I love @incredifishface ‘s “One for Sorrow” so much. Ever since I started reading it, it’s been making my ordinary life much happier one. I remember discovering this fic and started reading the first line, “Thor gets home from school, drops his bag, drinks a glass of milk”…from that moment both Thor and Loki started living in my head, I could always clearly see them, the teenager brothers watching movies, driving to school, having a fight, falling in love... I respect the author’s sincere attitude towards the story. I love Sorrow so much I decided to start drawing again for the first time since I was 14, just so I can graphically express my love and passion for this fic!

There was a time after Thor 1 where fanfics focused on Thor and Loki's relationship in a way that I don't think has been satisfied in canon. The ideas here of Thor essentially tricking Loki into a truce, chef's kiss. Also special mention to Loki's vineyard.

Guys. I laughed so hard I almost died. (No, seriously, I accidentally inhaled my pop and spent 15 minutes coughing mountain dew back out of my lungs).

Summary:

After he recovered from the initial shock of learning Thor was in love with him (didn’t just “come home, brother,” “let me help you, brother,” love him but desired him as well, probably wanted to throw him down in the middle of battle and ravish him, wanted to take him hard and fast on hands and knees— Loki stopped thinking about it and got a glass of ice water, because it was making him a little sweaty) he decided the only thing for it would be to seduce him.

There were a number of reasons this was a good, reasonable, practical – just pragmatic, really – plan: regular proximity would afford him a closer strike point, next time he needed one; the intimacy might inspire Thor to spill valuable Avengers’ secrets that could be useful to Loki; it might earn him Thor’s lenience (it was already no challenge to escape Avengers’ custody, but it wouldn’t hurt if Thor went even easier on him. Maybe Thor wouldn’t rearrange Loki’s face so severely next time they tussled if he thought it would hurt his chances of rearranging Loki’s guts later).

Please help me find a fic

This thorki fanfic has been in my mind for long. I don't remember the title, but there is a part where Loki who thought he was gonna be married with Thor but Odin set an arranged marriage between Loki and Valkyrie/Brunnhilde instead. I remember Loki felt so lonely because Val didn't want to touch him. I think in this fic Loki was an intersex Jotunn so he could be pregnant.

I was going through my bookmarks the other day and decided to make a greatest of all time fanfic rec list (at least in my opinion). These are IN ORDER - or at least I tried. They're all great so it's hard to choose. I want to bookbind all of these one day

Starburst by dracoangelic and GingerD - Stardew Valley, Shane/Farmer - Literally the best fanfic I've ever read!!! The author's OC is one of the main characters and is so well done! The world is expanded in the best way. The ending is perfect. I can't say enough!!!

Dresden by hedera_helix - attack on Titan, Eruri - Historical/WW2 AU - The 2nd best fanfic I've ever read and the best historical au. The setting fits so well with the characters. The grief of the war and of being queer during that time period. There's so much here

Victor Effing Nikiforov by shysweetthing - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri - My favorite YOI fic and the best oneshot! It's cute, funny and has a great plot twist!! Love

This is Not a Courtship by midnightsnapdragon - MDZS, Xicheng, unfinished - WOW this is a recent fic but there's so much sexual/emotional tension that builds up so gradually and is SO well done

Les Mignardises by idiopathology - Detroit Become Human, Reed900 - best chef au, I LOVE this fic, I love food and I love reading about characters who love food. The best chef/restaurant AU that I've ever read

Eighteen Wheels on an Uphill Climb by blackeyedblonde - Detroit Become Human, Hankcon, Trucker AU - once again an au that fits perfectly with the characters! as someone from the us south, this fic is nostalgic and fun. A calming read with a sweet ending

Beneath Your Bones by cloudsmachinations - Thor Series, Thorki - I'm surprised it's taken a thorki fic this long to show up on my list but like I said many tough decisions were made. This fic is SO GOOD. I won't call it a soulmate au, because it's not, it's a host? au I guess but so well done. LOVE and my favorite thorki fic

Beside the Dancing Sea by lily_winterwood - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, selkie au - wow my favorite mermaid/selkie fic of all time and a yoi classic, unfortunately it seems it got deleted from ao3 and is in the process of being uploaded again

On My Love by RikoJasmine - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, unfinished - there's not many unfinished fics that made the list but - this one deserves to be here. A "back in time" AU that's famous in the YOI fandom. It's SO SWEET and definitely worth the read.

Unwritten by kaizuka - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, Soulmate AU - my favorite soulmate AU of all time and a YOI classic. I'm pretty sure it was the first yoi fic I ever read. It's so good, sweet and fits perfectly with the series

Stormbreaker by ladylapislazuli - Thor Series, Thorki, unfinished - another "back in time" AU, Wow where do I begin, this fic is so well written and famous in the thorki fandom, the last and most recent chapter is my favorite, it hits so many emotions, shows so much character growth, Thor faces a lot of feelings about his family, unfinished but the feelings it expresses are worth the read

Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches by Reiya - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, Enemies to Lovers AU - I think this is the single most well known yoi fic and for good reason, a slow burn enemies to lovers Victuuri AU, it's just so good

Not in Peace and Not in War by justrae2010 - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, Historical/War AU - my 2nd favorite historical AU ever. The first chapter was originally written as a stand alone for a big bang and the writing in that alone is amazing!!

Animals by stereobone - Attack on Titan, Eruri, Prison AU - my favorite prison AU of all time, it fits so well with eruri and the burn is slow

The act of just being here by Euphorion - SVSSS, Bingqiu - a post canon fic, WOW I LOVE this fic, Shen Yuan having more character growth and letting himself love more, it's perfect, the writing is amazing!

What Gangsters Do by tristinai - Detroit Become Human, Reed900, gangster AU - this is a oneshot that's part of a larger series, however this particular fic is SO WELL Done, Nines goes from hating Gavin to loving him within a few paragraphs and just wow, that's writing goals right there

Just in it for the game by grim_lupine - Thor Series, Thorki, fake relationship AU - I LOVE this fic, it's hilarious, a post Ragnarok fic that's funny and sweet

A Matter of Cats by cato_universe - Detroit Become Human, Reed900 - this is a Nines centric fic and I LOVE it, such a comfort read, libraries, cats, and love

How long we were fooled by Ark - Thor Series, Thorki - famous thorki fic that looks at their relationship throughout the series and at thor's lightening powers, LOVE

Retrograde by bughnrahk - Detroit Become Human, Hankcon, failed revolution end - wow I LOVE this fic, it's so fast paced and thrilling

The Rules for Lovers by ADreamingSongbird - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, royalty AU - another classic yoi fic and one of my favorite royalty fics

Resplendent - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, Hades and Persephone AU - this fic has been taken down but I still had to rec it, it's beautiful

No Ordinary Love by TheFlashFic - Marvel Captain America, Sambucky, Hanahaki AU - this is the best Hanahaki AU I've ever read, so well done

and this fire in my veins by citruspromenade - TGCF, fengqing - a fuck or die AU except not really and it's hilarious!! I LOVE this fic so much

a glide in your step by Yuu_chi - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri - another yoi classic, one of the sweetest fics ever

The Silvertongue and The Thunderer

Loki was raised to expect a future as spouse to a foreign dignitary. Thor was raised to expect a future as a glorious warrior for Asgard. Neither was prepared for what the future had in store.

I really enjoyed this fic. The first half for me is the strongest, the world building for Jotunheim and Loki's impossible task are well crafted and really evoke the wonder and grandeur of a classic fairytale/myth. But, it is clear that this is a 7 year fic. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, completing a project of this magnitude is a huge achievement and it is well made. It is simply clear by the end of the fic that the author wanted it finished and their love for the ship/fandom had diminished significantly over those 7 years, and the author says as much in their notes. What it means for the reader is that Thor evolves mostly off screen, which might have worked if in earlier sections he was less monstrous... but in this adaptation he exists in two intense, semi-connected extremes. Everything else about the fic I was really loving.

Re-reading one of my fav Thorki fics to get out of my reading slump and I just keep pausing to write down a line or two or a whole paragraph cause AHHHH. The writing! The emotions! The structure! The characterizations!

Gosh, such a talent. Such a beautiful story.

Below the cut are just a (tiny) few of my favorite lines from the story.

Satisfaction blooms in Loki’s breast, hot and sharp, to see Thor so wholly defeated. Thor is entirely at his mercy, he knows then in a heady rush. Thor would do anything that Loki asked of him, if Loki but gave the instruction, and the suggestion that it might turn them back into something Thor could live with. But even Loki is not a clever enough sorcerer to have that power, to know the words that could mend them where they are so irrevocably broken.

Even now, even faced with his own looming end if he does not act, Thor hesitates. Thor will always be an insolent, unbearable fool, but he is Loki’s fool; and his death belongs to Loki also. Loki will not let it arrive today.

Ahhh. Just cut my heart out and bleed me dry. This fic has my soul and this pairing will always have my heart.

Okay, you're a fan of those really niche oneshots, but like... rec list please? Because I am also a fan of reading 20ks of nothing happening plotwise except feelings stuff. Especially if it's Thorki. (And especially if it's pwp). :O Please and thank you!

These fics are such a gem to find, honestly. I don’t find them often but I am happy to rec my faves! These are taken from my bookmarks on AO3, and are pretty much all Thorki because I’m Thorki trash. 

If You Love Something, Let it Go by theprimrosepath. This is actually not Thorki, it’s Gen, but this broke my heart into a million pieces. 14k, post-IW, goes back and forth between Thor dealing with the aftermath of the Snap, along with the other Avengers, and Thor’s last memories of Loki before Loki’s death. I just found it the other day and I’ve read it twice since then. 

The Ice by themantlingkdark. (@the--mantling--dark) This is a Thorki Human AU, 25k, where Thor and Loki are twins and slowly discover they’re in love with each other. It starts with them in High school and then skips forward into adulthood. It’s very well-written; I recommend this author’s work in general, there’s a lot of these feels-driven, long one-shots on their profile. 

Only Tomorrow Leads My Way by Izazov. Thorki, pre-canon, 13k. Thor and Loki attend a feast and play a game, wherein they each dare one another to do increasingly bold things over the course of the evening. Subtext and UST galore. 

Brothers by MrHiddles. (@mrhiddles) Another Thorki Human AU, 10k, Thor and Loki are left alone over the summer while their parents are on vacation. Lots of sweet moments and discovering of mutual feelings. 

Oblivious to Things I Never Said by Dezemberzarin. Thorki, pre-canon, 8k. Thor returns from an adventure to find that Loki is angry with him for being away for so long. Feels ensue. 

Doubt Truth To Be A Lie by Dezemberzarin. Thorki, post-Ragnarok, 17k. This is not exactly a follow up to the previous fic, but they do take place in the same universe. Loki decides that Thor needs a wife, so he, Thor, and Val travel to Vanaheim. Subtext, mutual pining, and feels.
