Just so that people know...
Tumblr media
Facebook/Meta's just-announced change in its fact-checking and moderation policies (which would, among other things, allow users to refer to LGBTQ+ people as "mentally ill"), and its sudden vanishing of trans- and nonbinary-friendly themes, has made it plain to me that some of the book-series-oriented spaces I've maintained over there for years are no longer safe places for users, especially younger ones, to be.
I have therefore begun deleting them.
The Middle Kingdoms page (being both the smallest and the one now potentially most dangerous to keep) was the first to go: I nuked it about ten minutes ago. (Naturally I checked it first to make sure nothing of any note was going on in there, and also naturally, I took a backup.)
The Young Wizards page will be the next to be deleted, probably tomorrow. The Ebooks Direct page there will also be deleted over the weekend. Neither of them was all that busy, ever: but that's not the point here. Meta is no longer a safe or appropriate place for them to be. (It doesn't hurt that many of FB's employees are furious about this policy change too... but their boss, I firmly believe, doesn't give a shit about that.)
The DD Facebook page may suffer the same fate. My personal "main" account...? I have a lot of older friends over there for whom FB is their lifeline and main digital platform. I'm going to have to think about how best to handle that. It may be that there will be no more public posting from me there: just DM'ing. ...And I'm still working out what makes the most sense to do about the Middle Kingdoms Instagram account, and my own personal one. Neither of them has been heavily trafficked, and I may nuke them too.
(sigh) All this comes as something of a wrench. But at the very least, as regards the part of my creative work that contains LGBTQ+ themes and characters, I refuse to leave any of it there. To do so would risk having its continued presence seen as support for the platform's boss (and, as @petermorwood remarks in passing, "would-be capo"), who's already busy genuflecting to the US government's incoming (mob-)boss's agenda.
So, as the man says,
"If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well It were done quickly..."

Hey! I notice you talk a lot about the discourse in the hellaverse fandom and i really like your explanations so i wanted to ask for your opinion on something?
Do you also get frustrated by how many people act like viv is responsibly for every single shortcoming of the hellaverse? It’s like nothing can even be slightly flawed without it being her fault somehow.
People act like she’s the sole writer for both shows and that whenever there’s a flaw, it’s her fault. There are multiple writers but i have ONLY ever seen criticism on her. Weird
When people dislike the merch, it’s her fault, when there’s complications with shipping merch it’s her fault, when something weird happens with fans it’s her fault, etc etc.
Queer women cannot exist on the internet without scrutiny. And i know what people are gonna say, they’re gonna list out every weird thing she’s ever done in the past and then tell me how it’s actually okay to harass people involved in the hellaverse because of this.
Regarding her past actions, i mean i just dont really think about it when i watch either show? Im not a twitter user, never will be again, so i dont even see half of any new drama. I just really dont care. maybe she’s been unprofessional before i can admit that but people have gone a bit too far. Im not gonna anon this ask bc frankly i couldnt care less if someone wants to yell at me it’s not that serious ill just log off
I cannot stand the Viv hate, because literally all arguments I've seen against her all fall under either one of these three categories: 1. mistakes she's made in the past but has learned from, 2. painfully obviously fake "evidence" and 3. things she didn't even do/had no control over (because like you said she's not the only one working on these shows).
An example for one of the most recent dramas with the Valentine's merch, I've legit seen haters attack Viv for FANART of the merch, thinking it was official merch. Aka, they just keep proving over and over again how quickly they are to blindly believe anything as long as it supports their "agenda". And Viv also had to clarify she wanted Angel included, but didn't have the final say, yet Viv is the only one getting attacked for Angel being absent.
Like, obviously I don't expect everyone to like her as a person, because sometimes we just don't vibe with people even if you like their work (though, most Viv haters use hating her work as an excuse to personally hate her, too). But it's the arguments people use on "why" that make it impossible for me to take them seriously, because so much of it just comes down to (internalized) misogyny and queerphobia. On top of her being a queer women in a still mainly male dominated industry, so she's an "easier" target.
Honestly, her female and queer characters being "impure/imperfect" is literally part of why I love them so much, they're human (well, demons) first and women and/or queer second. That's usually how you write the best characters, because when you write the woman/queer part first, so many writers fall into the trap of making them "pure/perfect" and THAT is how you dehumanize us.
And, sorry not sorry, but I'd rather vibe with a creator who's openly pro-trans rights, pro-LGBTQ+ rights in general, pro-women rights, anti-Trump, ect. (she shares those kinda things basially daily on her Instagram stories) than listen to anything these haters cry about.
Speaking of the trans thing, it says a lot about these haters that they'd rather believe fake "evidence" of her being transphobic than the words directly from a trans person's mouth (Morgana, aka Sallie May) who's friends with Viv and has to constantrly keep reminding people how supportive she is of trans rights.

how dare you say that trans women online believe things that they have very frequently openly said that they believe
I'm a monster.
i can't stop thinking about this whole dropout thing, and after browsing through the dropout confessions blog, i think i can put my finger on part of what's sitting so wrong with me
there's a conflation of "trans people getting exposure and jobs" with "representation." i wholeheartedly agree that dropout could be a great platform for trans comedians to get exposure - but those trans people aren't "representation" of anything. they just ARE. those are PEOPLE, not characters.
it belies the selfishness of this whole thing, yknow? it isn't about uplifting trans people. it's about asking "how can i see myself in this." all well and good for fictional stories, but....real people don't have a responsibility to be "representation."
Yeah, it's very unfocused. It could be either of those things but there's not any structure to the argument so they keep getting mixed together.
this just in: trans women aren't allowed to be associated with snakes because, as we all know, Snakes Is Penis. sorry transfem herpetologist ya gotta get a new job
And it's just the worst thing ever to hypothetically refer to a woman as having a penis.
I love how many of us go to the mall. Velvet nation do be shopping!
I'm a mall girl trying to live a mall life.
Looking at the Droupout thing, I think a major takeaway should be 'don't reblog informational posts unless you have verified the information yourself, especially when those posts are accusing people of bigotry'. People can and do weaponize social justice and people's desire to do good. Fact-checking does not make you a bigot. And not reblogging something doesn't make you a bigot either. It's okay to say 'I don't have enough information or context about this to share this post'.
Unfortunately they've began to weaponize the average Tumblr user's poor grasp of math.
Psst... do you know Mononoke? Not the Ghibli one, the one from 2007. I watched the recent movie the other day and the animation definitely hasn't altered my brain chemistry and I'm so profoundly normal about it (lie)
Yeah, me and my partner both adore it.
got a reply that accused me of being a transmisogynist because i refused to engage in their bad faith argument about the existence of transandrophobia on a post that... wasn't about the existence of transandrophobia lol
well it is now
maybe i'm just not as terminally online these days, but i don't really get the point of the recent dropout discourse. like yeah – post about how you want to see transfems on dropout! point out some transfem comedians you think would work well on dropout shows! but like? is there an endpoint to this discourse? shows aren't made overnight. if dropout producers/casting directors/etc are listening to the criticism then we won't actually see any of the fruits of it for another year. it's frustrating to see people acting like increasing diversity of real life workplaces is just pressing a button and that it doesn't take a lot of time & effort to scout talent, find shows that work for them, arrange production schedules, etc, etc, so that the people involved are actually treated as valuable & equal members of the cast and not just a diversity hire.
and i'm sure if dropout releases a statement right now it'll be criticized as being performative (as statements like those always are regardless of the context or sincerity). a boycott for something like this is never going to be effective because it's just going to take away revenue from an independent company that makes queer centered media and thus prevent them from developing new shows/find new talent. (to be clear, i don't think dropout has done anything to warrant a statement or boycott or anything. it would be one thing if there was actual evidence of transfems being actively excluded or transmisogyny that isn't a one off joke that was taken the wrong way.)
idk it's just a continued trend of "new popular creator/company that's inclusive and actively supports queer people" -> "creator/company isn't quite as diverse or progressive as its audience" -> "manufactured drama starts in the audience" -> "creator/company loses a lot of its audience, has to downscale projects, and it drops out of mainstream culture/is seen as cringe or bad for nothing." every time i think that surely we've gotten better at handling diversity criticism in progressive media, we fail again.
sorry this is so long, i'm not even a huge dropout fan (and maybe i would have stronger feelings about the diversity of the cast if i was) but it's just depressing to see this many people spend so much time complaining & analyzing the trans rep on dropout when there are so many bigger problems for trans people these days.
the endpoint is getting attention for whining lol
It's interesting to see you accused of lying when I doubt they could come up with an example that isnt either:
A) something you genuinely misremembered and have already addressed and corrected
Or
B) you talking about the beliefs another person has expressed on their blog and using a term they don't use to describe those beliefs (e.g. trf, baedell)
Thank you anon!
wait til people hear about transmascs whos star sign is virgo. u mean tell me ur star sign is MAIDEN VIRGIN??
astrology is transphobic
Hey, as a POC you’re definitely not racist nor have i ever felt uncomfortable by your blog or views and opinions. Also, it would definitely be weird of you to go out of your way to reblog more poc just to fill an invisible “quota” that from my experience, only bigots have in order to appear not-bigoted. Im not saying you do that or the like, i hope this makes sense 👍
Thank you as well, anon!
Oh man bigots on here really like just throwing word salad at you and accusing you of crazy shit out of fucking nowhere.
I hope youre taking care of yourself, you deserve kindness
I'm doing my best.
Do you/have you played my candy love?
I haven't!

once again rambling about Adam Parrish
Hi! This still belongs to my big Raven Cycle analysis, click here for the masterpost.
For most of the characters I obviously read a lot into subtext and speculate about how they're absolutely not straight, but lucky for us, we do get canon queer characters!
So let this be me talking about Adam as bi representation and also throwing in (other people's) gender headcanons. As always, please tell me your thoughts in the notes <3
c) Adam Parrish
Sadly, I cannot speculate too much about Adam’s sexuality, as he is canonically the mean, witchy (and bitchy) bisexual.
There isn’t much I can say, really. Throughout the book series he displays interest in both Blue and Ronan. And also Greenmantle, but I would like all of us to ignore that because I want to believe Adam has good taste. Blue and Ronan as his love interests are essentially seen as equal. While I would say he had already had some repressed attraction for Ronan (see: him calling the swearing melodic, black-painted poetry- you normally wouldn’t feel like that for someone who just called you a motherfucker) in book one while dating Blue. Yet it becomes very much clear that he did have romantic feelings for Blue. Yes, the two of them were doomed from the start (but still pretty cute I’d say! Until things went to shit, that is), however, Blue is not treated by the narrative as some mistake before Adam figures out he’s actually gay (looking at you judgingly here, Rainbow Rowell). Neither was Ronan a quick, silly thing to see how it would feel to kiss the same gender. That is, like, very much very obvious, through the last five books. They are boyfriends, your honor.
At this point I would also like to give a shout-out to Adam Parrish and the Crying Club (which would make for a fire band name, just saying). This little group of queer people Adam collects at uni (in Call Down The Hawk) has my whole heart and I so wish we would have seen more of them, I am forever mourning their potential of silly, reoccurring side characters. What I’m trying to say though is this: The fact that Adam builds a group of queer people around himself (another one apart from the Gangsey) proves his sexuality even more, because we all know queer people flock towards each other.
Either way, canon bisexual, we love that. Moving on.
Honorary mention to the transmasc Adam headcanon that Tumblr user @barbaricpoetic compiles especially well in a post. I personally do not follow that headcanon, like of course I do not think Blue is supposed to be written as genderfluid in the books, but somehow I believe even less in trans Adam, but either way I do agree there is a lot of strong source material to support that headcanon. Check out the original post for a lot more detail, I don’t want to plagiarize all of that here either way, but here’s two especially solid hints: First of all, he does everything to appear more masculine, like working in typically male-dominated fields and dressing accordingly to that, while orientating his behavior on Ronan and Gansey, who, ironically, do not try as hard as him. Secondly, there’s physical descriptions, Adam being a lot more “elegant” and delicate than the other (Raven) boys Blue knows, with unusual features, and “blue eyes pretty enough for a girl”. Yeah, might be a coincidence, might be solid, queer truth.
This would all make so much sense, even within the books and all, there is just one, considerably big thing, that would not add up with this in canon. Adam’s rural-conservative shitbag of a father would never use the correct name and pronouns for his ftm child.
Either way, there might still be something fun going on with his gender that defies the binaries. Why do I think so? Well, Gansey says a very interesting thing. “Henry was a boy. Adam was a─ Gansey didn’t know.” I wish he would have told us what makes them different. What is it that Adam was? A man? A demiboy? A nonbinary person? A dinosaur in disguise? Please do enlighten us, Gansey. I’m assuming it’s got something to do with Adam being more mature than Henry (he definitely is), but like with Blue and the 300 Fox Way Women, it might be a gender thing, at least you can very easily lay it out to be that way.
To conclude as I will conclude every character part, I think Adam might possibly wear a crop top (might take him a while to accept masculinity is everything you want it to be and not just a certain aesthetic standard though), but absolutely not regularly and not around strangers or his parents.

Ch 61: Interest
Tumblr media
Shen's desperate to bring down Feng even if he has to sacrifice himself to do it. Since Feng only responds to strength (and certainly not logic!) there's only one way to keep him in check!
And what's up with that bag at Shen's feet? Are those senzu beans? Shen is going to need a powerup if he's gonna defeat Feng!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Feng doesn't have a scratch on him after Andy's attack! He's gonna be trouble for our team of fighters. They'll either have to collaborate to chip away at him and wear him down or take him out in one catastrophic attack, because fighting him in a traditional sense is going to be a mistake.
Before I get too far into the chapter, I want to look at what I *believe* are *some* of the influences for the character of Feng. I certainly don't know Tozuka's mind, and I'm not trying to say that these are 100% intentional, but these are some other characters who remind me of Feng in interesting ways.
1. Tao Pai Pai
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tao Pai Pai (Mercenary Tao) debuted in Dragon Ball chapter 85 as a notorious assassin hired by the Red Ribbon Army to take out Goku. He's ruthless, greedy, arrogant, selfish, uses his braid as a weapon, and even kills someone with his tongue. He's also 291 years old, despite his middle-aged appearance. I don't think there's ever an explanation for how he lived so long. He's just a sage that way, I guess.
There's an anime filler scene where Tao Pai Pai even gets a black cloud like Feng's, though it doesn't last very long.
Tumblr media
Tao Pai Pai was visually based on the villain from the Jackie Chan kung-fu movie Snake in the Eagle's Shadow. Take off the mustache, and you'd have someone who looks a bit like Feng (though Feng smiles a lot more than this guy).
Tumblr media
But in the end, Tao Pai Pai proves to be a coward and doesn't have anywhere close to the grit, determination, and near-invincibility of Feng. He fights dirty, pretends to surrender, and generally acts like an arrogant dingus. Our Feng would run circles around this scrub. Still, there are parallels between them that I'll point out during his scenes.
2. Feng from The Iceman Cometh
The Iceman Cometh is a 1989 Hong Kong film that's kind of an isekai of its day. It has a villain named Feng who uses a time-travel device. The hero and the villain travel through time to 1989 Kowloon, where the bulk of the film takes place. Spoiler: Kowloon is Feng's last name in UU.
Tumblr media
Though both the Feng in the movie and our Feng are excellent fighters, hate-sink villains and snarkers, the "Iceman" Feng is a much, MUCH, more evil character than the UU Feng, and that's saying a lot. You can see how bad he is because of his evil mustache.
3. Feng Wei from Tekken
Tumblr media
I haven't played a fighting game in...decades, but I hear that Feng Wei is a hot-tempered Blood Knight who's obsessed with becoming the greatest fighter in the world. He fights in a different style than Feng's Bajiquan, though. As much as Tozuka loves referencing fighting games, I wouldn't be surprised if Feng Wei was an influence.
Honorable mentions:
Akuma/Gouki from Street Fighter, who's obsessed with fighting Ryu at his peak
Younger Toguro from YYH, who would go to great lengths to preserve his strength and youth
Anyway, the character of Feng is heavily based in the Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy who's always looking for a Worthy Opponent, and if he can't find one, he'll create one. He's neglected almost every other aspect of life in pursuit of power and satisfaction, and it seems he'll never be satisfied until he's killed by someone he deems worthy.
Tumblr media
Shen and Feng are two different sides to the same coin-- a life dedicated to martial arts can take a dark or light path depending on the motivations of the user, which is a common theme in works about martial arts.
OK, with all that out of the way, let's continue the chapter!
Tumblr media
Yeah, you can't just introduce a character like Feng and then not have Andy fight him! Slow down, Fuuko! We've gotta see Feng slug it out with Andy!
Tumblr media
Well, that's certainly a strategy!
Tumblr media
Feng's staff can transform into nunchucks to adapt to different kinds of fighting situations, just like a good martial artist. It's a versatile weapon that's well-suited to a quick-thinking fighter like Feng.
Being adaptable and able to shift styles and weapons is a major theme in a lot of Bruce Lee flicks, so it's no surprise to see Feng strike Lee's famous taunting pose on the next page.
Tumblr media
Andy accepts the invitation so quickly that he steps out of his panel! He attacks with supercharged punches while Fuuko holds on for dear life! But Feng is still just standing there barely moving...
Despite the frenzy of his attack, Andy's thinking strategically about how to bring Feng down. He's not interested in prolonging the battle the way Feng is.
Tumblr media
Feng fights with his hands behind his back the way Tao Pai Pai does.
His foot stomp is so powerful that it cracks the UMA's body, like the Earthquake Foot in Kengan Ashura or this scene from Kung Fu Hustle:
Tumblr media
Andy is incapacitated by it, too! Shen is way too powerful!
Tumblr media
Pretty rich for Feng to be calling someone else arrogant!
Ouch! Poor Andy! Using his wrist and elbow, Feng dislocates both of Andy's shoulders at once.
Feng's figured out Andy's rules before Andy had a chance to test Feng. Andy's strategy was to "keep dying" until he discovered the rules, but if Feng is only going to incapacitate him, then Andy won't be fighting at his full strength.
Tumblr media
But but but it could cause osteoarthritis? Or ligament damage? And that could be deadly because... bone spurs? IDK, I'm grasping at straws here. I don't WANT Andy's power to have a loophole! But I suppose if someone has to discover a loophole, it should be Feng. I wonder if Juiz knows about this detail...
Tumblr media
Andy attacks again, but Feng blocks with his forearm. Why can't Andy damage him???
Feng attacks with a double-palm strike:
Tumblr media
Oh damn, Feng isn't depending on an ability! Everything we've seen has just been his natural fighting power! He looks genuinely surprised that Andy's still standing. Perhaps Andy is a worthy opponent?
Tumblr media
Finally, we learn the name of Feng's style! By the way, if you're wondering about the Japanese names of Feng's moves, the UU English translator David Evelyn explained them here!
I would also like to mention Andy's sad shoulders. Utterly heartbreaking. I don't think we've ever seen him slouch like that before! He really looks incapacitated that way, and from Fuuko's expression, it's concerning her, too!
Tumblr media
This page, though! I love this simple layout and how much it shows about the battle. Feng's lost his smile, but Andy's grinning now!
Andy's disinterest in being the strongest is curious. If he DID have that ambition, I'd imagine we'd see a lot more conflict between him and Victor. To Feng though, anyone who lacks that ambition is a coward.
Tumblr media
Feng punches clean through Andy, likely attempting to take out Fuuko since he knows Andy can heal from something that catastrophic.
Feng taunts Andy for caring about something more than just his own strength and threatens to kill Fuuko in order to make Andy power up. Jeeze, this guy really has only one strategy to motivate people...
WHAT IF I KILL YOUR LOVED ONES?!? THEN WILL YOU BE STRONG?! THEN WILL I BE STRONGER THAN STRONG YOU?!
Tumblr media
Best zombie.
"While I've got you here, let me tell you something..."
Tumblr media
Feng, of course, has ignored the advantages of working in a team and fighting altruistically.
Tumblr media
Shen's been missing for a minute! He comes back in style to stab Feng through Andy, much to Andy's surprise. Feng is delighted to see that Shen's emotion-powered attack was so strong! He's willing to do anything to fuel their rage. Can the Union work together to beat him without losing their cool?

Kronya is secretly an Aegir sibling propaganda:
-Kronya largely goes unexplained and because of the particular lack of content it feels like whatever surrounded her was cut. She was a minor villain in the game and served that purpose but Kronya specifically felt like missed potential or cut content
-Kronya has the same hair color as Ferdinand and Duke Aegir. This isn't really spectacular because there are only so many colors in the world but each person seems to have a distinct enough hair color from one another. Even Lysithea and Edelgard, who both have white hair and also for the same reasons, have slightly different tinges to their hair
-Tacking onto that, all other agarthan characters that we've been presented with (including Hopes) have white hair. Side characters such as Myson aside because they're reused assets and not significant. Agarthans in disguise, such as Cornelia, I don't count because again, it's a disguise
-Ferdinand introduces himself as the legitimate child of Duke Aegir, which he would have no reason to do unless there was the possibility of another child at least somewhere in the world who was cast aside or shunned or something else happened
-Duke Aegir already has/had connections with the agarthans directly bc of the insurrection of the seven
-Most of the agarthans we see are specifically MAGIC users aside from Thales' cut sword but even then it's a magic sword. Kronya, while using a magic weapon, is specifically not a main magic user, strictly sticking to her sword. Hell, the agarthan man-god has a fucking MAGIC CANON for christ sake
-The agarthans toyed with all of the Emperor's kids as well as the children of House Ordelia. It's not unlikely that they either did things to other children of noble houses or were an influence on them to some capacity
I don't have a reason for as to why Ferdinand and Kronya wouldn't recognize each other but the best I can say is Agarthan Intervention but that's not satisfying to me
POINTS AND YELLS
I now believe Kronya is Ferdinand’s trans half sister
He didn’t recognize her because she’s transitioned since last he saw her 😌

(professional voice) hello esteemed tumblr user who insists on the Just A Guy status, ive got a question. you've got quite the hang on the "body worship" tag, or so i've heard through the grapevine. is there any way you'd, perchance, share a tidbit or two on how you write about this particular topic, especially in how crowley and aziraphale see it? im trying to dabble it myself, and would really like some advice so i may be worthy to use this tag one day. if you'd be so inclined. if you wouldn't mind. or something
this a long winded way to say: i love so fucking much on how you talk about trans bodies especially since im fat and trans myself. any advice on helping others to? ❤️
hello!!! i do insist on Just A Guy status, because i'm fumbling my way through with no confidence in what i'm doing, ever - that said, i'm really really honoured that you came to me with this! body worship is something i really really enjoy writing, and intend to write a lot more of in the near future<3
i think there are three ways i could suggest that you approach this, just from my own experience - but forming my ideas on what to write aren't always this conscious. i'm gonna talk about this in the context of aziraphale and crowley because of course those are the characters i write about!!
1 if you feel comfortable, sit down and think, for a moment, about your own body. which parts of it have not historically been loved, either by yourself or by others or both (as a fellow trans person who's also not thin, unfortunately it's not difficult for me to immediately list a whole host of features i possess which i've been made to dislike, or which others have either shown disdain for or disinterest in)?
then, think about how you would like those features to be treated by a lover. which physical actions might someone perform, which words might someone use, that could make you love them, or at least tolerate them a lot better?
2 think about aziraphale and crowley, and the actors who play them in the show. what do you find beautiful about them? what might not be seen as conventionally beautiful in them by society at large?
once you've got that, it could help to think about how you might want them to express that beauty between themselves, or how you might do that if you had a sexual partner who looked like them<3
3 stepping back a little bit from specific bodily features, think more broadly about how you'd like to be treated in the bedroom. imagine an ideal sexual scenario, in which you are indulged in absolutely everything you want, everything you like - even if no one else currently knows you like it but you - with enthusiasm and care. think about your most cradled desires for sex in the emotional sense, too, not just which specific sex acts and techniques turn you on - would you like to feel taken care of? would you like to be thoroughly and curiously explored? would you like to be given an opportunity to express vulnerability?
or is your ideal scenario providing for someone else? if so, how would you like to do that? of course, most sex is a give and take, but it helps to think in extremes about giving and receiving here, because body worship can be more intense in this manner than most sexual practices.
i've used a bit of all of these in I'm Beginning to See the Light, but especially number 1 in chapter 2 and and number 3 in chapter 3:-)
hopefully at least one of these ideas helps you write some body worship! again, thank you so so much for coming to me with this, i am unbelievably honoured<3 i believe in you! i'd love to read anything you might produce in this vein so do feel free to send it over!!!!

Hello! Welcome to the intersex gimmick blog, where every character is intersex because we say so! You can submit characters to be "promoted" to intersex, and you can even suggest whether they are trans or cis intersex.
Two mods run this blog, [REDACTED] who uses it/its or no pronouns, and Clown who uses that thing/that things, and both are intersex. They both aren't going to disclose any personal information, or their main blogs, just for protection and privacy :-)
Click the readmore for further information!

Rules:
Send an ask with a character name and the media they are from, and we will find an image of them and post them with the intersex flag!
You can also talk to us in the ask or submission about why you believe said character may be intersex, or your own personal headcanons, and we will respond! You can also use the submit post option to submit intersex characters spotted in the wild, aka characters that are possibly hinted at being intersex or are canonly!
Do not send us real people and claim they are intersex if they have not said they are! We don't care if it's hinted at or what you believe, fictional characters only, no actors or real people.
Do not say the h slur for intersex people on this blog! We do not use that word anymore, as it is disrespectful and insulting.

I thought I’d give a bit of into about some of my original characters so y’all have at least a vague idea of who they are.
Lev (he/him) is a middle aged Russian trans man, who is also asexual and achillean/mlm. He has natural magic and is quite powerful. He was born in the USSR and originally served in the Soviet military and was a valuable asset to them, but he defected and ran away. During his escape, he got caught in a storm and went missing. He was believed to be dead for a few decades, until the 2010s, when he was discovered in a sort of frozen state and then unfrozen by other magic users. He was found in the magical dimension/realm rather than the regular one.
In present day, he lives in the magical dimension. He strongly opposes the current Russian government, who are unhappy about it, especially considering that they want him back to serve in their military as a weapon.
Sasha (he/him; possibly other pronouns) is a Russian in his early 20s, who also has ADHD. His bigoted family kicked him out of home after finding out he was queer, but luckily, he received help and was given a place to stay in the magical dimension, where he still lives to this day. At one point he lost his entire left arm, with it now being replaced by an advanced prosthetic.
Marco Gromov (he/him) is a Russian Argentinian in his late 20s, who is both autistic and has ADHD. His name is technically Marcos, but he has largely dropped the S at the end. His main special interests are technology and clean/renewable energy, and he’s strongly committed to fighting climate change. He’s also bi and dating Luz.
Luz “Lulu” de Luna (they/she) is a transfem non-binary Afro-Dominican in their late 20s, who is also autistic. They have natural magic powers, and they are a sorcerer*, which are a powerful type of magic user. They’re also a pretty good artist, drawing both traditionally and digitally. They’re pan and, as mentioned earlier, dating Marco.
(*Sorcerer is the current name for this type of magic users, but I’m considering changing it)
Melissa “Missy” Ito (they/them) is a Japanese American in their late 20s. They are Afro-Asian/Blasian, and they are also intersex. They’re a journalist working for a reputable small to mid size left-leaning outlet, and they are also a good photographer. They have interviewed both Lev and Marco before.
Ariel Fisher (he/they; may change later) is a genderfluid Jewish Canadian in their early 20s. They’re also aromantic. They’re a small to mid size streamer, mainly streaming video games.
Andreas Marinos (he/him) is a gay Greek man in his early 30s. He can transform into a mermaid, and he has water powers (hydrokinesis), as well as magical singing. He has a passion for theater and is himself an actor/performer.

'The casting director for Doctor Who responds to the recent backlash surrounding one casting decision in the show’s “Wild Blue Yonder” special. As Doctor Who awaits the release of season 14, the show is currently airing its 60th anniversary specials. The final anniversary special, titled “The Giggle” is set for release on December 9.
After “Wild Blue Yonder” received backlash about its Isaac Newton casting, the Doctor Who casting director reacts to the online response. Speaking with Digital Spy, casting director Andy Pryor says that “it’s sad that we’re in a time where people villainise minorities.” Pryor went on to express the importance of giving “people a voice” on screen, saying that seeing one’s identity reflected on screen “can be a huge lifeline for some people.” Check out the full quote from Pryor below:
It's sad that we're in a time where people villainise minorities, This sort of chatter, I'm very good at kind of tuning it out. And I'm also very, very happy to block people on Twitter. I don't really have any time for bigotry at all.
It then becomes even more important to give people a voice and for people to be represented, especially for young people growing up who might be trans or from any minority. If they can see themselves on screen, then that can be a huge lifeline for some people. That can make them feel part of the world, which indeed they are.
Social media is a bit of a dangerous place because I think people get sucked into saying things that I don't know that they truly believe? It just becomes a game for them. Unfortunately, real life isn't a game, and I think it's important to stand up for for people who are marginalised.
Growing up as a gay man, I'm as aware as any anybody else of how this stuff makes you feel when you see it. How that negativity can affect you. I don't really think anyone should have to go through that.
Doctor Who’s Isaac Newton Casting Backlash Explained
In “Wild Blue Yonder,” the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble are sent back in time and end up meeting physicist Isaac Newton. In the Doctor Who episode, Isaac Newton is played by Nathaniel Curtis, who is a person of color. Some people on social media were upset about this decision, pointing out that the real-life Isaac Newton was a white, English man.
The Doctor Who casting backlash comes during a time when similar race-related casting decisions have been highly criticized. This backlash has included recent vitriol surrounding the casting of Halle Bailey in The Little Mermaid and Rachel Zegler in Snow White, both of whom are actresses of color who portray historically white Disney princesses. After “Wild Blue Yonder,” Doctor Who became the most recent piece of mainstream media to be under fire after making a concerted effort towards inclusion.
Within this criticism, it is great to see a show like Doctor Who hold firm in its ground about inclusive casting. Throughout the Doctor Who anniversary specials, the show’s effort towards inclusion is clear. “The Star Beast” character Rose Noble is a trans character played by Yasmin Finney, who is a transgender woman herself. “The Star Beast” also features actress Ruth Madeley, who is a wheelchair user, marking another step towards inclusion. Isaac Newton’s casting is just another step that Doctor Who is making to create a diverse cast, and it is luckily one that it will stand by despite the hate.'

chiming in on the altersex poll as an intersex person, I do not believe it is problematic or harmful in how it's most commonly used today (respectfully) or that the modern altersex community is inherently intersexist (in fact i consider myself both and have seen others who do as well) but the one intersex person I know who is uncomfortable with it dislikes it because of it's site of origin
It was originally coined as "Demisex" by Weasyl user SpottyJaguar (Weasyl is a furry artist site). They changed it to "Altersex" after feed back and made a large journal about it which details it's history (Wayback link because the original is private now: web archive org/web/20170825082337/https://www weasyl com/journal/90896 )
But this person told me they were uncomfortable because SpottyJaguar is a porn artist, and the term was coined around discussions of fictional character parts. They also don't like that one of the people involved in the coining (who also made some suggestions for the prefix before it was changed), FaroreNightclaw, claims to have made it and has some very rigid opinions on which slurs actually harm intersex people and which ones we can reclaim (despite admitting to being perisex). ( https://www furaffinity net/journal/9346039/ )
An example is their claim that"she-m*le"/"h*-she" and "d*ckgirl"/"c*ntboy" are exclusive to binary trans men and women only and the only slur affecting or aimed at intersex people is the h-slur. They also state that slurs in general cannot be "reclaimed", only "claimed" by the exact identity they personally believe it affects. I really do understand being uncomfortable with that, I think it's very ignorant, but again I don't think the modern Altersex community aligns with this person at all. It's been nothing but welcoming.
That second dude is so stupid 💀 any slur can affect anybody
Ofc it's okay to be uncomfortable with some terms, especially when they've been used in a bad way in the past, but when a term is reclaimed and is someone's identity, you can't change that
Also a person has nothing to do with their coined terms, if they're a bad person they're a bad person, but that doesn't affect the term that they made, unless the term itself was made with bad intentions (even then it can be reclaimed)
And that first dude didn't even do anything wrong afaik, it's understandable being uncomfortable with him because he's a porn artist but there's nothing wrong with that (unless he was drawing obvious bad shit)
Being altersex has nothing to do with the people who coined the term, from the altersex people I've met they have been really accepting and aren't trying to be intersex

Sometimes I worry about how people are going to react to Violet Tage, the protagonist of my WIP novel.
She's a trans witch in a world where a rare few girls (roughly one in 80) are born with magic. Only girls can be witches, and if you weren't born as one then there's no way to become one... until Violet came along. She was explicitly NOT born as a witch, and transitioning didn't immediately give her magic either, despite her feeling with all her heart that she was supposed to be a witch and her lack of magic causing her both emotional and physical agony. At first I don't specify how it happened, and I expect some readers will assume it was a result of transitioning that just took her longer to manifest (which is my fallback if my current plan gets too awful a reception from beta/sensitivity readers), but the truth as I currently plan it is a spoiler:
Sometime before the start of the story proper, Violet met a witch who was also a scientist, Dr. Elaina Sidian. Magic in this world is linked to emotion, and Dr. Sidian believed that because emotion is linked to chemicals in the body (hormones, neurotransmitters, etc.), magic must also be linked to body chemistry. Violet begged Dr. Sidian to experiment on her and artificially give her magic by altering her body chemistry, and it was a greater success than either of them could've hoped!
Violet could live the witchy life she'd always yearned for, so long as she kept the origins of her magic secret. But Dr. Sidian was persecuted for her research, became increasingly mentally broken from trauma, and turned to working with criminals for funding. She makes them a drug derived from the treatment she gave Violet, which gives people temporary magic but causes nasty side-effects, and she wants to study Violet to learn why the treatment was safe and permanent for her.
The eventually-revealed truth is that because Violet truly sees herself as a witch, the magic and chemistry were able to become part of her, while the criminals who are only using the drug for power get backlash because they subconsciously reject it. It's kinda like if Violet was using mental health meds to be her best self while the criminals were just using it to get high, but not quite.
The nonfictional reason why I have it like this is because this is a story about overcoming impostor syndrome. Violet's core struggle is worrying she's not a real witch, and proving both to others and herself that she is, even if she needed medical help to get there. But it's also a story of trans joy, so I didn't want Violet's feelings of fakeness to come from transphobia. Yes, I'm doing that thing where the queer character is fully accepted for being queer but faces struggles that happen to be a good allegory for queer struggles.
But I still worry that by having Violet not just naturally develop magic by transitioning, or by having Dr. Sidian and the magic drug users as antagonists (though Dr. Sidian is much more complex than just villainy), people will interpret my story as transphobic or anti-medicine.
Sorry if you (whoever reads this) just wanted to read about a cool character and this was more fraught than you signed up for, but advice would be welcome, especially from other trans women.

this is my third fucking writing account alright alright Okay
Hello my name is Elijah !
A shit ton of what I write will be self insert/oc shit, but I will certainly try to stay close to my roots of writing x reader content lol
I bounce between hyperfixations a lot, I’d advise to not really expect me to stay on one bandwagon for a super long time. Example: two abandoned fanfic accounts I stopped writing on because I themed them both after hyperfixations I ended up dropping later on (Rebrands just don’t work, people!).
That being said, I’m definitely going to try, at the very least, to begin or work on different writings and stories or what have you.
A lot of my stories will be focused on trans characters and gay relationships because I don’t believe I’m attracted to women (could be though idk) so just be warned about that
Right now, I’m very much into Righteous Gemstones and would LOVE to write about the characters, even if I end up being some fuckass mary sue oc (everyone is entitled to be a mary sue anywhere they want to because gestures broadly at the world around us)
I use escapism A Lot and some of it is just piecing together various bits and bobs (headcanon list anyone?) while others are more fleshed out stories
Yada yada yada uh interest list
- Righteous Gemstones
- Phantom of the Opera (ALW as well as Charles Dance’s Phantom)
- Shameless (weaker, this one)
- Ghost (weaker again but with the tour and new music dropping soon, I don’t expect it to fizzle out)
- Saw
- Inside Job
I do have an ao3 that I’ve uploaded before so here you go friends
https://archiveofourown.org/users/angelstios/pseuds/angelstios
I only have the one fic out rn but I’m working on a thing for phantom (self insert, historically inaccurate, yaoi + yuri, life is good)
That’s all I think, my writings not gonna be very good if I have the time to write so just be warned about that :p I get burnt out very easily so I apologize for that
Probably won’t take requests on this account because they kind of pressured me to stop writing in the first place, oh well
Enjoy your stay !!

Kurapika is a mix between androgynous and bishōnen
A few in the hxh community would claim that due to Kurapika’s androgynous appearance, he could be trans-coded or non-binary.
According to some who would believe this headcanon to be true, here are the proofs for it.
*Proofs will not include anything related to the 1999 version*
1. His voice actors are all females.
Many male characters have been voiced by females but what makes Kurapika stand out from the rest would have to be the fact that he has the appearance of a woman making him immediately assume that he should have a female voice which his two voice actors just happen to be females.
His English dub voice is Erika Harlacher while his Japanese dub voice is Miyuki Sawashiro.
Tumblr media
2. His chest has been censored multiple times.
A specific drawing made by Togashi has been repeatedly discussed in the fandom.
The drawing in question was from the 14th volume cover of the manga showing a half-naked Kurapika on it.
The intriguing part of the drawing however was the fact that his chest was barely drawn, making it look like it was half finished and vague looking.
Tumblr media
We can also see the same thing happening in a chapter cover showing the main four at the beach with Kurapika being the only one wearing a shirt among the guys.
Tumblr media
3. He did not appreciate Chrollo misgendering him.
In chapter 114, while keeping Chrollo captive and away from the other spiders, it was also the chapter where we finally see the leader of the spiders and Kurapika meeting each other face to face.
After looking at him for a small while, Kurapika asks the man why he could be staring for so long. The other man simply answers that he did not expect the chain user to be a woman.
After hearing his reply, Kurapika immediately shoots his thoughts down by telling him that he is not a female and should not be deceived by appearances.
Tumblr media
All proofs (including fanservice and fillers from the 1999 version) have pushed some fans to conclude that he might be a trans male or non-binary due to rectifying Chrollo’s misgendering and hiding his upper body on some occasions.
Although yes the theory/headcanon does sound plausible, it does not however explain Kurapika’s reason for fixing Chrollo’s mistake.
Instead of labelling Kurapika as a trans or a non-binary character, what some have not found out yet is the fact that Kurapika is an androgynous character. At face value that is.
Tumblr media
If we take a look at his beginnings, he was initially based on another character from Togashi named Youko Kurama from Togashi’s past work called Yu Yu Hakusho.
Tumblr media
Like Kurapika, who has been given a chest in the 1999 version for thinking he was a girl, Kurama has also been mistaken for a woman by the people who have worked on the animated version of the series and have changed his name to be “Denise” but later on realized their mistake and called him “Dennis”.
Tumblr media
Both have been thought to be females due to their gentle appearances and both have been known to look rather neutral instead of being identified as either male or female by the general public.
There is a slight difference however between non-binary and androgynous.
Non-binary is someone who identifies as any gender excluding male and female whereas androgynous is when someone has the appearance of male and female making them look ambiguous.
Tumblr media
In short, Kurapika is presented as a non-distinguishable character but at the same time, does harbour the bishōnen trope.
For those who are unfamiliar, the bishōnen trope is a popular character trope that presents a male character with “feminine” physical traits (also known as androgynous traits).
They are tall and slender with no recognizable muscles or body hair.
Tumblr media
This Asian trope is also known as the “beautiful boy” trope referring that they are pretty boys to the point that their appearances make them androgynous.
Examples such as these are the following:
Tumblr media
Kurapika is aware of his feminine traits and knows how to use them to his advantage.
He dressed up as a woman when taking Chrollo to hide his real appearance from the troupe and to fool them into redirecting their attention onto someone else.
It was understandable for him to correct Chrollo’s misgendering and tell him to not be fooled by appearances due to the kurta looking androgynous.
The female voice actresses have nothing to do with the proofs regarding Kurapika’s possible trans and non-binary codings since female voice actresses have played major roles in voicing male characters since the very beginning of television.
The censorings have a lot to do with Kurapika’s androgynism since they encourage the confusion behind whether he’s a female or male enforcing his body’s ambiguity.
Based on the bishōnen description, Kurapika fits all the boxes.
He’s a slender tall man with a pretty face, a gentle voice and no body hair while also fitting the androgynous definition by not showing us any intimate parts of his body.
Kurapika is simply an androgynous bishōnen.
Or in other words, a pretty boy whose looks make you question his gender.
