i completely agree with maria tikas. it's one of the best kit announcements that barça has made in recent memory and really does a great job capturing the essence of the club, barcelona, and catalunya. note that barça and nike are about to launch a blockbuster deal that with the improvements in global shipping and international markets, they are starting off with a bang!

so i won't do a frame by frame breakdown, but here are some of the most inspired parts of the video:

barça/brasil - we start with showcasing the long connection between barça and brasil with global icon ronaldinho and then current brasil star, raphinha. next we flash to lamine. lamine isn't brasilian but he has a beautiful creative style of play that shows how the brasil influence has translated to the younger generation in combination with the classic barça way.

facetime call between balde, pau gasol, and hristo stoichkov - this links barça football with the other sections in our club and historical players. gasol is one of the most famous basketballers ever for spain who played at barça before going to the nba. stoichkov was part of the famous johan cruyff dream team for barça

pa amb tomàquet - this tomato bread is one of the most famous and popular dishes in catalunya and you see it everywhere. here, pau cubarsí (the catalan kid) is teaching our foreign players araujo and lewandowski how to properly make the dish. (rub the tomato, don't cut it!)

inesta's "double" croqueta - i loved this part. we see iniesta making croquetas, which is a fried dumpling with meat or vegetables inside. but croqueta is also iniesta's signature ball handling move on the pitch. a play on words!

ball/ballon d'or - one hidden detail. ronaldinho picks up a leather ball and we see the ball all throughout the video, including another player who is carrying the ball, and that's aitana, representing a past and current ballon d'or winner.

pilarín bayés - pilarín is such a decorated artist from catalunya (catalunya has such a rich history of art) and so to have pilarín talk about barça's style of play is a great way to combine the two (and you have pedri and fermín being her students!)

barça femení as castellers - castellers/castells or human castles is a catalan tradition going back centuries and often happens during the big festivals. essentially each layer needs to work together to complete the mission of completing the tower. the base layer of a castell looks like a football huddle and here the women are dressed as castellers on the pitch showing the importance of teamwork.

classic barça moments - and all throughout the video we have so much old footage of classic moments from barça history from johan cruyff's flying kick v. atletí to alexia bowing at camp nou during record breaking crowds. this is the 125th anniversary of the club that is steeped in so much history, so this is a way to celebrate that.

anyway, there's even more to break down including iconic barcelona landmarks and other famous moments from matches, but these are my favourite parts. it's just a well made video! 🫶💙❤️

I will probably post more in depth things about each individual family later but there's some basic information like what their lives are like on Pabu, what the kid's names mean, how they got adopted, and so on about each under the cut!

Guardians Family - The Yuns

Hunter and Jung decided to adopt Mox and Sami (who didn't want to go back to her family)

Later they find and adopt Huihana, thus completing their family!

But it doesn't account for all the other kids Jung and Hunter have adopted mentally and spiritually since they run a school on Pabu

Huihana means "lily/lotus" in Maori and 'Hana' means "one" in Korean

Huihana is half human and half Mirialan - later on when she's older she'll get tattoos similiar to Sami, Mox, and Jung's

Huihana is two years old and the youngest of the Second Gen kids

Mox gets the Pantoran facial tattoo to match with his sister :)

Sami ends up being Jung's padawan basically and ends up adding to her facial tattoo to match the ones Jung has

The family runs a school/camp! Mainly for Force sensitive kiddos, but Hunter also teaches them practical stuff as well

Hunter and Jung are the last of the couples to get "married"

I say "married" because they're already practically married (in a QPR) but they have a whole celebration for the sake of Omega

ScompScope Family - The Cossas

Echo and Viram decide to adopt Deke after he starts to join them on their missions with Rex and Chuchi

And then they have two sons of their own - Tikan and Zisanu - once they feel they've done their part and finally settle down

Put the three together and you get "Dee," "Tee," and "Zee" (that was a complete coincidence btw)

Tika[n] means 'Heavy' in Tsonga

Zisanu means 'Five' in Chichewa

Yeah, their names are meant to honor Hevy and Fives :) I thought it would be fitting

Rex is their godfather (and is totally not bitter about them not being named after him, totally not at all)

Echo and Viram continue to do rebellion work for a while before finally deciding to settle down once their part is done

Every now and then they do go and help Rex though, usually they'll take Deke with them and leave the two others with their Tíos since they're still kinda young (T and Z are not super happy about it)

When they're on Pabu, Echo helps wherever he can and Viram continues her work as a medic and helps out at the clinic

Third of the group to get married - they'd already waited long enough and they decided it was better late than never because they'd pushed off their relationship for the sake of their duties

Starburst Family - The Nultez Clan

When you have a clone and a Mandalorian as parents, you're going to have a TON of kids

Khea had already taken Itri as a Foundling before her and Wrecker got married

Wrecker and Khea adopt Stak in a heartbeat and he becomes a Foundling as well

Marama and Maia are twins (32 minutes apart) and are absolute trouble makers

Marama means "moon/bright" in Maori (fitting with the Star motif of Khea)

Maia means "brave/confident" in Maori (fitting of her personality and her parents')

Elio means sun (again fitting with the star motif of Khea, and going alongside Marama)

Dha'ika is Khea's cat and Lula is the kids' cat

But to be fair, they have a TON of other pets

They basically run a farm on Pabu - Khea still is a mechanic on the side and helps fix things up around the island

First to get married - they'd been dating the longest and it was spontaneous

Techphee Family - The Genoa Family

You do NOT want to mess with the Genoa siblings - they're a force to be reckoned with; intelligent as all hell, charming as fuck, witty, resourceful, talented pilots - they have it all

Except for good eyesight :/

Vela is farsighted

Rangi is nearsighted

Vela means "viligant/watchful" but it's also the name of a constellation taken directly from the Latin word for the sail of a ship (which is fitting considering Phee is a pirate and Tech and her are both phenomenal pilots)

Rangi means "Sky/heavens" in Maori (again, fitting that pilot thing)

Honestly, Rangi is just Mutant Mayhem Donnie if I'm being 100% honest with you (even his voice, I imagine it to sound like Micah Abbey's)

This family is all over the place - while they have somewhere to stay on Pabu, usually they're out exploring the galaxy together and doing various fun (dangerous) things

They practically live in Phee's ship - and they love it honestly

They always bring back souvenirs and stories for everyone whenever they return back to Pabu

Second of the group to get married - you can bet that after supposedly losing Tech, Phee made sure to tie him down and put a ring on him

Sharpshooters Family - The Marr Family

Last ones to adopt because Tay's not confident he's good with kids (it's the one thing he actually doesn't think he's good at)

Because of Tay's insecurities, Crosshair was fine with it just being them but deep down he really did want a kid

So when he was out on a mission helping Echo and stumbled upon an orphan, he didn't hesitate

Took a while for Tay to accept it though because he was terrified he might hurt their new daughter or something, but he soon proves to be a natural

Meet Akona Marr! She's half Nautolan and half Pantoran!

Akona means "to enthuse" in Maori (fits her personality)

She gets a crosshair tattoo to match her Pa and Tay gets something similar and he also caps off his horns so Akona doesn't hurt herself since she likes to climb him

Akona is nonverbal and has a tendency to bite people but her Dads love her anyways

She is spoiled ROTTEN though because like with Crosshair, Tay cannot say no to her

They're a family of fishermen! Tay and Akona are both amphibious races so they enjoy being in the water and Crosshair's enhanced eyesight helps spot fish in the waters despite the glare from the sun

Fourth of the group to get married - Tay took too long to ask (he was nervous) and Crosshair never really expressed wanting a wedding because of everything that went into it and all the attention that was going to be on him during it

More Sonic movie character updates! This time it's pretzel lady, Maddie and resident sheriff, Wade! I didn't do too much to Maddie, just adjusted her head to be rounder since Tika Sumpter's face is naturally round.

But Wade gave me the hardest time because Adam Pally always changes hairstyles every five minutes. I eventually settled on his movie 2 hair because if I worked on it any longer I was going to drive myself crazy XD

On this day, 20 April 1914, the Ludlow massacre took place when US troops opened fire with machine guns on a camp of striking miners and their families in Ludlow, Colorado. 12,000 miners had gone out on strike the previous September against the Rockefeller family-owned Colorado Fuel and Iron Corporation (CF&I) following the killing of an activist of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). They then demanded better safety at work, and to be paid in money, instead of company scrip (tokens which could only be redeemed in the company store). The Rockefellers evicted the striking miners and their families from their homes, and so they set up "tent cities" to live in collectively, which miners' wives helped run. Company thugs harassed strikers, and occasionally drove by camps riddling them with machine-gun fire, killing and injuring workers and their children. Eventually the national guard was ordered to evict all the strike encampments, and the morning of April 20 they attacked the largest camp in Ludlow. They opened fire with machine guns on the tents of the workers and their families, who then returned fire. The main organiser of the camp, Louis Tikas, went to visit the officer in charge of the national guard to arrange a truce. But he was beaten to the ground then shot repeatedly in the back, killing him. That night, troops entered the camp and set fire to it, killing 11 children and two women, in addition to 13 other people who were killed in the fighting. The youngest victim was Elvira Valdez, aged just 3 months. Protests against the massacre broke out across the country, but the workers at CF&I were defeated, and many of them were subsequently sacked and replaced with non-union miners. Over the course of the strike 66 people were killed, but no guardsmen or company thugs were prosecuted. I read your fic that talks about the cryomancer culture and I was so fascinated with them if you can I need to know more!!

ahhhh I'm so glad you liked it!!

So, my version of Cryomancer culture is still evolving, so stuff might change but basically

They called themselves Ischeti, which translates literally to Snow Singers, and they had their own realm called Iskari which translates to Sleeping Snow, or Snow's Sleep, which was a very hostile place for any who were not cryomancers. Music was deeply important to them and they prayed primarily through song.

Dragons, called Tika were native to the realm and formed close bonds with the Ischeti quite frequently, to the point that many Ischeti were dragon riders, which when coupled with their abilities, made them a formidable military force. To be called Tikavox, meaning Dragon Child, was a great honor bestowed only to those who had proven themselves resilient, formidable, and kind in great measure.

As Iskari had many natural resources that were desired by other realms, such as a metal that could nullify all forms of magic as well as make a cryomancer more powerful when properly forged by a priest, and gemstones that could store memories to be viewed at a later date, as well as plants with potent medicinal properties and so on, Edenia tried to engage in trade with Iskari

However, the metal was sacred as it was known as Dragon's blood, or Tikarezo, and could only be found in places where dragons were buried or had fallen, forming from their veins and hearts, and it was used in religious ceremonies. To give it to an outsider was unthinkable, though the Ischeti were willing to trade the gems. Unfortunately the gems were very rare and so they did not have as many to trade as Edenia wanted.

Eventually, under Queen Sindel's reign, Edenia tried to conquer Iskari without mortal kombat, seeking to occupy the realm rather than absorb it. But no matter how many soldiers Sindel devoted to the task, for every Ischeti they killed, ten more Edenians would die. This went on for a thousand years before the queen tired of it, declaring Mortal Kombat.

I've been working on hammering out a set of rules for Mortal Kombat, since canon does not provide any, and one of those rules is that in order for the tournament to end, either the aggressor or the defender realm must win ten consecutive tournaments, and the Ischeti lasted for 32 tournaments before they fell, despite living only 500 years to the Edenian's 50,000 year life span. By contrast, Edenia lasted 27 tournaments against Outworld.

After that, Sindel outlawed cryomancy and the act of bonding with dragons, as well as the vast majority of the Ischeti's religious ceremonies and rituals, leading to them eventually leaving and moving to Outworld where Shao Khan proved an even crueller ruler. Before long, the Ischeti left for Earthrealm with the few dragons they had left, settling in Northern China in a region that resembled their former realm which they called Arctika, or Home of Dragons. Edenia still has possession of most of the Ischeti's sacred objects and artifacts, many of them made from the gems that hold memories (I haven't thought of a name for them yet) which contained memories of their many ceremonies and important days, such as the Etlara realm, the crowning of monarchs, etc

There, they founded the Lin Kuei, which was not a clan of assassins at the time. Instead, it was a refuge for any who sought it, be they Earthrealmer, Ischeti, Outworlder, etc. The name Lin Kuei was given to them by outsiders, and literally translates to Forest Demons (as far as I can find), with many thinking their powers and strange appearances meant they must be demons.

The Ischeti were formidable warriors and defended their new home as needed, eventually providing aid to others for similar ends when it was requested, which gradually lead to their becoming assassins.

The Ischeti naturally have bright blue or white eyes, with white hair being very common. They also tend to have fangs and dragon like pupils and an extra set of vocal cords which allows them to make similar sounds to the dragons they bond with.

Over the years, these traits began to fade and cryomancy became less common for reasons they do not know for certain, though they suspected it was because they no longer had access to Tikarezo, which was deeply embedded within their religion and day to day life. The only scrap of it they had left was the Dragon Medallion, a symbol of the Royal house which was to be held by the reigning monarch. The medallion was eventually co-opted by the Lin Kuei grandmasters as a symbol of their leadership.

Due to their lack of immunity to Earthrealm illnesses and the weakness that came with a lack of Tikarezo, Cryomancers began dying off alarmingly quickly until only a few bloodlines were left, most of whom had lost the ability entirely. The royal line was the only one to maintain the gift of cryomancy.

Sub-Zero and Tundra are actually bastardizations of the Chet words (Chet is their name for their language, meaning song) for Ruler and Heir respectively. Sub-Zero was originally Sut-Sawel and Tundra was originally Tondira (I will take criticism on that if anyone has criticism to offer), with Sawel being the name of the god most important to the cryomancer pantheon.

The royal house did not rule with absolute power but as part of a council who were primarily made up of those elected by the people as well as the head priests of each god.

It is a gifting of lights and diyas, and special eats made in homes .. and the culture and tradition persists and is celebrated in all homes ..

I went to one last night to my dear friends' homes .. Aie, or Ma as they say in Marathi .. welcomes me with the traditional 'tika' on the forehead, rice blessings on the forehead and head, and a 'diya aarti' ..

A blessing, to be given the respect and dignity and love from them all - the elders .. the elders ever bless us all and we live and prosper on their guidance and care and teachings .. EVER !

Wow a lot has happened in the past week and because I feel like its appropriate and you all deserve at least some kind of explanation as to why I am falling off the face of this website CONTINUOUSLY whilst promising to come back, here's what's up.

Tuesday last week I was called in for a transplant, rushed to the hospital and sometime Wednesday woke up with an extra brand new organ and a team of medical staff keeping me going.

It's new, all so new. It's tender and unreliable, so many things are up in the air as to what the future holds. Right now it's focusing on doing my health stuff per drs orders to keep the kidney alive and growing stronger. And there is no slowing down. If I'm not actively doing the requirements, I am sleeping cause your girl is so tired, my body is healing and so is my mind.

It's fucking scary in so many ways and I'm truly trying to be optimistic. I think I am, I am really working on not letting myself get into any negative headspace. Wouldn't you know getting to see Tika again after a week really helped with that. I missed my girl so much.

Dogs are lifesavers.

Anyways, that is what is going on. So it really isn't forever, but it is my right now moment, and I'm so damn grateful to have it. And a little sad sometimes, someone had to say goodbye in order for me to have this chance. I just hope that I can honor that, it's something I have been thinking a lot about.

But yeah, thats kinda the short version of what is Amber doing lately, I hope all of you are finding some good in life and taking care of yourselves. You Matter, You are Loved, You are WORTH IT.

haha, anon. there's definitely more at play here than just starting a foundation for the tax benefits. because the increased salary is a pittance compared to the millions in revenue alexia has already been making off her brand and sponsorship deals. so if she doesn't have a tax plan in place already, then it's too late for her 😂😂

and certainly alexia is not the first football player in the world to start her own foundation. and if we think that then asisat oshoala, alex morgan, and the naomi girma-led "create the space" initiative would like a word.

as for what the foundation is doing, we have some updated details from maria tikas:

it will consist of several academies - the first will be based in mollet. think of a la masia style setting but for underprivileged girls where social educators and football coaches will work together to give these girls access to education, football training, and social and emotional support.

on 19 june, another academy will be inaugurated in itagüí, colombia.

at the end of the year or beginning of 2025, one in mexico will open. and there is a commitment to open another one in 2026 in the dominican republic.

the budget is secured for the next ten years.
