I think more people should go back and either replay or rewatch (.... or forbid, play or watch them for the first time) aa1, even if it's literally only case 1

fanon phoenix is so completely disconnected from the actual character that at this point they basically share a wacky hairstyle and a name to me. In the actual games, Phoenix is almost always depicted as the "straight man", even in comparison to Edgeworth: he's somber, dry, sarcastic, and often very tired of shenanigans and bullshit. He's a very ordinary "everyman", and that's like 80% of his appeal to me, tbh. It's not to say that he can't be silly or nonserious, but we have a unique look at the inside of his head and all the things he COULD say, but most likely does not.

He goes on to become a literal world renowned defense attorney, and so many people want to boil him down to a silly stupid little rabbit of a guy when he's anything but

#yes this is about the polls #I guess this particularly irks me because before I replayed the games for the first time in a decade+#I'd fallen for a bit of fanon phoenix as well #and it really surprised me to revisit ace attorney as a fully grown adult (instead of being barely an adult)#and to see how somber and reserved phoenix really is #it's not even strictly a trilogy thing either he acts the same in aa4 #if anything his “worst” qualities are amplified and he very frequently goes mask off about being pessimistic and balefully sarcastic #I guess to sum it up #phoenix is an interesting character and it makes me sad to see him reduced to a gag bit that's basically used to prop up other characters #obviously I fully support people playing with interpretations #what is fandom if not to play pretend with our dollies #but I feel like they're really missing out by not paying attention to what actually IS there

I am permanently stepping back from all delusional people (mostly extended family) in my life. I don’t want to debate with them, my energy is better spent elsewhere.

From this point forward I will counter anyone who makes a statement about this traitor’s great character, especially when it’s based on staged events any fool could see are for photo ops only. No way to polish this turd, nope not having it. 💩💩💩💩

OMG, I’m really disappointed with some of the folks, I never wanted to believe they were this stupid. I refuse to pretend it’s ok. Not a matter of politics at this point, it’s a chasm between polar opposite personal values and worldviews.

Don't know how I feel about the way some people point to Jack's powers to refute the existence of abusive parent/child power dynamics in which he is the victim since canonically, Jack having powers that he doesn't understand and doesn't know how to control, combined with his naivete, is like...one of the main things that makes him susceptible to abuse in the first place.

#the people in his life either thought he was evil and wanted to kill him or they thought he was powerful so they wanted to use him or they #genuinely cared about and wanted to help him but did so in fundamentally flawed ways which had amplified effects because of the nature of #who jack is and his powers. it all comes back to that and jack canonically struggles with self worth issues and sh BECAUSE of his powers #“he COULD kill everyone if he really wanted to” just isnt a convincing argument to me #because again. in canon he did actually lash out once and then he was betrayed by the people who were supposed to guide and protect him #and yeah im all for morally gray jack who's responsible for his actions but thats not mutually exclusive with being an abuse victim #supernatural #jack kline #tw abuse

ULTRA EGO EXPLAINED

"Wagamamma Gokui" A.K.A. "Ultra Ego." A form that Vegeta says isn't to be compared to Goku's Ultra Instinct, but ironically he still compares and gives it a similar name.

But, what are the abilities of Ultra Ego? Well, many fans say that it gives Vegeta...

The ability to use Hakai energy at a God of Destruction level.

The ability to get stronger from taking damage.

Even though the DBS manga illustrates that Vegeta gets stronger from taking damage when in his Ultra Ego transformation, Ultra Ego DOES NOT give Vegeta the ability to turn damage into fuel. How bold of me to disagree with what is said and shown to the reader!! Well... I have my reasons.

TLDR; Ultra Ego is actually the amplification of your natural abilities & personality along with the ability to use God of Destruction power to a higher degree.

To fully understand my reasoning, let's look at Vegeta's abilities & Ultra Ego's "abilities."

SAIYAN ABILITIES vs ULTRA EGO

VEGETA:

"SAIYAN-POWER": Vegeta gets stronger from taking damage due to the innate Saiyan ability to get stronger during battle. And the thrill of combat is what Saiyans live for.

ULTRA EGO:

"BATTLE SOUL": While taking damage in this transformed state, Vegeta grows stronger due to his so-called "battle soul" burning hot. And as a Saiyan, the thrill of combat is what he lives for.

VEGETA:

HAKAI TECHNIQUE: Vegeta learned how to use Hakai energy from Beerus.

ULTRA EGO:

HAKAI TECHNIQUE: While in this transformed state, Vegeta is granted greater power to create stronger Hakai attacks that he could not perform prior to this God of Destruction transformation.

VEGETA:

ATTITUDE: Arrogant.

ULTRA EGO:

ATTITUDE: Egomaniac.

Now, what I stated at the begining is making sense. Saiyans already get stronger from taking damage & Vegeta can use the Hakai technique in his base form. Ultra Ego is meant to greatly amplify what Vegeta can naturally do & has learned.

Furthermore, we can examine the traits of another mortal who used a God of Destruction transformation; Toppo from the DBS Anime Continuity.

THE POWER OF A GOD OF DESTRUCTION

TOPPO

VEGETA

Ultra Ego is simply a God of Destruction transformation that alters the appearance, greatly amplifies power & natural abilities, & allows the user to use GoD level Hakai attacks.

It's literally the same type of power as Toppo's Hakaishin form from the DBS Anime Continuity, except Anime Toppo & Manga Vegeta use Hakai abilities differently. The manga decides to shift focus soley on a single type of Hakai attack; the "explosive" Hakai. But there are other Hakai techniques performed in both the anime continuity & manga continuity; Explosive, Sand, Disenigration.

TO SUMMARIZE:

WHAT IS ULTRA EGO?

Obviously, Ultra Ego is simply God of Destruction power just as the title for DBS Chapter 75 informs us. Vegeta just makes up a name for the power on the fly.

WHAT DOES GOD OF DESTRUCTION POWER DO?

Beerus taught Vegeta that GoD power is unbounded. Meaning "Ultra Ego" is a type of limit-breaking power. Similarly, the limit-breaking power of SSBE is referred to as "boundless energy."

However, Ultra Ego allows you to push yourself beyond your limit until you completely exhaust yourself & fall out of the GoD transformation. SSBE doesn't let the body get pushed to such an extreme that leaves you completely vulnerable for the sake of power that will burn out.

We can conclude that what the limit-breaking power of "Ultra Ego" does is...

alter the appearance of a mortal using the GoD form

increase strength & durability

enhance the natural abilities & the strength of techniques

grant the user to use GoD level Hakai attacks

amplify the personality of the user

EXTRA:

By looking at context clues & using some deductive reasoning, it appears that ONLY when Vegeta is engaged in battle while using the Ultra Ego form, there is "no limit" for his God of Destruction power.

But, since Vegeta is not a true GoD like Beerus, once Vegeta runs out of "fuel" or when he powers down from his Ultra Ego form, the extra strength that he gained through taking damage during combat is gone because the power boosts leave when the Ultra Ego power leaves. Vegeta will have to restart his power progression all over again whenever he transforms back into Ultra Ego.

From my understanding, Ultra Ego appears to function something like this...

After three trips to Michigan I’m more determined than ever to flip Indiana blue in 2024. In the last 24 hours I’ve seen more “signs” of ignorance than I’ve seen in total all year where I live. It’s sickening that people are doubling down. Indiana wasn’t red when I moved there in 1991 and went blue for Obama in 2008. The energy right now is even stronger than it was then. Next Friday I will be attending a meeting to become acquainted with others in my community who are working for positive change. I believe there are many more like-minded folks than I realize. It’s time to stop cowering in fear and come out roaring!
