“ oh come on princess you know plenty of places” Eddie scoffs at me “ your brothers have plenty of weapons” he adds looking at me as a shiver travels through me “ are you seriously thinking of the war zone are you crazy” I look up at him my hand hitting his arm “ that place is full of cops, crazies and weirdos if we go there we’re gonna get caught Eds ” I snap looming over him slightly as I stand up “ but it’s got everything we will need y/n we can stay out of sight, they will go in” he points at the others as I look at them I see Steve nodding enthusiastically “ fine but we’re gonna need a way to get there” I huff blowing a stray haircut my face as Eddie jumps to his feet wrapping his arm around my waist “ don’t worry baby that’s my speciality” he winks teasingly at me making me grown as we start walking out into the middle of no where. 

We make it to the trailer park where we see the motor home that’s usually parked out the back the place is owned by two anger hicks who are sat outside drinking beer and smoking god knows what as all ways. As we finally pull through entering the upside down everything is dark the air is cold and everything feels different. I wipe the water from my eyes instantly spotting Robin and Nancy fighting these flying creatures while Steve lays in the floor bleeding “ what the fuck” I mutter as Eddie rushes towards the fight swinging an ore at the creatures swatting them away  as I run to Nancy helping her with the ones surrounding Steve.

As Nancy gets attacked from behind the bats getting closer Robin rushes to get pulling at its tail I stand back staring as she struggles “ FUCK” I hear Eddie screech as he slams the bat down to the ground using his ore, I can’t help but feel this strange twinge of gilt go through me as I watch slightly frozen to the spot. Steve finally squirms out of the choke hold he was In slamming the bat down to the floor leaving it to die “ thanks for the help there girly” he glares at me slightly “ what the fuck was i meant to do” I snap “ I tried didn’t I “ I sigh as he spits blood out his mouth 

As we stand together moving closer taking in our surroundings as Nancy checks out Steve’s injuries giving us a chance to catch catch our breath, an angry swarm of bats fly about the tree tops in a dark cloud.

  “ shit there’s too many of them “ I sigh looking up at the sky as they get closer gathering around the gate “ woods come on” Nancy yells running towards the trees us following soon behind her trying to retreat from the growing swarm circling from above. 

As we make it into the trees I huddle up to Eddie holding onto his arm tightly as red lightning strikes through the sky making me jump “ fuck this creepy shit man “ I slap his arm slightly “ why did we need to get dragged into this “ I ask pushing him slightly “ hey! Enough don’t go blaming me for this princess I didn’t want this as much as you did but here we are” he reaches out slighting his hand stroking my cheek gently “ now calm down” I take a deep breath nodding “ you’re right sorry” I sigh as I turn to the others who are hunched on the ground helping bandage Steve’s wounds. 

I walk over to them reaching into my pocket getting a flask of alcohol out “ this could help clean the wound” I pass it to Nancy “ thanks” she nods at me giving me a flat smile before turning her attention to Steve  cleaning him up before tightly wrapping his wounds with a piece of her shirt.  

Eddie draws our attention back as he climbs ontop of the rock staring up at the sky “ so this place is like hawking but with monsters and scary shit” he asks turning back to Nancy his eyebrows furrowed “ yeh pretty much “ she sighs helping Steve to his feet “ just watch out for the bones it’s all a hive mind “ I shake my head confused “ a what?” I ask as Eddie tries to climb down “ all the creepy crawlies around here, they’re like one or something “ Steve explains “ your step on a vine , a bat you’re also stepping on vecna “ I gasp slightly “ so dose that mean if we killed one of those bat thingys we killed a part of vecna” I smile full of hope as he shakes his head “ I don’t think it work like that girly “ my face drops as i take eddies arm again trying to keep myself as close to him as possible. 

“ so everything from our world is still here right all except people” Robin asks looking at Nancy and Steve “ as far as we understand “ she looks at her confused “ that means we can go to the police station get guns, traps and grenades attack those bat things and get out of here” Robin smiles hero g extremely enthusiastic “ we don’t need to go down town to get guns. I have guns at my house in my best ” Nancy beams finally figuring out a plan “ you Nancy wheeler have guns plural in your bedroom “ Eddie scoffs “ wow this girls full of surprises “ I giggle “ right why are we still standing around let’s go, let’s go” I demand starting to walk as the ground starts to shake violently causing me to fall straight onto my bruised ribs and whine In pain “ shit” I mutter as I pull myself back up “ yeh guns sound like a pretty good idea to me” Eddie adds his breath fast and raspy Robin flat against is chest quickly agrees.

Soon enough we’re walking through the upside down making our way to the wheeler’s residence, the cold dark air brings a sense of unease especially with the sudden screeches from the unknown. I slowly start to wander behind, while Eddie and Steve are chatting, looking around the area taking in the over grown vines and the mysterious things growing through out this hell dimension but for some odd reason I can’t help but be fascinated by it all as I hear a whisper in the distance distract me “ Y/N come to me” I turn round stopping completely staring looking around frantically as it calls me again. 

Suddenly I’m pulled back to reality by an earth quake as I fall back onto the floor struggling to hold on to keep myself up right I hear Eddie yell “ here we go  again” as he and Steve crash down onto each other making me giggle as Eddie latches onto him once the tremmer is over Eddie brushes himself off like nothing has happened all in go over to me, “ princess come on catch up” Eddie yells back finally noticing how far away from the group I’ve gotten a small smirk comes across his face as I run to him taking his hand in mine “ what were you looking at back their” he questions I shake my head “ oh nothing just observing” i smile slightly “ don’t you think it’s crazy this has been under us for god knows how long and we’re only just realising” I look at him wide eyed “ yeah it’s mad” he chuckles “ you seem enthusiastic by it all” I nod slightly “I feel like I’m on some heavy trip “ I hold into his arm “ like is a bad dream” he kisses my fore head “ come on we’re nearly there then we can finally get out of here” he pulls me forward as his pace fastens to stick with the rest of the group. 

“ we’re here” Nancy turns round to look at us to check we’re all there before turning back round to see the gathering of houses in the opening “ let’s go, as soon as we get in and get out the better” Steve whispers loudly to us as we start to move towards the door of the strangely familiar house and Nancy opens the door with a loud echoing creek. 

“ god this place looks decrepit “ I mutter looking round “ might be time to get a made wheeler” robin jokes as Nancy rushes towards the stares “ come on j don’t want to stay here longer than we have to” she snaps as she goes towards her bedroom Eddie and Robin following her while I stay down stares with Steve looking around.

“ can you here that” Steve asks looks g down at me a distant mutter floats through the air drawing us towards the dining area “ yeh “ I walk closer looking around “ hello hello “ Steve yells his voice queer and on edge “ Dustin can you hear me dustin” I look at him “ Steve they can’t hear us” I look at him as everyone runs down the stares staring at us “ hello hello “ he continues to yell “ Steve what are you doing” Nancy asks reaching out to touch Steve’s arm “ he’s here that little shit she’s here “ he rambles “ in the walls or something just listen” he pulls her into the centre of the room where we can hear the voices loud and clear 

We all start to yell out trying to reach the other side, but it seems they continue to ignore us or just can’t hear us in general no matter how much we yell “  alright either this kid can’t hear us or he’s being a total douche bag” Steve lets out a deep sigh “ Will found a way he found a way to communicate to Joyce” Nancy behind starting to pace around the room “ okay? I feel like the crazy bug is just spreading” a joke slightly letting out a loose scoff as his hand envelopes mine squeezing it gently “ through the lights” Nancy rushes towards a lamp fiddling with the switch trying to turn it on “lights?” I ask  as she continues to fiddle with the switches “ shit it’s not working” she slams her hand on the table disappointedly as Steve turns around his touch catching onto something shiny I step towards it “ do you see that?” Steve questions “ it’s like magic” I matter to myself quietly reaching out to touch it before Eddie pulls my hand back down “ don’t touch things. When You don’t know what they are.” He lectures as he looks at Steve “ what is that” he questions his voice full of confusion “ I don’t know” he shrugs waking towards the light soon prodding it with his finger causing it to light up “ whoa” Eddie stares soon reaching up to do the same “ it kinda tickles” Steve states reaching in further causing it to light up brighter “ does anyone know morse code” Nancy asks getting a chorus of no’s in response “ wait Eddie you know sos” I look at him “ oh yeah that count” he looks over at Nancy “ yeh “ she nods enthusiastically “ go on do it “ she demands slightly as he starts to tap SOS onto the light over and over. 

“ it’s working” Robin whispers quietly as the other side finally come to a realisation of what has happened I squeal “ they know, they’ll find us” I get excited kissing eddies cheek passionately while Robin and Nancy rush up stares following the voices around the house. “ that’s my clever man” he wraps his arms around me holding me close “ come on you two they haven’t done anything yet” Steve sighs looking over at us “ it’s good to celebrate the small things” I smirk looking over at Steve “ it’s a start if something bigger” Eddie adds burryjng his head into the crook of my neck peppering gentle kisses along my collar bone. 

“ guys come on we’ve found a way to communicate “ robin yells causing us to pull away from each other and go up to the others where both Robin and Nancy staring at an empty space on the bed “ this is no time to play children” I tease “ no times for jokes y/n” Nancy snaps causing me to go silent and sit next to them. We hear Dustin call out as a section of the bed lights up “ okay you guys seeing this” his voice is distant but clear as he questions Nancy runs her finger across the lit up space causing strange glitter to appear as I sit back in shock my head resting against Eddie’s shoulder as he anxiously bites the dry skin on his lip. 

“ holy shit” we hear and an extreme cackle of excitement “ ok we’re gonna unplug it stand by” Dustin confirmed as the light fades slightly “ get it now” he asks as Nancy runs her hand along it  spelling out the words hi “ it worked” he confirms more causing us to get a buzz of excitement “ come on let’s get to the point” I look at them as Nancy glares over her shoulder at me she spells the word stuck “ you can’t get back out water gate” he questions “ what the hells water gate” Steve looks confused “ the gate cause it’s in water” Robin adds looking over at him. 

Nancy hesitates for a second thinking of what’s next before spelling “ it’s guarded” “ ok water gates guarded we think we have a theory about that Watergate is not just the only gate there’s a gate at every murder site” I sit back “ what “ I sigh “ does anyone understand what he’s saying” Nancy shakes her head slightly before drawing a question mark “ good how on the point do I have to be before you guys trust” Dustin whinges both Eddie and Steve lean back letting out a grown “ for God sake this boy needs to get his ego check” Steve grumbles getting a small chuckle from Eddie.

“ how far is your trailer, Eddie?” Nancy asks “ about 7 miles” he sit back slightly looking at Nancy “ Nancy? I know your house is like frozen in time and that, but haven’t you always had” Robin asks reading her hands on her head deep in thought as Nancy jumps to her feet “ if we travelled to Eddie’s trailer, we can get out” she smiles excitedly “ right but what is the bats? Find us?” I ask hesitantly as Nancy roll to rise at me again “ we’ll have to think about that when it happens” she sighs writing out the words trailer park before she walks out her room going down towards the garage to gather the bikes. 

As we get down there there’s only one bike left “ I’ll sit in the back” I look at Eddie “ you sure about that sweetheart” he frowns as I nod climbing onto the back of the bike holding onto his shoulders tightly “ just cycle Ed’s baby I’ll hold on I got good grip “ I reassure him as we all take off out of the house and onto the main roads watching the hoard of bats crowd around this creepy old house their wild shrieking fills the air with thunder crashes and lightning strikes causing everyone to pedal faster “ come on Ed’s were nearly there baby” I whisper to him, motivating him to go faster as we enter the trailer park there’s an odd mist in the air causing bile to rise in my throat as anxiety rushes through me they same whisper fills the air casing me to stare off into the distance my grip on eddie tightening “ come to me y/n” I shake my head “ you ok  “ Eddie asks as he stops the bike perking out outside our trailer “ mhm” I mumble climbing off the back walking towards tge steps giving the door a hard pull causing it to fly open “ home sweet home “ I smile as I step into the decrepit little trailer soon followed by the others “ this isn’t much different to how it’s usually” a joke looking back at Eddie as he shakes his head and rolls his eyes “ it’s not that messy” he smirks pulling me into his chest making me giggle his hot breath hits my face as he kisses my head gently.

Finally I look up a strange opening in the ceiling of the living room glowing red making a strange crackling noise right in the spot where Chrissy died “ goddamn” Steve stares in disbelief “ this is where Chris died directly where she died” Eddie hisses through gritted teeth as Robin steps forward staring at gate “ I think there’s something in there moving” we will stare up at it as we see a strange dark shadow form prodding at the glowing red opening slowly breaking through “ what the hell is that?” Steve asks stepping back slightly.

As the gate suddenly bursts open causing a sort of jump back allowed scream escape from Robin making me jump even more further back into Eddie’s chest his hands tightening around me trying to protect me from whatever is to come. 

Steve steps forward ready to face what ever is there but I stay back clinging to Eddie for security as a familiar voice calls out “ hey guys “ we all look up there is Dustin and two others stood on the other side we all wave in slight shock as Dustin laughs a beaming smile on his face . “ wait there we’ll find a way to get you out” he states searching around our trailer grabbing blankets and sheets tying them together to create a rope then graving the mattress revealing the stains and marks covering it making me smirk to myself gibing a small glance at Eddie who lets out a nervous chuckle “ those stains are “ he hesitates nervously “ I don’t know what they are” he looks over at me as I burst into fits of laughter as everyone looks at him disgustedly.

“ i’m not sure how this physics is going to work but will give it a go” Dustin exclaims tossing the rope through the gate some how it holds the rope floats in mid air holding through both sides of the gate “ wow impressive “ i look at it tilting my head slightly reaching out to give it a tug to test it “ it seems to work” i smile looking round “ who first” Eddie asks  looking around “ guess I’m the guinea pig” Robin suggest climbing up the rope slowly making her way through the gate as she makes it through It looks as if she’s upside down as she tumbles onto the mattress finding herself safely in our world “ oh my God, that was fun” she sighs in relieve as she moves of the mattress making room for the next person. 

As I make my way to hold onto the rope I hear the voices again calling me I look around again this time they’re louder deeper more demanding calling over and over again “ you ok sweetheart you gonna go” Eddie asks resting his hand on my shoulder “ can’t you hear that” I mutter quietly “ hear what” he asks confused by it all. 

as he looks at me his face goes slightly Pale as a red trickle of blood falls from my nose “ ok baby you need to go ok we can sort this once we’re there” he hoists me up onto the other side as I tumble down to the other side I let out a sheik as I keep falling into the darkness never landing till a clawed hand lands onto my shoulder his deep voice causing goose bumps to cover my body “ you’ll be perfect “ it’s as if my mouth is sewed shut I can’t say anything I can’t move all I can do is stand and stare into the darkness “ you’ll come to me soon y/n, once Hawkins is crumbling and everything is destroyed you shall be mine” then the hand disappears from my shoulder images flash before my eyes of Hawkins full of gates burning fires everyone gone and then the ups down full of monsters a dark shadow stands in front of me her feminine figure with dark hair over her face as she lunges at me causing me to crash back to reality landing on the mattress with a gasp tears start to run down my face as i hyperventilate. 

“ shit y/n you ok” Dustin rests his hand in my shoulder I flinch away “ no don’t touch me” I back myself into a corner tucking my legs into my chest as Eddie jumps through the gate rushing to me quickly “ what is it sweetheart “ he kneels next to me “ I don’t know what happened “ I mutter quietly looking at him with glistening eyes full of tears “ one second I was here the next I was in darkness” I shake my head slightly “ he had his hand on my shoulder he was talking to me” “ who” Eddie asks his voice panicked “ i dont know Eddie “ I whimper as I burst into tears he pulls me close holding me to his chest listening to his heart beat “you’re ok princess you’re safe now” he reassures me hushing me quietly till Steve and Nancy are both through the gate.

Everyone stands in front of us full of concern I burry my head into eddies chest “ I saw horrible things Hawkins in ruins everyone gone and the monsters where everywhere“ I mutter to him tears dripping down my cheeks soaking his top as he runs his hand through my hair “ Eddie I’m scared “ he nods “ I know angel I know” he holding me in his strong arms keeping me secure“ I won’t let anyone hurt you not even this vecna creep I swear on my life” he places a kiss on my head letting me rest in his arms for the rest of the night while him and the others discuss what happens next.

Whos watching life in Hawkins??

This hit me earlier when I realized all four stories of st4 had someone/ something being a know-it-all god or a heterodiagetic narrator watching and knowing everything all at once.

But not everywhere (pun intended)

All four storylines have both types of narrators:

A homodiegetic one, this being a character involved in the story and showing their prescription of things

A heterodiagetic one, aka the know-it-all god, recording and watching all the other characters.

Homodiegetic:

For the Hawkins plot it was max. For California it was Will and Mike. For the lab it was eleven, and for the prison it was Hopper (and I think Joyce on her way there, since the prison plot is somehow separate from Joyce and Yuri's plot).

I can tell, because we SEE all of those characters feelings displayed on screen in one way or another. Max was curious during the curse, therefore bringing the whole team together, Wills lingering in California was also shown through him only, Hopper's desparation and fear for joyce not making it safe ect.

The only one I'm on the fence about is Mike, since the last time we got a scene from his prospective was in s2 or at the rain fight in s3 I think. Aka, Mike's pov was not shown enough in s4, but it was there.

Heterodiagetic narrator:

This might sound tricky at first but it's not. Even though this narrator is not supposed to be a character at all: instead, they're just a messenger who convey the story from the writer to the reader (as all narrators do). They're a ghost, an entity, aka the camera of the characters.

But in this case, the narrator is in the show. Each plot has its own one, and that's what considered a god of their own nature.

I realized this from the security cameras and the memory storage of Brenner in Nina scenes. He was keeping and choosing which ones to show to El, aka choosing her path instead of her, which becomes clear in the show later on.

In Alaska, there was also security footage to which jopper had also access to later on.

As for California, they were also recorded/watched at some point. When? Right before the shooting.

The jokes about house arrest in this scene made me think the guards that were supposed to keep them same weren't just sitting, they were most likely recording the activity in the house due to protocol (at least i wanna believe it, considering Mike's house was anf might still be bugged since the end of s1 and the flashbacks in s2).

Also, in the van, they were most likely watched by El after she gained her powers.

And if all of these plots were watched by someone, then who was watching Hawkins?

Vecna.

I realized it from this video; vecna was legit searching for a source, another mind to curse in order to complete his plan.

The camera panning made me think he had access to anyone he wanted to. He could've chosen literally anyone in replacement of mike, but he went for Patrick instead.

Why? Because he knew he was in the same group with Lucas and Jason. As we saw, attacking Patrick triggered not just these two, but in total five people and the entire Hawkins team.

And became the wirters chose to plot wise.

My point is, the dynamics changed after his death, even in the slightest, bringing Lucas closer to max.

Now, because these gods are characters too, their own thoughts may interviene with what we see/ are shown, therefore leading everything back to homodiegetic or 1st person pov.

The main occupants here are Henry and of course, Brenner. Its like a domino effect, once brenner was watching one and now one is watching hawkins.

Their motives also beg to differ; Brenner was focusing more and only on logic, hence one disobeyed that rule and only relied on emotions, especially anger, to get his powers to their fullest potential, and thats what he also taught eleven.

But the main know it all god; The Mindflayer.

It literally watches everyone. Dustin said it himself:

A five star general that can open gates and watch. Tell us just His side of the story, messing with others memories, especially Wils, and everything related to him and el.

Aka, he can just change every detail he wants simply because he was watching.

Because his lenses were stronger than the other characters, and becuase he had and still has a devoted spy. A spy that can absorb information from inside.

And that spy is Will. even in season 4, even in the byler scenes, EVERYWHERE.

That kiiinda sounds like a hyperboly, but because the connection was there, it doesnt mean it was strong. The closer he got to hawkins, the stroger it got, thats why he felt him so intenesely at the cabin.

And here comes the unreliable narrator.

Most scenes are not shown excactly how things happen. Theyre not objective, theyre subjective, given how at least one persons pov is always involved.

This is also why there are a lot of variations of just one memory, why the void version of their timeline is slightly differrent, and why even though will saw mileven happy during the rinkomania skating scenes, an outsiders pov showed how they actually felt, dissapointed by everything.

One other thing id like to add, will MIGHT be playing the god role here too, taking in mind his ongoing connection with vecna and how this could eventually be displayed in vecnas mind if he wanted to. Hence the whole spy thing.

There was a post i read about El trading places with max and exchaging herself with a variant from another timeline, and that adds another layer to the unreliable narrator imo, thinking how the two days later el has different memories and knowledge than the el we knew from before and is now possibly dead.

The thing is, this unreliable narrator thing has SO many layers, and therfore shapes somewhat smalll plot holkes within scenes, especially in s1,2 and 4.

And it got even messier im 3 given hoe focusing solely on the mainstream 80's summer slasher movie vibe, some characters arcs were lost or outshined by others that had the chance to change their arcs for the better.

Yes, im talking about will who was sidelined a lot and then this was decided to be used as a weapon for the connection between him and the ud.

All the arcs are intertwined, but i CANT solve this untill we get s5. Its honestly frustrating like GIMME THE SOLUTION BRUHHHH

Eddie slams his lips to Steve’s.

Vecna: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Eddie: *breaks the kiss* This is what you wanted me to do!

Vecna: Kill! I want you to KILL him! NOT KISS!

Eddie: I'm still hearing kiss! *turns to Steve* I'm not sure why he wants this to happen, but I guess it's happening!

Steve: I've got no complaints.

Vecna: MUNSON! I WANT YOU TO FUCKING MURDER HIM!

Eddie: *gasps* You want me to FUCK him? In front of the kids?! Henry! You kinky son of a bitch!

Vecna: I WANT YOU TO END HIS LIFE.

Eddie: You want me to make him my wife?! Okay, whatever you say, Henry. *Gets down on one knee* Steve Whatever Your Middle Name Is Harrington, will you be my wife?

Steve: Yeah. Okay. I'm not doing anything important right now.

Vecna sighed and turned to El.

Vecna: Okay. You can kill me now.
