I've been having a story going on in my mind and it's just progressively evolved over time and this is the culmination of that specifically, so I'll try to explain the context of it here:

Got defeated by golden Cheese Cookie, after she left and he awoke from under the rubble of his castle he went to seek her out, to continue the battle, he wanted to be defeated, to be bested by the only worthy opponent, it was his DESTINY to crumble to her hands, he desired it so much. When he found and re-challenged her, she originally did fight him, but upon seeing how badly he wanted to be destroyed she decided to make him one of her treasures. At first he HATED it and would remind her how he could destroy all of it if he wanted to, but after months of slowly wearing him down he's now her right hand cookie and personal guard, very quick to fight anyone who gets to close to her radiance, he is referred to by the kingdom as "his anarchist".

RE: Nissa’s Retcon

About once a month, I get a comment on one of my posts saying something along these lines

“Uhhh, you left out the part where Nissa was a fascist!”

“Nissa was more interesting as an elf-supremacist, imo.”

To be perfectly frank, I think both of these points are stupid and not worth my time, but just to give these posters the benefit of the doubt, I’ll assume they mean well and respond to them, once and for all, this way:

To address the first point, you’re right: in my posts celebrating Nissa and the journeys she has taken, I do tend to leave out material that was retconned. This isn’t entirely true, however, as I wrote an entire essay about this on my Tumblr page, which I doubt people slipping into my comments to post “gotcha!” have bothered to read. But anyway, to assume the best of these posters, let’s take a brief look at this retcon. Outside of a few brief blurbs in the “Duels of the Planeswalkers” video game and her 2009-era character description on Magic’s website, the “racist Nissa” characterization comes entirely from the In the Teeth of Akoum novel from 2010. And yes! In this book, Nissa is a hilariously stupid racist (frighteningly like real racists, imo). However, many aspects of this book were retconned in Nissa’s Magic Origins reboot. To note, in the 2010 novel, Nissa has no idea what the fuck Akoum even is and lets herself get led there by Sorin and Anowon. In the reboot, we learn that, among many other changes, she went to Akoum previously in her life, as that journey is what led to her sparking. Either way, post-Origins, many aspects of Teeth are questionably accurate at best. It’s quite safe to assume that with how horrified Nissa is when she sees Lorwyn elves hunting goblin children for sport that that particular aspect of Nissa’s personality (white supremacy) is no longer a part of her characterization.

For the second point, this one is just crazy, man. I don’t know y’all come up with this stuff. I don’t even know how to address this politely. Keep in mind that I am not by any stretch saying that Nissa is now a perfect cinnamon roll that never did anything wrong ever. Nissa is at fault for not trusting Sorin and setting the Eldrazi free. This is a decision that forever will, and should, haunt her. In the newer lore, she still distrusts vampires and outsiders in her youth because of how she was raised, and this is wrong of her. But Nissa does not distrust them because she thinks she is somehow morally superior to them by nature of birth. Nissa was raised as a member of the Joraga nation. The Joraga, as even the most basic of searches into the Magic wiki tells us, “eschewed outsiders and held even the other elves of Zendikar in disdain.” Nissa carries this distrust of outsiders with her into her adult life and doesn’t really learn to let go of this until she meets the Gatewatch and learns to expand her horizons. And again, Nissa was wrong for this xenophobia. But don’t get it twisted: there is still a big difference between fear and distrust of outsiders and fascist, ‘hierarchy of races’ bullshit. Both are rooted in fear, but for all her many shortcomings, the retconned Nissa of the new lore would never advocate for elves ruling the multiverse at the top of a racial hierarchy like the older Nissa would (and did). This is hammered home in her Origin story where she is horrified by watching Dwynen lead other Lorwyn elves as they slaughter entire tribes because they think it's funny. Furthermore, on the subject of Lorwyn elves, I would argue that old Nissa is fairly boring as a villain, as “racist elves” as a concept was already explored in depth in the Lorwyn stories. An entire planeswalker with that as her bit would get boring very quickly.

Lastly, and I suppose this is subjective, but isn’t a nuanced character, deeply flawed but trying her best to shed the xenophobia ingrained in her more interesting that an unrepentant, racist dumbass learning that “goblins are people actually!” only after she condemned an entire world to death? The latter might be (darkly) funnier, I’ll give you that, but the former makes for a much more interesting and emotionally satisfying narrative arc.

Some Kotie sketches for practice, sharpening vision and thought 🐈

Nothing raises my artistic self-esteem as much as redrawing old and objectively bad stuff. Back then I believed that I will never learn, that realism and anatomy are beyond my comprehension (I still feel that way sometimes). But I didn't give up...

From 2013 on the left (plus one stylized face from 2014) and new re-drawings of these on the right. In 2013 I barely knew anatomy and my vision of Koties was quite abstract, so I mostly used severely buggy dog-like anatomy for these. I tried to fix this in my new sketches, at the same time trying to re-create the whole vision and features of the depicted characters.

I also really enjoyed drawing long fur and tufts on their ears, and so this become part of their lore, that all the Kotie ancestors had such tufts on their ears.

From 2015 and new re-drawings of these. In the first picture, two old ones in the top right and top left corners are from January 2015 and were probably one of my first attempts to learn to draw more realistically.

It was really bad and I struggled with everything, from basic anatomy and proportions to my perception of shape in general. I tried, however, to move away from just a dog or a weird stylized thing and give the Koties more of their own anatomy. I mostly saw them as thin, long-legged, yet having quite large paws, and so I tried to show this.

Sketches of Koties, depicting their heads and comparing them with my main source of inspiration, the Oriental Shorthair cat, which is represented both as photos and my redrawings of those. I used three Kotie characters as an example - Key, Atram and Liandra, plus a random Kotie with features more similar to the cat photos. My idea was to make the reference (Oriental cat) recognizable in Kotie's realistic features, but also to show their differences, as Koties are still a fantasy species and they aren't just a copy of an Oriental cat.

My perception usually reads their faces as "longer, more specifically angular, and having something vaguely human-like about them". They also have fairly narrow and flat whisker pads, so some Koties (such as Key) have faces that are extraordinary long and narrow, nearly unrealistic for a feline.

As a bonus - Kotie and Vaeraf lowpoly models from 2013. These were some of the very first 3D models I ever made and I am very happy to find them as actual model files. I still love them and I once made a remake of them ~

Gravity Falls LIVES!

So, just like so many other fans, with the release of the Book of Bill and everything, I've been re-watching the show alot and I've decided to add to the ever growing piles of Gravity Falls Fandom greatness/fun! So here are some of a Head cannons with the Falling Stars AU. *Just a note, I was not in the fandom when it was first coming out, and recently only got to find out about some of the cool AUs out there so that is part of what has caused this lol* For those like me who are learning about some of the cool AUs- Falling Stars is an AU of what if Mabel had been pulled into the portal in EP "Not what He Seems".

Also a note, I have not read book of Bill, the third journal or the comic that was published as I just have not had the chance so alot of this information/stuff I know referencing them, I will admit I got from Tik Tok so bare with me! Head Cannons that I might do one-shots on later:

-Dipper makes his parents give Stan full custody of him and Mabel with child support. The nightmare he has about his parents arguing is regarding how neither of them want either of the twins after their divorce as they find them creep/freaky and would not 'mesh' with their new families. (He could never tell Mabel of what he heard-She knew though)

-Mabel mistook Ford for Stan at first when he saved her from a black hole that was the cause of her being sucked into the portal. She spent hours clinging to him and just sob babbling. (This is also how Ford learned who she was and what likely happened)

-Mabel went into shock for four weeks after realizing what happened and that there isn't a quick/easy way to get home. (She learns to cope by being her 'normal' bubbly weird self.)

-Stan's panic, fear, and freak out in trying to get Mabel back in those early days is what allowed Dipper to not blame him for what happened and actually sit down and hear him out about why he was building the portal. (This would be basically the EP of Tale of Two Stans)

-Dipper has been allowed into Stan's mind/memories with his permission. This started with Stan wanting to regain Dipper's trust and then grew into their search for clues on repairing the portal that Dipper might be able to figure out that Stan couldn't.

-Dipper and Stan spend years trying to get the portal working again, even though Stan forces him to socialize and not stop living his life/existing.

-After Mabel and Ford finally get back, they are able to explain the reason that the portal couldn't just be turned back on due to how dangerous it was. (Back to back uses could rip reality apart fully if not the very planet itself.)

-Mabel acts like her old silly self as not only a coping method but as a way to hold to who she once was, but she can flip on a dime into a serious warrior survival type mode.

-Pacifica and Dipper started dating in high school. Since the weirdness continues in Gravity Falls (and outside it) they grow closer during one of these situations. -Dipper found out that Pacifica is actually really smart, she even ends up joining him and Stan on working on the portal. -She honestly does love Dipper.

-Wendy and Stan ended up 'forcefully' teaching Dipper how to be 'athletic' in their own ways. -Stan got him into boxing and gifted him his own brass knuckles -Wendy got him into parkour and rock climbing. - Pacifica got him into light gymnastics; but he won't talk to anyone else about it.

-Dipper blames himself for Mabel being pulled into the portal and believes that if he had just trusted Stan none of it would have happened.

-Mabel blames herself for getting pulled in, believing that if she hadn't let go of the button she wouldn't have been so easily pulled in and is worried about what has happened to Stan and Dipper.

-Stan taught Dipper how to pick locks as a hobby and 'male bonding' -Pacifica picked it up and is better at it then both of them.

-Dipper took up photography and found that he has the talent and skill to be professional. He started this so that he could continue Mabel's scrapbooks. -Pacifica, Greta and Candy now do a weekly scrapbook day after finding Dipper spiraling at 14 trying to balance his time doing everything.

-Ford made Mabel a digital journal/camera that she can wear as either a watch or a pendant so that she can record/photograph their journey to show Dipper when they get home. -Ford lost hope finding a way home long ago, but he doesn't want her to become like him.

-Greta has become a very popular travel influence/blogger thanks to her royal boyfriend. They are in love and very loyal to each other. -She likes to collect things from her travels to give to Mabel when she returns.

-Candy is on her way to become an internationally acclaimed robotics and prosthetics engineer. -She helps ensure Dipper's protective gear actually works.

-Pacifica has become independently wealthy away from her family due to her skills in finances and stocks. She also handle's Dipper's investments and patents as well as McGucket's. -She basically runs the fiances for the Shack, Stan and Dipper as she claims they are money morons- they are of course. -She has made sure the shack has been kept up and all the work is properly funded for the portal repairs.

-Dipper moved into Ford's old room after a year and a half as he couldn't handle seeing Mabel's things, but couldn't bring himself to move or touch them either.

-Waddles is/has been taken care of by everyone as every single person can't imagine how sad Mabel would be if she returned and he was gone.

-Mabel is known across the multiverse as the greatest matchmaker in any reality. She has made a solid name for herself and brings in 'funds' for her and Ford's travels. -She is even sought out by multiverse royalty for her skills in finding compatible matches that are known to be long lasting.

-Ford calls Mabel Kirk as she left a trail of broken hearts through their travels by no fault of her own as someone 'always' fell head over heels for her; even if she was clueless about it. -Mabel doesn't get the reference.

-After Mabel returns, she has kept in contact with some of the friends she made in traveling with a crystal flower that she keeps safe. When she first got back it looks like she was just talking to herself freaking out Dipper and Stan, but they eased when Ford explained what was going on during a particular heated conversation she was having with someone's who's language is to shout aggressively.

-Dipper grew his hair out because it reminds him of Mabel; he normally wears it tied back or braided when he is working.

-Mabel cut her hair short because it reminds her of Dipper; Ford isn't the best barber so Mabel learned how to do both their hair for him.

-Mabel takes out at least three of Bill's friends during Weirdmageddon herself. Stan is both horrified and deeply impressed.

like it went: MC got to live past Scapegoated's plot and be in one more movie after to completion, and then just kinda.. blipped. and then came back into the world, as if nothing had happened, MC is still in their early 20s, but she looks up and she's now in 2024. she was a missing person's case, a True Crime podcast's favorite subject, they already threw her a funeral, the rights to her music and image and royalties and house and all their possessions have been divided up, her bank account is well defunct by now, her friends that'd been her 20-something age back in the 70s are now all in THEIR 70s as a whole 50-something hears have past or otherwise are fucking dead

and the dream, for whatever reason, focused on her being interviewed by Stephen Colbert. who, apparently, i remember vividly said in my dream "You were always my answer to the question 'if you could have dinner with someone, living or dead'."

and also the US Government was trying to get involved in an E.T. movie way, so the MC was on the tv to announce that they were moving to France and if anything happened to them before then or on the way or someone tried to frame shit as a suicide: it wasnt an accident. something like that

Hobby headcanons

Not particularly hobbies they definitely have but one's I can see them enjoying

Nirei - I said it before but he's crafty. He'd like to make things for his friends and seems like he'd originally learned this stuff from either his grandparents or an elderly neighbor he was fond of. Sakura's Furin jacket button pops off? Give it to Nirei, he's re-stitched it on in minutes and it's stronger than before. One of Kotoha's new earrings broke a loop? He's got a set of jewelry pliers at home somewhere he can dig out for that. It calms him when he's at his most frazzled to work his hands on something for a bit so he has like 15 WIPs at once going on that he cycles through.

Sakura - Hiking! Not like the walking on a path hiking, but the full-body, climbing over and onto rocks, hiking up a mountain or across rivers hiking. It's physical, but not something he has to worry about learning, and it's not an activity he has to converse with someone during. The first time he makes it to the top of a mountain and just...sits and takes it in? A breath of fresh air doesn't begin to cover it. Takes blurry pictures of the animals he sees and sends it to his groupchat later with no explanation, leaving the rest of his friends baffled because he didn't even tell anyone he went hiking.

Kiryu - hummm I'm tied between nail care, and making cute crafts somewhat similar to Nirei. Like those cute marbley drink tumblers or those phone cases that look like a decorated cake that will absolutely not fit in a pocket but why would you wanna hide it anyways its cute af. He definitely knows how to give a good manicure and takes great care of his hands in general. I imagine whatever girl's nails he's working on, she's flustered unless she's got nerves of steel because the gentle, but firm way he works on each nail? The little hand massage he does to rub in the cuticle oil ( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ ) how relaxing too.

Choji - Legos or origami or both! He'd leave little origami animals everywhere. Total cutie giving them to little kids he sees on the streets or at festivals. Really quick with it both in the time it takes to learn them and the time it takes to fold them. Also does one of those star jars that have an activity or something nice/motivational written on it.  His gang will make some to sneak into the jar, though you can tell right away from the unpracticed folding that Choji didn't make it. That just makes him happier though and he'll try and guess who wrote what. Loves to do legos on rainy days or when he's stuck inside when he gets a cold. Otherwise, he tends to do a bunch all at once and then leaves it unfinished for like 3 months.

I love your thoughts and I absolutely agree that Cassandra is incapable of focusing on anything for too long. Her record is approx. 10 secs, which is exactly how long it takes her to string someone up, slice their jugular and watch them bleed, lmao.

However, I´d like to think that Momma Alci makes sure to keep her unruly offspring entertained, mainly because it keeps them from bugging her. Momma values her me time. 🛁😌

Again, she does it mostly to impress Momma, seeing how the Lady is quite the talented pianist herself.

🥽 Tzuyu wakes up super early every single day, having a regular sleep schedule (sleep and wake up at the same time everyday) can help us be less stressed and it's super helpful when you want to build multiple routines! you can set an alarm at night time if you struggle going to sleep because you're always mindlessly scrolling!

Now, it's time to get ready, wash both your hands and face and just apply moisturizer and sunscreen, wearing to much skincare products before applying base makeup products may make them look super patchy, if you want to do a really long 10-step skincare routine you have to do it the night before!

🦡 the key for Tzuyu´s makeup is to have a clean base makeup and changing the color of her lips, see, she's so gorgeous that she doesn't need much to look super cute, the main steps of her makeup is to use concealer and bb cream to unify her skin tone and the use a light lipstick as base and then add a more colorful tint, she does this to make bright pink shades work for her dark lips. Other makeup steps are completely optional and up to your needs!

Tzuyu was the kind of student to always doze off and sleep in class, even though this isn't necessarily good, getting rest it's still an important thing to do! So when you get from school you can take a nap instead of studying right away. Once you wake up you can do a little review on what you learn today and emphasize on things you didn't understand in class.

🪨 Also, buying super cute school supplies can help you be at least more motivated to study or to pay attention in class!

✸ ꒰ workout routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆ 

There are videos of Tzuyu using a vibrating platform as a ´workout´ however it isn't clear if these devices actually work or not. 

🥄 What you can do whatsoever is to start warming up before doing cardio or a dancing session, then you can do other kind of workouts to slim and tone up areas like your arms, abs, waist and legs

Finally you can do some stretching for your back and upper body to get a perfect posture and a defined collarbone like her.  

⚽️ Additionally, Tzuyu’s favorite subject at school was P.E! So you can start practicing some other kind of sport like volleyball!

Instead of showering we are going to take a bath with warm water. Bathing, especially in the evening, can help you relax after a long day. Also, it's much better for your face to not be in direct contact with hot water and just get your pores open lightly with the steam. After bath you can wash your face and put on a sheet mask! tzuyu even puts on a silimask, this is a silicone mask that will help you keep the sheet in place while doing other stuff and make the serum of the mask absorb better!

🗻 Her night routine is not clear however you can stretch again like other twice members do or just sit in your bed and scroll through social media, just make sure to have a perfect posture while doing it, having a good posture is basically a habit, so try  practicing having one as often as you can!

A Discussion of Soulmagic

Verloren presented his research notes to his latest visitor as he described the process of pulling magic directly from a creature's soul instead of just the physical body, a concept that none had attempted before him. He had been explaining the exact same thing to several different people lately and more often than not he was met with disdain and skepticism. He was so tired of all these mages who seemingly couldn't embrace new ideas telling him that this was too complicated and irregular to be worth it. But he did not mind what they thought about his work and continued to discuss it with others when he had the chance, trying to find more folks who could have interesting ideas for his consideration. Verloren had heard about Hyden's impressive magic skills, and how he was particularly interested in darker magics. Would he be able to see the true potential of soulmagic?

Long stupid excessive ramblings below :'D

I was working on this for a long time. Kinda had it planned for a few years actually, before I even redesigned Verloren and got obsessed with him! They're both evil mages who caused chaotic historical events and then eventually faced The Consequences and lost their powers, so I felt like there was a lot of room for crossovers hehe. I started actually working on this in December and totally thought I'd finish in January but... oh well I guess that didn't happen xD

Unfortunately, all this time spent working on this pic has allowed me to come up with a fuckton of headcanon about it, and I could not rest without spilling all of it in an obnoxiously long wall of text.

So, if I were to steal Hyden and adapt him into my setting, I think he would be a Grand Augur of Necromagic from a kingdom neighbor to Houndsdagger. Augur is a word I stole because it looks cool, but in my setting it basically means a mage that works for the kingdom and does magic research. A Grand Augur is a higher rank than an augur, typically has earned the title through their experience, but also usually they're nobles or important people. They get a seat at the royal council of magic and stuff. So yeah I think that would fit him kinda. And necromagic because it allows for some of the most powerful crafts... and because it's typically the most potentially evil of the magics lol

This probably would take place when Verloren's work with soulmagic was starting to attract private clients looking for dark powerful magics, so Hyden might have heard the rumors about a mage in Houndsdagger who could make magic from souls (of animals but also of people obviously). At first, he might have thought it was nonsense like witchcraft (non-standard magic that a lot of people consider superstition) but maybe he might have grown a bit interested once he learned that this was apparently some extremely powerful form of magic. So on the next opportunity he had to visit Houndsdagger, Hyden decided to check it out and meet this Augur Verloren.

I think this interaction could go well, but it could also go really bad.

Verloren is known for being difficult to work with and straight up hostile at times. He's very quick to judge and will not work with you if he decides that he dislikes you for any reason, so the way that Hyden approaches him would matter a lot. Some things about Verloren that I think would influence Hyden's opinions of him:

- Verloren is just an augur, and augurs typically serve under Grand Augurs, so Hyden is technically above him, although he doesn't exactly have any authority over him since he's from a different kingdom. - Verloren is also not noble or anything like that, AND he's from Vykrest. The Vykrest are a bit more animal-like in some of their ways (like growling, biting, running on all fours at times), which makes people from outside think they're somewhat uncivilized or primitive. Doesn't help their image that they're typically wary of outsiders, with some of their cities restricted to their kind alone. - Verloren also usually appears kinda arrogant, like in a "I don't have time for you" sorta way, which pisses off a lot of people who think that he should bow down to them.

But I think if Hyden is interested in what he has to offer, he would be wise enough to treat him well no matter what he actually thinks of him. And unless the other person is being actually rude to him, Verloren enjoys talking about his work and showing what he's capable of even if he doesn't like them. (It's the part of working with/for someone he hates that he won't do.)

Verloren's work is very complex and his notes and diagrams might seem to make no sense, so Hyden might be skeptical at first, but he'd probably change his mind after some demonstrations of soulmagic's power. I think he would be especially interested when Verloren gets to the part about the Triangle Workyn of Ravenbone, a craft that could permanently increase one's magic ability.

So at this point, if the conversation was going well, they might try to make a deal. Verloren offered his soulmagic services for a cost, but he was very picky about what that cost would be. He was not interested in wealth and instead he would ask his potential client what they could offer that would be really worth his time. Hyden probably would have some interesting magic knowledge to share... or maybe he would offer Ambroys' blood. I have some thoughts about what this would mean in my setting but I guess I can spare you of those ramblings and leave for some other time since it's not directly related to this pic anyway.

Aside from that payment, there would be the materials required for the craft, and for the Triangle Workyn of Ravenbone that included three victims, with their souls bound to their skulls (the process that allows you to use a soul in magic), who should be made to kill each other in order. Verloren would provide the soul-bind spells but Hyden would have to find victims and handle the killings on his own (which I think he'd be pretty capable of doing.) So once Hyden had all the required materials, they'd meet again to do the Triangle Workyn of Ravenbone on him. If everything went right, congratulations! Hyden can now output a lot more magic at once, making all of his spells stronger. Also, his bones are black now (that's what the Ravenbone in the name is about), and possibly a bit stronger too.

Overall, I think they would get along ok, but not exactly amazingly. More of a "I guess I can deal with this guy" sort of thing despite obviously having some shared interests. They'd probably have pretty good conversations about magic, but that alone.

But what if their conversation actually didn't go so nice? If Verloren refused to work with Hyden, how would he react? How would he feel about this random lowly wild-dog of a person having some unbelievably powerful magic rivaling his own and not being able to get it for himself? During Verloren's time as an augur, he gathered several enemies who'd plot his demise and attempt to have him killed and steal his work, and I think maybe Hyden might have been one of those. Eventually, some of his most influential enemies end up convincing the king of Houndsdagger to have Verloren exiled, and maybe Hyden could have been involved. It turned out to be a terrible idea however.

Ahhhh there would be more, but I think it might already be enough and maybe I should shut up...

HYPERSOMNIA JANUARY DEV LOG : "LOG 1, WOOHOO!"

Hi! For all of you who follow HYPERSOMNIA, or are just stopping by, let me introduce you to this post to really set the tone.

For 2024, I am going to try to release a dev log about HYPERSOMNIA once a month, may come earlier, may come a little late, but I'm doing this to help give insight on to how the game is going, and to give me motivation to work on the game.

First things first, big news!

HYPERSOMNIA IS NOW AVAILABLE TO WISHLIST ON STEAM! (LINK)

After a while of back and forwarding with Valve, I've finally got a Steam page to call my own, and MAN is it bizarre seeing my weird little RPG in my Steam library. Like, that's my logo, and my key art, and screenshots of MY game, that's so weird. It doesn't feel real. BUT IT IS!

And, I would really really really really really appreciate it if you would consider wishlisting the game on Steam. It helps with the algorithm, and my happiness because I like seeing numbers go up, it feels good.

I even drew this as a announcement/commemoration for the page going live.

(P.S; if you couldn't tell, I really like Half-Life, it's one of my favorite game series.)

Secondly...

A new trailer is in the works! We were accepted for this year's MOTHER Direct (4th time baby, whoo!)

The trailer has been coming along well, I hope to show more battle oriented clips that I've missed the last few years, like special moves.

Can you believe I've never actually gotten to adding those in the game? I mean, they come set-up in default RPG Maker projects but I've never gotten around to revamping them until now, year 4 of engine work. Isn't that strange?

I also hope to improve on editing in the trailers. Whenever I finish a trailer I come back a few months later to notice minor points where I was kinda sloppy.

I'm not much of a video editor, (I only learned so I could edit trailers on my own) but I'd like to keep them at a good presentable quality. You gotta have standards with that kinda stuff, it's important!

OK, TIME FOR THE ACTUAL GAME STUFF. HERE WE GO.

Abilities are now implemented! And work! Wahoo!

In HYPERSOMNIA, players are able to switch abilities between party members. I find this a really interesting mechanic for how simple it seems, you get to choose who plays what role in your party. I think this is HUGE, and opens up a lot of unique scenarios for the game's encounters. I've had this planned for years, as far back as 2021 if I can recall, so it's super cool seeing it in game.

Mapping is being worked on!

I've also been working on mapping out more areas of the game! The forest part you hopefully saw in the last trailer is almost completely mapped. I've been working on the second part to it and am hoping to finish it sometime soon.

Mapping forests really suck. THOUGH, almost all the maps for the first chapter of the game are done! That's just another step closer to the demo. (Which, FYI, will be on Steam and Itch! ^^)

I've also been working on re-spriting older scenes!

This one's been really fun to do, I've been going back and redoing older stuff from the 2022 trailer, like this train! It's weird seeing it side by side, because you can definitely see where it's come from but at the same time, it looks so different.

(Also side note, these sprites are CRUSTY! EWWW!)

Lastly, Script and Music updates!

The script for HYPERSOMNIA's first act has been completed! with just 37 pages of just cutscene dialog alone! We're also currently working on wrapping up NPC dialog! Not much else to say.

And music is being worked on!

Music has been making some progress! I like to lay out demo's for areas I'm mapping out to help make both the music and scene come together. (Also, to help break up the eerie silence when playtesting...)

Speaking of music, FIREBALL, the games main battle theme, was recently delisted on our YouTube channel.

We did this because we decided we wanted to resample FIREBALL, and found that it's best to not have the song uploaded until a complete, final version is made. At least for the demo, it could possibly change before the final game but that's a bit too far in the future for me to think about fully.

re-reading mother of learning and hearing this bit in chapter 1 made me go a little insane...

Though his family thought he simply liked to sleep in, Zorian actually had a reason for being a late riser. It meant he could eat his food in peace, as everyone else had already had their breakfast by then. Few things annoyed him more than someone trying to strike up a conversation while he was eating, and that was precisely the time when the rest of his family was most talkative.

just. the post canon potential. i cannot stop thinking about the ways and reasons zorian would eat breakfast with people (especially zach cause their dynamic is just pure gold).

1. zorian eating with his classmates at imaya's because they know he needs a bit of space and they can talk to each other, but it's just nice to have him around. and him acting grumpy every time they make him join them, but really he likes it too and everyone knows it.

2. zorian and zach having breakfast together because they know each other so intimately at this point and are so comfortable together, and zach knows what he needs and is willing to just enjoy the quiet with him. ("i don't like people. no he doesn't count as a person. in a good way." kind of energy)

3. zorian and zach again, but where zach has mastered the art of chatting away while not needing or expecting zorian to contribute to the conversation. just talking cause he wants to...

3a. and just going on about inconsequential stuff like his plans for the day, or recent gossip (omg zach getting really excited about new goss because its been decades since he's really had any), or just train of thought, or whatever else. because its just nice to chat, especially to zorian. and zorian low key finding it really soothing and loving the sound of zach's voice.

or 3b. but also saying a bunch of statements and ideas and questions that he KNOWS zorian will have opinions about, as part of his "casual" chatter, just to see if he can actually get him to respond. and zorian just completely calmly eating his breakfast and then when he finishes eating immediatelu launching into his own monologue which is like double the length of zach's with all his thoughts, because he has perfect memory and doesn't need to respond at once, and zach getting confused cause he doesn't even remember what he said in the first place.

(i feel like the dynamics of both parts of 3 could also work really well and be very cute in different ways if adjusted for kirielle.)

4. i haven't put as much thought into this one, but zorian visiting the taramatula and actually deigning to respond to orissa, because he finds her legitimately really interesting, and everyone else being so pissed off (in the friends way) when they find out.

5. zorian not changing the behaviour. he still likes to eat alone. but the people around him actually consistently respect that and give him space, and when other people chatting at breakfast come across something they wanna talk to him about or think he'd find funny or whatever they make the effort to remember it or write it down so they can tell him later. because they care about him. and this is how he opperates. so they build habits around it.

The mystery-solving, phantom-thieving ordeal of both Mystery Inc. and the Phantom Thieves has just begun in my recent crossover, Scooby-Doo! and the Phantom Thieves (Alt. Title: Scooby-Doo! Meets Persona 5)

Synopsis:Two worlds collide as Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, and the gang of Mystery Inc. team up with the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 in an all-new, epic full-length crossover that is a re-interpretation and reimagining of the hit Persona 5 Strikers video game - an alternate version of the same story! Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang - Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy - embark on what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation once they visit modern-day Tokyo, but only to have been interrupted when events of something strange and supernatural occurred during their time of fun and games…literally! They find themselves in an alternate version of Tokyo in the Metaverse called a Jail, where people’s desires are being taken by the ruler’s shadow called Monarchs, complete with cop-resembling monsters called Shadows. As they try to find a way to escape, Scooby and the gang have another mystery on their hands as they are put on high alert - this time, there are no guys in rubber masks.

SIDE: SD (Scooby-Doo): After wrapping up yet another mystery, Velma got an invite from her pen-pal, asking her to come to Shibuya to visit. Once she, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo arrived in modern-day Tokyo, however, they are in for an unexpected and supernatural surprise! Thanks to a recently popular app they installed called EMMA, the Mystery Inc. gang ended up in an entirely, different Tokyo filled with cop-resembling monsters called Shadows. Luckily, two masked teenagers and a cartoonish-like, talking cat came to their aid, calling themselves the Phantom Thieves! 

Once they return to the real world, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby realized that a series of cases involving a "change of heart" are happening all over the country of Japan and their new friends are being under suspicion by the police for the recent cases from last year and their involvement. The Scooby gang will have to help their new Persona-using friends clear their names in their longest, most unexpected mystery yet...

But there’s another team also on the case as the Scooby gang ran into…the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5, consist of normal teenagers Ren Amamiya (Akira Kurusu), Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, Yusuke Kitagawa, Makoto Niijima, Futaba Sakura, Haru Okumura…and their talking black cat, Morgana! Why? Because they had stumbled into this world as well, thanks to a popular app called EMMA, and not only that but their camping trip on summer vacation together has turned into a road trip when they are being the prime suspects of a series of cases involving a change of heart in people that is happening not only Shibuya, but all over the country of Japan, currently investigated by the Tokyo branch of the Public Security Bureau.

SIDE: P5 (Persona 5): Months have passed since Ren Amamiya left Tokyo after his probation ended, and now he and Morgana return to the bustling streets of Shibuya in order to enjoy summer vacation with their old friends and comrades - Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, Yusuke Kitagawa, Makoto Niijima, Futaba Sakura, and Haru Okumura. Unfortunately, despite the celebration, the smiling faces of his former teammates and comrades-in-arms weren't the only things awaiting Ren's arrival. Summoned by Lavenza of the Velvet Room, Ren learned from her that a new, potential danger threatens to consume him and the entire world, which made him become a prisoner of fate once again. This led Ren to a sudden conclusion - the Metaverse that he and the Phantom Thieves had worked so hard to destroy has return in an unexpected way! One day, while shopping for camping stuff, Ren, Ryuji, and Morgana find themselves transported from the real world and into an alternate version of Shibuya in the Metaverse in their Phantom Thief attire, all due to a popular app they installed called EMMA that somehow acted as the new Meta-Nav. There, they fought Shadows that dressed like cops, encountered an A.I. named Sophia, and in an unexpected plot twist, they are joined by Mystery Inc., consisting of Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and their talking dog, Scooby-Doo, who are also on the case when they have accidentally entered the Metaverse through EMMA as well. Once they return to the real world, the Phantom Thieves reassembled again to unravel this new Metaverse called the Jail, only to find themselves being suspected by the police for being involved in a series of Change of Heart incidents all over the country. But what if the Phantom Thieves and the recently joined Sophia...turn to Mystery Inc. for help?

Thinking that this case is similar to their previous adventure from last year** (**See Persona 5) and that someone is framing them by not changing people’s hearts under the same reasons as them, the Phantom Thieves reluctantly turn to Mystery Inc. to help them crack the case - that means Scooby-Doo and Morgana will have to get along. They are joined by Sophia, a sentient A.I. who can detect the presence of Jails; and Zenkichi Hasegawa, a member of Public Security who needs both the Phantom Thieves and Mystery Inc.’s help to catch the true perpetrator. But when the bad guys labeled the Phantom Thieves as terrorists, Scooby-Doo and the gang bravely try to rescue them from getting arrested and Zenkichi's daughter, Akane Hasegawa, will have to play a huge role as she summons her very own Persona and later joins the fray! To make matters worse, they’re suspected of being accomplices to the Phantom Thieves. Will both groups be able to get out of this situation and solve this very long and huge mystery?

Have a little bit of Buck Having a Time™ in the hospital. It's not nearly whumpy enough to meet my "put blorbo in a jar and shake vigorously" sensibilities, but here you go!

Buck had gotten used to hospitals—both from time on the job and personal experience. He was accustomed to their weird sterile smells and rotating menageries of staff: from doctors who showed up once in a blue moon, to nurses who were way too comfortable in his personal space, to doctors and nurses and the occasional lab tech who were somehow relatable because they too were running on two hours’ sleep and fifteen hours’ wakefulness; Buck had seen everything E.R. chaos had to offer. Or at least he thought he had, until Doctor Fitzsimmons returned with somebody else. The sight of yet another lab coat piqued Buck’s interest—what could be going on that they needed to bring a whole new doctor in the mix? To someone else, the sight of two doctors striding in the room with absolutely no preamble might have been cause for concern. For Buck, though, it was different. He was practically a seasoned vet when it came to medical settings and scary experiences. He’d learned long ago—maybe somewhere between the first broken arm and the sixth hour spent waiting for his parents—to replace any fear he felt with curiosity, just for the sake of making it through his visit. So Buck was curious, then, that a new doctor had tagged along. He was curious when Fitzsimmons shared a glance with said doctor and scurried past her like he swallowed something bad and the computer was a trashcan from heaven. He was curious when he began clicking around at various windows and continued to look constipated, all without looking Buck’s way for even a second. Eddie coughed loudly. “You know, I wasn’t expecting company,” Buck said, trying for nonchalance. He shot his most winning grin in Fitzsimmons’ direction. “Lemme guess: you saw I brought my friend and got jealous. No worries, Doc.” Here, he laughed, hoping to come off easygoing as he leaned back on the hospital bed— “I totally understand.”

list of things i find amusing/interesting about normelodie (and hopefully it gives more explanation of their dynamics :3). whenever my brain is evil and tells me My Stuff Sucks, i say "fuck you" and write a whole bunch of things i like about my stuff. list is not comprehensive and i'm trying to not repeat myself. very drabble-y.

Norm thinks Elodie is really tall. She's five inches taller than him, and in the prewar au, she's usually in heels. However, she's only 5'5", so she's like. Average height for a woman. She's technically a little tall for a slavic woman too. But even still, you put her next to his dad or cousin and she's SHORT. Norm doesn't care though. She's tall to him.

nerd x different type of nerd. like, they're both dorks. elodie will talk about plants for HOURS on end (and in the prewar au she loves birds), and norm just listens. she's completely satisfied watching him play holotape games on her lap. she's fallen asleep this way numerous times.

match each other's freak. elodie will be embarrassed about something and norm's like. shh. no. me too.

match each other's NERD too. i love that they can talk about something scientific or jargon-y and learn from each other. norm isn't super knowledgeable about plants, yes, and elodie knows nothing about his games and tech stuff. but they listen and try to understand. elodie likes learning about anything, and norm just finds new things interesting. especially in fields he knows nothing about prior.

side tangent. i think he gets so bored with his jobs because there's nothing more to learn. he likes hearing what elodie does because it's something new to learn!!!

secretly fiercely protective of each other. norm easily gets jealous, placing his arm around her waist and subtly bringing her closer. elodie is more visible in her jealousy, since her expression tends to sour and she'll get snippier. norm can read it easily and likes to tease her about it, while reassuring her she's not going to lose him. in terms of protectiveness, norm tends to get verbal/argumentative with people to defend her, while elodie just gets MAD. if in the wasteland she's killed for him ❤️

very versatile cuddlers. sometimes he likes to hold her, sometimes she likes to hold him.

elodie holding him close and singing to him to help him sleep. elodie talking about her day to help him sleep. norm softly stroking her hair to help her sleep, running a hand down her back and humming a random song. just helping each other go to sleep.

their love languages are reciprocal!!! elodie feels loved when people spend time with her and give her gifts (personalized ones are peak). norm, of course, loves gifting and coming up with unique ideas for dates. norm feels loved with physical touch and spending time with each other. elodie is very physically affectionate (even if she is anxious about it, once it's established it's ok, she goes crazy). perfect, too, that they enjoy spending time with each other.

fans of lounging around and being in each other's company. imagine them sleeping together all the time ok. being truly relaxed around each other despite it all.

balance out each other's energy. elodie is usually very passionate and full of emotion, so norm helps regulate her. it gets overwhelming for her to feel all of it constantly, especially since she's a hyper-empath. norm feels emotions too, yes, but is able to help her offload them. a very useful re-regulator.

he also helps when she's having bad chronic illness days. she helps whenever he's having a disagreement with his family or otherwise feeling belgh. mutual assistance!!!

CHILDHOOD FRIENDS TO LOVERS it's just so peak. relearning about someone as their lover even though you feel like you've already learned everything about them. god.

cooking!!! norm tends to be the cook, and elodie is his sous chef and distraction. when she's not cutting up some veggies (or accidentally nicking herself), she has her arms around him, head on his shoulder. he'll tell her to move, but doesn't actually mean it.
