Wings in the Dark Chapter 30: Stability (Teaser)

Levi found the work going by much faster, more comfortably, with her there…and not just because she was doing a small portion of it for him.  The pages went by faster, the work didn't feel so tiring, and suddenly there were only a few stray papers in the piles she'd sorted for him left to do.  Y/N had wandered over to the couch once she'd done what she could, laying down with a soft whoosh of air that barely resembled a sigh.  She didn't speak while Levi continued to work, the candlelight growing smaller and the shadows longer until Levi decided enough was enough.  What remained were pages he could do in the morning, there were other things he could be doing right now–and wanted to do.

Levi carefully removed his cravat, fingers brushing against the bandage he'd forgotten was hidden beneath.  It definitely stopped bleeding by now, he could probably take the damned thing off.

It was a slight detour, but he came back minus a jacket, cravat, and bandage, the small bite wound properly cleaned up and hardly noticeable, and Y/N was still stretched out on the couch, having not made a sound or so much as twitched.

…Dammit, she's asleep, isn't she?

Levi didn't even have to come all the way around the couch to confirm it, he could peer over the edge and see that she was passed out asleep, lips parted, head turned into the cushions and pillowed under one arm, breathing slow and deep.

So much for spending a bit of one on one time together before getting some sleep.  He’d been hoping to have a bit of time to set aside business and the serious stuff and simply reassure himself that she was all right and with him, but if this was the most he would get…

His sigh was admittedly a disappointed one, even as he leaned against the edge of the couch with folded arms and watched her for a few moments.  How comfortable did she have to be around him to fall asleep on the not-that-comfortable couch that quickly, and with so little fuss?

She’d come a long way to get where she was now.  To go from scared barely adult just turned vampire driven underground, to now a cornerstone member of the Scouts (even if it was behind closed doors, only), improving the safety of the formations so they didn’t lose as many people, making plans that actually sounded plausible with Hange to help them capture and learn more about titans, she had friends, she had him–whatever they were, Levi still didn’t know what to label it.  She’d come here to find a way to make her abilities as a vampire helpful to other people, to make the lives she’d had to take in order to survive and stay strong enough to survive worth something, and so far, it seemed she was in step with that goal.

And he wasn’t going to let anyone threaten to destroy that progress, not when she’d crawled her way here over the past few decades and was just starting to get a taste of freedom and happiness again, despite the insanity of all the ways the world seemed to be going to shit right now.

Gentle Reminder (and notice to those of you who weren't around to see the update): I'm giving you teasers for the next chapters when I FINISH the next chapters since its been so long and I don't want to leave you all high and dry while I continue to write, but updates are still a little while off, since I'm aiming to get on a schedule and want to build up 3 or 4 chapters before I start posting again to give me some writing breathing room. BUT--One teaser and chapter down.

Oh I love the Vamp Levi feeding of reader but what if reader is human and she's not willing to be a vampire (I love being human ok forgive me😭 This idea was been running around my head since TWILIGHT!) but yeahhh I love and WILLINGLY be feed off the one and only Levi even thou my anemic ass would collapse seconds later 🍷✨

anon have u peeked into my mind because twilight is one of my favorite movie series!! (vamp!levi was briefly inspired by edward actually! ><)

but to answer your ask, i feel like levi could live without ever feeding off of you. he can always resort to hunting in a nearby woods for animals and that'll be the end of it. he never wants to pressure you in doing something you're not comfortable with or ready for. he'll wait a thousand years if he has to, as long as you're safe and healthy, that's all that matters to him.

that's not to say that he does get tempted from time to time though.. he has a good resistance and self control but when it comes to you and the way you unintentionally tease him with your neck exposed just for his viewing, it becomes difficult to be around you sometimes. during passionate and intimate moments, he can't help but graze his teeth along the side of your neck, though never applies pressure to actually pierce the skin – he'll always make sure of that. and in other times when it gets all too much for him, he'll disappear for a while, leaving a note by your bedside in reassurance that everything's okay and that he just needs to hunt for a few days.

days and days passed, without ever hearing from levi since he left. it was agonizing being alone in the confines of your cottage, you miss his scent that lingered everywhere you walked, you miss his tender embraces that hold you for just a little longer in the early mornings, you just miss him.

and abruptly, all your wishes and prayers were granted when you saw a figure standing by the front of your doorway, a shadow casted in all too familiar stature of your beloved. all at once, you wanted to be angry with him for leaving you like that, isolated and afraid – yet, you were overjoyed to know that his presence was reunited with yours once again.

"where have you been. i've been waiting for you.." as much as you tried to lace anger with your words, it was almost as difficult to do as trying to keep your composure in front of levi – it didn't go unnoticed by him either.

"i was w-worried sick. do you understand what was running through my mind these past few days?? how.. how scared i was?!" at this point, it was impossible to try and hold back anymore. bitter tears streamed down your face as levi's casted shadow grew closer to you. you soon felt warm, yet cold hands reach for your own and tug you against his chest.

he'd be lying if he said he wasn't a complete idiot for leaving you behind – he really was. he shushed you through soft coos of his voice and sweet apologies that were very much needed in this moment.

"i'm sorry, my love. i only wanted to keep you safe. im really sorry."

one of the first fics I read, and a fic that has literally never left my brain since then. It's amazing. It's very popular so I'm sure you've heard about it already if not read it, but if you haven't, it's a must read!! levi x doctor reader!

the best way i can describe this fic is that it drove an iron stake through my heart multiple times, pulled it out, then delicately rearranged the pieces and stitched it back together with gentle fingers. take it how you will but after a certain chapter i stopped reading it bc it was too painful, and then came back two months later to finish it off AND I AM SO GLAD I DID.

Levi

There's a lot with Levi when I first made him. At first there wasn't a proper backstory for him other than that he was a traumatized guy.

Levi was already arrested in his backstory before, so my whole goal with him was to get him arrested again and sent back to prison.

This would have triggered a rescue mission, or a prison escape (in my head I made Sayaka and Oscar go save him)

On the same topic of rescuing Levi, I have this old idea I played in my head where Levi was supposed to be kidnapped by this ability user that had the power to trap people in this video game. Bro Levi would have been in a little cage like Princess Peach.

If Levi was ever brought back to prison I would have created a little headspace segment for him (kinda like omori)

Ross

At first, Ross wasn't supposed to be a military captain. Instead, he was going to be some doctor to kidnap Levi back for experiments. This was changed to fit the backstory more.

Ross and Levi were supposed to have this big fight at one point.

And Ross was supposed to die by Levi finally killing him but in a bitter sweet goodbye.

Dr. Ikari

He was supposed to be the more cold doctor, but instead, he gave a more "I don't give a crap attitude."

He was going to help capture Levi, only to calm him down.

Nothing much about him other than a potential death.

Cooper

Oh boy, there is so much for Cooper.

At first, Cooper wasn't going to be brought back entirely. All because the og Cooper was dead and it would have ruined some of Levi's character development. So instead, I made this Cooper from a different universe.

At first, I was going to have him wander around and ask multiple people, "Are you my master?" But on the first one with Shibusawa, I had him settle with him for a long time.

He was almost gay or bi, but I gave him a female love interest. (Also his "love" for Shibusawa was more so a obsession than actual love.)

Big one‼️ Cooper at one point before he killed X, was going to go back to X. Either through by getting fired or just plain manipulation.

There were going to be multiple times in which he got kidnapped but those never happened.

At one point, he was going to snap, but that never happened as well.

Richard Connell

He was going to be more of an evil, bad guy with a god complex. Now he silly.

Fiona Delgado

She was created to flirt with an older version of Shibusawa. That never happened.

She was supposed to work at a normal boring job but I changed it to be the Port Mafia.

Hunter

Was going to die, never happened.

He was going to be a cool priest, but now he works for the Special Operations Division.

Dr. Paul

Was supposed to hunt down every vampire and try to kill then all.

Perhaps give him a potential love interest in which the irony of it is that the love interest is a vampire.

Felix

He was supposed to be more angry and charming, but he's just some goofy guy who yells at his rival and is actually a lot more friendly.

He was supposed to be ability-less but him having a cool sword as his ability sounded cool.

At one point, Lance (from Prime Softwares) was going to change Felix's "programming" and make him go on a murder rampage. Possibly a really intense boss fight with X.

Prime Softwares

Lance was supposed to die (he's barely alive but he's alive)

Lance and Grian were supposed to have this discussion and Lance would have threaten to deactivate Grian.

At one point, Grian would have completed a mission, but Lance would deactivate him anyways for a more new and improved model.

So Grian was almost a box of scraps for anyone to take.

The whole thing with the androids was to learn how to fuse ability user's blood into androids so androids could have said ability from the user. Basically weapons.

Because Lance wanted to take over the world with these androids.

At one point Grian was going to turn on Lance and attack Lance instead.

I tend to enjoy and love everything I write but here are some honourable mentions, all of which are levihan of course

1. What comes to your mind when I say 'Love'?

The first fic I finished on ao3. A series of interactions between Levi and Hange as they face the highs and lows of the world and their lives, and finally their feelings.

2. Experiments and Feelings

Chaos. Hange makes a chemical that can rivert people back to their child state. Not only that, but it seems to bring out a person's subconscious feelings to the surface.

When she takes a dose of it herself and refuses to leave Levi's side, the Captain is left to contemplate some very confusing feelings towards his fellow comrade

Loved writing this one.

3. Lucky

Child Levi meets Hange in the Underground. They become friends, explore and such.

This one was fun to write and I'm only thinking more about this since I might be working on a possible sequel (don't know when I'll post it though)

4. Deal With the Devil

Levi's a demon, Hange makes a contract with him to get revenge on the people who murdered her family.

Yeah it may seem like I've forgotten about this one but believe me, I LOVE this story and I wanna finish it. Updates are slow cuz I'm working on other projects T_T

5. Where My Monsters Like to Hide

A levihan and eremika vampire au. Started with a simple fanart and spiralled into a collab project with @sunflowersunite

In the midst of WW2 Paradis finds itself facing a new threat.

'I wonder if this is okay...' you thought to yourself as you showcased your halloween costume for this year in the bathroom mirror. You gave yourself a few looks, ones of disapproval and others of slight satisfaction, but overall you couldn't seem to find yourself appealing in the slightest.

You went bold this year – a skimpy angel costume with feathers that ruffle out on the sides, a short and fitting skirt that was sure to turn a few heads if you were to wear it out in public, a white corset that hugs your figure in a tight embrace and to top it all of – white, sheer thigh highs that stretched above your knees and a pretty pink garter that clasped onto your thigh in a sultry invitation to only one man you would ever allow to touch you in such a way.

Speaking of which, he was out in the dark corners of the night, hunting as always for his evening snack. He never thought to feed off of you and has managed his urges to do so over the past few months you've been with each other.

However, something sparked inside of you.

Something that felt very familiar and it was lurking in the very depths of your cottage.

"Oh? what a surprise is this Y/n..." A shiver followed down from your neck to your spine as you felt rough hands trails to the sides of your waist.

Your breathing nearly stopped altogether and the blood in your head swirled as every breath exhaled onto the side of your neck.

He was so stunned by you to say the least and couldn't really contain himself at this point like he normally does – but he decides to have his fun as always.

"My, what an outfit my love." Fuck, you felt embarrassed and a bit flustered at the fact that he had caught you like this – completely off guard and submitted to his mercy.

"I... bought this a while ago," you choke out, trying to keep your breathing steady, but it was beyond impossible to hide it as his senses were heightened tenfold and could practically hear the blood in your veins rush through in streams.

"Oh yeah? I gotta say, you look fucking hot in this." he breathes insatiably, wanting nothing more than to rip the teasing outfit off of you, faster than you could blink.

His palms delicately traced around to the back of your tied corset to which he playfully threaded each one through the gaps of his fingers.

You didn't know for how long you could stay like this, if he goes any further down-

Oh.

In an instant, he turns you around abruptly with the pads of his lips crashing into yours. Hands couldn't keep away anymore and the two of you turned into fucking animals in heat.

Breathes mingled together as one, his hand coming up to messily remove the halo from your head. The same hand curled into a fist, clasping a handful of your hair in a ball and keeping a firm grip onto you.

He was never this needy, but upon walking into a dark and silent living room, he automatically followed the dimmed light at the end of the hallway – and he was so glad he stumbled upon the work of art displayed in front of him.

Deep groans erupted from his mouth as he began making his way to the absolute weakness of his existence – your fucking thigh highs.

Oh he can't resist anymore.

He quite literally, drops to his knees and admires the view in front of him.

On the other hand, you're aching everywhere. Even in places he hasn't even touched yet. You were fucking desperate.

A curious finger pulls at the lace that meets the middle of your thigh and before you could process his next move, he snaps it back in place. A quiet whimper elicits in response and you almost jerk your hips closer to his face to entice him to do more to your growing needs – but no, a treasure like you deserves to be savored.

"I'm gonna fucking ruin you angel."

At first, they were just murders. Strange, bloodless murders.

Levi was somewhere in Wall Maria when he first heard of them. He was sent to a nearby Scouts base after a mission ended terribly. Most of his comrades had died, even his two friends. Levi didn’t elaborate on their deaths.

The blonde sighed. This man couldn’t catch a break.

As he healed, he used that spare time laying on his bed to write more frequently. He avoided mentioning Farlan and Isabel much, something Cora expected, but wrote about the battle nevertheless. As a result of everything he had seen, his nightmares became more frequent. He never described what he dreamt about, but she suspected it wasn’t any good. Or else, he wouldn’t be wandering around the base at night.

Levi complained about having to use a clutch because of his broken foot. He also complained about his comrades’ chatter and the state his room was when he first got there. Those days nobody talked much to him; he probably made sure of that with his grumpy nature. He focused on cleaning and organizing his room, writing in his journal and trying to use his foot again as his healing progressed. Levi wondered how much time he would have to endure the war.

If she remembered correctly, it had a few more years left and Levi did not. Whatever happened to him in December of that year wouldn’t be pretty.

His hatred for the clutch ceased once he got rid of it, now being able to walk without it. Only a slight limp lingered, but he didn’t seem to care. Levi briefly commented his superiors were somewhat astonished by his fast recovery. Soon enough, he was tasked with maintenance in the workshop of the base. He was introduced to some other soldiers once he began working, who were also in the last stages of healing. He didn’t seem too fond of any of them at the beginning. Levi showed his disinterest in them and his desire to be on his own in the notebook, which didn’t surprise Cora much. It actually took him a month to warm up to them, she noticed. He started appreciating Petra’s sweet and hard-working nature, Gunther’s reasonableness and Eld’s humor. There wasn’t much to like about Oluo, with the exception of when he would hit his head with something when they worked.

In the course of the next few weeks, Levi had fully recovered and managed to get used to his new routine. Aside from fixing and maintaining the vehicles, his team and he were tasked with scouting missions from time to time. Levi was designated captain and his squad was transferred to the Scouts Headquarters in Shiganshina shortly after.

Cora finally found something for her research purposes. Initially, she wanted the journal to feed her curiosity and maybe use it for her history paper. But now she was invested in Mikasa’s dead relative and, by the looks of it, she might have just read the majority of the journal for nothing. There wasn’t much about what she was looking for. Levi didn’t write about the country’s situation, it was just his personal matters, which was why it bothered Cora so much. At least, Levi wrote more about the military in the latter entries, but the invasion of privacy was done.

As she continued reading, something else caught her attention.
