Werewolf Strains

IV. Long-Eared

Long-eared werewolves are a common strain of lycanthropy in the New World, particularly in tropical regions. As the name suggests, werewolves of this lineage have abnormally long ears, with some individuals having ears that even trail along the ground. While distinctive, these oversized ears can be a hindrance to the lycanthrope, and it is not uncommon to find long-eared werewolves with injuries or even amputated ears.

V. Rougarou

The rougarous are, without a doubt, one of the most unique strains of lycanthropes, primarily due to their blood-feeding diet. Unlike other lycanthropes, they do not undergo a full transformation; as long as they maintain a steady diet of human blood, they can retain a humanoid form and conceal their lupine nature. However, if they go without feeding for an extended period, the transformation gradually progresses, causing them to lose control over their human faculties and become slender, hairless werewolves. Interestingly, this process is reversible if they resume consuming blood, which leads many rugarus to live hidden among society, much like vampires. This similarity fuels the belief that rougarous might be the result of an improbable union between vampires and werewolves, though this theory is heavily contested, as vampires are strictly infertile.

VI. Vironsusi

Vironsudet are a strain of werewolves predominantly found in the vast wildernesses of Scandia. Unlike other lycanthropic strains, vironsudet exhibit a notably more peaceful behavior and avoid human contact whenever possible. This aversion to human presence has given rise to several theories, one of the most popular being that vironsudet possess near-human intelligence or even the ability to retain memories from their previous life. However, these speculations lack evidence and remain within the realm of folklore. Along with their gentler temperament, another characteristic trait of the vironsudet is the presence of a tail, an anatomical feature rare among lycanthropes.

VII. Vukodlak

Vukodlaks, often simply called werewolves or, in some regions, loups-garous, represent the most common and possibly the oldest strain of lycanthropes. Due to their prevalence and classic characteristics, many consider them the "typical" species of werewolves, serving as a reference for describing other variations of the curse. Already represented:

Os lobisomens orelhudos são uma estirpe de licantropia bastante comum no Novo Mundo, especialmente em regiões tropicais. Os rugarus são, sem dúvida, uma das estirpes mais singulares de licantropos, isso graças à sua dieta hematófaga. Diferentemente dos outros licantropos, eles não sofrem uma transformação integral, pois enquanto mantiverem uma dieta constante de sangue humano conseguem preservar sua forma humanoide e ocultar sua natureza lupina. No entanto, se deixarem de se alimentar por um período prolongado, a transformação avança gradualmente, fazendo com que percam o controle sobre suas capacidades humanas e se tornem lobisomens esbeltos e glabros. Curiosamente, esse processo é reversível caso voltem a ingerir sangue, o que leva muitos rugarus a viverem escondidos em meio à sociedade, de forma similar aos vampiros. Essa semelhança alimenta a crença de que os rugarus seriam o resultado de uma improvável união entre vampiros e lobisomens, embora tal teoria seja bastante contestada, já que os vampiros são estritamente inférteis.

VI. Vorsulo

Os vorsulos são uma estirpe de lobisomens majoritariamente encontrados nos vastos ermos da Escândia. Diferentes das outras estirpes de licantropos, os vorsulos possuem um comportamento notavelmente mais pacífico e evitam, sempre que possível, o contato com seres humanos. Essa aversão à presença humana levou ao surgimento de diversas teorias, sendo uma das mais populares a ideia de que os vorsulos possuem uma inteligência próxima à humana ou até mesmo a capacidade de reter memórias de sua vida anterior. Contudo, essas especulações carecem de evidências e permanecem no campo do folclore. Além do temperamento mais dócil, outro sinal característico dos vorsulos é a presença de uma cauda, um traço anatômico raro entre os licantropos.

VII. Vucolaco

Os vucolacos, frequentemente chamados simplesmente de lobisomens ou, em algumas regiões, loup-garou, representam a estirpe mais comum e, possivelmente, a mais antiga dos licantropos. Por sua prevalência e características clássicas, muitos os consideram a "espécie-tipo" dos lobisomens, servindo como referência para descrever outras variações da maldição. Potty Trainin’ Blissa had a mechanism where it could drink liquid and when squeezed would pee the liquid into her litter box - or, presumably, wherever the child felt like making the cat pee.

The pooping dog was Tanner. There were a couple of iterations of Tanner but memorably, he got recalled because the magnetic food-poop was a swallowing hazard.

Not because the pieces were themselves big enough to choke on, but because when you swallow multiple magnets they can stick together in your digestive system. And having magnet “foo is just tempting fate.

Personally, I was always unsettled by any of the “feed them and then they excrete” dolls or toys. So, you feed them, and then they poop out the same item, and then you feed it to them again?! But obviously some people liked them.

So June 4th is Hug Your Cat Day. It's an extremely important day of the year. I mentioned before that I just got a cat and talked about some Barbie cats. It is crucial for this post to note that my cat actually doesn't like being picked up or hugged and only agrees to it begrudgingly. This does not stop her sitting on my chest and hitting me in the face with her paws until I pay attention to her at 6am.

In addition to the cats I spoke about in the previous post, Barbie has a great many more unsung cats. For example, a recurring cat is Blissa, the cat featured in Dreamhouse Adventures.

In design, she looks very similar to Fluff. They have the same basic design and pink collar. Given that Fluff debuted in 1982 and Blissa much more recently, there could be a reason for this, but that isn't exactly heartwarming.

Blissa has appeared in doll form as well, such as in Potty Trainin' Blissa.

For those times when you want Barbie to have to scoop the litter tray just like you.

Barbie Posh Pets Kitten Style provides another potential explanation for why Fluff and Blissa look so similar while clearly being different cats, featuring another white cat (unnamed this time, or referred to simply as Mama) and 3 kittens.

The official Mattel description here describes the mechanism of birth as "The mommy cat has a secret tummy that opens to reveal the three adorable babies". This is glossed over pretty quick though as the bulk of the design is around pampering and prettifying the cats.

I do actually think there is something really really interesting about (thoughtful) fanfiction and the particular itch it scratches both emotionally and narratively that seems like it may be getting discounted as the pendulum of online opinion swings away from it as a form but I almost don't know how to describe it without sounding like an Apologist which I very much am not

Peeta calls everyone older than him Mr. and Mrs.(or Ms.). Always. And he always says sir or ma’am after. Usually it’s Mr. or Mrs. Lastname, but he’ll hit a lot of people with the Mr. or Mrs. First name too.

Haymitch and Effie had to beg him to stop the first morning on the train. (Haymitch had never in his life been Mr. Abernathy((not unless he was in serious trouble)), and certainly not Mr. Haymitch and he sure as shit wasn’t gonna be now.)

Greasy Sae tries to get Peeta to stop when he comes home to Twelve after the war, but he doesn’t. He can’t. He calls her Ms. Sae, and that’s it. She eventually gives up and lets him.

Katniss never really understood why you were supposed to do this, and any adult that doesn’t seem to mind too terribly she calls them by their first names. Only the ones that correct her does she use Mr. Or Mrs. for. As she gets older, the list willing to correct the symbol of the Revolution gets smaller and smaller, and by the time she’s old enough to exclusively be called Mrs. Mellark, there’s not a person alive that she doesn’t call by their first name, or better yet, a nickname. When they’re in their 80s, Katniss calls the mayor, a Mrs. Mellissa Holcomb, Missy every single time she sees her. She also gives her a purse candy.
