Batfamily fans don’t mischaracterize arrow characters to prop up bats when you’ve very clearly never touched an arrow family comic in your life challenge IMPOSSIBLE EDITION!!!!!!

Like I so desperately don't want to come off as one of those asshole comic fans cause like I so genuinely want people to know these characters and this wonderful story telling device. This industry which has a lot of problems but is so fascinating and has such a rich history, like I really do want more people to get into comics. I literally keep a beginners list of comics that's digestible stories that aren't like a list of random issues which can be kinda intimidating to new fans. I try to keep it updated for characters and if I don"t have the character their looking for I'll go find a few ppl that do and like do a quick vet to see if they seem to know what they're talking abt and give that to them and if anyone is interested in that pls hit me up let me know I genuinely love introducing ppl to this world!!

Its just so frustrating watching your favorite characters get constantly mischaracterized to such an extreme extent by other people in the fandom and then have that be the general consistence of what they're like when its so far from how they act in the actual comics that are about them!! and then get told that I'm wrong even tho i can literally back up what I'm saying with panel proof from multiple runs! Its not even contained to the fandom IT HAPPENS IN BAT BOOKS TOO!! Bat book writers constantly change arrow characters to fit their story lines and make the bats look good and I get it that's how it works these are paper dolls that have been used for over 80 years and have had hundreds of people use them. They're meant to be molded to fit the current story the writer wants to tell but its frustrating cause then people will ignore all of the books that center them and just take batbooks as being word of god for all characters.

the presidents role is to be the face and voice of america and her people, and for every loss of life, for every tragedy, and for all the pain her people must go through, the president must feel it. that is a heavy burden, but it is one our president must carry. our president represents us. there should be a level of class, of respect, and dignity in a president, that our current president does not fulfill

he is a sorry excuse for a leader, a role model, a human being, he is above all, a pathetic man who should not have the privilege of speaking for america and her people.

and even if you agree with his harmful policy’s, how dare you let our voice be so callous about lost lives? about children? it is disgusting. a president should have a level of poise when they speak, strong encouraging words instead of unintelligible insults

and the tiniest bit of hope i had, the smallest shred that this wasn’t all bad, has been ruined and tarnished, because excuse me for thinking that perhaps our leader would respond with even the smallest bit of empathy instead of placing blame everywhere else

(i promise this anecdote below is relevant to this bear with me)

when i was in high school, i was part of a very very good band program. there were a lot of talented people and we managed to take up a huge chunk of the school population. it was guaranteed to have at least two band kids in a class, and this was a AAA school. this is important because our reputation as band kids... was that we were always going to be the best students you had. not because of grades, but because of character. the same went for the many programs that we went to. if we were at a district competition, we were quiet when we had to be, we cheered for other bands, we would lend our equipment, etc etc. i can't think of any instances not only in my time there but before or after where people would groan when they thought about us coming to their event. because there were no incidences that made people think twice about inviting us

how we got that kind of reputation? my band directors built an environment in the band where we wanted to do great. "character, commitment, competence, capacity" were the 4 C's that were put on the wall. this is the best example that I could find, where I think communication and commitment are the same:

every student took up a leadership role even if you weren't handed a title like "drum major" or "section leader". we learned about how to represent ourselves and the people in our community, and we were proud of that. like yeah we might have sounded like a bunch of fucking nerds, but it was a good place to be.

often we heard adults wondering how the hell our band directors managed such a feat. it was such a large band that there should have been at least one group of teenagers that acted out or something. but that was incredibly (and i mean incredibly) rare, and were never so bad that it couldn't be immediately fixed.

it was possible because we had good role models!!

our band directors worked with every teacher on campus, brought us to community events, they had food drives and toy drives, etc etc. they were funny but they knew when to get work done, they created a space where we felt comfortable with them and wanted to make them proud.

i don't see anything like that when i see Trump, nor do i see it in people that voted for him. his Character is not just rude but nasty. his attitude towards the people he's supposed to be representing and caring about was absolutely intolerable. when asked if he cared about the lives of these people (WHO BY THE WAY, DIED MINUTES AWAY FROM WHERE HE IS RESIDING), he was a snarky fucking brat. he was childish and replied with THAT? "You want me to go swimming?"

that was the most WILD, out of line shit i have heard him say in a minute. that was blatant disrespect on the lives of the people that were lost, their families that have to live with the grief for the rest of their lives, and to the American people that were hoping something would be said to comfort and ease our minds.

his statement was read off of a paper that someone else 100000% wrote for him. and then he went out of his way to say that DEI is responsible for it?????? THE DEI??????

you know why he said that shit? because it was his fault! he is directly responsible for air traffic control not having enough people that night. he fired 100 FAA senior officials, there was the hiring freeze that HE demanded, the Aviation Safety committee was disbanded, demanded for existing employees to leave, offered the buy it out. and then that plane went down- the worse air collision in the US in 16 years.

he can't take responsibility. he won't do that, because he would have to admit that it was his fault. that's a pretty trick that narcissists love to do. they come up with excuse after excuse for why something couldn't be their fault, it always has to lie with someone else. and he chose to blame... diversity?

the thing that really gets me about this DEI shit is that most of these people will argue that we need to get rid of it because people should be hired for their merit and not because of the color of their skin or gender. THAT'S WHY THE DEI EXISTS. because if it DIDN'T, only white men would be hired- for the color of their skin, because of their gender, and NOT because of their merit. diversity in our workplaces is how we end up being able to see different perspectives. the US is a melting pot of cultures and that's supposed to be a beautiful thing. the fact that we are still having arguments about it is because there are still people in power who do not want us being unified as a nation. they directly benefit from us believing that "the black man/ the latino man/ the white man" are the enemy. the enemy isn't the person who looks or acts different to you, the enemy are the people who are supposed to be representing us that are only acting out of their best interests.

Trump will never admit that he was wrong about something. It's not in his character. He is not a giving, caring man, who wants the best for the people. He is a lying, cheating, scum of the earth that sits on a "throne" built on the backs of people that do the work for him and who he has divided using hate and envy, then he props his feet up on a footstool made of his ugly pride, and he sticks his big fat thumb in his mouth, taking up all the room for that silver spoon.

He has no commitment to us as the people (even the ones that voted for him) nor to the people also in power that are loyal to him. I believe that in no time at all, he's going to get greedy and they're going to eat him alive, because Trump isn't even smart enough for any of this, there's someone else pulling the strings. He is an incompetent man child with no accountability for his actions, he has failed nearly every business that he touched and only has his money because of what his family had built before him. And he has no capacity for greatness nor does he have critical thinking skills. He props his words up with fluffy decorations and lies right through his teeth, and the people that voted for him are lapping it up like dogs starved. People are about to find out real fucking quick that Trump has been playing it easy and using the benefits of other people's work before him to make himself look good.

And they're not even going to get their eggs.

Creating Fandom Content for Sinners (cause somebody’s got to do it) - Highschool AU

Smoke and Stack: Got in by scholarship (pretended to be one person while writing the exams and exchanged knowledge so they could both get into the same school). The teachers love them because they’re equal amounts of intelligence and trouble. Stack is popular. Smoke is not. This makes it really awkward when fans of Stack run into Smoke and somehow, against all odds, mistake them for each other (usually ends poorly, unless Smoke feels like joking around)

Annie: Also got in by scholarship (except that she actually passed the exams solo). 😂 Every teacher’s favorite and most feared student because she WILL point out when they are wrong and will correct them again and again. Someone once tried bullying her by calling her a nerd and she gave them a dressing down with her words so severe that no one tried it again. She’s always getting into morality debates with Smoke so people can’t tell if they’re enemies or lovers (definitely lovers).

Mary: Also got in through scholarship, white passing scholarship. Stack insists that she stay with the good girls and do good girl things. She will still always sneak out to join them in causing trouble. Of course she gets minimal punishment when she gets caught, so Stack will have her do stuff that’s too dangerous for the boys to get away with it. Annie is her comfort person, she can be 100% herself around Annie without being judged, so she only lets the other girl see her cry. Mostly she tries to act tough in front of the twins to prove that she’s got what it takes to roll with them. Teachers always advise her to stop hanging out with them. That advice goes in one ear and out the other. Her relationship with Stack is undefined and rocky, so some Stack fan girls think she’s a poser. But Stack don’t play about his girl.

Bo and Grace: Now Bo is the twins’ supply guy. Whenever they need to pull off something funny, they come to Bo. Bo always has what they’re looking for. Screwdriver, spanner, balloons, fruit cake, chips, water guns, they don’t know where he gets it, but he always got it (His dad has a supply store). He doesn’t always actively participate in their schemes, but sometimes he does. At some point, he meets Grace and develops a crush that the twins tease him about. Grace is a straight A student, never steps out of line, perfect, collected, strict, way out of his league. What he does not know is that she’s totally got a crush on him too. But she’s playing hard to get. 🥰 She’s not the most social of people so naturally the first person she befriends is Annie (a fellow strong head), so she starts hanging with Annie and Mary and she uses that as a pathway to getting closer to Bo who is falling over his feet but somehow smooth at the same time (Strangely healthiest couple in school, but not too much on PDA).

Sammy: Is 100% in the band. Perhaps in Middle school. He loves tagging after his older cousins wearing his big hat and carrying around his guitar to play music. Most of the group completely adores him and is very protective of him. Still the son of a preacher, no one likes his dad.

Pearline: Miss Pearline is a junior cheerleader. Little Miss Sunshine. She loves Sammy and everyone. She hates Garlic. At home, she’s actually trapped in the role as the perfect obedient daughter so she only gets to sing and dance and be free when she’s hanging with Sammy and the gang.

Slim: Old Janitor (it just makes sense). He’s got the best stories and the twins are cool with him because he lets them get away with stuff. He sometimes makes music with Sammy and encourages the little boy to cherish his music.

Cornbread: This one is a little hard…. I don’t think agriculture is a serious highschool subject in y’all’s parts. But if it was, Cornbread would teach it. Either that or he’s doing gym, that bra can run scarily fast, but he will always complain that running after kids exhausts him.

Remmick: History teacher. I was thinking music teacher, and maybe he can be both. The music club is dwindling to nonexistent and there’s a strict curriculum on what songs they are allowed to play. He absolutely despises it. He is that really weird teacher that the gang is wary of, but he insists that he just wants to make music. He keeps trying to get them to join the music club (so that he can trap them in the club and they can make Irish music together. 💀)

Snow Elf culture?

A wee disclaimer that I'm not particularly good or creative with developing cultures or societies, but my brain has just latched on to the snow elves in a way where I can't stop myself. But anyway

I developed a lot of this because of a big ass draft for a fic I've been writing on and off about Gelebor and Vyrthur, so a lot of my headcanons are religion heavy. I'll start there:

Gelebor seems to place Auri-El and the Chantry of Auri-El as having significant importance to the Snow Elves over the other gods/temples. He's probably got a bit of bias in that regard since he's devoted his life to Auri-El, but in order to differentiate their religion from the other elven ones I like to think that their religion in general worshipped Auri-El as not even just as the figure head of their pantheon, but almost monotheistical, while the other gods (Trinimac, Syrabane, Jephre and Phynaster according to Gelebor) were like minor divine figures or just legendary heroes even more than in Altmer myth, depending on the interpretation. My idea is that if their culture had been allowed to continue on, it would've eventually become monotheistic, but by the arrival of the Nords they were in a bit of an awkward transition period with it.

I also like to lean into the sun motif with Auri-El that they established in Dawnguard and with Auriel's Bow, partially because it's another thing to make their depiction of him more unique, and in part because it makes some very juicy irony for Vyrthur. Some ideas include:

- The more religious folk tend to pray at noon when the sun is at it's highest. - The two biggest snow elf festivals happen on the summer and winter solstices. As far north as they are, the summer solstice is during a time of year where the sun barely sets and the winter one is during a time of year where it barely rises. The summer one is more jovial and celebratory, with a grand feast. With almost 24 hours of daylight, the festivities last up to three days straight, with folks commonly staying awake for over 24 hours. Most of it is spent outside, with the celebration being focused on making the most of the weather and daylight hours to spend as much time in the sun and the light of Auri-El as possible. The winter festival is as large scale but lasts longer and is lower-key. It also involves a feast but features more winter foods and meat and alcohol. It is more pensive. At this point in the year, there is no full daylight, and so this season is seen as a test of one’s faith and mental fortitude. This festival acts as a break from this trying time, taking time to relax, build community (a strong community will allow them to make it through the winter and strengthen their minds), and bond with family and friends. It is about a weeklong break, where leading up to the festival everyone works harder to prepare for it and allow themselves to have the break. There are activities and festivities, but they remain indoors for the most part and are smaller. - I've referenced this before, but with long winters with little sunlight (due to harsh weather and short days), they see that time of year as a reflective test of will and faith.

Due to their proximity to dragons, it was hard to miss the connection between Auri-El (/Akatosh) and dragons, and so their depiction of Auri-El is either much more influenced by the iconography of dragons, or is a dragon (although their depiction of dragon Auri-El is much more benevolent than the Nord/Atmoran one). I got the idea for this one from this Reddit post (i know I dog on Reddit a lot but this one has got some fun stuff in it, even if it's a bit out there)

^On that note, later in the timeline (post Dragon War (the timeline is very fuzzy on when this and the Night of Tear happens. They are both sometime vaguely in the late Merethic Era I believe, but it's unclear which happens first or how long each conflict is)) some Snow Elves see a sort of unreturned, unofficial comradery with dragons, seeing themselves as both on the receiving end of the Nord's/Atmoran's brutality (disregarding whether it was warranted or not in the context of the Dragon War).

Ok here's some more general cultural ones:

I mentioned my reasoning for this in this post, but I like to think their general settlements were not as permanent, with a larger focus on wood and building into the sides of hills (good for warmth), while their temples tended to be made of stone and much more permanent. This is why there are so few identifiable Snow Elf ruins across Skyrim. Their cities and towns were easy to wipe out, scavenged for resources, or were in good places for Nordic cities (perhaps Bromjunaar was originally the site of a Snow Elf city?), and their temples were either very hidden (e.g. the Chantry of Auri-El) or eventually converted to Nordic temples.

I love this journal in general for gleaning ideas for Snow Elf headcanons for, but one interesting this is the use of "Old Ones" and "Young One". They're treated like established titles. From that I like to think they place a lot of emphasis on the respect of those older than you. The social hierarchy and whose opinions are most valued is heavily influenced by age. Folks call anyone older or more revered “Old Ones” as a term of respect, and anyone younger than them “Young Ones”. Old One is almost never used in a demeaning way, but Young One can be (not always). Typically, “Old Ones” is used in the third person (e.g. you wouldn’t refer to someone directly as “old one”) whole “Young One(s)” can be used as an epithet for someone directly or in third person.

When thinking about death/"burial" customs (needed for some scenes in the fic I'm planning), you have to consider that there probably wasn't a lot of land in a place like Skyrim where someone can be buried. Nords intern their dead in crypts or burn them to get around this, and I like to think Snow Elves participated in something akin to sky burials (at least sometimes). After preparation, the departed's body is left outside on a ledge, cliff, or the temple balcony to be scavenged by birds. This is seen as a metaphorical return to Aetherius, while their soul literally returns to it. They do this even in poor weather or deep winter. If it doesn’t thaw and rot/be scavenged until months later, so be it. The length it takes to rot is considered indicative of how long it takes for the spirit to let go and move on (not in a bad way though. It’s interpreted more in the way of the soul or body grieving). It's seen as if they may wish to wait until spring to finally rot if they want to experience one more warm, sunny day.

Food (I mostly wrote this in my notes in the context of the Forgotten Vale and Chantry of Auri-El, but I think it could work elsewhere as well to an extent): Plant-based food is grown in gardens in the spring and summer, and that that is able to be stored is carefully preserved through the fall and winter. Winter foods include some nuts, dried vegetables, and dried and preserved/fermented grains (like wheat, barely). These foods must be eaten slowly throughout the winter to last, and winter diets are more meat based. Summer foods include apples, cabbage/lettuce, leeks, tomatoes etc. Snowberries can be found in the wild out of season of most other fruits, and provide fruit in very early spring. Occasionally, fungus from caves is harvested, but this is seen as a delicacy (foreshadowing).

Currently done with grown-ups renouncing or deciding not to communicate their problems and stumbling points by avoiding the hard parts – especially when it’s replaced by exiting via easy ways out, suiting their styles and energy best.

Holy damn, I get that this modern world teaches us that nobody is entitled to our words and explanations. That we firstly should preserve ourselves, protect our own peace, before looking after another. I agree with it- until the point when it involves a bond both people are clearly invested in, repeatedly have showed up for one another in the past, for better or worse. Wouldn't trip over it if it involved casual friendships. So it crosses a line to me when it gets to the point where you know that your actions (and inactions), absence of communication and willingness to mend by talking are affecting someone else's well-being.

Yes, I get it too that life is hectic as it is - it yanks & tugs at us from all directions and drains our capacity to communicate. So many things require our attention and energy already, so I resonate too when said "communication is easier in theory".

However, it's really not cool to be left hanging mid-air, spend the remainder of your time guessing about whether or not there's any unspoken full disclosure.

It is not ok to pop up out of the blue over something ridiculous and questionable, avoid a knotty problem, then right before a specific date, back out again. To both, how is that fair? How could this ever gratify?

whats something you’ve accomplished recently that makes you feel proud? it can be as big or as small as you need it to be, even just waking up today is an accomplishment to be proud of!!

i’ll start: i’ve recently been able to talk about experiences within my system to people other than my therapist without Gatekeeper shutting it down by triggering a fear response! this is a really big accomplishment for me given two years ago i couldn’t talk about it at all with anyone :)

“taylor swift is putting so much carbon in the air by flying private” musicians who are nowhere near taylor’s level who fly public already get fucking harassed (see: chappell roan*). genuinely think about it: taylor swift at the airport would never in a million years work. the airports would be crowded, delayed, and cause so much unnecessary trouble and stress that y’all would shit on her for going to an airport instead of going on a jet. and what are they gonna do about all her equipment for the tour and all the crew members? some of y’all jump too quick on a reason to hate taylor that you completely forgo critical thinking.
