in an au where there's no kira and lawlight really do just meet in college light takes L home for dinner and is like ok we both know i have endless patience with what a weird freak you are due to how much of saint i am as we both know. but please try not to be too weird of a freak when you meet my parents. L's like yes okay whatever and then spends the entire dinner with his back really overexaggeratedly straight and making excessively normal small talk about american baseball and the stock market and light's family is bemusedly enchanted but light correctly interprets this as an act of passive aggression and a declaration of war and breaks up with him dramatically over dessert and then cries in his bedroom all night while light's parents are really confused why their nice son seems so angry with his perfectly polite and normal boyfriend who thanked them so sweetly for the ice cream. and soichiro walks L to the train station and bonds with him about law and then is like light i don't know why you behaved so shockingly at dinner tonight when ryuzaki (L uses a fake name for absolutely no reason at all in this au like just to be difficult) is such a nice young man and light punches his wall

I realize it has been approximately 800 years and I am sorry for that (though I am very excited about the new novel!), but I am pleased to report that I am finally working on chapter 10 of the unknown and static strange (Dreamling/The Sandman) and chapter 9 of in the land of snow and shadow (Fivan/Shadow and Bone season 3). The latter is closer to completion and might be posted this weekend, but yes. Maybe the fic muse will (slowly) return to me. We will see.

NOW!! my update. now that i've got a consistent process for making sure models look as good as they can, i've gone back and replaced some of the ones that looked a little less-than-stellar due to my old process. these include hatenna, hattrem, sinistea, and polteageist. i've edited the original posts to include their updated models (and they should look just like they do in-game now!) i debated about whether i wanted to reblog the posts to make sure everyone could see them (especially since i imagine not many folks read responses to asks [especially not this early in the morning]), but i figured i would just link them here just in case so as to not spam your dashboards (and possibly notifications, if you have those on! i'd like to be courteous on your cognitive load!)

I'm just randomly rewatching some Sanders Sides videos and got to the Return of the Jam and I love that in Patton's commercial, Virgil is the straight man that tells Patton he doesn't have a job and they're the same age but as soon as he takes over, he calls him an old man 😂

Hear me out, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived is actually about Joe.

She spends the first half of the song singing about her time with matty, and how betrayed she feels. It’s clearly about him, with the references to drugs, and processing the situationship, the how and why it ended. She’s angry, and in the bridge is her breaking point, asking all of the questions.

But this is where the anger changes and becomes directed at Joe. She’s processing this anger and sadness from her breakup with Joe, and projecting it onto Matty. The whole tone of the song changes, and as soon as she gets to the “I’d have died for your sins” line, she is clearly mourning Joe underneath, but in a surface level punishing matty.

It’s a way for her to cope with the loss of this 6 year relationship, covering it up with a fling, and conflating the feelings of the two, covering the real feelings with anger towards the fling.

This song is the most heartbreaking, and the most vulnerable in my opinion, and just shows how desperate and alone she was really feeling following her break up with Joe.
