I think there's some cognitive dissonance surrounding progress that I really need you all to accept:
Regime changes are not smooth. They're scary even. And rebellions are messy and scary too.
A lot of you are like "yes that makes sense" and I'm glad because when I say this next thing I want you to Not be reactionary and immediately defensive, but listen and remember that progress means taking risks that make you uncomfortable. Remember that you want progress. Don't blurt out the first excuse that comes to mind like Really sit and think about it. Because you're gonna have to accept being uncomfortable if we want things to change.
Stop voting for Democrats and pressuring everyone else to vote democrat. They signed an agreement with Republicans saying that they denounce socialist policies (good welfare programs) in an era of late stage capitalism, poverty, and severe climate change. They intentionally platform extremists to help themselves win (and in fact this strategy backfiring is exactly why Trump won in 2016)
Democrats are not a party of progressives who are trying to fix things. They're literally trying to replace Republicans with extremists on ballots just so ppl feel obligated to vote for them. Democrats are intentionally scaring voters with an alt right & fascist candidates for votes.
If you have ever said "vote blue or else-" or "vote Blue and we might be able to save (state)" then this strategy has worked on you.
If you want Actual progress then you gotta vote for people who are promising you progress. Progressives, independents, green party.
Democrats keep promising that the fire won't get worse, but they've been fanning the flames the whole time cuz they love the heat.
Quit voting for people who prefer that your house be on fire.
And yeah it'll be scary to vote for a party without as much support and yeah maybe it does cause a swing vote.
......But maybe it doesn't.
Maybe we end up with a president willing to do more than compromise our rights with transphobic Republicans. Maybe we get our rights codified & even get a process for handling fascist politicians like trump & Desantis. Maybe we get a president with a personal and genuine interest in the betterment of us not just our economy.
And it starts with you doing something just a little different than usual.
We cant have change if you're too afraid to create it.

the republican way of using hatred and fear to keep a populace under control could only work in a society like ours that brainwashes its citizens to believe that every day is a competition in which you earn something before it can be taken from you by foreigners and minorities

NO! I will NOT just f*cking vote!!
I H8 this privileged sheeple mentality… this thought process is a BIG “screw you” to the marginalized & international community that are suffering at the hands of barberic U.S. policies.
Things are not improving.. it is NOT slow & steady progress… the Government is hyper-focused on colonial expansion into the Middle East & profiting from war… THEY DON’T GIVE A DAMN about the American infrastructure.
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
Voting at this point is INSANITY!

The west needs to get off it's high horse when it comes to democracy, the west is not democratic it's just dictatorship with another face. A dictatorship that is less obvious.
Think about it, there are two mainstream parties usually. Both of them practically are the same and work together. And the minority parties aren't unique either. A lot of them just exist to continue the delusion of there being democracy.
You can see it in book shops when you go into the politics section. You will have huge sections where you can read Barack Obama, Kennedy, Nixon, Gouh Whitlam etc, they are all mainstream politicians and in the corner you might find a bit of Marx and Engels. It's silent censorship that you only notice if you oppose the government.

USA's two-party system is an abomination.
Consider Republican party. The fact that there are only two parties forces all of these to band together in support of it:
-Evangelical Christians
-Proud ideological sucessors of Nazis
-Rich assholes and wannabe rich assholes (libertarians)
-Professional con men (also libertarians)
-Incels
-Paranoid uneducated rural people who both feel underrepresented at the federal level and buy into "the Left wants to legalise pedophilia!1!" bullshit
-Cultured, intelligent, kind Catholics who love their neighbors no matter their race or income, and may even be weakly supportive of LGBT; who would have been otherwise stauch enemies of the GOP and all of the groups above... if they weren't brainwashed into feeling they have a moral obligation to protect the lives of the fetuses more than the actual human beings
The latter two groups are the most disgusting to me precisely because I can see they are not entirely bad people deep down, and seeing them destroy their potential for goodness like that is... The two-party system must be destroyed just so these people could have a better choice than to team up with neo-Nazis.
So its important to understand that the US has always had a two party system, starting right after George Washington's election our politics have been dominated by two major political groups. Federalists vs. AntiFederalists, Federalists vs. Democratic Republicans, Democratic Republicans vs. Democrats, Democrats vs Whigs, Democrats vs. Republicans, and then the two parties changing what Democrat and republican meant for about 150 years. And its due to our voting method, we have a First Past the Post Voting system, which means that to win an election you don't need a majority of the votes, just a pluroality.
So lets say that the 2024 presidental election comes down to AOC, Biden, and Trump (ignoring the electoral college) The people who would vote for AOC are likely people who would have otherwise voted for Biden, which splits the vote. So Trump wins lets say 40% of the vote, while Biden wins 38, and AOC wins 20%. Despite the fact that only 40% of the nation voted for him, Trump because the president, nevermind the fact that literally 60% of the nation voted against him. So in that scenerio, it would be stupid to vote for AOC, even though she is objectively the better choice. Its basic mathematics, voting third party in a First Past the Post System is self destructive.
So all that being said, I think that the Gop has been losing the last group for awhile now, anybody who is still with them at this point I don't think are really kind

the state of American politics TERRIFIES me because what do you fucking mean you're choosing to THROW AWAY YOUR VOTE in the name of activism when the result will be the other guy winning and the thing you're protesting Getting Worse, along with worse lives for already oppressed people in America. a lot of people are giving away how narrow minded they are right now. I'm sorry, but there is no third option until we rally and fight for one, and no one is fighting. not voting for Biden won't end the genocide. you need to be fighting for Palestinian people, but you need to be able to seperate that from the immediate threat of Trump winning. our system is broken, and we need to start fucking fixing it but that process will not be finished before the election ends, and the election WILL end, and if you don't vote for Biden our president will be Trump. you Can Not Let The Need For Change Distract You From The Present

Watch "DOJ indicts Black radicals for "weaponizing speech"" on YouTube
youtube
How long did people who claim to be on the Left insist that censorship under Capitalism wasn't a threat to anyone except Right-wing white nationalists?
Can't make that claim now.
Now we see the FBI raiding the home of 80 year old Black Nationalist Socialist Omali Yeshitela and his wife Ona Zene, leaders of the small but passionate African People's Socialist Party out of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Multiple members of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement as well as the cofounder of the Black Hammer Party along with the leaders of the African People's Socialist Party were all indicted on trumped up charges accusing them of a "plot to promote the political in interests of Russia within the United States."
Back in July, the FBI raided the home and offices of Yeshitela and Zene, throwing smoke bombs through shattered windows and storming in with full camouflage and assault rifles, startling the senior couple in the early hours that morning.
The charges are basically this, that by accepting trips to Moscow and small donations from a Socialist organization with NO evidence of State ties located in Moscow, and by then fielding their own candidates outspoken against the US proxy war in Ukraine in St. Petersburg, Florida, they violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
These kind of minor violations of the statute occur within the two party system everyday, but it's not someone from one of the two Parties being arrested here, instead it's a group of Socialist Black Activists.
This is the two-Party system defending itself and squashing even the tiniest of attempts to defy that system and run independent, Socialist candidates.
Also, this article with more detail from The Real News Network
