Oblivion Remastered vs. Persona 3 Reloaded

Why am I comparing these titles? They are completely different genres.
Both of them are remasters of 2006 titles that came out for the price of full fledged new games.

Persona 3 reloaded is a complete overhaul of Persona 3. The story and dialogue is the same but it's all been re-recorded, and the game has been built from the ground up brand new. A lot of things are different from the original ps2 games. It's stylish and pretty and feels much like Persona 5.

Oblivion Remastered seems like a remake of the game in Unreal Engine 5. It's extremely faithful to the game you can get for a few bucks on Steam.
Therefore Persona 3 Reloaded probably has a much lower profit margin compared to Oblivion Remastered. It's probably not taken them a great deal of time and energy to build, but releasing it as a full priced game.
However there are some elements where the Oblivion game does prove to be better value for money than P3 Reloaded.
Primarily, it maintains all of the jank of the original Oblivion. I don't know about mod compatibility, and yes it'll be harder to develop mods for Unreal 5, but there'll definitely be some, and all the core GAMEPLAY seems to be untouched. The UI is different though. I think they changed it because it would take ages to load into the menu if it worked like the original, so it's for the best.

It also has two expansions included in the BASE price.
I mean. There's a deluxe edition. But other than just the shitty horse armor, the deluxe also contains a soundtrack, which I think already makes up the value of £10 they are charging for it.

Persona 3 Reloaded took half a year to release The Answer, which was included in the base game of P3 Fes. It doesn't have the weapons systems present in most versions of Persona 3. It doesn't have the female character option P3 Portable.
I haven't got enough data to compare directly with Oblivion yet but a lot of the 2d animations that made Persona 3 special have been heavily altered, turned into cgi, or in at least one case removed outright and replaced with low quality ingame cutscenes. The music is also different, much cleaner, which is antithetical to P3's dirty soundtrack.
Most egregiously, The Answer, which again was included in P3 Fes, has been renamed "Episode: Aigis" and is now ONLY available if you buy the £29 Expansion pass!!!
The DLC contains a bunch of skins that if bought individually would have a pretty high value, so that makes the expansion actually good value for money..... Right????
So you can buy all the skins that are in the expansion pass separately, but you can't buy the DLC separately. Strange!
Hmm I wonder what incentive Atlus would have to do that? Would it be that they want to add fake value to the expansion so that they can justify forcing anyone who wants to play Episode Aigis to throw out over half of the game's base cost? Because now it costs a total of £90! £90!!! to play the full remake of a game that came out in 2007.
Also you still can't listen to the ost that is supposed to be in the expansion pass without using some in game app... I've still been unable to get a good copy of the Reloaded OST. Half the original p3 soundtrack is better though so it's not a big loss.

Not sure where to ask this, so im posting here as well as some forums BUT:
Basically I really love using Figma for making interactive menus. I have used Figma for mocking up websites and mobile apps before at my job, and in my odd time I’ve taken to using figma to prototype and make sketches of things like UI and flowcharts for the game my friends and I are developing. And even more recently I prototyped a fully custom, nice-looking, interactive character sheet for my character in the current campaign im playing.
Now, It’s got me thinking: I would really, really love to build custom character sheets for people as a side job as its something i genuinely enjoy doing. But the problem is, figma will not exist forever and I have foreseen that it might be a pain to build someone a prototype and I am the sole person to make updates whenever their character levels, they get new gear etc and I don’t really like the idea of forcing people to make an account for a tool they wont want to learn or use outside of the prototype i send them. Additionally, Figma prototype is ultimately not ideal for more distinguished and specific character sheets as I’d like for it to be.
For example, I would love to make buttons that a user can tap to mark how many death saves they have succeeded or failed, I want the user to be able to mark for inspiration and conditions, etc. I know I could possibly feasibly make it work all inside one scrollable frame, but the way I prefer to set up the character sheets requires navigating to different frames with buttons.
What other good alternatives are there? I like to make these character sheets for mobile use (phones and tablets) so should I jump to app development? I don’t mind learning new or more complicated softwares, just as long as the software is free, there’s a free trial long enough for me to learn the gist of the software, a single larger purchase for a license for a good amount of features, or the cost for subscription is low. Is Godot a good software to use for this? My team is learning godot anyway for our game as we were discouraged from Unreal Engine.

Hi there! I'm a twine game developer and I noticed you'd converted your games to be used on Steam and the Google Play store. I'd love to ask a few questions about this, if that's okay? 1. What tools/methods did you use to convert your Twine game to APK? Did you come across any limits with file sizes and game dependencies? e.g. Images pushing you over the 100mb limit? 2. As above, but what tools/methods did you use to get Twine into an executable for Steam? Were there any hiccups here? 3. If you had to make a text-based game with gamified elements and graphics (and you wanted it on Steam/Android, and to retain screen reader capabilities) would you do it in Twine again, or would you use another engine or solution such as Ren'py, Godot, Unreal, etc? Thank you so much for your time!
Hi.
Under the cut, you'll find a list of videos and links that helped me put the game on Steam and Android.
Feel free to ask any questions as you go through the process—some steps aren't detailed here, as a few things currently escape my memory.
To be able to publish your game on Steam, Google Play, or Apple store, you need to create an account.
Follow the steps on this video to create an account on Steam:
youtube
Or this one:
youtube
This is the Steam work page to start:
Follow this step for google Play
youtube
Twine game needs to be repacked as app before you can publish them.
To repack your Twine games, use these steps:
For Google, you'll need an Android repacker. You can use this one below: (This site is not free)
Here is how to use it (Skip to 3:01 minutes)
youtube
For point #1, I had no issues with size or image limit. Steam does give you different ways to upload depending on the size of your game.
For point #2, there will be hiccups and errors when you try to complete this checklist on Steam, but again, watch the videos and send some questions my way, I'll help as much as I can.
For point #3, I have no idea about the Screen Reader part. I know Twine is good for it, but personally, I don't plan on using Twine any longer, I'm moving to Renpy because it's are easier for me as of now.
Side note: Be sure to watch even more videos than those listed and don't hesitate to do additional research on Google whenever you feel stuck. Most questions and answers are already out there, so a quick search can often point you in the right direction.
If you still need help, feel free to send your questions my way!

Mission on: the river

Three dimensional scene for today based on videogame River Raid. It was such a game from reflexive. And that was simple three dimensional arcades. Also including little airplane. So it fly there. It shoots. Along the river. A little to the left and to the right.

And this is my 3d scene based on River Raid (Reflexive). You are flying along the river. And this is also simple arcade. From age of first three dimensional games. And first three dimensional accelerators. I like how these games looks. It is some unique visual. For example game Turok (NightDive studios).

And you are flying here with avenger. And shooting. With a machinegun. Or rockets. Lets it be machineguns for more simple version. And enemies – only ships. With guns. They can see you from some distance and shoot at you. And you have some amount of life. So several hits you can survive. And I am for myself, I am not a fan of hard games. So I like to play games with weekend. So I don’t want to make hard game. Simple for relax and free time.

You has fly from nearest base. And it is located along the river. Enemies ships are in the river. And there are lots of them. You are flying along the river. And destroy them. With your machineguns. Mission starts.

Simple arcade. Now, it is only three dimensional scene with Blender. But as soon as I learn some simplest engine 3d graphics. But not Unity, and not Unreal and not Godot. So I could to do these games! I like little games!

in the modern day i think it's genuinely fucking inexcusable to not have linux versions of apps.
GTK supports linux and has since the beginning
Qt, and wxWidgets is completely cross platform and has been for over 30 years
.NET has supported linux since 2016, with dotnet 8 allowing win32 resources to be compiled on non-windows platforms, and Avalonia is a new replacement for WPF with not much fuss to switch over, and while it's not fully better it's getting there.
Fucking even Electron is cross platform.
For games:
OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX, OptiX, all work on linux
Unity games can be made to run on linux. Unreal engine games can be made to run on linux despite tim sweeny's shitass. Godot games can be made to run on linux.
id Tech, GoldSrc, Build engine, Source, Source 2, GameMaker Studio, Java, Pygame, Ren'Py, RPG Maker, all work to make linux games

Millie Snowfall: Meet The Team
Millie Snowfall is a game development start-up based in Australia! We're a small team, currently expending while we work on our first commercial title, NONEWORLD!
Meet the creatives and developers working to bring you something truly special.
MILLIE O'SULLIVAN 🇦🇺
she/her - game developer, artist, musician, bunny
"Hey, I'm Millie but you may call me Mils. I'm a game designer, artist, writer and musician. Even as a young kid playing Age of Empires on Windows 95, I've always been fascinated by digital technology.
I started developing Source engine mods as a young teen, soon moved to Unreal Engine and other 3D engines. It really didn't take long for me to find my footing thanks to my mentors in the industry.
Since 2023, I've been developing NONEWORLD, and now building my first startup, Millie Snowfall. It's an exciting time to be an indie developer, and having such a passionate team of creatives behind me is even more special."
GRACEN CROZIER 🇺🇸
he/him - digital artist, animator, voice actor
"Hello! I'm Gracen, a 23 year old nonbinary voice actor, digital artist, and game developer. Over the past few years, I've had the pleasure of collaborating with a diverse range of clients in the freelance world, adding my unique vision to various projects.
I was originally introduced to NONEWORLD through Fiverr, doing in-game voice work for Millie. I've since become an animator on the project and I'm excited to see it through!"
HAZEL DOYE 🇦🇺
she/her - producer, business dev, programmer
"Hi! My name is Hazel and I've been a programmer since 2013. Throughout my career I have developed industrial machinery, VR/AR technology, mobile apps and video games.
My favourite games are strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics. I am excited to be a part of NONEWORLD and can't wait to see it released."
GIANFRANCO DEPA 🇮🇹
he/him - pixel artist, concept artist
"My name is Gianfrando De Pascale, but I prefer to be called Depa. I have been a pixel artist since 2020 and my career path has always been driven by my passion for video games. I studied art since I was 6 years old starting as a self-taught, I enrolled in art school and immediately after, at 19 I attended a specialization course in concept art.
I learned about this project through Millie on Fiverr last year, since then there has been a willingness for both of us to continue with its realization. Speaking of my preferences in terms of video games, my favorite genre is Roguelite, but I also really appreciate Action, RPG and TCG.
I don't hide that one day I will consider myself complete when I have made my Roguelite and/or TCG game in my career."
ELLE MATHERS 🇦🇺
she/her - voice actor, quality assurance, kitty cat
"Hi! I'm Elle and I was initially brought onboard as a voice actress for NONEWORLD through Fiverr. After taking interest in the project and being a game developer myself, I became close friends with Millie.
Due to classes and other obligations I couldn't take any major roles in the game's development, but still wanted to help lower the workload for Millie and take on a bit of that for myself.
I have a lot of faith in the project, the concept is really unique and everything just has this novel flavour to it that is quite refreshing!"
But that's it, for now.
You can follow us on Bluesky to stay updated on all the latest, or alternatively, join our Discord community!
Thank you for reading. -M

I haven't seen anything on tumblr about this (it could just be because I don't follow that many people) but here's a video on how the Unity pay-per-install thing resolved:
youtube
Cliff notes:
Unity privately offered to waive this ridiculous fee if developers switched from using a certain popular app analytics company for their own internal (shittier) system, revealing that at least part of this was about creating a monopoly
That app analytics company released a free AI tool to convert your Unity game into an Unreal Engine game, and many people used it and ditched Unity
Unity walked back all of the new changes, but nobody with any sense is going to trust them not to reinstate the pay-per-install fee without a legally binding promise
Unity actually deleted the TOSes of earlier versions of their software from github in preparation for making their announcement that TOS changes would be retroactive and are now backpedalling about that too
There's some chance that the EU may decide that inflicting retroactive TOS changes like this is actually illegal as a result of this
What's interesting to me here is that AI is mainly making news on tumblr for being used to profit capitalist corporations and suppress workers' rights, but here, it looks like the thing that actually turned the tide and hurt Unity's bottom line enough that they walked back on their greedy capitalist scheme was, in fact, an AI tool. I'm just putting this out there as an example of how AI is just a tool, it can be used for evil, but it can also be used for good (or neutral) purposes. A tool, by itself, is not inherently good or evil until it's been put to a purpose.

I passed my exam :D And now I want to share here my experience!
Currently I'm studying in the University on game design program. In this term we were learning 3D modeling and creating 3D graphics for our games(they not working yet, we will be learning Unreal Engine in coming term)
So yeah, I started to dive into Blender since end of January and until now. Here some render from my project! I really like how It end up, even if I didn't use every character (plush toy) model in the end because my time management is suck, but it still was good experience, so I don't regret making any of them.

Of course I met a lot, and I mean A LOT of stressful moments during this project, most incredible bugs and crushes that made me want to scream (and my teacher too, because every time I bringher my blender file, we would sit nit less than an hour to fix everything hahahah). Like, in the middle of this term my island decided that he don't want to work anymore, so I was forced to do it from the start....yeah...
There also some pictures from early stages of my project. I just like to look at them and see how many work I've done. I really proud of what I was able to achieve! (LIKE I STARTED TO USE SOME NODES WITHIUT TUTORIALS IT'S CRAZY!!!)

This Is most beautiful crush that happened to me, but it appears it was probably some add-ons arguing with textures.

And this...is just funny.

I'm glad that now I have more free time. I'm planning to continue to dive into blender, try to model something for myself and my friends, model a human and just look into sculpting, so I can do more detailed models.
Thank you if you read until now! I'm really glad I can finally share more of my passions on this app!! I hope to post more models and Hogwarts related content in the future.🤭

lace's Project List TM:
i keep poking at radiant historia perfect chronology to try and rip sprites/art from it, but i think it's just above my skillset :') i've come at it from many angles and i just can't get the files converted/open - may require me to learn more about decrypting etc. not giving up altogether but not happening anytime soon. might try and see if i can crack open the original instead and see if i can get stuff out of there. also want to try cracking open a more mainstream 3ds game (something really basic and frequently modded) just to check if i can get in there at all. would love to be able to 3ds rip but nintendo consoles unsurprisingly hard to get into
cotc going good though. there's still a few things i'm struggling to find in the files (namely triangle strategy npcs like benedict and the character splash art) but i've hunted down almost everything i really wanted and it's just a matter of organizing and figuring out what's what and putting sheets together for submission. i hope i can get my hands on more updates later on but. for now i'll just pry everything i can out of this may 2024 version lol.
bd2 asset uploading remains on indefinite hiatus until sr approves the game as a category. figure it makes sense to work on cotc first since i can like. actually upload as i go (and as much as i love bd2 and the assets, hd-2d sprites are cooler than 3d game UI stuff.) i also still wanna play with animating the models in there more but not a priority. want to learn how to rip steam games with other engines too, since rn it's just unreal that i know
but i also wanna play with modding 3ds games (namely smash, mk7, the other basics) and installing fun stuff in there. i've really only modded my fe games so far. but the 3ds is so easy to play with now...
i'm hoping maybe the switch will end up like the 3ds once [next nintendo console] is out and it'll be more hackable and easy and safe to do so, because that would be so fun, but i'm also not getting my hopes up too high bc my understanding is the wii u is still kind of a pain to get going (and the switch is such a finicky little thing). still. dreams
this computer's ability to handle emulators is veryyyy limited but at some point i might embark on a journey to at least TRY and get a na and/or jp android running so i can try and get my hands on more current app updates. not counting on it though :') will probably need to get a new computer within the next year but for now old girl's limping along and she's FINE okay. want to expand my programming and tech knowledge in general in any ways i can, which is hard bc it is definitely not something that comes naturally to me, but i'm trying
but yeah that's what i'm up to. and make time to draw and crochet and actually like play my games (dreamlight valley tiana update tomorrow...)
(and work and chores and life and shit)

Steam is an incredibly garbage and unstable app so I think Epic Games deserves a shout-out for making something noticeably worse in almost every way. How do you challenge a shitty WebView app with unstable downloads and a bad UI? By making a WebView app running with Unreal Engine and all the associated bloat with no dedicated UI system and actually never using any of the OS-provided libraries meaning you don't actually comply with any standards! Good job Epic, even when you literally couldn't fuck it up more you still manage to find a little crevice of stupidity to dig yourself in. I hope the new 20GB Bloat Update you're adding to Fortnite pays off.

GAME: WUTHERING WAVES
DEVELOPER(S): Kuro Games (A private Chinese video game development and publishing company founded in 2017. In addition to games, the company has created various products such as animated series, novels, comics, music, and merchandise like figure).
ENGINE: Unreal Engine 4
PLATFORMS: iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows, macOS
RELEASED: iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows (May 22, 2024)
GENRE(S): Action role-playing, Gacha Game
• SUMMARY
Being an open world gacha game, Wuthering Waves has been compared to other titles such as Genshin Impact, but aims to emphasize combat more than its predecessors.
• SYNOPSIS
Wuthering Waves is set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world after a catastrophe called the Lament wiped out most of humanity and caused unknown beings and monsters, called Tacet Discords, to appear. Humanity adapted to the threat and over time rebuilt civilization. The story follows the amnesiac Rover, who has awoken from a deep slumber and sets out to explore this new world.
• GAMEPLAY
Wuthering Waves is set in an open world. The player controls protagonist the Rover, as well as recruited units called Resonators, which are split into 4-star and 5-star rarities. The endgame content features modes where characters can be used in a series of combat challenges.
The game's combat system features Intro and Outro skills, Intro skills are triggered when the characters enters the combat mode and Outro skills are triggered when the characters leaves the combat mode. Both skills are triggered when the characters are switched.
The game's gacha system features banners known as Convenes, where Resonators and weapons can be obtained. There are three types of Convenes: novice, event, and standard. A pity system guarantees that 5-star items are obtained within a set amount of pulls.
The game features Echoes, an ability that transforms characters into monsters briefly or summons monsters briefly.
• DEVELOPMENT
Wuthering Waves was revealed on May 23, 2022 on Kuro Games' social media accounts. It was announced for iOS on March 25, 2024.
The game underwent two closed beta tests, with the second concluding in March 2024. After the first closed beta test, the story content was largely reworked in response to player feedback that it felt "uncomfortable".
On March 29, 2024, it was announced that Wuthering Waves was to be released on iOS, Android, and PC via the Epic Games Store, on May 22, 2024.[8] In May 2024, it was announced that Wuthering Waves will be released through the Mac App Store in the future.
• FINAL THOUGHTS
Myself and a close friend are currently playing through the game so we can engage in the multiplayer together. The only reason I’m aware of this game is because of them. I didn’t finish or get far through Genshin Impact, but this game caught my attention and I’ll say, while their is quite a bit of dialogue to get through- this game is definitely fun and there’s quite A LOT to do within this game as it is open world. I’ll probably update this when I finish, but for now it’s a go in my books.

Dear Com Infinitycow Eplay (Interesting name, by the way),
I appreciate your thoughtful and meaningful question. And of such, I think it would be rude of me to not acknowledge it. Now, I am unsure of what business Play Google Com is, and am thus, unfortunately, unable to provide details about their storefront's apps. It is quite surprising to me that Google has released yet another side business, which, give or take, may or may not be illegal on account of building monopoly that may take more sales percentage in the economy, even though they technically already do that. But if I had to guess, I would say that perhaps this is better sufficed to ask the store managers and clerks rather than to ask this random dude on the internet. On the other hand, I am quite knowledgeable about the apps on Google Play, and the apps there are mostly created by several different kinds of developers. Apps might be developed on such languages like Cobalt, C#, and Python, but they may also be developed on software which have mobile game compatibility like Unity, Godot, and maybe even Unreal Engine (don't quote me on that though). In any case, there are quite a lot of different categories, some of which are Adventure, Puzzle, Platformer, etc. There may be other apps which are NOT categorized as games, but again, this is what I know of the Google Play Application. Thank you again, Com, for this delightful gouging of my brain informations.
Yours truly with love, ~<3
