I love how much culture is built from your design motifs for Pokémon fusions. I feel like every Diancie fusion live in the same country. It would be a fun challenge to world build with your designs~

Ahh, thank you! Im glad you think so :] When designing fusions I tend to use the body as- well, the body (and sometimes personality), and then the head for the 'aesthetics'. For Diancie heads, that's really leaning into it's royalty theming- be it by leaning into the classic regal pretty princess elements, the cute wedding ones, or even a more armored knight look using it's golden parts. That way, even when they're not necessarily designed to resemble one another they all still look properly like they came from the same 'family'.

Same way I tend to really lean Ho-oh into a very 'elegant' theme, colorful, but something commanding respect too- even stuff like a Carbink body should still look like it has something legendary in there, even if its just a silly baby!

I dont necessarily have lore for most of my fusions, but I always do make an attempt to make them look at least somewhat grounded and connected to both the established Pokémon world and eachother, so I'm super happy to hear they're working in that way.

Occasional Visits

Once upon a time, there was a man who had a pit of Lazarus and was the Head of the League of Assassins. Perhaps the Lazarus is rancid ecto, and the death emanating from all of the members around to it is really starting to pull some attention.

And perhaps, one High Queen of the Infinite Realms early on had decided that, "Man, I gotta check this out." Time, of course, decides that "That would be a good precaution. Just be careful." And gives a few time portal visits.

Now, imagine those visits keep going. For the Head of the League, it is a first meeting of suspicion followed by rivalry, before the years churn along into an amicable acquaintance. For the High Queen, it is a FrootLoop who needs to be kept under watch, before years grind down the drive to continue messing with his plans and go back to managing the Realms and allowing for others to take action.

Contemplate the idea that only five years with visits for the High Queen is decades with occasional visits for the Head of the League. Maybe it is an occasion that is now greeted with a bit of celebration, for someone who he can talk too and know from the past who isn't now against him or dead.

And maybe, just maybe, he's about to get another visit. Right in the middle of something important. Who could say?

Just- Imagine the one guy who's been through wars and disasters of all shapes and forms, who's literally torn himself to shreds, endured all elements including fire, broken every bone in his body, been captured, kidnapped, stabbed through and emotionally destroyed and has single handedly suffered and mentally survived two thousand years of this crap, and it turns out he's terrified of like. Ducks or something.

The very interesting way that sb94 writers are well aware that Kon is a child and still immature as he (as to be expected from people who are 16 but also 1 year old) is trying to make sense of the world around him but also like …. Puts him in these immensely fucked up and traumatizing positions with none of the concern that would normally follow such heavy storylines is what makes it an equally frustrating and compelling read. It hits like a gut punch every time you analyze its themes past surface level cape shit. It goes from “oh he’s so wacky” to “oh….they’re def exploiting him rn” within one page. It’s actually kinda horrifying.

It’s like when you’re watching home alone and Kevin’s mom is calling the police to go do a home check on her 8 year old son that she accidentally left in the house by himself and they’re like …. Lady. This is nothing to get hysterical over. You’re wasting our time. There’s no reason for us to do that shit lol he’ll be fine. And you’re just sitting there like oh wow, that’s… that’s not?????? And then that terrifying reality sets in that’s like oh yeah … not leaving young kids alone at home only stopped being socially acceptable VERY recently. And then you have to spend the movie watching this little boy be endearing and charming cuz he’s smart and capable enough to get himself out of these sticky situations but he literally should not have to be. He should not be in this situation at all, actually.

That’s how it feels reading Superboy 94 sometimes. What do you mean you don’t have a birth certificate?????????? WHAT DO YOU MEAN “CUTE IN A JAILBAIT KIND OF WAY”????

Status

Life just got crazy so any delays are going to be exacerbated for a while.

For Handprints, I didn't like this next arc so I'm completely redoing it from the ground up. I don't want to do releases until I feel I've gotten out far enough ahead on it to avoid continuity errors. The other goal for edits to this fic is to make the crazy crazier, the hot hotter, and the sweet sweeter. We're going all in.

UCS Horizon is also being worked on. I'm slowly working my way through another chapter to ship to my beta reader for that. Someday I want to draw the bot and con designs for that since I've given up trying to make it fit into any continuity and have decided to sling together my own.
