But I appreciate my free time more now??#What you're looking at above is 64 of the cards from the game I'm makin. They are all programmed in and done. I've done another 32 since.#You may recognize the bottom row as elves from beasties of greenhollow. They aren't as central to the story #But I frankly adore the game mechanic they provide. I don't think any card game has done what they do #Flatmate loves when I give him a new version to test. He will sit and experiment with every deck I've made #I've taken a little break from it. We went to Amsterdam together a week ago and loved it. Well in hindsight anyway.#I was frankly stressing out about every little thing. But I got some nice photos.#First time organizing a holiday with a friend... that wasn't just to Arran. We did that and it was miserable. sorry.#Really it was only because of the state I was in emotionally. But also there isn't a lot to do there.#I recently got back to walking. I took a break over winter because my shoes got DEMOLISHED from so much use.#And I had to use my backup ones. Today I walked for 3 hours and felt damn good after. I might get even fitter this year.#Work hours are down. I'm doing okay though. Frankly I want more time to work on this game.#ALSO I SAW NELWARD LIVE!!! I was so fucking excited. He signed my record sleeve. I'm kind of collecting them.#It's far more of a “normal” hobby to collect records than digimon cards or japanese ps1 games. Maybe I'm growing up????#I'm really proud of what this is forming into. The story is forming up and it's linking everything together beautifully.#I just need to actually finish it. I've proven with BoG that I can actually finish what I start and I'm really proud of myself #But it turned out far less than I wanted it to be. I'm not at liberty to say what went wrong but let's just say I'm glad I'm solo for this.#I'm eating a good bit better too. Until amsterdam I stayed off sugar for like almost a month #Not too much to complain about. I am content

on the bright side i’ve figured out how to make auto actions in csp and made one each for a blur/noise filter and chromatic aberration. with the goal of looking like a screenshot of something from cartoon network in the 2000s

it took So Much trial and error to get the chromatic aberration to work well but once i learned that the auto action can only happen to one layer at a time i got it down pat

#it feels a little silly to say but i felt really smart while i was figuring it out #the noise effect was easy. the chromatic aberration wasn’t #auto actions only record making a new layer; changing layer modes; making correction layers; changing a layer’s settings; transforming. etc #you can’t record drawing anything or like making a fill or applying a texture unless it’s perlin noise afaik #normally to do chromatic aberration you make 3 copies of your final drawing; clip pure RGB layers to each. one red. one green. one blue #all of the values at 255 for the given color and 0 for the other 2. set the color layer to multiply. merge each with their drawing #so you have 3 layers of your drawing in R G and B #set the top 2 to screen and then start offsetting them however you like depending on how strong you want the effect to be #bwammm #to get recordable steps for auto action i had to do everything to each color layer at once #copy the drawing. so the action is COPY. new correction layer gradient map; i made 3 gradient maps that were flat R B G #like not actually maps. but that was the easiest way i could think to get a ‘fill’ in an auto action #next clip it and set it to multiply. merge. then i had to offset it w/o being able to see what it’d look like at the end #since auto actions only work on the ‘top’ layer. you can’t hop between layers. you can only work in one direction #so to make sure the aberration looked right i did a test run and counted out the pixels transformed in each direction for each color layer #like when zoomed in 4 times from base R goes up 3 left 1; B down 2 right 4. etc #so id just know how to transform each layer while i was recording the action and id get a reliable aberration with a halo i liked #the auto action doesn’t include merging everything at the end bc that scares me. so i can always just edit the offsets on each color layer #for future uses of the action. but. i like knowing i got a reliable recording of a good offset on each color #i can just make a drawing look like it came from the 2000s in 2 clicks now!#2 clicks!!! i got it!! i’ve tested it on a few drawings and it just works!! two clicks!!!#i’m proud of a lot of parts of this lineup. i might talk about it more on here or insta for funsies #i like breaking down my own art. i think a lot of technical artists do #god there’s a reason my mom thinks i should be an art teacher 😭😭😭#i talk

#finally beat the fake gamer allegations and finished the game so i have the right to aggressively glaze it now #like shit man yes it's a flawed game but my god it was a genuine attempt to evolve the classic mega man formula!!!!#genuinely believe that if we got a mega man 9 on the playstation in like '99 [because lmao] it could've been the coolest shit on earth #[yes i know mega man and bass is literally internally mega man 8.5 but it's got problems of its own lol]#keep the gorgeous pixel art style and creativity in stage gimmicks and the playstyle customisation options via bolts #and the genuine heartfelt attempt to tell a story even if it's simple and the quality of life features like being able to fucking save #and refine or replace the bits that didn't work like the sluggish jump response and wonky dub voice acting and jump jump slide slide #you know me i'm a sonic adventure 2 fan i love me some scuffed controls and charmingly bad english dubs but it's not for everyone #but instead we got fucking nothing for a decade and then they just nostalgia baited instead of actually trying to evolve the series #no shade to mega man 9 i'm about to play it and i bet i'll have fun but oh my GOD we have 11 games and eight of them look the fucking same #i don't care that the nes mega man spriting style is objectively extremely good and has stood the test of time i want something new!!!!#man. last time i had a big ol yap about a mega man game in the tags of a one sentence post was like 3-4 years ago. it's good to be back

This style is perfect for just getting a scribble down and then extrapolating from there!#Surely we've all seen the phenomenon of starting with something simple and expanding and building once the base is established #Like kid drawings being redrawn by professionals :D Or pixel art into fully rendered or Minecraft skins open to interpretation #The urge to Artistic Liberty lol - I just managed to find a style that I can do both in >:3c Create the initial and build from there! Yay!!#Love having that as an option ♪ And like I said she's criminally fun to draw like this lol she's just a cute rectangle #Plus - and this is really the big plus lol - since WOY is so silhouette-based it's a great style to test outfits on #The biggest problem for designing her TVAU outfit for me has been how readable it is with and without the wings #Classic Charm is perfect and that's reflected in her design as well ♪ TVAU is in the image of another hm hm hm #<Already a tag lol - but she is! Classic Charm has the perfect amounts of breaks and rests and interest and design flow I just hhh <3 <3 #And also true for the TVAU! Charm is under pretty direct influence by that point and I want that to be very reflected in her outfit!#I had a bunch of themes I wanted to explore like two months ago but kept coming up empty :P But now that I've had a chanced to simmer :3c #The biggest elements I'm happiest with are her belly showing in the first one - one of the themes was ''forced vulnerability'' so #I'm not sure what to do with the hem of her pants tho I very intentionally didn't design where her shirt and pants meet in Classic lol #The second design is probably my favourite overall :D And not Just because she turned out so cute in the WOY style haha #I mean she also turned out very cute in the JD style hehe - but I kinda forgot that Kaiein started as a dragon!#Turning her spiderweb theme into dragon scales is so just- how did I not think of that before gods what a brilliant idea lol #And I can keep scalloping! Scallops forever dragon scales spider webs sugar candy sweets ♪ My favourite :D #I like that it keeps the shawl as well while still having very uncovered shoulders - feels villainy and still reflective of her design :D #The last one is more building off the previous two - chest window for the vulnerability theme - dragon scale ''train'' like the first's #I think it's decent but it was honestly more for the dark striped leggings since the middle had them light like her Classic design #One of the other themes I was going for was ''coloured over/blotted out'' and having it be ''her'' design while literally coloured out #I think there's something to that :3c #Also *toots own horn* I did a fantastic job reconstructing her leg in that last one >:3c #I bet you'd never know the the entire bottom half of her left leg had to be digitally added after the fact! I even did that with my trackpad #Hehehe ♪♫ Quite pleased :3c

Current blinkie wip I’ve been working on. Can’t decide on a background or the actual blinkie bits colors, I usually just throw stuff at the wall hoping it looks ok but not really having a plan color wise hehe

Working through my sketch ideas (photo of those below) and I just really like this one (I’ve finished the worm one I’m just sort of waiting till my tags come back online before posting them, gonna be a compilation post me thinks cuz this is the 3rd one I’ve made this week lol :] )

This is how I sketch them out, I’m just working through my pile. Not doing ever single one since some are joke ones that if I do I would have to start from scratch on with a new idea but I’ve got a good chuck I wanna do :] can’t wait for my more ambitious ones (those are targeted mainly for me but you know, I wanna wait and improve a bit more before tackling them so that I’m actually happy with them cuz I am the targeted audience anyways. But I think people are gonna like my more simple ones too. Excited for those and will be sad once their gone)

this is what i managed to do back in May lmao. in my defense Willow wasnt able to walk diagonally and i fixed that. me. i did that. and then nothing else lol.
