I renewed Thistle's reference!
I'm extremely happy with how far he has gone in this whole year even if I kept most of the info reduced to a very small circle. Not only Basil and her have had the most OC develpment I made in a long while, but this visual improvement is not just because I've learnt more technical stuff. It's because of all the small details that got slowly added and made both characters feel actually alive for me. Thanks for all the good times Inksy, from the bottom of my heart
Note 1: The foot spikes are spurs. That's right, they were a part of his body all along
Note 2: Creating a new species is already a big challenge, but a new species set in the Cookie Run universe sets the bar even higher. The simple art style of the game, even if creature designs have more detail than everything else the bigger they get sets up an important question: How much is "too much detail"? I've struggled to draw his alternate form a lot of time not because of skill limitations, but because I wanted to find a point where he looked simplified enough to blend in with the general style of the game. I still have a long way ahead, but even if he's not perfect I did the best I could do rn, and this time I'm actually happy with the result tbh.

Final evaluation
This project has been a really inspiring experience. I have managed to fulfil all of the aims I started with and have learned so much about the industry that I’d like to go into.
I initially started looking at the things women hold physically and metaphorically which led to my research on womens pcoekts, as often women are not able to carry what they own. Despite not pursuing half of this idea, this research fueled my work to produce an outcome that touches on those issues, but not as explicitly as first intended,
Despite the change in my learning agreement, I still managed to touch on important issues that I began with. The lack of functional pockets contributes to the labour women have to endure, so solving this one small issue would theoretically lesson the burden. Focusing soley on the introduction of functional pockets for women was one of the best decsiions I made in progresssing my work, as it allowed me to provide a simple and achivble solution to a problem I had outlined.
I have learned how to successfully conduct interviews which was one of the main driving forces for my project. I found it insightful to gain primary research from individuals like Amanda Fletcher but also my family and peers. Interviewing women brought important insight that helped guide my outcome. I was made aware of issues I hadn’t considered and was able to solve issues that were brought to light during my interactions.
During my project, I had moments where I struggled to come up with my aim. I was always clear about the subject matter I wanted to cover, however coming up with a specific call to action, target audience and solution proved difficult as there were so many options for me to choose from.
To alleviate this, I found documenting each of my ideas through quick illustrations incredibly useful, some of which I have added to this process book. While they seem frivolous, drawing out each idea, no matter how far-fetched or silly, meant I could reflect on all my options visually, and decide on the ones that would be best to visually communicate my idea. As well as this, I valued asking my course mates for their advice as gaining an ‘outsiders’ perspective, helped to remove any bias I may have. I have found being surrounded by so many talented designers truly inspiring and their input and advice has been invaluable to this project.
Having resrrahce a variety of camapigns which gave me both visual and conceptual isnpration, I was then able to succesfully plan my time. I worked backwards from the deadline which then allowed me to crete ‘to do lists’ daily to sensure I remined on track. This also kept in mind the main outcomes I wanted to create which included my pocket tester, a few OOH examples and most importantly, my presenration video. I ammaged to not only stay on track, but create my rpesentation video in time for the Creative Conscience dealdine which was on April 28th.
DUring the outcome production, my adverts went trhough many differernt varatoins as i wanted to ensure the copy was legible and my message was understood clearly.
The final version is something I’m really proud of, it has a consistent visual language, a clear narrative and succesfully appeals to my target audience with an obvious call to action. I managed to generate two solutions, a brand championing pockets and a free how-to guide on how to extend your pockets. This variation not only proved that it can be done without cost for the customer, but also it allowed me to display my skills with different software. I used Premier Pro for my video, XD for my website, InDesign for my pocekt tester and Photoshop for the adverts. I’m glad I got to develp my skills using different softwares as I do feel more prepapred for wokr after leaving university.
I feel this project has been a well rounded experience, it has challenged my skills and ideology and I have created a series of physical and digital outcomes that I’m proud of. If I were to do this project again I think I would have trusted my insticnts more when it came to my idea, I spent a lot of time near the beginning lacking conviction and trust in my idea, despite wanting to do my project about pockets from the very start. If I had more faith in my process, I wouldve come to a lot of my realisations sooner. Despite this, I am still grattful for the resrach that came out of that period of procrastiantion, I was still able to explore all the possibilities I wanted to and crate an outcome that I love.

Out of respect of current/future players, and to the developer, I won’t be posting spoiler images BUT I will be discussing minor spoilers so reader beware.
Heheheheeh y’alllll.
So Chronicle 1 has two routes available to play: The Nightmare Prince and Victor. Also known as the last two routes I was least interested in 😂 (the plan was to do all the routes. Eventually. But I wasn’t in a rush for these fools. Except now I love them both???)
On The Nightmare Prince:
I GOT THE GOOD ENDING ON THE FIRST TRY, SUCK IT!!!
Ahem...I mean, TNP is an utter sweetheart, I would die for him, his VA did an amazing job bringing him to life, and the CGsssssssss ahhhhhhhhh I’m so soft 🥺
This route also really deals with ableism in a way I haven’t see much in the visual novel space, and I’m appreciative of the direction the route took, the conversations had, and I hope other visual novels will delve into these topics too. I mean, it’s a reflection of the world around us, so why not?
But yes. I love TNP. And it’s very hard not to use his real name. Please play the route and put me out of my misery guys....
On Victor:
Ohhhhh the grumpy types. Where would the Otome genre be without them?? I love TNP but Victor’s route hit the sweet spot for me. Maybe it’s the slow(er) burn nature of this route, maybe it’s the reserved nature of Victor and watching him slowly start to care (AND NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THOSE FEELINGS TEEHEE) for me. I dunno. I was so satisfied!
While I didn’t luck out like on TNP’s route, I got the neutral ending, so I’m a little scared to replay right now in case I get the bad ending before the good ones 😭 send help!
Overall thoughts and feelings:
I’m slowly making my way through the Jellyfish Parade backlog (too many fun games, too little time 😭) and I really have to say that while wip Ocean Pearls is still my top favorite, BA comes veeeery close second! I love our girl Aureve (so much so that I didn’t even bother to change her name, nothing I came up with would have fit anyway). Romance is a huge draw for me in my gaming, but nothing makes me happier than seeing the player character have a sense of agency and purpose outside of her romance options. And between the two routes, I loved seeing her pursue her interests and the relationships she develped with the other androids.
(next stop, Diego and Roman!! 👀👀👀💛)

Research Book/Folder and Ideas Development seminar
After watching these seminars , i learnt its important to research Artist , give information about their work ,include the material / name of piece talked about and add my own opinion on their work. when given an artist to look at , i should comment on what i like and dislike to know where my interest lie and where i want my own work to go.
Research folder informs my work . I write in my notebook and on Tumblr about artist that influence my work . Thia research informs the development of my work , helping to create my idea. The idea Develpment notebook , which in my cause is a mess, contain a visual investigation to the pieces of work i create and a documentation of my ideas , This record of ideas and different paths investigated can lead to inspiration of new ideas in the future. My notebook can help critical reflection of my work , what works, what doesn't work , what need to improve on , what i need to let go of.
Over all , these a key aspects to starting and progressing with a project.

Cyberchase Develpment
- 1996 - August - Funding for research and math studies across multiple schools begins. Funding by the National Science Foundation, starting at $50,000 (NSF): https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=9612533
Concepts of Cyberchase being a game the kids get zapped into are noted, in addition to planning to have it interactive for the audience
- 1998 - January: Second stage starts, funding $450,000. NSF Site https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=9725610&HistoricalAwards=false
Although the idea of Cyberchase being a game is scrapped, the plan for making the show have the kids interact with the audience is still noted
October: Actual Animation development starts. Character designs are presented to kids, and 2 storyboard ideas are presented. One for “The Poddleville Case” Pilot we got, the other for an episode where the kids help an elephant cross a bridge Design evolution of characters from Earliest till Pilot;
Jackie (Known as Julie until 1999):
Matt (Known as Kyle dorky Moe cut pfft until 1999):
Inez (Who BARELY changed):
Buzz and Delete (kinda Ren and Stimpy esque...):
Hacker. Note he stuck with these proto designs for a long time until actual animation dev started:
More research is done to determine what station the pilot would air on, though with WNET lending support, this was mostly canned. Though “commercial breaks” for Cable/Satellite still were a thing oddly despite airing on PBS, which international airings would take advantage of for the final series
- 1999 - May: Pilot Unveiling to a select group of schools. More research and potential fine tuning is done. The idea of the kids interacting directly with the audience is scrapped...sort of
The inital Cyberchase Website on Wnet also launched!
August/September: Public pilot reveal! Aired on Twin Cities (TPT) PBS initially. Vid length 24:15 Due to executive changes, Curious Pictures doesn’t cite this as one of their works. WNET also immediately changes support to have development by Nelvana for Seasons 1-5 - 2000 -
Feb: Rushed redubbing and editing for the Pilot happens. This was done in stages due to shifting focus of 2 other episodes; “Lost My Marbles” and “Snow Day”, in addition to canon consistency Trace: Where they trace over the original animation. Sometimes they exclude frames, so Matt stops mid blink for this camera pan. Though outside sudden brightness, this is the least intrusive of reanimating. The background actually got slightly more detailed here, though with less natural lines
Overlay: where the background is spliced from original footage, but characters and objects are reanimated. Some of the splicing has disastrous artifacts, likely due to using a tape source. This was most likely the most rushed stage
Completely new:
These scenes noticeably had flatter perspective. In addition to being the brightest of all footage
Then the last stages, you have random scenes where they look WAY more like final series, like this shot (note 5 fingers). Not sure why it’s faded, but some unedited Pilot footage reused DID have hue color issues, so it could just be time crunch
Compared to Pilot* footage (To my guess that this is unedited visually as of the creation of this post unless debunked, note 4 fingers and wackier proportions)
Remember when I said “sort of” for forgetting to have the kids interact with the audience? Wnet added a live action scene after the animation, where the host (Kareem Blackwell) would talk to the audience about a related math concept. Here they show rhythmic clapping
This inclusion cut off around 2 min of the animation, and the live action actor is different than final series
Meanwhile despite the edits to the pilot, we’ll focus on..
March: Funding for Nelvana, now $2,972,045, for development of 25 new episodes: https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=9909404&HistoricalAwards=false
The Storyboard phase for the first 3 episodes, Lost My Marbles and Snow Day have started. Similar to before, researchers present the voiced storyboards to students to see the response. Interestingly despite being the first developed, Lost My Marbles would continue to be rewritten until 2001, possibly to include the new character Digit, and the scrapping of a scene. I won’t go into details of what differs in the storyboard compared to final, but it explains the rushed nature of the first episode compared to others if they kept rewriting the script till that late
In addition, the heavily edited Pilot aired. It’s unknown if this was before or after Chris Lloyd voices Hacker, though most likely everyone else was redubbed at this point
September: The old Cyberchase site is finally discontinued. All that’s left was this Logo
Fun thing, this font is the same one used for the Ice Age Movies
- 2001 -
June: Around 14 episodes are done by this stage. Castleblanca is in the final storyboard stages, with it fully presented to a select group again.
December: A New PBS Kids Cyberchase website launches! Lore of Hacker and Digit are viewable as interactive Webisodes
- 2002 -

January: Final 2002 series airs! Live Action segments feature Mathew Wilson and Bianca DeGroat and Bianca. Gilbert Gottfried and Chris Lloyd noted as recurring voices. All future broadcasts since of Ep 7 are of the edited pilot
Though despite researching, I never did find out whether the pilot was initially cel animated or not. Or well, the entire unedited pilot..

Hello Jen! I'm a 21 y/o closeted bi girl. I've never dated another woman because I'm scared to approach other girls & also be outed. My question is, how can I tell if a girl I'm into is LGBT? How can I signal to them that I am? So many cute girls are straight. It sucks. Thank you, lots of love!
Hi..you might not be in the closet as much as you think. Gaydar is a real thing and lesbians and other bi women do pick up on that vibe.. but you might not be giving them enough visual confirmation. Try something subtle.. a rainbow bracelet or necklace. It can be simple.. does not have to be too bold.
Gaydar can develp over time.. but you have to listen to it and confirm with visual cues. Look for rainbow or the bi colors, jewelry, socks.. a button on a back pack.
Smile at the women and look her in the eyes… if there is a small nod or eye contact is maintained a little longer… that might be your clue.
If nothing else.. if they smil back say “hi”. At worst, the say “hi” back and move on. At best.. you start a conversation and you gain a friend or potentially end up asking for a date.
You will find that once you meet more bi and lesbian women, straight women loose much of their appeal. We seem almost genetically programmed to like women who like women once we figure out how to tell one from the other.
Search the Tag “gaydar” in my blog. There is a great story of my friend who is bi and how we became friends because she set my gaydar off.

EPM Project Brief
Networking, Research & Development
We first came up with a range of ideas as a group, to see what networking issues we could resolve as a student. We started to generate a variety of different ideas. But we lent towards a tinder style app. Where employees find employers to work with via a swipe method similar to dating apps.
To get a bit of a better understanding of networking I’m going to look at some networking apps to see what they offer. I came across a selection of apps which focus on networking. I found one called bumble buzz.
“In a nutshell: Swipe right on professional connections you’d like to make, and if you’re a woman—be the first to make a move (or not). Best for: Women who have had negative experiences where networking turned into something uncomfortable”
This idea that bumble buzz offers to women making it easier to network in a more comfortable space. Which is a great example to look at which shows that our idea can be successful. But other competitor apps. Another app I looked at is linkedln which we have all heard of,
“In a nutshell: Find and connect with people on the world’s largest professional network. Best for: Anyone who wants to have the largest pool of professionals to connect with”
The idea of combing employees and employers together in letting them network and communicate within a tinder style app. I’m going to research into what makes a successful dating app. Although a lot have the same features looking at different apps will help us see what they do successfully so that we can include and tweak to make our app successful and stand out.
NOTICE TRENDS, WHAT WORKS & WHAT’S MISSING
Your users, as well as users of other dating apps, will always let you know what they want. Listen to them, learn from them and give them what they want, not what you hope they will want.
For instance, Tinder’s mutual match was actually not a revolutionary idea. The dating service Badoo already had it as a secondary function and under the name “Encounters.” But because it was not a primary function, it was rarely utilized and therefore didn’t create many matches. Whether Tinder was inspired by Badoo or not isn’t something we claim to know, but it would certainly make sense—and it would be a wise move on Tinder’s part.
Using competition and competition’s user reviews as inspiration, especially when building a new app, helps you understand the market and your target audience. Add this to your own user testing, and you’ve got a well-research product that can confidently hit the market.
One trend occurring right now is the interesting case of Instagram, which has naturally transformed into a dating platform. This is because it’s actually quite similar to Tinder—with its high-quality visual content, visible user interests, a secure space where profile information acts as a sort of background check, and its follow/follow back process being similar to Tinder’s matching feature.
Taking this into consideration, perhaps there is room to innovate further. It’s all about connecting the dots and producing the next best thing.
This article talks about what works and what doesn't within a dating app at the moment. What I picked out from the article I feel like the visual aspects of dating apps which Instagram is which is becoming more and more like a dating app. Where you can see others images and interests and can easily message them via direct message. Which will be an important part of our app we will create. Focussing on the visual aspects of work between employers and employees.
https://www.strv.com/blog/what-makes-successful-dating-app-by-develpers-whove-built-15-of-them-product
https://krisp.ai/blog/best-networking-apps/
Our second workshop was about creating a persona / identity of someone who would benefit from the app. We looked at our our persona Jack who's goals was to reach out to creative agencies but wasn’t sure how too. He also wants to find a suitable career. However as he wants to do these things he finds it hard to due to to lack of agency platforms. Whist finding it hard to reach out to people. So creating an app around helping people who find it hard to reach out is our main goal. This workshop was useful in gathering information about someone so that creating an app around there's and others similar needs helping the to succeed and reach out.

The next workshop was about creating a wireframe for our app so we could grasp a clearer understanding on what each page would look like. Showing what goes where on each part of the app. Which we sketched out roughly so that we could create them and improve them digitally from these rough examples.

We came up with a plan of how we are going to split the student log in, with the employer log in. This was useful so that we could create the wireframes which will both intertwine with each other. We then split and drew out our own wire frames so that we could bring them together and take parts we liked from each rough example and start creating the digital examples. We also came up with a name Folio which comes from portfolio. This name relates to our app by how the app is used for students to display there work in a portfolio style where employers can view students work, to possibly & collaborate with.

Some wireframes I came up with showing a few stages of the student log in and profile as you sign up and upload your work onto the app. So that employers can see your work. Here is how the app works.
