it's Midorima's birthday, so naturally it was time for me to draw his second skin in my animal shapeshifter AU: a regal elk! I think I may use the excuse of bdays to finally draw everyone's animal form. at least the GoM's.

back when I was first writing this au, I had a really hard time picking a predator that fit him, since I wanted the GoM to all be rather intimidating and strong animals. But then I had the thought....what if he WASN'T a predator at all? He then ended up being the only non-predator on the GoM. but don't let his prey-status fool you, his animal form stands at 5 feet tall (152+cm) from hooves to shoulders, not including his head and impressive set of antlers. his stag form weights over 700 pounds (317+kg)!! you definitely don't want to be on the business-end of a pissed-off elk.

side note: bird shifters have it pretty easy in my au, since they don't really have a half-shifted form like most other shifters (who can be seen spotting their ears and tails when feeling overly excited/overexerted). Avian shifters only randomly shed feathers and their nails sharpen into talons when half-shifted. poor midorima though gets his ears, tail, smaller forms of his antlers, plus some of the speckling/freckles that can be seen on his animal form's coat. Takao of course finds all these things hilariously endearing, especially since it's not often that Midorima shifts in public, let alone lose control of his instincts enough to half-shift.

Tips for Writing Fight Scenes

Getting punched or hit in the stomach hurts. Getting hit in the chest or diaphragm makes your lungs freak out making it hard to breath.

STOP using flashy moves! They’re easy to avoid

Getting punched in the nose makes your eyes water, ALOT

People work in their comfort zone. Depending on what type of fighting it is it will be different. Boxers stay on their feet. Wrestlers go for the ground.

If you get hit in the jaw hard enough you're going down. It’s basically the easiest way to knock out.

Keep in mind size difference. Bigger people have the advantage in strength. Smaller people have advantage in speed.

Short sentances! when your writing its easier to follow when it's straight to the point.

Same things with words. Don't try to use fancy language. Use simple clear and consise wording to help you reader understand.

Cut the drama. Charcters are not going to dwell on what the attacker said a minute ago if they're coming at them with a knife.

I'm a perpetual early bird, so here is my part of @knbexchange 's Valentine/White Day exchange. Surprise, @evelhak , I was your partner! And I don't only have these silly drawings to present to you, but a fic too!! These drawings are actually more-like bonus content that takes place after the fic. The fic details Momoi and Aomine's complicated thoughts as they help kagakuro prepare for a date night, which involves; makeovers, philosophical conversations, gift hunting, emotional confrontations...all that good stuff that you said you liked! I hope I did a good job capturing those things. I didn't get to go into how the date goes in the fic itself, so I figured I would draw it out. :D Can you spot the little hard-to-see surprise in pic 1?

Truth time... I have always been a big fan of Ernest Hemingway‘s short stories but until this past year I had never actually read one of his novels. I know, I know. That is basically blasphemy to say as both an avid reader and wannabe author. I do own several of his novels I’ve just never gotten around to reading them. I decided to start with The Sun Also Rises. In true Hemingway style, this book is written with concise, short sentences and very direct storytelling. The characters are more relatable then likable which is kind of refreshing compared to many books. There really isn’t all that much in terms of a major climax but that’s kind of what makes this book great. As a reader, you feel like a fly on the wall of the characters’ every day lives and the deep flaws that surround them. 📚What’s your favourite Hemingway novel or short story?📚

Wandering. Miles and miles and miles... Still I can see the path becoming smaller as I'm leaving it behind.

My feet, still feeling itchy from the stings of the shards of glass and the pebbles that were gnawing on my soles.

Wandering. Miles and miles and some more miles and it will be nothing but a faint memory, this path, lost in the distance.

It's getting smaller with every minute I keep on walking. Clouds wandered by, bright and dark, I thought it would be raining but those were just my tears coming down, remembering the sun from the beginning of that path.

i had one au where his mom's still alive but remarried an american man + stayed over there, so taiga got a step-big sister and little half-siblings (his mom and step dad had twins). he talks to them pretty frequently and stays with them whenever he's in the states, but doesn't know them as well as he'd like. (the fic's concept was that taiga's step-sis is getting married and post WC kagakuro go to the US for the wedding)

so idk what it is, but taiga with a big sis must just be a true vibe since other people randomly think so haha

A Strange New Years

  As to most families, we huddle up in a big group like a football team trying to win their last game. The oldest sibling smiling like a chimpanzee. The youngest drinking non-alcoholic champagne. The mid sibling is always so calm without a worry of troubles incoming this new year. My father, the team captain, proudly counting down the clock for the decade to end. Then my mother who is happy but at the same time sad, learning that from a few days in the past, her father is sick with kidney failure. The clock hits 12AM, we cheer and scream for this new year to explore and learn new things. We dance, we drink our champagne and give each other big hugs and kisses; strange enough my mother was softly smiling. Watching us this New Years be a new thing from us to enjoy. I wonder if she is okay, I wonder is she wished for only one thing. A good healthy family, wishing my grandfather would restore back to good health.

I have 6 one shot WIPs that I want to get finished, and I just got hit with inspiration for 2 multi-chapter fics that I want to write: a Coyote Ugly AU and a Princess Bride AU.
