my new uni (where i'm starting my phd??!! still wow) has really strong exchange programmes and fellowship opportunities so my (very cool but also very scary) supervisor was like “since half your research is centered around england and you’ve got a solid academic cv you should definitely apply to be a visiting scholar at oxford or cambridge at some point."
and now i’m just sitting here like… am i about to live my babel by rf kuang fantasy?? my dark academia dream?? will i at some point be whimsically frolicking around oxbridge in a too-long coat, clutching obscure monographs in beautiful historical libraries??? doing my phd at some of the most prestigious universities in the world??

there is just something about the difference between edwin's love interests and having the cat king's reaction to edwin in hell being "i'll be waiting when he gets back" vs charles "no version of this where i don't come get you" rowland convincing a powerful trans-dimensional being to open a door to hell just so he could get him back
