I’ve noticed that majority of them are high in jealousy, If it’s okay to ask how do some of them act when they’re jealous? (I don’t really have a specific character in mind, maybe Seth or whoever you’d like to write for!)
Seth: "Who was that? Oh, just curious. You look worried suddenly, are you afraid I might do something to them? Aw... you're just an adorable open book, aren't you? Unlucky, the fact you displayed so much worry about their well-being makes me want to hurt them even more." Tatsuya: "You shouldn't hang out with other people, they are liars, they don't want you for who you truly are. I do! I love every single breath you take and every single time you glance at me like the first time, isn't that enough?" Yuuta: "You adore giving me a hard time, don't you? If you keep things like this you'll have to deal with the consequences. What do I mean? oh, you'll find out soon." Yotsuya: "My love... how would you react if all the people you love were suddenly pushed away from you? you would hate that, right? yeah... I guessed as much. Then you should start taking into consideration my feelings because you're the only one I love and you keep inviting... people to your life and that just fucking pisses me off." Dr. Kurosaki: "Well haha, these feelings are new for me, you know? I rarely felt jealous... in my life, ever. Such a feeling is too... foreign to me, I don't know what to do with myself. Sigh... I guess you can't be mine fully if I let things keep going this way."

🌺 ☺️ 👀?
Ahhhhh a BE ask?? For me??? Thank you! 💗
And sorry for the upcoming ramble lakjdfljksf i go crazy for them
From this lovely ask
☺️ A character you wish was explored more
This is actually a tie between Jae Yi and Yu Yeon for me, it's so hard to choose.
Jae Yi because she's the love of my life light of my life, and her recovery process in the 2nd part of the series I feel was a bit rushed/ambiguous in favor of, well, *gesture vaguely at the rest of the plot*. Especially since the first half of the show established her in such a strong compare/contrast position to Dong Sik's grief. I want to see if my baby actually did return from Busan, if she still longs to leave to find her own life, or has she found what is worth building for back here, in the butcher shop, on her own term in her own words this time. I wish the show addressed that part a bit more.
For Yu Yeon I feel like it's a bit of a missed opportunity to have her and Dong Sik be twins and not go buckwild on the haunting, the presence that stretches and reaches, the severed connection, traces of her that linger through him, how he both tries to remember and not think about her (that flashback about the ring that he gave her! That was so good! I cried, sibling tragedy is my jam! But there's only the one scene!). I'm sort of interpreting the show's message as it is as the Absence, like you feel the pain through What Is Not There, and also as the Uncertainty of her disappearance, the incapacity for DS and everyone else to move on: should they speak about her as if she'll be back soon, or as if she's forever gone for good? That's also nice! But, because the show revolves itself around these missing women, I can't help but wish for more exploration of their personhood, even symbolically through Yu Yeon.
🌺 Where are your favourite character(s) going next?
Ohh, tough quesh! Especially since the talented folks in the fandom have already written hundreds of post-canon getting-together goodness for JWDS. My vision is a slow romance, maybe probably dancing that water between QPR and romantic, but being undeniably a package deal and always loyal & affectionate toward each other. And DS can finally experience the peaceful time in his life, even if the shadows aren't quite gone. And JW can have career fulfillment finding & helping missing people in whichever way he can, that it's a source of satisfaction instead of a constant reminder of his guilt. That's my happily-ever-after for them.
(Might I also throw my ace Joo Won headcanon here? In my head he's a sap and loves hugs and the intense touches that are on-brand for JWDS, but he's also sex-repulsed. I cry happy tears whenever I see him being explicitly written as ace, I can't get enough of it. Mad respect for the horny JWDS content tho, you guys are great - I love watching everyone enjoy it even if i don't engage w it)
For Jae Yi I already said a bit above! But yeah, I hope she can go wherever she wants, try out whatever future she likes - maybe she'll travel a bit, keeping in touch with Manyang all the same. And maybe she will comeback to the butcher shop or not, but if she does, I hope she will finally make the shop her own, adding decorations, experiment w the menus, change around, make a mess, be happy, etc. You go girl! Do what you want!
👀 What would you like to see if they did a season 2?
If i have it my way season 2 would just be a slow romcom (with a basket of angst because that's who I am) with same title, same font, same color palette & poster style and no explanation LOL. You get a closure, you get a closure, everyone gets a closure.
But in a more serious tone, I don't long for a season 2, I think the show as it is is pretty much completed, but if that ever happens hm... I would like to see the theme of "Beyond Evil"/"Monster" explored through different premises, but not necessarily with the same cast. There are some themes that I think were under-explored in the show as it is (ableism, the so-called loopholes in the laws, etc.), so if they move on from the "missing adults" premise and tackle those topics as a central theme this time, that'd be a thoughtful continuation that I'd like to follow. It's hard to say!

Hi! If you’re still up for that prompt game, how about the 1st one with the made up parable/fairy tale? I’m curious what you’d think Belka and the Witch’s Shop is about.
The people of the village never trusted the witch. She did not age, they said. She wanted nothing and no one, they said. She was full of greed and magic, they said. Magic can come from no good means, they said.
Belka's parents thought that was all hogwash and scoffed at the other villagers who would hide when the witch came by. They refused to trade with the villagers who protested at the witch's door or tried to lock her in.
The witch came out of her house every week to collect herbs or stones for spells or to collect groceries for herself. Belka's family ran a food stall in the market, and they shared with the witch many kind words. For many years, Belka was too young to man the stall, so she rarely spoke to the witch herself. But the witch would catch her eye and wink or make bark twist into pretty shapes for her amusement. Belka loved the witch. She would wait behind the mounds of vegetables and loaves, peering out in hopes that the witch would come by.
When Belka was older and the witch was the same age, they began to talk. Belka would not say much, but the witch? The witch would share stories. The people she helped or could not help. Kings, merchants, thieves. All were welcome in her house. She called her house her "little shop".
For those that need something this market does not offer, she told her with a wink.
Belka could not understand why the villagers hated the witch so much.
One year, there was a plague of locusts that ravaged the farms of the village. There was little to eat and nothing for her family to sell.
Belka went to the witch’s little shop.
The villagers were far to busy with their own problems to heckle outside her door, and the path was clear. The witch smiled when she saw Belka at her door. She waved for her to come in and brewed her a warm cup of tea with sugar and lavender and milk, a warm luxury. Belka breathed in the smell deeply and let the cup warm her hands.
She explained her need, and the witch told her it would be granted without question.
But I have nothing to pay you, Belka said.
You’ve paid me a thousand times with a thousand smiles and a thousand kind words and kinder actions, the witch said. You’ve paid me a thousand moments of listening to my stories. I ask no cost of you or your family.
But I must pay you somehow! Belka said.
The witch smiled and winked and told her, Fine, if you insist. Drink your tea and tell me a story. This will be your payment.
And so Belka told her a story of chasing leaves in a field and finding a cat where the leaves fell. She told her of warm sunny days and cool autumn nights. She drank her tea and felt it warm her inside.
The witch handed her the porcelain teapot and told her to pour the remaining tea over her family’s fields. And, if she so chose, a few drops over the fields of the others in the village.
Belka thanked her and ran to her family’s land. Where the tea poured, the plants began to grow and take on a healthy shine.
Then, she walked through the village of people so full of fear and so full of hate, and she poured a few drops on all of their land too.
And the witch smiled through the window in her little shop.

i think we should remind musicians they can absolutely make up little stories for their songs btw. it doesn’t have to be about them at all. you can invent a guy and put him in situations to music. time honoured tradition in fact.

One of my biggest nitpicks in fiction concerns the feeding of babies. Mothers dying during/shortly after childbirth or the baby being separated form the mother shortly after birth is pretty common in fiction. It is/was also common enough in real life, which is why I think a lot of writers/readers don't think too hard about this. however. Historically, the only reason the vast majority of babies survived being separated from their mother was because there was at least one other woman around to breastfeed them. Before modern formula, yes, people did use other substitutes, but they were rarely, if ever, nutritionally sufficient.
Newborns can't eat adult food. They can't really survive on animal milk. If your story takes place in a world before/without formula, a baby separated from its mother is going to either be nursed by someone else, or starve.
It doesn't have to be a huge plot point, but idk at least don't explicitly describe the situation as excluding the possibility of a wetnurse. "The father or the great grandmother or the neighbor man or the older sibling took and raised the baby completely alone in a cave for a year." Nope. That baby is dead I'm sorry. "The baby was kidnapped shortly after birth by a wizard and hidden away in a secret tower" um quick question was the wizard lactating? "The mother refused to see or touch her child after birth so the baby was left to the care of the ailing grandfather" the grandfather who made the necessary arrangements with women in the neighborhood, right? right? OR THAT GREAT OFFENDER "A newborn baby was left on the doorstep and they brought it in and took care of it no issues" What Are You Going to Feed That Baby. Hello?
Like. It's not impossible, but arrangements are going to have to be made. There are some logistics.

You know, it's kinda funny how much of high fantasy centers around kings and nobility and courtly intrigue considering that the archetypal high fantasy, Lord of the Rings, had the rather explicit moral of "saving the world is up to this backwater hick and his gardener because no politician, least of all inherited nobility, would have the ability to see past their own ambition and throw away a weapon". Oh sure, Aragorn is a great king and all, but there's a reason he's over there running a distraction ring while the hobbits do the real work. Sauron loses because he gets distracted by kings and armies and great battles (i.e. typical high fantasy stuff) letting Frodo and Sam sneak through his back door and blow it all to hell.
Just saying, maybe old Jirt knew what he was saying when he said that the small folk doing their best and holding to each other was more powerful than a dozen alliances and superweapons and we should respect him for it.

closed starter for: @mkumine from this ask prompt: [ 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐦 ] sender is helping the receiver through a panic attack / severe anxiety. pairing: fallon & travis!
Tumblr media
checking twitter while already in a bad mood was a foolish idea. the long term therapist that she had been seeing since her teen years suggested abandoning the app entirely and she mostly did - except for today. boredom got the better of her and she found herself endlessly scrolling through think pieces about pop culture that she'd been disconnected from for year or so now. and then curiosity got the better of her, so she started searching her own name to figure out what the streets were saying. she knew that searching yourself online was a rookie mistake and it would only put her in a negative hole, but once she started, she couldn't stop. one would think that she was bulletproof to criticism at this point in her life and she was, to a point. the endless praise that she'd received throughout her career was balance with hefty criticism that often felt targeted and unfair. yes, she chose to pursue pop music as an an adult, even when her parents no longer had her under their thumb. but in her defense, it took her years to find her own voice, say no and disconnect from all the noise surrounding her name. this time she was linked to a british male pop star that she met a couple years ago and had a one night stand with. and he chose now to talk about it?! apparently, there was a scandal regarding how she used him and discarded him to get over a breakup. true, but it happened forever ago! before she knew it, she was hyperventilating and dropped her phone on the floor. "no, no, no - this isn't fair. we all make mistakes and we all have rebounds. why am i being attacked for this?!" in an attempt to calm herself down, she ran into the living room and into travis' arms. "trav, people are talking shit about me again. and save me the lecture about using twitter, okay?”

Nothing will dispell the "the curtains were just blue" myth faster than writing something yourself, because the amount of pretentious symbolism i am putting in my silly little fanfics is ridiculous. I mean SO much with these words, literally every single one of them. This fic has twenty five typos and zero correct uses of punctuation but if there's curtains you bet your ass I put thought into what colour they were.

To illustrate this post by @mayahawkse I would like to visualize to you the difference:
A post in 2023:
Tumblr media
A post in 2014:
Tumblr media
A zoom out of the same post:
Tumblr media
This is what a community looks like.
See how in 2023 almost all of the reblogs come from the OP, from their few hours/days in the tag search. Meanwhile in 2014 the % of reblogs from OP is insignificant, because most of the reblogs come from the reblogs within the fandom, within the micro-communities formed there. You didn't need to rely on tags, or search, or being featured. Because the community took care of you, made sure to pass the work between themselves and onto their blog and exposed their followers to it. It kept works alive for years.
It's not JUST the reblog/like ratio that causing this issue, it's the type of interaction people have. They're content with scrolling and liking the search engine, instead of actually having a reblogging relationship with other blogs in their community.
Anyways, if you want to see more content you like, the only true way to make it happen is to reblog it. Likes do not forward content in no way but making OP feel nice. Reblogs on the other hand make content eternal. They make it relevant, they make it exist outside of a fickle tumblr search that hardly works on the best of days.
If you want more of something, reblog it.
