TranScreen Festival is now accepting film submissions by, about, with and for the transgender and gender diverse community. TranScreen envisions more positive and authentic representations of transgender people and gender diversity and hopes to encourage dialogue and sharing stories between communities in the Netherlands and across the globe. The next edition of TranScreen will be a mini edition of two days. TranScreen 2020 will take place on May 31st and June 1st in Kriterion in Amsterdam.

We are especially interested in films that touch on one of the following themes. However, we encourage you to submit any film that deals with (trans)gender issues.

Sports - Films that touch on the subject of sports, such as struggles as a transgender, nonbinary or intersex athlete, success stories of sportspeople or portraits of transgender communities involved in sports. Note: sports can be considered in a broad sense and does not have to be confined to Olympic Sports or World Cups.

Youth/Growing Up – Films that deal with transgender and gender diverse youth, such as the stories of transgender/gender diverse children growing up, films that discuss the parent's/family's perspective, films that deal with the representation of young transgender and gender diverse people.

Contributions can be sent in by filling in this form Selection for our 2020 festival starts in January. The final submission deadline is February 1st, 2020. We do not ask for an entry fee. You’ll receive notification whether your work is accepted for the festival as soon as possible.

I was serially dreaming, casting as characters the artists who would eventually become my collaborators on Open TV (beta), a research project and web platform that I created to develop artistic, intersectional TV. With this campaign, I am asking you to support Serial Dreamer: Co-Op, a collaborative comedy pilot for a new series of stories about residents in a Chicago co-op as they dream about other worlds. The full series will follow a different character in each episode through their everyday life and their dreams. Well, all in all our film, "Ignorant Creatures" was a success! As I'm finalizing our budget right now, I'm reflecting on what this film actually meant for us. Our film raised a total of $2395.20 making this film a $269.50 loss. But was it though? This film represents hundreds of thousands of people who are incredible marginalized. It shows the true cruelty ignorance brings, that people like myself and many others face everyday. Ignorant Creatures shows what life is like through that of a non binary person and how something so normal, like that of gender expression, can bring out extreme homophobia from those who have yet to transcend the idea of a gender binary. Jen Iadevaia, our script writer and lead, Catalina Rodriguez, our director of photography, and myself, director and producer, believe in this film to an extent so great that our work will continue on over the next couple years. Ahead of us we have editing, color, sound, marketing, distribution, and festival submission. We are not paid for this film unless it is sold or awarded. We created this film out of passion. We are artists who create for significance, for moral standing, to challenge the status quo. We are artists who strive to be the best in a world that seeks to hold us back. We are artists who will continue our quest to be prolific and create works that change the lives of millions.
