Just wrote a little pacific rim au and it didn't end well 😬 (not surprised, but still...)
Chris ,the one time maybe after that very very bad fire where Ron just take off and runs inside, when Chris's captain is so very sure he just found someone worse than both chros and Dave together. Chris can't contact tom. Be it in the threesome au or not, he tries to call him in every way he can think of, tom must know what happened, and better if its from him rather than whoever. But tom never answer.
He ends up calling mav.he panics, Ron is not doing well, jake is home, and Tom is just nowhere to be found, chris can't do it alone.
Mav didn't expect to get a phone call like that, he half think that chris is exaggerating things a bit, before showing up and uh..he was not exaggerating--
(Oh my god I love pacific rim au’s please write more.)
Threesome au brain rot is still strong in my head soo.
Chris has been at the hospital for most of the morning. He can’t get ahold of Tom. He’s supposed to be in his office all day. Jake is home with his sister.
He’s pacing back and forth. Ron is still unconscious. Has burns on his hands and left leg. A broken rib and three fingers.
Chris desperately needs Tom there with him. Tommy who still doesn’t know what happened. Who always thought stressing about Chris getting burned was bad but now? Ron too? Jesus.
He’s running back through all the places Tom could be when he thinks of Mav.
Wonderful Mav.
He punches in the numbers, it rings. Please god pick up.
“Hello this is Pete?”
Chris sobs he can’t help it, “Mav Ron is in the hospital I can’t get ahold of Tom. Where the hell is he?”
Theres a beat, “he’s in the air. I’ll get him back down don’t worry about it. How’s Ron?”
Chris shakes his head before remembering Mav can’t see him. “Bad. Had worse. But this is bad. Jake’s at home.”
“We can probably be there in two hours?” “Great thank you.”
Chris hangs up. He goes back over to the chair and collapses next to David. He’s instantly pulled under his arm. “You doin okay? Able to call Tom?” Chris shakes his head, he scrubs at his face. God he can’t keep crying. “No and no, had to call Mav. Said they’ll be here in two hours.”
David nods. “Wanna go home and see Jake? It’s only a twenty minute drive?” Chris shudders. “If I see Jake right now I won’t be able to keep it together. Oh Christ does that make me a horrible dad?”
David laughs. He kisses the side of Chris’s head, “doll if you were a horrible dad you wouldn’t of thought of that. You’re fine. It’ll be okay.”
———
Tom comes running down the hallway. Mav is a few steps behind him because he’s shorter. He sees Chris curled asleep in David’s lap, “how bad?” David shakes his head “bad. But no surgeries.” Mav lets out a sigh. “Can I see him.” “Room 210.”
Tom slowly walks over to that room. He opens the door prepared for the worst. He’s met with a leg wrapped in wound care. Theres a hand in a cast as far as he can see. Ron looks peaceful.
It’s unnatural.
Tom collapses into the chair next to the bed, “Christ Ron. You can’t do that when I’m not here. Can’t do that to us.”
He takes Rons unburned hand, he sighs. “Ron Ron Ron. Our darling fool. Let our firefighter handle the flames next time.”
There’s a laugh from the doorway. It’s Chris.
Chris walks over and slides into Tom’s lap. They both hold onto Ron’s hand. “He’ll be okay. They pretty much said he’s sleeping off the drugs.”
Tom nods. He kisses the back of Chris’s neck. “I’m sorry. Didn’t expect to go up today didn’t think to have anyone listen for calls.”
Chris shudders. “Just don’t do it again. It was like my worst nightmare coming true. Not being able to reach you Ron here. Jake at home. God Tom.”
At some point during Chris talking Ron opened his eyes. “Hey honey, hey pretty boy.”
“Ron!” “Oh Christ baby.”
Ron smiles at them. “I know I’m sorry I didn’t think.”
Tom runs his thumb over Ron’s knuckles. “It’s okay. But also we are all getting pagers.”
Chris laughs. “That would work.”
Ron blinks down at his leg. “Damn. That hurts.” Chris jumps up, “getting a nurse I’ll be back.”
They watch him leave. Tom leans over and kisses Ron quickly. “Gonna have to make up to Chris for a while. He couldn’t reach me for almost four hours. Took two more for me to actually get here. Would’ve been longer but Mav drove.”
Ron laughs. “He is a speedy little thing.”
“I’m sorry I scared you both so much.”
Tom looks at him. He squeezes his hand, “I’d say don’t do it again but we both know it wouldn’t be fair.” Ron grins at him.
Chris walks back in with a nurse, “if you’re feeling good Mr. Kerner then we could discharge you today. I trust Chris to know how to take care of burns and broken ribs.”
Chris goes a bit pink. “Yes ma’am.” His boyfriends smile at him. “Great. I feel fabulous please send me home.” She laughs at him. “It’ll take a few more hours for me to be convinced.”
Ron sighs and plops back into the pillows. Chris brushes a hand over his hair. “Thanks Peggy.”
Mag sticks his head into the room. “Hey Sli how we doin?” Ron waves at him. “Been better but also been worse?” Mav blinks at all the bandages on his leg. “That looks bad.” Tom nods before Ron can disagree, “they are.”
Mav nods. “Sorry again Chris. I would’ve rushed more if I knew.” Chris smiles at him, “it’s okay Mav, you didn’t know because I didn’t say. Just thank you for getting Tommy here.”
Mav nods. He slips back out of the room and looks at them one final time before going back to David.
They look happy. A little messed up. But happy.
——————
(as a fun extra I thought of- Ron’s pinky finger ends up crooked it pisses him off)

Twelve - Adjustments
          The next morning, the council met and agreed to let Emily, David, and Derek stay in Alexandria, and offered a second house so they could be a little more comfortable. Spencer, Hotch, David, and Derek all took the extra house and the girls stayed in the first house. They had all talked about what had happened, and while Hotch and JJ hoped it would ease the tension, it only seemed to make it worse. Everyone understood why JJ said they were dead, but it didn’t make them feel less betrayed or hurt. Hotch was getting some short responses because he was the one who had the group move on. Emily, David, and Derek were trying to keep the peace, but they all had their own frustrations and reservations about a whole new community and group of people.
          After lunch, Emily was helping Maggie on a guard tower, David was in the armory with Glenn cleaning weapons and counting ammo, and Derek was doing a perimeter check with Michonne, while Penelope, JJ, Spencer, and Hotch took up their usual shifts. Everyone was friendly with the new members, and they managed to get the hang of things quickly.
          Jocelynn had offered to take care of Judith for the afternoon, so she was sitting on a picnic blanket with her outside of Rick’s house. They had eaten lunch and now were drawing pictures. As they colored, Hotch walked by, stopping when he heard a small giggle. He looked over at Jocelynn and Judith and smiled a bit, watching them coloring.
          Jocelynn looked up and smiled when she saw him. “Hey.”
          “Hey.” He said and walked over to where the two were seated. “What are you two up to?”
          “We are currently coloring pictures of…” she looked at the papers and hummed. “I think that might be Carl…maybe.” She laughed softly, looking up at him. “How’s your day going?”
          “Uh, it’s going alright.” He said with an unconvincing smile.
          “I’m not an FBI profiler or anything, but I think you might be fibbing just a bit.” She said and smiled some.
          “You might be onto something.” He said with a small shrug.
          “Do you wanna talk about it?” she asked, letting Judith climb into her lap to continue her picture.
          He hesitated a moment before walking over and sitting across from them. “I think I’ve got a few minutes to talk.”
          Judith continued to color while Jocelynn nodded at Hotch’s words. “Shoot.”
          “There’s just been some tension in our group since yesterday. I’m hoping it’s a temporary thing and that we’ll all adjust, but I guess time will tell.” He said.
          She wanted to ask what he thought about them being reunited with people that they were all led to believe were dead, but she wasn’t even sure how to bring it up. “I think it’ll take a little time to sort of un-grieve them. When all of this started, Carl and his mom were told that Rick was dead, but he found them and it was a bit of an adjustment for them, and for his friend that told them Rick was gone.”
          He nodded, smiling as Judith held out a crayon for him. He took it and scribbled with her, continuing his conversation. “I know JJ has a lot of guilt, and Reid feels lied to. Garcia wants to keep the peace, and the others are trying to adjust to a life here.”
          “And how do you feel about it all?” she asked, smiling at him joining in on the coloring.
          “I don’t know. I think trying to focus on everyone else has kept me from thinking about how I feel.” He handed the crayon back to Judith and smiled when she handed him another one, then got back to scribbling.
          “Well, if you need someone to talk to about anything, my door’s always open. I’m not great at advice, but I can listen.” she offered.
          “Thank you, I appreciate that.” He replied, attempting to draw a flower.
          “You know, if your other shifts here don’t work out, you could be an artist.” she teased.
          “I don’t want to make anyone jealous of my scribble skills.” He chuckled. “Anyway, I should probably go see how everyone is and see if there’s anything else I can do.”
          “I’ll make sure we frame this beautiful collaboration.” She teased, watching him stand up.
          “I appreciate that. Maybe we can put it up in city hall.” He teased back. “You two enjoy the rest of your day.”
          “Thank you.” She said and looked at Judith. “Can you say bye to Aaron?”
          Judith waved at him with a smile before getting back to coloring.
          “Bye, ladies.” He smiled and waved back before heading off to check on the rest of his team.
          Once he had left, Jocelynn looked down at Judith with a smile. “Are you tired yet or are you still coloring?”
          “Dada!” she smiled, pointing ahead.
          Jocelynn looked up and saw Rick coming over with a smile. “Hey Sheriff.” she smiled.
          “Thought I’d come over and see how things are going.” He replied, picking Judith up as she got up and walked over to him. “Hello, sweetheart.”
          “Just planning world domination as usual.” Jocelynn teased, getting the coloring pages and supplies cleaned up and put into the bin they were kept in.
          “Exactly what I expected.” He teased back. “I saw you talking to Hotch, is everything alright?”
          She looked up at him and nodded. “Yeah, I think so.” She stood up and held the bin on her hip. “I guess things have been a little awkward since yesterday, but he’s pretty sure it’ll be fine.”
          “Well, they were all under the impression that their friends were dead, so to see them walking in here probably messed them up a little.” He said.
          “Yeah, I can’t imagine.” She shook her head. “Do the new guys seem to be handling things well?”
          He nodded, swaying with Judith slightly. “They’re picking things up quickly, but you can see they’re all a little hesitant. Hotch and the others were the same way, so I’m sure they’ll be more comfortable as time goes on.”
          “You’re probably right.” She nodded.
          “I’m always right.” He smirked.
          “Okay, I think it’s time for you to go get some humble pie.” She teased, holding her arms out for Judith. “And I think it’s nap time for a certain someone.”
          Rick chuckled and handed Judith back to Jocelynn. “If you need anything, you know how to find me.” He leaned in and kissed Judith’s head gently. “Love you, sweet pea.”
          When he leaned in, Jocelynn’s stomach fluttered, calming down when she realized what he was doing. “Don’t work too hard.” She smiled some.
          “I never do.” He teased, patting her shoulder as he headed off.
          Jocelynn walked Judith back inside and got the coloring bin put away and Judith down for a nap. She ended up staying at Rick’s for dinner, and after they ate and cleaned up, she headed home. She was almost there when she heard Hotch calling her name. She turned and saw him, walking her way.
          “Hey.” She smiled, coming to a stop.
          “Hey.” He replied, stopping when he got to her.
          He looked like he needed to talk to someone, but she didn’t think he was the type to outright say it. “Out for a post-dinner walk?” she asked him.
          “Something like that. Heading home?” he asked her, knowing it was a ridiculous question.
          “Something like that.” She smiled softly. “Is everything okay?”
          He hesitated a moment, trying to think of the right thing to say. “You said I could come talk to you about anything?”
          “Of course. Do you wanna walk and talk? Or we could go inside.” she offered.
          “I don’t want to impose.” He said, knowing that she had roommates.
          “You won’t be. We can sit on the porch and chat if that would make you more comfortable.” She compromised.
          “Yeah, that sounds great.” He agreed.
          He walked with her the rest of the way to the house and when they got to the porch, they both sat down on the porch swing. It was quiet for a few minutes before Jocelynn spoke up again, “What’s on your mind?”
          “The team is having a hard time with everything, and instead of making it better, I feel like everything I try makes it worse.” He started. “You were in the cabin that day. What did you see?”
          She tried to put her words together before speaking, but she figured since his friends really were alive, she wouldn’t have to spare details. “The door was on top of the coffee table, and there was a pile of walkers on top of it.”
          “Were there any bodies underneath the door, or in the kitchen?” he asked.
          “No, just a lot of blood.” She waited a moment before taking a breath. “Hotch, can I be honest?”
          He looked over at her and nodded.
          “The bodies that were there weren’t…you could tell that they had been out there for a long time. I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I could tell that those walkers weren’t fresh.” She explained carefully.
          “If you could tell that they weren’t there, then JJ would have known. She checked the scene after you did?” he asked.
          “Yeah. I went in first so if it was bad, I could give her a warning.” She looked at him and bit her bottom lip gently. “I didn’t want to make any assumptions, and I’m sure she had her reasons for saying they were there. I’m sorry I didn’t come to you sooner.”
          “You had no reason to. You didn’t know us, and accusing JJ of lying would have complicated things with Rick and the group.” He said simply. “I understand why she did it, she’s explained it over and over again, and we’ve had to keep things from each other one time or another when we were working.”
          She nodded and looked at her hands until he started speaking again.
          “What happened with Rick’s friend? The one who said that he was dead.” He asked her.
          “Things were a little weird for a while, but they started to level out. That wasn’t exactly a fair example though, Shane was…he tried to kill Rick after some time. Glenn was actually presumed dead after a run went badly, but he showed up here and things have been fine since.” She said and looked over at him. “I don’t see JJ randomly trying to kill anyone, so it’ll probably be the latter outcome for you guys.”
          He nodded, looking at his lap before looking back at her. “I know it’ll be okay eventually.”
          She cocked her head to the side slightly, “Then why are you worried?”
          He looked at her a moment before answering, “I don’t think it’s worry; I think it’s guilt.”
          “What are you guilty about?” she asked him, turning slightly so she could face him better.
          “I think the anger and hurt towards JJ should be aimed at me. We could have gone back to the cabin to help them out, I was the one who said we should push forward and assume the worst.”
          “You guys didn’t have the ammo to take them all out on your own.” She reasoned.
          “The three of them were able to escape on their own, if we would have just waited and come back later, we could have found them.” He shook his head.
          “Or there could have been more walkers and you could have been outnumbered. You can’t dwell on the ‘what ifs’, or the ‘could haves’, or it’ll drive you crazy. You did what you thought was right, JJ did what she thought was right, and now you’re all here and safe. It’ll take some time to adjust, but I’m sure everyone will be back to normal in no time.” She said, putting her hand on his arm. “It’ll work out.”
          The hand on his arm caught him off guard, but he didn’t pull his arm away. It felt calming in a strange way. “You’re probably right.”
          “I usually am.” she teased, wanting to lighten things up a little.
          He smiled some and nodded. “Humble too.” He teased back.
          “Always.” She smiled.
          “Thank you for talking some sense into me and listening to me.” He said sincerely, putting his hand on hers. “It means a lot.”
          She ran her thumb along his hand and smiled. “Anytime.”
          He squeezed her hand gently before letting go and letting out a breath. “I suppose I should head home.” They both stood up from the swing and she walked him to the porch steps. “You know, this goes both ways. I know it’s hard to open up to people you haven’t known for long, but if you ever need someone to talk to, you can come to me anytime. You can probably come to anyone on the team, really.”
          “I appreciate it. Just give it some time, and don’t blame yourself, okay? Easier said than done, I know.” She shrugged.
          He looked at her and smiled a little. “Seems like you’re speaking from experience.”
          She gave him a tight-lipped smile, “A story for another time.”
          He nodded, “Understood.”
          “Get home safe, okay? There could be weirdos out there.” She joked.
          “Besides you?” he asked, trying to hide a smirk.
          “Ouch.” She laughed softly.
          He laughed with her and hesitated before pulling her into a hug. “Thank you.”
          She didn’t expect it, but it was nice. She hugged him back and smiled. “You’re welcome.”
          He pulled back and looked down at her. “Night, Joce.”
          “Night, Hotch.” She smiled.
          She watched him walk back to his house, making sure he was okay. As she turned to go inside, she noticed Rick on his porch, looking towards her. She waved at him, which he returned, before heading into his house. Had he been watching her and Hotch the whole time? Maybe he went out for some air. He didn’t have any reason to worry about Hotch, so it had to be the latter. She headed inside and went up to her room to try and get some sleep, but her mind kept trying to wander to the little touches from Hotch on the porch. That wasn’t anything big, right?

Ring
@floofdeloop has held a headcanon since before I joined the fandom properly and was still shyly lurking in the tag that mates wear rings so... yeah. 1.8k words (Psst! Zozo, this is the Sam/Darlin’ fluff I was telling you about!)
“That’s new,” Sam remarked, nodding down at my hand. I looked down.
“What, the ring?”
“Yeah. You’re not much one for accessorizin’.”
I shrugged. “Not practical when I tend to not get any warning before needing to shift.”
“So what’s with this one?” Sam wound his fingers between mine and raised my hand to his lips, kissing my knuckles.
I shrugged. “Unmarried mates don’t have to wear rings to show they’re mated, but some of them do. I don’t know if you’ve noticed that David does. Ash and Milo too, actually. And all their mates. David’s kinda traditional that way, and... well. You’ve seen the way Ash and Milo fawn over their mates.” I let my eyes fall to the ring. “Guess I just...” I shrugged. “It’s simple, it’s not particularly fancy or expensive but... I like a small display to remind myself that I’m wanted.”
The look in Sam’s silver eyes softened. “Oh darlin’,” he whispered gently, wrapping me up in his arms and holding me close. I still hadn’t gotten over the feeling of safety and comfort that came with being held by someone who was stronger than me, for once. Sure, David was stronger than I was—and Asher might have been too—but I’m pretty sure both David and I would rather kiss a venomous snake than hug each other.
Maybe that wasn’t quite the case anymore, but I still felt less than no desire to hug my alpha.
“Why are you making a whole thing out of this?” I grumbled into Sam’s shoulder.
“Because it means somethin’ to you,” he replied. “So it means somethin’ to me.”
I groaned a little in complaint. “It’s not a big deal.”
Sam chuckled. I felt it in his chest. “I think it is a big deal and you’re pretending it’s not.”
He was right but he didn’t have to say it. I scrunched my nose in irritation, wrapping my arms around him and holding him tight. I felt more than heard his chuckle of amusement as he rested a hand on the back of my head.
“I want you for as long as you’ll have me, darlin’,” he said quietly.
“You may regret that statement later,” I pointed out.
“Not if it’s you.”
“Sam! I wasn’t expecting you. What’s up?” Vincent asked the second the door to his house opened. Vincent’s silver gaze clocked Sam nervously picking at his nails.
“I found out yesterday that shifter mates wear rings, and I figured I’d ask for... advice.”
“From me? The guy who was unempowered before he turned?”
“Not on magical culture, dumbass,” Sam retorted. “I... I was thinking about getting one myself. My partner said I didn’t have to, but I... I think it’s important. It’s a big deal to them and they don’t wanna admit it. I’m sure it’d mean a lot to them if I wore one too.”
Vincent’s face split into a wide, bright, gleaming smile. “Ahhh. So you did come to the right guy after all. C’mon inside.” He opened the door wider and beckoned Sam in. Already considering regretting asking Vincent’s advice, Sam crossed the threshold.
The front door shut behind him with a sense of finality. This was happening. He was committing to this.
Sam Collins of a year ago would have been terrified. Sam Collins of now could not be more determined and excited.
“Okay,” Vincent said as he led Sam into the living room and scooped up a tablet where it had been sitting on the sofa cushions. “My number one priority when choosing rings for any occasion is style. Do you want a beveled edge? What do you want it to be made out of? Durability versus safety. A tungsten ring will shatter before it warps around your finger but it also oxidizes fast and loses its shine. Gold is super malleable so the purer it is, the less likely it’ll retain its shape even though it looks amazing.
“And do you want something engraved on it? Inside? Outside?” Vincent slid a silvery ring with a gold stripe running around the center and passed it over for Sam to inspect. “That one’s cobalt chrome. Same stuff aircraft is made of. It’s durable but maintains its shine. It should also shatter before warping, which is ideal in case your hand ever gets smashed. Look inside the band.”
Sam did as instructed.
Everything 07.10.20 was carved into the inside of the band. Sam scrunched his eyebrows and looked up. “Huh?”
“The promise I made to be with my partner through everything, and the day we met,” Vincent explained. “That’s the only ring I wear every day. All the others are interchangeable. That’s the one I value the most. It’s not the most expensive ring I own by any means, but it means the most to me.”
Sam nodded in understanding. “I see,” he said. He handed the ring back. Vincent slid it back on.
“It mostly comes down to personal preference, but I’m more than happy to go over stuff with you. I have a friend in the city who’s a jeweler if you want something super custom. And I’m sure William has a random assortment of gemstones from throughout the centuries that he’d be willing to let you pick a little jewel from if you want.”
“That might be a little much.”
Vincent shrugged. “Up to you.” He waved the tablet in his hand. “Come sit down. Let’s look at some options.”
Sam sighed and followed his brother to the sofa.
The ring I’d started wearing was silicone. It would tear off if I had to shift at a moment’s notice. It wasn’t particularly expensive and I’d bought a bunch of spares.
But I’d started to get used to it. Twisting the simple black band around my finger when I was thinking. Feeling like something was missing when I left the house without it. Given it was silicone and I wasn’t particularly concerned about tarnishing it, I’d fully stopped taking it off for most things and just left it on.
I found myself fidgeting with it while I sat at the pack meeting. I’d tuned David out a while ago without realizing it or meaning to. When my attention span snapped back to the here and now, I blinked hard and shook my head—and caught Asher and Milo both casting “furtive” glances toward my hand. Irritating as it would be to put up with their teasing, I didn’t take the ring off. Nor did I hide it with my other hand. Just kept twisting it around my finger. If either of them had a problem with me wearing it, I’d beat them both up.
My phone buzzed in my pocket. I slipped it out of my pocket and peeked at it, trying to be subtle and unobtrusive.
Sam: Meet me at mine after your meeting?
I replied with a thumbs-up emoji. A promise that I’d send a more adequate reply later but acknowledging I got his text.
I spent the rest of the meeting antsy. Sam probably just wanted to relax with me, but part of me was nervous. Had something gone wrong? Was he okay? His clan? My pack? Had he heard something from William from one of William’s hundreds of contacts? My thoughts did nothing but spiral as I sat there, staring through the whiteboard David was standing in front of.
Once the meeting was over, I didn’t stay to chat. I definitely avoided Asher and Milo as they tried to head me off on my way to the door. I was a bit quicker than both of them and slipped out.
Swinging a leg over my motorbike, I gunned its engine and left the security office behind.
Twenty minutes later, I was shoving the kickstand with my foot in Sam’s driveway. He was sitting on the porch, long legs extended down the stairs, leaning back on his hands. Cowboy boots, faded jeans, plaid flannel unbuttoned over a T-shirt. The usual.
“Everything okay?” I asked, yanking my helmet off. Trying not to look frazzled. Years of emotional suppression left me pretty good at sounding unbothered.
“Everythin’s fine, darlin’,” Sam said.
“Just wanna chill?”
He shrugged. “Little more’n that,” he said. He sat up properly so he wasn’t leaning back on his hands anymore and beckoned me to come sit beside him. I did, letting him wrap his right arm around my shoulders.
“What do you mean?”
“I wanted your opinion on somethin’.”
“Okay?”
He brought his left hand in front of him, palm up like he wanted me to put my hand on top of it.
But there was a ring on his finger—the same finger I wore mine on.
I took his hand in both of mine and raised it closer to my face for thorough inspection.
It was a metal ring inset with some sort of stone around the middle. David’s was similar, but the secondary ring—the inset—on David’s was a dark, rich wood. This was a clear stone with milky, translucent veins and flecks of blue.
The metal was bright and silvery, but it didn’t look like silver. It was... too pale to be silver. “Wait—is this platinum?” I asked.
Sam didn’t answer immediately. “Part of it,” he said. “The other part’s stone.”
I shot him a look that said, “No duh, Sherlock,” and then smiled. “I figured that much out. Moonstone, if I’m not wrong.”
“Surprised you guessed.”
I shrugged. “I was one of those rocks-and-minerals kids. Got a lot of guff from Ash for always having a cool rock I found in my pocket or my backpack.” I looked back down at the ring. “It’s beautiful. But—I mean—you didn’t have to. I—I just got mine as a reminder to myself.” Only Sam being sweet could make me fumble with my words like a nervous teenager. “I mean—this looks really expensive and—”
“Darlin’,” Sam interrupted. “It’s important to you, so it’s important to me. And I like this one.” He set his hand that was around my shoulders on the back of my head. “Did it ever occur to you that maybe I like the reminder that I’m wanted too?”
I blinked a single tear out of my eye that I hadn’t realized was welling up. I raised a hand to wipe it off but Sam caught my wrist, encouraging me to just let it slide down my face.
“I love you, Sam,” I said.
He gave me a gentle smile. “I love you too, darlin’. So much.” He pressed his lips to my temple. “And the ring wasn’t as expensive as you think.”

the great adventures of y/n tommy tubbo ranboo & others are mentioned - tommy won’t go home
this is part 14 to the great adventures series
an: I tried, days are a social construction on the tarosin blog… also i’m back baby <3
from the moment you were forced awake by tubbo streaming with ranboo, Tommy began sending several messages as in his own words you ‘weren’t answering him quick enough’, probably because you had only just woken up and had no idea what day or time it was.
Tommy: y/n
Tommy: y/n were going out soon I've decided so answer me
Tommy: y/n wake up
y/n: heh? I’m going nowhere I’m tired
Tommy: I’m sending you a ticket make sure you meet me there
it was around now you had the feeling you were going to be stuck with Tommy for a while and you had no idea what to expect. an hour later tubbo stopped streaming so you took this as an opportunity to say your goodbyes to tubbo and ranboo explaining you had no idea what was happening as Tommy refused to explain but you’d probably be back later so they don’t lock you outside like last time
“don’t smirk at me ranboo just because you’re tall doesn’t mean I can’t take you down”
“mhm sure yep”
“y/n you’re going to be late we’ll see you later”
soon enough you were with Tommy who finally decided to inform you of what was happening
“we’re going to go annoy George”
“great idea Tommy let’s go”
the pair of you stood at the door waiting for George to answer, the look on George's face is something you’ll never forget.
“Hello Tommy, is that y/n what are you doing here
“Nice to see you too… the fuck”
a few minutes later you and Tommy were sat next to George when you found a rubber duck and started making it squeak annoying the others well that was until Tommy took it and started doing the exact same thing you were doing
“I now understand why you looked pissed George”
during the stream, you were sat in between the pair George looked at you and you nodded. a few seconds later George threw the rubber duck hitting Tommy, the pair of you left not long after that event and made your way to the hotel after calling tubbo to explain what was happening.
the next day you and Tommy met up with tubbo ranboo and George at a shopping centre where you were all almost immediately met with several people asking for photos and the chance to talk to you all, you hid behind ranboo until the crowd grew smaller. it didn’t take long for everyone to notice the piano before you had time to process what just happened tubbo ran to the piano dragging you with him accidentally pushing ranboo in the process
“SORRY RANBOO”
the pair of you began playing the piano Tommy joining shortly after. time flew by the five of you spent the rest of your time shopping and just enjoying each other’s company, before you knew it, it was time to get the train. you laughed at tubbo falling asleep on the window however karma quickly caught up as you ended up falling asleep on ranboos shoulder ranboo laughed quietly to himself not wanting to wake up you or tubbo
“I swear its always y/n and tubbo who fall asleep”
“its been a long day y/n couldn’t sleep in the hotel they kept mentioning something about ghosts I don’t know man they must have been watching too many horror films”
“mhm probably”
soon enough you were with the others, minx quickly pulled you into a hug
“Nice tattoo”
“I did it for money it was a sub-goal”
you and tubbo stood with Tommy looking at the ferret
“why’s it so long”
“tubbo does it look like I study zoology I play Minecraft for a living”
the next day you were at the beach, having only had a few hours of sleep the previous night it was safe to say you weren’t in the best mood, you sat next to ranboo occasionally falling in and out of sleep, ranboo kept an arm around you pulling you into his side making sure you were safe and didn’t hit your head on the rocks when you fell asleep. you were woken up by tubbo walking on something which he clearly shouldn’t be. eventually, you all made it back to tubbos house, Tommy and tubbo were in the kitchen while ranboo practised for mcc and you were asleep in the room you had been sharing with ranboo whilst he’s in the Uk.
the next day you all went out on another adventure, at this point you had no idea what was happening but you just went with it. you and Tommy chased a bird telling him about the subscribe button and giving him the name ‘funny boy’
“Why does that bird look just extremely anxious”
“because we’re too cool ranboo”
“maybe we should give him another name than funny boy”
“Charles”
it was at this point you all decided to leave poor Charles alone as it was pretty clear he wanted nothing to do with you.
the three of you made your way to the train station forgetting that the school students would be there, a few minutes later the three of you were swarmed by several students all trying to talk to you all.
“I think we might have got on when the schools are here”
“so thankful you pointed that out boo I thought we were being mobbed by several people cosplaying as school students”
“hi everyone hopefully no one has covid”
you backed away from the crowd moving closer to ranboo
“I bet tubbos really glad he chose not to come”
you tried to avoid the crowd by getting on the train, this failed miserably. people were excited to meet the people they look up to they were all determined to sit with you all on the train taking up the seats around you all, the three of you spent a lot of the train ride talking to them, unlike ranboo and Tommy you ignored the comments aimed at the three of you not wanting to get involved after all it was rather overwhelming so many people talking loudly at once, you ended up moving seats and had a quiet conversation with someone from your community, around half an hour later you were at your destination and said goodbye before joining Tommy and ranboo at wills. the three of you sat on the floor listening to will and the others practice. it’s pretty clear Tommy has a habit of finding things as you turned around to see him with a puppet of a shark pretending to bite you
“Tommy what are you doing”
“bye y/n scream it’s going to get you”
“ah”
realising you weren’t going to scream he began telling joe, Wilbur and David to scream.
after spending time with the others and having a quick trip to the beach you Tommy and ranboo ended up at the shop recording the three of you on the security camera
“If you take a picture from there 50p”
you looked at ranboo tilting your head in confusion even though he was wearing a mask and sunglasses he was clearly equally as confused, he pulled you into his side noticing you were clearly starting to get anxious, you hated confrontation even though it turned out to be a joke it still shook you up a little bit
“I'm only joking my friend…but I did get them”
“you did we took it serious”
“aye you did”
the three of you walked away Tommy still laughing
“he scared me”
after a long day, you all went back to tubbos, you and ranboo decided to end the night early, the pair of you made your way to the shared room. you both spent a few minutes talking about mcc and how you were both going to win and coming up with new strategies. you must have fallen asleep mid-conversation as you didn’t remember seeing Tommy come into the room last night yet you were woken up by him complaining that ranboo playing mcc woke him up.
after getting ready you sat planning an adventure with tubbo
“So where do you wanna go bo”
“We should do something really cool”
“l hope you know that wasn’t helpful”
“pumpkin patch”
“it’s summer where do you think we’re going to find pumpkins…wait tubbo in October I’m taking you to a pumpkin patch it’ll be great we hardly spend time together as a pair near Halloween”
“I promise this year we’ll spend more time together”
your conversation was interrupted by Tommy and ranboo announcing they were ready to go to the beach again. once there tubbo sat arguing with Tommy and ranboo over them needing a life jacket. meanwhile, you had walked away collecting pretty rocks and sea glass putting them in the velvet blue bag covered in embroidered gold stars that dream had sent you as a thank you for the merch you sent him not long ago, you walked along the beach quietly talking to yourself
“ooh jack would like that and I could turn this into a ring for Niki…techno would like this and this would annoy schlatt it's perfect”
you laughed to yourself as you made your way back to the others thinking about schlatts reaction when he sees his gift. when you made your way back you watched Tommy swim over to tubbo leaving ranboo on his own probably waiting for you to return
“did you get any nice rocks then y/n you were out for a while”
“I did. come sit over there with me I’ll show you”
the pair of you sat next to each other away from the sea, ranboo matched your excitement every time you picked the rock you wanted to show him
“you’ve been collecting more than rocks? what’s that”
“I have !! you wanna see?”
“of course I do”
this was a moment neither of you would forget, the pair of you sat enjoying each others company looking at rocks and sea glass you had found on the beach ignoring the world.

Redamancy - Chapter Three
getting into the meat of it now y’all!! thanks for sticking with this lil series so far, i’m really liking it so far :-)
chapter two
chapter four
WORD COUNT: 2349
WARNINGS: manipulation, (mansplain malewife), made the reader have a fear of heights for the Plot, david being jealous and star being a queen per usual
He smiles a little at you and you focus back on the road, your own smile growing. “You think it’ll even work?”
“Yeah, I do. And who knows, by the time they come crawling back to us, we might be over them! We could send them packing or, you know, take them back.” He nods, tapping his finger on his leg to the beat of the song lowly playing on the radio. “Alright, well, you wanna hear my plan?”
He snorts, running his hand through his hair. “You’ve been planning this, hm? You sure you don’t actually wanna date me?”
“Don’t flatter yourself, babe,” You say, laying the pet name on thick. He chuckles, motioning for you to continue. “So, I’ve divided the plan up into 3 phases. Right now is Phase One. We’re not dating, but we’re getting closer and making it obvious we like each other. We’re gonna have to spend time around them to get this to work, though…”
He takes a deep breath, nodding slowly. He hadn’t thought of that when he agreed. “Okay. I’ll… I don’t know. I’ll try not to be all weird around them. And the other phases… what are they?”
“S’okay if you are. It honestly might make it more convincing. But, tonight, I was thinking we could hang around them but stick close together, whisper and peel off from the group occasionally, you know? And since Marko and Paul will absolutely say something we could walk close to each other and laugh a lot.
“But for ‘Phase Two,’ that’s when we’re officially dating. Like, we make a big scene out of being all lovey dovey, you know, lay it on thick. Really sell it. Phase Three is when we break up. It’s gonna be messy, of course.”
“Hmm,” He hums, thinking. You pull into the boardwalks parking lot, slowing down a considerable amount. You park and turn the car off, turning to face him. “I think I could do that. Are we gonna have to go on rides and shit with them?”
You shrug. Paul, Marko, and Laddie were normally the only ones who went on the rides but David, Dwayne, and Star could be convinced with a lot of pleading. “You ready to do this?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” You give him a reassuring smile and step out of the car, locking it behind you and falling into line next to Michael. You can sense the tension radiating from him and you grab his upper arm, squeezing it. He smiles down at you.
You pass by the boys' bikes, which were illegally parked as usual, and you hear a familiar whistle. You look further down the boardwalk and see Paul waving at you two. He cups his hand around his mouth and shouts. “Hey! C’mere you two!” You grin and begin to walk through the crowd. Your heartbeat was increasing with each step you took, knowing you were getting closer to both Star and David. Putting on a smile, you mentally prepare yourself to ignore every pang of your heart when Star and David kiss. It was surely going to happen.
Dwayne is the closest to you as you approach and he pulls you into a hug. It was tight and you knew that was his way of making sure you were okay. You pull back and ruffle his hair, doing your rounds of hugs and hello’s. Laddie was still with the group, which was a surprise as he normally split the minute they got there.
“So, how was the ride over here?” Paul asks, his tone and smile hinting at his real question which was ‘did you two get busy?’ You roll your eyes and bump your hip into Michael who had only given a general ‘hi’ to the group.
“It was fine, Pauly. We were talking about what we wanted to do on the way here.”
“What you wanted to do, eh?” Marko says and he and Paul erupt into a fit of giggles. Michael laughs along with them, quieter, but the sound makes you smile. He was getting more comfortable. The comment even gets a laugh out of Dwayne.
“Has anyone ever told you you’re funny, Mark?” He scowls at the nickname. “But seriously, we were trying to figure out if we wanted to ride any of the rides. I’m not a big Ferris Wheel person.
“Which blows my damn mind,” Michael interjects, giving you a teasing smile. You hate to admit it, but his smile did make your stomach flip. He was good at this shit. “I mean, you’re friends with people who can fly and yet you hate the Ferris Wheel. Which, in my opinion, is much safer than the alternative.”
Dwayne lifts Laddie up onto his shoulders, the talk of riding the Ferris Wheel getting him excited. “She never let us fly her around. C’mon, Laddie’s gonna blow a damn gasket if we don’t get on the Ferris Wheel.”
You laugh, following behind Dwayne closely, Michael at your side. You look behind you to see the others following you, even Star and David. Star was laughing with Paul and Marko about something while David was staring at you, his jaw clenching. You meet his eyes and, in a very petty moment, give him a smile.
Turning around, you make a note to ‘accidentally’ brush your hand against Michaels. He catches on pretty quickly, looking at you with a wide grin. He leans down, whispering into your ear. “I can feel David staring a hole into my head.”
You laugh; so can you. Star doesn’t seem fazed by the two of you, which you’re hoping Michael doesn’t notice, but David was. He probably wasn’t expecting you to be as okay as you seemed. You and Michael get closer to the Ferris Wheel and you curse as Paul and Marko push between the two of you. You nearly fall over but Michael catches hold of your arm, steadying you.
“Assholes!” You shout after them, giving an apologetic smile at the mother who scowls at you, covering her kids ears. Neither of them acknowledge you and instead stand with Dwayne and Laddie. The line was pretty short, most people wanting to wait until it got a tad darker out, and you, Michael, David, and Star stand behind the others.
You get closer to the front of the line and can feel your anxiety growing. You were shifting your weight from one foot to the other. “You really don’t like heights, do you?” Michael asks and you shake your head immediately. Looking up at the Ferris Wheel you gulp; it was really high up. He wraps his arm around your shoulder and pulls you in. “Don’t worry. I’ll be with you the whole time.”
“Thanks, Michael.” You say, smiling up at him. You can make out what sounds like a scoff from behind you but you don’t react and instead sink into Michael just a bit more. Apparently your fear of heights was going to really help push Phase One along. As another group piles into the small, and way too shaky, carts you notice that they’re only allowing four people into a cart. Your stomach sinks; you and Michael would have to be in a cart with David and Star.
“Hey, Paul, Marko, switch with us. I wanna go on with Laddie.” You call, hoping your voice wasn’t going to give away just how sick to your stomach you felt. Both of the boys shake their heads and you groan. God damn it. You couldn’t ask Laddie and Dwayne to switch because it would become obvious you were trying to avoid the other two.
You watch as the four get into their cart, Laddie now off of Dwayne's shoulder, and you give them a half-assed wave. Now it was your turn and all you wanted to do was throw up and run away simultaneously. The fact you were going to be more than 40 feet into the air with David of all people was really starting to get to you.
The Ferris Wheel operator ushers you, Michael, Star, and David inside before closing the door, sending you off. You and Michael sit together and David and Star sit across from you. They were sitting close, Stars arms wrapped around David’s. He had the same scowl on his face but his attitude was the least of your worries.
Your eyes squeeze shut as the ride starts up, sending you into the air. Your breath hitches in your throat and you can’t open your eyes. You just can’t. Michaels arm is still around your shoulder and, while it was comforting, it wasn’t helping much. “Hey, deep breaths, alright?”
Michael whispers in your ear and you nod your head quickly, trying to listen. The sound of your heart beating in your chest was nauseatingly loud and you felt yourself getting more lightheaded with each sway of the cart.
“H-how high up are we right now?” You croak. You didn’t even want to know the answer.
“We’re almost at the top. Y/N, you look like you’re going to be sick… are you sure you’re alright?” Star asks, her voice dripping with worry. Your eyes pop open at the sound of David's laughter. He was staring straight at you, a cruel smile on his face. Star’s face was scrunched up and she was looking at him completely dumbfounded.
He snickers, looking away from you and off into the night sky. Your eyes follow him and you let out a whimper; you were so fucking high up. The ride stops suddenly and you swear had Michael not been holding you you would’ve passed out into a heap.
“The fuck are you laughing at?” Michael snapped, his eyes trained on David. He narrows his eyes as David waves him off in response. “Dickhead.” He mutters into your ear and, despite yourself, you laugh. It was a choked laugh, but a laugh nonetheless. You sit up slightly as you try to even your breathing.
It was okay. You would be off this damn thing before you knew it, no use getting all worked up. You will your eyes to look away from the metal floor but you can’t. You can’t look over the edge of the cart because if you do you’re going to pass out. Or throw up. Probably both. “Hey, it’s okay. You want me to let you know when we’re about to get off?” Michael questions and you choke out a yes.
Pulling you in closer to him, both of his arms envelop you into a hug. You were tucked into his chest and you maneuver yourself so that your arm is wrapped around his waist. You smile as Star begins to describe the lights and view to you. Michael’s chin rests on the top of your head. You feel safe.
“Alright, we’re the next cart to be let out, okay. You good to get out or do you need my help?” Michael asks, pulling away from you slightly. He wants you to be the first to fully pull away. Your mouth opens to answer him but David cuts you off with a scoff. You open your eyes and glare at him, sitting up fully now that you are closer to the ground.
“She can handle walking, Michael.”
His voice was filled with venom. Michael scoffs, completely ignoring him, choosing to repeat his question to you instead. You watch Star lean into David and whisper at him, her face giving away her anger. He rolls his eyes at her which makes her angrier. “I’m okay walking, but thank you Michael. Really,”
You smile up at him and he does the same, standing to let you and Star out of the cart first, moving in front of David. You bite back your laugh; the asshole deserved that. You walk besides Michael as the four of you go to meet with the others who were standing in front of an ice cream shop.
“Hey! You all have fun?” Paul asks, licking a stripe up his ice cream cone, his eyebrow raised. You and Michael look at each other and grin. David sits down, ignoring the questions, and Star stands besides Laddie, sending a glare David's way. “I’m gonna take that as a no.”
“It was alright. Y/N and I are actually gonna go to the arcade. She thinks she can beat me in ski-ball.”
“Because I can,” You retaliate, elbowing him lightly. Michael grins and turns on his heel to walk away. As you go to follow him, Dwayne grabs ahold of your arm and gives you a look you know all too well. “Uhm, Michael, I’ll meet you there, yeah? Gotta talk to Dwayne real quick.”
Michael gives you a thumbs up and walks off, hands shoved in his jacket pockets. Dwayne pulls you off to the side, away from the others, and stares at you. “You wanted to talk?”
He narrows his eyes at you and you instantly close your mouth. “What the hell do you think you’re doing with Michael?” You cock an eyebrow at him. There was no way he knew about your plan, was there? “You and he are getting close because you both got broken up with. You two dating is not gonna end up well. For anyone.”
“I’ll keep that in mind, mom,” You mutter, going to walk off. He grabs your arm and pulls you back and you groan. “Jesus, nothing is even going on between us! We’re going through the same thing so we’re hanging out, is that so bad?”
“It is if you’re doing it for the wrong reasons.”
“Now what the fuck is that supposed to mean?” You snap. You knew what he was hinting at, and even though it was true, that doesn’t mean you should just come out and say it. “Dwayne, I’m not listening to this shit anymore, alright. Me and Michael? We’re friends. That’s it.”
He gives you a look, one you can’t quite place. “Whatever, Y/N, don't say I didn’t warn you.”

You roll over in bed when your alarm goes off, but you don’t get very far. Aaron throws an arm over you and pulls you back to him with a grumble.
You huff a laugh and wiggle up against him. It’s all a tease and you both know it - there isn’t any time to get up to anything fun before work, but it’s far too entertaining to rile him up.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish.” His voice escapes his lips between your shoulder blades and you can feel his smile.
“Oh, trust me, babe. I can finish.”
He hums, his smile breaking out into something real. “I noticed.”
+++
When the two of you finally make it out of bed (surprisingly still on time), you grab one of Aaron’s scarves and a hat on your way out. It’s your turn to drop Jack at school today on your way into the office, and the task serves two purposes.
The first? It’s nice to spend time with Jack, just the two of you, when it’s your turn and you’re not on a case. It’s the same for Aaron, who always leaves a little earlier so he and Jack can sit down somewhere and have breakfast together.
The second is pure logistics. You two can’t show up to work in the same car at the same time, so a convenient excuse to separate and stagger your arrivals is welcome.
“Really?”
Aaron’s question stops you at the threshold and you look over your shoulder “What?”
“My hat? My scarf?”
It’s almost too tempting to cave when he’s looking at you like that - his tie hanging around his neck, shirt untucked, arms crossed, and playful frown hiding a smile.
“Yeah. It’s warm and it’s here and we’re late.”
Jack squints up at you and says, “We’re not late.”
“You’re not late.”
The observations come within split seconds of each other and you laugh.
“Fine. Not late, but warm. And you have more hats.” You scamper back into the house to plant a kiss on his lips, smoothing the hair at his temples.
Jack’s laughter is the underscore to your next quip. “You’re very handsome and I’m sure you’re very smart so you can figure it out.”
“Yeah, Dad,” Jack chirps. “Figure it out.”
He has nothing to say to your retreating forms as he catches a glimpse of your smile through the crack in the closing door.
+++
Emily and Spencer are away at a conference-book-signing thing, so it’s just the five of you and Penelope this morning. You’d normally figure that would be Rossi’s purview, but apparently -
“My book-signing days have been put on hold indefinitely in favor of -”
“ - He’s back.” Garcia interrupts, tossing case files at all of you. The conversation is cut short and you suppress a smile. “The Marin headlands last night.”
You can see Aaron’s lips pull as well.
It’s the little things.
Penelope gestures with the notes and crime scene photos appear on the screen. “David Atley and Nicole Puli, both 24, both grad students at Berkeley, shot multiple times in their vehicle-- wait for it--” She clicks again and a familiar sigil appears.
“The Zodiac?” Morgan’s shock is almost sardonic in its delivery.
Rossi snorts. “No way.”
“Come on,” Derek says, amused, while JJ chimes in as well.
 “It's gotta be the 2.0 version.”
While neither of you speak, you share a glance with Aaron. You’re kidding.
He only raises his eyebrows for a split second and shrugs.
There’s some part of you a little paranoid that you’re the most obvious couple to exist in the history of the universe. Sure, the team has been teasing you about your friendship for years, the will-the-won’t-they of it all, but now that it’s real you’re almost terrified that they know everything.
Thus, the overcompensation has been wretched. You and Aaron barely look at each other in the field if you can help it (which you usually can’t) and he tends to put you with Derek more often than not.
In truth, the others have noticed, but are far too interested in the spectacle to say anything. Emily’s almost certain the two of you have slept together, and Dave may or may not have suggested the possibility of a secret marriage during your period of suspension.
However far-fetched and ridiculous their theories, they know you two well enough to know that something happened. The tension is gone.
Derek almost finds himself missing the tension. There hasn’t been much to tease you about lately in its absence.
“Yeah, you would think so, except for the crazy similarities in the MO.” Penelope clicks through the photos as she talks.
“I'm talking same victimology, same geography. And,” she adds. “Two souvenirs were left at the crime scene.” She clicks once more and stands back for the full effect.
“He left a photo?” Rossi asks.
She hums in the affirmative. “Local police say that is Marcia Miller. She was found near Napa in 1971. Strongly suspected that she was a victim of the Zodiac, but police never confirmed it and they didn't publicize the case.”
Morgan’s still squinting at the screen. “So the Zodiac took this photo at the killing and then saved it all these years?”
“The Zodiac's last confirmed victim was the cabdriver Paul Stine,” Dave notes devolving into a conversation about The Zodiac, his timeline, his signature.
It’s nothing new - The Zodiac Killer’s case details are common knowledge in your line of work, nevermind the sheer number of copycats that try their hand at the highly-ritualistic murders before inevitably getting arrested.
There’s a reason this guy hasn’t been caught in forty years.
After a few minutes of bouncing between you all, Hotch pushes back from the table and stands. “Have Reid and Prentiss meet us in San Francisco. Wheels up in 30.”
He heads straight to his office to collect his things and you swing in by the tips of your fingers for just a second. “You wanna call Jess or do you want me to?”
In the middle of throwing files in his briefcase, he doesn’t look up when he answers. “Can you, please? I was supposed to meet with Strauss this afternoon and need to stop by her office before wheels up.”
You smile at him, tapping the door frame twice. “You got it.”
+++
It’s boots on the ground right away when you land in San Francisco. You drive to the crime scene with Aaron in the passenger seat beside you and JJ in the back. The radio’s on, and you sing under your breath, tapping your fingers on the steering wheel as you make your way up to the crime scene.
Before you get to the local FBI agents, JJ catches you by the sleeve. “It’s nice to have music in the car again.”
You just smile at her. Aaron looks a little puzzled.
The three of you wipe the looks off your faces by the time you get to Agent Lynn.
+++
“What did JJ mean?” Aaron asks you.
The two of you are alone for the time being, posted up in the conference room with the old Zodiac case files. You look up. “Hmm?”
“What did she mean when she mentioned the music earlier?”
“Oh.” A little flush of embarrassment shoots down your gut. “Derek pointed out to me last summer that I didn’t play any music in the car.”
...while you were gone is the thing you don’t say, but he knows that’s what you mean.
“I didn’t really notice.” You shrug to cover your fib. “I guess I’ve reacquainted myself with the radio in the last couple of weeks.”
Aaron hums, returning to his work. Something’s off, but you’re sure it’ll come up later.
+++
“You don’t think it’s really him, do you?” You ask, unbuttoning your shirt and throwing your pajamas on.
Surprisingly, this case seems to be one of those that allows for sleep at regular hours. For that, you’re grateful. It’s much harder to find time to wind down with Aaron at the end of the day when you’re all forced to sleep in shifts.
Aaron shakes his head, “No, I think Reid’s right. We’re looking at a particularly sophisticated copycat.”
“Isn’t that kind of worse?” Hopping up on your bed, you curl up and look at him over your nose - a clear invitation to join you.
With a huff down his nose and a little smile, he flops down beside you and props his chin on his arms over your belly. “Could be. Luckily, we have Reid.”
You almost think he’s going to say something else, but he gets that pensive look on his face again.
“What?”
With a sigh, he says, “I’m just thinking about what JJ said.”
“Oh, Aaron -”
He doesn’t let you finish. It’s probably a good thing. You didn’t know what you wanted to say anyway.
“I knew how hard it was on me, but I’m realizing more and more how hard it was on you, too.” He shakes his head. “I feel ...I don’t know. I feel like I should have known better… or something.”
Winding your fingers in his hair, you sit in silence for a moment. He doesn’t have anything more to say and eventually he crawls up your body and settles in under your arm, his head on your chest and legs wound between yours.
Sometimes, you’ve found, he likes to feel small.
“You’re safe and you’re home. That’s what matters.” You kiss the top of his head. “And I love you.”
He hums, arcing into your touch and wrapping an arm around your waist. “I love you.”
+++
You spend much of the next day chasing Spencer around the city, keeping notes handy (for yourself, not for him - he doesn't need them) and reporting back on his discoveries to the team like some kind of overwrought and hyper-trained secretary.
Stepping off to the side, you answer a call from Aaron.
“Hit your limit yet?”
You look over at Spencer, who’s flipping through a newspaper like a man on a mission. “It’s actually kind of entertaining.”
And that’s actually true. Watching Spencer push the limits of his intelligence is always a treat - it happens so rarely you almost forget how much you enjoy it every time.
He huffs into the phone. “Hang in there. We’ll all meet back at the precinct once Reid’s done -”
“Doing magic?”
“Exactly. Keep me posted.” There’s a pause. It’s an odd little habit you two developed in the field to leave space for the words you can’t say in front of the others.
I love you.
“Me too.”
+++
You’re almost asleep when a sliver of yellow light shoots across your room, promptly disappearing as the door to the hallway closes.
He pads across the room and slips under the covers. “Hi.”
A little smile crosses your face as you roll over to face him. “Hi.”
Before you can say anything else, his hands are on you and he’s half on top of you as he captures your lips.
Needless to say, the lack of sleep is worth it.
+++
Emily, long after she and Aaron are the only ones left in the precinct conference room, squints as she notices something right under his collar.
He’s already loosened his tie and unbuttoned the top button of his dress shirt, no longer standing on ceremony now that all the local police have retired and the rest of the team gone up to their hotel rooms. There’s not much to do, but the compulsion to get ahead for tomorrow is one neither one of them can shake.
What Aaron failed to remember when executing his wardrobe adjustment was the rather...spirited romp in your room the night prior. The little purple swatches painted on his skin just under the line of his collar stood out stark against the crisp lines of his dress shirt.
Fortunately for you, there was no way in hell the rest of the team would find anything he left on you last night.
Emily reaches into her purse and pulls out a tube of concealer and a powder compact. Though he’s more olive-toned than she is, it’ll be good enough in a pinch. “Hey, Hotch.”
He looks at her over his nose, his eyes tired.
“You might want this for tomorrow morning.” She pushes the crisis control kit across the table to him, but he only frowns and deepens his squint.
By way of explanation, she reaches across the table and presses the tip of her finger into one of the visible bruises in the hollow of his throat. He flinches, freezes, and then immediately drops his head into his hands.
It’s easy to say Emily is amused in the extreme. “Those look...really fresh.”
He shakes his head, insisting as he picks up a file at random, “They’re from before we left.”
It’s only because it’s Emily that he’s even humoring this conversation.
“No they’re not.” She sticks her tongue firmly in her cheek. “These ones are though.” She points at yellowing marks on his collarbone and he smacks her hands away.
“And I know what fresh hickies look like, Hotch. Those are fresh fresh. Like, last night fresh. And we’ve been here for four days.” She frowns, tracking back through the day. “When on earth would you have time to -”
A series of images flash through her head, random wayward connections flashing together in an alarmingly clear picture.
You, avoiding her at the office back in September with quickly-covered marks painted across your neck.
You, flirting with Sean and having way too much fun doing it, looking over his shoulder at ...someone else.
Hotch, in a perpetually good mood (for him, anyway, and despite looking ill-slept) for the last five months.
The way the mistletoe kiss at Dave’s Christmas party looked way too easy, too familiar.
And now, the obvious indicators that Hotch is not only getting it, he’s getting it good.
If he got those last night…
Wait.
Their hotel rooms are right next to …
Oh my God.
Hotch watches the realization flash across Emily’s face, and he knows you’re both busted. Instead of losing her shit like he expected, Emily just leans back in her chair - smug.
“So. Are you still Not the Boyfriend, or has there been an update?”
He sighs.
The corner of her mouth tips up. “How long?”
“For which part? The not-boyfriend part, the boyfriend part, or this part?” He gestures vaguely to the space behind his tie, and Emily snorts.
“Just spill it.”
Holding up a finger, he pulls his phone out of his pocket, dialing the first number on his speed dial.
You’re hardly asleep, sitting up in bed waiting for him with a case file in your lap, when you get the call. You’re not sure who’s listening, so a “Hey, Hotch. What’s up?” will have to do.
“Emily knows.”
You straighten. “How?”
“Doesn’t matter. She knows.”
There’s a scramble, and suddenly Emily’s on the other end of the phone. “He’s got very questionable and very fresh bruises just under his collar. Care to explain?”
There’s another shuffle.
“Ignore her,” Aaron says. With a hand pressed to your forehead, you understand the question implicit in his phone call.
“Just tell her. It’s basically her fault, anyways. If she hadn’t ditched it then we’d have our heads up our asses for another five years.”
“Alright,” then, after a second of realizing you don’t sound sleepy at all, “Go to bed.”
“I’m in bed.”
He rolls his eyes. Emily can only look on with amusement, gleeful in the extreme. “You know that’s not what I mean. Go to sleep.”
“Alright, alright. Fine.” You reluctantly close the casefile and put him on speaker so he can hear the light click off. “I’m going to sleep.” Then, “I love you. Come up soon.”
“Okay.” He shoots a glance at Emily. Because he’ll never hear the end of it anyway, more ammo won’t hurt at this point. “I love you too. Now, really. Go to slee -”
You hang up on him. He double-takes at his phone for a moment before shoving it back in his pocket.
He’s met with Emily’s surprisingly moved eyes. “You’re...okay.”
What she means is, You’re happy.
He knows.
He nods. “I’m okay.”
She puts her files down and leans forward, resting her elbows on the table and lacing her fingers. “Tell me.”
So, he does.
He tells her about the way you stuck to him like glue through the divorce, the way you wiggled your way into Haley’s heart, captured the love of his son, and earned the trust of his entire family.
He tells her what Haley said in the hospital, the tenacious care you showed his unyielding and unwilling ass when he was healing, the way your grief soothed his in the wake of Haley’s loss.
He tells her about the moments of euphoria in the years of want and doubt and fear.
He tells Emily about the day she died, how there was nothing more painful than that necessary lie. He tells her how easy it was to lie to the others, how it ripped him in half to lie to you.
He tells her about the day he left for Pakistan, about the fight the night before, the kiss he pressed to your cheek on the tarmac, the endless, wretched nights missing you in the desert.
He tells her about the fight when he finally came home, skims over the following days, jumps and meanders around to Christmas, to moving in, to the bliss that now seems to follow him wherever he goes.
Emily watches the smile that plays at his mouth when he talks about you, the softness in his eyes as recalls the look on your face and the words you said and the way you are with Jack. There’s a kind of peace in him that she’s never really seen before.
Maybe, she imagines, it was there before she met him (the second time). Maybe this peace existed with Haley. Maybe this is the most she’s ever heard him speak at once. Maybe it makes her smile.
Maybe this peace is what his love looks like.
If that’s the case, she thinks, you are very lucky indeed.
It could have been hours, it could have been minutes, but at some point he stops talking.
“Hotch?”
He looks over at her, the softness lingering in his eyes.
“I’m really happy for you.”
His lips twitch. “Thanks.”
“And you know it’s my God-given right to tell everyone else once this case is over, right?”
+++
You actually are asleep by the time Aaron gets back to the hotel. He leans against the wall in the dark with his hands in his pockets, enjoying the peace before the inevitable shitshow.
He crosses the room and crouches at your side, running the back of his fingers over your cheek. You stir, sleepy noises leaving your throat as your eyes crack open.
“Aaron?”
“Yeah. Just me.”
You smile a little and close your eyes again. “How’d she take it?”
“Remarkably well.” He kisses your forehead. “Get some sleep. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“No,” you whine, drawn-out and slurred. “Don’t leave. Stay. I set an alarm.”
With a resigned sigh, he strips and slides into bed behind you, wrapping you in his arms and holding you close.
+++
You and Aaron sit on proverbial pins and needles for the rest of the case, but Emily keeps her word. The only indication of her knowledge came the morning after her chat with Aaron, when she pulled you to her and hugged you so tight you could hardly breathe.
She seizes her moment on the plane, about halfway home.
“Derek, you owe me fifty bucks.”
She hardly looks up from her book as she speaks.
He takes off his headphones and wrinkles his brow. “What?”
She repeats herself, slower, as if she was speaking to a child. “You. Owe. Me. Fifty. Bucks.”
“...Why?”
Emily finally looks up from her book to pointedly stare at you and Aaron, seated next to each other and sharing a bag of Goldfish you stole from Jack’s snack drawer. You’re both reading from the same file, absently reaching for crackers as you go along.
Derek’s confusion continues to smother his face until it finally clicks in.
He steals a page from Reid’s notebook and balls it up, tossing it across the plane and breaking your concentration. You look up, only a little startled, to find a face-splitting grin blinding you across the cabin.
Derek’s small ruckus has drawn the attention of the rest of the team - well, all except JJ, who’s fast asleep on the couch.
There seems to be a collective sigh of relief as money exchanges hands. You’re not quite sure what the bet was, but Emily seems to have won handily.
Aaron takes your hand under the table, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
It doesn’t.
Everyone simply returns to their tasks, little smiles on their faces.

early morning lover || dave york x reader
Tumblr media
Read on AO3 || Masterlist
Summary: He’s your early-morning lover, and he wants to give you another baby.
Pairings: Dave York x Wife!Reader
Genre: Smut, fluff | Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: oral (f receiving), unprotected sex, talk of pregnancy
A/N: This one's for my sweet nonnie who sent a very soft ask about baby-making sex with Dave. Nonnie, thank you so much for your patience - I hope you like this fic! ♡ (Also, in my little fantasy world, we're pretending Dave isn't a scary assassin. He's just a soft suburban dad who loves his wife and kids ♡)
Tumblr media
It was barely light outside when the alarm on Dave's phone went off. You felt him roll over to turn if off; a moment later, his face was nuzzled against your neck as he pulled you against his chest.
“Morning,” he mumbled.
You gave a sleepy groan. “I don’t wanna get up.”
He laughed softly, his breath warm against your skin. “I know, honey.”
He placated a bit of your grumpiness with his gentle kisses, his big hands roaming over your body as both of you woke up. Even though you both got up at the same time - him for work, and you to get the girls ready for school - he had always been more of a morning person than you were, and often spent the first few minutes of the day cajoling you out of bed.
“Do you ever wish I’d just spring up out of bed like you do?” you asked.
He chuckled and pulled you closer. “No, because then I wouldn’t get my morning cuddles.”
You smiled. “You do like your morning cuddles, don’t you?” Dave’s love language was physical touch, and from sunup to sundown, he could be counted on showing you how much he loved you. It was something you loved about him, and you especially liked how affectionate he was first thing in the morning, like he was giving you as much love as he could before he left for work.
Despite your best intentions, though, this morning routine frequently found Dave easing into the day while you eased into a few more minutes of sleep. He was just so warm, and you were so cosy cuddled up against him, and surely it wouldn't hurt to sleep a little longer...
“You’re falling back asleep, aren’t you?” he asked, his tone affectionate and much more awake than you felt.
You huffed and buried your face against his chest. “No.”
“It’s ok if you are, honey,” he said sweetly, and you could hear the smile in his voice. “But I think I know a nice way to wake you up.”
You considered that. “A shower?” you asked. That was one of his tricks, inviting you into the shower with him to help you wake up, and it usually worked.
“No,” he said. “But we can take a shower afterwards if you want.”
You frowned. “After what?”
“After this.”
Untangling himself from you, he ducked under the covers and tugged off your pajama shorts and underwear, leaving you in nothing but his well-loved Dallas Cowboys t-shirt.
“Dave!” you squeaked, already feeling yourself respond to his warmth.
He peeked out from under the covers at you, an impish smile on his face. “Do you think this’ll work?”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help an exasperated smile. “Well, if you’re already down there, you might as well give it a try.”
He grinned. “Atta girl.”
He worked his way over your thighs and skilfully eased into your heat, kissing everywhere, sloppy and sweet and hungry for you. Dave was nothing if not enthusiastic in his lovemaking, and his tongue quickly had you pulling at the sheets, squirming under the heady flood of stimulation.
“I’m already - oh fuck - Dave - ”
You were fleetingly concerned about being too loud and waking the girls, but damn if your husband wasn’t determined to make you cum before you could even register it happening. You didn’t really have time to be loud, so quickly did he bring you to the edge; you let out a sharp gasp of pleasure as he groaned against your heat, cumming on his tongue as he drew your orgasm out as long as he could.
“Jesus,” you managed as you came down.
“Uh-uh,” Dave said, giving your thighs a few last kisses. “Just me.”
You breathed a laugh as he wiped the back of his hand on his mouth and laid on top of you, his head and chest resting on your tummy.
“That ok?” he said. “I know it was a little fast.”
“You’re apologizing for being good at eating me out?”
He laughed. “No, I - ” He shook his head. “I won’t apologize, if you liked it. It just occurred to me that it was a little too fast, maybe.”
Compared to how he usually went down on you, it had been fast - most of the time he liked to draw it out, teasing and torturously slow, leaving you absolutely spent afterwards. But you would have been worn out before the day even started if he’d done that, and his fast pace this time had done the trick.
“No, I liked it,” you assured him.
“So you feel good and woken up now?” he asked, raising his head to give you a cheeky smile.
“Yes, thank you,” you said, combing your fingers through his hair. “I’m downright bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.”
He chuckled and laid his head back down, kneading his fingers into the soft parts of you that you often didn’t like, reminding you how much he loved them.
“Hey, honey?”
Your fingers trailed down to the nape of his neck. “What’s up?”
You felt him take a deep breath.
“I think... we should have another baby.”
Your fingers stilled. “You... you do?”
He pushed himself up until he hovered over you, leaning down to give you a kiss before he met your eyes. His face was warm and gentle with sincerity as he studied your face, and you couldn’t help a bashful smile.
He smiled too. “What?”
“Nothing,” you said. “I like it when you look at me like that.”
He hummed in agreement, pressing soft kisses to your jaw, your cheeks, your nose. “I love you.”
You let your hands drift over his shoulders, his neck. “I love you too.”
“I think we should have another baby,” he said again.
You smiled. “So you said.”
You thought of what it had been like to find out you were pregnant with Alice. Dave had been so excited and proud; you wouldn’t have been surprised to know everyone in the CIA knew Dave York was a dad-to-be. He’d been the same way with Molly, fairly glowing with happiness at the news.
Everyone knew Dave loved being a dad, especially his daughters. He was goofy and gentle with them, firm when he needed to be; he helped coach their soccer teams and came home after long days at the office to help them with their school projects. He always said the worst part of his job was leaving the three of you, his best girls; he called home every night he was away and took all of you in a bear hug as soon as he was back.
You pictured Dave with another baby in his arms, being chased around the house by three giggling little ones, telling everyone in the office of another baby York - maybe David Jr., this time. You smiled.
“Why the sudden baby fever?” you asked.
He shrugged. “I don’t know. I just..." He gave a soft laugh. "I love having kids with you. I love you, and I love our girls. I can't believe how lucky I am to be their dad and to be your husband."
You ran your thumb over his mouth. “Dave.”
“I know, I know. Since when is your husband so sentimental?”
You smiled. “That's not what I was going to say. I think it’s sweet.”
He kissed your fingers. “I think you’re sweet.”
You softened as he worked his way over your fingers, kissing the tip of each one.
“Dave?”
“Hm?”
You drew him down to kiss you. “I think we should have another baby too.”
You could feel his smile as he kissed you deeply, his hips lightly pressing against yours, nothing between you but his boxers. You were already warm from his earlier lovemaking, and you felt your body ease back into that languid, comfortable desire you felt every time he took you to bed.
“What if we start trying right now?” he said against your jaw.
You glanced at his phone on the nightstand. “Do we have time?”
“Plenty of time,” he said, not turning his attention from you.
His kisses were heady, and you felt your legs widen to draw him closer as you pushed his boxers down. Every part of Dave was as familiar as it was lovely to you now, after ten years of marriage, but you would never tire of the feel of him, broad and warm and safe against your body.
He eased into you slowly, taking his time, kissing your face and murmuring words of praise. It always surprised you, a little, when he kept your lovemaking slow without having to be asked - he usually liked it a bit rougher, a bit faster. You liked it when he had his way with you, but you loved it when he was gentle with you, and both of you took turns indulging each other’s tastes and enjoying what the other liked.
“Let me give you another baby, Mrs. York,” he said tenderly, hovering over you, kissing your face. “You do make mighty pretty ones.”
You tilted your head back as he moved in you, gasping softly, basking in the feel of him. He kissed your throat and gave a soft groan.
“Do you think it’ll be a boy or a girl?” he asked.
You cradled his face in your hands and kissed him. “Maybe a boy. It’d be nice to have a boy, wouldn’t it? I bet he’d look just like his daddy.”
He smiled. “Yeah, it would be nice to have a boy. But I hope he’d have your eyes.”
He dipped his head and kissed your collarbone, leaving love marks across your skin.
“Fuck,” you gasped. You knew you needed to be quiet, but you couldn’t help it - you bit your lip and gave a desperate moan as he angled himself deeper.
“Dave,” you keened.
His whole face lit up in delight and surprise. He moved his hand over your mouth even as he laughed.
“Shh, sweetheart,” he said gently, adoringly. “You’ll wake the girls.”
You gave a choked sigh against his hand as he rolled his hips; he moved his hand down to your breast and kissed you deeply.
“I love you so much,” he said. “You’re so beautiful. I love you.”
He took his time with you, letting your pleasure be the focus of everything he did. He cooed soft love words to you, gently reminding you to try and stay quiet, delighted when you weren’t able to. He told you he loved you when you came for him, your fingers gripping him tight enough to leave bruises as you drew him close. His sigh was choked with pleasure as he came deep inside you, kissing all over you, praising you for how lovely you were.
You curled up next to him afterwards, wanting his warmth; he propped himself on his arm next to you, tangling your legs together, tracing his thumb over the hem of your shirt where it had bunched up under your breasts.
“You look pretty in my old shirts, Mrs. York,” he said. He kissed you tenderly. “You think we made a baby?”
You smiled and ran your hand over his bicep. “Maybe. But we could always keep trying, just to be safe.”
He chuckled and kissed your jaw. “Yeah. Just to be safe.”
He kissed you for a few more minutes before his phone buzzed, and you felt his body shift against yours as he made to get up.
“No, don’t go,” you said, pulling him close. “Just stay in bed with me all day.”
“What if it’s a national emergency?” he teased.
You brushed your fingers over his cheekbone. “What’s a national emergency compared to your wife?”
You felt his smile under your hand as you saw it brighten his face.
“Can’t argue with that,” he said. You drew him down to kiss you again; you didn’t know how long you would have kept him if his phone hadn’t buzzed again.
“Maybe it is a national emergency,” you conceded. “You should probably answer it.”
“Probably,” he agreed. He gave you a quick kiss before he turned to reach for his phone. “You want to get the shower started while I see what’s going on?”
You untangled yourself from the sheets and his warmth, already missing them as you took off your shirt and put your pajamas in the laundry. You blushed under the affectionate way he watched you even as he answered the phone, his tone all business like it was every time he answered a work call.
The sound of his voice drifted across your bedroom, but the conversation was lost to you as you turned on the shower and stepped in when it was warm enough. You didn’t have to wait long for Dave; he joined you after a few minutes, wasting no time soaping up and getting ready for the day.
“Was it a national emergency?” you asked.
He smiled. “No, but I do need to get going. Apparently there’s a bunch of high-schoolers coming in for a shadowing program, and I’m supposed to be in charge of them.”
You couldn’t imagine anyone better suited to the job - most of the people Dave worked with would have nothing but disdain for a group of nervous high-schoolers, but Dave would be kind and friendly and get them where they needed to go.
“Well, in that case, you better get a move on,” you said. Your morning shower together was usually a more leisurely affair, but you kept your hands to yourself - a valiant effort, considering how much you wanted to kiss every inch of him - and let him get cleaned up. He was out of the shower before you’d started on your hair, and he was nearly dressed when you got out.
“You look very handsome,” you told him, watching the way he straightened his tie in the vanity mirror.
He smiled. “Thanks.” He turned and kissed you, a brisk, passionate goodbye.
“Sorry I can’t help you get the girls together,” he said.
“That’s ok,” you said. You patted his chest. “Go wrangle some high schoolers. The girls and I will be right here when you get back.”
He didn’t say anything for a moment, affection warming his expression.
You smiled. “What?”
He smiled back. “Nothing. I’m just glad we’re having another baby, that’s all. I love you.”
“I love you too.” You kissed him goodbye, already thinking about how much you’d like to try for a baby again when he got back home.

we’re too stupid ~ the vlog squad
word count: 1885
request?: yes!
@iawaythrown  “May I ask for a vlog squad x popular youtube reader
The reader has their own very popular youtube channel/podcast like a scientific/space podcast. (Like a Vsauce\GameTheory channel) The vlog squad and the reader fan base (somehow) always wants them to collab. One day David says "It won't happen because the reader probably doesn't like us." This ends up getting everyone on the podcast.”

“You know what I’ve been listening to a lot lately?” Scotty asked David on the newest vlog David had uploaded. You were watching the vlog on your TV while you prepared to upload the newest episode of your podcast. You had a drink half raised to your lips when Scott responded to his own question, “The Spaced Out podcast.”
Your drink nearly slipped from your hand at the mention of your podcast. You were sure you had imagined it, so you went back and repeated the part just to be sure. The name of your podcast slipped from Scott’s lips again and you had to pause the video to scream with excitement.
When you placed the video again, David spoke next. “Oh wait, is that the one about space and shit? You played it for me before.”
“Yeah! Man, it’s so interesting. I could honestly listen to the host talk about space all day,” Scott said.
“He keeps bringing it up during the Scottcast, too,” Jeff commented. “I’m starting to think he’d rather co-host that podcast instead of our own.”
“Man, I’d love to be on that podcast!”
You could hardly contain your excitement. Your favorite YouTubers knew who you were?! They knew your podcast?! You had to be dreaming, you were sure of it.
“There’s no way they’d ever have us on the podcast,” David was saying. “We’re too stupid and immature, they’d probably hate us.”
“Speak for yourself!” Zane, dressed in some weird costume for a bit, called, causing the boys to laugh together.
This gave you an idea. You put your laptop aside and opened Instagram on your phone. You searched the name “David Dobrik” and went to his DMs.
~~~~~~
A week later, your podcasting room was filled with 11 extra people than there normally was. The room was only small with a handful of seats, so a lot of your guests were squeezed in together or basically sat on one another. No one seemed to mind, though. Every single person in the room was super excited to be there.
“What’s up all my space geeks? Welcome back to another episode of The Spaced Out podcast, the podcast where we discuss super nerdy space things,” you started with your usual intro. “Today’s episode is a little different, though, as today I am joined by not one, not two, not even three, but eleven special guests. You heard me right, eleven. Special guests, wanna say hi?”
All eleven of your guests rang out with a chorus of, “Hello!”s at the one time, making it all come out as just a shouting mess. You laughed and waved a hand to silence them.
“In case you had trouble understanding what they were saying,” you said, “my guests today are David, Scotty, Toddy, Zane, Erin, Carly, Natalie, Heath, Mariah, Corinna, and Jeff, better known as a large chunk of YouTube’s biggest vlogging group: The Vlog Squad!”
The Vlog Squad cheered at their introduction as you just clapped your hands.
“Can I just say,” Heath said once the noise started to die down, “that I am impressed with how fast you said our names and how easy it was. You didn’t even stutter once.”
“I’ll be honest, when David told me exactly who was coming I prepared myself for this,” you admitted. “I’ve never had so many guests on the show before. Actually, I don’t know if I’ve ever had any guests at all. I don’t really know anyone in my real life that’s as interested in space and science as I am.”
“To be fair, none of us are, either,” Jeff joked, causing the room to laugh.
“Yeah, you picked the wrong people to be on your podcast,” Corinna added.
“You don’t have to have any sort of interest to be on the podcast, really. As long as you don’t mind me talking about my nerdy space obsession every now and then anyone is welcome on the podcast.”
Your heart was beating so fast you were sure everyone else could hear it. You were shocked that you were managing to remain so calm in that moment. Your favorite YouTubers were sitting right there in front of you, being guests on your podcast, and somehow you were acting as though they were just friends that you had convinced to come on the podcast.
“Is there any cool space facts you can share with us to get the ball rolling?” David asked.
“Dude, I’ve made over 300 episodes of this podcast that is literally all about space, you gotta narrow down your parameters there,” you told him.
“What’s your favorite space fact then?”
You thought for a moment, going through all the little facts you had in your mind. There was so much you could share with them that you really didn’t know where to start.
“Okay,” you said finally, “I have one. I think David will like this cause we all know he’s made of money: there is a planet that is called 55 Cancri e. It is over twice the size of Earth and it is potentially made of diamonds.”
They all gasped and made comments of astonishment at the same time at this.
“Like, literally made of diamonds?” Corinna asked.
“It’s hard to know for sure. It’s roughly 41 lightyears away so it’s not exactly easy to reach, but they think it’s made of graphite and diamonds,” you explained. “My favorite fact, and one that’s a little scary, is that it’s actually completely silent in space. Like not a single sound, because atmospheres around planets are what contain the soundwaves to make noise.”
“I told you,” David said, turning to face Scott. “We’re too stupid to be on this podcast.”
You all laughed together. “You guys aren’t stupid! I was just fascinated with space as a child and my parents let me feed into that fascination. They always bought me books about space and brought me to visit certain space centers. I was that kid that always said she was gonna grow up and be an astronaut. Instead, I just talk about them on the internet.”
Everything was going so well. You were getting to know your guests and they kept urging you to tell them facts and stories about space. You knew a lot of what you were telling them you had talked about on the podcast before, so devoted listeners probably wouldn’t be too interested in a lot of what you had to say in that episode, but you didn’t mind too much. You just loved to see the looks of astonishment on everyone’s faces as you continued to tell them fact after fact.
When you came to a segment you did in the podcast in which you would read messages from fans, you decided to your guests choose which messages to read and respond to. David took the tablet you used for this first and read through the thousands of messages you received between uploading your most recent episode and recording the current one.
“Are you going to talk about the new 4K pictures of Mars?” he read.
“Oh my God, yes!” you responded. “That will be next episode. I haven’t looked at them all yet because I wanna have a live reaction to them, but I did see one picture and it looks absolutely stunning.”
“It blew my mind how it just looked like a desert here,” Carly commented. “Mars is a lot more like Earth than we think. Sucks that we’ll never be able to live there or anything.”
“I don’t think we’ll never be able to live there, but I don’t think it’ll happen in our lifetimes,” you commented. “But that’s a whole other thing, let’s move on from that.”
“What has been your favorite space related story of the past year?” Natalie read the message she had picked.
“I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but it’s definitely one that I was very interested in reading: a star just vanished in 2020,” you responded. “Apparently that’s something that can just happen, stars can just suddenly disappear and no one knows where they went. This star from the Kinman dwarf galaxy that shined almost brighter than the sun just vanished between 2011 and 2020, and they have no explanation for it. That story stuck with me the most cause I just find it funny that a star that bright just vanished and no one can figure out where it went.”
They continued reading you messages for a while before passing your tablet back to you.
“While I wish I could sit here with you guys and talk about space and your vlogs forever, unfortunately we are running out of time,” you said. “I want to thank the Vlog Squad again for joining me on this episode, and I hope I didn’t bore you guys to death with my stories and facts.”
“Not at all!” David spoke. “I can’t speak for everyone, but I really enjoyed myself. Listening to you talk was really interesting.”
The rest of the group agreed. You tried not to blush from all their kind words.
“I always wanna thank our sponsors again. As always I appreciate them supporting my show, and of course I want you guys, the listeners. Your constant support for the show means so much to me. If you wanna hear more fun facts about space that you’ll never use in live, follow me on my social media. If you’re not already following the podcast, follow the podcast! I upload episodes every Friday, and if you want to be involved in the show be sure to send me your space related messages and maybe I’ll read them out on the next episode. Have a good weekend, little space geek out!”
You ended the recording and the group almost cheered for you. You smiled and stood to thank them again for coming on the show. You were shocked when Corinna pulled you into a hug, which caused the rest of the group to hug you one by one.
“This was the most fun I think I’ve ever had,” Erin commented. “Would you be open to having more guests on the show? I’d love to come back and to just listen to you talk for a full hour.”
The rest of the squad agreed. You really didn’t think you could feel any more excited or on cloud nine, but they kept surprising you.
“I would definitely be open to having guests again,” you replied. “If you guys ever wanna be on the show again, just send me a DM. I’d love to have you!”
“We’d love to have you on the vlogs sometime, too, if you’d be open for that,” David told you.
There they go again, making you feel like you had passed cloud nine and now were on a completely different planet with excitement.
“Y-Yeah!” you managed. “Of course, I’d love that!”
After some more small talk, you showed the group out and thanked them again for coming. Once you were sure they were gone and unable to see you, you began jumping for joy and exclaiming with excitement. You couldn’t believe it! You had just hosted a podcast with your favorite people, and they asked you to join them for filming sometime?!
“This is the best day of my life!”
OKAY BIG AU RANT BUT I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS (even though i posted all of this in the discord last night) AND UH:
modern au where most the newsies are straight and in a frat and jack is the frat president
very stereotypical frat bro, wears his letters everyday (whether it's a t-shirt of a cap or a pin on his bag), throws a whole bunch of parties and is really respected and stuff
he gets around, and has been with a bunch of girls throughout college- nothing really serious, but whatever.
everything is going great, until he meets David Jacobs at a party the frat is throwing.
and obviously jack has seen him around campus before (they're in their fourth year of college by now), and they had a few labs together back in like. freshman year, but they've never *talked*
and now, here's david, at a party with Katherine, and jack decides to talk to him.
they actually hit it off pretty well, but then jack mentions something about david taking Katherine home and David laughs and says, "Yeah, she's gonna help me weed out my grindr matches."
cue jack being like "???" because OH! jacobs is gay. huh. okay
and jack obviously makes a big show of it ("oh, sick! being gay is okay, bro, y'know, love is love and shit like that") and it's so obvious that he's out of his element but he doesn't wanna be like. homophobic or anything
and they kind of talk for a bit longer before jack drifts off to another group of people, and he doesn't think much of the interaction- at least, not until he runs into david at another party on campus the next weekend. this time, they're alone; jack is only there bc one of his buds in another frat told him to come, and david has lost Katherine in the crowd, so jack and david talk in the kitchen and get to know each other a bit more. again, everything is pretty New and they kind of friends now but they're talking and that's fine.
later on that night, jack sees david making out with some guy on the staircase, and to get his mind off of it, jack makes out with a girl in the kitchen.
over the next few weeks, david and jack run into each other a lot- enough times for them to exchange snapchats, and follow each other on Instagram. and they talk more on social media; jack invites david to some parties and david always comes, and they always end up talking- for longer and longer each time, like ACTUAL conversations about the past and their future goals and stuff
about three months after their initial meeting, though (after they've become good friends, who talk/snap everyday and hang out at least once a week), they're at a party, and jack gets pretty drunk, and he sees david making out with some guy on the couch. and jack doesn't know why, but he feels bad. angry. kind of upset. he approaches and tells david he needs to talk to him, and David says no ("uh, i'm kind of in the middle of something?")
and jack tries getting him to move and the other guy- the one David is making out with- starts getting in jack's face and calling him names, so jack... decks him.
he decks him, and he's immediately feeling guilty and bad and the commotion has stopped all around him and everyone is staring and david looks so confused and pissed off
and all jack can do is say "i'm so sorry" and run off
it's not until he's home that he realizes that, the reason he punched that guy in the face, was because he didn't like the idea of him having his hands on david.
because jack wants to be the one with his hands on david.
as soon as that realization hits him, though, jack basically has a meltdown. he's frustrated and crying and kind of throwing shit around but not really because, no. he can't be gay. right? he can't be. he literally has like 3 gay friends and he doesn't know anything about being gay and he's never been into a guy before but, fuck, he's into david.
naturally, though, jack avoids david for as long as he can. he avoids him like the plague
until one night, about six days later, when jack is drunk again (not from a party; more like self pity) and around two am one night, he walks to David's dorm room and knocks really loudly. and it takes a minute, but David answers, and as soon as the door opens, jack starts talking.
"Davey! Hi!"
"...Jack, what are you--"
"Listen, I'm very drunk. Very drunk. and I get it, ya probably don't wanna see me ever again, but I need to talk to ya, because- cause I ain't talked to ya in days, and I miss you, and I'm sorry."
"Jack, it's late, and--"
"Y'know, no one has been talkin' to me since the party. None'a my friends, no one from class... I fucked up, and I'm sorry, and I don't have an excuse, but I just... Do you know what's goin' on right now? 'Cause I sure as hell don't."
"What do you mean?"
"Have you been flirtin' with me?"
"I- I'm sorry, what--"
"'Cause I can't tell if you've been flirting with me or not, and I can't tell if i like it or not, but if you're flirtin' with me, then I've been likin' it, and thats fucking terrifying. Seein' you with that guy... I- I know we ain't a thing or anything, but it fuckin' sucked, and I don't even know why! Okay? Because I think I like you, but I've never been into a dude, and you're a dude and that's- that's fuckin' scary, man. But it'll be fine, and I'll deal with it, and I'm sorry. Night, davey."
and all david can do it watch jack stumble back down the hallway, and pray that jack remembers this in the morning.
and obviously jack remembers, because around noon the next day- a sunday- david gets a message from jack that says, 'we need to talk.'
so, david meets jack at one of the benches in front of the library, and jack looks so... broken, and defeated, and hungover as fuck.
"...You remember last night, huh?"
"Unfortunately, yeah. Look, Dave, I... I'm sorry. All of that was- was a lot, and you shouldn't have had to deal with my bullshit, and--"
"Did you mean it?"
"...Yeah. Yeah, I did."
and they're silent for a long time, until david rubs his arm and says
"For the record, I don't even know the name of the guy you punched."
"You two ain't--?"
"No, we aren't together. I... I've sort of had my eye on someone else."
and then david slowly takes jack's hand, and he san feel how tense and how shaky jack is, and he can see how scared he is, but then jack squeezes david's hand, and things start looking up. obviously they still have to deal with the fallout (and david is still very ,, Not Happy about jack punching that guy), but for the most part, they take things slow and figure it out as they go.
when jack comes out to the rest of the guys, he's really nervous and he does it in one of their weekly frat meetings, and of course there are a few of the guys who try to start shit, but the majority of the frat (other newsies included) are fine with it and are proud of jack.
i imagine all if this happening around,, December, so then once second semester hits, jack is less focused on partying and more focused on developing his relationship with david and working on accepting himself for who he is.
also HUGE shout out to the discord server for dealing with me spamming the chat with these paragraphs last night, namely @tarantulas4davey , @starz-in-our-eyes , and @santagae !!!!!
"Wanna come for dinner at my parents' house tonight?"
Davey is laying on Jack's couch after his last class of the day, since Jack's apartment is just off campus, and it's a ridiculously convenient place to go nap after a long day of school. He honestly spends more time here than at his own apartment that he shares with his sister, a short train ride away.
"I'd love to," Jack replies, his gaze still glued to his computer screen, "but I totally forgot I have an art history paper due at midnight, analyzing a painting, and I haven't started. It needs to be ten pages, and I don't even have an outline. I'm gonna sit here and write until my eyeballs fall out."
Davey laughs softly.
"That sucks. Do you at least have some research done?"
Jack turns to him with completely dead eyes.
"Not a single academic source."
Davey glances at the clock. Jack has seven hours to pull this off, which is doable, but... intense. It would've been a lot easier to spread it out over a few afternoons, and it'll be a painful squeeze to get ten comprehensible pages of writing done tonight. Jack can write decently fast, but his spelling and grammar are atrocious, so he'll have to factor in editing time too. Davey is not envious of these circumstances in the slightest.
"Shit. Good luck. That sounds awful, but I'm rooting for you. What's your prof's late assignment policy?"
Jack, entirely beaten down, leans forward to rest his forehead on his keyboard.
"He won't accept them past the due date without a good reason... which I don't have. I'm just an idiot and forgot to put it in my planner— thank god Romeo texted me today to ask if I was done."
Davey pushes himself up and walks over to where Jack is sitting at his little dining table, under the constantly-flickering fluorescent bulb. He wraps his arms around Jack's shoulders and kisses the back of his neck.
"You got this. I'll come back here after dinner and bring you leftovers, okay? My mom's gonna be sad you couldn't make it, so she'll totally pack up a plate for you."
"You don't have to come all the way here," Jack sighs. "Your place is closer to your parents, and this is out of your way— you have work in the morning anyways, so you should go home and go to bed. I'll be fine, I'll probably write faster alone anyways."
Davey kisses him again, this time leaning around to plant one on his cheek.
"If you're sure." Jack's plan is probably the smart move, since Davey's shifts at his stupid coffee shop job start ridiculously early, and coming here would mean staying up with Jack until he finishes, probably distracting him. "In that case, I'll see you tomorrow after work, and I'll bring the food then... keep me posted about the paper, text me when you finish. And make sure you eat something."
Jack turns back to look at him with a strained, stressed attempt at a smile.
"For sure. Go have a nice time with your family, and tell everyone I say hi."
-
"Aba, you're doing it wrong. You have to use your left arm."
It's getting late in the evening, dinner has been eaten, and Les is trying to coordinate the family to make a TikTok with him. It's not exactly going well.
"My left or your left?"
"It doesn't matter, we have the same left!"
Davey has thankfully been placed in the back row, both because he's tall and lanky, and because he's so uncoordinated that Mom used to make you wear one of those leash backpacks as a kid to keep you from wandering into traffic... which is true, but Davey isn't sure why Les even knows about that. He certainly wasn't around yet when that was the case, so he probably heard it from Sarah.
While Les tries once again to explain how this little dance is supposed to work, Davey's phone starts to buzz in his pocket. It's probably a spam call, but he's not particularly invested in the dance lesson so he pulls it out to check.
Incoming call: cowboy babyy 💖🤠
Davey frowns. Jack never calls him. It's always texts or voice memos, since he's got some kind of weird aversion to talking on the phone. If he's calling, it must be important.
"Hi babe," he says, pressing his phone to his ear and walking off to his old bedroom to get some quiet, while Les shouts at him in the background for not taking this seriously. "How's the homework going?"
Jack is quiet for a second too long as Davey toes the door shut.
"...Not great. I'm really frustrated." He pauses and sniffles a little, sounding almost like he's holding back tears. "I don't know why I called you while you're having a good time with your family, though. I shouldn't be bugging you."
"Hey," Davey breathes, "you're not bugging me at all, sweetheart. Is the paper not going well?"
"I just... I'm so bad at writing, and I don't know what I'm talking about, and I have no idea how I'm gonna get this done in time." His voice is shaking, and it's breaking Davey's heart a little. "I'm being dramatic, though. I just need to keep working on it."
Davey sits down on the edge of what's now a guest bed, his old outer space-themed comforter replaced with something more neutral.
"You're not dramatic, it's okay to be upset. Do you want me to come over and help?"
Jack's breath hitches softly, and it confirms that he's almost definitely crying.
"You don't have to, you're busy with your folks. I'm sorry for calling." He shudders a little as he must try to take a deep breath. "It's okay... I'm fine."
Davey sighs, almost exasperated with Jack's self-sacrificial sense of pride. He'll never ask for anything for himself, not wanting anyone to go out of their way for him, even when he seems to be having a panic attack of sorts.
"It's not okay; you're clearly not fine, Jackie," he replies. "We already ate, and I'm not busy. If you want me to come over, I'll be there... do you?"
Jack is quiet for a moment again, taking a deep, shaky breath.
"Yeah. I do."
Davey nods, though Jack can't see him.
"Okay. I want you to take a little break from writing until I get there, alright? Change into your pyjamas and have a glass of water. Try to relax a little."
"Okay... thanks Davey."
The call ends, and Davey rejoins his family while tucking his phone away in his pocket.
"I have to go." He kisses his mother on the head as he walks by. "Thanks for dinner, Ima."
"Is everything okay?" she asks, catching him gently by the elbow before he can get too far.
"Yeah..." he sighs. "Jack's just having a hard time with homework, I'm gonna go help him out."
His father ruffles his hair and gives him a quick hug.
"You're a good boy, David. Take him those leftovers— your mother's cooking can fix anything."
"For sure. I'll see you guys next weekend, and I'll try to bring Jack along then."
He waves goodbye to Sarah and Les, grabs the dish of food, and then sets off on a speed-walk to the nearest subway station.
-
Jack is sitting on the couch when he arrives, his knees pulled to his chest, looking very soft and cozy in pyjama pants and one of Davey's old hoodies from some baseball tournament. He's staring into space, and he hardly even moves to acknowledge Davey's presence when he walks in.
"Hey darling." Davey leaves the dish of food on the counter and crouches down in front of Jack to try and catch his eye-line. He carefully takes Jack's hands in his own. "Hanging in there?"
Jack finally looks at him and nods, but as he blinks, more tears slip out and roll down his cheeks.
"I'm only done two pages," he mumbles, practically whispering. "I don't know why it's so hard, but I just can't do it."
"Oh, Jackie..." Davey reaches up to wipe Jack's tears, cupping his face gently with both hands. "Hey, you still have three hours, right?" Jack nods. "That's lots of time. We're gonna figure this out... let's just sit here and calm down a little first. It's gonna be okay."
He climbs up onto the couch to pull Jack into a hug, and the moment he's settled, Jack wraps his arms around him and breaks, sobbing into his shoulder. Davey cards his fingers through his hair and rubs his back; he's never seen Jack this distraught, especially not over homework. There's a good chance the problem runs a lot deeper, and stressing over an assignment was simply the last straw.
"You're alright," Davey continues, since talking is what he does best, even in moments like this. Jack is shaking with the force of his tears, breathing so hard Davey worries he might hyperventilate. "Listen, it's just one assignment, my love... if you get a bad grade, or if we don't finish in time, we can deal with that. We'll hand in whatever we finish tonight, so at least you won't get a zero. Worst case scenario, you retake this class in the spring... even that doesn't sound so bad, does it? I know you could handle it, if that's what happens."
Jack nods a little, but his tears don't stop.
"I'm so tired of being stupid," he hiccups, after a long while. "I keep getting distracted, and I can't word things right, and I spell everything wrong, and- and maybe I should just drop out, because I'm clearly not meant to be doing this."
"Baby..." Davey sighs, giving him a gentle kiss on the temple. "You're so intelligent, Jack. You're almost done your degree— after this term, you've only got one year left, and it's not like you do poorly in your classes, is it? Even when it's something hard for you, like writing, you always do well when you put in the work. What did you get on your sociology paper a couple weeks ago?"
"Ninety percent," Jack mumbles, muffled by the way he's speaking into Davey's shoulder. "But I spent so long on it, and you edited it for me. I'm gonna fail this one. I can't do it in one night, and I can't write papers without your help."
"Well, I'm here to help now, aren't I?" He rests his hand midway through brushing it through Jack's hair and scratches his scalp gently, which makes Jack shiver and laugh quietly through his tears. "Right? And you can write, darling— all I do is fix up the spelling and grammar for you. The ideas and words are all you, just like when you give presentations and knock it out of the park every time. I sure can't do that."
Jack finally looks up at him.
"Yes you can. You get nervous beforehand, but when you do a presentation, it's always really good."
Davey smiles at him, now that they're actually looking at each other.
"It's hard for me, though. Just like writing is for you— but with lots of effort, you're really good at it. See my point?"
Slowly, a small smile spreads across Jack's teary-eyed face, and he nods. Davey feels rather accomplished with this development.
"I guess so." He wipes at his eyes and sighs. "Sorry about this. I'm such a mess."
"No apologies. I don't blame you for getting overwhelmed— you're in a tough spot here." He pulls Jack in for a quick kiss, which they both smile into. "I brought you dinner. Go heat it up when you're ready; I'll look over what you've written so far and see if I can come up with some more ideas to add on. We're gonna work together on it, okay? What painting did you choose?"
"The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew by Caravaggio," Jack sighs, looking almost forlornly at his computer on the table. "I have a lot to say about it, and lots of good stuff in my notes, but I just can't put it into paragraphs and sentences that make sense."
Davey nods, watching Jack as he stands up to go put the leftovers from Davey's family in the microwave.
"Well, I don't know anything about paintings, but if you talk me through it, I can help you put the actual paper together." He pauses as an idea dawns on him. "I'm gonna email your professor and ask about an extension— it might be a shot in the dark, but we should at least try. The worst he can do is say no."
"Sure," Jack replies from the kitchen, his voice still shaky. "He's a total hardass, though. Fingers crossed for a miracle."
Davey sits at the table, opens up Jack's email, and starts a draft.
Hi Professor Diaz,
Apologies for the short notice, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to have an extension on the analysis assignment, even if it's just by a few hours. I unfortunately mixed up some due dates in my planner, and I thought I had an extra week for this assignment; I only realized the mistake today, so I'm currently scrambling to get it done in time.
Would it be at all possible to turn it in a few hours late, just to have a bit more time to finish it up? I would really appreciate any amount of time you're willing to give me.
Thank you in advance for your understanding, Jack Kelly
He shrugs, sends it, and sincerely hopes a little professionalism and a decent (if slightly fabricated to make Jack look less forgetful) excuse will go a long way.
-
It's quarter to eleven, the paper is now five-and-a-half pages long, and Jack isn't crying anymore. He's in the zone, talking aloud about the painting while Davey helps him get his vague ideas into concrete sentences, and they're on track to have at least seven or eight pages by the time midnight rolls around— it might not get full marks, but it'll be better than nothing.
Jack's computer dings with the sound of a new email while they're taking a two-minute break— something they've interspersed every half hour, since Jack's focus is best in shorter bouts. He's in the middle of walking laps around the apartment to get his energy out and annoy his downstairs neighbours, but he scrambles back to the computer at the noise.
"We got a reply!" he shouts.
Davey is over on the couch, and he watches Jack's face closely as he opens the email. So far, so good... and then he slumps down in his chair in a show of what could either be defeat or relief. Davey can't quite tell, so he jumps up to go read it for himself.
Sure. Email it by 11:59pm tomorrow.
Sent from my iPhone
"Yes!" Davey shouts, grabbing Jack by the shoulders. "I told you it was worth a shot!"
Jack laughs, and then reaches up to pull Davey down for a kiss.
"You're the best, Jacobs. A fucking lifesaver." He rubs at his eyes, and then pushes his computer away, across the table. "I'll deal with this tomorrow. Let's just go to bed— you still have to be up early."
Right. Davey has a dreaded Saturday morning opening shift tomorrow— they open at five, and he has to be there well in advance to get set up, so he's got no chance at getting more than a few hours of sleep. He's going to be dead on his feet in the morning, probably fuck up a few coffee orders, but it'll be worth it to have helped Jack through tonight.
Poor Jack seems completely exhausted— as anyone would be after crying so hard earlier— so collapsing into bed after washing up quickly is an utter relief. Davey, despite being tall and long-limbed, greatly enjoys being the little spoon and Jack is happy to indulge him, so they curl into the familiar position.
"Thank you for everything tonight," Jack whispers, practically into Davey's ear. "I love you so much."
Davey smiles as his eyes fall shut, and he kisses Jack's knuckles softly, where his arm is wrapped around him.
"Any time, darling. I love you too."
Office Neighbors - Part Ten
a/n: okay A LOT happens in this part, lots of tension, please don’t be mad at me (reblogs and feedback are super helpful!)
warnings: angst, fluff, and smut
words: 17K
masterpost
Tumblr media
“They’re gonna know.” You say as you frantically try to fix your smudged makeup on the car ride back to the cabin.
“They’re not gonna know.” Harry chuckles.
“They’re gonna know!”
“How would they know?”
You make a scoffing noise at him.
“Let’s see, my mascara has run down my cheeks, and my hair looks awfully fucked up. We’re also later than we said we’d be.” You look at him and reach your hand out to smooth out some of his hair.
“We’ll just tell them we got a bite to eat. Just go straight to our room. The lights will probably be dimmed when we get in anyways.” He takes your hand and kisses it. “It’s not a big deal.”
“It’s embarrassing, I don’t want them to know.”
“What’s embarrassing about having a quickie in the car?”
“It’s like we were teenagers with no self-control.” You mutter.
“Was kind of nice to do something so spontaneous. Suppose it was my fault for making things difficult in the gondola. If Mum and Dad scold us, I’ll take the blame.” He smirks.
“But if you do that, they’ll never let me see you again! You’ll have to start sneaking in through the window.”
“It’ll be worth if it means I get to see you.” He winks and you start laughing. “Oh! Just say you laughed so hard you cried if they ask.”
“They’ll never believe that! You really are a narcissist if you think you’re that funny.” You smirk. Harry glares at you and it makes you laugh harder.
“Yeah, I’m not funny at all.” He says facetiously.
You take a deep breath once you’re back at the house. The lights were definitely dimmed, so maybe no one would really notice how fucked up you looked.
“Hey, you two.” Paige smiles. She was all snuggled up with Noah on the couch. “The kids are in bed already, they were exhausted. You should have seen it, Harry.” She pouts. “Noah had to carry both of them off to bed, and Andy even let me tuck him in, it was so sweet.”
“He sure is cute when he’s drowsy.” Harry agrees. “Well, we’re gonna go to sleep to, so-“
“How was the gondola ride?” Noah asks.
“It was great, I would highly recommend it.”
“Maybe we should take everyone tomorrow night since it’s our last night.” Noah says to Paige.
“Yeah!” She squints over at you. “Are you feeling alright, Y/N?”
“You know,” Harry puts his arm around you, “she got a little nauseous on the way down, it’s why we’re a little late coming back, I had to drive slower. So we’re gonna head to bed now.” He smiles and starts walking with you to your room.
“Hmm.” Paige says. “She goes to bed early a lot and now she’s nauseous.”
“You think she’s pregnant?”
“Maybe.” She shrugs. “We’re all going out for dinner tomorrow, we could see if she orders a drink or something.”
You and Harry scurry into your room, and you feel like you can breathe again.
“Nice save.” You say to him as you start to get undressed. “Mind if I use the bathroom first? I have to pee so bad.”
“Go for it.” He chuckles.
Once you’re both settled in bed you lay your head on Harry’s chest with a sigh. He rubs your back as you both slowly drift off.
//
After getting some skiing in, and taking the kids tubing, you all get ready for a nice dinner in the small resort town. It was a Chinese food place that offered buffet, so it was perfect for everyone. The kids loved piling up their plates. You did order a cocktail, so that squashed any thoughts Paige and Noah had of you being pregnant.
The kids talk about what they liked most about their week away, as do all of the adults. The food is excellent, and everyone has a good time.
“Andy, did you wanna come back with us tomorrow, or go with Dad and Y/N?” Paige asks as Harry and Noah quietly squabble over the check.
“Um, well, I think Brandon wanted to hang out tomorrow night, so I’ll go with Dad.”
“Alright, honey. What did Brandon do over break?”
“His family goes skiing at Loon.”
“What about Caroline?”
“Mum, why is this turning into twenty questions?”
“It’s not, baby, I was just-“
“Well, stop.” He picks around at the peas on his fork.
“Andy…” You put your hand on his shoulder. “She was just asking you a question.”
“She doesn’t need to know every little thing.” You give him a look, and he rolls his eyes before he looks at Paige again. “She stayed home, went sledding a few times, and her sisters drove her down to the mall, okay?”
“There’s a boy at Hebrew school that thinks I’m cute.” Rachel says. This catches Noah’s attention, which means Harry wins the bill, just like he wanted.
“What?”
“Yeah, you know David? He told me so.”
“Rachel, you’re way too young for boys to be telling you that you’re cute.” Noah frowns.
“But it’s okay for Andy to have a girlfriend? He’s only a year older than I am.” She huffs.
“Okay, what do you say we head out, yeah?” Harry says. “Everything’s all set.” You and Harry stand up as does everyone else.
“You get everything you want.” Rachel mumbles to Andy as they leave the restaurant.
“What are you talking about?”
“Everyone’s extra nice to you, and then when it comes to me I have a ton of rules to follow. It’s not fair.”
“Sorry your dad is more strict than mine, that’s not my fault.”
“No, it’s because I’m a girl and you’re a boy, and boys get whatever they want.”
“Rach, I-“
“Whatever.” She rolls her eyes.
Everyone gets in their cars to head back to the cabin, and Andy follows Rachel into the bunk room.
“Do you really think I get whatever I want?”
“What does it matter what I think?” She sits down on her bed and looks at him. “You know, I’m glad you’re going back with your dad for the rest of the weekend. It’s better when you’re not around.”
“Do you really mean that?” He sits down next to her.
“You don’t care.” She looks away. “You don’t even like me, Andy.”
“That’s not true…I like you.” She looks at him and gives him an unconvinced face. “I do! Look, I know when you and your dad first moved into my mum’s house, I wasn’t-“
“You literally asked to move out a month later. I was excited to not be the only kid around because my dad works so much, and you just left! You’re not the only one that feels sad sometimes, you know? And I hate it when you say ‘my mum’, guess what? She’s mine too.” She crosses her arms and Andy’s eyebrows raise. “You can be such a brat sometimes.”
“You sure are just letting it all out…”
“Yeah, I’m gonna keep letting it all out. You’re not even nice to my dad half the time, do you know how much that bothers me? He tries so hard to make sure you’re happy, and you don’t even care.”
“Maybe he should try less then. I don’t need him trying to impress me.”
“No, but it makes Mom happy to see you happy, so that’s why he does it. Y/N does the same exact thing.”
“No she doesn’t.” Andy scoffs. “Y/N’s my friend, she understands me.”
“You just like her because you like your dad better.”
“That’s not true!”
“Yes it is! It’s so obvious, and you don’t even care how much it kills Mom!” Rachel stands up and so does Andy.
“Stop calling her that! She’s not your mum and she never will be!”
“Newsflash, this summer she officially will be and there’s nothing you can do about it!”
The two of them stare at each other angrily. Rachel had never really spoken up to Andy like this before. Guess she was sick of his shit.
“You’re a spoiled brat.” She spits. “You never speak to Mom nicely, or it’s rare if you do.” She starts tearing up. “You have no idea how lucky you are to have a mom that loves you as much as she does, and now you have Y/N. I may have been little when my mom died, but I miss her every single day, and your mom…well…she takes a lot of that way.”
“Shit…it was around this time of year…wasn’t it? When your mum-“
“I don’t wanna talk about.” She wipes a few tears away. “You know what’s really annoying? I still feel like that you’re basically my brother. I just wish you felt the same way about me.”
She goes into her dresser, grabs her things for bed, and goes into the bathroom to do her thing.
“Kids! We have ice cream for you!” Paige shouts.
Rachel comes out in her pj’s and looks at Andy.
“Well? Are we having ice cream?” She says.
“Wait…” He puts his hand on her shoulder. “I’m really sorry.”
“No you’re not.”
“I am…I…guess I don’t always realize when I’m being rude. I’ve been coming around to things a lot more. I’m happy that Mum is marrying your dad because he makes her happy. That’s all I want for her, for both my parents. I know how lucky I am…and…maybe I didn’t want a sister at first. When you both started coming around more, I felt like I was being replaced. Like Mum liked you better because she finally had a daughter or something, and then when you moved in…I took the easy way out and ran to my dad instead of dealing with everything. But…it’s the best thing I could have done. I’m a lot happier with him.” He smiles at her. “Isn’t this what brothers and sister do? They fight sometimes…”
“You don’t see me as a sister…”
“Sure I do.” He shrugs. “You’re my annoying little sister, and I’m your bratty older brother. It’s perfect.” He throws an arm around her. “Come on, let’s go get some ice cream.”
“Okay.” She smiles and walks with him. “Sometimes you need to remember that we’re on the same side.”
“Yeah…we are, aren’t we?”
“Was everything okay in there?” Harry asks. “Thought I heard shouting…” He sizes the both of them up.
“Oh! We were just fighting over who could use the bathroom first, Uncle Harry.” Rachel giggles. “I won, though.”
The kids smile at each other and sit down at the table to make up their bowls of ice cream. After everyone’s done, Andy helps Paige clean up in the kitchen.
“Mum?”
“Yes, honey?”
“I’m sorry for being rude at the table earlier…”
“Oh…well, I’m not going to say it’s alright because I really don’t like it when you speak to me that way. You do it your father too, and I really don’t like that.”
“I know…I don’t know why I do it, it just happens. I feel really bad about it…” He looks up at her, and she smiles at his sweet face. “I…I love you, Mum.”
“Oh, baby, I love you too.” They throw their arms around each other. “I hate that you’re getting older. Your attitude is only going to get worse.” She chuckles.
“And you’ll still love me?”
“Of course I will, do you promise to still love me?”
“Yeah.” He smiles up at her. “I promise.”
//
It was a great week away, and you enjoyed bonding with everyone, but you were happy to be heading home.
“Har, just drop me off at my place, yeah?” You say as he takes the exit for your town.
“Oh…really?”
“Yeah, I wanna do laundry, and I need to go grocery shopping, and then I need to get some work done.”
“You can literally do all of that back at my place.”
“Harry, I’d like to go back to my place.”
“Okay.”
Harry gets out of the car to help you with your things once he’s pulled up to your complex. He walks you up to the door.
“Did I do something wrong?”
“What?! No, babe, I just, you know, it was a really social week. I’m tired and I have things to do. It’s nothing personal.”
“Alright.”
“I love you.” You smile. “I had such a good time. I’ll call you tomorrow, okay?” He nods and lets you kiss him goodbye, but you knew he wasnt thrilled you weren’t coming back over. “Please don’t be upset.”
“I’m not.” He kicks some rocks on the ground. “Was just sort of hoping to be alone since Andy’s going to the movies with Brandon later.”
“Come over later then.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.” You smile. “We can, uh, finally use that candle.” You wink at him and go into your building, leaving him completely flustered.
Harry smiles and gets back in the car.
“Dad, I’m gonna need some extra money tonight…”
“Oh? Gonna load up on snacks at the movies?” He chuckles.
“No…we’re going on a double date, and I’d like to offer to pay for Caroline like how you do for Y/N.”
“A double date at the movies?! You can have the money, but there better not be any funny business. I want a full synopsis from start to finish, and-“
“I’m not going to make out with her, no worries there.”
“Good…it’s not nice to swap spit like that in such a public space.”
“So, you’ve never made out at the movies?”
“Uhh, well, I was a little older than you so-“
“Enough said, I don’t need to know.”
Harry and Andy get into the house and put some of their things away. Harry ends up laying down on his bed for a bit to read and relax, and Andy comes in lay down next to him, twiddling his thumbs.
“What’s up, buddy?”
“Nothing…does something have to be up?”
“No, but you don’t exactly come in to snuggle with me anymore.” He smirks.
“You can read me like a book, Dad.” Andy sighs. “I’m nervous for my date…”
“Why?”
“What if Brandon and Molly start kissing, and then Caroline expects me to kiss her?”
“You could tell B beforehand to maybe cool it with that stuff. Kids your age really shouldn’t be doing that as it is. Do you want me to talk with his parents?”
“No, that would be so embarrassing!”
“What movie are you even seeing?”
“The newest Pixar movie…”
“Alright, I bet it’ll be fine. If it gets weird at all, just call me, and I’ll come get you.”
“Thanks.” Andy says with relief. “I’ll probably sleepover at B’s after the movie, is that okay?”
“Sure.” Harry shrugs. “Just text me and let me know for sure. I’m gonna go to Y/N’s after I drop you off.”
“How come she didn’t just come here?”
“She just needed a little alone time. She gets tired when she’s been really social.”
“Have you talked with her about moving in at all?”
“I have, yeah…we talked about a lot of things a couple of weeks ago. She was thinking maybe July when her lease is up, how would you feel about that?”
“Yeah…why would she wanna wait that long?”
“She has a lot of work to do on her PhD. You may not remember when I was working on mine, but it’s a lot of hard work, and sometimes she needs her own space to get that work done. She’ll be done next May, though. We’re gonna paint together during our spring break, and we’re gonna go furniture shopping soon. Oh! She even wants to take you on a little day trip to Boston sometime soon.”
“Really? That would be so much fun! We haven’t been to Boston in forever.”
“I know! See, it’s all working out. She just needs some time and I wanna make sure I don’t put too pressure on her.”
“I’m really glad she came with us this week. She was so much fun when we went tubing.”
“Yeah, thought she was nearly gonna bounce outta that thing.” He laughs.
“Were you just reading in here?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Do you mind if I just lay in here for a bit? Forgot how comfy your bed is.” Andy yawns and pulls one of the quilts up over himself.
“Course.” Harry smiles and smooths some hair away from Andy’s face.
//
“Andy, thank you so much for paying for my ticket, that was so sweet of you.” Caroline tells him. “At least let me pay for the popcorn.”
“No worries, I got it.” He smiles. “Do you want to, um, share a slushie?”
“Sure.” She blushes. “I like getting the blue and red mixed.”
“Me too! It tastes like grape.”
“Yeah!”
They both giggle as they get into the snack line. Brandon and Molly were just getting their snacks. Brandon’s parents were off seeing a movie that was for adults. They all go in and grab their seats. The boys sit next to each other, and the girls sit on their other sides. Brandon almost immediately puts his arm around Molly and she giggles. Andy rolls his eyes and tries to get comfortable. Caroline reaches for his hand and he smiles as he takes it.
“You have a little tan from skiing.” Caroline points out. “It’s cute.”
“Oh, uh, thanks. The goggles will do that.” He leans forward to take a sip of the slushie. “I…missed you while I was gone. I’m sorry I didn’t get to call you much.”
“Oh! That’s okay. I know you were busy. I missed you too.” She smiles and leans in to give him a kiss on the cheek. “How were things with your…do you call her your step-sister?”
“Yeah, and her name’s Rachel.”
“Since when do you refer to her as your step-sister?” Brandon butts in.
“We had a heart to heart.” Andy shrugs. “She’s not a baby to me anymore, she’s pretty cool, actually.”
“Oh, well, that’s good, I guess.” Brandon says. “I’m glad you guys are doing better.”
“Me too.”
The theater gets darker as the previews come on, and they all pay attention to the screen. Andy felt at peace, he wasn’t sure why he was so worked up before. This was totally chill.
//
Harry shows up to your place with a bottle of wine and pizza. He lets himself in, and is very confused when he sees all the lights off.
“Y/N?!” He flips the lights on and sets everything down in the kitchen. “Baby?!” He goes down the hall and sees the light on in your office. “Babe?” You were passed out with your face in a book and a highlighter in your hand. Harry sighs and comes over to lift you up.
“Huh?!”
“It’s just me!”
“You nearly made me shit myself, Harry, Christ. You can just so easily pick me up?”
“You’re not that heavy.” He chuckles and sets you down. “I was just gonna tuck you in.”
“Well, I’m awake now. Sorry, I was working and I must have fallen asleep.”
“I brought pizza…and wine, but we don’t have to-mph!”
You tugged Harry close to you by his collar, and slotted your mouth over his.
“Pizza and wine sounds incredible.” You grin. “You always know exactly what I need.” You walk out of the office and he follows you. “Oh, and you got the white, you must really wanna get busy.”
“Why do you always think I have an ulterior motive?” He grabs two plates and two glasses.
“Because all men do. Sex is always on your minds?”
“And it’s not on yours?”
“Well, it wasn’t until I started dating you. Now I just always feel absolutely feral.” You smirk as you bite into a slice of pizza.
“Feral, huh?”
“Mhm, although, as a woman I can hide it much easier. I don’t have to worry about an appendage getting excited.” You take a sip of wine and so does Harry.
“No, but…” He comes over to stand behind you to speak into your ear. “You do have to worry about your panties getting wet.” His fingers trail down your body and up under your shirt. They skim the waistline of your sweatpants.
“That would involve me having to wear panties.”
“How do you feel about cold pizza?”
“Love it.”
“Fantastic.” Harry takes the pizza box and shoves it in the fridge, and then grabs you to throw you over his shoulder.
“Harry!” You squeal.
“You know me, I get a little excited.” He chuckles as he carries you into your room. “Babe…” He puts you down. Your room was a fucking mess.
“Okay, before you say anything, it looks like this because I’ve been going through my stuff.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t wanna do it last minute when we eventually move in together. Plus, I have a ton of clothes I don’t wear anymore that I can donate…I’m sorry, you must think I’m so messy.”
“I don’t.” He tucks some hair behind your ear. “I just hate that you’re basically staying here for your home office. You have no problem using mine at the house.”
“But what if we both need to work at the same time?”
“Plenty of room for your desk up there, baby.”
“I feel like we’re rushing and it kind of scares me a little.”
“There’s still no rush…move when you’re ready.”
“You say that, but I know you hate it when I’m here…and I sort of hate it too. I prefer sleeping next to you.” You bite your bottom lip.
“So do I.” He sighs. “What about…over spring break?”
“We’re supposed to paint, moving will take so much work. I don’t know what I wanna do with all my furniture yet…I was thinking of bringing some of it to the consignment shop.”
“What if we put your living room furniture up in the loft? It could look really nice up there, and the TV could go into the basement.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I want you there, and so does Andy. I know it’s stressful and scary, I’m a little scared too, but I want this. I just want you around.”
You pout up at him and wrap your arms around his neck. You hug him close to you.
“I’ll think about it, okay?”
“Sounds good to me.” He kisses you. “Now, I think we came in here for a reason.”
“We sure did.” You peck his lips and let him go. “Take your clothes off.” You go over to your side table and take out a candle and a lighter. “Feel like getting a little freaky?”
“Will it hurt?” He asks, already taking his shirt off.
“Harry, you have a fuck ton of tattoos and you’re scared of a little wax?”
“What kind of wax is it?”
“It’s, like, rose oil. It doesn’t hurt, it’ll just feel warm. You can use it for massages and stuff too.”
“Are you telling me you’re offering to rub my back?”
“Yes.”
“Alright, I’m in.” He smiles and strips down to his boxers. He gets on the bed and lays on his stomach. He puts his glasses on the night table.
You sit on top of his bum and let the candle burn while you get some lotion on your hands. You knead Harry’s shoulders and work your hands down his back.
“Feels so good, baby.”
“Are you ready for the wax?”
“Yeah, go for it.”
“Okay.” You feel giddy. You get off him and take your clothes off. “Flip onto your back, and get your underwear off. If I’m naked, you’re naked.”
“Yes, ma’am.” He smirks and does as you say.
You straddle him and grab the candle. His hands grip your hips, and he squeezes you in anticipation. Your pour the wax, carefully, onto your chest and let it drip down onto his. His mouth hangs open as he watches. It sort of mimicked his come dripping down your body, and that pleased him very much.
“Do it again.” He says.
“You liked it?”
“Yeah…it’s really sexy.”
You smile and pour a little more over your chest and watch it drip onto his. You stick your hand in the wax and let the droplets fall from your fingertips onto his torso. You watch as his stomach tightens.
“Not too hot?”
“No it just feels like warm water…I thought the point of these were for them to hurt a little.”
“That’s what some people use them for. I just like how warm it feels on my skin.”
“Yeah, it does feel kind of good. Do a little more.”
You pour just a little more onto him and set the candle down. You lean down and kiss him, and his hands slide up your back. You suck on his bottom lip and grind yourself against him, making him groan.
“Gotta get a condom.” He mumbles against your mouth.
“Yeah, we probably should.” You say into his ear as you kiss on his neck. “Or…you could pull out and come on back.”
He smiles and nods at you. You get off him and lay on your side, looking over your shoulder. He gets on his side behind you, and lines himself up with you so he can slide in.
“You wanted it like this, huh?” He asks as he grips your hip and rocks in and out of you.
“Yes, Harry.” You hook arm around his head so you can grip his hair.
His hand on your hip slides to your clit, and he rubs slow circles on you. You moan out from the feeling. He sponges his lips on your neck, biting and sucking on your tender skin. You both were grunting and panting. Feel Harry raw was like nothing else, and this angle was sending you.
“Fuck, oh my god.” You moan and your head rolls back against his shoulder. “Say it, Harry, please.”
“You’re such a good girl, Y/N.” He says right into your ear.
“Whose good girl am I?”
“Mine, you’re my good girl.”
“Fuck, yes, I’m yours, I’m all yours.” You start panting more as he rubs your clit faster. “Fuck, I’m gonna!” You arch into him as you release around him.
“Y/N, I need to pull out, I can’t hold it much longer, baby.”
“Okay.” You breathe.
He pulls out and you roll onto your stomach for him. You hear him grunt and groan and you gasp when you feel his warm come shoot onto your back. You look over your shoulder and smile at him.
“Better than the candle?”
“Way better.”
“Let me go get a rag, be right back.”
“I have a better idea.” You say as you get up. “Let’s go take a bath together.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” You peck his lips. “Let’s just enjoy each other tonight.”
//
The movie was great, and Brandon’s parents let Andy and Brandon wait with Molly and Caroline to be picked up from the theater before driving them home. Once they’re at Brandon’s, they get settled into their pj’s and with some video games.
“That was a good movie.” Andy says.
“Yeah, it was really funny. We’ll have to all do it again.”
“Definitely. Would you ever wanna go to the pottery painting place? Y/N said she would take Caroline and I there.”
“You know, not everything needs to be a double date, Andy.” Brandon rolls his eyes.
“I thought you liked double dates.”
“I do, but…I don’t know, I don’t always need to hang out with Molly. I like when just you and I hang out.”
“Me too, I feel like we haven’t done anything just the two of us in a while.”
Brandon pauses the game and looks at Andy.
“Yeah, it’s like…girls have taken over.”
“I don’t even wanna hear it.” Andy laughs. “When you first dated Molly she was all you talked about, and you wanted me to go out with Alexis!”
“I just wanted you to feel included, and I missed you.” He shrugs.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah.”
“How come you guys broke up in the first place? Couldn’t have been that bad if she wanted to go back out with you.”
“She…she thought I liked spending time with you better, and she wanted me to basically not be friends with you anymore, and I chose to be friends with you instead of being her boyfriend. When I asked her to the dance I didn’t think we’d be full on back together, but I guess we are.”
“And does she still have a problem with me?”
“We haven’t talked about it.”
“I can’t believe you chose me over her.”
“I always will, Andy. You’re my best friend.” Andy blushes at that. “Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah.”
“Why haven’t you and Caroline kissed yet? I know you said you didn’t want it to be public, but…”
“Y/N said it was okay not to rush into things.” He shrugs. “I just don’t feel ready for that.”
“You two act like you’re just friends…”
“Friends don’t hold hands and kiss on the cheek. I wanna kiss her, it just hasn’t felt right. Like…I feel like I wouldn’t even know what I was doing.”
“It’s not difficult.” Brandon laughs. “You just sort of smoosh your lips to hers, stay there for a few seconds and then pull away.”
“No way, I’ve seen enough movies to at least know you have to move your lips a little. What if she wants to open mouth kiss or something?”
“Like with tongue? It’s not that gross.”
“You tongue kiss with Molly?!”
“Sometimes.” Brandon shrugs. “It’s nice.”
“I feel like you know everything.” Andy rolls his eyes.
“Well, Andy, when you’re twelve you sort of just figure it all out.” He smirks.
“You’ve been twelve for a month, get over yourself.” Andy laughs.
“Seriously, though, kissing isn’t that scary.”
“I’ll take your word for it.”
“You know…if you ever wanna, like, know how to do it so it’s good for her, I could show you how.”
“Like…practice?”
“Sure.” Brandon shrugs. “Only if you wanted.”
“Wouldn’t it be like cheating on her, though?”
“Not really, it’s not like it would count.”
“So…you’d show me how to kiss?”
“Yeah, what else are friends for?”
Andy’s heart was racing. Deep down he sort of knew he shouldn’t be doing this behind Caroline’s back, but Brandon was offering something he really wanted on a silver platter and he wasn’t sure he wanted to pass it up.
“Okay, show me what to do.” Brandon scoots closer to him, and furrows his brows. “What?”
“Your hair is just kinda in the way, here.” Brandon reaches forward and pushes Andy’s hair back. “There.” He was blushing and so was Andy.
“Thanks.” He swallows.
“You’re sure about this?”
“Yeah, I wanna know how to do this right.”
“Okay…so…basically, you just sort of…” Brandon cups Andy’s cheeks and leans in closer. “You’re okay?”
“Yeah.”
Brandon nods.
“So, you close your eyes and pucker your lips, but not too tight.”
Andy closes his eyes.
“Like this?”
“Yeah.” Brandon smile, but Andy obviously doesn’t see it. “I’m gonna do it now.”
“Okay.”
Just as Brandon’s about to press his lips to Andy’s, there’s a knock on the door, they both scoot away immediately.
“Boys, it’s getting late.” Mrs. Stewart comes in. “Time for bed.” She smiles and closes the door.
Both boys start laughing.
“I think we should go to sleep like your mum said.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah…I mean…I guess Caroline and I will just figure it out together when it happens, but thanks anyways.” Andy rolls out his sleeping bag.
“You know you can sleep on the bed with me…”
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
“Because…one morning when I slept over I woke up, like, ugh, see I do this thing when I sleep where I hold onto something. Like, I have a body pillow at home, you’ve seen it. The same thing happens to my dad, I don’t know why. So one time when I was here I woke up holding onto you and I don’t wanna do it and make you uncomfortable.”
“It didn’t.”
“Wait, you…you knew that happened?”
“Yeah, I just didn’t say anything because I didn’t wanna make you uncomfortable.”
“It didn’t weird you out?”
“No…should it have?”
“I don’t know.”
“Girls do that and share beds all the time. Molly told me that her and Alexis do it all the time.”
“Oh.”
“Sleep on the floor if you want, but you can share my bed with me.”
“Well…I guess if you really don’t care if it happens…”
“Andy I was willing to kiss you, I don’t really care if you accidentally hold me in your sleep.”
“Okay, then, uh, I’ll sleep on the bed then, but I’m gonna use my sleeping bag still.”
“Whatever works.” He shrugs. The boys both get into bed, and lay there staring at the ceiling. “What we did, well, what we almost did…that should probably stay between us…”
“I agree.”
“Pinky promise?” Brandon raises his pinky.
“Pinky promise.” Andy locks his pinky with Brandon’s and they rest their hands together on the bed, neither of them letting go.
//
You and Harry enjoyed a nice, long bath together, and then went to bed. You felt unbelievably cozy in his arms. Yeah, you were definitely going to be moving in sooner rather than later. This is what you wanted every single night, and he felt the same way.
The next morning you wake up with Harry’s hard-on pressing into your ass. You know he’s awake when he starts grinding into you, and groping at your breast. You smile as he kisses on your shoulder.
“Someone’s awake.” You giggle and he hums his response.
“Very much so. Is this alright?”
“Very much so.” You say his words back at him.
“What do you say we-“ Harry’s cut off by the sound of his phone going off. He groans and grabs it. “What’s up, Andy?”
“Dad…you were supposed to pick me up, like, fifteen minutes ago.”
“Oh, shit!” Harry sits up immediately. “I’m so sorry, I’ll be there soon, just hang tight.”
“Where are you?”
“I had a sleepover of my own…I’ll be there soon, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Fuck, I’m late picking Andy up. I never set an alarm, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, baby, go get him.”
“Are you staying here today?”
“Yeah, but I’ll come over to sleep tonight. I wanna finish up the work I was doing last night.”
“Okay.” He smiles and kisses you quick before throwing some clothes on. “Text me later, I can have dinner made.”
“Sounds good.” You smile and watch him walk out.
Harry picks Andy up, and Andy gets into the car.
“I’m so sorry I was late, you know that never happens.”
“It’s okay, where’s Y/N?”
“She’s at her place, she’ll be over later though. She said she may move in during spring break instead of waiting until July.”
“Really? That’s great! Um…do you think if I called Mum…like would you care if I go to her place?”
“Not at all, I’m sure she’d love to have you home. Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, I just feel like being with her, I guess.”
When they get inside, Andy goes to his room to call Paige.
“Hi, honey, how was Brandon’s?”
“Good…are you busy today?”
“Not really, why?”
“Could you come get me? I wanna stay with you tonight.”
“Yeah! Is everything okay?”
“Everything’s fine, I just feel like I miss you, Mum.” Andy had spent an entire week with his mother, and he really didn’t want to wait another week to see her again. “Got used to being around you and now you’re not here, so-“
“I can be over in a few hours, does that work?”
“Yeah.” Andy sighs. “That’s fine.”
“And you’re sure everything’s fine?”
“Yeah, I just wanna come hang out with you…”
“Okay, baby.”
Andy hangs up and gets up to close his door. There was one more call he needed to make before going out to the living room with his father.
“Andy?”
“Hi, Y/N.”
“Is everything alright?”
“Why does everyone keep asking me that?”
“Well…it’s a bit odd for you to call me…oh my god, is your dad okay?!”
“He’s fine, chill! I just needed to talk to you about something and I’m going to Mum’s later.”
“Oh, you are? I’m coming over for dinner…”
“I know, I just feel like being with her.”
“Alright, well, I’m glad you’ll see her then…so, what’s up?”
“Something happened last night.”
“At the movies?”
“No, after, at Brandon’s…”
“What happened?”
“We almost kissed.” Andy groans.
“What?!”
“Yeah! We were talking about kissing, and I told him I was nervous about kissing Caroline because I don’t know what I’m doing, and he…he offered to show me how.”
That sly son of a bitch. You think to yourself.
“Andy…you’re dating Caroline.”
“I know! We didn’t kiss, his mom knocked on the door and told us to go to bed. And when we went to bed we fell asleep holding hands.”
“How do you think Caroline would feel if she knew about that?”
“She’d probably feel bad.”
“Right.”
“I really like her, Y/N…but maybe I just like her as a friend, and Brandon as more than a friend. I like having Caroline around, we have a lot in common, and we have fun together.”
“Maybe now just isn’t a good time for you to be dating anyone. It’s not fair to anyone involved, you know?”
“I guess so…but I don’t wanna hurt her feelings.”
“You’ll hurt her more if you do something behind her back with Brandon.” You sigh. “Think things over at Mum’s…maybe you could even talk to her about it. She may have better advice than me, your dad could too.”
“No, they won’t understand.”
“They could if you tried talking to them.”
“But I like just talking to you about this stuff.”
“And I feel so honored that you feel comfortable with me, Andy, I really do…I just think this is starting to get heavy, and you have so many people that love you and care about you that just want to help. I’m one of those people, but so are your parents.”
“It’s just awkward to talk about…”
“I know, sweetheart. None of this is easy. Could you just try? For me?”
“Yeah…I’ll try…thanks Y/N.”
“You’re welcome.”
Andy hangs up the phone and takes a deep breath. Harry was up in his loft, and Andy goes up to join him.
“Dad?”
“Yeah?”
“Mum said she could be here in a few hours.”
“Okay.”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.” Harry turns around and gives Andy his full attention while Andy sits down on the loveseat, pressing a pillow to his chest.
“How do you breakup with someone?”
“Oh no, you don’t like Caroline anymore?”
“It’s not that I don’t…I just think I…Dad, Brandon and I almost kissed last night, and I don’t wanna do anything behind her back because I like her and I don’t wanna hurt her feelings.”
Harry gets up and sits down next to Andy. He puts his arm around his and rubs his shoulder. He wasn’t entirely sure what to say.
“Have you and Brandon talked at all about how you both might feel about each other?”
“Not really.”
“I know it can be awkward, but it seems like he may like you the way you like him.”
“The times Caroline and I have almost kissed I’ve felt really scared, but I didn’t feel scared with him.”
“I think you’re right to end things with her, I’d hate for your first kiss to be a dishonest one.”
“So…you don’t care that it was almost with Brandon?”
“Of course not! We’ve talked about this, Andy. No matter who you are or who you wanna be with, I’ll still love you. I just want you to be happy.”
“What does it mean when you like boys and girls?”
“Um, well, the term is called bi-sexual.”
“Is it normal? I feel like such a freak.”
“It’s very normal! A lot of people like boys and girls. You’re not a freak, Andy. You also don’t have to have it all figured out right now.”
“Everyone keeps saying that, but it doesn’t make me feel better.” He sighs and leans into Harry more.
“I know…but I promise, at some point, it will get better.” Harry smooths some hair away from Andy’s face.
“It will?”
“Yeah.” Harry smiles. “You know when I was younger, I used to be afraid to paint my nails, or wear things that were seen as girly, and then when I got to uni I just stopped caring. I grew my hair out really long, and just did what made me comfortable, and it helped me really realize who I was. Now I don’t care what people think when they look at me. I do what makes me happy and comfortable, and I want the same for you. I don’t know if you kids have easier or worse nowadays. Things are more accepted, but you also have all that social media and cyber-bullying.”
“There are plenty of other kids in the school that know who they are already. There’s even a trans kid in my class. No one cares, she’s really nice. I guess I just wish I could have it figured out like them.”
“These things take time. I know it’s not exactly the answer you wanna hear, but…”
“No, I get it.” Andy sighs. “I’m sorry I haven’t really been talking to you about all of this, it’s just so awkward to tell my dad I like boys…”
“I suppose.” Harry chuckles. “But just know I’m never gonna judge you, and neither will your mother. She’s just as understanding and accepting as I am. If she wasn’t we never would’ve gotten together.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, she needed help with her nails one night and I helped her. Next day she kissed me.”
“Wow…Mum made the first move?”
“Technically, yeah, but I used to flirt with her all the time. She knew I liked her, but she had just broken up with someone else so she was taking some time before jumping into something else. I know it seems like Mum sort of stands in the shadows, but she’s one of the strongest people I’ve ever met.”
“And what about Y/N?”
“She’s very brave and strong too. It take a lot of courage to move somewhere new and start over just to get another degree. I tell her all the time how proud I am of her.”
“Is she your person?”
“Have you been watching Grey’s with Mum again?” Harry groans.
“No! Okay, sometimes we watch it together when I’m home, but I wasn’t thinking of that when I asked the question.”
“Yeah, Y/N’s my person.” Harry nods. “I think we complement each other nicely, and she’s great with you. That’s the most important thing to me.”
“I like her a lot. Sometimes I wish I could have the relationship I have with her that I have with Noah…”
“You can, you just have to work at it. Meet him halfway a little more.”
“And you’re okay with that?”
“Andy, I’m always gonna be your father, your dad, Noah’s not going to replace me in any way, but I think it would be good to let him in a little more. He’s not going anywhere, you know?”
“Right. Maybe I could ask him to watch a movie with me this weekend.”
“I bet he’d really like that.”
//
Paige picks Andy up, and he’s quiet in the car at first. He was drained from all the talking, but he knew he needed to fill her in on things.
“Mum?”
“Yes, honey?”
“I don’t really wanna talk about it anymore, but I like boys and girls, and I think I like Brandon more than Caroline, so I need to break up with her, and I’m scared, but I know it’s the right things to do, so I’ll do it.”
“Oh…oh my, um, okay.”
“Do you…do you still love me?” Andy’s voice cracks just as Paige pulls into her driveway. She turns around to look at him.
“Of course I still love you! You never have to worry about that.”
Andy nods and gets out of the car. Paige hugs him immediately before going inside. Once Andy’s put his things away in his room he comes down to the kitchen and smells something delicious.
“What’s for dinner?” He asks.
“Well, since we knew you were coming we decided to get some of those spinach raviolis you like, and Rachel requested garlic bread.” Noah says.
“You did that for me?”
“Course, buddy.” Noah smiles.
“Thanks, Noah, that was really nice of you.” Andy sits down at the table next to Rachel. “Hey.”
“Hi.” She raises an eyebrow at him. “I thought you wanted to stay with your dad this weekend.”
“I did, but…I sort of missed Mum, so…”
“Must be nice to do that when you can.” She mumbles.
“I was gonna ask your dad if he wanted to watch a movie together tonight, would you wanna join?”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, sure, but why?”
“I’m trying to make more of effort. I’ve been acting like a baby.”
“I believe I said spoiled brat, but baby works too.” She smiles. “I think a movie is a great idea.”
“Hi, precious.” Lydia comes to the table and gives Andy a kiss on the top of his head.
“Hi, Gram.”
“Alright.” Paige says as she puts everything on the table. “Everybody dig in.”
“This looks really good.” Andy says. “Thank you.”
“More than welcome.” Noah says.
“Would everyone be up for watching a movie tonight?” Andy asks.
“Sure, honey, what do you feel like watching?” Paige says.
“It doesn’t matter.” He shrugs.
“How about Ratatouille?” Rachel says.
“Oh, I like that one.” Andy says.
“Ratatouille it is then.” Noah smiles.
“Andy, after dinner, there’s something I wanna talk to you about. Noah can set up the movie.”
“Okay.”
“What is Ratatouille about?” Lydia asks.
“It’s about this rat named Remy who’s really good at cooking, and then he hides under the hat of this guy who isn’t good at cooking, and he helps him cook in this fancy restaurant.” Rachel explains.
“Perhaps I’ll read something instead.” Lydia chuckles.
After dinner Paige goes into Andy’s room with him, and sits on his bed.
“So, what’s up?” He asks her.
“Well, the wedding’s going to be in July, as you know.” Andy nods. “And I’ve been fleshing out some of the details. There’s something I’d like you to do.”
“What, Mum?”
“If you felt comfortable with it, I’d like you to walk me down the aisle and give me away.”
“I…I thought you wanted me to walk Gram down the aisle.”
“I did at first, but Uncle Ned is gonna do it.”
“You really want me to do it?”
“I can’t think of anyone else I would want to give me away at my wedding, baby.” She smiles at him.
Andy’s eyes well up. This was the breakthrough he had been needing. He knows his mother loves him, but for a while he felt like she was moving on without him.
“Okay, Mummy.” He says and they throw their arms around each other. “I’d be happy to.” He snuggles into her and she holds him close, rocking him gently.
“You have no idea how happy that makes me.” She kisses his cheek. “I love you so much, Andy.”
“I love you too.” He looks up at her. “I’m really sorry Gramp won’t be there to do it, but he’ll sort of be with us, right?”
“Right, baby.” She blinks a few tears away. “Well, I think Noah said something about ice cream sandwiches, so we better get down there.”
Everyone gets comfortable on the couch to watch the movie.
Paige: I asked Andy to walk me down the aisle, and he said yes! Thanks for sharing him this weekend
Harry was knuckle deep fingering you when Paige texted him, so it took him a bit to respond.
“Oh! Andy’s gonna walk Paige down the aisle at her wedding.” Harry shows you his phone as you both get settled into bed.
“That’s great! I’m glad he went over there.”
“Me too. Let me just text her back.”
Harry: Amazing! And no worries, he really wanted to hang out with you
Paige: I can bring him back to you tomorrow so you don’t have to
Harry: you sure?
Paige: yeah, it’s no trouble :)
Harry: alright, thanks
“Okay, putting this on do not disturb.” Harry sighs.
“Are we, um, going to the wedding?”
“Slow down, we?” Your face drops and he starts laughing. You smack his shoulder and he laughs harder. “Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. We’ve been invited, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. It’s going to be a little tough for me. Maybe we’ll just go to the reception, skip the ceremony.”
“Whatever you wanna do is fine with me.” You give his hand a squeeze. “It would be cute to see Andy walk her down the aisle.”
“You know I was nervous Paige was gonna ask me to do it when she was still a little vulnerable after Nathan died. I’m really glad she didn’t.”
“I feel like that would be crossing a line.”
“Just a wee bit.” He takes your hand to kiss it. “I think she forgets where the line is sometimes, but it’s hard to correct her.”
“If she had asked you to do it, would you?”
“No.” He shakes his head. “I would have told her to ask Andy. I’m glad she thought of it on her own.” You both slide down in the bed and you rest your head on his chest while he cards his fingers through your hair. “So, you wanna get married at some point.”
“Correct.” You giggle.
“What kind of wedding do you think you’d want?”
“Something small, honestly. Just close friends and family.”
“I like the sound of that. No sense in blowing an arm and a leg on it.”
“Exactly! I’d love for it be in the fall so it’s not too hot, like, at a nice gazeebo in a park. Oh! And I could really see myself in, like, a white pair of slacks and a blouse.”
“You wouldn’t wanna wear a dress?”
“Not really.” You shrug. “I mean, I could change my mind, but I like the idea of doing something a little different. I’d do the veil and all that.”
“You’d look lovely no matter what you’d wear, baby.”
“Thanks.” You kiss his chest. “What would you want?”
“Pretty much everything you described, something simple with close friends and family. I love the idea of having it in a park. We probably wouldn’t be able to do it in the fall because of school, but maybe in the late spring when the weather feels the same? We could have a nice reception at a local hall so people could dance, or we could rent a tent or something? Lots of really good food, buffet style so people can just take what they want.”
“And we could get assorted cupcakes, I like when weddings have those.”
“Me too, it’s just enough dessert.” He looks down at you and tilts your chin up, pressing his lips to yours. “When do you want to get married, Y/N?”
“Oh, god, I don’t know, baby. Probably after I get my doctorate. As simple as things would be, it would still be a lot to plan along with my work, you know?”
“Mm, definitely. Although, you wouldn’t be planning it on your own. It would be our wedding, so we’d both plan it.”
“You’d really wanna help with all that?”
“Sure! Seems like it could be fun.” He smiles. “And then…I mean, when do you think you’d wanna start having kids? I know I’m still young, but I wanna be too old that I can’t even play with them. That was the most fun part about being young with Andy. I had all the energy in the world when we’d go to the playground and stuff.”
“I’d say by the time I’m thirty would be good, but I mean, if it happens sooner I wouldn’t be mad.”
“Even if we weren’t married yet?”
“Yeah, I mean, ideally I’d at least like to be engaged, but if I got pregnant before we got married it would be fine. Is it weird that I’m not really worried about it?”
“So if you missed your period you wouldn’t freak out?”
“I mean right now I would, I’m way too busy for a baby, but once I’m done with my work I could definitely handle it.”
“I love hearing you talk about wanting to have a baby with me.” He kisses your forehead.
“It’ll be so nice to feel you come inside me.” You bite your bottom lip as you look up at him.
“I’m sorry, did I not make you come enough times earlier? Are you still in the mood?” He smirks.
“Mmm, maybe?” You slide your leg over his and lightly grind against it. “I wouldn’t mind if we went another round…we need all the practice we can get if we’re gonna make a baby at some point.”
“I like the way you think, darling.”
//
During the beginning of March, you and Harry work to get the living room ready for painting. Andy was a big help, and it was fun to watch how serious he took painting. You played music and had a pretty good time getting it all done. Many hands make light work.
Noah came over to help move some of the furniture. The couch and love seat needed to be moved to the basement to make room for the new furniture you had ordered. That was a fun day too, Andy had a ball flopping down onto the different couches. You found a set that had recliners. You also went a curtain and blind store to update some other things.
Then came yours and Harry’s spring break, it was time for you to officially move. It was bittersweet saying goodbye to your apartment. It had been an excellent place to live, but Harry’s house was home now. You set up the loft to have both of your desks and you both loved that no matter what you’d be office neighbors. Andy was a huge help with moving too. He honestly needed the distraction. Things with Caroline…weren’t great.
“Andy, it’s sweet you wanted to go for a walk after school, but it’s a little chilly.” She laughed.
“Sorry, I just wanted to talk privately. Wanna go sit on the swings?”
“Sure.” She shrugged and they walked over to the school playground. “So, what’s up?”
“Caroline, I’m really glad you’re here, and I’m happy we’ve gotten so close, but I don’t think I can be your boyfriend anymore…”
“Wh-what?” Her eyes welled up and her bottom lip quivered.
“Please, don’t cry.” He reached for her hand, and she let him hold it.
“I thought we were having fun…”
“We were! I…I’m really confused about things right now, and it wouldn’t be fair to keep dating when I’m not one-hundred percent sure.”
“What are you confused about? Do you like someone else?”
“I really like you, a lot, Caroline, but there is someone else I also really like, and I liked them before you came here, and I thought that feeling went away, but it didn’t. I’m really sorry.”
“Who is it?”
“I don’t wanna say…I haven’t talked to them yet.”
“Well, this isn’t what I thought we’d be talking about at all…”
“I…don’t wanna stop hanging out with you, though. I like when we do stuff together, you’re so much fun, and-“
“So you just wanna be friends?”
“If you’re okay with that.”
“Um…I think it’s gonna take me some time to wanna be friends, Andy. I feel…really blindsided.”
“I didn’t want to hurt you, I feel terrible.” She nodded at him and stood up, so did he. “Will you think about it? Being friends?”
“Yeah…I mean, I don’t wanna lose you. You were the first person that talked to me here and made me feel welcome.”
“I don’t wanna lose you either.”
She threw her arms around him and they hugged.
“I hope things work out with the other person.” She whispered.
“Me too.”
Things were awkward at school for a bit, especially since people wanted to know why, but Caroline was coming back around slowly to Andy. Anyways, he was just thankful for the creative distractions of painting and rearranging furniture. It made him happy to see his dad so happy too. He could tell Harry was trying to contain his excitement of you moving in.
Things with Brandon were…a tad strained too. It was a little awkward after the almost kissing thing, and even though Brandon was there for Andy after breaking things off with Caroline, he still seemed to be with Molly, and Andy was more confused and annoyed than ever.
The topic of Andy’s April vacation had come up, and Harry and Paige agreed to split the week so that both of them would only have to take a few days off from work. That’s when you and Harry decide it would be good to take Andy to Boston for a little trip. You could spend a few days at Julian’s hotel for next to nothing, and Andy could meet your parents. Harry could meet your friends too, maybe not in the bar atmosphere you were hoping for, but they could meet him nonetheless.
Things were going really well. You were able to get more work done than you thought at the house, and your classes were going incredibly well. Living with Harry was a breeze. He was such a chill and easy going person. You never had a relationship where you could communicate with someone so easily. You rarely fought, and it made for a really happy and healthy environment for everyone.
You were having a peaceful Saturday morning, working away up in the loft while Harry was downstairs reading on your new couch. He loved the recliners.
“Hey, Dad.” Andy plops down next to him.
“What’s up?” Harry closes his book to give his son his full attention.
“So, um, my birthday is a month away, as you know.” Harry hums his response. “My grades have been really good again this year, don’t you think?”
“They’ve been exceptional, I’m really proud of you.”
“Thanks…so…you know how you and Mum usually get me something?” Harry nods at him. “Well, there’s really only thing I want this year.”
“Oh? And what might that be?” Harry sits his chair up straight so he can turn to face Andy.
“A smart phone.” Andy mumbles.
“Hmm, are you turning thirteen this year?”
“No…I’m turning twelve.”
“Right, that’s what I thought. So, no smart phone, Andy.”
“Dad, please?”
“We had an agreement. Your mum feels the same way, I’m sorry, my hands are tied.”
“What’s the difference between now and one more year?”
“If a year doesn’t make a difference, then you can continue to wait.”
“Ugh, you’re being so unfair!”
“Don’t raise your voice at me, I’m being perfectly reasonable. There must be something else you want?”
“No, that’s literally all I want.” Andy huffs. “All of my friends have them, why can’t I?!”
“First of all, smart phones are very expensive, your phone now only costs thirty dollars a month. I’d have to add your line to mine, and that could be over one hundred extra a month. Second of all, I don’t care what your friends have, it’s not happening.”
“You get paid like ninety grand a year!” Andy stands up. “No way money is the issue. I’ll get a paper route or something to help pay for it.”
“That’s really not a lot of money to make when you own a home and have a child. You can wait another year. What do you even need one for right now? You have your own laptop, you have all the internet you could need.”
“I wanna be able to go on Instagram like my friends can!”
“Instagram?!” Now Harry’ standing up, and you can’t concentrate on your work anymore, so you stand up and lean against the banister to see what’s going on. “Who said you’d even be allowed to download all of those apps when you get a smart phone?!”
“Are you kidding me?! That’s the whole point!”
“You won’t be allowed to have any of that until you go to high school!”
“You’re living under a rock, Dad! Everyone my age uses this stuff! I wanna be able to see what my friends are posting, I’m always left out of the loop! I can’t even group text properly!”
“Who do you need to group text with?!”
“My fucking friends!”
Harry was fuming now. You had never seen him like this. You creep down the stairs to maybe see how you could help. You had never seen them fight like this before. Usually it was playful. This was very serious.
“Give me your phone, now.”
“What, why?”
“Because I said so.” Harry holds out his hand for it, and Andy reluctantly gives it to him. “You want a phone so badly for your birthday? You can have this back next month.”
“What?!”
“You heard me.” Harry puts the phone in his pocket and crosses his arms. “You can use the landline if you need make calls.”
“What if Mum needs to text me or-“
“I’ll tell her what’s going on, and she’ll either call me or she’ll call the landline if she needs to speak with you.”
“I can’t believe you’re getting upset over a simple question! I just asked for a phone!”
“We’ve been over this a million times! You’ll get one when you’re thirteen, and that’s final.”
“And you’re really going to take my other phone away until my birthday next month.”
“That’s right.”
Andy was fuming now. He looks at you, almost pleading to say something to his father, but you bite your inner cheek and look away.
“You’re being unfair!”
“I think I’m being plenty fair! This phone isn’t even yours, it’s mine! I pay for it, don’t I?”
“Harry.” You finally step in. “That’s enough.” He turns to look at you with raised eyebrows. “Andy, you shouldn’t talk to your father like that…I don’t like hearing you use cuss words. Also, the rules have been pretty clear, you need to wait another year for a smart phone. Try to think of something else you may like for your birthday, yeah?”
“But-“
“I think you should go cool off in your room for a bit.” You nod in that direction.
“You can’t tell me to go to my room, Y/N.” He scoffs.
“Actually, she can, so go.” Harry says.
“Everyone’s against me! Jesus Christ.” He grumbles and storms off to his room, slamming the door shut.
“I wish you had stayed upstairs, I was handling it.” Harry says to you.
“Were you? Because it seemed like you were throwing daggers at him. You can’t say that to a kid.”
“What?”
“That his property isn’t really his because you pay for it. That’s like saying his room isn’t really his because this is your house. My dad used to say shit like that when he’d get really mad at Phil and I. It doesn’t exactly make for a safe environment when you don’t think anything is yours.” You bite your bottom lip. “Did you really need to take his phone away?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because he was acting like a spoiled brat, and I can’t stand it when he does that. Maybe that’s on Paige and I for rarely saying no, but I’m saying no now and he needs to respect that.”
“And you’re really not going to give it back to him until his birthday?”
“That’s right. It won’t kill him to be a little unplugged. If I need to get in touch with him at school I’ll just call the office, and he knows he can do the same. The secretary has a community phone for the kids to use.”
“You didn’t flip out until he mentioned Instagram, why?”
“Because he’s too young for all that. If he gets one then I’ll need to get one.”
“Why?”
“Because I’ll need to monitor what he’s posting.”
“Oh my god.” You shake your head. “You know what that leads to? Him just making a finsta that’s private and all his friends will follow him on there, and he’ll post whatever he wants and have the real fun, and then he’ll post what he thinks won’t get him in trouble on whatever account you follow him on. Come on, Harry, only helicopter parents do shit like that.”
“What in the fuck is a finsta…?”
“It’s a fake Instagram. Look, instead of doing that, we could just talk to him about the importance of privacy settings, and what’s appropriate to post. Instagram can be a lot of fun for kids, you can post aesthetically pleasing photos, although it’s not as fun as it used to be. I remember when I got mine, like, god almost ten years ago, people just used to post cool pictures of food, now it’s a place for influencers and models, which is really annoying, but-“
“Y/N, please, you’re giving me a headache.” Harry sighs. “I’m his dad, so what I say goes.”
“Right, and I’m just the woman who lives here that fucks you, is that it?”
“Don’t twist this into an argument between the two of us, it’s not necessary.”
“You picked a fight with him for no fucking reason, Harry.”
“He started getting-“
“I don’t care! You’re the parent, like you said, act like the adult you are. You could have handled that ten times better, but instead you chose to be petty, and for what? I know it’s scary that he’s growing up, and maybe right now you can protect him by not getting him the phone, but you can’t protect him from every little thing. What you should do is teach him how to properly use all of that stuff so he doesn’t get hurt. Don’t talk to strangers applies in the real world as it does virtually, stuff like that.”
“Wow, been living here a month and you’re an expert on parenting, that’s incredible. You should really write a book on it.”
You narrow your eyes at him. Harry had never, not once, spoke to you like that. Something had really crawled up his ass today, and you clearly hit a trigger for him. This had to be about Andy growing up, and Harry being sad about it. You look him up and down and smirk before going back upstairs to your work. If he didn’t want you to be involved, then you wouldn’t be involved.
After a couple of hours, Harry knocks on Andy’s door.
“Come in…” He mutters as Harry enters.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
“Can we chat?”
“Are you gonna yell at me again?”
“Are you gonna yell at me?”
“No.” He mumbles, and Harry nods. He sits down with Andy on his bed.
“I know I was harsh earlier, and I know it seems unfair that I’m being so firm about this, but I’d appreciate a little trust here. You do not need a smart phone yet, trust me. All of those apps and stuff just rot your brain. Right now you read before you go to bed, and you’re able to relax. Smart phones are really tempting and can keep you up for hours if you’re not careful. I just think you could handle it better a little later on.”
“My friends are able to take pictures and post them, and then someone always has to show them to me. It’s embarrassing.”
“I’m sure you’re not the only one in your grade that doesn’t have one.”
“You’re probably right, but it’s still annoying.”
“I know.” Harry sighs. “Here.” Harry gives Andy back his little phone. It was the kind that slides open to have a keyboard to text. “You have no reason to really be punished, you didn’t do anything that would warrant not having your phone.”
“Thanks.” Andy sets it down on his bed.
“Social media can be really scary, and I know you think it’s fun, but it can turn to not so fun fast, and my biggest fear is that something could happen to you because of it.”
“Dad, I’m not gonna talk to anyone I don’t know…”
“Well, I should hope not.”
“Is Y/N mad at me? I shouldn’t have said that to her…”
“No, she’s mad at me actually for how I handled things. I’m sorry I said that too about the phone being mine. It’s not, it’s yours…and I don’t mind footing the bill.”
“It’s okay…is she still working, can I go see her?”
“I’m sure she wouldn’t mind the visit from you.” Harry smiles. “Can we agree that you’ll get the phone next May? Please, I don’t want to keep having this same fight.”
“Okay.” Andy nods. “But there’s something else I want then.”
“Name it.”
“Ariana Grande is touring again soon, and I’d like to go to her concert.”
“Do you wanna bring a friend?”
“Yes.”
“Okay.” Harry sighs. “I’ll see what I can do, alright?”
“Really?!”
“Yeah.”
“Oh my god!” Andy squeals and lunges himself onto Harry for a hug. Harry chuckles and hugs his son back. “And don’t worry about having to chaperone, Y/N told me if Ari ever toured here again she’d take me.”
“Thank god, I really don’t think I could sit through it.”
Andy rolls his eyes to get up and go see you.
“Y/N?”
“Hey.” You smile at him.
“I’m sorry about earlier.”
“Oh, please.” You scoff. “It’s fine, I would have said the same thing. Did you and Dad figure things out?”
“Mhm.” Andy grins. “He’s gonna try to get tickets to see Ariana Grande for us!”
“That’s great! Better than a phone, huh?”
“Way better.” He comes over to you to hug you, and then he heads back downstairs. The Styles men, you were starting to notice, are a special breed.
You don’t’ say much to Harry for the rest of the day, although you could tell he trying to butter you up. He made lasagna for dinner, one of your favorites. You mostly spoke with Andy at the table. You wanted a formal apology for what he said to you, that was it. When you had still barely spoken to him by the time you both got into bed, he sighs heavily and looks at you. You raise an eyebrow at him.
“What do you want to hear, that you were right?”
“No, I want to hear you say you’re sorry for being a facetious little shit when I was just trying to help. I’m fully aware that I don’t have as much experience parenting as you do, but don’t discount me like that. I’ve been in that kid’s life long enough now, also I’ve read a few parenting books since we started dating so-“
“You have?”
“Of course I have! I went into this blind, I had to do some research, Harry.”
“I’m sorry I said what I said to you, I was frustrated that you…that you just read the situation to a T. I’m petrified of him growing up, it sucks. I hate it and there’s nothing I can do to stop it, and I have control of the phone thing, so I flipped out when he challenged me on it.”
“I didn’t like hearing you yell. You never get that mad.”
“I have my moments, you’re just more privy to them now.” He sighs. “It’s hard for to stay calm sometimes when he starts yelling at me. It’s only going to get worse, so I know it need work on keeping my cool.” You nod your head. “I gave him his phone back.”
“You did?” You features soften.
“Yeah, it was stupid of me to have taken it in the first place. He didn’t really do anything wrong.”
“I’ll always respect your decisions, I mean, you’ve been doing this alone, sort of. But I want you to remember I’m your partner in this, we’re a team, babe.”
“Yeah, we are.” He smiles. “I really am sorry for speaking to you like that.”
“It’s okay.” You shrug. “You backed me up while he was still in the room.”
“I’m glad you butted in, who knows what else I would have said if you hadn’t. I feel like for so long, like, because he wanted to be with me, and I got used to it, I didn’t really discipline him as much. I wanted to keep him happy so he’d want to stay. It was so hard for years only seeing him for small chunks of time. I’ve been trying to form better habits.”
“And you’re doing a great job, I think you’re doing as best as you can. I just want you to know it’s not all on your shoulders anymore.”
“Thanks, baby.” He kisses your cheek. “So…we’re good?”
“Yeah, we’re good.”
“Good, I couldn’t stand the silent treatment.”
“I just didn’t really know what to say to you, honestly. Upside is I got a fuck ton of work done.” You chuckle.
“Oh, well, thank god for that.” He laughs. “So, you’re not gonna deprive me of the booty tonight, then?”
“No, you can still have some booty.” You giggle and shift down in the bed, and turn over so he can wrap himself around you. The sound of his sigh makes me you smile. “I feel like even if I was so mad at you that I didn’t want you to hold me, you would in your sleep anyways.”
“My plan is to never make you that mad, so we don’t have to worry about that.”
“Oh good, I’m glad you have a plan.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.” He kisses your cheek again before really getting cozy with you.
“Goodnight, Harry.”
//
Since you were going for a few days, you decide to drive down to Boston. You were a little worried that it might be awkward sharing a room with both Harry and Andy, but neither of them seemed all that concerned. Julian said he’d hook you up with a good size room, so that put you at ease.
“What are we doing first, Y/N?” Andy asks excitedly from the back seat.
“Well, first we’re going to check in to the hotel to drop all of our things off, and then I was thinking we could go to the aquarium, would you like that?”
“Yeah! I haven’t been there in forever. Can we do the touch tank?”
“Of course.”
Harry puts his hand on your thigh as you drive. He was over the moon about doing something just the three of you. Even though you all lived together now, a trip would be a good bonding experience.
“Holy shit.” You say to yourself when you go inside the room. “He gave us a full suite! Look, there’s two bedrooms.”
“Sick!” Andy says as he runs in, and claims one of the rooms.
“Well, this is a pleasant surprise.” Harry says. “We’ll have to make sure to say thank you.”
“Definitely.” You text Julian immediately to tell him how amazing he is. “Okay, bathroom break and then we’ll head to the train?”
Andy didn’t get to go on the train very often, so hopping on and off was really exciting. He got to use the tube in London, but this was still fun for him. His eyes light up when you get the aquarium. He waits for you and Harry to get your tickets before going up to the touch tank that was on the outside of the building.
“They brought us here for a class trip when I was in the fourth grade, I think this and the penguins were my favorite part.” He tells you as he gently touches the various animals in the tanks. “It’s so cool.”
Once Andy’s had his fill, you all head inside. He nearly squeals when he sees the penguins, and Harry takes his phone out to take some pictures, chuckling to himself.
“What?” You smile at him.
“Nothing, he’s just gonna sleep so well tonight.” He kisses your cheek. “I’m really glad we’re doing this.”
“Me too. I thought this trip could be sort of educational for him, so I got us tickets for the museum of science tomorrow.”
“I thought your friends were meeting us tomorrow?”
“They are.” You grin. “It’s going to be fantastic.”
You and Harry hold hands as you walk through the aquarium with an enthralled Andy. You stop off for a quick snack in the small food court, and keep going.
“What are we doing for dinner tonight?” Andy asks.
“Bud, you just had a bag of chips and a candy bar…” Harry says. “Why didn’t you tell me you were hungry for more?”
“I’m not, it just got me thinking about food later.”
“Happens to the best of us.” You chuckle. “We’re going to have dinner at my brother’s place so you can meet my family, how does that sound?”
“Wow, really?” Andy asks with wide eyes.
“Mhm, and brother is a really good cook, so you’re gonna eat well tonight.”
“Are your parents gonna be there too?” He asks.
“Yup.” You smile and so does he.
After the aquarium, you all go back to the hotel to freshen up before hopping in the car to go to Phil and Julian’s. You were happy it was a Sunday evening so Phil didn’t have to physically be at the restaurant. Andy gets a little shy as you walk into the complex, sticking to Harry’s side.
“Hello?” You say as you key in.
“Hey!” Julian says as he greets you. “Come on in, hi, Harry.” He smiles. “And oh my goodness, you must be Andy! Hi, I’m Julian.”
“Hello.” Andy says, politely shaking Julian’s hand.
“Phil’s made so much food, you’d think it was Thanksgiving all over again. A little birdy told us you like pasta, Andy.”
Andy’s smile grows as you all come into the kitchen. Phil had made homemade raviolis and bolognaise, along with a meatless option for you and Harry.
“Hey, everyone.” Phil smiles as he strains the raviolis. “Mum and Dad should be here any minute, think they got stuck in traffic.” He looks at Andy. “Hi, I’m Phil, it’s nice to meet you.”
“Hello.” Andy shakes his hand as well. “So…you’re Y/N’s big brother.”
“That’s right.” He throws an arm around you. “She drove me nuts growing up, but now I don’t know what I would do without her.” He kisses your temple and lets you go. “You’re on April vacation, right?”
“Mhm.”
“Must be nice to just have an entire week off, enjoy it while you can.” Phil chuckles.
“Babe, do you want me to get the table set?” Julian asks.
“Please, that would be great. Garlic bread’s almost done and then we can put it in that nice basket you got.”
Julian nods and gets to work. A knock on the door signals that your parents have arrived, and you go to open it for them. It’s hugs and kisses all around, and then they say hello to Harry.
“Good to see you both again.” Harry says to them.
“Same to you.” Your dad says.
“Andy, c’mere, I want you to meet my parents.” You say to him and he stands in front of you. “Mum, Dad, this is Harry’s son, Andy.”
“Well are you’re you just the most precious thing!” Your mom says. “Y/N’s sent us some pictures of you, but they don’t do you justice. Look at those curls!”
“Oh, thanks…I use a special mousse for them.” Andy says shyly. It makes both of your parents laugh.
“Andy, we heard you enjoy painting.” Your dad says to him and Andy nods. “Well, we couldn’t help ourselves, especially since we also heard your birthday was coming up soon.” He takes a bag from behind his back and hands it to Andy. “Go ahead and open it if you like.”
Andy looks up at you and you nod. He opens the bag and gasps.
“Whoa! It’s that washable paint stuff! Thank you so much.”
“You’re welcome.” Your mom says. “We saw it and just had to get it.”
“Okay, dinner’s ready, let’s sit.” Phil says.
Everyone sits down at the table, and the conversation stays around Andy. He answers questions about school, friends, what his favorite subject is, what he does for fun (other than painting), and he talks about how much he likes living with Harry.
“Sometimes I miss my mum, but I like living with Dad more. It’s just calmer.” Andy shrugs. He was thoroughly enjoying the food as well.
“Can’t be much calmer with Y/N there now.” Your dad chuckles. “With the way she’s always running around like a chicken with their head cut off.”
“I do not do that…” You mumble.
“Sure you do honey, you always used to run around the house never able to find anything, and we’d tell you not to run because you always had socks on too, and one time you completely wiped out!”
“Wow, I didn’t realize we’d be telling embarrassing stories about me tonight.” You roll your eyes.
Andy thought it was interesting seeing you interact with your parents. You sort of did what Harry did, in that you acted like a kid again. He also liked observing Phil and Julian. Maybe things would get better.
//
The next day, after enjoying a nice breakfast at the hotel, you all head to the Museum of Science. Claudia, Nora, Darcy, and Mark would all be meeting you there. The three of you wait inside for them.
“Y/N!” Nora squeals and runs over to you. You open your arms and you hug each other. Everyone else comes following from behind.
“I swear she turns into a cheetah when she sees you.” Claudia says.
“Oh, shut up.” Nora says, letting go of you. She looks at Harry grins. “Well, well, well, look who have here.”
“It’s so nice to meet you all.” Harry says.
“Oo, boy, that accent.” Mark giggles to Darcy.
“This is my son, Andy. We’re both excited to spend the day with you.”
“Hello.” Andy says. He was feeling a little shy, but less so than last night.
“He’s so handsome!” Nora says to Harry. “Not surprised though.” She looks Harry up and down.
“Okay, enough flirting with my boyfriend.” You say. “Harry, Andy, this is Nora, Darcy, Claudia, and Mark, my best friends in the world.”
Everyone gets properly introduced, and you all head inside to the main area. Nora and Mark loop arms with Harry, and it makes you giggle as they walk with him, and talk his ears off. Claudia and Darcy do the same with Andy, and he loves it. Everyone helped make all of the science and exhibits extra fun for Andy. His favorite part was the lightning show.
You all were pooped by the time you got to the planetarium. Andy sits in the middle of you and Harry, and Nora sits on your other side. You two giggle and she makes you laugh so hard you cry while trying to be quiet during the show, which makes your other friends laugh too. Harry enjoys all of it.
“Okay, we were thinking Mexican for dinner, does that work for everyone?” Mark says.
“I love tacos.” Andy says. “Sounds good to me.”
“Yeah, we eat Mexican all the time.” Harry says.
“Great! You’ll love this place. They have the best margaritas.” Claudia says.
Andy was eating good this weekend. He wondered if you did this a lot when you used to live here. All of the adults order drinks, and Harry lets Andy get a virgin pina colada for his drink. Everyone got all different types of food. Luckily the restaurant had a kids menu with more traditional Tex-Mex that he was used to.
“So, Harry, talk to us about this cabin. Is it used in the summer?” Darcy asks.
“Yeah, it’s great for all seasons.” The friends all look at each other. “You all will have to come up some time this summer.”
“Oh, well, we wouldn’t want to impose.” Nora scoffs. “But I have to say, we’re incredible house guests.”
“Good to know.” Harry smiles. “So, what do you all do for work?”
“I’m a preschool teacher.” Claudia says.
“I’m an executive assistant to this CEO downtown.” Mark says. “At a marketing firm.”
“I’m an insurance agent.” Darcy says.
“And I also work in higher ed, but I work in Alumni Relations.” Nora says.
“Did you all go to school together?” Andy asks.
“Nora and I became friends in high school, and went to the same undergrad, that’s where we met Darcy and Mark, and then Claudia and I met in grad school, and she and Darcy, um, saw each other for bit…”
“But we realized friendship was the way to go.” Claudia says.
“That’s right.” Darcy says. “And we’ve all just been a little group ever since.”
“That’s kind of how my friend group is. My best friend is Brandon, and we have this other friend Tyler. And then Caroline became friends with us because she and I were boyfriend and girlfriend, but now we’re just friends.” Andy explains. “It was awkward at first, but everything’s normal again.”
“It can definitely be awkward.” Mark agrees. “You’re in sixth grade, right?”
“Mhm.”
“My god, the drama.” Claudia snickers to Darcy.
The group asks Harry questions about how he got into academia and how he ended up in New England. It was a great conversation all around. The food was excellent and everyone seemed to be meshing well. You and Nora had got up to go to the bathroom together, it was a chance to consult.
“Well?” You say to her as you both wash your hands.
“I can’t find a single flaw, Y/N.” She says. “I mean, on the outside, ten out of ten, that man is gorgeous, but he can also carry a conversation. He’s not one of those condescending know-it-alls, you can tell he’s really listening. God, and that Andy…so adorable.”
“Right? Sweetest kid ever.”
“You can tell how comfortable he is with you too by how comfortable he already is with us. He was shy at first, but he opened up. Living together has been going well so far?”
“Yeah, for the most part it was seamless. I’ve never felt this sure in a relationship before.”
“Clearly! I don’t think you’ve ever lasted this long in one.” She jokes and you roll your eyes. “I like them both a lot, well done.”
“Thanks.” You smile and walk back to the table with her.
“Well, this has been fun, but every night as to come to an end at some point.” Darcy says.
“Yeah, not all of us have a week off.” Mark says.
“Hey, I’m using vacation time same as you.” You say. “But I appreciate you all coming out today.”
“It was so nice to finally meet all of you.” Harry says.
“You both better come back down soon. We can show you a really good time nightlife wise.” Nora says.
Harry nods, and Andy says goodbye to everyone before you all go to your separate trains. Andy can barely keep his eyes open as he sits on the train between you and Harry. His head falls to Harry’s shoulder, and Harry pouts down at him.
“M’gonna have to carry him.” He says to you. “What a treat.” He puts his arm around Andy to keep him comfortable.
“I didn’t realize just how much walking we did today.” You chuckle and run your fingers through Andy’s hair.
“Think that big meal we just had did him in. It’s alright, he’s having a great time.”
“Are you going to be able to carry him?”
“Oh, sure. He’s not that heavy.”
“I know…he’s just getting lanky.”
“He’s due for a growth spurt, that’s for sure.”
Once you reach your stop, Harry’s able to pick Andy up bridal style and carry him out cuddled to his chest. It was one of the sweetest things you had ever seen. You weren’t always pricy to the more tender moments between them, and you were living for this one.
“I’m just gonna get him settled into his bed.” Harry whispers to you once you’re in the hotel room. You nod and go start your nightly routine.
Harry’s able to get Andy changed, and tucked into bed. Just as Harry kisses his forehead, Andy fidgets.
“Dad?” He mumbles.
“Shh, go back to sleep, buddy.” Harry coos.
“M’having a lot of fun with you and Mum.” He yawns and rolls over. “Goodnight.” He mumbles again before passing out.
Harry’s eyes widen and his mouth falls open. Did Andy mean to say that? Why were people always making confessions to him while they were half asleep? He slowly leaves the room and heads into yours. You were just sliding into bed.
“He all set?”
“Yeah, I’m just gonna go do my thing.” He points to the bathroom and you nod. You had gotten your period yesterday, and you were sort of thankful so that there would be minimal funny business. It wasn’t necessary on a family trip.
“Are you alright?” You ask as Harry gets into bed.
“Yeah…he just…he mumbled something in his sleep, that’s all.”
“What did he say?”
“He said he was having a lot of fun with us, um, just made me happy to hear.”
“Aw, he’s so sweet.” You peck Harry’s lips and settle down into bed. “Love you, baby.” You yawn.
“Love you too.” He says as he spoons you.
On your last day in the city, you and Harry decide it would be fun to bring Andy to the Quincy Market Place so he could do a little shopping. He nearly sprinted when he saw the Newbury Comics. You spent quite a bit of time in there, and Harry let Andy pick out a couple of things he wanted.
“Do you guys mind if I go into The Loft?”
“I thought you didn’t really shop for clothes.” Harry says to you.
“I don’t, but they’re having a sale, and I’d like to go check it out.”
“We can go with you, Y/N.” Andy says.
“So, I’m really annoying to shop with.” You laugh. “Go on to another store. I can meet you in, like, fifteen minutes?”
“Sure, let’s meet outside The Loft.” Harry says and you nod.
You really did hate to shop for clothes, especially with other people around. You were extremely picky and indecisive.
“Alright, where should we go? Need a bathroom break?” Harry asks Andy.
“No, I think we should go into one of these jewelry stores.”
“Why?”
“So you can look at rings, duh.” Andy scoffs.
“Oh, Andy…I…”
“Rip the band aid, Dad, come on, let’s just go look.” He tugs on Harry’s arms towards a jewelry store and they start looking around. “She only has, like, two rings she always wears, so this one definitely needs to be good.”
“Are you telling me you want me to propose to her already?”
“She’s living with us, why not?”
“It’s a big deal to marry someone.”
“But you both want to, right?”
“Well, yeah, we talk about it enough.”
“Okay, then. No harm in looking.” Andy shrugs. “She likes wearing silver…”
“I know.” Harry nudges him. “I have no idea what style she even would want…”
“She wears that necklace you got her every day, I don’t think she’ll care that much.”
“True, I got lucky with that one.”
Harry’s eyes scan over the various rings as the women behind the counter watch him. Nothing was really catching his eye until he saw a silver band with small diamonds studded in it, and large square diamond in the middle.
“Hey, what about this?” Harry asks Andy. “It’s…elegant, like her.” Andy tugs Harry’s shirt down so he can whisper in his ear.
“Take a sneaky picture of it so you can just order a similar one online.” Harry nods and does so swiftly before leaving the store. They both walk over to The Loft where you were standing already.
“No luck?” Harry asks when he doesn’t see any bags.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” You shake your head. “Trying clothes on while bloated was not a good idea, let’s just leave it at that.”
After a bit more walking, and a quick lunch, you all decide it’s time to hit the road. Just like last time, you drive through the city, and pull over at the rest area to let Harry drive the rest of the way. Andy was conked out in the back seat. You hold Harry’s hand as both of your arms rest on the console.
“This was a great few days.” Harry says.
“I know, I almost wish we just took the whole week off from work.” Harry chuckles at that and nods his head. “Is Paige coming to get him tomorrow?”
“Yeah, I’m gonna let him sleep in, and then she’ll come grab him while we’re at school.”
“Alright, sounds good. My family loved meeting him by the way, so did my friends. I got a ton of text messages saying so.”
“Ah, so you have all the official approval you could need then?”
“I’d say so.” You nod. “I think my parents are still a little uneasy about it, but they’ll get used to it.”
“It was really nice of them to get him that paint.”
“They’ve been dying to become grand-parents, so I’m not surprised that they jumped on the schmooze train.”
“Still, they didn’t have to do that.” He squeezes your hand. “It’s not easy to just treat someone as your own right away.”
“He doesn’t make it difficult, trust me.” You bring Harry’s hand up to your lip to press a kiss to his knuckles and he sighs.
//
With Andy at Paige’s for a few days that guaranteed no one just walking in, as soon as your period was over, it was like Harry went feral. It reminded you of that first weekend you actually slept over where he just wouldn’t let you leave the bedroom. He tried to be subtle about it, but he wasn’t very good at it.
“Feel like taking a break?” He says to you one night as you’re working.
“Do to what?” You say to him without looking.
“Me.” Your hands freeze over your keyboard, and you slowly turn to look at him. “You looked so pretty today, and I barely had time to tell you with all my advisees coming in and out.” He tils your chin up so you can look at him easier. “What do you say?”
You look at your computer quickly to save whatever you’re working and then you reach for the button on his jeans, but he backs away.
“Let’s get comfortable, darling.”
“You know, a break implies that this will be quick.”
“I meant break as in you’re done for the night, was I not clear?”
“Harry…”
“You’re going to burn out if you keep coming home and working until an ungodly hour.”
“I can’t help it.” You pout up at him.
“Come on, come down to the bedroom with me. We don’t have to worry about being quiet tonight…”
“Alright.” You sigh and get up to go downstairs with him.
Once you’re in the bedroom he cups your jaw and starts kissing you. It’s slow at first; soft. Your hands splay on his chest as he licks into your mouth. Before you can meet his tongue with yours he pulls away and nuzzles his nose to yours.
“Baby.” He whispers with a smile, and that all about melts you into a puddle.
He kisses from your cheek to your jaw to your neck, feather light, causing goosebumps to grow on your covered skin. You tug at the hem of his shirt, and he steps back so he can take it off. He reaches for yours and you lift your arms up. He cups your bare breasts (who wears a bra at home?), and kneads them as his lips find yours again. He gets you on the bed, and kisses down your chest. He tugs at your leggings and wriggles them down your legs along with your panties.
“Yours too.” You toe at his jeans and he smirks at you. He does as you say and gets rid of his jeans, leaving him in his boxers.
“Happy?”
“Yes.”
He goes back to kissing on your body, nipping where he feels like before sucking a bruise into your inner thigh. You grit your teeth and try not to buck your hips towards him. You gasp when you feel his tongue on you, sucking and swirling around your folds before he makes his way to your clit. He moans into you and your hands grasp at his hair. You bite your bottom lip as two fingers slide inside you, and you grind against them.
“Feels so good, don’t stop.” You say to him as he sucks on your clit and curls his fingers inside you. Your legs were starting to shake around him. “H-Harry.” You groan as your head rolls back. He keeps his pace steady, not changing a thing so you can get there. “Oh, fuck!” Your chest heaves as you release around his fingers.
He sucks his fingers into his mouth and looks at you with a smirk.
“What?” You breathe.
“Can I put the handcuffs on your for a change?”
Your eyes widen as you look at him. You really didn’t like being the one restrained, and it just looked better on Harry the times he’d let you cuff him.
“Um…maybe use one of the scarves, I don’t like the handcuffs on me.”
“But you’re okay with the scarf, yeah?”
“Yeah.”
He nods and goes into the drawer to get it.
“I’m not even gonna tie to you to bed, I’m just gonna put your wrists together.”
“Alright.”
“Sit up for me so I can tie them behind your back.”
“Oh?” Your eyebrows raise as you do as he says. He ties your wrists together and sits on the edge of the bed. “What do you want me to do, ride you?”
“Please.” He puts his arms out for you to help you. “Can I just come on your stomach?”
“Yeah, that’s fine.”
He helps get you lined up, and you sink down on him. You use your knees on either side of his thighs to help you move up and down. You could feel yourself trying to reach for him, but you couldn’t. He sits back with the palms of his hands flat behind him on the bed as you bounce up and down on him. He watches how the features on your face change as you basically use him.
“Harry, please put your hands on me.” You groan.
“Only because you asked so nicely.” He reaches for you but stops when you speak.
“Don’t be cute with me.” You smirk at him. “Or next time I’ll just have to tie you to each bed post again and ride you like this. Remember how much fun that was for you?” Your lean forward and ghost your lips over his, making him shudder.
“Okay, sorry, I’ll touch you.” He pouts slightly. His hands slide down to your ass and he helps you move on him.
You slot your mouth over his and lick into him. He moves you so you’re grinding back and forth on him and you moan into his mouth.
“Like that, baby?” He says to you as he sponges kisses to your collar bone.
“Yes, fuck, keep going.”
He looks up at you as you squeeze your eyes shut and bite your bottom lip. Your head rolls back, and you squeeze around him.
“That’s it, baby, be a good girl and come for me.”
Your mouth falls open, and you cry out as you reach your high. Those were the magic words, and they worked every single time. Harry pecks your lips before lifting you off of him and settling you on your back. He has you place your arms comfortably above your head, your wrists still tied together. He throws both of your legs over his shoulders, and thrusts back into you. He looks down to make sure you’re alright, and you nod at him to let him know he can keep going. Both of your moans and groans fill the room, along with the sound of his skin slapping against yours. Your clit was throbbing, and you need to give it some friction, but you knew Harry wanted your hands to stay put.
“H-Harry, please, could you, ah!” His tip your g-spot. “Fuck, please, rub my clit.” You groan.
He drops one of your legs so he can do so properly, and you moan out with relief. He thrusts were fast and deep, and it was going to send you over the edge any second with him rubbing you as well. Your eyes roll into back of your head when your orgasm reaches.
“Harry.” You whimper as you come down from your high.
He lets your other leg drop, and he comes down to you, chest to chest. He sucks on your bottom lip as he rocks in and out of you, and you wrap your legs around his waist. His hands come to yours, and he pushes down on your wrists as he continues to fuck you. You were breathing heavily underneath him, and you couldn’t help but look up at him and just watch. He looks down at you too, and it’s insanely intense, but neither of you can think to look anywhere else.
Harry keeps one hand on your wrists as the other snakes between the two of you. He rubs circles into your clit, and moves his hips in the same motion. Your mouth falls open and the whiniest moan comes out. He smirks at you.
“Harry, fuck, I’m gonna come again.” You groan.
“Yeah? Just feels that good, huh?”
“So good, baby, so good.” You start panting. “You treat me so well, Harry. I love you so much.”
“Fuck, I love you too.” He kisses you sloppily, teeth clanking and everything.
You moan into each other’s mouths as you come to your fourth release. You squeeze him a little too tightly, and he nearly loses control.
“Shit, shit, shit, shit.” He says as he pulls out, coming immediately onto your stomach. You were in such a daze you almost told him he could just come inside you, but that was the orgasm talking. “Fuck, baby.” He breathes and kisses your forehead. “Let me go get a rag.” Harry comes back with a warm washcloth to clean you up. “Feel like watching a movie, darling?”
“Sure.” You giggle as he cleans between your legs. “I can do that you know?”
“I know, I just feel like it’s the gentlemanly thing to do. I made a mess, I should clean it up.”
“Remind me to thank your mother some time for raising your right.”
Harry chuckles at that and tosses you one of his shirts before putting on a pair of boxers. He opens up his armoire and grabs the remote for the TV, and gets into bed while you go properly clean yourself up.
“What do you feel like watching?” He asks as you get back into bed.
“Something funny. Hmm, how about Step Brothers?” He scrunches his face at you. “Come on! It’s funny.”
“It’s mind numbingly stupid…”
“That’s the point.” You rolls your eyes at him. “I’m not watching another documentary, Harry, I’m just not.”
“But you learn so much from them, and they’re fascinating.”
“Maybe to you, I find them to be boring as all hell.”
“You can’t tell me the documentary we watched about prohibition was boring!”
“The only interesting part was when they got into the speak-easies.”
“You said you enjoyed the whole thing, you even laughed at certain parts.”
“Faked it.” You smirk and he gasps.
“You didn’t.”
“I did. Faked the whole thing.”
“Why would do that?”
“To keep you happy of course.” Your grin grows as he glares at you.
“Better be the only thing you’ve faked.” He says as he puts Netflix on to watch Step Brothers.
“Harry, you’re nuts if you think I would fake an orgasm with you. I’m not in the business of doing that anymore.”
“Anymore?” He raises an eyebrow at you.
“Did it a lot when I was younger, it’s the fastest way to get someone else to finish when you’re not super into it. I used to not be as vocal as I am now. Sometimes it takes a girl a while to feel comfortable enough to find her voice in the bedroom.”
“Fair enough.” He says as he puts his arm around you, pressing his lips to your hair line for a few kisses. “I love how vocal you are.”
“I know you do because you like hearing how good of a job you’re doing.” You look up at him and start laughing.
“What?”
“Do you get a stiffy when you read your good course evaluations?”
“No, I do not!” He starts laughing. “Why would you even ask me that?”
“Because it just seems like something that would happen to you. All of that praise must go right to that big head of yours.”
“Do you wanna watch this fucking movie or not?”
You burst out laughing as he holds you closer to him, pressing play on the movie. You kiss his cheek and settle down.
“And by the way”, he starts, “I enjoy American documentaries because there’s a lot I didn’t learn in school growing up, and it helps me know what some of the students are talking about. I get a few history majors now and then and I can happily say I can carry on a conversation with them.”
“Harry, it’s okay to be a nerd all on your own, you don’t to blame it on your students.” You give his chest a little pat, and gives your hip a pinch. “Aw, I’m just teasing, sweetheart.”
“Teasing is my thing, get your own.”
Her Majesty's Men 6 | Mason Mount
Word Count: 1,317
Warnings: an almost kiss and Declan hooking up with someone
- - -
Two Weeks Later…
Your doorbell rings unexpectedly, and you find yourself begrudgingly answering it. You gasp in surprise when you find Mason standing on the other side, looking at you shyly.
“Decs is asleep,” you say by way of a greeting, unable to keep the disdain out of your voice.
“I know,” Mason replies, giving you a small smile. “I was hoping you’d wanna go to the Eye with me today…?”
You give him a look. “Really?”
“Yeah.” He huffs out a laugh, running his hand through his unstyled hair, which makes you realize that this is the first time you’ve ever seen him without his hair unstyled in...forever. “So...come out with me?”
And that’s how you find yourself on the London Eye at sunset, sitting across from Mason. The two of you have made a day of being tourists in London, exploring all that the city has to offer. There’s a part of you that’s happy Mason didn’t make it as a footballer, loving the opportunity to get to walk through London completely anonymous. You’d been preparing yourself for fame-by proxy ever since Declan had announced his dream of becoming a famous footballer to your parents one rainy spring morning, and for a long time you’d thought it was going to happen.
“So, what’s next?” You asked, curious. “Dec is so secretive about the future and I’m not sure if it’s because he knows and doesn’t want me to worry or because he doesn’t know and knows I’ll worry.”
“Well, Stonesy’s got plans - big plans, apparently. He knows how popular we are, and he wants to expand us. He’s always talking about taking us on tour, but we need funding. There’s rumours he’s planning some sort of fundraiser but there’s no definite answer yet. Stonesy’s...not the best when it comes to figuring out the logistics. I was doing the books for a while but when I saw all the holes in the financials and told him about it, he wasn’t happy and got the bartender on his side and she’s now doing all that. I’m not sure what she’s telling him but he seems more optimistic about it than before.”
“So, assuming everything gets off the ground, are you going with them, then? Is Dec?” You felt a pang of something, wanting to reach out and hold Mason’s hand - or kiss him.
“Dec is more a part of this than I am. Me? I want out of this life eventually. Yeah, sure, I make almost as much money as I would’ve made if I’d been able to sign a contract with Chelsea - or a Championship club on the slower nights - but I’d like to, I don’t know, coach or something. I still wanna be involved in the world of football however I can be. Tarzan Ty has plans to open his own football academy with his money and I’d love to be a part of that. For right now, though, until I get a clear handle on my life, I’m just gonna be Money Mase.”
You didn’t overthink it this time, placing a hand on his forearm. “Oh, Mason, you’re so much more than Money Mase - I hope you know that.”
Mason gave you a soft smile, the action making your stomach dip. “Thanks.” His gaze flickered from your eyes to your lips and he leaned down.
You were about to let him kiss you but you placed a hand on his chest, stepping back. “Mason...we can’t.”
“We can.”
“You’re my baby brother’s best friend, Mase. We can’t.”
“But we want to.”
You swallowed hard, biting down on your bottom lip. “Yes, we want to, but that doesn’t mean that we should.”
“Fine.” Mason ran a finger down your cheek and you sucked in a breath. “But we are going to kiss someday and when we do, it’ll take your breath away. Okay?”
“Okay,” you breathed, nodding.
***
“All right, all right, all right. Tonight’s the night, lads!” Stonesy clapped his hands together, rubbing them like some sort of shirtless, ripped movie villain. “The investors are here and they are primed and ready for you. Show them what we can bring to the rest of England, and maybe the world!”
“God, he’s corrupt with power,” Tarzan Ty mumbled under his breath as he finished rubbing the contour into his abs to define them just a little bit more.
“He’s just got a vision,” Declan defended, buttoning up the trenchcoat.
“Yeah, a demented one.” Jacky Boy growled, rolling his eyes as he reached for the umbrella.
Mason stood silent, reading the room. Declan seemed to be the only one blinded by Stonesy’s smoke and mirrors, but Mason didn’t know how to tell him otherwise. Declan had thrown himself into the flashy world of male entertainment, trading the screams of a crowded stadium for the cheers of horny women, and Mason didn’t know how to get him out. Mason knew he wanted more out of life, but Declan seemed content to just live in this world. A part of Mason wanted to just let Declan be, but the other part - the part that was slowly falling for you even though the two of you hadn’t even kissed yet - wanted to save him. “Hey, Decs, can I talk to you?” He asked, placing a hand on his ex-teammate’s arm.
“Uh yeah, sure. Now?”
Just as Mason was about to respond, Stonesy cut in. “Let’s get out there, boys! Show these high-powered investors what we’ve got!”
~~~
“Was that...Victoria Beckham I saw in the crowd during our opener?” Jacky Boy asked, loosening the tie from around his neck. It was the only thing he still had on, besides his thong, his body slick with sweat after the ‘Raining Men’ routine they’d just finished. “Posh Spice - more like Sexy Spice, goddamn.”
“She’s one of the investors?” Tarzan Ty said, reaching for his hand drum for his classic Tarzan routine.
“Her and all of her lady friends,” Stonesy chimed in, smirking. “I pulled a few strings. You’re all welcome, lads. Just don’t screw it up.”
The only one brave enough to go near Victoria Beckham was Declan, the rest of Her Majesty’s Men watching in awe - mixed with a little bit of fear - as he sauntered over to her and took her hand, leading her onstage. Hot seats were a blur, Declan’s sole focus on Victoria as he gyrated his hips against her, fulfilling a fantasy for her.
When she cornered him at the end of the night, he was surprised. “You were...magnetic up there,” she murmured, a look in her eyes that had Declan pausing.
“I, uh, thank you. Does this mean that you’re donating?”
Victoria placed a hand on his chest, pressing him up against the wall. “Darling, I’m funding the whole thing,” she purred, nibbling his earlobe.
“Wow,” Declan breathed, chuckling nervously. “What does your husband think?”
“David will find out soon enough. For now, I’d like to have a little fun - celebrate my new investment, don’t you think?”
“Yes, you should celebrate.”
“With you.” Victoria dragged her index finger down his sternum, smirking. “I’ve invested in your little show, which makes you my investment...and I’d like to make sure you’re able to return dividends.”
“What about David? The man’s a legend, I can’t-”
“David and I love each other very much, but sometimes we need to have a little fun separately.” Victoria stepped back, giving him a sultry once-over. “So, Dangerous Deccers, what do you say we have a little fun?”
Declan didn’t hesitate after that, gripping her hips and pulling her into him. Victoria matched him, kiss for kiss, eventually taking charge. She was over twice his age, but that didn’t stop Declan from taking her to the back room, letting her lay him back on the futon as she proceeded to show him just how she planned on investing in him.

Hello guys so I thought it would be nice to translate an interview with Maneskin which is originally in Russian.
Thank you @teatrodellavita for sending me the link for the interview ❤️
So to warn you all before you read the translated interview, this is translation everything from Russian to English so all the maneskin answers were basically translated x2 (Italian -> Russian -> English) so there might be some Chinese whisper/telephone effect. Also I struggle with Russian idioms/metaphors so I’ll note them if they are during the interview.
I’ll leave the link here so you can follow the time stamps all of the questions. Also I tried my best making a nice structure which was hard because this whole post was written on tumblr mobile app
https://youtu.be/16NIbGDcycI
youtube
(I’ll be writing in personal notes to explain some parts in italic and bold)
So the video starts with the host making a parody of 80s Italy video promoting a vinyl. I am not sure, correct me if I am wrong, but I think that’s a reference to their New Years special episode. I skipped parts of the host talking because I don’t see it relevant to the Maneskin interview. Also I’d like to note that if you want to compare the host he is similar in hosting style like Jimmy Kimmel, he trying to ask questions with a bit of humour
[2:02] Host: Our guest, the winners of Eurovision: Maneskin!!!
[2:08] Maneskin performing I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE
[4:59] Host: Maneskin!!! *clapping*
Damiano: Thank you
Host: Thank you! Grazie! (Says other random Italian phrases, which I don’t know how to spell)
[5:21] Host: I was informed that on Yandex Music in our country (YandexMusic is a streaming service) you became more popular than Billie Eilish. You are the most popular band/group in the country based on streaming your music.
Host: Tell me how do you feel about Billie Eilish? Are you happy that you surpassed quiet singing woman from America (he didn’t mean it in harsh way more like a joke way)
Victoria: Poor Billie
Damiano: We really like her. There isn’t any competition with her, it’s not that important. But we are happy that our audience is here.
*audience clapping*
[5:55] Host: (said something that I couldn’t hear because of the clapping)
Host: You know, thanks to you we noticed how much in TV and Russia we see rarer and rarer people come/visit in leather and lace
*audience laugh in the background*
Host: And honestly speaking, looking at you we realize how much we miss it, we lack it, you have very very beautiful costumes/outfits
Damiano: thank you very much
Host: it just lacking blue and then a bit we’ll have a russian flag
*audience laugh*
[6:31] Host: what are your thoughts/feelings of Russia? What are your thoughts/feelings of meeting your fans? Where did you go? You are already a couple of days here, what did you like?
Damiano: Very pretty. It is very rare when we could go for walk, we saw the Red Square. The public is very warm so we appreciate/it’s very nice.
Victoria/Damiano (Not sure if this translated part was from Victoria or Damiano): We received a lot of Vodka as gifts
Ethan: and chocolate
Host: In this country you are the first people to receive vodka as a gift. (I think it’s sarcasm because I know a lot of people who received vodka as a visitor/ gifted vodka for visitors)
*audience laughs*
Host: but it’s ok, maybe it’ll become a tradition.
[7:04] Host: Tell me, a bit, for all of us who know you after the Eurovision. How was the band created? Who first joined the band. Am I right that Thomas, Victoria, you *pointing Thomas and Victoria* you first then Damiano joined? Tell us
Thomas: We went to the same school, and during that time we met each other. Then Damiano joined our band and then we made the band. A lot of different people came to us - we were looking for a soloist and drummer
Victoria: and during that time Damiano joined us.
Victoria:We choose Damiano because he was the only who could actually sing
Thomas: and then later Ethan joined the band. We found him *pointing at Ethan* on Facebook
Host: So you wrote something that you are looking for a drummer right? How did it happen? What did you write, what to write so I can join you as the 5th member with accordion
*audience laughing*
Ethan: Accordion is a bit difficult instrument *audience laughing* to use in rock music, but you can send us your resume, we will look at it.
[8:35] Host: We have a question from our band called ‘фрукты (Fruits)’ which is performing already 10 years. So the question is: you, just like the band Fruits, started from street performing, right? Like outside nearly at the streets of Via de Corso in Rome?
Damiano: Yes
Host: When you performed outside did you already wear the same costumes/outfits? How much as an estimate did you earn a day? It’s very interesting, a lot of bands will travel to that street, to repeat your journey.
Victoria: We dressed worse
Damiano: We dressed the style of hippie, but we earned a bit of money. One time, one boy came up and dropped for us 20 euros. It didn’t matter on the day, and one time a guy/young man came up and dropped 50 euros in to our box.
*Host pointing at himself proudly, audience laughing*
Victoria: So it was you!
Host: Oofcourse
Victoria: We thought we saw your face somewhere before.
*audience laughing*
Host: Of course guys, I left the boutique and thought hmmm what do I do with useless money, ofcourse.
[9:50] Host: Also about the band Fruits I just can’t not say it, Damiano, when you turn to your profile, *asking camera men to move the camera close up to the soloist of the band Fruits* *we see her side profile* I think during your childhood you both were separated, you look so alike. Damiano, maybe you have relatives in this country.
Damiano: *Damiano laughs*
Damiano: Maybe
*continues laughing*
Host: maybe, maybe
Damiano: It is possible, my dad was in Russia. *Damiano starts to laugh more, audience and laughing and clapping, camera goes on the soloist of the band Fruits smiling looking shy/embarrassed*
Host: She has the exact same story, her mother was visiting Italy
[10:23] Host: I can’t stop talking about your costumes/outfits (positively). And that you returned us faith/hope in Italian music in our country, which we really really love here, but also faith/hope in rock music. You are a group which uses more than one guitar and doesn’t used a drum machine and suddenly became very popular that we grateful for you because the word rock appeared and returned thanks to you.
Host:It is clear that you love rock music which is now considered the past rock and know the history of rock music. If you were offered to be able to go to a concert from the past, from any band, where would you want to go? Each one of you
Damiano: maybe the performance of Queen, would’ve been fun to see
Host: Victoria, which band and which performance?
Victoria: hmmm...possibly David Bowie, his tour.
Host: Ethan?
Ethan: If it was possible to return in the past, I would’ve traveled to the Woodstock
Victoria: he has has there contacts/ connections
*Damiano imitates smoking and laughs*
Host: oh I can’t repeat that after you
Host: and Thomas?
Thomas: I would go to the 70s for Jimi Hendrix
[12:00] Host: Where do you buy your clothes? Like from the basics, so I arrive to Rome and I have more than 50 euros, thank god, and I want to buy clothes. Where do I buy the clothes?
Maneskin (I wasn’t sure who’s comment the translator translated): just in the stores
*audience laughing*
Damiano: There is nothing funny *Damiano smiling* It’s true *He starts laughing*
Host: I’ll be honest I haven’t been in Rome for a very long time. But it’s in vintage stores right?
*Maneskin agreeing*
[12:30] Host: I have a very important moment, it is that you for the first time..mm.. finally brought back what we all missed and exactly that is bright and beautiful, outlined dignity male makeup on stage. Speaking of this..... talking veryyy slow so they can translate them quickly... speaking of this, I have a small favour/request ... *he kinda goes of track for a second* who does the make up, do you do it yourself?
Maneskin: no no
Damiano: no we have makeup artists, actually one makeup artist, very talented, well done. Between all of us, Victoria is best as makeup.
Host: Yeah, but with Victoria it’s understandable, it’s clear that she start trying makeup sooner than you did.
Host: I have an offer, imagine you don’t have your makeup artist and you have a person who urgently needs makeup applied. I would like to ask if you, Damiano, and the member could apply the makeup on my face? I honestly don’t know what you need to apply to makeup *he is opening palettes of makeup*
*Damiano stands up walking towards the host
Host: (in English) Thomas if you wanna, you know help, please.
*Thomas joins Damiano*
Host:(back in Russian) Victoria you can hint them
Translator: She (Victoria) said that you (Host) choose the wrong helpers
*audience laughs*
Host: Yeah? Then come join
*Victoria and Ethan join*
(Ok here it goes messy cause they are all talking and the translator instantly translates so I might have mixed up)
*Victoria points at some makeup product (can’t see which one)*
Host: This one?! Victoria...
Damiano: wait, I’ll go first, first add a bit of eyeliner
*Damiano applies eyeliner under the eye of the host*
Victoria: you started under the eye, you should’ve started from the top
Host: *joking* I’ll also always start with this line
*Victoria smiling shakes her head, audience laughing*
Damiano: Its the type of makeup you wear when you go grocery shopping
*Audience is laughing, host tries not to laugh while Damiano is applying eyeliner on him*
Host: I was actually planning to go grocery shopping
*Thomas and Victoria start applying eyeshadow on different parts of hosts face*
Host: Sto-wha- already other parts being applied?
*Audience laughing*
Host: Ok guys... but..
Host: Ethan is it ok? Your the only one I can trust in this group
Support host in the background: he’ll need to be returning home (as a joke implying he needs to look decent when he leaves the studio)
*Victoria applies makeup on the host lips*
Host: Also lips?! Hmmm
Ethan: you look good
Damiano: close your eyes *applies upper eyeliner*
Damiano: (in English) I don’t know what I am doing
Host: (in Russian) you don’t know what you are doing? No, that’s too late to tell me.
Damiano: (in English) that’s why we have a makeup artist
Host: (in Russian) no, wait, now your make up artist will say why am I even needed by this band.
Ethan: just a final touch *applies eyeshadow on the tip of the hosts nose, and walks away with two thumbs up*
*host laughs and then picks up mirror to look at the work*
Host: not bad guys, to be honest, not bad.
Damiano: (in Italian) No it’s true, look how pretty he is, very pretty
Host: guys I want to tell you one thing: never fire your make up artist
*audience laughing*
Host: Thank you for your visit and we are very grateful for your performance
Host: And what can I say, we are waiting here and with the whole company will to you concert. Grazie mille
————————————
Ooooooff that took wayyyy longer I planned, it was hard because I had to relisten some parts to know who actually said, like it is easier when it’s only one person cause I get to translate quicker.
Anyways, hope you all enjoyed this translation, if you have any maneskin interviews in Russian or German (warning: my German is a bit ruff from lack of practicing) which you would like me to translate, message me :)

Tattoo Shop AU - wolfstar
Tumblr media
*not my art but it’s stunning <33 it’s by @savysami !*
Pairing: Sirius Black x Remus Lupin (I love wolfstar sm)
Summary: Sirius owns a tattoo parlour. Wolfstar fluff ensues. Also, they’re not wizards and Remus isn’t a werewolf :)
Warnings: tattoo stuff -needles, blood, pain.
Word Count: 1420
A/N: This is apart of @band--psycho ‘s bingo challenge, I’m so excited to be apart of it :)) Disclaimer though, never once have I ever been into a tattoo parlour so this is what I assume happens but I could be wrong so read it with a pinch of salt if you actually know about tattoos. Hope you all enjoy <3
The soft glows of sunset brushed upon Remus’ skin, bringing out his freckles, as he paced back and forwards in front of the tattoo parlour he was booked into about 15 minutes ago. At first, he had not been phased by the idea of getting a tattoo - ever since he was a teen he thought they looked incredibly attractive and was so sure he wanted one. Now, however, as he stood reaching for the door handle for what must have been the fifth time, he was unusually nervous. What if it hurts too much? What if he hates it? What if he flinches and causes the artist to mess it up? With the many doubts running through his head, he had not yet spotted the amused-looking tattoo artist watching him through the window from the front desk. Deciding he could no longer sit and watch his 5 o’clock appointment pace in front of his shop, Sirius Black made his way outside, startling Remus as he opened the front door.
“So are you going to pace out here all night or would you like to come in?” Sirius mocked, still giving the other young man a warm smile as to not scare him off.
“S-sorry, I just, erm...well...” Remus stood like a deer in headlights at the (rather attractive) man in front of him, not really having a reason for his pacing that wouldn’t completely embarrass him.
“Don’t worry, most people who come in are nervous for their first tattoo.” Sirius reassured him, nodding his head into the parlour and holding the door open for Remus who very uncertainly took the hint to go inside.
The parlour was unexpectedly cosy - a small fireplace opposite the front desk making the art-covered walls glow orange. Pictures of past work hung above the desk and Remus couldn’t help thinking how beautifully talented you must be to be able to do any of it.
“I’m Sirius, by the way.” Sirius walked past Remus, towards a crooked spiral  stair case in the corner of the room. Remus supposed he should follow.
“I’m Remus. Sorry, I am quite late.” Remus with his six-foot-something frame struggled to fit in the passageway at the top of the stairs, ducking his head when he went under a light.
“Oh, it’s okay. You’re my last appointment and anyway,” Sirius now turned around to smile at Remus once again, walking backwards through a door that let to a tiny break room. “I enjoyed watching you pace, it was cute,”
“Oh, er, you saw the full fifteen minutes, huh?” Remus decided to chuckle instead of just combusting with regret, scratching at the back of his neck. Sirius hummed in response, flicking a kettle on.
“It’s okay, though, honestly. Loads of people get nervous coming in for their first tattoo...” the reassuring speech Sirius started was muted in Remus’ mind as he finally got to look properly at the artist.
Sirius Black was covered with tattoos. Tiny doodles peppered his skin, filling the space between some of his bigger pieces. On his forearm Remus noticed a constellation, although half of it was covered by the white shirt arms he had rolled up and untidily buttoned halfway up his arm. His skinny jeans didn’t quite go with the rather smart looking shirt, but once again Remus’ mind was racing because wow, Sirius Black was hot.
“So yeah,” Remus tuned back into Sirius’ words, both of them sitting round a small coffee table in the middle of the room on battered leather armchairs. “Drink your tea and we’ll talk about what you actually want tattooed. I’ll draw some designs and you can pick your favourite - oh, you don’t take sugar, do you?” Sirius asked just as Remus put his mug to his lips and shook his head. “I’ll answer any questions you have too, it might make you less nervous?”
Remus gave a small, grateful smile at this and murmured a thank you, placing his mug onto the table while Sirius opened his sketch book. “I actually had a few ideas, but I’m not sure which I’d like to go with. So, one of them was the phases of the moon, maybe just below my collar bone. Or, this on my bicep,”
Remus quickly took out his phone and showed a picture he’d saved a few weeks prior.
Tumblr media
“Not the writing, though, sort of just the circle bit,”
“Alright, great. Here, might be able to choose if you can see them drawn out.” Sirius thrust the sketch pad at Remus and he took it, biting his lip in concentration. The paper showed the tattoos he wanted drawn onto a rough sketch of both body parts. “If you want both that’s okay too. Like I said, you’re my last appointment so I really don’t mind if it takes a bit longer than expected.”
“Erm, can we do the moon phases one today and the other one another time? I’d hate to keep you late.” In reality, Remus wasn’t sure he’d stay 100% conscious if he got both done one after the other. He had just a little fear of needles. Sirius could definitely sense this was the real reason but didn’t push it.
“Definitely. Come on, we’ll go into the studio.” Remus followed him back out of the room and into the tiny corridor again but luckily went straight next door. In this room, everything was sleek and clean and smelled like disinfectant. A black couch stood against the wall, facing the tattoo chair. Drawers and plastic boxes of various equipment were organised about the room.
“Jump on the chair and pop your shirt off,” Sirius flicked the lamp attached to the chair on and sauntered across the room to get the tattoo gun, ink and disinfectant.
Pulling his David Bowie tshirt over his head, Remus started feeling even more shaky and nervous. A pit was starting to form in his stomach and he didn’t like it one bit.
“Nothing to worry about, okay? You’re perfectly safe, I promise.” Sirius had made his way back to sit on a stool next to Remus with everything he needed sprawled out next to him. His voice low and soothing, making Remus suppose that even if he was in an unbearable amount of pain in the next five minutes, at least he’d have a really attractive man telling him it’s okay in the most enchanting way he’d ever heard. “If you need me to stop for a few moments just tell me. Afterwards I’ll get you a lolly if you’re a really brave boy, yeah?”
Although mocking, there was a quite a suggestive undertone to Sirius’ words. Remus took a deep breath and nodded while the other boy got to work, cleaning the area under his collar bone. The tattoo gun then graced his soft skin, making him wince and screw his eyes shut, tensing up a little.
“Just try and relax for me, Remus. You’re doing great, it’ll be over in a minute.” Sirius’ soothing words caused Remus to relax into the chair a little, the pain becoming a little duller as blood prickled to the surface of his skin, making it numb.
After not long at all, the pain stopped and was replaced by an ache instead. Looking down, a perfect depiction of the moon phases was etched into his collar bone and he immediately loved it, even if it was reddened at the present.
“There we go, all done. See, that wasn’t too bad was it?” Sirius started cleaning the gun, putting various bits back where they came from and helping Remus out of the chair. “You good?”
“Yeah, yeah I’m alright. I really like it, thank you!” Remus was grinning at him, and Sirius couldn’t help but grin back.
Another five minutes and Remus had had his tattoo carefully wrapped up and was at the counter downstairs again, being given instructions on how to look after his tattoo until it heals.
“That’s a pack of all the stuff you’re gonna need to keep it from getting infected and swollen.” Remus was handed a plastic toiletries bag of different lotions and anti-bac stuff. “As promised, a lolly for being brave,” Sirius smirked as he handed Remus a strawberry flavoured lolly. “And, er, this is my number.” A small piece of paper with small digits was also handed over.
“In case I have any problems with it?”
“Yeah, I suppose that too. But also,” Sirius leaned in over the desk separating them, his smirk only growing. “In case you wanna text me so I can ask you on a date.”
Remus had never blushed so hard.

Four: Good For Me
Tumblr media
“So, Richard seemed to have been this… distraction. Because being around Stanley made you feel less than, but Richard admired you. You had no faults when you were with him. So, what made you end it? Did something else happen?”
“Yeah… The next day was his birthday.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He’d been texting me all morning. From the moment I opened my eyes, all throughout breakfast, as I took a shower and got dressed. Wasn’t it his birthday? Didn’t he have preparations to go through for his party that night? Of course, I wished him a happy birthday and assured him that I would attend his party. I figured I might as well buy him a present, since most people would only show up to eat food and get drunk. He probably wouldn’t have been receiving many gifts.
As I descended the stairs, I heard Pam and David rushing around the house. “We’re gonna be late, David!”
“I’m aware!”
“Where are the keys?!”
“In your hand!”
I chuckled and leaned against the railing. “What’s going on?”
David turned towards me and sighed. “It’s Jacob’s presentation today, remember? He’s doing that sort of TED Talk thing at school?”
“Oh, yeah… Well, I’m not gonna be able to go, I’d be late to Ricky’s party by the time we got back.”
“Shit, that’s right… I completely forgot about errands as well. It’s our only free day.” He ran his hands through his hair. I perked up and walked the rest of the way down.
“I can do it. I’ll already be out, buying a present for Ricky.”
“Are you sure, sweetheart?” Pam joined the conversation as she and David approached the front door. I nodded with a smile.
“Yeah, it’ll… give me something to do today.”
Pam gave me that same bittersweet smile she usually did before enveloping me in a hug. “You’re so perfect, (Y/N)...”
“Uh… thanks.” My brows furrowed as she pulled away. I looked to my uncle for any clue as to why she suddenly became so sentimental, but he avoided my gaze, muttering something about wanting me to be safe before walking out of the house. “Are you guys okay?”
“Yeah, baby, we’re fine. You be safe today. Don’t get so drunk that you can’t walk straight. And stay the night at Dina’s, if you can!” She called out as she left out the door. I only nodded my head in response, slowly closing the door after her. My phone vibrated in my pocket, so I fished it out to see yet another text.
Ricky: Do you wanna come over and spend the day with me?
I cringed and rolled my eyes. Wasn’t me coming to his party enough? Shaking my head, I replied to him.
Me: I’m actually booked until the party. Lots of errands to run for my aunt and uncle
To be truthfully honest, I just needed to go grocery shopping and stop by the bookstore to pick up Pam’s order. It would only have taken me about an hour at most to complete my tasks. Did Ricky need to know this? Not at all. Tucking my phone back into my pocket, I snatched the grocery list from the fridge and began my quest for the day.
It hadn’t actually registered in my mind that I would need a car for the day. Our list was pretty long, which left me with armfulls of paper grocery bags, my aunt’s book tucked into my jacket pocket located on the inside. I could hardly see over the tops of the bags, but navigated myself all the way towards the diner before I heard a car pull up beside me. I turned my head to see Stan, giving me a goofy grin, eyes shielded by his sunglasses. He reached over to open the passenger door from the inside. “Hey, there, lovely.”
“Good morning there, beautiful.” I chuckled, opening his back door to store my bags in his seats before climbing into the passenger seat beside him. “Thanks so much.”
“It’s my pleasure,” He tilted his head as if he just winked, but it wasn’t like I could’ve seen it. “So, you’re shopping for Aunt Pam?”
“Uh, yeah. Jake had a presentation at his school today and I… had things to do already. So, why not? Might as well do something for them,” I explained as he began driving again. Down the road, I spotted two familiar figures exiting the diner. “Oh, is that Sydney? And her brother?”
“Indeed, it is.” Stan grinned as he turned the corner. His car pulled over towards them, Sydney’s brother excitedly pointing us out. She turned to the car with pursed lips. I turned down the music as Stan reached over to roll down the window, the glass creaking at its usual agonizingly slow pace. I visibly cringed as Sydney gave a painful smile. Once it was down just enough, Stan nodded towards her. “Hey.”
“Hey.” Her smile turned a bit more genuine. Her brother, who introduced himself as Liam, greeted both Stan and I before we all shifted into an awkward silence. Thankfully, Stan broke it after a couple of beats.
“So, it’s good to see you again.”
“Yeah,” Sydney giggled, and I detected a hint of anxiety. “Yeah, you, too.”
“So, do you wanna,” Stan pushed his sunglasses to sit in his curls. “Do you wanna, like, do somethin’ later tonight or somethin’?”
Sydney opened her mouth, closed it, and opened it again, all while Stan held his glowing smile. What the hell was going on? “You know, I would, but Dina and I are going to Ricky Berry’s party.”
“No shit? I’ll be there, too.” Stan excitedly sat up.
“Oh, you will?”
“Yeah.”
“Ah. Okay, right,” She chuckled. Anyone around could tell that Sydney was clearly uncomfortable, except for Stan. He was on top of the world, it seemed. “So, I guess I’ll see you there. And we gotta go. Right now.” She quickly ushered her brother down the road. I leaned towards my window and giggled into my hand. Stan slowly slipped his sunglasses back on, muttering a ‘cool’, which only caused me to laugh harder.
“Okay, what the hell is going on between you two?”
Stan gave me a look, or what I assumed was a look, as he continued towards our houses. “What? What are you talking about?”
“What’s going on with you and Syd? And don’t say nothing. You’re literally glowing right now.”
“Okay, okay,” He cleared his throat. “So, last night… we, um… Well, we may or may not have had sex.”
I hoped he hadn’t noticed me hesitate. My brain short circuited and my throat constricted. “O-Oh, really? Like, last night-last night?”
“Yeah, last night-last night.”
“Gross.” I lightly joked and Stan rolled his head towards me with a sly smirk. Chuckling, he looked back towards the road.
“Anyway, I assume you’re going to the party, too? Since you’re Ricky’s little homecoming date now.”
My eyes widened. “You saw it, too?!”
“Everyone saw it, Nugget. ‘The Power Couple’ or whatever they said.” He shook his head.
“Ugh, we are not a couple and I do not want to go to homecoming with him!”
“Then why’d you say yes?!”
“Because everyone was there! They planned the whole thing and my brain just thought to say yes!” I buried my head in my hands. I heard Stan coo from beside me with a small tut.
“My poor little Nugget. I should’ve asked you out before Ricky could.”
I peeked up at him with a warm smile. “Nah, it’s okay. It’s just homecoming, I’m not marrying him. Besides you should ask out Sydney, anyway.”
“Oh, that is the plan.” He grinned.
When we arrived at my house, I got out to carry in the bags, but I heard Stan turn off the car and exit as well. He joined me in retrieving the bags from the seats and waited patiently for me to unlock the front door. Once we were inside, we headed straight for the kitchen and set the bags on the table.
“It’s been awhile since I’ve been inside here,” He commented, looking around the house with a soft smile. I hummed in agreement before our gazes met. “Does your bedroom still look the same?”
The feeling that swept through my soul as I watched Stan excitedly explore my bedroom was a feeling I’d never felt before, but never wanted to leave. He marveled at all of the little trinkets displayed on my shelves, my organized bookshelf, the board above my desk filled with every pin I’ve ever collected. But what had him giddy and pumping his fist in the air was the Bloodwitch poster on my door. “Ah, I knew it! You knew all of the words to Hey Little Girl! You used to hate that song!”
“I don’t have to like the song to know all the words, all you play is Bloodwitch!” I laughed. He pointed towards me as if to say ‘don’t deny it’. I deflated. “Okay, yeah, I finally got into Bloodwitch. I guess it was… just something to remind me of you.”
I nervously stuffed my hands into the pockets of my jeans as Stan slowly lowered his arm, his expression softening. His stance stuttered, like he had stopped himself from doing or saying something instinctive, before scoffing.
“Yeah, well, the school’s horrible plays are what reminded me of you.” He rolled his eyes, receiving a light slap to the arm from me. Once Stan left for his own home, I returned to the kitchen to put the food away in their respective places. I made sure to put David’s cookies in his ‘secret’ compartment within the pantry. I knew he’d appreciate it since Jacob always found them if they weren’t stored correctly. I quietly giggled to myself, thinking back to a time when Jacob swore up and down that he hadn’t eaten the cookies. In fact, I remember correctly that we both had eaten them and he was just trying to cover for the both of us. We were caught the next day and forced to sit through a fifteen minute lecture on respecting our elders and the importance of privacy.
I nearly forgot about Pam’s book, but I remembered as I passed her bedroom door. Slipping it out of my pocket, I entered her room. There were shoes scattered across the floor and the bed was unmade, no doubt from her rushing around earlier. Knowing that she’d check her dresser, I set her book just there. However, I noticed a small, rectangular beige box already sitting there. I would have left it alone until I saw my name written on it. My hand reached out to pick up the box, but I stopped. It’s probably a present, I thought. I shouldn’t open it until it’s given to me. So, with a small hum of uncertainty, I left the bedroom.
Contrary to popular belief, I actually have a pretty simplistic fashion sense. It was nowhere near as bold as Stan’s, and I suppose that’s why we were seen as an odd pair, but I had just a bit more flare than my fellow peers. Everyone was just a copy-and-paste version of each other. They wore the same skinny jeans, the same fitted shirts, the same sneakers. While I never wore bright yellows and greens, I still hadn’t conformed to the everyday go-to fashion line that was their “hot” or “cute”. Besides, Brownsville was so boring, everything and everyone there was so one-dimensional. It only made sense that their choice in clothing was the same. What I’m trying to say is that people thought I had a bold fashion sense because I simply dressed differently, but it was simply how we dressed in my hometown in Kansas. I think Stan would have fit in at home.
I was a back-and-forth routine from my dresser to my bed, texting Dina as I readied myself for Ricky’s party that night. Apparently, she had Sydney over at her house, the two getting ready together. I didn’t have a problem with it, as long as Dina was still picking me up. She informed me that she had just gotten Syd into a cute top that would show more skin than she usually did. Despite not really being her friend, knowing that Sydney was leaving her comfort zone, as small of a step as it was, had me smiling at my phone, However, that smile dropped at the next text Dina sent.
Dina: Omg you HAVE to look cute for Ricky tonight
I rolled my eyes so hard it hurt.
Me: I don’t get dressed up for boys anymore. I do it for myself
And it was true. When Ricky and I dated, I felt as though I had to look the part of the trophy he presented to everyone. I wore clothes I normally didn’t, I wore more makeup, smiled more. Even if they were faked. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like pretending, but Ricky didn’t seem to mind. He’d simply point out that he “liked the new look”. Well, I’ve changed. My half year solitude in Kansas taught me self-awareness, and I became aware that I am fucking hot. So, I did look cute that night, but not for Ricky. I did it for my own pleasure. And I hoped they all liked the new look.
Of course, my go-to bottoms were black high-waisted jeans that stopped just above my navel, paired with a red long-sleeved crop top. To match, I added in little black and red clips in my hair and dusted black eyeshadow on my lids. Afterwards, I stepped in front of my mirror to admire my work. I remember my mom telling me when I was young that looking in the mirror will tell you everything you hope to see in yourself, and I agree with that to some extent. But looking at myself in that moment told me that, despite how shitty I felt on a daily basis, I was more than deserving of reveling in my new adaptation. I wasn’t at my happiest, and lord knows I’m still screwed up, but at least I knew who I was. I wasn’t some angry, emotional ball of anxiety, deprived of parental love. Yes, I was turned away from my father more than ever at that point, but I had realized where all the love for me resided. I was someone’s daughter, someone’s sister, someone’s best friend.
Someone’s girlfriend.
Or whatever the hell we were supposed to be.
Hearing my phone ping, I picked it up and read the text from Dina.
Dina: We’re here
Tucking my phone into my pocket, I slipped on some white sneakers and grabbed Ricky’s present off my vanity before dashing downstairs. I opened the door to find Dina and Sydney standing together on my doorstep. Upon seeing me, their jaws dropped. “Whoa, you look… hot.” Syd raised her brows, and I couldn’t help but smile at her approval. Dina chuckled and nodded.
“Yeah, (Y/N), you always seem to surprise us…”
“I try my best.” I stepped out of the house and locked the front door before facing the two. “Let’s party, shall we?”
-------------------------------------------------
Music thumped from the inside of the house as we approached the driveway, some party goers trickling inside. Sydney, Dina and I all stopped in the middle of the driveway, staring up at Ricky’s house. The two seemed excitedly anxious, but I felt as if I was going to hurl my guts up. The last time I had been in that house wasn’t the most pleasurable experience.
He can’t and won’t do that to you again, (Y/N).
What I would give to go back in time to warn her.
“Shit…” Sydney breathed.
“Okay, I’m scared, but fun scared,” Dina nodded, glancing between me and Syd. “Like we’re about to skydive for the first time or something.”
“Well, I’m not fun scared.” Syd turned her gaze back to the house.
“Me neither…” My voice was just above a whisper.
“Feels like we’re about to be eaten by wolves, like… really drunk, judgemental wolves.”
A moment of silence for all confidence lost.
“We’re gonna be fine,” Dina decided. “I just wish I could inject vodka directly into my veins first.”
“I do have this.” Syd smiled and pulled out a flask. Dina and I grinned before the former took it from her best friend. She took a hearty gulp from the flask before handing it over to me. Not wanting to get too drunk just yet, I took a few sips and handed the flask back to its owner. Once we were fueled up, we headed inside. I’d spent so many hours in Ricky’s house, but so few of those hours were spent partying. The most people I’d seen in his home were about six, including me. That was when he brought me over for dinner the first time and both his older brothers attended. What a waste that dinner was. I led the two up the stairs, kindly waving at my peers who called out to me. Most of them complimented my outfit, to which I quietly thanked. As we entered the main room, the volume of the music and the voices increased so that I was swimming in my surroundings.
“Dina!” I heard Ricky call out. The three of us turned to the birthday boy as he approached us. “Welcome to the madness!”
“Hey.” Dina smiled. His eyes then slid over to me, his own smile brightening.
“And Zip… God, you look great. Really great.”
“Thanks, Ricky. Happy birthday.” I nodded before letting him pull me into his side. I placed a hand on his chest to steady myself as his head turned to Sydney, as if she’d just walked in and didn’t appear with us.
“Hey. Hey. Oh, gosh, don’t tell me. I know it. I know this one.” He acted as if he were trying so hard to remember his own classmate’s name. I rolled my eyes and removed my hand from his chest. Sydney slowly nodded her head, giving him just a bit more time to “think” before answering.
“Sydney.”
“Right! I thought it started with an S, yeah. Well, you guys go enjoy, alright? Zip, why don’t you come and party with me?”
“Oh, well, um…,” My gaze shifted from Ricky’s smile to Dina’s slight frown. Sighing, I gestured for the two to go. “I’ll find you guys later. Have fun.”
“You, too.” They replied simultaneously before Ricky pulled me away to a group of friends. As we walked, I handed the little box over to him.
“Got you something.”
“Awe, babe, you shouldn’t have.” He lightly laughed and took the box into his hands. His eyes widened when he opened it to reveal a gold watch he’d been talking about for awhile. He claimed his father wouldn’t let him buy it because Ricky needed to stop spending so much money on himself. It wasn’t very expensive, so I thought it’d be as good a present as any. With child-like giddiness, he slapped the watch onto his wrist before kissing my cheek. “(Y/N), you are the most thoughtful girl in this world.”
Why did my heart skip a beat? “It was nothing, Ricky… You always go all-out for me, so…” There was no part of me that actually liked Ricky. Remember that. I think the liquor from earlier had just gotten to me. With a soft sigh, he hugged me from behind and walked me to a nearby table where boxes of pizza were displayed.
“You hungry?”
“I am, actually…”
My time spent at Ricky’s party felt as if I were on a mission. Mission Ignore Ricky. He was attached to me the whole time, arm around the bare of my waist, around my shoulders. It was like he needed to be certain that I was still there. That he could still look at me. Everytime I tried to go and find Syd and Dina, he pulled me right back into his side. My only solution was to drink heavily. Whenever someone offered to refill my cup, I accepted. If someone handed over a can of beer, I took it. A shot? Hell yes, count me in! Anything to drown out the sound of his voice in my ears. I’m not a lightweight, so it takes awhile for my haze to kick in. When it did, I was a smiling mess, nodding along to everything everyone said. In my underwater state, I could faintly make out Ricky referring to me as his girlfriend in conversations with his friends. With a grunt, I lazily slapped his shoulder, eliciting laughter amongst them. Within ten minutes, a Rick Springfield song that everyone collectively liked started up in the speakers. We all cheered and began dancing. I happily laughed as Ricky rested his hands on my hips, the two of us grooving to the music. He shook his head as he marveled at my drunken state.
“I’ve missed this…”
“Getting drunk?”
“No. Your smile. Your laugh,” He leaned forward. “I’ve missed you.”
“That’s so… poetic.” I whispered, causing a quiet laugh to escape his throat. My eyes slid to the right to find Stan. My breathing quickened at the sight of him in a baby blue suit, sitting alone on a couch with Dina and Syd dancing together in front of him. How I wished to be over there… Especially when he looked up and locked eyes with mine. All of the air in my lungs was kicked out at the relieved smile he gave me, and I breathed out in the same emotion. He’s here…
Ricky suddenly looked up over my head, an even wider smile stretching across his face. “Bra-a-ad! You made it!” He exclaimed and walked the both of us over to his best friend. The two high-fived as I blinked rapidly, as if I’d sober up from it.
“Dude, I had to come,” Brad smiled before his attention moved to me. “Zip, hey!”
“Hey.”
“Did you come here with Dina?”
“Yeah, yeah, she’s… um, dancing or something.” I giggled. Brad nodded with a raised brow.
“Someone’s been havin’ fun, huh?” He chuckled before I felt Ricky turn away.
“Hey, everyone! Bradley Lewis in the house!” He announced, cheers erupting from the party participants. They all cheered for a speech, which I found unnecessary, but leaned my head on Ricky’s shoulder as I listened to Brad quiet everyone.
“Eighteen years and nine months ago today, George Reginald Berry and his sweet wife Carol-”
“That’s not their names.” Ricky shook his head in amusement, everyone quietly laughing with him.
“They were drinkin’ a little bit of pinot grig’, and they were blastin’ some Neil Diamond. And then nine months later, Richard “Dickwad” Berry was born. And thank god for that because the Berrys’ birthday parties are the fucking best! To Ricky, everybody!”
With the cheers that followed, I found it to be my perfect time for escape. I slipped away from Ricky and squeezed through countless bodies to reach the back door. Stumbling outside, I caught myself on the railing towards the stairs that led off the deck. With difficulty, my wobbly legs took me down to the side of the house, where my hero was leaning against, readying a joint. There was no doubt my ceaseless giggling was what attracted his attention. He chuckled and watched as I stumbled towards him, falling into his side. Stan wrapped an arm around me as I laughed.
“Hey, there, lovely.”
“Hi, beautiful.” I grinned up at him, eyes half lidded. His brows drew down for a moment before he remembered his occupied hand. Removing his arm from around me, he took out his lighter, setting a flame to the end of his joint. I watched in fascination as he inhaled the smoke with closed eyes. His curls sat on his forehead, his lips pursed around the joint, his other arm made its way around my shoulders again. I rested my chin on his shoulder before he passed the smoke to me. I happily took a hit and let the peaceful silence fall between us for the five seconds that it lasted.
“So, you and Ricky… How’s that going?”
“How’s what going?” I mumbled.
“You know, you guys dating. It’s what he’s telling everyone.”
“Oh, my god, I knew he was telling everyone!” I groaned and ran a hand over my face. “I’m so sick of that. He can’t just... f-fucking, um… fucking lie to everyone like that! We are not dating, we’ve never even talked about it! What the hell, dude… I don’t even get why he’s so in love with me, Stan…”
He didn’t reply at first, but when I looked up, I realized it was because he was smoking. When he pulled the joint from his lips, he stared forward. “I mean, he’s got someone amazing, if you guys were actually dating. Believe it or not, (Y/N), you’re the coolest person I’ve ever met. And you’re fun and humorous and so driven. You’ve got these huge dreams and you’ll follow every single one of them… I’d be pretty proud if you were my girlfriend,” The second he looked down at me, I giggled loudly. He blushed and moved his eyes to the side. “I-I’m- I’m serious!”
Elevating myself with my toes, I closed the gap between us in a sloppy kiss. I could taste the alcohol on his lips and I was sure he could taste the same on mine. My hands reached up and placed themselves on his cheeks. I felt him lean more into the kiss for a second before he quickly ripped himself away, as if he were just burned. He blinked over and over as I tried to settle my blurry vision on him. Shaking his head, he sighed.
“(Y/N), you’re drunk.”
“I’m drunk.”
“Yeah, we can’t do this.” He seemed to be telling himself more than to me. I pouted and loosely wrapped my arms around him.
“I love you, Stan…”
“I love you, too, but I think you should get inside and find Dina.” He ushered me to the stairs and watched as I carefully planted my foot on the first step.
“Okay… I’m sorry, Stan.”
“You’re fine, I promise.”
“Okay. I’m gonna go inside, okay? You’re gonna be okay out here by yourself, okay? Okay?” I widened my eyes when he didn’t immediately answer. He let out a short laugh and turned me around again.
“Alright, go inside and find Dina.”
“‘Kay. I love you, Stan.”
“I love you, too. I’m gonna stand here and watch you go.”
“Have fun.” I sang and ungracefully made my way up the stairs and back inside the house.
Apologizing to the many people I bumped into, I found myself in the hallway, in between the bedrooms. My head felt like it weighed tons, my eyes wanted to close so badly. I felt a hand on my shoulder and leaned into the body behind me.
“There you are. I’ve been looking for you.”
My head whirled around to find Ricky behind me. I felt myself deflate in disappointment. “Hey, Ricky…”
“Where’ve you been, babe?”
“Oh, I was talking to my friend outside.” I grinned at the thought of Stan. Ricky raised a brow in amusement and I quickly covered my mouth as to not let the moment between Stan and I slip out. His dark brown orbs flickered between me and the door behind me before he gently took hold of my arm.
“Let’s go somewhere private, okay?”
“Okay.” I whispered, allowing him to guide me wherever. Before I knew it, we were in a room. I heard the click of a lock from behind before Ricky was suddenly in front of me. My head swam as I surveyed my surroundings, quickly realizing we were in his bedroom. “Oh, what are we doing?”
“Shh, shh, don’t worry about it.” He whispered. I hummed a little tune as I felt his hands move to my exposed skin, tracing little shapes. He littered my jaw in small kisses as he discarded my top. I shivered and wrapped my arms around my torso for warmth.
“Ricky, what are we doing?” I repeated as he popped the button of my jeans loose. Gasping, I moved his hands away. “No, no… I don’t want to…” I weakly protested.
“No, it’s okay, babe, it’s okay.” He shushed me. I felt myself fall back into his cool bed sheets. I blinked slowly. Once, his ceiling. Twice, his ceiling. Thrice, him. He was on top of me, my pants were gone, and his hands were travelling places I never wanted them to be. I let out a whine of protest, but he clearly took it as pleasure.
“Ricky…” I sighed out as his finger hooked under my bra strap. “Don’t… Stop…” I squirmed under him, both my stupor and high clouding my consciousness.
I don’t remember it. I don’t remember how it felt. I just didn’t like it. I didn’t like Ricky.
Sunlight pierced my eyelids as I felt warm lips on my forehead. I opened my eyes to find Ricky, fully dressed in different clothing than I last saw him in. He was holding out a glass of water and a couple pills. “For your head.”
“My head?” I whined, but hissed right when a splitting headache spread across my skull. I sat up, holding my head. My body was suddenly freezing cold and when I went to wrap my arms around myself, I saw that I was bare. Gasping, I clutched Ricky’s covers over me. “Oh, my god…”
“Yeah,” Ricky chuckled and set the medicine down. “We were so drunk last night… Anyway, I wanna take you out for brunch, so you should start getting ready. You can wear my clothes, babe.” He spoke as he headed out of the room, closing the door behind him. My eyes travelled to my undergarments on the floor not too far from the bed.
Fuck.
