the fact that they made it illegal to make ads louder than programs on tv in 2010 but haven't updated it to apply the same regulation to streaming. who do i have to call.

It’s so sad to me how scared the Twitter and Reddit refugees are of making mistakes on this website.

Dear refugees, as someone who used to be on both Twitter and Reddit but who uses Tumblr the longest of all sites (besides Youtube):

This is the website without cringe culture. Don’t be ashamed. You won’t get downvoted or beat up for even your weirdest opinions because frankly, 90% of the users on this website are either neurodivergent or queer or a mix of both (me, I’m talking about me)

This website is like the table of bullied kids you always used to avoid in highschool.

We all know we’re different, strange, cringy, obsessive.

That’s why this place holds so little judgement.

We aren’t insecure incels. We embrace our differences.

Shoutout research librarian at my local library who broke out 3 different 10 pound style manuals to help me figure out how to cite a fucking 4chan post

#love to write an academic paper on internet extremism HAAATE to cite an academic paper on internet extremism #johnsense #she was so excited to do it too #if anyone's curious there's no official guidelines-the style manuals only went over instagram facebook twitter etc #and it basically was like oh cite their unique url and link to the post if you can #but since 4chan is completely anonymous and doesn't keep track of its users each individual post has a different serial number #and there is no way to link to separate posts #so for 4chan it's: Anonymous User [first 280 characters of post] 4chan [board] [time and date] [serial number]#to use it in practice here's one of my citations: Anonymous User [280 characters of text] 4chan /pol/ 11:59PM 10/22/2023 445969010 #this makes it marginally more searchable on archives like 4plebs #interesting to figure out!
