In a quick Google search, I come to find that Mater was probably born January 12th, 1957, making him 49 in the first Cars movie. In further research, Sally is speculated to be late 30s to early 40s, meaning everyone in Radiator Springs (besides Sally) is 40 and up. Lightning is speculated to be early to mid 20s. Now I'm in love with the idea of everyone hating Lightning at first because he's this borderline angsty teen who thinks he's so much better than everyone else and everyone is so tired of his crap at first, then grows to love him after a while.
That Cars fanfic is looking pretty good right now...

what if i made a fanfic about mater being the one to be with doc in his last moments? i know a lot of people are more interested in lightning and doc angst, but id like to see more content about doc and maters relationship. after all, one of the reasons doc became lightnings crew chief is because of "mater not being able to say goodbye." two down, another to go.
This is going to a mix of about 4-5 different prompts and it’s going to be very much a doozy, esp. because of the fandom choice. It’s extremely late, and I’m not expecting anyone to see this until sometime tomorrow, but the fandom oddly enough is Cars. As in the Pixar movie!
It’ll be an extremely niche reader group but oh fucking well. This is what I’m fixated on writing apparently. For some explanation, it follows the most alt canon to ever be written but it is implied to take place following the events of Cars 2! Lightning is still a racer and at the top of his game, though things take an unexpected, sudden turn in this - since I just like to be mean when it comes to my favorites lmao which includes this boy. Also! Keep in mind everyone is human.
I will say he gets to go through it and is loosely inspired by a great series on Ao3 which I will link later if I can find. It’s definitely becoming its own multi-chaptered work though I’ll cover that later since I’ve no idea if people will be interested in that!
Read below the cut for more information about the Cars whump prompt!
Whumptober Event
Following an alternative canon, Lightning McQueen has returned for another year of racing in order to win the latest Piston Cup, but when things take an unexpected turn for the worse - will he be able to pick himself back up again?
The characters are, of course, humanized. Timeline wise, it’s supposed to take place after Cars 2, but presumably before Cars 3. There are a few key differences from the canon franchise however.
Cars AU Headcanons
I am not incredibly mean, so despite that my love for angst, suffering, and whump - Doc Hudson is not dead. Also because I’m a complete sucker for Doc’s dynamic with Lightning McQueen, and is a huge part for the incoming series/whump writing event.
Mater is very much Not Straight. He doesn’t have a label on himself, but after breaking things off with Holley Shiftwell - he has begun catching feelings for a certain someone. We’ll get to this later!
Mater is also Extremely Autistic and ADHD. You can’t convince me otherwise, holy shit
Lightning McQueen is so ADHD. This is canon now. I make the rules!
Sarge and Fillmore are in a committed relationship, and have been ever since the 1960’s. This is not center to the au I’m working on, but it’s also going to be referenced so,
Doc Hudson has mobility issues and uses a cane to help him walk. His crash won’t be a main focus, but yes, the cane is a mobility aid due to scarring from the incident in his youth!
Hurt Lightning McQueen means adoptive parent Doc Hudson. This is all you’re getting!
Finn and Holley might not appear in this installation, but they’ll probably get referenced in some way!
Lightning is an orphan. It’s unclear what happened to his parents, so all the people he has are from Radiator Springs.
While it’s not a major focus in this version, and is more in the past, I am very much a Harv basher. Have fun with this!
I’ll expand on this universe later, but the short version - Lightning deals with the aftermath of an incident during a race and the road to recovery is far from easy; at least he has his found family to help every step of the way. In other words, I traumatize Lightning for my own whump serving purposes. I’ll be in touch!

Way down we Go
[AO3] Rating: E WC: 1K Tags: Outside Sex, GNC reader, Rough Sex, Quick Sex, Porn with Feelings Fandom: The Outer Worlds (Video Game) Ship: The Captain/Maximillian DeSoto Disc: After a close call with Max in the field, he pulls you aside before you're back at the ship. (Originally posted Feb 2022)
“Captain.” Max’s voice rang out to you, quiet in the abandoned bar. The title made your eyes move up, looking from the terminal in front of you. The information was mostly useless, just correspondence about orders.
“What’s up, Vicar?” You couldn’t help using his title back at him, dancing off your tongue. You let your eyes move from him, ignoring how his lips pressed together for just a moment. You almost didn’t see it, but you were used to watching his small expression shifts, clear as day to you now.
“We almost lost you.” His words were void of emotion, unable to share what he so clearly wished to.
“Yeah…  I’d really appreciate it if you didn’t tell any of the crew about that. Don’t really want to have them worrying more than they already do.” After a particularly bad run, most of them realized how dangerous what you all were doing was. But your words spoke to an order, not a suggestion between friends.
“I’m not planning on it.” You felt his hand on your shoulder, a gentle weight against the thin fabric you were dressed in. This wasn’t supposed to be a dangerous mission; just a recon for some small items. Someone would pay big bucks for the information stored in the terminals you’d seen. Either way, you were glad you hadn’t worn too much armor, if it meant you got to feel how warm and strong the man’s hands were.
“Is something wrong, Vicar?” You saw the concern once your eyes moved from the hand on your shoulder up to his eyes, concern clear in the depths.
“We almost lost you.” He couldn’t help looking away from your gase for a moment. “I almost lost you.” The words weren’t said flippantly, emotion tangled into the syllables.
“You almost lose me every day.”
“Not like that.”
“Like what?” You held a warning in your voice, clearly waiting for just how he would phrase the next words. You felt his hand leave your shoulder, fingers dragging against your back just for a moment longer.
“Normally, you have the protection of armor and at least one other person other than me. You’re not this,” and here his words caught for a moment. “Vulnerable.” He was firm in his choice, unwilling to argue about the exact word. You let the silence stretch between you two, thinking over your words.
“At some point, you have to accept the truth of the matter, the actual universal truth. We all die, eventually. We’ll never know how it’s going to take us, so you have to make the most of what you’ve got, when you can. Find your home, and…” Your shoulder lifted, and dropped. “Live.”
“And what’s to stop me from making my home here, with you?”
“The mantibeasts, mostly.” Your lips curved up just slightly, rueful in the horrible humor. You were proud of the words, when you saw his lips turn up.
“Not your disagreement?” He took a step closer, closing the distance between you.
“Not in the slightest.” you took the other step needed at your own words. His hand came up to your chin, turning your face just right to meet his. His chapped lips pressed against your own, kissing you with enough passion to pull your breath away.
“I don’t think we’ll get better privacy for a while, but we’ll have to be quick.” You matched his gaze, passion clear between you. His hands dropped to your pants, pulling them down to your knees. His own followed suit, turning you around to bend over the counter you’d just been searching. His hands were effective on his own pants, pulling them down when there was a growl from outside. You both paused for a moment, weighing the benefits for just a moment. You felt him at your entrance, and you nodded, making the decision quickly.
The push in was tight, just a little painful. You felt his hand move over your mouth, his large hand pressing over you.  His chest pressed against your back, lips pressing against your neck again.
You heard him softly whispering against your skin, but you couldn’t make out the exact words he was saying at first. But when his head turned slightly as his thrusts started, you realized he was reciting scripture you didn’t care to learn. His words were soft, until they faltered when you tightened around him. He stuttered for a moment, until he finished with the words.
“Are you going to stay quiet if I speed up?” His words were whispered into your ear, and you didn’t hesitate to nod. His hand slipped down from your mouth to your throat, pausing for just a moment. It was clear he was silently asking for permission, that it was okay he did this. You bit your lip, pressing just slightly into his strong hand. It tightened around your neck, only enough to make a point, suggest something for later. And you were certain that you were going to take him up on it.
Your hand slipped between your legs, searching for that peak you needed. Your teeth caught your lip, trying your hardest to be silent.
His head pressed to the crook between your shoulder and neck, his teeth pressing into your skin. It was all you needed to finish around him, your moan muffled against your own hand. He finished shortly after, painting you with ropes of cum. He turned your head, pressing your lips together for a final kiss. It showed more than you’d expected, emotions pouring out easily after that show of passion.
“You’re not sleeping in our cabin tonight.’ You promised him that the moment your lips separated. “That’s an order, Vicar.” Not that there was doubt of it.
“Only if that means I’ll be with you.” There was a glint in the man’s eyes. This was the start of a new path that you weren’t sure where it would lead. You knew that it could cause issues, conflicts of interest, but there was some small part of you that really didn’t care.
It was clear by the glint that he would do anything that his captain could order him to do. And you were planning on using that fact liberally.

Of Loss and Longing - A trans Stranger's tale
If you're an enjoyer of The Outer Worlds and a member of the LGBTQ+ (or even just a really chill ally) head over to AO3 to read the first chapter (of many to come). It's been about a decade since I've shared any fanfiction with the world, and this game really inspired me. I'd love if you gave it a read.
Enjoy!

One of the ways that I know I'm not really built for fanfiction is that whenever I start something I get real focused in on the world building and how the characters fit into it and often get distracted from the original thing I was trying to write (filthy porn)

So I may have used my playthrough of The Outer Worlds to indulge in my desire to see some even darker AUs for G Gundam (since there is no shortage of opportunities).
Spoilers for a 30 year old anime and a 4 year old video game to follow, obviously.
My excuse for why anyone from G Gundam is in fucking Halcyon relies on two things changing:
the presence of an exodus into other star systems in G's setting (not that weird given the tech levels)
Domon actually succeeding at apprehending his brother without finding out the truth (maybe justifiable assuming he actually landed where he was supposed to and stumbled upon the Devil Gundam right when Master Asia moved it to Shinjuku).
Given these assumptions, my thought is that there is no way Ulube actually keeps his end of the deal re: letting Domon's dad, Dr Kasshu, out of cryo sleep. It's possible that in the show his plan was to blackmail the man into silence but that's still a witness AND victim running around being a liability to him, and he already has his accomplice Mikamura to worry about.
As a result, I think Ulube would JUMP on the opportunity to get rid of not only the witnesses to/victims of the Devil Gundam Incident, but also both his witting and unwitting accomplices by shipping them all off to another star system.
He'd probably immediately shove Kyoji into cryo to shut him up. Then, he'd move the goalposts for Domon by making something up about how Difficult It Is Getting An Acquittal In This Country, and that Domon would probably be older than his dad by the time he actually gets to see him again (a lie which, if Neo Japan's legal system is anything like the criticisms to its IRL counterpart, would have a grain of truth to it).
Naturally, Domon would be pretty upset by this. He'd probably accuse Ulube of lying to him and going back on his promise (true). Ulube would then play the sympathy card, claim he wants nothing more than to help given the service Domon has provided, etc. etc. etc, and then once Domon is at peak desperation Ulube brings up an alternative.
Instead of potentially waiting years or decades to see his family again while the legal system grinds its gears, Ulube offers to arrange a deal with a program meant to colonize other star systems. If Domon signs the necessary paperwork in his father and brother's absence, Ulube can secure them all a place on an interstellar transport called the Hope. Domon and his family all spend only 10y in cryo, and see each other immediately when they're all woken up at their destination.
Ulube probably gives Domon a few moments to think, and then pushes him further. Mikamura's also going (Ulube has plenty with which to threaten him) and his daughter, Rain has decided to come with. If Domon stays in the Neo Japan colony or on Earth, he never sees several of the people he's close to again, and has to wait for a non-guaranteed chance to see the rest.
Boarding the Hope would mean Domon never sees his teacher, Master Asia again, but Ulube's summary of the situation makes it sound more and more like the better option. Domon writes his master a letter saying goodbye and signs the paperwork.
Things going as planned for the Hope would mean it would take 20 years for anyone on it to make it back to Earth to question Ulube's report of what happened, and that's if the Kasshus turned around and came back as soon as they all woke up.
Per the opening of The Outer Worlds, things don't go as planned. After 70 years, Ulube has almost definitely died of old age. He's won.
And the Hope is adrift in the outer rim of the Halcyon system. Halcyon's technology is insufficient to safely revive anyone who has been in cryo for more than a decade or two. The only person who has tried is a wanted criminal.
(Which, admittedly, is something of a plot hole if we combine the two settings because the way G Gundam uses cryo definitely implies that Earth can revive people who have been in cryo for extended periods... but on the other hand Halcyon *is* run by buffoons and the original techs who revived the Groundbreaker might not have had that knowledge. Or died in the interim. Or the colony lost that particular bit of knowledge in any number of ways because there is extensive evidence of a widespread habit of not maintaining systems until they fail, cover your ass rather than admit to ever making any mistakes, etc, etc.
We can fill that hole with screwups similar to what we actually see in the game. When the Hope is found almost 30 years after it was supposed to arrive, someone went to look up how to revive people and oh shit the database is corrupted. Shit. Where's the senior cryo tech from Groundbreaker? They got pink slipped 20 years ago. Maybe we can ask Earth- no that would involve admitting we fucked our databases up. Up until now the ship was missing so it's just going to stay that way.)
So at the beginning of The Outer Worlds we have Dr. Phineas Welles sneaking onboard and looking through a manifest for a candidate to attempt to revive. He's pretty sure he's figured out how to do it this time, and this might be the last attempt he can make because he's out of one of the key chemicals he needs. But he's not certain. Welles needs someone he can be fairly confident will help him, but wants someone more a little bit more expendable than the brightest minds on the ship.
Welles hits pay dirt when he finds a group of passengers with the same last name and a promising history.
Two of them were exiled from Earth due to criminal charges, and have extensive knowledge of biology, robotics, and terraforming. Hell, he's pretty sure he's read some of their papers.
Welles briefly considers reviving either scientist. It would be nice to have someone he could relate to around, and surely they would understand his goals. Having family on the ship would be a strong motivator to rescue the other passengers, and hey! the criminal record implies (to Welles at least) a healthy disdain for authority that would motivate them to throw in with another fugitive!
But no, he doesn't revive Raizo or Kyoji Kasshu. Welles does not want to risk dissolving anyone he thinks is brilliant enough to actually save the colony. He also considers and decides against reviving Rain Mikamura, a talented engineer and medical doctor, for similar reasons.
Instead he goes for Domon Kasshu. A man who, according to his report, had already gone to great lengths in attempt to save the same people Welles has his eye on. A hand-to-hand combatant in peak physical condition would be unlikely to die should the revival succeed, and this one would be easily led (Welles thinks it lucky that he got to him before the Board did).
Domon doesn't yell at Welles as soon as he wakes up, but it's close. Right about when Welles slams the door to some kind of pod in Domon's face, Domon's fist connects with the door, and Welles is met with a volley of questions.
"Where's my dad? Who are you? What do you mean bad news!??"
Domon isn't familiar with all of the terminology Welles is using but is deeply disturbed by the concept of exploding or being liquefied, and continues to bang on the door.
And now the old man is asking for his help. Domon's family and his best friend are still frozen on that ship.
It feels like the Gundam Fight all over again.
Except the person asking him for help this time is (proudly) waving a Wanted poster in his face.

The Can-Do-Crew were working on an important project. They were fixing Farmer Pickle's stable. Lofty picked up heavy wood tiles with the tip of his hook. Dizzy carried wet cement in her backpack.
"Hi Lofty!" Dizzy greeted. "Are you excited?"
Don't say anything, Lofty thought. Be cool.
"The stable's going to look all nice and brand new. There's going to be new and fresh colors. And less splinters."
Dizzy sucked her thumb. There was a huge splinter that had somehow gotten into her opera glove.
"Are you okay Dizzy?" Lofty asked worriedly. Dizzy winced. She was trying to get through with the pain; but the splinter was burrowing deeper every second.
"I'm okie dokie!" Dizzy shouted. She started to cry.
Lofty never felt this nervous before, and he was always a worrier. He couldn't bear seeing cheerful and perky Dizzy this down.
"I'll help you," Lofty said. He knelt down. Lofty yanked the splinter off of Dizzy's thumb. Dizzy screeched; it was a sharp but very short pain, and the splinter was finally off.
Lofty wiped the tears from Dizzy's eyes. She smiled. The little cement mixer kissed the blue tow truck on the forehead.
"Gah! No, stop that!" he flustered. Then Dizzy ran off to play in the woods.

It just occurred to me that maaaaaaybe the Pearl Clan, in the Beautiful Decline AU, would have some misgivings about letting their venomous Noble run off with the 100% human who came out of nowhere?
They're still trying to figure out antitoxins and stuff. And how it affects organic matter.
They know that Lady Sneasler (Lady Mercury Claw in the AU) has some darned strong venom, though. It'd be very bad if she accidentally cut Ingo and poisoned him.
But nope, there she goes. Taking him with her.
Eh, she'll be careful.

everyone is just losing their shit because lightning has fucking DIED. docs about to shove his head into a brick wall, sheriff looks like he’s going to go into a panic attack, maters okay? HELL NO. he’s been HAVING panic attacks. you’d think he’d move on just like that but have you seen?? how he reacts?? whenever lightnings on the verge of death??? (cars 2 and cars 3 specifically, although I don’t see cars 2 as canon.) sally has practically been a corpse for the past three days. don’t worry flos cooking the pain away, oh, the foods salty? maybe because blood, sweat and *literal goddamn tears* have been put into the food, sarge is dead (not literally), fillmore is deader (not literally), lizzie has enough issues she doesn’t need more, red doesn’t have to worry about watering his flowers for a good while, his tears are already helping the flowers. everyone is just losing it.
i need a fanfic to the towns responses to this if this really happened. i need angst in my blood. I don’t know why. All I know is that mater would *not* just be sad and call it a day. if someone tried to put their hands on his best friend he would beat their ass. (again proven in cars 2, but that.. we don’t speak of that movie.)

Xisuma, Evil X, and how tf that works
I mentioned in my Hermitcraft Headcannons post that Evil X is Xisuma shadow, but Xisuma doesn’t have a shadow... how does that work? Simple answer: Evil X used to be X’s shadow, but through a series of events they were seperated and now Ex is his own being.
Long answer:
We’re going to have to cover a few thingshere. First and foremost, Xisuma is a voidwalker. Here’s what that means in my cannon:
Voidwalkers are beings made entirely of void. Typically voidwalkers do not gain sentiance, instead spending their lives floating aimlessly in the void, mindless attacking anyone who delves too low.
It’s not unheard of for a voidwalker to gain sentiance and enter to overworld, though it’s uncommon and when they do it’s not usually a good thing for them. Due to their nature of being back out of void, they consume all light that touches them. This causes any world they enter to be plagued with darkness.
So how does this relate to Ex existing?
Xisuma wears his suit both to breath more easily and to minimize the effects of his void being blocking out the sun. Key word; Minimize. The suit does not completely stop his body from consuming the light.
When X joined hermitcraft he wanted to remedy this, so he found a way to seperate his shadow from his body. His shadow would still take on its usual form, but he could hide it so the light he consumed would reflect a shadow in the void instead of the overworld.
What he didn’t expect was for his shadow to also gain sentiance. It didn’t happen immediately, but one day Ex just showed up and he was pissed. He wanted to destroy the home X had created in order to punish him for abandoning his shadow, and thus was deemed Evil X.
So basically, Ex is his own person. He’s not inherantly evil, however he manages his anger poorly and has ended up focusing on lashing out on X in order to punish him for sending him to the void.
When Ex is in the overworld the sky dims slightly due to him being the shadow of a voidwalker.
If you have questions please feel free to ask ^^
