Baby Transmasc Mike headcanons (because I can)

-His mom always put his hair in braids to make it more manageable. Additional headcanon that he takes after his mom when it comes to hair and her hair (prior to coloring and product) is really curly and hard to tame

-When kids made fun of Will, Mike would take his jacket and fill the pockets with rocks so he could hit them

-He was called a lesbian a lot as a kid because he only hung around boys and was “too rough and mean for a little girl.” They got the gay part right, just in the wrong direction

-Lucas had a lil puppy crush on him when they first met. He would go and find cool rocks outside and give them to him (classic gay/bi experience)

-Dustin is actually the only one to have never had a crush on him (token straight behavior)

-He cut his hair super short with the Party’s help in that bathroom in his basement during one of their first DnD sessions. Didn’t grow it out again until he met Eddie

summary: mike has never been excited about getting his period, but will definitely makes it better.

Letting a groan escape his mouth, Mike squeezes his eyes shut, body curled up tight despite his long limbs. He'd pushed his blanket off hours ago, feeling like he was overheating with anything on top of him. He can tell he's cramping bad this time, and without a doubt, he knows Will is going to ban him from the party meetup today.

He groans again, the realization hitting him. Too bad taking T didn't stop it, he thinks with a hazy mind.

He's still in the same position when his bedroom door opens minutes later, a hand falling on his arm.

"Mike? Baby?"

Mike feels like crying at his boyfriend's voice. "...Get the heating pad, please," Mike answers weakly.

"Period came early?" He can hear Will digging in his closet, looking for the heating pad his mom got specifically for him.

"Yeah," Mike groans, the pain hitting him again. "I really fucking hate this..."

Will hums, and seconds later he's pulling at Mike's arm. "C'mon, we gotta make sure you're not bleeding everywhere and get you some tylenol."

Mike slowly follows, wincing at how his skin pulls. One very good thing about getting your period early: not having the energy or willpower to get a pad. He's definitely not being sarcastic.

Will drops him off at the bathroom, turning the shower on when Mike asks.

"I'll find you some sweatpants and a t-shirt?" Will offers over the sound of running water.

And Mike kind of feels bad about this, about making Will do all of this for him just because his abdomen hurts. "Yeah, sorry about... all of this." He waves his hand like an afterthought, watching as Will's expression shifts in a way that Mike has trouble reading even after all these years.

"Mike," he starts softly, kneeling down in front of Mike. "I don't mind doing all of this for you. I love you."

Mike wrinkles his nose. "I know, but I shouldn't need you to drag me out of bed." He looks down, hands rubbing together, or more caressing, searching for softness. "I'm supposed to be able to take care of myself."

"Well," Will starts, reaching forward to push hair out of Mike's face and gently coax his head back up. "You're in pain and a lot of people wouldn't be able to either. I want to make it easier however I can. If that means I help you take care of yourself, then I'll do it."

Again, Mike feels like crying. "Thank you for being here," he murmurs instead.

"Of course." Will stands up, pressing a kiss to the top of Mike's head. "Now, you need to shower."

Then Will is gone, and Mike is wincing as he peels his clothes off, blanching at the blood. The warm water is soothing, and he can admit he feels better when he's done.

The clothes are on the sink when he gets out. He dries off and throws his underwear and a pad on first, grabbing the dark sweatpants next. Finally, Mike realizes that the shirt is one of Will's, and a smile splits his face.

Will is sat on his bed, a book in hand when he gets to the doorway of his room. He looks up, smiling, and reaches for the bottle beside him, standing to get the water from Mike's nightstand.

"Here." Two pills are set in his palm, and he wastes no time swallowing them, the dull ache already sharpening again.

Mike collapses back on the bed, curling up before Will passes him the warmed-up heating pad to place under his stomach. "Thanks," Mike mutters, as Will slides in behind him.

"No problem," he returns. "I told the others we won't make it today."

Mike hums, waiting for the medication to kick in. "And they're okay without us?" He tries not to sound worried, but he knows Will instantly sees through him.

"They just hope you get better, baby. They know you're in good hands."

Mike can't help the instant blush that covers his cheeks. "Okay." He snuggles back in Will's arms, content to know that his boyfriend is still here.

Mike Wheeler didn't like to talk about his feelings much, but there was one person he was comfortable with talking about them with. That was his boyfriend; Will Byers.

Mike had been feeling really dysphoric lately, and on top of that he had started his period a few days ago. He pretty much hadn't left his room except for to use the bathroom, and that was rare.

Eventually, Mike decided to have Will come over to try and cheer himself up. Will came over as soon as Mike called.

When Will arrived at the Wheeler's house, Mike answered the door and they went into his room.

Will looked at Mike with a sincere, knowing expression, "You doing okay, Mike?"

Mike didn't answer for a minute, and then mumbled, "Not really. I'm not doing too good at all..."

"Why didn't you ask me to come over sooner? I'm always here for you, you know..." Will said softly, putting his hand on Mike's shoulder.

This made Mike smile, "Thanks, Will..."

"It's the least I can do, really..." Will whispered as he pulled Mike into an embrace.

They stayed in the embrace for a few minutes, Will just quietly comforting Mike.

After a while they broke the hug, Will looking into Mike's eyes lovingly when they do.

Will sighed, "Okay, be honest with me, Mike... When was the last time you took a shower?"

Mike stayed silent for a few moments, ashamed to answer, "Five days ago, I think..."

"It's okay... But I do need you to take one, okay? Can you do that?" Will asked Mike in a comforting voice, not wanting to make Mike ashamed.

Mike nodded, not saying anything else after this.

Will smiled, gently taking Mike's hand in his own, "I'm here for you. Okay? I can help with anything you need."

The room went silent, no response from Mike. It was obvious he was embarrassed about all of this.

Will didn't make him say anything and just sat there with him.

"Just so you know, Mike... you're a real boy. I've always seen you as one, Lucas sees you as one, Dustin does... all of us do. And you should ignore anyone who says otherwise..." Will said softly, kissing Mike on the top of his head.

"Thank you..." Mike said in-between sobs, "You don't know how much that meant to me..."

A few minutes later, Mike looked up at Will, his eyes red from crying.

"I'm ready to take a shower..." Mike muttered, seeming almost ashamed to speak.

Will shook his head in acknowledgement and got up to start the shower.

Hesitantly, Mike followed behind Will.

"Do you want to go pick some clothes out to put on after you shower, or do you want me to?" Will asked him sincerely.

Silence fell over the two of them once again as Mike thought about it, then mumbled, "You pick, please..."

"Alright," Will smiled and gave Mike a pat on the shoulder and then went into the other room to find some clothes for Mike.

A few moments later Will came back over to Mike with a pair of boxers, a blue sweatshirt, and a pair of grey sweatpants.

"These good?" Will asked Mike.

"Mm-hmm..." Mike took the clothes from Will's hands, and went in the bathroom.

Will sat outside the bathroom, waiting patiently for Mike to finish showering.

This wasn't an unusual thing for Mike; being dysphoric. If anything, if was unusual when he wasn't dysphoric. But he's always had Will there to help, to cheer him up a bit, or to be there for him at the least. Will really was always there for him.

The shower Mike took was only about ten minutes long, he wanted to get it over with and get dressed as fast as he could. As soon as he got out of the shower he got dressed and left the bathroom, where Will was still waiting for him.

When Will saw Mike he smiled and held Mike's hand, "You look nice, Mike. Really masculine. Do you feel a bit better now that you took a shower?"

Mike nodded, smiling a bit too, "Yeah..."

They went back into Mike's room and sat together on his bed, Will wrapping his arms around Mike.

Will started to rub little circles on Mike's hand with his thumb, gently rocking him back and forth.

"I love you..." Will whispered in Mike's ear.

Mike leaned into Will's embrace, "I love you too..."

Will kissed Mike on the cheek and kept rocking him back and forth. There were no more words spoken, but there didn't need to be for Mike to know he was loved.

Alright, as promised, here are some ✨married Byler/Byler dads headcanons✨

A little preface that this is specifically for my transmasc Mike headcanons, so it’s not necessarily canon compliant, it’s pretty much just MY older byler AU so if it’s not your cup of tea you can just scroll along. Brief mentions of being a seahorse dad and a heads up right now that transphobia will get you an IMMEDIATE block:)

Now that that’s over with!

-Mike and Will get married at some point in the early 90s. Mike doesn’t get his birth certificate changed until some point in the 2000s, so legally he’s considered female, and you better believe they take advantage of it. He’s like at least three or four years on hormones by the time they get married but they’re just like :D yes we’re a straight couple I love my wife :D

-Bonus points if Will wears a dress for the wedding

-They get a dog pretty much as soon as they move in together. Will loves dogs (Mike’s more of a cat person but he adores the way Will’s face lights up when he sees them) and she’s probably a birthday present from Mike to Will. They like to joke that she’s their child, they bring her along to family picnics and events. Joyce and Jonathan are obsessed with her, she reminds them of Chester.

-Mike grows up to be an author! He makes a decent living between selling his books and a gig working at the local library, and Will does some graphic design. He doesn’t particularly like how regimented it is, he prefers doing art for the love of it, and he gets his chance when they’re early to mid 40s because Mike’s books start to get really popular and they can live off that income. Will then pretty much just does the art for the covers and works as a freelance artist. Gloats about being a trophy husband.

-They spend the first decade of their marriage just being the cool uncles for Jancy’s kid, always stopping in for surprise visits because they all moved to a bigger city within a decent distance from each other. Mike likes to buy the kid gifts he knows will piss off his sister, like water guns and play dough that’ll get stuck everywhere. He’ll sneak them candy, pick them up from daycare to take them out for the day. He’s a nuisance.

-Will aids in the schemes, but obviously he’s Jonathan’s baby brother so he’s the good one and Mike is the bad influence😇 And then the kid learns their first curse word from him when he accidentally slips up in front of them and he never hears the end of it.

-He’s really soft and happy with them though, and Mike obviously notices. Mike’s sort of iffy on if he wants any kids but he can tell Will does even if he won’t say anything.

-They adopt their son in like early 2002/2003. His bio mom was really young. They keep in contact with her, send her pictures and updates. His name’s Sam! (Short for Samwise. Because they’re fucking nerds.)

-They end up with two kids. Their daughter’s only six or seven months younger than Sam because hey y’all testosterone is NOT birth control. She pretty much looks like a mini Joyce, her name’s Gwen. (Gwendolyn. Like I said, NERDS.)

-Their kids kind of have a similar dynamic to Will and El because they’re so close in age, they’re always in the same grades, etc. People jokingly call them the twins.

-Nancy takes her revenge by doing pretty much the same thing Mike did with her kid with the twins. She’ll sneak them treats, get them sugared up when they’re at her house then send them home. Sam thinks she’s the coolest person EVER (much to Mike’s horror)

-Gwen’s nonverbal. As a toddler, Sam talked for her pretty much all the time. She never said her first word, was really quiet and reserved, and it worried them obviously. But then they were like, oh wait, let’s try sign language (Mike has times where he’s pretty much totally nonverbal too so they already know a decent amount) and as soon as she figures it out she’s talking to them all the time. She’s super high energy and between her and her brother, they get into a LOT of trouble (Mike’s first gray hair comes in when he’s like 34😭)

-She also has a bit of a sixth sense! It’s mostly to do with the supernatural (which isn’t really an issue since the gates are all closed now… right?) but sometimes she’d react to something right before it happened and it would freak her parents out. Will has it too, but he’s so used to it now that he doesn’t really notice it? And Mike’s just like oh well that’s just how he is it’s not weird. It’s a… lot freakier when it’s a toddler.

-(Bonus!! Jonathan, Nancy, Mike, Will, and the kids all have the last name Hopper. Hop adopted Jonathan and Will and they changed their names to match him and their mom and El because FUCK Lonnie.)

I have lots more thoughts but this is going on really long and just🫠 Yeah. Byler dads.
