The blue star was dwarfed in its massive, chain-scarred hands. “Please wake up.” It whispered.
It brushed it’s fingers against its cold surface.
The shallow glow that remained faintly flickered in response but did nothing else.
“Please.”
Nothing but endless, quiet static from the fog that shifted endlessly around it. Like buzzing flies that found a lifeless carcass.
Rush felt small as it curled up around the ember of light. “I don’t know what I expected..” It murmured dryly. It’s eyes began to drift towards the ceiling.
After awhile, Rush started to talk to the ember about its day. About how Snare was beginning to bloom. How the walls creaked while everyone slept. Joking how Seek was beginning to complain again and how the world was slowly marching forward.
It laid the bed that the two once shared but didn’t sleep. Only watching the chandelier and thinking about the future.
“Goddamn it’s quiet in here..ya know what would be nice ta’h hear?” Rush’s smile grew just a tiny bit. “Your singing.” It said giving the star another sentimental stroke of a hand. “I miss hearing you go..’Da..da..doot doot doo..doot doo.’.. Ya know?”
The star seemed to flicker a tiny bit, which caused Rush to press it even closer into its fog. It laid its head into the pillow, but its eyes never broke from the faint blue glow.
..
Hours must've passed before the music began.
At first, it blended into the silence. The melody was so faint it could've been confused for soft rumbles of the ventilation shafts.
But it grew louder.
It only took Rush a few seconds before it took notice of the broken and pathetic octaves slowly emerging into the air.
..“Guidey..?”..

GuidingRush Poly au angst but i am so horribly burnt out I can barley write anymore. That, and I didn’t write the ending to this because it just feels weird.
But basically the ending is:
Rush tells GL to please stop because it’s own singing sounds like it hurts.
Rush goes back to holding GL for the rest of the night.
But, this takes place shortly after guide attempts to expend the last of its magic into a wall.
Poly au Rush is the human embodiment of *gently holds.* reaction image.
I...tried to make a meme and got carried away and made A Thing that is like partially unfinished because i spent like 3 hours on it and then got tired.
I think this is mostly scientifically accurate but truth be told, there seems to be relatively little research on succession in regards to lawns specifically (as opposed to like, pastures). I am not exaggerating how bad they are for biodiversity though—recent research has referred to them as "ecological deserts."
Ryan Reynolds was on the run from an insanely large alien bug that kept eating him alive. Every time he was eaten whole, he would come back but one less person remembered him and anything he did.
I got excited after seeing him on the street, and he realized I was one of the last to remember him. I had to help him lure the bug under the ocean or to top of a mountain in order to make it more vulnerable so he wouldn't have to find out what happened if he was eaten two more times.
I failed and watched myself forget him and the information about the bug, because he told me about everything before.
I tried to help when I noticed a monster was chasing a dude, but I was slow and dumb.
