Characters: Arthur Griffin, Lucy Stone, Camille Roberts, Jo Taylor, Kendall Knight, James Diamond, Logan Mitchell, Carlos Garcia, Veronica Clark oc, TJ Miller oc, Callie Anderson oc, Addison Tate oc
Pairings: Kendall Knight/Female Original Character, Jo Taylor/Male Original Character, Female Original Character/Female Original Character, Kendall Knight & James Diamond & Logan Mitchell & Carlos Garcia
A/N: the Halloweentown franchise has a sincere place in my heart, and I will always watch the movies every October. But I'm not a big fan of Return to Halloweentown. This is heavily inspired by Halloweentown High, mainly just how the teens wear human suits.
"These are the people you call your friends! They're freaks! Monsters!" Arthur snickered and gestured to the students standing between him and the angry mob of mortals.
James caught Lucy when she fell. The warlock had taken her and her brother's magic per their agreement about a week ago.
"How could you do this? We trusted you!"
Arthur Griffin was the CEO of RCM-CBT and a council member for Halloweentown. And unfortunately, he could keep his fellow council members in his pocket. Reinforcing the idea that mortals were afraid of monsters. That mortals hated them. He wasn't keen on letting children from Halloweentown attend a mortal high school but allowed Lucy and the Stone family to at least try.
But all he wanted was their magic, and she gave him an easy way.
The angry mob formed after the Halloween festival's calamity was confused and shocked. The people they had known and befriended were apparently creatures from another dimension. They stood at a standstill.
"Yeah, that's right. We're monsters." TJ unzipped his human suit and shook like a dog. His dark fur puffed up, and he kicked the suit to the side.
His eyes scanned for Jo in the crowd. She was wearing a fairy costume. The blonde girl stared at him as though enraptured by the sight before her. Although he was covered in fur from head to toe, he was the same person she ate lunch with. He was the same guy who helped her with her French classes.
A weight was lifted off his shoulders when she didn't scream or run for the hills.
"Finally! We don't have to hide!" Carlos cheered as he shook off his human suit.
The girl in the leather catsuit that he brought on a date shrieked when he pulled the bolts out of his neck and removed his head. She actually fainted. Carlos popped his head back on and accidentally switched the bolts in his neck, causing a jolt of electricity to zap Griffin.
Kendall looked to Ronnie, who ducked behind James. She felt guilty for lying to him, but she didn't want him to view her any differently just because she was a monster.
"Now, this door shouldn't have been opened in the first place," Arthur grimaced as he stepped back into the glowing orange doorway. The gateway between our worlds will be permanently closed... forever."
"What? But we have to go home to see our families!" Ben, with the help of their principal, stood up.
"I'm sorry, that's not under my jurisdiction." Arthur faked a pout. White limestone bricks filled the doorway, and soon it was sealed.
"No!" Carlos slammed his fists against the wall. "I wanted to show my dad our haunted house!" he screamed, banging his fists against the limestone. His bolts zapped bright, hot electricity in his hair, making the short strands stand on end.
"No. No! This isn't fair! I did what they wanted!" Lucy snapped, and she joined Carlos, slamming his fists against the brick wall. "You tricked me! You tricked my brother! Give me my magic back!"
The angry mortal mob fell silent. There was nothing else for them to rage about. Instead, they were looking at monsters who were like them. Teenagers who needed their families and who wanted to forge their own identities.
Ronnie squeaked when James gently pushed her toward Kendall. He flashed a toothy smile and waggled his eyebrows. The words were caught in her throat as she looked up at him. Her face bloomed a reddish color, and she wrung her hands together.
"I haven't... Exactly been honest with you..." She mumbled and grabbed the zipper of her human suit.
Kendall stared at her wordlessly. He had no idea what she would look like when she tugged it off, but he had always been curious about how clumsy she was. Sometimes, it was as if she had never walked on two legs. Her heart thrummed in her ears, and she seemingly forgot that she didn't have human legs, unlike how mermaids could change between aquatic and land.
Kendall caught her before she fell, and Ronnie squeaked, hiding her face in her hands. Her webbed ears flapped frantically. He was entranced with the scales that littered her body. It was like he was looking at the moon.
"Well, I mean, if everyone is taking off these damned things." Callie shrugged and took off her human suit as well. Her translucent body wavering in the air, glitching like static on a television screen.
"No way." Addison gasped. Her eyes were wide like saucers.
"Sorry, sweetheart. There isn't anything tangible to hold onto..."
"This is so cool!" Addison squealed in glee.
"I'm a ghost. You can't touch me."
"You're still beautiful," Addison giggled, making the ghost girl blush, her body taking on a pink color. "Woah..." Addison took a step back.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Jo gently touched TJ's arm, and he jumped and whirled around to face her.
"I'm sorry, I was scared. I couldn't- I thought you wouldn't like me... If I was covered in fur."
"Are you crazy?" Jo quirked a brow. "I could hardly care about your fur." She shook her head with a laugh. "All that means is I have a personal heater."
TJ's tail started wagging, giving him away. He let out a pitiful whine and scooped her up into a hug.
"See?" Lucy called to the brick wall. "Mortals have changed!" She kicked the wall and instantly regretted it, hopping in place as she held her foot.
"Stupid chairman..."
"You were right, Ben. This ring never fit me." Their principal threw away his ring, and it clattered to the ground like tin. He was renouncing the Knights of the Iron Dagger once and for all.
Ben's eyes sparkled. And hope swelled in his chest.
Even if the gateway was closed indefinitely, that didn't mean the people here hated them. Of course, it was all Griffin's plan. He was a brilliant mastermind but would never have a chance against Lucy and her brother.
Then the bricks illuminated with an orange glow, and Carlos pulled Lucy back.
Maybe Griffin didn't win after all.

Looking at your last reblog I never peeped Michael Trevino’s eyebrow lift and side gaze at Joseph pushing Klonnie…can you imagine Tyler being forced to be the wingman for Klaus?
Suddenly, I'm feeling creative. I haven't written a drabble or a fic concept in a while. I couldn’t help but try this as a prompt. First, check out my previous ask here (TLDR: Klaus and his inner wolf being thirsty as hell for Bonnie) on the inspo behind this post:
Red Moon, Red Roses
Tumblr media
Klaus watches her. His eyes follow her every move. The Bennett witch doesn't know he's there (or does she?), but he makes note of all his observations in his mind. What started his sudden fascination with her? It was Rebekah and a throwaway remark about her friends needing Bonnie more than she needed them. It was true. Without her, they had nothing. With the distance growing between Bonnie and her friends, his world was filled with possibilities. Could he recruit her? Attack her? Charm her? Kill her? Seduce her?
He lies to himself about not knowing what he wants from the girl. His inner wolf was screaming at him. It was the night of the red moon that he crawled himself to her. He fought his wolf, but Klaus couldn't resist the siren's call. Those golden eyes trailed her every move. The girl- The woman wore a long, thin nightgown and gently applied lotion to her body. He could practically smell her skin. Roses.
He knew the truth. Bonnie was his heart's desire. Klaus' wolf wanted nothing more than to knock on her door, but he couldn't. The vampire kept him away. He couldn't do it. He refused to be rejected and be unwanted again. Before leaving, he plucks a flower from her garden (the same one she used to make perfume). He drags himself home and finds himself being questioned by his hybrids in the morning. Where was he? He wouldn't tell them. It wasn't until Tyler suspiciously commented that he smells like Bonnie that Klaus' hopes rise.
Tyler was her friend. They weren't particularly close, but Bonnie cared for him. Klaus remembered her concern when he turned the Lockwood boy. Tyler was not a threat to him as a potential rival for his beloved. However, he could be an asset. Tyler was Klaus' way in. The wolf was his chance to be closer to Bonnie. Tyler would help him willingly or not. The football player reluctantly agrees to assist Klaus in his pursuit of Bonnie. Tyler knew it would be hard to convince Bonnie to give the Original a chance, but he'd do anything to keep Klaus from looking at Caroline.
Watch out, Bonnie. Klaus is coming for your heart.

Tell Me We’re Okay
Pairing: Tyler Joseph x Reader
Warnings: Angst, profanity
Word Count: 1958
Request: please please please do a Level Of Concern type chapter!
Author’s Note: I tried to balance scenes from the lyrics and scenes from the music video so that I could capture all of Level of Concern! Also, requests will be opening on Friday, so start thinking of ideas :) I hope you enjoy this one! (picture credit)
Tumblr media
Your foot tapped nervously against the tile floors. You already had one hand tightly gripped around the straps of your backpack, ready to pull it up over your shoulder as soon as you got the ok to leave. Class was supposed to end nearly five minutes ago, but your professor was still droning on. At this rate, you were going to miss your normal bus home and end up waiting fifteen minutes in the rain for the next one.
“Sir? Class is over,” someone hesitantly said, their hand barely raised over their head.
Thank you, random classmate.
“Is it? Oh, look at the time! We’ll finish this next week. Thank you.”
You shot out of your seat, pulling your backpack over your shoulder as you weaved through the other students who were still packing up their things. If you were fast, you could probably still make it the two blocks down to the bus stop in time.
To your surprise, Tyler was standing just outside the classroom, his back pressed to the plain white wall. He looked up when he heard the door open, a smile instantly lighting up his face. In one fluid motion, he picked up his backpack from where it was sitting on the ground and fell into step with you.
“I was wondering where you were,” he said, a smile still plastered on his face. “I got here like twenty minutes ago.”
“Sorry, class ran late,” you said, as if it were your fault. “Did you need something?”
“Um, I did actually. That’s why I waited out here to talk to you.”
You didn’t have time for his lengthy explanations. “Can you make it quick, Ty? I really need to make sure I don’t miss the bus.”
“Yeah, ok. So, basically, my music professor wants us to film a video for a piece that we wrote earlier in the semester. I’ve been brainstorming all week and I haven’t come up with any video ideas that I like and I’m starting to get really stressed out because we only have a few days left. Plus, there’s this girl in my class - Julie - who already did hers and it’s really good. I don’t know if I can live up to that. I even called Mark to help but he’s out of town this week so he can’t.”
You pulled your hood up before pushing open the metal door that separated the stairwell from the outside world. The sound of rain splashing against the pavement instantly filled your ears, making it more difficult to hear Tyler. He was still rambling on about his project.
“What I’m trying to get at is that I was wondering if you had any ideas?”
“Ty, listen,” you stopped walking for just a moment, “I would love to help, but I don’t have time to sit here and help you brainstorm. I need to catch my bus so I don’t end up stuck in the pouring rain for twenty minutes. I’ll call you later, alright?”
Tyler’s face fell, but he nodded slowly. “Cool. See you later.”
You gave him a quick kiss and turned just in time to see the bus come over the hill up ahead. With rain splashing over your feet, you jogged the final blocks to the bus stop and boarded just before the doors closed.
*     *    *
“Again?” you muttered as the familiar beginning of Tyler’s voicemail played. You had called him numerous times over the past couple of hours, but each attempt was sent straight to voicemail. If you were being honest, it was starting to get a bit worrying.
You set your phone down, deciding to wait another fifteen minutes before you attempted to call him again. It wasn’t like him to not pick up your calls, but maybe he was wrapped up in his music project and didn’t hear his phone ringing. This wouldn’t be the first time it happened, you had lost count of how many times Tyler had missed your calls when he was doing homework or writing music.
Your phone buzzed a few minutes later. Eager to see if it was finally a response from Tyler, you ignored the paragraph you were reading to check your messages. As expected, there was a new message from Tyler, but it wasn’t as friendly as you had hoped.
Tyler: Please stop calling, I’m trying to get this project done.
Y/N: Did you need help?
You tapped your fingers against the edge of your phone, waiting for the little bubbles to pop up and let you know that Tyler was typing. It wasn’t until just after you had given up on waiting and gone back to reading that a text message from him finally came through.
Tyler: I thought you “didn’t have time to sit and help me brainstorm”
“Shit,” you muttered, reading over the text message a few more times as you tried to think of a good response.
Y/N: I was just worried about missing my bus, but I’m more than happy to help you now
An uncomfortable pit settled in your stomach as you waited for Tyler’s answer. It wasn’t like you two to get into fights, and you hated to think that Tyler might be mad at you for a little while. Could you really not have sacrificed fifteen minutes to help him out?
Tyler: You don’t have to
But you wanted to. Without a moment’s hesitation, you stuck a post-it note in your textbook and closed it with a thud. Your shoes were still sitting by your bed from when you had gotten home, so you quickly slipped them on and grabbed the rest of the things that you were going to need.
You weren’t going to let Tyler deal with this alone.
*     *     *
“You’re not my pizza,” was the first thing out of Tyler’s mouth when he opened the door.
“Sorry to disappoint,” you said.
“What are you doing here?”
“I came to help,” you smiled. “And I brought snacks.”
On the way to Tyler’s house, you had made a quick stop to the grocery store to pick up some of his favorite things: Red Bull, you weren’t sure how long this video shoot was going to take, his favorite candy, and a couple bags of chips. Along with keeping you two fueled, you also hoped it would let your apology go over a little bit smoother.
“I’m really sorry for how I acted earlier today. It was wrong and I should have stayed and helped you out, even if it meant taking a later bus.”
Tyler crossed his arms, “I was explaining how much of a toll this project is taking on me and it’s like you weren’t even listening to me.”
“No, I know. I should have been a better listener and I’m sorry for that. That’s why I’m here now, to make up for it.”
Tyler pursed his lips and held a hand out, motioning for the plastic grocery store bag that you were carrying. You passed it to him, half expecting him to take it and shut the door in your face. He opened it up and looked through it, examining the contents.
“Apology accepted, you can stay,” he said, looking up at you with a smile.
“So we’re alright?”
“Yeah, we’re ok. Come here.”
Tyler held out an arm and you happily buried your face in his shoulder. The button down that he was wearing was a bit scratchy against your cheek, but you were just happy that he wasn’t mad at you.
“I love you,” you mumbled.
“I love you too.”
“So, how should we start brainstorming?”
“Well, I actually have an idea. Here, let me show you.”
Tyler grabbed your hand and led you towards the basement. Your jaw dropped as soon as you reached the bottom of the stairs. There was stuff all over the place: outfits thrown over the back of the couch, multicolored lights, flashlights of various sizes. The only clear space was right in front of Tyler’s desk, which just so happened to be where the camera was set up.
“What is your idea?” you asked, beginning to slowly tiptoe through the piles of stuff towards his room.
“Since it’s about quarantine and bunkers and all that, I thought it would be cool to make a music video that’s also sort of a home video. It’s actually really nice that you showed up because I needed a second person for the other camera.”
“What about your family?” you asked, suddenly realizing how silent the house was.
“They went out to dinner so I could have a quiet workspace, but that was before I realized I needed a cameraman.”
“That was nice of them.”
“Yeah, it’s a lot easier to film without someone constantly yelling.”
“Zack?” you laughed.
“Exactly.”
Tyler set the bag of stuff you had brought down on his desk and collapsed on his bed. You sat down next to him and slowly laid back next to him.
“So, where do we start?”
*      *     *
You quickly lost track of time as you and Tyler worked on the video. It was surprisingly fun helping him out, doing things like costume changes, helping him with his instruments, or finding the perfect angle for a shot. There were a few hiccups with Tyler not being totally happy with something, but you always managed to calm him down and get it fixed. As it turns out, the two of you made a pretty good team.
“Alright, I just need to add the credits and then it’s ready,” Tyler smiled.
“It only took us…” you picked up your phone and checked the time. It was almost one in the morning. “...seven hours.”
“Hopefully the outcome will be worth it.”
“It will,” you smiled, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
“I told a friend in my class the other day that I haven’t been this nervous about something since I asked you on a date,” he laughed.
“This project means a lot to you, it makes sense to be nervous.”
“I know.”
You smiled as Tyler typed your name into the credits under the title “Assistant Creative Director.”
“That’s a nice title,” you laughed.
“Maybe one day it will be on a music video for millions of people to see,” Tyler said, leaning his head against yours. “Alright, are we ready to watch?”
“Yes.”
Tyler passed you one half of his earbuds and stuck the end into his computer, which was whirring loudly from trying to run the editing software. You gave him a thumbs up and he hit play.
There was a smile on your face for the entire video. You loved everything about it, from the music that Tyler had worked so hard to produce to the dance moves that he had whipped out for the camera. You were glad that he had a tripod for those shots, you weren’t sure that you would have been able to keep the camera steady enough while you were laughing at how cute he was. There were even a few shots that you had made it into.
When the video finally ended, you turned to Tyler with an excited smile on your face.
“Ty, this is amazing. You nailed the assignment.”
“You think so?” he asked, his eyebrows raising ever so slightly.
You nodded, “I really do. I loved every second of that.”
“Thank you so much. For your support and your help, it really helped keep me calm,” he smiled.
“Of course, I’m always going to be here for you.”
Tyler grabbed your face and pulled you into a kiss. You smiled and leaned closer to him, finally letting the exhaustion from helping him set in. On his computer, the music slowly faded out.

Forget The Night
Pairing: Tyler x reader
Word Count: 600
Warnings: Language, Angst, and talk of ~the sexuals~
Author’s note: I hope you enjoyed this short little Tyler drabble!
Tumblr media
“Tyler I really think you should go to bed,” you suggest to your husband who was hunched over his keyboard. You placed your hands on his shoulders and start to give him a little massage, making him roll his head.
“Everything just sounds the fucking same,” Tyler stood up abruptly, making you jump a little. You were shocked at the language that he used since he rarely swore.
“Ty-”
“I need alone time, please just go up to bed,” he walked into the kitchen with his hands held up behind his head. It was around one in the morning, and the last thing you wanted to do was head upstairs.
“I don’t care if you need time alone. Tyler Joseph, I am your partner, and I know when your brain starts to torture you. Either come upstairs with me or I’m going to drag your sorry ass up there,” you stare him in his eyes. He mouth dropped a little, not knowing what exactly to say.
“I don’t understand why you can’t just let me-”
“What? Wallow in your own self-pity at one in the morning?” you interrupted him. You walked over to him and grabbed his hand and pulled him up the stairs.
“My head hurts,” Tyler threw himself on the bed face first. You walked over to the bed and sat next to him. You scratched his back softly and gave him soft kisses on his neck. You flipped him and you could see his eyes were wet with tears.
“Ty, my love, talk to me,” you placed a kiss on his eye, drying his tears.
“What if I’m not good anymore. What if I’ve run out of creativity?”
“Music runs in your blood, my love. You will always be able to create music,” you tried your best to reassure him.
“I just keep on feeling like a failure.”
“Well you aren’t a failure and you need to try your best to fight those insecurities. Remember, cause the dark's not taking prisoners tonight.”
“You can’t just use my own lyrics to prove your point,” Tyler chuckled a little, finally letting a smile emerge.
“Well you wrote them for a reason, and you need to listen to them more often!” You stood up from the bed and started to get undressed.
“How did I end up marrying the most gorgeous person in the world?” he stood up and walked over to you, and held you from behind.
“Ty, I need to put my pajamas on,” you whispered but he was already planting kisses down your neck.
“But you look so good like this,” his hot breath on your neck sent chills down your spine. He always knew how to make you blush.
“I don’t want to be the only one naked,” you whispered. Tyler threw his shirt off, revealing his tattoos on his body. The black was iridescent in the lighting and you went over and traced the black bands around his elbow.
“I want to make love to you,” he murmured.
“I would love that.” You grabbed his hand and led him to the bed where you laid on top of him and showered him with kisses.
The lovemaking was passionate and made Tyler forget about all his insecurities from the night. You both ended up a sweaty mess as you laid your head on his chest. Tyler drew circles on your shoulder as he kissed you softly one last time.
“Time to sleep, my love?” he asked.
You nodded, “I love you, Tyler Joseph.”
“I love you more, Y/F/N Y/L/N.”

Love Song Drabbles: I Found
Love Song Series
There is a playlist on Spotify called ‘You and Me’. I have decided to start a loosely affiliated drabble series based on these songs - one for each song. This drabble is part of that series.
Welcome to ‘Love Songs’.
I Found
Word Count: 1344
Summary: Tyler is expecting you to show up at a major hometown show, but you are missing. Hurt and confused he gets some news he wasn’t ready to handle and finds some feelings he didn’t know he had. TylerxReader
Notes: This drabble is based on the song ‘I Found’ by Amber Run.
Warnings: Mentions of past injuries and hospitals.
Dedication: @ohprettyweeper
Tumblr media
“The tickets will be waiting for you at the box office,” you could hear Tyler’s smile through the phone, “so make sure you bring an ID to pick them up.”
“Of course,” you tried to sound excited through the pain.
“And I assumed you would be bringing Marie, so there are two tickets,” his voice changed from excited to concerned.
“Thanks,” you count out the painkillers in your head before picking them up from the counter.
“Are you alright?” his voice was small, “you seem distant.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” you wince, you weren’t doing as good a job as you thought, “I just have a headache is all.”
“Another one?” his voice was serious now, “you had one just the other day too.”
“It’s just stress from work, is all,” you pop the pills into your mouth, “promise.”
“As long as you are taking care of yourself,” he seemed to relax.
“I am,” you quickly swallowed a glass of water.
“I’m so excited to see you,” Tyler said softly, “it’s been too long.”
“Yeah,” you smiled. It had been almost a year since the last time the two of you had spoken face to face - too long. While you had been close since about your sophomore year of high school, this growing thing between the two of you had never really been addressed. You didn’t keep in touch with other friends from fifteen years ago like you did him, and there was something that wasn’t there before. It sat between the words you did manage to say, like a weight on a scale, tipping your feelings in his direction.
“I’m going to let you go, so you can get some rest, okay?” he yawned.
“Okay,” you resisted the urge to yawn as well.
“Good night, Y/N,” he paused for a moment. “Sleep well, Lollipop.”
You felt your heart skip a beat, he hadn’t used that name for you since before the band had gotten big. It had been years.
“You too, Maverick,” you returned the gesture, hoping it sent some of your feelings silently over the phone.
“See ya.”
“Yeah, see ya,” you hear the silence settle on the other end before lowering your phone from your ear.
You would talk to him tomorrow after the show. You had to. About everything.
Tyler threw his arms in the air, the roar from the crowd washed over the stage like a breaking wave.
Another glance over his shoulder, towards the side of the stage - the tech shook his head.
Feeling his heart drop a little lower, his fingers found the keys for the next song and he shook his head, a little harder than normal to adjust his thoughts. He needed to be here, to be in the now - these people had come for a show and he would give them one. They were important and should be his priority. But the empty stage left, and the unclaimed backstage passes slowly ate away at him as the night wore on.
“This next song is for my main man, Josh,” he pushed through, he always did.
“What’s going on, man?” Josh wiped down his face with the white towel. “You’ve been off tonight.”
“I’m sorry,” Tyler’s fingers massaged his forehead. “She didn’t show up.”
“Y/N?” Josh frowned as his shoulders fell, “so, Marie didn’t either?”
“No,” Tyler’s voice was quiet.
“You should call them,” Josh put the towel down and stretched his sides, “something might have happened to them.”
“Yeah,” Tyler dug through his dressing room bag, “I just hope they’re alright.”
“I’m sure it’s nothing serious-” Josh was cut short by the look on his bandmates face, “what is it?”
“I have sixteen missed calls from Marie,”  he rubbed the back of his head as he pulled up the voicemails, “I think I might need to go.”
“Yeah man,” Josh watched Tyler pace as he listened to the panicked sound in Marie’s voice over the phone.
Tyler’s eyes were wide as he jumped between messages. “She’s at Wexner,” he cut off Marie’s last message, “let’s go.”
He paused in the doorway of the small hospital room. It was dark except for the small fluorescent light near the bed. Marie turned in her chair to look at them, there were tears in her eyes. She bit her bottom lip before turning back around.
Tyler slowly crossed the room. Stopping at the end of the bed.
And I’ll use you as a warning sign. That if you talk enough sense, then you’ll lose your mind.
“She looks so small,” his voice was barely audible. The number of things hooked up to your body was overwhelming. “What happened?”
“They think she blacked out,” Marie’s hands were in her lap, she was wringing them together, “she ran a light and hit a tree.”
And I’ll use you as a focal point. So I don’t lose sight of what I want.
“Blacked out?” Josh stood behind Marie, resting a hand on her shoulder gently, “is that something she does?”
“It’s happened a few times before,” Marie glanced up at him. Tears ran fresh down her face, “I should have taken an hour off work,” she began to gasp for air, fighting back sobs, “I should have driven her. She had been having headaches, I knew it wasn’t good for her to be driving alone.”
“Hey, hey,” Josh came around the chair, “this isn’t your fault.” He took her hands in his.
Marie was trying to regain composure.
And I've moved further than I thought I could But I missed you more than I thought I would
Tyler’s hands slowly found their way towards yours, “she had a headache last night.”
“Did she?” Marie wiped her cheeks, “you should tell the nurse when she comes back. She didn’t mention it to me, so I wasn’t sure when her last one was.”
“Why was she getting headaches?” Tyler’s fingers wrapped around yours, “what are they from?”
“She was in a really bad car accident almost a year ago,” Marie’s hands squeezed Josh’s, “the Doctor’s aren’t sure why she keeps having them, or why she’s blacking out. She’s been getting tests done.”
“Why didn’t she say anything to me?” Tyler’s eyes began to fill with tears. He continued to stare at your face, all bruised and cut up from the collision.
And I'll use you as a makeshift gauge Of how much to give and how much to take
“You were touring,” Marie sighed, “she didn’t want to burden you. It seems silly now, but she was so determined not to be a bother. Not to dissuade you from what you were doing.”
Tyler clenched his jaw, “yeah that sounds like her.”
Marie stood up, “I’m going to go get some coffee. Give you some time with her.”
“I’ll go with you,” Josh trailed after her. “That is,” he paused and glanced at Tyler, “if you’ll be okay.”
He only nodded.
I'll use you as a warning sign That if you talk enough sense then you'll lose your mind
“You’re an idiot,” he mumbled to the room, “you should have told me.”
He leaned forward and rested his forehead against the back of your hand.
“If you don’t wake up from this,” his voice caught in his throat, “I’ll never forgive you, you know.”
He felt some pressure as your hand gently squeezed his. He looked up. Your eyes were still closed but he could tell you were listening.
“I sang a song for you tonight,” he ran his finger tips over your knuckles, “it’s an old one, I’m sure you’ll remember it.”
He inhaled and began to sing, his voice quivering, “The only difference between life and dying, is one is trying, that's all we're called to do. So try to love me and I'll try to save you. Won't you stay alive? I'll take you on a ride, I will make you believe you are lovely.”
And I found love where it wasn't supposed to be Right in front of me Talk some sense to me

Overreaction (Josh Dun x reader)
Summary: Arguments over the littlest of things happen to everyone. It’s how you handle them that matters. In the early days of twenty one pilots, when their future isn’t guaranteed, Josh finds that he isn’t particularly good at handling stress...
Word count: 1794
Warnings: Josh is kind of an ass here, but definitely more in an ‘I’m stressed and don’t know how to cope’ way than an ‘I’m an actual prick’ way. You get me?
The house was quiet when he woke up. The sort of quiet that sat coldly in his bones and left a weight in his stomach, filling the air in every room and leaving everything feeling grey and still. His heart sank further as he stuck his head into the guest bedroom and saw the bed neatly made, the top of the dresser empty.
They hadn’t come back.
His mind was filled with images of the evening before as guilt washed over him.
“Josh, please, can you just lay off the drumming for half an hour? I just wanna get this last section done.” (y/n) dug their fingers into their temples, frowning over the essay they were trying to finish. When he’d suggested that they spend the afternoon at his flat so they could both finish the work they needed to do and then spend the weekend hanging out, they’d jumped to say yes. But while it had been a good idea at the time, things hadn’t gone quite to plan.
Josh had been working on some ideas for the music video he and Tyler were meant to be shooting in a week’s time while (y/n) was working on finishing an assignment that was due on the Monday. It was frustratingly difficult work, and at first their boyfriend’s presence was a relaxing one.
The two of them were sat on opposite sides of the breakfast bar, laptops and papers spread out in an inelegant tangle as they worked. The kitchen smelled of fresh coffee and a soft instrumental playlist was on in the background. For a couple of hours, the atmosphere was incredibly peaceful. But then, Josh finished his work. And he got bored. He tidied up his laptop and notebooks to kill a little time, but soon found that he needed more to do.
Thinking back to the discussion he’d had with Tyler over some new ideas for songs, he decided to sit down at his practice pad for a little while and get some rhythms out of his head, see if any of them fit the beautiful words that his bandmate had put together. He slipped his headphones on and plugged them in, relaxing as he wrapped his hands around the drum sticks and got ready to play.
Engrossed in reading the resources they’d found, (y/n) jumped as he started tapping away, their concentration shattered. At first they tried to just ignore it and carry on, but the repetitive beats that only got louder and more complex made it impossible to keep their mind on the words they needed to write.
And so, they had politely asked him to stop.
Josh had barely glanced back at them, tapping his feet in time with the thoughts running through his brain. “I’m just tryna get this idea down so it matches the stuff from Tyler.”
“Yeah, but can it wait? Is there some other way you can think about it that isn’t so... loud? I’m still working.”
He sighed. “Babe, this is part of my work. So I’m still working too.”
“I get that, I do. It just doesn’t make it very easy to think about the history of genetics, you know?” They’d laughed slightly, trying to lighten the mood a little. But a dark cloud had descended over the room, and Josh’s continued frown made their smile fade.
“Look, this is important.”
“I never said it wasn’t.” Now they were frowning too. “I just asked-”
“I’m trying to make this whole band thing work, okay? And maybe you don’t think that takes as much effort as a fancy college degree, but it’s damn hard.”
(y/n) felt like a deer in the headlights, taken aback by the sharpness of his response. “Hey, I know how hard you guys are working on this, and I know how much it matters to you. All I’m asking for is half an hour of quiet so I can get this done. And then I’ll sit and listen, okay? Maybe I can try and help you go through some of the ideas you’ve got.”
He sniffed, shaking his head. “Yeah, like you actually care. All you can think about is yourself.”
Their jaw dropped as he turned back to the kit, hitting the pads even harder now that he had some anger to get out of his system. “Josh, I-”
“No, it’s fine! It’s fine that you’re more worried about one stupid essay - one essay that won’t even affect your perfect GPA anyway - than you are about me being happy with my career. Nice to know. Really.”
He’d never snapped at them before. Tears prickled hotly at the corners of their eyes. Silently, they gathered their things and packed them into their bag, dipping into the guest room briefly to get what little else they’d brought. Then two doors slammed, one shortly after another.
It took almost an hour for Josh to notice what had happened in the aftermath of the argument. Finally satisfied, he put his sticks down - and turned to face an empty room. That’s when he realised that (y/n) had grabbed what little they had brought round to his place and left.
Groaning at his own idiocy, Josh found himself getting anxious. Last night he’d assumed they’d just gone home, but what if something had happened to them while they were out? What if they were in a hospital, or being held hostage by someone, or... no, he couldn’t think like that. He sighed, chewed at his lip, and made the decision to phone them. It was obviously better to apologise in person, but somehow he doubted that showing up at their apartment unannounced would be welcomed. Besides, just hearing their voice for the moment would be enough to assuage his growing intrusive thoughts. The phone rang through a couple of times before abruptly cutting off. Nothing. But with the short ring period, he knew it wasn’t because their phone was broken or switched off. They’d declined the call.
Pacing back and forth across his living room, Josh rang Tyler instead. Thankfully, his best friend answered straight away.
“Yeah?”
“Ty, I screwed up.”
“Oh, I know.”
He stopped walking for a moment, frowning. “Wait, what?”
He could hear Tyler close a door before answering. “(y/n) came here last night. And dude I’ve gotta tell you, I haven’t seen them that upset in a long time.”
Josh felt his heart sink. “What did they say?”
“That you made them feel like you didn’t want them there. That you told them they didn’t care about you, which a blind man could see is total rubbish.” His friend sounded angry, and he was definitely starting to feel that it was justified. “They said that it was you who didn’t seem to care about them. That you didn’t think about the fact this essay is due Monday and they’ve got a midterm on Wednesday, even though they’d told you all about how worried they were when they got to yours. Dude. You were a real jerk.”
He let his head drop against the wall with a soft thud, feeling well and truly like an idiot. “I don’t even know why I said all that stuff. I feel terrible.”
“Yeah, you should. I had to come and pick them up because it was getting dark and they were crying too much to keep walking home.”
He felt his heart sink painfully. “I... I made them cry?”
Hearing the crack in Josh’s voice, Tyler sighed. “Look man, just get over here. You’re both a bit calmer now, and you can talk things over. You can apologise.”
“I- Yeah, okay, that’s a good idea. I’ll be there soon. Thanks man.”
Burying their hands in the hoodie’s sleeves, (y/n) chewed at the dry skin on their lips until Tyler nudged them in the side.
“Hey, knock that off. You’ll make them sore.”
“Are you sure he’s not still mad at me?”
Tyler pulled them in for a hug, rubbing their back soothingly. “Hey, I know he isn’t. You know, I don’t think he was ever really mad at you in the first place. Just real stressed. And that’s not me trying to excuse what he said to you, because it was totally out of line. I just don’t think he’s capable of being mad at you.”
A knock on the door interrupted them, and he let them go so he could go and answer it. When Josh set eyes on them, red around the eyes and pale with lack of sleep, he burst towards them and took their hands in his, babbling almost frantically.
“Shit, (y/n) I- I’m so, so sorry. I have no idea why I said the things I did - I shouldn’t have, no way. None of those things were true. I think I - everything lately has been so hard, so uncertain - I just want us to do well, and... your degree is so stable and nothing I do is guaranteed and that... I don’t know, maybe it - I don’t even know!”
He was practically tearing his hair out at this point, and (y/n) stopped him with a hand on his cheek. “Hey, slow down. One thing at a time. Were you really mad at me yesterday?”
“No, of course not. I think I... I was just worried about a lot of things and you happened to say something at the wrong time.”
“So you... you don’t really think that I don’t care about you?”
He could see them welling up again, and opened his arms for a hug the same way he always did - never pulling them in first, always checking that they were okay with the contact before doing so. They leant into him, tucking their chin on his shoulder as he held them as tightly as he dared.
“No. I think that’s the worst thing I said to you, and I don’t even know where it came from. I just - I am so sorry, babe. I hate that I treated you like that.”
“Thank you for apologising. And, I forgive you.” They pressed a soft kiss to his lips, hands resting against his chest as his moved to their waist.
When they pulled back he barely gave them a second to breathe before kissing them again with a little more force, his tongue dancing at the seam of their mouth.
“Oh, gross. I leave you two alone for five minutes and this is what happens.”
They pulled apart, both giggling a little at the look of mock disgust on Tyler’s face. Beneath it, the relief was clearly visible.
“Sorry man.”
“Yeah, whatever, I’m just glad you two are okay now. Next time, get a room that isn’t my kitchen, deal?”
“Deal.”

cliquetober day 11: antlers (a twenty one pilots drabble)
Fandom: Twenty One Pilots
Word Count: 315
Trigger Warnings: None!
Author’s Notes: Something a bit more lighthearted for today KJDHSFG
❝ After the events of The Outside MV, Tyler finds out he has antlers on his head.
“They’re going to notice, aren’t they?” ❞
also read it on ao3!
Josh froze, his eyes widening. “Uh…Tyler?”
The other man turned to look at him as he waited on the beach. “Yeah?”
Josh didn’t know what to say. He glanced at the top of Tyler’s head, then back to his face. “You kind of…uh…”
“Kind of what?” he asked.
Josh motioned to where his beanie sat. Tyler mimicked his action, but immediately paused. Something was growing from the top of his head.
He felt around more and found a wood-like texture. His fingers met pointed ends, branching out from a single stem.
His eyes widened. They were antlers.
He looked at Josh. “Dude, what the– How did–”
“I don’t know!”
At that moment, Tyler remembered the ritual. If there was one thing he knew about the Neds, it was that he didn’t know much at all. He never knew they could grow horns, let alone be used to intercept the Bishops.
“Where’s Ned?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” replied Josh. “He’s not in the cave.”
Tyler’s brow furrowed as he sighed. The two of them had only heard rumors of the ritual, with the Glorious Gones and their glowing eyes. “Do you think this ever happens to the Bishops?”
“They don’t have antlers, as far as I’m aware,” Josh said.
“They could always cut them off. Seems in character for them to have horns.”
Josh laughed. They kept their torches raised, mirrored by distant lights from the opposite shore. The other Banditos would be here in a few minutes to bring them back to the main continent.
Tyler felt the antlers on his head again. He paused for a moment. “They’re going to notice, aren’t they?”
The other man tilted his head. “...Yeah, they probably will,” he replied. He tugged his friend’s beanie to somewhat cover the pointed tips. “That might work. They won’t see a thing.”
Josh couldn’t help but smile. Tyler sighed.

Happy New Year!
New Year's Eve Tyler Joseph x reader no pronouns used, reader is a teetotaler but just bcuz I am, kissy kissy, you kiss mwah
---- The balcony is a stark contrast to the wild party inside, and you're glad to be out and away from it, even though you had been having fun, just for a minute it was nice to be able to breathe without drunk partygoers all up in your space.
You hear the glass door slide open, and a guy steps out next to you. You can't really make out his features in the dark, but you swear he was the guy up and killing it at karaoke no less than an hour ago. He glances at you, as if asking permission. You nod and he leans on the railing beside you. He eyes the cup in your hand, a plastic instead of a flute. "What are you–" he starts to ask but you cut him off. "A club soda; I don't drink." "Ah, I see." He shifts on his feet. "Do you.... So uh... Do you know Josh?" He asks. "Yeah," "I swear I've met or maybe seen you before, but I don't remember." "You're uh.... Tyler, right? Tyler something?" "Joseph. My friends call me Tyjo." He jokes with a conspiratorial wink, making you chuckle. "Yeah...." You look out at the trees of your friend of a friend's yard, leafless and dusted with snow, most of them birches. You'd always thought views of trees from off the ground pretty. "So how are you...?" "So you're– sorry, you first." "No I was just silence filling, you go ahead." "So how are you feeling about, y'know, this year ending?" "Good riddance," you say. "It's been garbage." You groan. "What about you?" "I... It's been awful. Like nothing too bad has happened to me, me personally, but, nothing good has happened either. I'm hoping things will be better...." "I feel that," you mutter. "I tend to feel bad for no reason." "Same here," he sticks his hand in his pocket, fiddling. "Like a lot of the time....  I need change of pace." He lets out a sigh. "Sorry," he chuckles, shaking his head. "I'm a little tipsy." "Happens to the most of us." You say, giving him a shrug. He looks at you, with an odd sort of adoration in his eyes. You hear cheers from inside, and look up to see fireworks popping and snapping loudly above, over the treeline, framing the sky with red and blue and gold. You turn to Tyler, about to speak, though you're not sure what you want to say. He takes in a breath, stepping toward you, not even setting his drink down he presses his lips to yours. It's kind and pleasant, rather soft for what you could've expected, and you feel warmth in your chest as his hand graces your cheek. It's sadly over before you can really, well, kiss him, and you feel a chill as he pulls back. He takes a sip of his champagne, bashful as his eyes avoid yours and his ears tint hot pink. "Happy new year," he says with a shy smile. You can't help but smile back. "You too; happy new year." You throw back the rest of your sparkling water, taking his hand.   You needed change of pace, too.

can you do a sadist tyler x reader drabble
i started on a super dark blurry + reader fic which is sorta like sadist tyler but i can do this one for now:
———————————
“you’re always so composed, you know that? you’d look so pretty tied up underneath me, crying and begging” tyler confessed to you one day. you were both having a lazy sunday in bed, and he was spooning you while you were watching a netflix horror movie marathon.
“begging you for what, hmm? and why would i be crying?” you ask, indulging him. you feel like you should be surprised, but in reality, you’re far from it. you’ve seen a certain glint in his eyes when you cut your finger chopping veggies. he cleaned your wound and wrapped it in bandage, but you could see the slightest hint of a smirk when you hissed at the sting. you also had a hunch for why horror was tyler’s favorite kind of movie. he enjoyed watching you squirm at particularly gory scenes, and jump at the jump scares. you noticed that you get super horny around your period, and a way to get his attention is to complain about your cramps. he’d ask questions about how bad it hurt, and it always ended in the most intense make-out and fuck-session. there had to be a reason for all this.
what you were surprised about was the level of arousal at his answers to your questions.
“you’d be begging for my cock, and for me to let you cum. but i wouldn’t let you. not unless you…” tyler stopped and you let out a sigh you’d been holding, swallowing hard.
“unless i what, tyler?” you asked, feeling him hardening against your ass. he kept quiet, breathing heavy.
“not unless you let me try something if i promise you’ll have a safe word” tyler said, wrapping his arm around your front and sliding his hand into your panties, sliding his fingers into your wetness.
“and judging from how wet you are, i think you’ll like it” tyler said, tone darker and giving you a head rush. he continued fingering you and he rocked his hips against your ass. you were hooked.
an hour later, tyler had you exactly where he wanted you. the safe word was “melon” and you surprisingly hadn’t thought about using it. not because what tyler was doing was too soft, but because you’d never felt more at the complete mercy to him. you were intoxicated by this side of him, and this side of yourself you didn’t know existed.
“please fuck me ty-i mean sir, please?” you beg, legs squirming as tyler slid his fingers up and down your inner thigh, teasing you. he had no emotion on his face as his fingers drew closer to your flushed, dripping pussy from his earlier ministrations that he didn’t finish. he had no intention of touching you, just studying your face and twitching body spasms. your ankles were tied to each end of the bed post, legs spread wide. your arms were tied above your head as well, which you’ve tested multiple times to free them to no avail. tyler laughed at your attempts.
“you wouldn’t escape if you tried, look at you. nothing but a little whore for me to use. if you really wanted me to stop, you’d use the safe word, right?” tyler asked. you whimpered in response, bucking your hips up.
“please” you add as his fingers lightly caress your outer lips. you squirm more, trying to get the slightest touch on your aching clit. the clamps he put on your nipples weren’t helping, making you all the more sensitive when you squirmed and your tits moved around. you’re sure you have the female version of blue balls. tyler laughs again at your attempts.
“answer my question or i can just stop playing with you altogether” tyler said, taking his hand away and pretending to look disinterested.
“okay, you’re right. i would’ve used the safe word” you said, confirming his thoughts. a mischievous grin spread on his face and he knelt between your legs. your instinct was to close them, forgetting they were tied, because you knew this meant another bout of pussy-play, slapping, and orgasm denial. your pussy couldn’t handle anymore abuse, already red and dripping with arousal. you haven’t even been penetrated yet.
“fuck, look at you. my own little…mmm.” tyler said, staring you up and down. you laid there, panting and bracing yourself for whatever lust-filled thing he had in mind. he bent forward and started eating you out, and your head spun with excitement at the direct stimulation. your legs jerked, desperately wanting to squeeze your thighs together and hold his head there. your arms jerked, wanting to comb your fingers through his fluffy dark hair and press his head down harder. you bucked your hips up, frustrated with his light, slow flicks of his tongue to your clit. it was enough to keep you on edge, but not get you to where you needed. he pulled away, smirking at your disheveled, desperate look.
“pleeeeeeease sir, please let me cummm” you begged harder than you ever had, actually sobbing. you were shocked at how far you let this go. it made completely no sense why you hadn’t said the damn word. but you knew if you did, it would be over, and tyler was loving this too much. you were loving this too much.
“so pretty, baby. so pretty for me, shhh” tyler soothed, straddling you so he could wipe your tears. he was still fully clothed and you hissed at the fabric of his shirt rubbing against your clamped nipple. your eyes closed from the praise, and when you opened them, you were staring into those dark, cold eyes. he kissed your lips and you invited his tongue in your mouth, kissing him back. it was wet, sloppy, and passionate. he moved back to kneeling between your legs and unzipped his pants, pulling out his rock hard cock that you’ve been craving. your pussy contracted at the sight and you were practically drooling.
“i think you deserve to cum now” tyler said, leaning over your body and guiding himself to your entrance. you gasped as he entered your slick heat and at how sudden you were full. your hands grasped at nothing, desperate to wrap yourself around him and get him deeper. but he did it for you, angling his hips and crashing them into you at a hard, steady pace. you were so overwhelmed with joy at finally getting what your body craved, you came uncharacteristically fast and hard, your face contorting and head tilting back as you squeezed around his cock. only then did his hips falter, slamming into you a few more jerky times before cumming inside you.
he rode out his orgasm, softly rocking into you until he softened and you relaxed around his cock. he pulled out, gently kissing your forehead, cheeks, and lips before removing the nipple clamps and untying your limbs. he held you for awhile, then you both took a bath and changed the stained sheets. replaying the events in your mind, you felt this was a side of tyler you could get used to.

best part of me ~ Tyler Joseph (song drabble)
my masterlist │ my song drabbles
song used as inspiration: jeremy renner ~ best part of me
words: 1.7K
approximate reading time: about 10-15 mins
a/n: hola, babies, here we go with the second song drabble!! i actually have to admit that it's much harder than i originally thought it would be, writing a oneshot using song lyric. but it improves your writing, your imagination and i'm more than ready for it. oh and also it's fun. i hope you enjoy reading them just as much as i do writing them. please leave feedback, i'd appreciate it more than anything. and feel free to request!!
Tumblr media
"Stop smiling at me, I keep on messing up my sentences when you look at me like that," (y/n) giggled, hiding her blushed cheeks in her palm that wasn't holding her phone.
Tyler didn't seem bothered by her request and continued staring at his own screen with a delighted and dreamy, beaming smile splitting his face.
"Please," the girl pleaded when she glanced back at him from inbetween her fingers and saw that he hadn't changed his expression.
"I can't help it, my face looks like this whenever I look at you." Tyler shrugged.
"I'm gonna end this call if you don't stop." (y/n) threatened, knowing that there wasn't any other way to achieve her goal.
"No, don't!" The young man exclaimed immediately before pressing his hand against his mouth, eyes widening, speaking the rest of his speech much quieter. "I keep on forgetting that it's the middle of the night here. The sunlight behind your back confuses my mind."
"I still don't understand how you manage to stay awake. You should be hella exhausted."
"I'm fine, I'll sleep on the tour bus. We only have travelling ahead of us all day so I'll have all the time I need," he waved his hand nonchalantly. "I wanted to catch you as soon as you get back to your hotel room."
"Well, you succeeded. I actually didn't even have the time to go and pee before my phone rang." (y/n) chuckled, shaking her head in loving disbelief.
"You can go now, if you wanna." Tyler offered. "I'll wait for you."
"It's okay, I can keep it in until the end of this call."
"Yeah? And what if we don't end it for like five hours?"
Tyler watched delightedly as the girl started laughing once more. It had always been one of the most amazing feelings when the reason behind the bubbling, angelic laughter erupting from her throat was him.
"We will," (y/n) said as soon as she calmed her breathing back down. "I won't let you stay up all night because of a stupid FaceTime call."
"It's not stupid, it's with you." Tyler argued, making the girl roll her eyes from his cheesiness. "Anyway, what are your plans for tonight?"
"Nothing special, probably watching TV in this very room, maybe I'll get a bottle of wine or something," she shrugged.
The boy felt his heart ache hearing her words. It wasn't how she should spend her birthday. It's a once in a year occasion, it should be something more special. But still, there wasn't anything they - or simply just him alone - could do. Tyler was on tour in London, (y/n) was in Los Angeles for a work meeting.
Both of them stayed in hotel rooms, but two different ones, with an 8 hour time difference and thousands of miles between them. The only way he could help her feel less alone was through this video call and he was determined to keep her company for as long as he could or as long as she wanted him to.
"I'm sorry for missing your birthday," he whispered into the silence.
Slight anger bubbled in (y/n)'s chest once more as she was reminded of the fact yet again that it indeed was her birthday that she had to spend all alone in a hotel room. Without him.
"Stop apologising, Tyler."
"But I have to. You gotta know how sorry I am."
"You saying that a million times doesn't make anything any better," she said, voice cold and emotionless as she tried hard to fight back the sudden urge to cry, her lip only slightly quivering but it was visible enough for Tyler to notice.
What are you doing?, he scolded himself in his head. All you wanted was to keep her happy and now you're making her cry.
"You don't understand, you never do!" (y/n) spoke up again. "I try to tell you this every time when you're missing out on a special day but you never seem to realise that I'm right. If you keep saying sorry, it'll only remind me over and over again, and it's just making things worse. If I don't think about it, then it's fine and I can stay happy but when you keep mentioning it, I can't shut it out and instead of being happy I'm back at being upset."
It felt good finally letting all of it out, though when she saw Tyler's eyes and the sadness and self-hate in them, all she wanted to do was to turn back time and take back everything she said. She knew he didn't want to hurt her and he was truly upset for all the anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine's days he had to miss because of touring. But he had to know that not mentioning these would make everything so much better. They could just pretend it was an ordinary day they had to spend apart.
"Do you want me to leave now?" Tyler asked quietly.
"What? No!" the girl called out with widening eyes. "Why would I want that?"
"I don't know. Maybe to get rid of my constant apologising," he shrugged.
"There's a better way for that. You promising that you'll stop it." (y/n) smiled at the screen to calm him down.
Oh, how stupid she was. She really should've thought it through in her head before letting it all out on Tyler. He took things like this so much more serious than other people. He would blame himself now for making her angry and sad. He would think she deserved someone better and distance himself.
She knew it perfectly. It already happened twice in the past year only, and both times it was her fault. She had to be more careful with what she said around the boy.
"Are you sad?" Tyler whispered after a few minutes of silence. "And answer honestly, please."
"A little bit," (y/n) whispered back.
They stared at each other intensely, the eye contact only breaking when the girl's (y/e/c) orbs got blurry with tears. She tried to blink it away but one drop escaped and rolled down her cheek, Tyler following its route with his gaze.
"Please stop crying," he spoke up. "You know how much I hate it when I can't be with you and calm you down."
(y/n) let out a faint chuckle, nodding. "I know." She reached up and with the edge of her hand, dried the skin of her face.
"I promise we'll never spend another special day apart."
"Don't promise things you can't keep," the girl shook her head.
"I'll keep this. I swear."
"It's not up to you to decide when can you be home or not when it comes to touring."
"If there's a tour in our way, you'll simply come with us," Tyler stated as if it was that simple.
"Yeah?" (y/n) chuckled again. "What about my work?"
"I'll figure it out," the boy smiled, feeling more sure now that he saw his technique to cheer the girl started to work. "Maybe you can quit it."
"Quit it? Are you crazy?" And there it was, a loud, honest laugh escaping her lips. Tyler mentally fistbumped himself in the air, feeling proud.
"It may sound crazy, but I mean it," he continued. "You could come with us, travel the world and be by my side all the time."
"Sounds amazing, but I have to work," the girl sighed.
"Why do you have to?" Tyler frowned.
"I don't know," another giggle. "I think I'd go mad if I didn't have to work. I'd be restless."
"Okay, we'll find a solution another time. But don't forget about it. Now, do you wanna watch a movie?"
"Well, yeah, that was my plan, but it can wait if you still wanna talk."
"No, do you wanna watch a movie together?"
"Together?" It was her time to frown. "How?"
"We can start it at the same time and keep the call going so we could still talk," Tyler explained, making (y/n)'s eyes light up joyously.
"That's a great idea!" she exclaimed.
"I'm glad you like it."
Tyler never felt more glad that he chose to check a website listing things couples could do through FaceTime as a some kind of date.

"You can't keep doing this," Tyler groaned when he saw (y/n) slowly stroll around, obviously keeping him waiting on purpose.
They just arrived back home and he felt he couldn't take not hugging her anymore, it was torturous enough to control himself at the airport where he wanted to quit anything that would catch the fan's eyes and would be posted all across the internet. He wanted to keep his relationship as private as he could manage, protecting her at all costs.
But now they were in the safety of their house where no one could see them, and (y/n) seemingly played the game she often did in similar situations.
"This is all your fault! You made me do this in the first place!" she exclaimed back giddily, sidetracking from his reaching arms.
"It was only one time!" Tyler protested, throwing his hands up in the air. "And you're doing it for the hundredth time."
"I know, but I enjoy it too much. That pouting look on your face is worth everything," she giggled.
"I really need a hug right now, (y/n)."
"You're scaring me," the mentioned girl widened her eyes in fake worry.
"Don't argue. Just do it," he opened his arms wider, standing in one place waiting.
They played this cat-and-mouse game for a minute or two before (y/n) finally gave in and leisurely strolled over.
"You're so weird," he shook his head in disbelief, finally being able to wrap his arms around his love.
"You have no idea," she grinned at him before burying her face in his chest and deeply inhaling his oh so loved scent.
They slightly swayed side to side, clinging into the other as they were finally able to feel the other in real life again after so many days, such long weeks of distance.
"I love you so much," Tyler whispered in her hair. "You're the best part of me."

Finally, Enough
Summary: Tyler supports you in a moment of anger and heartache Pairing: Tyler x Reader (Platonic) Word Count: 885 Warnings: Angst, minor cursing, breaking of dishes. Square Filled: In the Rough - Anna Nalick; @bandombingo
Tumblr media
You were at your apartment, in a very heated Phase 10 match with your best friend, Tyler, when your on-again-off-again (currently off) boyfriend knocked on your door. You set your cards down, made Tyler promise not to peek, then made to answer the door.
“What are you doing here?”
Dan shrugged. “I thought about what you said when we called it quits this last time, and you’re right. I was stupid not to take you and our relationship more seriously.”
You crossed your arms over your chest. “And?”
“And what, Y/N?” he frowned. “I mean … I sent you all those letters. Did you get them? Did you read them?”
“Yeah, I have them, but I didn’t open them. What’s the point? You said it yourself, that you’re better off on your own. And you know what? So am I. I’ve been so happy lately! Happier than I ever thought I could be when I was with you.”
He made to step inside the apartment, but a look over your shoulder made him step back; he must have seen Tyler sitting at the coffee table, waiting for you to return to the game. You could only imagine what kind of glaring look Tyler was throwing at Dan.
“I wasn’t enough for you before, and I have nothing more to offer you than I did before. I have nothing left to give to you. Someday, what I do have to offer someone is going to be more than enough.” You shook your head. “I wish I could feel bad for you, Dan, I really do.”
With that, you closed the door and locked both the deadbolt and the knob. You had no suspicions that Dan would try anything funny, but maybe hearing the locks turn would be the final note to let him know you were truly done and over it.
Plopping back down to the floor, you buried your head in your hands. You were done with Dan, yes, but that didn’t mean you weren’t overwhelmed by his sudden and uninvited presence in your life.
“Three times,” you muttered, “Dan and I tried three times, and each one ended the same way. Damn! I’m such an idiot!”
“Hey, you’re not an idiot,” Tyler assured, reaching across the table to take one of your hands. You looked up at him. “It’s partly my fault, you know. I set you guys up when we were touring with his band.”
“Meh, you didn’t know he’d turn out to be such a jerk.” You picked your cards back up but promptly threw them back on the table and stood to pace the floor. “Why is he like this? What makes him think that I’m so weak I’d go for his bullshit a fourth time? I mean, three isn’t exactly ideal, but — but —”
You let out a loud, growling groan of frustration and stormed off to your room. You fished what you were looking for from the top of your dresser and went back to Tyler. Snapping the rubber band that secured the stack of letters, you tossed them in the air. The pages flew into a flurry before slowly falling to the floor, scattered over the worn carpet. When tossing Dan’s letters around like a tornado had come through wasn’t enough, you went for the kitchen and pulled one of the mugs he had bought for you from the cupboard. You held it in your hands for a moment, remembering the pretty rose that had been set inside when he gave it to you. There hadn’t been all bad moments with Dan — but the good moments were so few in comparison to the bad.
“Fuck it.”
The ceramic mug shattered into a mosaic of different sized pieces on the linoleum floor.  A certain amount of relief began to lift the tension from your chest, so you grabbed another mug that didn’t matter much and threw it down, too. For good measure, you added the plate Dan had always chosen to eat off of, for whatever reason, when he was at your place.
When you looked up, Tyler was standing next to the table, his brow raised. “You okay?”
You nodded. “I just really needed to break something. A few things, apparently.”
“Okay, that’s fair. But maybe now we clean it up before you step on any of it in your bare feet?”
Tears pricked at your eyes. You sniffled in a vain attempt to keep them from falling. “Yeah, probably a good idea.”
Tyler held out a hand to help you step carefully over the broken pieces; as soon as you were in a clean, safe area, you threw your arms around his neck. As a good best friend would do, Tyler hugged you back around your waist, even tighter than you were holding on to him.
“I’m gonna be all right, right? I’m not gonna die alone?”
“No, Y/N,” Tyler promised, “you’re not gonna die alone. People like you — good people — are never alone.”
You nodded against his shoulder, closing your eyes while the tears of hurt and anger and frustration passed. When you were able to compose your self, you released Tyler. He asked again if you were okay, and you assured him that you were.
“Better than okay.”
And then, you smiled.

“What is he doing?” Tyler asked.
You followed his gaze to where your cat was playing on the rug, tossing a toy around for himself. A smile graced your lips at the sight of it.
“He’s playing, Ty.”
“Is that what that is?”
You sighed. It was no secret that Tyler wasn’t particularly fond of your newly adopted cat, despite the numerous times he had been over to your apartment since you had adopted him. Not even the fact that the cat was named after one of his songs - Nico - was enough to make him warm up even the tiniest bit. Tonight was the first night that Tyler was spending at your apartment since you had gotten him, and you were hoping that this might finally be the breakthrough that the two of them needed to bond.
“He’s really sweet, you just need to warm up to him.”
Tyler leaned back into the couch and crossed his arms, sticking out his bottom lip for added show. It was the adult equivalent of a toddler’s temper tantrum.
“I don’t have to warm up to anyone, even if that someone is a cat.”
“Ty, he’s going to be around for another thirteen years. If you don’t like him, we may as well break up now,” you said, making sure to add a joking tone to your voice.
“No, please,” Tyler leaned towards you and rested his head on your upright knees. “I love you.”
You leaned in to meet him, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. His hair tickled your nose. “You need to learn to love Nico too.”
“But you deserve all of my love.”
Tyler gently started to push your knees apart so he could move in and hover over you, wasting no time in planting his lips properly against yours. You smiled and grabbed onto him, pulling his body closer to yours. His lips tasted like chapstick.
His hand had just started to fiddle with the bottom of your shirt when he suddenly stopped and pulled away, muttering profanities. He whipped around to look at his feet, eyebrows furrowed. Confused, you leaned around him only to see Nico had gotten up on the couch and started playing with Tyler’s foot, batting his paws against it and giving it tiny little bites.
“Nico,” he whispered, gently wiggling his foot. “I’m in the middle of something.”
“He’s just trying to play with you!”
“He won’t get off my foot!”
With a sigh, you slowly slid out from under Tyler - much to his dismay - and grabbed Nico, double checking that he didn’t still have one claw sunk into Tyler’s skin before you pulled him away. You wrapped him up in your arms like a baby and kissed his soft little forehead.
“I think he’s jealous that I get all of your love and he doesn’t get any,” you cooed.
“It’s hard to love him when he attacks my foot.”
“That’s part of owning a cat, Ty.”
You let go of Nico and he hopped back down onto the couch. Tyler instinctively pulled his feet up under him, a place where the cat wouldn’t be able to reach them.
“I know that deep down in your heart somewhere, you want to love him,” you said as you sat back down on the couch. Tyler held an arm out and you curled up next to him, pressing a quick kiss to his shoulder before leaning on it.
“I don’t know about that.”
You both looked at Nico, who had gone back to playing with his own toys on the carpet now that there was no interrupting to be done. It was frustrating that Tyler was so resistant about trying to like him.
“Is it alright if I go shower?” Tyler asked.
“Go for it, and enjoy my coconut shampoo.”
“I will.”
Tyler gave you a lingering kiss before finally getting up and walking down the hall towards your bedroom. With him gone, you stretched out on the couch and grabbed your phone from the coffee table to kill the time until he got back. Nico, upon realizing that Tyler had left, followed him down the hall to investigate.
“Y/N!” Tyler called out, obviously panicked. The shower hadn’t even started running yet.
“What?”
“Help!”
You kicked your legs off the couch and quickly walked down the hall to your bedroom, wondering what trouble Nico or Tyler had managed to get into. When you arrived in the bedroom, you immediately took notice of the problem. Nico was running between the bathroom and your bedroom door, occasionally swatting at Tyler’s feet as he went. Tyler, who was standing just inside the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his hips, wasn’t letting his eyes leave Nico’s little body.
“What is he doing?” he said, flinching a little as he ran past again.
“He does this whenever I get in the shower,” you shrugged. “He just gets excited by the bathroom, for whatever reason. At night, he sits on my bed and watches me brush my teeth.”
“Every night?”
“Yeah, it’s kind of like a little routine we have.”
“It doesn’t freak you out?” Tyler finally looked at you and raised an eyebrow.
“No, it’s kind of comforting to have him there. It’s kind of like when you sit on the bathroom counter when I get ready for bed.”
For the first time all night, Tyler seemed the tiniest bit open to the idea of trying to like Nico. His expression had softened considerably from when you had first walked in the room.
“I don’t want him in here when I shower though.”
“I’ll take him back out to the living room, don’t worry.”
“Thank you.”
After giving Tyler a quick kiss - and maybe taking a moment or two to admire him - you finally scooped Nico up and carried him back out to the living room. You also made sure to close the bedroom door so he wouldn’t go running back in there to terrorize Tyler as soon as he had the chance. The goal was to get Tyler to like Nico, not be even more scared of him.
Tumblr media
After the whole shower incident between Nico and Tyler was cleared up, the rest of the night went by pretty smoothly. Nico cuddled in your lap while you and Tyler watched movies, and Tyler was even brave enough to reach over and give Nico a couple pets while he slept. In your eyes, it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
“Where does Nico sleep?” Tyler asked as he slid under the covers on your bed.
“With me,” you answered, doing the same. “He likes to curl up near my legs at first, but he moves around.”
“So I shouldn’t be concerned if I feel something walking over my stomach in the middle of the night?”
“As long as it only has four legs, then you’re fine.”
“Noted.”
You scooted over and rested your head on Tyler’s shoulder, adjusting a few times until you felt comfortable enough to fall asleep. Tyler’s arm curled around you and rested comfortably on your hip. As for Nico, he was still sitting on your dresser and waiting for everyone to get settled, as he did every night.
“You know, it was kind of nice to have Nico sitting on the bed while we brushed our teeth,” Tyler said quietly.
You leaned back to get a better look at him, even though it was hard in the dim light of your bedroom.
“Did those words really just come out of your mouth?” you gasped.
He laughed, “Yes, but I won’t be repeating them.”
“That’s ok, I’ve already committed them to memory.”
“I like him a lot better when he’s not running around and biting my feet.”
As if he knew you were talking about him, Nico finally jumped down from the dresser and made his way across the room to your bed. He explored the covers for a little while until eventually settling in the space between you and Tyler.
“And he’s warm too,” Tyler whispered.
“Like a little space heater.”
You could have sworn that you saw Tyler reach out and give Nico a couple scratches, but you decided not to comment on it. It was enough for you to know that the bond between your cat and your boyfriend was growing.
“He’ll take some getting used to, but he’s not so bad.”
“Just like you,” you laughed.
“Hey! You were in to me from the start.”
“But you did take some getting used to.”
“Alright, fine,” Tyler sighed. “I can understand that.”
“So, does Nico get a little bit of your love now?”
“I don’t think we’re there yet. I still love you too much.”
“I love you too, Ty.”
He pressed a gentle kiss to your head and you finally went back to your original sleeping position, already feeling the exhaustion of the day starting to set in. With Nico and Tyler right next to you, it felt like the safest place in the world.
You were asleep within minutes.
