dazed as she goes to take her blades off.

EYELESS JACK

Similarly to Ann, Jack can't remember if he's ever celebrated the holidays before. However, unlike Ann, he does have a vague idea on how people celebrate the holidays. He's not isolated like her.

He's definitely indifferent towards the holidays. He doesn't care much for them, but he's probably willing to celebrate if you really want him to.

Gift giving is not his specialty, dear lord. You will have to sit him down and tell him bluntly what you want so he can find some odd most certainly illegal way of obtaining it.

Jack is, however, an amazing cook and there is nothing that could change my mind on this, so he will definitely be willing to help you make any holiday meal you may want to try out.

Jack is silent as he watches you cook some meat for the meal the two of you had been spending the past few hours or so making. You had family coming over, and you needed dinner to be done before they arrived, so you had enlisted the help of your demonic, cannibalistic boyfriend.

His nose scrunched up in slight disgust at both the sight and smell of the cooking meat, and he grumbled silently under his breath about what a waste it was to cook it.

His mild disgust only seemed to grow more evident when you cut a piece of the meat off and pop it in your mouth to taste test it. He just couldn't understand how you could eat such a thing. Then again, he can't really judge considering he only consumes raw meat. Typically coming from a human.

You hum in delight at the taste, and perhaps it's an instinctual thing humans do, or maybe it's something else, but you cut off another piece and hold it out for him to eat. He just stares, and it takes a moment for you to realize what you had done, letting out a small, embarrassed laugh.

Before you could eat the piece of meat yourself, he was grabbing your wrist and bringing it back to his mouth, eating the cooked meat and biting your finger in the process. You hissed at the feeling of his sharp teeth pricking your skin, but you don't pull your hand away from him.

The meat was disgusting, no offense. You're an amazing cook so it isn't your fault, he just literally cannot consume cooked meat (or really anything that isn't raw/human) and he's going to feel absolutely awful tomorrow but that's for future Jack to worry about.

Present Jack thinks he deserves a reward for putting up with both the smell and taste of cooked meat, and he licks at your bleeding finger like your blood is the best thing he's ever tasted. To him, it was. It certainly helped to erase the taste of cooked meat.

Once he was satisfied, he was pulling you closer to him and kissing you deeply. He bit at your bottom lip until it was bleeding as well, and he couldn't help but groan as your blood invaded his mouth once more, relishing in both the taste and the little gasp that came from you.

He wanted more. Needed, if we're being honest. He found himself craving for you as his hands fell to the hem of your sweatpants, gently tugging at them. A clear sign of his intentions.

You grabbed his wrists before he could continue, breaking the kiss off and smiling slightly when he chased after you. The two of you were breathing heavily, the air in the kitchen feeling a lot thicker now.

Later, you promised. You still had a meal to finish cooking, and your family would be coming by in just a few hours. You sealed the promise with a quick, chaste kiss before taking the meat off the stove and setting it aside to focus on the next part of the meal.

And he helped you. He was patient, and he knew you could keep your promise.

KATE THE CHASER

Considering her sensitivity to light, it's not exactly easy for her to celebrate the holidays since bright lights seem to be a staple in them.

She's not really much of a holiday person anyway, so it's not something that bums her out.

She's probably the only one on this list that's least likely to indulge in celebrating, and will more than likely turn you down if you bring up the offer.

But she does feel a certain fondness in her heart when she sees you getting excited over something in relation to the holidays. While she doesn't enjoy that time of year, she's glad that you do.

Kate keeps her eyes covered as you carefully guide her through the forest. You had a surprise for her, apparently. Something to celebrate the holidays without actually celebrating.

She wasn't immediately thrilled, but you had promised that there would be absolutely no bright lights involved and that she didn't even have to consider it something for the holidays. That was enough to make her willing to indulge you just this once.

Even with her eyes closed, she could practically feel the excitement radiating off of you as you brought her closer to wherever it was you wanted to take her.

You told her to open her eyes shortly after, and she found the two of you standing in front of one of the many abandoned cabins within the forest. She didn't even hesitate to enter the cabin when you motioned for her to. Kate trusted you.

The sight she saw when she stepped inside was... it was breathtaking, honestly.

The walls and the ceiling were covered in glow-in-the-dark snowflakes and stars, illuminating the cabin in a faint green hue. It wasn't a grand gesture or anything of the sort. It was... it was nice.

The glow of the stars and snowflakes was bright enough to illuminate the cabin but dull and dark enough that she didn't have to shy away from it.

That wasn't the only thing you had planned either. She's not sure how much time and effort you put into doing all of this, but you had set up a little space in the cabin. There was even a small projector set up, as well as some food that you knew she enjoyed.

It's definitely the most romantic thing she's ever experienced. And if this is how you want to celebrate the holidays with her, then she definitely won't mind doing this sort of thing again next year.

HOMICIDAL LIU

Similarly to Jane, Liu hasn't really celebrated the holidays since everything that happened. He knows when that time of year comes around, and it makes him feel nostalgic, but he always found it hard to celebrate alone.

He's the one on this list who'll be most excited to celebrate the holidays with you if you ask him to.

It doesn't matter what you wanna do. If you wanna decorate your home, if you wanna give gifts, if you wanna make a meal, if you wanna just stay in and watch some movies and order takeout then he's down.

Sully doesn't care for the holidays and he finds the whole time of year to be annoying, to be honest, so you'll only be celebrating with Liu.

And you decided that you wanted to decorate your home a bit for the holidays. It was a simple way to celebrate the holidays, and you didn't even have to leave your home to get any decorations since you had some stuffed away in a box in your closet.

When you had told Liu that that was your plan, he was eager to join you. It's been so long since he's been able to do anything for the holidays, and he was just... really excited to finally have someone to spend them with.

You made sure to put on some music to play in the background while the two of you got to decorating, and you'd tell him where to put certain things if he didn't know what to do with them.

You two chat with each other as well during all this, sharing random memories and stories from your childhoods. Some were happy, some were sad. Sometimes, Liu would trail off mid-story and you'd have to change the subject to something lighter.

At some point, when a particularly romantic song played, you set down the decoration you were holding and pulled Liu away from the one he was setting out so you could take a break and dance with him.

It got the brightest smile out of him. The brightest one you've ever seen.

The bitter sadness and nostalgia that comes with the holidays lingered. It would always linger, honestly, but it was easier to deal with when he's with you.

And he was excited to make new memories with you. Ones that'll make him smile when the holidays roll around again.

HI I DELIBERATED OVER THIS FOR A BIT BUT. CRINGE CULTURE IS DEAD. HERE ARE MY ARBITRARILY ASSIGNED OUTER GODS TO THE MECHS AS WELL AS MY EXPLANATIONS

buckle up this is. going to be quite long. i couldve made this easy on myself by making them all have one eldritch patron guy but apparently. i like making my life more difficult i guess

Starting with Marius bc ive thought. wayy too much about this one. Ever since i laid my eyes on this little freak i knew he was being haunted by horrors unknown to man. and the horrors ive settled on for him is the Outer God Tru'Nembra! Tru'Nembra most commonly manifests as discordant, formless music, and is the symphony that the outer gods dance to in the center of reality in lovecraftian lore. It most prominently features in the short story by the bastard lovecraft himself called 'The Music of Eric Zahn' (dont recommend it is. quite ableist. like reallyy ableist.)

-My reasoning for assigning this to Marius is honestly a bit flimsy--it's based on his unknowing violin summoning, as in the short story eric zahn is also a violinist! He's described sort of like he's fighting off this strange music that seems to be trying to attack him via his own violin playing, and if i remember correctly the narrator describes him seeming to go into a trance while fighting Tru'Nembra? It was also never named in the story, the name was given by a later author/creator i believe. that's my main canon compliant reasoning for assigning trunembra to marius.

-idk if you know hatchetfield but to those that do. Tru'Nembra's relationship with Marius in my head is like that of Paul and Pokotho/Pokey in a lot of fanon content, obssessive and possessive and desperate to keep Marius playing at all times. It doesn't like Marius interacting with other Outer Gods, as much as a vaguely sentient patch of music can like or dislike anything. Marius is its special little blorbo and it'll do anything to keep marius 'safe' while at the same time putting him through the horrors.

Moving onto brian, as ive thought about him just as much but im a bit more. deranged about it. if that gives you any indication of the mess of headcanon and au were about to plunge into. I chose Aletheia/Alethoz! (in lovecrafts short stories, if i remember right he calls them aletheia, but as im pretty sure thats the name of an already existing greek god, i've elected to change it when i write with these guys. lovecraft reallyyy liked to steal from existent mythologies/religions for no apparent reason. there's probably going to be more outer gods who get this treatment as i do more research)

-Alethoz has connections to truth and puppetry, hence why i decided to go for her for brian! Brian's whole thing with both his morality switch (often in fanon contexts located on the back of his neck or the small of his back, could be kind of like being puppeted by the whims of others) and the fact he's regularly described as being painfully honest or an 'honest man' lead me to draw the connection to these two. (Also metal and wires--in order to make its puppets, Alethoz often replaces peoples spines with wires. which is just a banging aesthetic i must say.)

-in the. more au-ish territory. my brain decided i could do a lot of fun and funky and angsty shit. if alethoz is literally his mother. and im sticking with that, i think his mortal mother summoned an eldritch god and decided that she wanted to marry her and have a kid, like it was a normal and reasonable action to do. i wont say anything more bc i Am writing fics and i want some details to be a surprise im just slow and needed to get all these thoughts out of my system somehow

Next up!! Is Ivy! Who I've connected to Azathoth! Her's is actually probably the most simple and was the easiest for me to come up with while i was playing around with these ideas

-Azathoth is called the 'Blind Idiot God', and is the demon sultan at the center of reality referenced in the bifrost incident! it's the strongest, the oldest, and the wisest and has prophetic dreams it can never remember. the connection with knowledge and dreams one can't remember are what made me draw parrallels with him and Ivy (also they are both. very red coded to me.)

-I think ivy probably didn't ever mean to create a connection between herself and Azathoth, but i think it happened sometime before her mechanization in her desperate pursuit of more knowledge. i think she came across an ancient tome she never should've found, and went a little mad with power. eventually she died, and was mechanized, and she no longer remembers that time, but the connection is there and still lurking somewhere inside her.

next, we have everyone's favorite gunner, Gunpowder Tim! Who's connection. is probably the hardest to see? lkdjafjl it works in my brain at any rate. i decided to pair him up with Mh'ithrha, who. isn't technically an outer god? but is close enough to it and has beef with yog sothoth so im counting it for my purposes.

-Mh'ithrha is actually the 'leader of the pack'? so to speak? of the Hounds of Tindalos, basically weird fucked up dogs that aren't really dogs that hunt people who attempt to time travel and appear in corners. they may not be dogs, really, but both the hounds and tim are very dog coded to me?? so. that's it really, tbh -idk i just think tim deserves to be a little bit fucked up and creepy and. like. i have a really convoluted backstory for this one but its. quite a long explanation so like. maybe ill save it for another time kajflkjdkjf

for ashes, this one is also a little bit obvious, though i did debate between this one and a different fire themed entity, i ended up going with Tulzcha! who's name i may change at some point idk it just doesnt hit the vibe personally

-tulzcha is a pillar of green fire that embeds itself into planets cores before erupting and (i think??? information unclear akdjfklf) destroying the planet. obviously with ashes, anything wiht fire would work as that's their whole Thing, but something about tulzcha being something like a sickness that plants its roots in the core of a world and infecting it resonates with me with how ashes takes over planets, slow and steady and with manipulation until they take it out in a blaze of glory -also i think ashes deserves to be a little green coded. as a treat.

for the Toy Soldier? I went with the Hydra! which isn't a normal hydra and also doesnt have an actual name. it's basically an entity that steals the faces of people, and tricks people into letting it use them as hosts via astral projection in order to decapitate and steal said faces! Pretty gruesome! And unnecessarily complicated if you ask me! -i decided to connect it to the Toy Soldier bc it kind of has the vibes of like. masks and pretending to be something you're not? Like, it steals heads and faces quite literally, but also using that as a metaphor for it pretending. it's wearing the face of something as a mask to hide the things it actually is, if that makes any sense? -admittedly i need to workshop how this manifests with ts a bit more too. though the violence is also a reason afkljd;fkjaf

For Nastya and Aurora (and also carmilla but im on the fence bc theres a few others who i kind of like better for her??) i actually went with the same outer god! Uvhash, who is some sort of weird vampire creature as far as my research has lead me to believe. Whoever summons her witnesses violent and horrible deaths as well, and that's just an average day on the Aurora jdlkfajlkjd

-For Nastya the connection was mostly that her blood was replaced in order for her to gain immortality? It's the blood and the bleeding to death that's always so reminiscent of vampires. not to mention how she was killed during a violent revolution, and Cyberia met a violent end one way or another.

-For Aurora, it was sort of the flip side to Nastya? the last remaining piece of her original body is her heart and her veins. She carries with her death and violence, and wherever she and her crew go violence always follows, as her arrival summons violent death upon poor helpless people of various planets. tthere were also. no other gods i could reall think of/find that fit aurora

and with jonny..... i don't have any ideas akfjldkajf his narrative thing itself is quite interesting! And there are no existing outer gods, as far as i could find, who even remotely fit Jonny's narrative thing, probably bc the outer gods were not necessarily made in the context of knowing they're a story-they were made in the context of being all knowing and all powerful things who are indifferent to humanity but who bare witness to the struggle and cause suffering and madness nonetheless.

-so jonny gets to be special and gets to have his Own thing going on--he gets to be completely in tune with peoples stories and the narrative of their lives, being able to tell what's important to a person and what's significance it played in their life, and what paths their story is most likely to follow--whether its a tragedy, a comedy, or something along those lines. He hears the narrative, and he knows its there and it follows everything they do and everything they witness, but he doesn't realize no one else can hear it

First, I want to acknowledge here that I am white. Like translucent white. So I'm gonna try my best to answer this in a knowledgeable way, but if I say anything offensive, PLEASE call me out.

Though my hair is vastly different from yours, I understand the feeling of wishing your hair was different. It's so frustrating to try so many different things only to not get the results you want, and then to look in the mirror and get that sinking feeling. I'm so sorry you're feeling that way.

I could be giving you advice that you've already heard, but have you tried talking to/looking up people with your same gender and hair type to see what they do (on tiktok, pinterest, instagram, etc)? One thing that I've done to help affirm my gender is look up ways to style my clothes, makeup, hair, etc based on my current appearance to be more gender affirming, and it's helped a lot.

Also- and this is a scarier option but I've done it before and it's actually really exciting- Pride is coming up. If you're able to go to a Pride event, look around for people with similar hair types to you styled in ways you like and ask them what they do. I know it's scary to go up to people, but 99% of people at Pride are FABULOUS and I (an introvert) have talked to people at pride about things like that before and have learned so much. It could also be a great way to make new friends!

Last, I want to remind you that no matter what your hair looks like, no matter how you choose to wear it, or how it acts a certain day, it doesn't make you any less YOU. Your identity is valid whether or not your hair is cooperating.

(Sorry, I feel like this will probably turn out kind of long, I'm pretty bad at being concise lol)

For context, I'm in my final year of high school (the important year that actually counts), and I've always been quite school-oriented with good grades, even if this has become harder in the past year because of mental health stuff

The rest of my friend group is really school-oriented as well, it's the main thing we talk about, especially my best friend, who's really good at being productive and has somehow managed to end up as like the only person in our grade who's actually on top of her schoolwork

And the thing is, even though I'm not bad at making 'friends', I'm really bad at making friends - as in, feeling close enough to tell them stuff, texting them and hanging out with them regularly, etc. My best friend is the only person I've had that relationship with since I started high school, and I really treasure that

The problem is though, because I'm the person she vents to about everything in her life, I get constant updates about all the schoolwork she's done and how productive she's been and how on top of everything she is and how stressed she feels for this exam because she's "only done a dozen practice essays" or whatever

And because I'm constantly feeling stressed about the fact that I find it harder to study than I used to, and I'm always beating myself up for not studying as much as I feel like I should, hearing her say that stuff to me hits all those mental health pressure points and it really, really sucks

I know I should just set boundaries, but she's much better at making friends than I am and I know there are other people she texts about her problems to, so I'm worried that telling her that will lead to distance between us, and I really like being the person she turns to when anything happens because I've never been that for anyone and I want to support her

So I think the thing is, this is one of those moments that shows you if this really is a deep friendship or not. You say you can talk about deep things with this friend- now's the time to prove that. I think you need to sit her down and tell her how you're feeling: that when she tells you the work she's finished, it makes you stressed. But also tell her that setting this boundary is making you nervous, because you really treasure your friendship, and you don't want to create distance.

I know it sounds scary to be vulnerable like that, but to have a truly healthy friendship, you have to be able to talk about stuff like that. And I think if your friend cares like you say she does, she'll give you reassurance and talk about it with you.

Wellll see I kinda ditched the entire Jedi!Sabine narrative. Listen if they HAD to go that direction, I believe they could have done it well but they really did not (to put it generously), and while I've considered trying to do it better myself, at the end of the day I wish they just hadn't done that at all.

Tldr: Ahsoka and Kanan probably will have a giant wolf to giant wolf conversation but idk if it'll be about looking out for Sabine or searching for Ezra or what

So this is my tentative and unrefined interpretation of Ahsoka and Sabine's relationship for SWW Ahsoka, aka roughly how I imagined it would be like before that damn show ever came out (sorry in advance this spiraled all over the place. I meant to elaborate a little bit and then I couldn't stop. I tried to keep it concise but. There's a lot to unpack that I didn't expect to have to unpack in order to get to the point lol)

First and foremost Sabine isn't fucking Force-sensitive. Ahsoka teaches her a lot about the Jedi, and continues her lightsaber training, and I think Jedi teachings and excercises can have a lot of value to ordinary people! But she's not trying to be a Jedi. Ahsoka does feel mentorly instincts towards Sabine, partly bc she knows what she's going through as a very young veteren and genocide survivor. Partly bc she does feel the need to pass her knowledge on to someone. Partly bc deep down Ahsoka is pretty damn lonely too, and Sabine is very family-shaped. And also because wolfwalkers stick together.

They call her Ahsoka's 'practice padawan' as a joke. Huyang is like. You really ought to find a Padawan one of these days. And Ahsoka's like. Why would I need a Padawan I have Sabine. And Huyang is like. Listen I'm very happy to have Sabine with us but you ought to get a real Padawan.

But how could Ahsoka ever take on a student while she's still wrangling with whether or not she wants to be a Jedi? Which, they never actually show her making a decision on that. Or rather there's really no transition between "I am no Jedi" and whatever she's got going on in the show which. Long story short, I hated it. Ass writing. In my personal opinion.

I think I’m just gonna lean into the idea that she feels like she can't truly be a Jedi whether she wants to or not bc she was trained to be a soldier instead, combined with the fear of Anakin's darkness manifesting in herself, distrust of his training, etc. Up until the point where she decides to put Anakin behind her for good and trust in her own experiences, during her WBW adventure (which goes way differently in my head but I will elaborate on that later. Maybe.) But for the purposes of this au, she doesn't even commit to being a Jedi again until dying for the 3rd(?) time and honestly maybe she still doesn't. Maybe it takes all the way to wet puppy Shin dropping in her lap that she sees her path as a Jedi path. Idk.

Ahsoka's arc is not an aspect of the story I expected to address in depth myself so idk how much I'm gonna get into it within the comic itself. It's hard to go over every issue bc lothwolfwalkers is just an anthology series adapting small chunks of the timeline that I find work well with the wolfwalking, and I'm trying not to make more work for myself than I have to, bc I already have plenty. Rewrite is maybe a strong word, when I'm just cherry picking what I liked from the ahsoka show and adjusting what I didn't like in a way that keeps the overall plot intact for simplicity sake. I will eventually write an official detailed ahsoka-from-my-head post, but the comics will just be little scenes based on that.

Anyway,

Regarding Sabine and Ahsoka's falling out. It doesn’t happen. In fact I think Ahsoka will take Sabine under her wing after the fall of Mandalore and they just immediately start looking for Ezra in the unknown regions, bc Sabine is like hey I have nothing left here can we go look for my brother now. They don't find anything. Eventually Ahsoka gets wrapped up in other business and Sabine ends up back on Lothal depressed as fuck (despite Kanan, Hera, and Zeb's best efforts to be there for her, infinitely more than what is depicted in the show) until Ahsoka finds the map and shows up for round 2. Or smth like that.

Side note: I am going to declare the Wrens MIA not dead. Because I hate hate hate that they were unceremoniously killed off screen and wasted the way they were. I guess I could just unkill them completely but well I am a sucker for that angst and something about the devastation of that reveal seared it so deep in my head that I can't imagine the story without it now (thanks for that Dave. Fuck you Dave.) So uh, they're trapped on Mandalore with those other survivors from Mando S3. After Sabine's already left for Peridea they manage to finally get off Mandalore due to S3 events and track down Hera and are like WHERE IS SABINE. Cue Clan Wren Ghost Crew team up to get their fucking kids back. Though everyone will probably make it back on their own before they figure out a way to hop galaxies.

I don't love this story, but "Hannibal is effectively braindead after the fall, but Will keeps caring for the body and feels that Hannibal is there with him, up until the body dies and Will turns himself in because there isn't any point anymore" probably counts as the most angsty? If you are in the market for a "Hannibal receives a brain injury and he, along with everyone else around him, has to cope with that" story Tina's For Remembrance (Holes in the Floor of the Mind) is a much better pick. And as I continue to think about it, Means of Influence has a pretty angsty ending.

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my stories have slightly bittersweet but still mostly happy endings. Part of the thing about that is I think it's really hard to envision a situation where Will is like 100% Happy Happy, his own mind hates him too much and every little scrap of happiness needs to be fought for and then vigilantly guarded. But I put both him and Hannibal through so much that I always want them to be as close to content as they each can be.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I have gotten two flavors of Fic Hate. 1.) People calling the five year old kid OC in ATTACHMENT slurs like "r*tard" and saying "he belongs in jail" and etc.

Every time Hannibal or Will fuck someone who isn't each other at least one person decides to Yell At Me.

I think I've gotten the old "you didn't tag for bottom Hannibal!!" nonsense once or twice too, but who hasn't?

A little. I actually started Hannishark bc I was really intimidated by sex scenes and wanted to see if I could pull off a short monsterfucker story. The Stark succession crisis is set up to be the funniest thing in the world because it just doesn’t exist for its delusional fans.

According to grrm’s affc and adwd outline, Sansa resolves to take the North, which means it’s not just going to be Littlefinger doing it without her input, she’s actively going to want him to mobilize the Vale army. Then you have Jon who’ll have a faction supporting him + Robb’s will legitimizing him and declaring him his heir. Then you have Bran who is the actual heir to Robb, but no one knows he’s alive. Then you have Rickon, whom the Manderlys support. Then you have Arya, who has some of the Northern lords too.

Then you have the Northern lords wanting to use the direwolves to legitimize the identity of each Stark kid. Then you have the North who has always operated under an inheritance system of male-preference cognatic primogeniture. In short, it’s hilarious as fuck because unless each of these kids says “no you have it,” I doubt “Stark unity” will easily resolve it. But hey, since everyone says the Starks are immune to the problems that plague the other houses, I’m sure they’ll all sacrifice their claims to give to their siblings and usher in a communist and anti imperialist utopia! (but without giving back the North to the CotF of course).

And the push back to this is even funnier because it proves that the Starks are probably the worst written “heart” of a narrative in fantasy literature. None of the other families are immune to conflict and angst. The Lannisters and Targaryens may be extreme examples, but the Baratheons, Martells, and Greyjoys have internal conflict as a foregrounding aspect of their arcs too. Sibling rivalry is supposed to be a central theme of asoiaf. The resolution is there too, but none of the other families just get a “well we’re the protagonists and our genes bestow protection against conflict so we’re fine.” The notion that genetics produces a family of ontologically benevolent people who are incapable of moral harm or internal conflict is explicitly fascist, btw.

So, either GRRM is writing a fascist narrative that privileges the Starks based on their bloodline and genetic destiny, against all of these other families and houses that apparently aren’t blessed with Honorable Unity Genes (tm), or he’s showing that no feudal house is immune to the effects of the game of thrones. Moreover, even beyond the reactionary optics of highlighting one specific house as unique among a sea of selfish warmongers, it’s just not good or interesting writing.

In short, it’s hilarious as fuck because unless each of these kids says “no you have it,” I doubt “Stark unity” will easily resolve it. I ended up busy all day yesterday so I decided to add some little drawings to spice up my reply <3 I'm gonna resist yapping about Baldur and Cato for this one, and I'm gonna save our sweet Bjorn and Eret for later yaps. Instead I decided to focus on some other dragon hunter OCs!

People who have read OTWD might remember Sikka for her antler hood or nadder spear, but under the hood she's got incredible tattoos called tunniit. Tunniit are part of the Inuit tattooing tradition that Eret’s tattoos were inspired by. In real life they’re typically seen on women, and these days a lot of women are getting them again to keep their traditions alive, so I decided that based on Eret’s I would give each northern tribe their own kakiniit that identify their tribal affiliation and family. Since our httyd northern tribes live in the Arctic between Greenland and Russia, I figure the tradition probably spread from Greenland! The forehead portion is similar triangle shape for everyone in Sikka’s tribe and represent antlers (there might be variations in exact design based on the family). The chin portion represents one's individual role or honors a family member. Sikka's represents a herder tracking the hoofprints of a reindeer, and her mother had the same. She belongs to the Reindeer Tribe of Reindeer Valley, near Griselda's Fortress and was only 16 when she joined Cato's crew (she's ~21 in OTWD). Griselda refused to hire her at first bc her mother had ended up in a terrible, fatal conflict with one of Griselda's top men that caused controversy between her tribe and the hunting operation, but Cato insisted on giving her a chance. He's extremely proud of her skill and loyalty, and she loves him like a brother, so betraying him in OTWD was not an easy decision. The moment he realizes Sikka's abandoned him is when he decides our heroes have really got to pay, bc he hasn't just lost a payday or even his second chance with Gustav but also his horned shadow. I'm SO excited to see her again in Into the Polar Night, she's going to have a very important role and I think it'll surprise everyone. Hopefully it won't be too long before I post a playlist for her <3

The other two OCs here will only appear in Gustav's short which is tentatively titled How To Hunt Your Dragon LOL

Ragnall is the quartermaster of the Goregutter, the first hunting ship that Gustav and Cato work on, and he's essentially Gustav's boss despite not being much older than him. He manages the ship and deck for the captain Harald Bloodaxe, who handles the business side like choosing where to port and hunt. Ragnall does hunt dragons but he doesn't manage the dragon hold where they're kept, that's up to a slavic man named Wyrmhart (Cato's boss). His mother was the witch Skuld, and he grew up working whaling boats in Thunderhead Bay, and some of the men grumble that he practices witchcraft. He's strict but generally fair, and likes Gustav just because he's a high quality sailor relative to a lot of the hunters. On the other hand, he despises the mainland vikings who are converting to christianity and their christian Saxon neighbors, so he's particularly prejudiced against Cato, who barely even speaks fluent norse at this point (if he'd bother to ask, he'd learn that Cato isn't a christian, but you know how prejudices are). Ragnall is pretty important to the overall OTWD series for a few different reasons actually, so I can't wait to write his story. I think everyone will find it shocking and fun hehe >:)

Siraj is the 19 year old son of an extremely wealthy trade lord from Marrakesh who pays to bring a lot of Griselda's cargo through the Mediterranean. He's apprenticing under Harald and Ragnall to learn the ropes (literally) of sailing and managing a trade business because his father wants him to have practical knowledge before taking over the business, since he's been raised in a very privileged and comfortable life. He went to university in Marrakesh, so he speaks multiple languages and really boggles Gustav's mind with his knowledge haha. He's really sociable and is Gustav's first friend on the Goregutter, they have a fun gang of friends. The only thing he's not involved with is the actual dragon hunting, since that has nothing to do with running a trade empire. He does go home after his time on the Goregutter so he isn't involved in the plot of ITPN or TOTG, but I imagine that he keeps traveling all over the Silk Road and making friends everywhere before taking over his dad's business.

Whew that was some MAJOR yapping but I'm so glad for the chance to talk about some of my dragon hunters. A lot of the hunters are just background people to me, like the background Berserkers, and I don't really consider them OCs, but these three definitely are <33 my actual reaction to this ask:

your work is all so amazing!! do you have any advice for writers who maybe want to start writing longer fanfictions?

Ahh!! Fhhfkf thank you!!! ;^; I don't know how useful or coherent my advice might be, but here's what's helped me in the past:

1. Know what kind of writer you are. If you work better by starting with a structured outline, do that, but make sure to actually start WRITING the scenes after that lol. If you get more momentum by diving in and just seeing where the story goes, do that, but make sure you have a DIRECTION to go in. A healthy balance of planning and discover-as-you-go is the most fun in my experience. (I usually start by improvising and having fun with a concept and then gradually cornering myself into planning lol. By then, planning isn't a chore; it's just satisfying to see everything fall together.)

2. Don't force an idea to be a long fic if it doesn't need to be. If you feel like your concept would be better served by a short fic, do it justice by not stretching it into a shape it doesn't need.

3. If your concept is bigger and does need a long fic format, make sure you know what threads you're weaving together. Write an actual list of themes, subplots, and character arcs and keep track of them, and figure out how you want to pace them in relation to one another.

4. Have resources prepped! Name banks for minor characters; notes/links to articles on the time period/environment/culture you're writing about; pictures that inspire you; songs that hype you up for your story or the characters... Mostly, if you don't like doing research, START LIKING IT. Find joy in researching the symptoms of hypovolemic shock and the native flora of Northern China. Look up multiple sources for each little topic. (I just keep a messy list of links and notes in the bottom of my docs lol)

5. If you get stuck or bored, revisit the source material. Watching/reading the original story can remind you why you got so excited to write fic about it and refresh your ideas.

6. If you're bored while writing a scene, it's probably boring to read. Don't turn writing into a chore. Think about what needs to happen in a scene and why it matters, find what you care about in it, and follow that. If it starts feeling like you don't need a scene and that you were just using it to fill in time, cut it.

7. My favorite thing: don't be afraid to write out of order. Write little blurbs or pieces of dialogue for chapters way ahead, if you have something in mind! Give yourself a goal to catch up to. It'll help you get the big picture of your whole fic and then fill in the scenes you need to get there.

8. Don't let people tell you what to write!! This goes both ways: if people say "it should've gone like [thing you don't wanna do]," tell them to shush and write their own shit. If they say "it would be so cool if [thing you were already planning] happened," do it anyway! You don't have to change just for the element of surprise. Don't twist the story out of place just because someone guessed your awesome idea. Everyone will be happier for it.

9. Don't settle for your first draft if it doesn't feel right. If you're working on a scene and it doesn't fulfill what you need, restart it from as many angles as necessary until you're happy. Seriously, building off a scene you don't like will make you feel dissatisfied and poison everything to follow.

10. Talk about your fic with people who hype you up about it. If you're not used to writing long stories, do what you need to keep you motivated and EXCITED about it. If asking someone to beta read helps you, do it! (I almost never ask for beta readers bc I'm a control freak, but honestly they can be so helpful.)

11. The forbidden tip: if you lose interest halfway through, it's okay to drop it. Do what makes you happy. You don't owe anyone anything and you're doing this for free. Try to finish it though lol, it's so satisfying to see a work complete. Do it for the dopamine at the end.

Disclaimer: I write long fics 1) because I like to soak in them and savor them and 2) because I don't know how to shut up and write short ones lol. I deeply admire people with the skill to just say what they need to say and wrap up a story neatly.

Also, I don't follow my own advice. Plenty of my scenes have fluff that I could have cut but didn't because Mark Twain is dead and can't tell me what to do lmao

OMG OKAY SAME. i've been using ao3 forever, and only came onto tumblr to read/write fics a couple years ago. but until that point i had only written multi-chap fics so... yeah 😭 a reality check, to say the least. it sucks bc there used to be a lottt more series on here when i first started a blog, and now there's ... not. which there's a lot of reasons why i think they're declining, but people not supporting writers is the main one :/

i much prefer them as well, i feel the exact same way as you!!! i loooove to get into a lengthy fic. and i understand why people tend to write one-shots more bc writing longer fics takes a lot of time, which many don't have, and this is a hobby. but, i feel like on ao3, i have never published something and been like ohh this will flop BECAUSE it's long. which is how i feel on here :(

You did seem appreciative of my first batch of L/Mello headcanons so I guess I'll give you a few more because I'm such a great mutual like that (is this gaslighting)

- I firmly believe Mello is a smoker or at least a drinker. Based on this idea, I bet Mello would've tried to get L to drink/smoke at least ONE time. Long story short: L damn near dies (he is NOT suited for either of those) and Mello spends the whole night trying to compensate for nearly killing his bf

- In the car they ALWAYS argue over what radio station to pick (Mello is probably a metal or rock enjoyer. L either does not like music or he prefers classical. A part of me wants to say maybe he likes some pop songs sung by women or all girl bands. OOH WHAT ABOUT L AS A SPICE GIRLS FAN). So, they either take turns with the radio station each car ride, or they just end up not playing the radio cause they can't reach a conclusion (They're both stubborn as hell).

- Mello borrows L's clothes constantly. L will have just gotten out of..his washing machine? Or the shower.. (Mello probably found the washer thing odd and just started forcing L to suck it up and take real showers. L wasn't happy but Mello is persistent), and he sees that Mello is just shamelessly doing whatever wearing L's shirt (bonus if he just ditches the pants or..anything else underneath. I feel like it'll only be so long before I border on kinky headcanons). L is mostly tolerant of this, and depending on his mood, he'll either just skulk around nude or he'll try and coax Mello into giving his clothes back (this gave me really suggestive fic ideas).

I think Mello probably smokes fancy cigars on occasion and you're definitely right in saying that L's not a smoker/drinker LOL at least not of anything more than fruity wine. <- thinking about drunk L is actually so funny. Mello's used to going shot-for-shot with Matt (who usually out-drinks him) and L's hunched over the toilet puking because he can't handle hard liquor. LOL. Mello would probably pretend to feel bad but secretly enjoy this very much.

TBH I definitely agree with you that I see L as liking classical/jazz music and I think it's DEFINITELY true that he enjoys cutie girl pop music <- he's a Misa-Misa fan, duh. But in my head this scenario is a big source of tension in their relationship even if neither of them realizes it, because Mello tends to defer to whatever L wants (in terms of stuff like music, food, etc., not everything but the more 'unimportant' things) and this isn't something that's super-suitable to Mello's headstrong/opinionated personality LOL. So he bites his tongue a lot/will just listen to whatever shit L wants to put on even if it's not what he wants to listen to -> L does not know of and/or appreciate his sacrifices (they are not sacrifices but Mello sees them that way) -> Mello harbors resentment. Etc. This can and must be rectified through nasty sex.

short answer to the first question--yes! i have one true halloween fic (which means it directly involves halloween) and one (maybe 2...and if i squint 3) halloween adjacent/fall vibe fics that may be coming out before halloween, but will probably be up by early november lol

so the real halloween fic is based on a request that's almost done, but i won't be posting until the 31st (final girl fic universe inspired, but not actually set in the universe bc of the timeline)

(i also have some other final girl/billy, stu, and reader fics/requests but i doubt they'll be up by halloween, but maybe close enough to early november to still count ?)

i also have a tate request that i've been working on that doesn't mention halloween/revolve around halloween activities, but murder house is such fall/halloween content that i think it counts (even if i don't finish it until early november lol)

the 2nd fall fic is a twilight fic (jasper x reader) that i started writing bc fall is definitely twilight rewatch season, but i'm not sure how i feel about it so who knows if it'll see outside of my drafts? lol

the 3rd fic is definitely coming at some point (a jason todd x reader request) that has fall/early winter undertones but bc DC/jason todd in general aren't inherently fall and idk if it'll be done within the halloween season window,, i have no idea if it counts
