Three Things Fic roundup thingo!

1. Most popular fic: would be Embers (Drarry, Explicit, 40k), my strange progeny. I wrote this in a feverish state of knowing exactly what I wanted it to be, and how I wanted it to go, and in a fit of the stars aligning I was happy with it at the end. The response blew me away when it posted, and I’ve wondered what made it so popular, other than it having a blend of things people were particularly craving in Drarry at the time. My favourite scene is definitely the wisteria kiss. One day I will commission art of this, I thinkkk. I also pine for the days when I could write a 40k fic lol.

2. HIDDEN GEMS: This is infinitely harder than the most popular, as that was just a matter of looking at my stats lol, but hidden gems is a bit trickier. I think my picks are:

- Almond Blossom: (Jeddy, Explicit, 4k) This was a hell of a good time to write, and for that it is a gem. Fucking about with AOB dynamics is my old faithful and this was written to clear out the cobwebs, make someone I adore smile (Hi, Rosiee), and be shamelessly horned up, and happily, she did just that!

- Darling, Don’t Think Twice: (Harry/Teddy, Explicit, 18k) I have a story. While writing this, ‘darling, don’t think twice’ was always the working title, based on the lyrics to a song I’m obsessed with: Fine Young Cannibals by Wolf Parade. When finished with my fuck-away-your-abandoment-issues-clap-your-hands opus, pleased with myself as I was, I belatedly googled the lyrics and they are not what I’ve been hearing since like 2013 lmfao. Anyway, it’s a real banger of a song and maybe the real hidden gems were the lyrics we misheard along the way. Also, I still really like this fic.

The older I get the more I admire people who are earnestly, genuinely into whatever their thing is. I know it sounds like an annoying cliche but unless you're being cruel or hurtful there is really no need to be normal about things. The dude with the bad fake accent at the renaissance faire is having the time of his life. The people having photoshoots with their fashion dolls are loving it. The old lady with a yard unreasonably full of tacky ass lawn ornaments is having a blast, HOA be damned.

Don't waste your time being too cool to have fun, y'know?

academic bias is so funny because you’ll be reading about the same historical event and one person is like “Despite the troubles that befell his homeland and near constant criticism of the court King Blorbo remained strong in the face of adversity” and the other one is like “after letting his people carry the brunt of his cringefail decisions Blorbo the Shitface refused to listen to any reason and continued to be a warmongering piece of shit. Also he was ugly.”
