Hajime Hinata VS Izuku Midoriya [Danganronpa Survivor VS My Hero Academia]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hifumi: Hajime Hinata, the Ultimate Hope from Hope's Peak Academy.
Tumblr media
Leona: Izuku Midoriya, the Symbol of Hope from U.A Academy!
Uchui: The masses need a savior when the world is in danger. In a society that consistently held them back, these incredible heroes began life with nothing and developed the charm, fortitude, compassion, and drive to defend the people they care about.
Hifumi: However, which one of them will prevail when everything is on the line?
Leona: He's Hifumi, I'm Leona and THAT'S Uchui!
Hifumi: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, talents and skills, to see who will win a DEATH BATTLE!
Tumblr media
Leona: So we've decided to have Uchui come back for another major role in an episode, and in case you're wondering why...This. This is why.
Uchui: Yes. After all, I happen to have quite a unique attachment to our combatant today.
Leona: Everyone strap in, because we are about to talk about one of the most convoluted and batshit crazy backstories in all Danganronpa lore...and yes, I ACTUALLY mean that this time.
Hifumi: To start with, let's once again go over Hope's Peak Academy, since it actually plays a pretty heavy role in this story, even more so than compared to our other combatants. There are definitely a lot of talented people in our world who have extraordinary skills that make them appear superior to others. People swarm to these gifted individuals, referring to them as prodigies, savants, or even geniuses.
Leona: And Hope's Peak is a school that focuses on these people, giving them Ultimate titles. Like the 77th Class of Ultimate Students, which were freshmen around the same time this story starts. They included characters like the Ultimate Gamer, Gymnast, Team Manager, Mechanic, Photographer...even Princess and Yakuza!
Uchui: Hope's Peak Academy and it's staff did not care about who you were or where you were from. Be you a poor slum dweller with barely any cash or power to your name, or the heir to a powerful empire with a criminal underbelly, it didn't matter. So long as you were the most talented high schooler in your respective field, you could be invited to attend Hope's Peak's main course as an Ultimate.
Hifumi: Emphasis on the "invite" part. Unlike most Japanese high schools, Hope's Peak Academy does not have an entrance exam, at least it didn't at the time. Modern Hope's Peak under the guide of Makoto Naegi is different and more welcoming, but back in the old days, you had to actively be scouted by the academy itself in order for a chance to attend.
Uchui: There WAS, however, more to this. In the year that Class 77-B enrolled, the Reserve Course was launched by the Academy runners. It was designed for students without talent who could attend classes for a hefty fee. Reserve Course attendance was required, and students were treated like regular students, in contrast to Ultimate students who could choose to attend classes or not. Only three Reserve Course students are currently recognized by name, but the most significant by far...was Hajime Hinata.
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Like many of his kind, Mr Hinata had always admired Hope's Peak Academy and hoped to attend since he was a young child. It was a lofty ambition of his, comparable to becoming a superhero or celebrity. Being a part of something greater than himself would allow him to overcome his self-consciousness and grow into a person he could be proud of. Being a talentless person, he thought his life was boring, and that he himself was worthless.
Leona: But thanks to the Reserve Course, Hajime got to attend his dream school, lived a happy life, and enjoyed his studies to the fullest, right? Right?
Uchui: Not by a LONG shot. Even as a Reserve student with no talent, Hajime continued to feel inadequate. He was so resentful of his own limitations that it drove him to want to enroll in the Main Course, not be some backup student. And frankly, the Academy itself and the twisted bastards that ran it, the Steering Committee, did NOT help with this. In fact, they only ADDED to the emotional damage!
Hifumi: In the eyes of the academy runners, having talent was the key to success in life; without it, one can only lead a life of mediocrity and meaninglessness. The Reserve Course Students were despised as merely affluent children who gained admission to the Academy of Hope by buying their way in.
Leona: Oh...Well...That's ok! 'Cause he made a friend! A friend in the form of a really cute and chubby main-course student, Chiaki Nanami! The Ultimate Gamer! They met on the first day of school and met at the fountain to play video games together on a regular basis. She once consoled him after he was upset about not having a talent, telling him that there is more to life than that and that spending time with others is was important.
Uchui: While I can get behind that, and while Hajime was happy to have her company, his obsession with being something greater did not lessen. In fact, the longer he stayed at Hope's Peak, the worse things got, especially when one of his fellow Reserve Course students was murdered by another, and the academy not only refused to do anything about it, but they actively COVERED IT UP to avoid backlash from the public.
Hifumi: When he tried to confront the academy about it, he was swiftly...beaten to the curb. It was here that whatever self-confidence he once had left his body entirely. He wasn't even HUMAN in the eyes of his heroes, just a money-bank! At least...that's what he thought.
Uchui: Truth be told, Hajime had caught the interest of some...suspicious individuals working on an experiment with the Steering Committee...This was the Hope Cultivation Plan, otherwise known as the Izuru Kamukura Project.
Leona: With this being the last straw, Hajime signed up for the project, where he, a young skinny kid, received superpowers to become CAPTAIN AMERICAAAA-This is the wrong script, isn't it?
Hifumi: Well, it DOES share some similarities, but the actual outcome could not have been more drastically different. This is the part you should explain Mr Porosen, assuming you're alright with it...
Uchui: It's perfectly fine. It's why I came on the show today after all...Ahem...Truth be told, the original plan for the Izuru Kamukura Project was proposed by Ryuichi Kamukura, a descendent of Izuru Kamukura; the original founder of Hope's Peak...He's also...my Father...
Leona: If you think that's a yowch, it'll hurt more to know that in spite of Izuru reportedly being a rather humble man, his descendants were anything BUT! The family is basically the Danganronpa equivalent of Umbrella Corp. reputed for their secretly evil and ruthless nature, sacrificing anyone and anything in their quest to achieve perfection. The only exception, and the only one of them who actually had a fucking conscience, was Uchui here.
Uchui: And the Hope Cultivation Plan was supposed to be my father's pièce de résistance. The purpose of the experiment that my father designed, oversaw, and received funding for from The Steering Committee, was to produce artificial hope in talentless students and create the "Ultimate Hope," a student possessing every talent Hope's Peak Academy has ever studied. In actuality, my father implanted pieces of artificial talents into me, making me a test subject who first demonstrated that it was possible. Hope's Peak was sought after by him because he believed that high school age was the ideal age, since I was still a child and my body was not suitable for it. B-But this isn't about me! Since Hajime on the other hand, they deemed was the perfect candidate.
Hifumi: As you may have surmised, in order to accomplish this goal, immoralities such as human experimentation were needed. For this reason, the Steering Committee concealed the project from everyone, including Principal Jin Kirigiri and the other Hope's Peak Faculty members. As a matter of fact, the Kamukura Project was primarily funded by the Reserve Course, with the majority of students' tuition fees going toward it, and the project had enough money to start the human testing phase before the freshman year of Class 77-B.
Uchui: And for better or worse, the experiment was a SUCCESS! Hajime took this offer because he was so desperate for talent, and in the end he acquired every talent known to man. And so the "Ultimate Hope" came into being—the one and only human being who is flawless and whose abundance of gifts is intended to give others hope.
Tumblr media
Leona: Great! So now he can basically do everything! And it's not just a matter of being as great as every Ultimate Student! Hajime actually EXCEEDS all of them in their latent abilities by a MILE!
Uchui: Ultimate Hope is the most powerful talent that our universe has ever known from how it culminates every ability. It includes the powers of Ultimate Analyst, Ultimate Clairvoyant, Ultimate Imposter, Ultimate Lucky Student, Ultimate Martial Artist, Ultimate Secret Agent, Ultimate Soldier, Ultimate Assassin, Ultimate Neurologist, Ultimate Detective, Ultimate Team Manager, Ultimate Gymnast, Ultimate Photographer, Ultimate Cook, Ultimate Animator, Ultimate Programmer, Ultimate Mechanic, Ultimate Musician, Ultimate Pharmacist, Ultimate Gambler, Ultimate Confectioner, Ultimate Blacksmith, Ultimate Pyrotechnician, Ultimate Nurse, Ultimate-
Leona: Stop! STOP! STOOOP! Are you seriously listing EVERYTHING!?
Uchui: Uh...yeah? Is that not the idea?
Leona: We will literally be here FOREVER if you list of EVERY skill he has, you nerd!
Uchui: Oh...I...Sorry...I got a bit carried away there...As dastardly as the circumstances are, I cannot help but marvel at the results.
Hifumi: Well, we DO have to at least explain SOME of them, otherwise our audience won't have much to work with. Why don't we go over the one's that are most notable and important; i.e. the one's that would help him in combat? Then we can elaborate on them and explain feats.
Uchui: Oh, I see! Well in that case, let's start with some basic combative talents like Ultimate Soldier. Because of his talents, Hajime is above superhuman in terms of physical strength, reflexes, and speed. This gives him Mukuro Ikusaba's talent, but to a much larger extent, so he should be able to accomplish all of her achievements and feats as well. Speaking of Ms. Ikusaba, he actually launched her with a backhand move not long after he unlocked his abilities. He can effortlessly dodge bullets like her too.
Leona: That's right! Remember that super badass and almost unbeatable Ultimate Soldier that has incredible instincts that we talked about in Round 2? Hajime was standing RIGHT in front of her, hit her with an attack that she DIDN'T SEE COMING, and ONE-SHOT HER! Holy shit! Where was your Ultra Instinct THAT time Mukuro!?
Hifumi: Speaking of strong characters and matching feats, Mr. Hinata is knowledgeable about and skilled in every martial art, just like Mrs. Sakura Ogami, and he is swift and strong enough to defeat the Monokuma that Junko Enoshima was using in the first Killing Game, whereas SHE could match it.
Leona: With his talents, Hajime should realistically be able to do everything the likes that Genocide Jill, Akane Owari and Nekomaru Nidai; other powerful characters in the series, some of which we've already gone over!
Hifumi: Remember how, without using any climbing equipment, Ms. Owari climbed the Hope's Peak building with ease, detected the smell of cooking meat while on the roof, and survived the fall from the roof to the ground? He can do that too!
Uchui: Remember how Genocide Jill used a pair of scissors to cut through robots the size of small houses, leaped from the ground to a monorail several stories above, shattered glass windows without a running start, cut through a steel door, and deflected blows from a robot the size of a skyscraper? He can do that too!
Leona: Remember how Nekomaru took a shit so hard that it carved a hole through a forest and screamed so hard that he generated three explosions the size of Hope's Peak Academy? He can do that too!
Uchui: Uuuuh...Yes! Yes he can! As much as I loathe to be reminded of that...!
Hifumi: As with Ms. Komaru Naegi, who we've already mentioned has an excellent eye and accuracy, Mr. Hinata also possesses marksman abilities and ought to be the world's greatest marksman. More importantly, he should outclass Kiyoka Maki, the ACTUAL Ultimate Marksman, in terms of dexterity and proficiency with a gun.
Leona: But of course, there's more to fight than just being able to move and punch super fast and hard. You also have to consider skill, tactics, and of course, bullshit. And BOY does he have some BULL-SHIT!
Hifumi: Ironically what may be Izuru's two most useful abilities originally come from less-than-desirable people. His eventual arch-enemy, Junko Enoshima, and his arch-rival, Nagito Komaeda. These talents of course being Ultimate Analytical Prowess and Ultimate Lucky Student respectively.
Uchui: Hajime's analytical abilities are nearly unopposed, much like Junko's, possessing a startlingly high degree of accuracy and speed in his prediction abilities. Additionally, he has the ability to read people the moment he meets them. He also has the talent Ultimate Lie Detector and has stated himself that he can detect dishonesty in others, which renders any attempt to deceive him futile.
Hifumi: Furthermore, he's demonstrated an overabundance of good fortune with the Ultimate Lucky Student talent, to the extent that it can rival that of Nagito Komaeda. He is among the very few individuals who are shielded from Komaeda's extreme bad luck as a result. The best example of this is when Komaeda pointed a gun at Enoshima not long after their first meeting. When he attempts to fire the at the Ultimate Hope, Mr. Hinata's good fortune overrides Komaeda's, causing the gun to jam.
Leona: Ok, but...wait a second...I think I get how this hypothetically COULD be possible. I mean, for performance enhancing and combat powers, you can fiddle with his brain, fuck with his genes or mess with his muscles and skeletal structure. I GET that. But how in the ever-loving fuck do you gift somebody LUCK!? Luck isn't a substance! It's an immaterial thing that has no conclusive sway, so...how is he able to do this?
Uchui: Good question! NEXT QUESTION...!
Leona: Um...alrighty then! So, at the end of the day, Hajime got his wish and then some! He had gone from being a nobody to being the icon that Hope's Peak's morals were grounded on! A symbol of Hope for the future of all mankind! And he was loving every second of it!
Uchui: I'm sure he would...if he had been around to see it...
Leona: I really need to stop jinxing myself...Ok, what happened this time?
Hifumi: Truth be told, a lot of the feats that we've just listed were, technically, not achieved by Mr. Hinata himself. As it turns out, the Steering Committee and the Cultivation Team, as they did VERY OFTEN, DECIEVED Mr. Hinata. In addition to being endowed with an abundance of abilities and boundless potential for greatness, he was also lobotomized in order to eliminate any memories, personality, or other emotional functions that might have impeded the development of talent. Not that they told HIM that.
Leona: Those dirty...FUCKING...BASTARDS!
Uchui: Quite right. Hajime was used as a lab rat by the very people he spent his whole life looking up to, who took advantage of his talent and feelings of admiration for hope. They eliminated every sense, feeling, thought, and pastime that would have impeded the development of talent. His memories of the past, including those of his best friend Chiaki, were all pushed deep into the back of his mind by force. The academy changed Hajime into an entirely different person whose specialty is talent itself by directly interfering with his brain. He was supposed to be the result of all the research done by the faculty at Hope's Peak Academy, a genius among geniuses with a variety of skills. He became an empty shell of a human stuffed with nothing but talent...He became...Izuru Kamukura...!
Leona: He became your granddad?
Uchui: No, he was named after my granddad, silly! Ryuichi wanted to make sure that our "family legacy" was recognized as such, so he and the Hope's Peak Steering Committee named him after the academy founder.
Leona: Ugh this is all...so fucked! How can this get any worse?
Hifumi: Well, three words...Junko...! Fucking...! Enoshima...!
Leona: UUUUUUUUUGH GAAAWWWD! What did she do THIS time!?
Uchui: At first, it seemed as though she was trying to kill him because he was the Ultimate Hope, but Junko's true goal was to attack him knowing she couldn't win in order to demonstrate Despair's unpredictable nature, peaking what little curiosity Izuru had. By forcing him to witness the student council members' mutual murder and many other forms of humanity at their worst, Junko coerced Izuru into leading the Remnants of Despair—a group made up of Chiaki's brainwashed classmates—and causing the Tragedy. Izuru changed his title from "Ultimate Hope" to "Ultimate Despair" after siding with Despair and leading to the total destruction of Hope's Peak and the world.
Leona: On the one hand...this guy is one of the main reasons why the Tragedy happened...But on the other, SWEET TASTY KARMA for the fuckboys at Hope's Peak! It's so REFRESHING MMM!
Hifumi: That's...weirdly psychotic of you...But I suppose it makes sense?
Leona: Ok, but to be fair, putting my lust for vengeance aside, this doesn't sound great...The Ultimate Hope is evil and Hajime is dead! ...OR IS HE!? Later on down the line, Izuru Kamukura got confronted by the Future Foundation and he and his cronies in the Remnants of Despair were placed in the Neo World Program, a program designed to undo Junko's brainwashing after her death.
Hifumi: Following Izuru's entry into the Neo World Program, Hajime's memories were recovered and his former personality was recreated using historical data, essentially resurrecting Hajime from his near-total erasure.
Leona: Awesome! Hajime's alive again, he and his friends are getting...questionable therapy, Junko's dead and everything's back to normal! ...I just did it again, didn't I?
Hifumi: It turns out that Izuru predicted in advance, likely using his analyst and clairvoyance talents, that the Future Foundation would attempt to go this route. He even knew in advance that Hajime would be brought back through these means. However, following Junko's passing, Kamukura devised a scheme to use the Neo World Program to enable Alter Ego Junko to take control of their bodies, with the help of the other Remnants of Despair. Junko's AI infiltrated the program and kickstarted the Jabberwock Island Killing Game!
Leona: Oh GREAAAAT! How the hell does the Future Foundation even contend with that!? The most powerful, intelligent and unstoppable person completely destroyed their master plan, and now nothing is going to stop them! ...Did I just jinx it again?
Uchui: In a positive spin this time, yes! It turns out that in spite of being responsible for Junko's presence in the program, Izuru's intentions DIDN'T align with hers. At least...not completely...
Leona: How so?
Uchui: Well, one interesting thing that many people forget about Izuru Kamukura is that in spite of his unmatched prowess of predictions and insight, he doesn't know EVERYTHING. In fact, Junko was actually able to surprise him by showing him the unpredictability of Despair during the slaughter of the student council. Izuru almost got shot in the face and didn't see it coming due to Despair's unpredictability. However, at the same time, he found out that Hope could be equally as unpredictable...When Junko masterminded the death of Chiaki Nanami, Hajime's best friend, and the main catalyst in brainwashing her classmates.
Leona: Aw, she died!? How could they be so...*sniff*...HEARTLESS!?
Hifumi: That's Junko Enoshima for you...But the real surprise was that when Izuru witnessed Chiaki's final moments...he cried. Something that he never expected he could feel. And it was here that Izuru really figured out what needed to happen. What he needed to do.
Uchui: Ultimately unable to make up his mind between Hope and Despair, he had chosen to sit back and watch the other members of Ultimate Despair. This was to determine if it would be in his best interest to pursue Junko's Despair or Chiaki's Hope. His personal objective, which even Junko was unaware of, was to watch the conflict between hopelessness and optimism and ultimately decide which side to support by uploading the AI into the program and seeing how things played out. To which Hajime found his hope again through Chiaki's AI counterpart, and was able to retake control of his mind, body, and very being.
Leona: And...he ACTUALLY came back this time, right? Like ACTUALLY? I don't want to jinx it again.
Uchui: Yep, he came back as himself finally. However, even though Hajime returned, Izuru didn't exactly leave. It turns out that Izuru and Hajime's identities merged into one by the time they arrived to save the Future Foundation with the revived Remnants following the Final Killing Game, as he recalled his memories before the project. Additionally, Izuru continued to exist in Hajime's mind for a while as a ghostly illusion, resembling a second personality that lurked in the shadows.
Leona: But Hajime still came back, and he got to live a happy life fighting for the future he believed in with his friends on Jabberwock Island; and he lived out his days in peace...
Uchui: At least until he almost died and Izuru automatically took over his body again...
Leona: OH COME ON!
Tumblr media
Hifumi: We will likely be here forever if we break down everything Mr. Hinata has accomplished or what he's been through, but we should definitely get to breaking down feats and general stats as we always do.
Uchui: We've already kind of broken down some powers and the things that Hajime is capable of, but let's talk about some feats. Let's start with general strength.
Leona: Hajizuru is stronger, faster, tougher and smarter than every other Danganronpa character, including people who can fight skyscraper sized robots, dodge machine gun bullets, elbow drop the floor to make it collapse and survive the fall with no injuries, hold onto a vehicle moving at escape velocity, survive a barrage of missile hitting them with no damage and survive the roof of a building falling on them with no permanent damage. That's pretty neat!
Uchui: Now might be a good time to mention that Hajime is actually one of three people (not including Makoto Naegi because his is different) that holds the title Ultimate Hope, and is the first of three who have received these powers; though the other two did so through Organization Zetsubou's Hope Serum, a concoction that gives them a pseudo-powerful version of Hajime's overpowered abilities. These two are Ayumu Fujimori, a young man in a similar shitty situation to a young Hajime, who he sensed a kindred spirit in, and Nagito Komaeda, Hajime's long running arch-rival, who gained the powers to be on equal footing with him...Which turned out to not have been the case at all.
Hifumi: During his fight with both Ultimate Hope's, Mr. Hinata seemed to be even with them, but as it turns out, once Kamukura took control of his body again, he revealed that Mr. Hinata had been holding back...MASSIVELY. And the following beatdown on Komaeda, he proved this.
Leona: Starting with Ayumu, even though he only had his powers for a few days, after being forced to watch Komaeda kill his closest companion...yeah things are really awkward between these three like that...purely out of rage, he let out a huge burst of energy that levelled a small town! So how does Hajime scale to that? Surprise! Turns out he's a NUKE waiting to happen!
Hifumi: To be more specific, after his fight with Komaeda in the city of Kyoto, when Kamukura took over, Chiaki Nanami stated that Izuru's natural potency has the potential to level ALL OF KYOTO, resulting in the destruction of many homes and facilities, and the potential deaths of tens of thousands. If we take this literally, it puts Mr. Hinata's natural power on the same level, if not slightly higher, as the Little Boy bomb that destroyed Hiroshima. That's about 15 Kilotons of TNT by the way.
Uchui: And he can recreate this explosion just...letting out all the power that's inside him! He doesn't even need to MOVE to do that! In that same fight against Nagito, his opponent tossed the top half of a skyscraper at him...And Izuru responded by COMPLETELY OBLITERATING the projectile and grinding it to dust...by simply FLICKING A PEBBLE AT IT. And in reality, we KNOW that Izuru is FAR stronger than this! He FAR surpasses some of the strongest feats of strength in Danganronpa, and right now, the most powerful calculable feat of strength Big Bang Monokuma's head being rocketed up so high, it blasted a hole through the clouds. This was briefly discussed in Komaru's episode, but scaling Hajime to that, it would increase his attack potency from 15 Kilotons to AT LEAST 173 Kilotons of TNT.
Hifumi: But by far his most potent feat is his latest and greatest. In the middle of a standoff with Matta Gyalusetsu, Izuru Kamukura, for the first time in his life, got MAD, and with it, kind of serious. And he pounded the ground so hard with his foot, that it sent a TREMOR ACROSS ALL OF JAPAN.
Uchui: With our current scaling, that bumps Izuru's raw strength aaaallll the way up! To absolutely IMPOSSIBLE levels at that!
Leona: Now I know what you're thinking. Something like that shouldn't be possible, right? And you're right! Anyway, aside from that, he also defeated a fleet of approximately 41 ships from the Future Foundation seemingly single-handedly, and then later in the same day took down 5 elite Future Foundation personnel single-handedly, apparently by himself and without sustaining any damage.
Hifumi: He is far superior to people like Sakura Ogami, Nekomaru Nidai, and Mukuro Ikusaba—whose destructive potential we have already spoken about at length—as the Ultimate Hope. Furthermore, Kamukura gave incredibly sloppy performances with little to no purpose for each of his shows of power. However, Mr. Hinata DOES possess that drive, so just think of the incredible feats of strength HE could accomplish with that ability!
Uchui: Hajime would have the ability to defeat armies and bring about the end of the world on his own if he didn't restrict himself to make sure he doesn't unintentionally cause wanton destruction or overwhelm his peers with his sheer power and talent.
Leona: But strength isn't everything. Let's talk speed!
Uchui: As we previously discussed, Hajime is significantly faster than Mukuro and was able to overwhelm her in their first meeting. In addition, he has avoided blasts from the FF Hacking Gun in the past and has managed to avoid a bullet that he was only just able to see coming, demonstrating that he is at least faster than light.
Hifumi: We can't exactly lock down an exact unit of Mr. Hinata's speed, but we know that it at least has to be above relativistic. Scaling him with his allies and creatures of his own caliber like the Monokuma's, we know he at least has to be Mach 23. However, we know that this is even higher, because Izuru has, on multiple occasions, moved so fast that it appears time is not moving around him, like he did when he shot Komaeda after their first meeting. This results in a speed that is just straight up incalculable, so we can only make estimations.
Leona: And, just for good measure, he possesses literally every talent known to man; and there are many talents that necessitate peak human reflexes and reaction time, as well as other brain-to-body reactions and coordination.
Uchui: Defense and durability is even harder to calculate, but he's been thrown through buildings and tossed around like a ragdoll with barely any scratches or signs of fatigue. But the BIG calculation that we can scale him to is the time that Akira Tsuchiya dropped an FF satellite on Jabberwock Island and completely DESTROYED it. Of which, Hajime was basically at the epicenter of.
Leona: Holy shit, WHAT!?
Hifumi: We don't know for sure just how big or how wide Jabberwock Island is, but assuming we take a look at the zoomed out map and scale 1 pixel to about...1 mile. That would make Jabberwock Island's full scale 828 miles wide and 408 miles tall, giving it a total area of 337,824 miles squared. And if we assume that the satellite is roughly medium sized, as it is depicted in the image of the chapter, that would put it's mass at about 2500kg maximum. Quantifiably, that would make the Jabberwock Island explosion tantamount to...21 Kilotons of TNT!
Leona: Holy...Fucking...Shit...
Uchui: This is all VERY subjective though. Without knowing the actual size of Jabberwock Island, force of the explosion, or what Hajime actually did to shield himself from the blast, since like I said, he can move faster than time permits, which would give him plenty of time to get to safety, we can't definitely say that this is his ACTUAL defensive ability. Hajime usually resorts to dodging attacks instead of tanking them, and even in situations where his speed and defensive talents don't work out, he can always fall back on his luck, which again, outlucks even Nagito Komaeda's.
Leona: But it is an INDESPUTABLE FACT that Hajime was ON THE ISLAND when it blew up. Besides, 21 Kilotons scales well with his Little Boy output equivalent. Really makes me wonder how someone this overpowered could ever hope to lose?
Hifumi: Well, it's not like Mr. Hinata doesn't have his limits. Though more motivated than Kamukura, he rarely ever has to push himself when it comes to fights, so when he DOES get caught of guard, he gets caught off-guard BADLY. Like he did against Fujimori and Komaeda when he first found out about their powers.
Leona: I guess in that regard, Hajime's greatest weakness may be his power itself. Not only does he have a shitload of baggage to carry as a result of his powers, but because almost nothing can threaten him, he is frequently vulnerable to being caught off guard and lacks a surefire solution to any opponents who may be stronger than him. But even so, can you BLAME him!? With his superhuman abilities and talents combined with his sheer prediction ability and intellect? How could you NOT get a little cocky like that.
Hifumi: I wouldn't say "cocky" Actually, in spite of how he's factually better than everyone, Mr.  Hinata has a tendency to hold back so that others can take the spotlight over him. In that regard, I don't think there's anyone more humble?
Uchui: That's why he's the Ultimate Hope. There is no title greater for someone like Hajime Hinata.
Tumblr media
Leona: You know, sometimes I really do think we're living out a sci-fi drama every day of our lives guys. And it makes me laugh because I think the world of My Hero Academia is pretty normal by comparison.
Uchui: You probably don't realize how much you're exaggerating. The world of My Hero Academia, or Boku No Hero Academia (if you're annoying) is anything from normal, since 80% of humanity have developed supernatural abilities known as "Quirks".
Hifumi: Formerly known as meta-abilities, Quirks are decided and gained by a person's genetic makeup, giving them superhuman abilities. They aren't just specific to each user either; they fall into several categories as well. Additionally, Quirk users can typically only develop one ability; as a result, they cannot naturally acquire any other powers besides the one they're born with.
Leona: And Heroes are people who have been granted permission to use their special abilities to defend the public against Villains who use their powers for evil, natural disasters, and other threats. Heroes are people who make their profession out of being heroic; the World Heroes Association overseeing all hero activity worldwide. That's right! Being a superhero is literally a way to make a living here!
Uchui: And it's because of the revolution of Quirks and the industry of heroes that places like U.A. High School, and many other schools like it, popped up.
Hifumi: U.A. is regarded as Japan's best Hero Academy and is the top-ranked high school for heroics. Its teachers are free to conduct their classes in any way they see fit, and it does not follow conventional school procedures. In fact, All Might, the world's greatest pro hero, widely known as the Symbol of Peace, is just one of the many heroes that U.A. is known for having trained and produced.
Uchui: With his dramatic flair and charismatic smile, All Might naturally gained many fans who wanted to grow up to be like him one day: A hero who's presence could bring smiles to even the most tragic situations. One of those fans, arguably his all time biggest...Was Izuku Midoriya, AKA: Deku.
Tumblr media
Leona: "Deku", by the way, is a pun on the Japanese word "Dekunobou", which means "good for nothing". A nickname "lovingly" given to him by his "best friend since childhood" Katsuki Bakugou.
Hifumi: And while not very nice, made sense as a nickname. Midoriya was originally born as one of the 20% of the population who did not possess a quirk, in spite of his parents both having one of their own. Because of this, he was initially tormented and bullied throughout much of his younger life.
Uchui: It struck particularly hard because Deku was such a huge fan of All Might and aspired to be just like him. Imagine being told that you are utterly incapable of becoming like your idol by almost everyone, including your own family, because you were born with a certain birth defect. I've been there, and trust me, that shit stings.
Leona: In spite of being a basic bitch, Deku didn't want to give up on his dreams. Even after that bitch Bakugou told him to swan dive off the school building's roof, Deku continued to reflect upon how he had come to his aspirations in the first place...WHOOPS, SLIME VILLAIN ATTACK WATCH OUT!
Uchui: While Deku very nearly lost his life, it all worked out in the end when he was saved from the slime villain by none other than All Might himself. Izuku asked if he could become a hero without having his own quirk when he had the opportunity to speak with him. All Might, however, went on to tell Deku that experts had to risk everything to save the day, so they couldn't honestly state whether or not a hero could exist without a quirk.
Leona: Damn...Even his idol is telling him to give up on his dreams...This kid's life sucks ass!
Hifumi: But the tides can change very quickly, and in this case the winds blew the other direction. Deku was thinking about giving up on his goals while strolling home when he approached the location of a villain attack. His body moved on its own when he realized Bakugou was the victim, possessed by the same villain who had attacked him earlier. Having looked at his old friend's pleading eyes, Deku rushed towards the villain, attempting to save Bakugou despite being Quirkless. Inspired by the boy's action, All Might appeared and stopped the Sludge Villain before he could harm Deku.
Leona: This was where the life of the Quirkless wimp that was Izuku Midoriya did a full 180. As it turns out, All Might's body was slowly decaying as a result of a grievous injury he suffered at the hands of his arch-nemesis, All Might needed someone that he could pass his legacy onto. Someone who could become the new Symbol of Peace after his time was up.
Hifumi: Moreover, All Might desired no ordinary person. There were a lot of people looking for fame and wealth in the hero world. To save someone, All Might desired a person whose body moved on its own. He chose to take on young Midoriya as a pupil after realizing that he possessed those qualities.
Leona: And surprise surprise, his legacy wasn't the only thing he was passing on. He ALSO gifted Deku his QUIRK. Wait, but I thought Quirks were genetic. How did All Might pass his quirk on? What's the story behind that?
Uchui: A long time ago, a villain by the name of All For One, a man with the ability to transfer other people's quirks to himself, forced his younger brother Youichi Shigaraki, who didn't seem to have any quirks at all, to have one; a Quirk that allowed him to accumulate power inside his body and increase his strength. But neither of them realized that Yoichi already possessed a Quirk; one where it's only ability was that it could be transferred to another individual through his DNA. A new, all-powerful Quirk was created when the transference quirk and the power stockpiling quirk united...The almighty One For All.
Hifumi: All Might himself was actually the 8th user of One For All, inheriting the power from his mentor, Nana Shimura. And once All Might transferred his power over, Deku became the 9th. Deku eventually enrolled in his dream school, UA High, and joined Class 1-A, the same as his now rival, Bakugou, thanks to All Might's support and extensive training. Along the way, he made some friends and partners for life, including Ochako Uraraka, Tsuyu Asui, and Tenya Iida.
Uchui: It feels good to see Izuku get this opportunity to fulfill his dream of becoming a hero after he was denied it for a full 14 years. It really makes you want to support him, doesn't it?
Leona: Yeah, for real! And when time came to establish his own mark as a hero, he turned the name Deku, a title that had only ever been used to make fun of him, into his own Hero name. Turns out "Deku" can ALSO be an abbreviation for "Dekiru", someone who can do anything. Ironic, right?
Hifumi: It's not all sunshine and rainbows of course. You have to be prepared to face off against a wide range of thugs and villains in order to be a hero. Some of these bad guys are capable of shattering buildings like they're made of twigs! Thankfully, it appears that Deku has far more potential with One For All than even All Might initially realized.
Tumblr media
Uchui: All For One is unquestionably one of the most powerful quirks in the world of MHA, which is what allowed All Might to gain the prestige that he has. Deku was given the ability to control a vast reservoir of potent energy when he inherited it, and can stockpile that energy to gain  momentary superhuman strength at destructive levels, increased agility, increased hearing, and superhuman speed. In fact, when he first used this quirk, he was able to move faster than the human eye and defeat a massive villain bot with a single blow. However, One For All has a VERY notable drawback with it's use.
Leona: It FUCKING HURTS!
Hifumi: "Hurts" doesn't even BEGIN to describe it. A new user's body is not as naturally adapted to One For All's transfer as it would be if they had a Quirk from birth. For instance, it would be ineffective if a fire-breathing person burned their mouth while using their power.
Leona: In addition, One For All is a lot to handle. If your body can't take the power, then you might as well kiss it goodbye! It's because of this, the successor must undergo intense and rigorous physical training to hone their body to make room for the quirk, which is why Deku had to buff himself up and go from lad to chad, just so he could contain it.
Uchui: Even then, it takes time for the new user to get used to One For All and figure out how to use it properly. It took Izuku ten months to prepare for the entrance exam of U.A. High, and, despite training his body to be a suitable vessel for the quirk, going anywhere above 20% of his max power can cause the recoil of his punch to shatter all the bones in his arm. The physical backlash at the time prevented Izuku from being able to fight properly or compete with his peers on an even playing field, and it even caused irreparable damage to his arms and hands. Of course, as things stand now, he's gotten leagues stronger and can handle the quirk more, but the weakness is evidently still there, since it happened to All Might at one point too.
Hifumi: The GOOD news is that Izuku happens to be VERY intelligent and observant.
Leona: Yuh-huh! Deku's greatest asset prior to receiving his quirk was his vast knowledge of fundamental hero skills and tactics. He's been a Pro Hero nerd for years and is able to apply that knowledge during crisis situations in a practical manner. He even has a notebook studying people's quirks!
Uchui: Thus, even with One For All's severe disadvantages, Izuku's cunning gives him ways to wield his power that are still useful in combat. He also has some basic knowledge of hand-to-hand combat and can still act instinctively based on his notes. Deku can even compete head-to-head with Katsuki Bakugou and Shoto Todoroki, two of Class 1-A's strongest students, by using those skills appropriately.
Leona: And one of the big ways he's learned to counter the weaknesses of his quirk is by using his big brain to develop new fighting styles and upgrades to his equipment. For example...Full Cowl!
Hifumi: Midoriya gained better control over his Quirk and was able to unlock this stage of his power thanks to his training with Gran Torino, one of All Might's old mentors. By allowing the power to flow through him rather than concentrate in one place, Midoriya is able to use a portion of the full power of One For All throughout his body.
Uchui: He gains incredible strength, speed, mobility, and agility when he uses this technique. Additionally, when he attacks, it keeps his bones from breaking. However, by dispersing the power throughout his body rather than concentrating it in one spot, Izuku spreads the power throughout his body, which lowers the damage of his attacks. This let's him use powerful punches like his signature Detroit Smash, and can even attack with pressurized air with his  Delaware Smash.
Leona: And yes, they're all named after American States. At this point in time, Deku is capable of bringing out about 30% of his maximum potential, 45% if he really wants to push it, without utterly destroying his body. Even then, 30% was combined with Melissa Shield's Full Gauntlet, which negated any disadvantages of using One For All at higher percentages. As a result, it is unknown how this state affects Deku's body under normal circumstances. Deku was able to easily blow away security bots with vast amounts of wind pressure created by the punch with 30%. Of course, if his back is against the wall, he can still access 100% of his power at the risk of breaking whichever body part he attacks with.
Hifumi: When Midoriya reaches his maximum power, he can perform the 1,000,000% Delaware Detroit Smash, the strongest smash move in his repertoire. This move entails him using all of his energy to activate One For All at 100% before unleashing a full-swing attack on his opponent. Midoriya executes the move by first landing a full-handed Delaware Smash before unleashing a devastating Detroit Smash. In the pivotal moment of his fight with Muscular, he defeated the Villain by punching and propelling his enhanced opponent with enough force to leave an impact crater in solid rock with a single blow.
Leona: Furthermore, he possesses the renowned "United States Of The World Smash!" Izuku's rendition of All Might's "United States of Smash." Izuku starts this Ultimate Move by using Full Cowl at 100% to increase his power levels. Then, he launches a forceful barrage of punches. Subsequently, he maneuvers around his adversary, gaining speed and intensifying his lunge prior to unleashing a devastating kick. Originally, this was used to defeat Flect Turn.
Leona: Wait, we're counting the movies here!?
Uchui: Hell yeah we are! I mean, since we're counting Survivor, it's only fair we introduce Deku at his peak, right? Anyway, though Full Cowl was pretty revolutionary in terms of helping Deku grow with his quirk, it wasn't gonna be enough. Thanks to All Might's advice, Deku realized that he was trying too hard to imitate his hero, and so Full Cowl eventually evolved into a unique fighting style that Deku gained with the help of his friend Iida...Full Cowl SHOOT STYLE!
Leona: Because if punching with his arms was getting to be too much, why not just punch with your legs instead!?
Hifumi: Um...I'm fairly certain that is what we call..."kicking?
Leona: Hmph! I'm just quoting the show...
Uchui: Human leg muscles are inherently stronger than human arm muscles, and the Shoot Style fighting style takes advantage of this by emphasizing kicks. Izuku gains much more power and stability by focusing One for All: Full Cowl's effects on his torso and legs as opposed to his arms. Greatly aided by the distinctive Iron Soles that became a part of his outfit.
Hifumi: Originally designed by Mei Hatsume, Deku's Iron Armor Soles are fastened to his iconic red shoes. The impact strength of his kicks is increased when he kicks something because his soles absorb the impact and re-distribute the kinetic energy.
Leona: Speaking of gear and best girl, she also invented Deku's Air Force Gloves, another vital tool on his hero costume. Remember how Uchui dropped that little tidbit of Deku being able to fire pressurized air by flicking his fingers? These gloves allow him to focus, build up and aim these pressurized bursts to deal devastating ranged attacks! Still though...
Hifumi: What?
Leona: I bet what a lot of people are thinking now is that in spite of it's sheer power, One For All seems a little bit of a one-trick pony, right? I mean, sure, it's strong, and he can break shit down with it, and launching bursts of air is cool and all, but...
Uchui: Well, prepare to be surprised. Remember how Hifumi said earlier that there's more potential in Deku than even All Might predicted? Well, it all started during a training match with Class 1-B, 1-A's rivals, when Deku's quirk went berserk, and started shooting black tendrils everywhere!
Leona: Black tendrils? What kind of power is that?
Uchui: As a matter of fact, it's a different quirk known as Blackwhip, which was originally possessed by Daigoro Banjo, the fifth user of One For All. With this quirk, the user can shoot dark energy tendrils that help with grappling from a distance and improve mobility. Izuku can use it to create incredibly powerful and long energy tendrils that he can use to tie up opponents and swing around the city, like Spider-Man, or, like Tsuyu, shoot one out of his mouth.
Leona: So he just straight up got ANOTHER quirk!? So he has two now!?
Hifumi: Actually, he has ALL of the previous users Quirks. Because One For All accumulates power, the Quirk Factors of all of its former users combined with its core have grown stronger over time. Even All Might was unaware of this, and Deku became the first person to be able to access the Quirks of earlier users.
Uchui: He has even more options in combat because he can utilize multiple of these integrated quirks at once. In addition to Blackwhip, there's Float, Gearshift, Fa Jin, Danger Sense, and Smokescreen.
Hifumi: Let's dissect these. The seventh user and All Might's late mentor, Nana Shimura, granted him the quirk Float. Due to this quirk, Midoriya is able to take flight and suspend himself in midair.
Uchui: The second user, Kudo's quirk is Gearshift. Izuku can alter the velocity and/or speed of any object he touches, including himself, thanks to this quirk. This enables him to significantly increase the impact force of his own blows and accelerate both his own and his target's velocities. Gearshift is now so strong that Deku only ever uses it as a last resort due to its unusual nature, which has developed over the years from being empowered within One For All.
Leona: Danger Sense is...It's literally Spider-Sense! It originally belonged to the fourth user, Hikage Shinomori, and it basically sends a sharp tingle through his head whenever he's about to be attacked. What, was Spider-Man one of the OFA users? I feel like Horikoshi might just be plucking powers from the web-slinger.
Hifumi: Not that outlandish. Kohei Horikoshi, My Hero's Mangaka, is famously a very big fan of Spider-Man. Deku's character writing is actually primarily based on Peter Parker himself. Even Blackwhip bares similarities to Spider-Man's web swinging.
Uchui: Bruce, the third user, gifts the Quirk Fa Jin. This Quirk enables Deku to accumulate and store kinetic energy through repetitive movement. He can then unleash this stored energy in the form of an explosive burst of speed and power. Combined with his other quirks, this can yield some deadly results.
Hifumi: Lastly, Smokescreen, the sixth user En's Quirk, is quite simple. This Quirk enables Deku to emit a dense cloud of purple smoke from his body. This smoke can cover a large area and impair people's vision.
Leona: And these quirks, once he mastered them at least, gave Deku WAY more combat options, and a new handful of Ultimate moves at his disposal! Like...OVERDURIVUUUU!
Hifumi: We already HAD the JoJo episode!
Uchui: This is obviously not some Hamon ability. Using Overdrive, Deku applies Gearshift and Fa Jin to himself, enhancing his strength and speed to overtake adversaries and launch devastating blows at them. In fact, the force he unleashes is characterized like One For All at 120%.
Leona: Talk about going Plus Ultra!
Uchui: He also possesses moves like Blackchain, which is a combination of Blackwhip and Fa Jin that launches and ensnares opponents far into the air. Additionally, there is Transmission, in which he charges at his opponent and hits them multiple times, increasing Gearshift's speed with each strike.
Leona: With all these powers at his disposal, Deku really had what it took to become Number 1 and carry on his retired mentor's legacy, and with him now on the field fighting villains, the world was a much safer place because of it...Is what I WOULD be saying, but I'm not about to jinx it again.
Hifumi: The truth is that All Might was not the only person who was passing his legacy onto a protégé. All For One was secretly doing the same thing to Nana Shimura's secret grandchild, Tenko.
Leona: Tenko?
Hifumi: Not THAT Tenko! Taking on the name Tomura Shigaraki, he rose to prominence as the head of the League of Villains, and the Paranormal Liberation Front, with the ultimate objective of emerging as Japan's most formidable villain and obliterating any obstacle in his path.
Uchui: In many ways, Shigaraki's story parodied Deku's own. Both of them relied too much on their teachers at the beginning of their stories and lacked a clear conviction or path to their objectives. However, through One For All and All For One, they both acquired numerous powers and developed into each other's greatest adversaries as heroes and villains respectively.
Leona: But shit really hit the fan when they first unleashed these powers in a war that resulted in a lot of death, and hero society itself to fall apart at the seams. It became clear to Deku that even though All Might had only ever shown him love and encouragement, he was always under an unbearably intense amount of pressure. Especially since Shigaraki could track him and know his every move.
Hifumi: Midoriya became more aloof and cold toward people as a result of the trauma he had endured from the war, witnessing innumerable innocent people have their lives destroyed by the now broken status quo of Hero Society, having All For One and Shigaraki constantly target him because of his Quirk, and having to take on the duty of defending his friends. He grew more and more afraid of the harm he would do to people around him after All For One threatened to break him both mentally and physically, and thanks to his extreme stress and burden, he rushed into battles, leaving All Might, his classmates and the other Heroes behind so no one else would be harmed.
Leona: But...and trust me, I'm saying this from experience...running away from home leaving just a note NEVER goes down well.
Uchui: Izuki had become completely monstrous in his appearance by the time Class 1-A found him, covered in blood and filth from all the non-stop fighting he had put himself through. Thus came probably the hardest challenge he'd faced that entire night.
Hifumi: Even the classically trained bully Bakugou was determined to help his childhood friend, and his classmates weren't about to take no for an answer. They were even willing to use force to bring their friend home, but thankfully, everything turned out okay in the end.
Uchui: Izuku was able to be brought back to reality by Class 1-A, despite his best efforts to flee, and they informed him that although his decisions were sound, he was no longer able to manage things on his own. He knew that his friends would be there for him in times of need, and that the only way to defeat All Might was for everyone to work together to defend their school and the civilian population.
Leona: Friendship is magic baby!
Hifumi: We did My Little Pony already too! Stop making references to past episodes!
Tumblr media
Leona: As we often do, let's end this by breaking down a few of Midoriya's feats, starting with strength. Now going by the original DB analysis brought up a rather notable one, so let's get that out of the way first and...why it's kinda bullshit, but also pretty impressive!
Uchui: Izuku's most powerful feat is when he passed the power of One For All to Bakugou in the second movie, and they combined their powers to split an absolutely huge cloud formation above them. We can calculate their dispersion over 63 trillion kilograms of water by sizing the island and comparing it to the clouds above. That is equivalent to the mass of 12,000 Great Pyramids of Giza, meaning that each blow would have needed almost 80 Teratons of TNT. However, we'll cover that in more detail in the post-analysis. It is somewhat complicated.
Leona: The power of One For All allows Deku to take down buildings just with his punches, launch himself hundreds of meters into the air, and tank point-blank explosions. Despite being inferior to both, he managed to send a Full-Power Muscular flying with a single blow and injure the Incomplete Shigaraki's stomach with a kick.
Uchui: And when combined with his other Quirks, these can be even stronger. The combined power of his Detroit Smash Quintuple and Fa Jin results in a release of energy that is at least five times more potent than usual. Deku can increase his power even further by using Gearshift to unleash his Overdrive technique, which was strong enough to punch a hole in Shigaraki's torso, who in his complete form is way stronger than All Might in his prime.
Hifumi: Now let's talk speed. The explosive detonation velocities table indicates that Bakugou can detonate explosives at velocities of Mach 20 or more, a speed that Deku has demonstrated he can at least avoid. On top of that, he reacted to Nine's attacks—another Villain with multiple quirks—and sidestepped a laser with a higher percentage of power. In addition, he has the ability to move and respond to Lady Nagant's bullets, which have a velocity of 5884420.20 m/s.
Uchui: And again, he managed to maintain a pace with Complete Shigaraki, whose velocity is comparable to Prime All Might, who is said to be able to travel more than 200 kilometers in an instant. And with Gear Shift, he quickly and easily defeated Shigaraki before he even realized what had happened.
Leona: Durability's nothing to scoff at either. Even though the recoil of One For All tears his body apart, Deku still keeps on fighting and throwing punches even when his bones are all cracked! And he's capable of taking brutal blows from the likes of Shigaraki and Overhaul at max power, both of whom can easily level a city block on their own.
Hifumi: His extraordinary endurance has only increased as he worked to finish One For All. He has demonstrated levels of stamina comparable to his mentor in his heyday, defeating villains and traveling the entire nation for several weeks, if not a month, without stopping while maintaining Full Cowl activated. These feats occurred following the events of the All-Out War.
Uchui: Even when exhausted to the point of collapse, he was still stronger than all of Class 1-A put together. His extreme pain tolerance has increased even more, to the point where multiple broken bones hardly seem to stop him from fighting. Additionally, he has survived the agony of bullet wounds for roughly a month.
Leona: Deku is an analytical wizard in his own right, since he is well-versed in Quirks and constantly assesses their advantages and disadvantages during combat. But even with all these crazy ass powers and abilities under his belt, Deku's true strength lies in  the teamwork between himself and his friends.
Uchui: And with their assistance, Deku will undoubtedly grow into the ray of hope he always imagined himself to be.
Hifumi: The Symbol of Hope...All For One...and One For All...
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Alright, the combatants are set! Let's end this debate once and for all!
Leona & Uchui: IT'S TIME FOR A DEEAAATH BAAATTLLLLLLEEE!
Tumblr media
Two lightning-fast individuals are seen flying across the screen and parkouring their way over the horizons of an uninhabited island archipelago in the middle of the ocean.
Hajime Hinata, the leader of the Remnants of Despair and the Ultimate Hope, is one of these individuals. The other is Izuku Midoriya, the head of Class 1-A and the Hero, Deku.
When they come into contact with the rocky, mountainous terrain of the archipelago, both heroes come to a grinding stop. As they take their positions on opposite hilltops, Hajime turns to look at Deku, his expression halfway between excited and stern.
Hajime: Alright. We should be far enough away from any civilization or infrastructure that we could risk damaging.
Deku: Yes! Thank you again for agreeing to let me spar with you! I hope to learn a lot!
Hajime: Don't get your hopes up. Really, I'm just a regular guy in the grand scheme of things...
Deku: I'm not sure I believe that! I think you'll make for a great opponent!
Deku drops into a fighting stance with a smile on his face.
Deku: You'd better not hold back! Because I know I won't!
Hajime: Heh...Whatever you say, kid...
youtube
As Hajime adopts a fighting stance of his own, Deku lunges forward to land a blow. Even though the punch is light, Hajime is pleasantly surprised to feel its sheer power as he catches it with his hands.
He acknowledges the strength of his opponent with a smile before snatching his arm, turning, and flinging him into the hills, where he crashes into the top of a crag. After that, he runs after Deku, creating a dust cloud in his wake.
Deku: Heh...!
Deku's Iron Soles grind him to a stop, but his smile stays broad even after he's sent flying. When he recovers, he sees Hajime flying in his direction, trying to hit him with a strong haymaker. Deku counters by activating Full Cowl at 8% and delivering his own haymaker back.
The mountainous terrain around them crumbles as their fists collide. At a breakneck pace, they continue punching without missing their target until the very last moment of their combination, when they land a blow so strong it knocks the other person flying backwards.
Deku: Delaware...SMASH!
Hajime: Think again...!
Deku, charging in to take up arms, launches a cloud of compressed air from a distance. In response to the attack, Hajime appears to catch and deflect the air.
Hajime: Funny...I know someone else who's used similar techniques before...Oh, that's right! ME!
Hajime gestures with his fingers as though he is brandishing a gun at Deku. He launches his own pressurized air blasts at the rising Hero, surprising Deku, who is only able to avoid with the help of his Danger Sense.
Deku: Woah!? Delaware Smash Air Force!
Taken off guard, but thoroughly impressed, Deku ups the ante. He fires a burst of compressed air at his opponent using his special gloves. The blast has enough concussive force to completely shatter the ground beneath Hajime, even though he can see it coming from a mile away and easily avoids it.
Deku looks up in awe as Hajime perches atop another cliff. He looks back, also impressed.
Deku: Incredible! How about we take it up a notch!?
The Ultimate Hope is about to be struck by the Symbol of Peace, who cocks his fist back, but Hajime effortlessly deflects it with a casual wave of his hand.
The Hero launches another attack, taken aback by how easily his first one was parried. Hajime repays the favor by sending Deku hurtling over a different cliff, where he uses Blackwhip to stop himself.
Hajime: Fine by me...! I was beginning to get bored already!
Deku: You're...surprisingly fickle...AH-!?
Hajime: HYAAGH!
Deku: UUGH!
Without even a moment to think, Deku is met with an uppercut and a barrage of punches from the Ultimate Hope's fist. Hajime quickly brings Deku back down after sending him skyward by grabbing and pulling on his Blackwhip. He swings him around like a throwing hammer, and flings him across the mountain range, landing him on a different island with a forest landscape!
Deku crawls back to his feet, but Hajime moves like a bolt of lightning, and is already standing over him by the time he does.
Hajime: Disappointing...Excuse my rudeness...
Deku; Trust me...I'm just getting started...! FA JIN!
Hajime: Guh!?
Deku activates the third users' quirk and erupts with the kinetic energy stored up from his and Hajime's attacks, powerful enough to blast the Ultimate Hope back. Hajime stumbles through the forest, but Deku is fast to react, landing another blow before an uppercut launches the former Reserve Course student skyward!
Deku: One For All...! Full Cowl...! SHOOT STYLE!
The Hero outcast then leaps toward him and kicks Hajime back to the ground with a Manchester Smash while wearing Iron Soles. Even though the impact blows away several trees and craters the forest, Hajime gets up and gets ready to go again.
*CRUNCH!*
Hajime: Hold THIS!
Hajime then lifts a big tree out of the ground, leap several feet into the air, and slams its trunk into Deku. With ease, the Symbol of Hope breaks the makeshift weapon and flies in Hajime's direction, grabbing him and sending the two of them plummeting back towards the earth.
Deku: Wyoming SMASH!
Deku uses another one of his trademark attacks, giving his opponent a powerful shockwave by spiking him on the head. Hajime is propelled downward, but he catches himself with a display of acrobatics and lands coolly, smirking and scratching his nose.
Deku: You're amazing...! It's like you're not even trying yet!
Hajime: I gotta admit, this is more than I was expecting...Still, hardly a challenge...
Deku only smirks in response to this taunt.
Deku: Then LET LOOSE! TEXAS SMASH!
*WHA-BOOOOM!*
As Hajime ducks under Deku's attack, the forest behind him is completely destroyed by a blast of wind pressure. Without breaking a sweat, he starts hitting Deku with a barrage of punches and kicks, repeatedly knocking All Might's student into a tree with enough force to uproot it. Then, in the middle of flying, Hajime grabs the tree, stops, and tosses it in Deku's direction. Deku is knocked backward by the tree, but he bounces back quickly.
Deku: Give me EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT!
Hajime rushes after Deku as he falls back to the ground, and the battle rages throughout the forest. Following a brief exchange of blows, Hajime gains the upper hand and knocks Deku back with a forceful blow. Hajime then tries to follow through, but Deku stops him.
Deku: Go beyond! PLUS ULTRA!
Much like he once did to his rival Bakugou, Deku shoulder-throws Hajime, smacking him into the ground and sending him rolling through the trees. Hajime brushes off the pain, the dirt, and Deku's concerns.
Hajime: Give me something exciting to work with...and maybe I'll consider it...!
He is able to support his claim by leaping ahead and casually punching Deku all the way to the island's coast through the forest. The Hero prodigy's body crackles with energy as he builds even more power, and he floats in the air to avoid colliding with the ocean.
Deku: If you say so...! ONE FOR ALL! FULL COWL 45%
He barely avoids the next blow from Hajime and kicks him into the water, then reels back and uses Texas Smash once more. But the attack and the pressure it releases are FAR more powerful, to the point where it manages to smash into Hajime and split the coast of the ocean.
But shortly after the attack, Hajime leaps out of the water, blasts away the ocean surrounding him, and sprints back towards the island along the water.
They fight across the ocean, exchanging quick blows until they come into contact with yet another island, where they end up locking arms with one another. This island is more barren and flat, made of solid rock and stone with few mountains and cliffs.
Hajime: Now THIS is more like it...! THINK FAST!
Admittedly having at least a little bit of fun, Hajime picks a pebble up with his foot kicks it into the air, and flicks it with his thumb. Midoriya barely manages to avoid the pebble's railgun-like blast, and he just stares in wonder at its power.
Deku: Fast? I can do that...! GEARSHIFT!
Deku uses Gearshift on himself to quickly outrun the Ultimate Hope and kick him in the stomach. He then uses Transmission to quickly take Hajime down a peg with a series of punches that are made more powerful and swift by Gearshift.
Hajime: Hah! Not bad! That one actually hurt a bit!
Deku: There's more where that came from! St. Louis Smash Air Force!
Hajime: Why do all these attacks...? Eh, whatever...! HRUUGH!
Now that he is farther away, Deku fires a powerful vertical roundhouse kick while arching his leg back and releasing a massive burst of compressed air. But Hajime's own supersonic air punch manages to dissolve it. Deku counterattacks by soaring into the air and parrying a second blow.
Deku: SMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSHH!!!
*WHOOOOOOMM!*
He strikes down towards Hajime with a powerful punch, launching multiple enormous flaming fists at him in an overwhelming display of force, similar to the attack that destroyed Overhaul.
Hajime: Hm...Hoo...RRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!*
As he sees the massive flaming fist hurtling towards him, Hajime clenches his fists, stiffens his body, and lets out all of his energy at once, accompanied by a supersonic scream! Deku's attack and the pressure from his body collide, causing a catastrophic nuclear explosion that engulfs the island, resulting in it's complete and total destruction!
There is a pause in the fight as the ocean collapses into the area where the island once was. A large burst of water rises up suddenly near the coast of another island, as Hajime leaps out and drops and rolls onto the sandy beach of the fourth island, gasping for air and pounding his chest to steady his breathing. Deku meanwhile, swings down with Blackwhip and lands on the sand, awkwardly chuckling.
Deku: Well...it's a good thing we decided to take the fight out here, right?
Hajime: Yeah...out here...Wait...Hang on a second...How did we even get out here without a boat?
Struggling to recall the circumstances, Hajime looks back towards the slowly filling crater. But then, he spots something...What appears to be a crack in reality with lines of code fraying off of it like strings.
Hajime: Oh...that's right...Now I remember...
He stands up with a smirk and dusts himself off.
Hajime: Hey, Deku? You wanted to see me go all out, right?
Deku: No! I want you to go BEYOND that! Surpass your limits! Plus Ultra!
Hajime laughs as Deku confidently thrusts a fist towards him. He then ducks down and clenches his own.
Hajime: Well, I can promise I'll try...! Let me show you how powerful I can be!
Red bio-electricity starts to radiate Hajime's body, and his red eye starts to glow, matching Deku's own green electric aura.
Deku beams with anticipation but is instantly struck in the face with a blow so forceful that it tears apart reality once more. And then another, and another, and another, as Hajime, fighting with at least half his strength now to match Deku's, begins to destroy him with every move he can think of, slowly but surely shattering the digital world around them.
After dealing Deku a powerful blow, Hajime appears to teleport there as he moves so quickly. Deku is sent flying. He tries to strike back, but Hajime appears to pause his blow before launching another terrible strike that shatters the world even more.
Deku charges forward, his costume beginning to come apart from the constant attacks. He creates a Blackchain with Blackwhip, which Hajime collides with and is thrown back by. Then, in order to get some hits and knock Hajime into a canyon, he uses Gearshift and Fa Jin. Hajime retaliates, exchanging blows with Deku until the latter throws him into the air.
Hajime counterattacks, sending Midoriya back down to Earth with a devastating axe handle as Deku flies upwards to continue his attack. As Hajime dive bombs to pursue Deku after he lands in the canyon, he crashes into the earth, pushing pebbles out of the ground due to the pressure and aura surrounding him.
Deku then uses Air Force before smashing Hajime once more before the two engage in a fierce fight that ends in an explosion, further widening the fissure. Then they begin to trade blows, with Hajime coming out on top. He unleashes a lethal combo on him that includes some extremely powerful punches to his face that cause the surrounding area to collapse. Hajime then grabs Deku, leaps out of the canyon as everything comes crashing down, and tosses him into a rock formation. Deku is exhausted and drops out of One For All 45% as he faceplants into the ground.
Even under his mid-gauntlets, Deku's bones seem to be slightly fractured from the constant fighting. Hajime decides to talk to him now as he stands up gasping.
Hajime: Well? Is that "Plus Ultra" enough for you?
Deku: Amazing...! You're AMAZING! This has gotta be the most incredible superpower I've ever seen!
Hajime: O-Oh...um...thank...thank you...
Hajime becomes bashful in the wake of Deku's earnest enthusiasm and compliments, as the young Hero himself pulls a notebook and pen out of his tattered costume.
Deku: U-Um...I-If you don't mind, could you explain to me how your Quirk works? I'd like to take notes so I can apply your techniques in my future battles!
Hajime: Huh? Y-You're sure? Well...alright then.
The camera pans out and the fight awkwardly pauses as Hajime quickly explains the logistics of his Talent to Deku, and how Talents and Quirks are slightly different. Deku excitedly scribbles down notes next to a hastily drawn diagram of Hajime. By the time he's finished, he exhales an ecstatic breath, smiling like an innocent child.
Deku: Wow...! It's so...incredible...!
Hajime: Thank you...Still, I really hope it doesn't deter you from trying to reach the top or anything...
Deku: Haha...Of course not...
With a solemn smile, Deku pockets his notebook, straightens his posture, and furrows his brow at Hajime.
Deku: After all...I know just what I need to do to defeat you now...!
Hajime: Oh...?
Deku: One For All...ONE HUNDRED PERCENT!
Hajime: Guh!?
Deciding to risk it all out of nothing but respect for his opponent, Deku pushes past his limits, uses his Quirk at 100% of it's full power, and the sheer force of his presence blasts Hajime back!
Now emitting a green aura and crackling with lightning, Hajime can barely stand to look at Deku when suddenly, Deku stamps on the ground so hard, the ground beneath his feet erupts, throwing him up into the air!
*WHOOSH!* *BANG!*
Hajime: Gugh! GRAGH!
Deku: HUUUUAAAGH!
*WHAM!* *WHAM!* *WHAM!* *WHAM!**WHAM!* *WHAM!*
Deku: I want you to SMILE!
Hajime: GRRGH!
Deku unleashes a multitude of punches that slowly but surely cause his own bones to break apart, and yet despite that, he doesn't even slightly relent! He gives everything he has into battling Hajime, beating him at 100%, and even adding the effects of Gearshift and Fa Jin on top of it, increasing his power even further beyond!
And yet, despite facing the brunt of the biggest thrashing he's faced in his life...Hajime grins ear to ear...
Hajime (internally): When was the last time...I felt this much pain?
Deku: UNITED STATES...!
Hajime (internally): My muscles are killing me...That punch hurt like hell...If I get hit with something stronger than that, it might kill me...! So why...?
Deku: OF THE WORLD...!
Hajime (internally): Why am I...so HAPPY right now...!?
Deku: SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSHHHHH!
Hajime breaks out of his bliss when Deku unleashes one of his best Ultimate Moves, with enough force that not one, but TWO of the archipelago islands are completely and utterly destroyed by it! Hajime however, withstands it, even though he suffers several broken ribs and torn muscles. Deku for his part is also gradually falling apart, but regardless...neither smiles are broken.
Hajime: LET'S GOOOOO!
Deku: YEAH!
Hajime also decides to put his full weight into the fight; his body glowing a white aura. To Hajime's delight, Deku manages to stay ahead of him despite him reaching his maximum and evade his blows, unleashing even more powerful counterattacks.
Hajime's aura only intensifies as he and 100% Deku trade blows all over the archipelago at blinding speeds, gradually tearing apart what's left of the islands. His clothes are torn, and he is now taking the fight more seriously.
Hajime finally hits Deku hard with a punch that hurts him a lot, but it doesn't upset him. Deku catches Hajime's fist and punches him to the side as he tries to follow up. To the point where their latent energies are released and begin to rip the world apart at the seams, Deku and Hajime throw as many attacks at each other as they can, repeatedly countering, blocking, and dodging each other's blows.
Hajime: Wait...that's right...! This is the digital world...! Then...Haha...I wonder how far I can take this...!?
Deku is surprised as Hajime suddenly leaps high up into the sky, silhouetted by the virtual sun. The Ultimate Hope looks beyond the endless horizon, and then up at the sky above him. The silhouette of his best friend, Chiaki Nanami, wearing her Hope's Peak uniform hovers in the air above him. She reaches out her hand, and Hajime takes it...
From Deku's perspective, Hajime's the scene is honestly, somewhat haunting. It appears as though Hajime's presence alone has the power to destroy the world as his body glows and his hair stands on end, causing the waves surrounding him to become restless and red lightning to strike everywhere. Eventually, his body flashes white, his hair turns whitish-gold, and both of his eyes turn a piercing red as he screams with will and power. But, Deku only notices Hajime's mouth when he looks down from above, ignoring every other feature on his face.
Hajime: YOU WANTED MY BEST?!?! HERE IT IS!!!
Deku: Now THAT'S a smile...! ONE FOR ALL!!
Hajime: I'll never let myself be bored again...!
Deku: ONE MILLION PERCENT!
Hajime: I'll never let anyone CHOOSE AGAIN...!
Deku: DELAWARE...!
Hajime: I am NOT Izuru Kamukura!
Deku: DETROIT!
Hajime: I AM HAJIME HINNAAATAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Deku: SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSHHH!!!
Deku soars through the sky while Hajime soars back down! He unleashes the strongest SMASH he has while Hajime uses all of his strength-related abilities to deliver his devastating blow!
Both characters understand that they must go above and beyond PLUS ULTRA if they hope to succeed! So they both give it their all one last time, screaming as their fists finally make contact!
The impact alone proves to be so powerful that what remains of the archipelago is straight up DELETED! Despite Deku increasing the power of his attacks even further with his other quirks, Hajime is still able to endure it as he pushes forward! Neither of them want to let up, not necessarily out of a drive to win, but a desire to show their opponent the respect they well and truly deserve!
Their two unstoppable powerhouses collide in a way that destroys the digital world entirely, shrouding everything in darkness until reality cracks open and emits a brilliant white light...And at that point, the godly clash finally ends, and the game shuts down entirely...
...When Deku's arm finally gives way...
------------------------------------------------------------------
Deku: AGH!?
Deku suddenly lurches awake, looking around in a panic as he realizes he's not on the archipelago anymore. He sits in a round-shaped pod and looks down at his arms to see that they're still intact. He then looks above him to see the pod he's sitting in connected to a large computer in the center, with a bluescreen on the monitor.
Hajime: Heh...Chihiro's gonna kill me...
Deku looks up to see Hajime, now back to normal, leaning on his pod. They both look up towards the computer.
Hajime: It's called the Neo World Program. Future Foundation modified it so that we could use our full strength without the risk of causing any lasting damage or hurting anyone.
Deku: Hahaha...You weren't kidding about being careful. I almost forgot I even got in this pod...Still, I guess this means I lost, huh?
Hajime: Well...
Hajime crosses his legs and sits comfortably.
Hajime: If you want me to be honest...You are the most powerful person I've ever had the pleasure of fighting...And that was the most fun I've had ever since I got these powers. Even if I'm "perfect," you're smart, strong...kind...and you're not done growing yet...
Deku: Meaning, what?
Hajime: I'm saying...I can't wait for the rematch...!
Hajime raises his hand for a fist bump...
Deku: Haha! Me neither!
...And Deku returns it...
Tumblr media
Leona: And THERE WE HAVE IT! We have PEAKED PEOPLE!
Uchui: I have to agree! That was nothing if not glorious! Though I guess we're gonna have to use the backup simulator for the final battle...This one got totalled...
Hifumi: Given the vast array of skills and abilities that these two fighters have, there are a lot of ways that this fight could turn out. Factors such as the environment, circumstances, timing, and continuity have the potential to significantly alter the outcome of this battle. So let's analyze each category to take into account when it comes to Death Battles and determine our winner. Strength is the first and most evident.
Uchui: There is a fair bit to consider when scaling their individual powers here. First of all, while Deku at his maximum power, and Hajime/Izuru at theirs has done similar things, like the time Deku disintegrated a gigantic block of solid matter or destroyed an entire building with one of his strongest smashes, while Izuru disintegrated a skyscraper that Nagito Komaeda threw at him by using a pebble as a bullet.
Leona: Let's start with Deku, whose most notable feat is actually the one that was calculated in his canonical Death Battle episode; parting the clouds with Bakugou. At the time, Death Battle calculated this feat would require a force of 80 Teratons of TNT. And we're willing to stick by them on that one. In contrast, Izuru struck the ground during his brief, but powerful clash with Matta Gyalusetsu so hard, it caused earthquakes across all of Japan! So how big a gap is that?
Hifumi: Calculating it from Deku's canon Death Battle episode, Deku VS Asta, Death Battle calculated that Asta could dish out a power equal to about 480 Teratons of TNT, because he scaled to an attack that could wipe out the Clover Kingdom, which is about half the size of Great Britain. Japan is approximately 1.6 times bigger than the entire united kingdom, so doubling up and scaling that calculated result from Death Battle's analysis, it puts Izuru on the level of 1536 Teratons, or 1.54 Petatons of TNT!
Leona: That's 15 Zeroes by the way! Basically, that would mean Izuru is about 19 times stronger than Deku, so he undoubtedly takes the win in terms of strength!
Uchui: Well...not EXACTLY...Unfortunately, it's near impossible to lock down just how powerful Hajime is as his maximum potential, since he rarely ever uses his full strength in a fight. Unlike Deku, who can be scaled to other One For All users like All Might, as well as his classmates like Bakugou, Hajime is above and beyond every powerful feat in Danganronpa, and can't even be properly scaled to the other two Ultimate Hope's. Plus, at the time of that cloud-splitting feat, Deku didn't have Fa Jin or Gearshift, so who knows how much power he would have on his own if he had applied those at the time?
Hifumi: Izuru confirmed that during his fight with Komaeda that Hajime was massively holding back the entire time they were fighting, and even Izuru seemed to merely be toying with him at first. While an exact unit hasn't been given, the fact that he was able to throw Komaeda around like a ragdoll and completely undermine him in spite of how he was able to defeat every other member of the Remnant's of Despair means it's far greater than that, and he must have been using NOTHING on Fujimori!
Uchui: Makes sense. They were fighting on a cruise liner filled with hostages and Hajime didn't want to hurt Ayumu either. So of course he was holding back. But even without a total number, Deku achieved that cloud feat with 100% of his power, AND coupled with Bakugou who was using the same thing. Using quirks like Gearshift and Fa Jin means Deku has likely gotten even stronger since then, being able to bring out 120% of his Quirk's full capability, and he's not done growing yet.
Leona: Even if Izuru is multiple times stronger, it probably won't be long before Deku finds a way to properly catch up with him. Our safest bet for this analysis is to say that they tie in strength.
Hifumi: In that case, we move onto speed. This stat on the other hand, is fairly clear cut. Deku would have a reaction time close to lightspeed if he could scale to Shigaraki. In addition, he has reacted to Lady Nagant's bullets caught them, and avoided lasers and if he applies Gearshift, he can accelerate even further.
Uchui: In contrast, Hajime is casually able to move so fast that it feels like the flow of time itself has stopped. And it's not that ridiculous in context. Characters like Mukuro Ikusaba and Sakura Ogami have done the same thing, even without Ultimate Hope powers; and Hajime is leagues beyond both of them.
Leona: For sure! Even without the whole time-stoppy BS, Izuru would just be leagues faster. Deku is able to respond to Bakugou's explosions of Nitroglycerin, but that Mach 20 is far less than Sakura Ogami's feat, which places her at Mach 26,475, which is easily Sub-Relativistic! In fact, it even beats the powerhouses like All For One and All Might! Izuru CLEANS in speed, and even with Deku's keen battle instincts and reactions, it's unlikely even Danger Sense would be enough to save him!
Uchui: Deku and Hajime do have very similar styles of fighting though, so they should both realistically know how to react to each other's attacks and abilities. The next thing to go over is durability.
Hifumi: Both Hinata and Midoriya have taken the full brunt of some DEVASTATING attacks, especially Hinata's feat of surviving the nuclear explosion of Jabberwock Island. Deku surviving attacks from terrifying villains like Shigaraki, Overhaul and more also implies unbreakable defenses, and yet despite all of that, we still have to give this point to Mr. Hinata.
Leona: The reason being that while Deku has trained to suit himself for it, as things stand now, he can't even bare the brunt of his OWN ATTACKS! Every time he attacks with 100% of his max power, he ends up breaking his bones, almost to the point of destroying the use of his arms and legs entirely.
Uchui: Hajime on the other hand shares absolutely no such weakness. He's more than capable of unleashing the full capability of his talents with no serious drawbacks. In fact, his only weakness is his mentality, something that Hope's Peak knew would get in the way, thus removed upon Izuru's creation. All in all, Deku's most glaring weakness is the only thing that makes him lose this particular comparison, but removing it, they're actually dead even, just like strength.
Leona: The same cannot be said in terms of stamina, where Hajime just completely outclasses him. After the events of the All-Out War, Deku demonstrated that he is capable of taking down villains and touring the country for a few weeks, if not a month, without taking a break while keeping Full Cowl activated at all times. Despite being completely exhausted, he was able to repel Class 1-A's combined efforts, and while his broken bones are undeniably a weakness, they rarely ever significantly impair his fighting prowess.
Hifumi: On the other hand, with all of his athletic prowess, Mr. Hinata ought to be even more resilient than Genocide Jack, who, in contrast to her other half, never seems to tire and can take on a great deal of Monokumas with ease. In fact, even without his powers, Nekomaru Nidai mentioned that he had the makings of an athlete, despite his seemingly slender appearance. He is surprisingly muscular when he isn't wearing a shirt, and he's able to run a great distance around Jabberwock Island without seeming to get tired.
Leona: Now let's talk intelligence! This one's also pretty straightforward.
Uchui: Deku is unquestionably a GENIUS when it comes to both academics and combat. On top of studying famous heroes quirks and analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of people's powers his whole life, in his few months at U.A. High, he has fought several different villains, which has given him invaluable experience. His prognostication abilities are so advanced that, even in the dark and during torrential rain, he could discern Lady Nagant's movement patterns and pinpoint her location based only on the trajectory of her bullets. And despite only having used Fa Jin for a few minutes, he quickly became proficient with it in combat. He has also demonstrated the capacity to carry out several mental tasks concurrently, or multitasking, an ability that is thought to be beyond human capability.
Hifumi: But as impressive as all that is, it's NOTHING compared to Hajime Hinata. Mr. Hinata was a successful student in his own right even though he was enrolled in the Reserve Course. He demonstrated his skill as an amateur sleuth during the Neo World Program Killing Game by leading the charge to solve every murder case, even the ones that involved devious tactics and scant evidence, just as Makoto Naegi had done before him.
Leona: And that's not even mentioning the fatass Elephant in the Room that is the talent of Ultimate Analytical Prowess.
Uchui: Junko Enoshima's Ultimate Analytical Prowess talent bestowed upon her monstrous analytical abilities, rendering it remarkably effortless for her to forecast events and expeditiously acquire the proficiencies of other talent holders. For example, she was able to produce brainwashing videos by merely observing Ryota Mitarai at work, learned how to perform neurosurgery to lobotomize and/or erase others' memories by perusing Yasuke Matsuda's research, and acquire programming knowledge by looking at Chihiro Fujisaki's programs. And Hajime, having this talent, is just as capable of doing all that, if not moreso.
Leona: Deku may have more on-field combat experience, but with Ultimate Hope that just automatically gives you the power to do everything, who really needs all that crap? Hajime's uncanny ability to analyze even allows him to easily see through most of Deku's attacks, as well as easily identifying his weaknesses like his bone-breaking punches.
Hifumi: Which ultimately leads us with one more, glaringly obvious category to go into...Powers!
Tumblr media
Leona: One For All, Gearshift, Fa Jin, Danger Sense, Float, Blackwhip, Smokescreen, all those United States of Smash attacks, Full Cowl, Shoot Style, Air Force...Deku's got so many awesome and powerful attacks, techniques, powers, gear and moves under his belt, it's honestly amazing to think he doesn't win with any of them!
Uchui: It doesn't matter. Deku may have a handful of superhuman attacks and feats, but he's facing an opponent who is essentially unstoppable and can do EVERYTHING! And not just on a human level! Something FAR ABOVE even that! Hajime was endowed with every human talent by the experiment that transformed him into Izuru Kamakura. Imagine battling an opponent who possesses almost any skill. Do you believe you could succeed?
Hifumi: That's not even taking into account the more ridiculous powers like Ultimate Luck, which is shown to make him virtually untouchable. Mr. Hinata has extraordinary luck, which allows him to quickly influence most situations to his advantage, particularly those involving conflict. For example, the gun was perfectly working moments before Komaeda tried to shoot Kamukura, but it jammed.
Uchui: Nagito and Hajime engaged in another battle in which the former used a ball to knock out all of the nuts and bolts that held up the building, bringing it to an entirely new level. However, Izuru was unharmed by pure luck. Additionally, he should have better luck than Makoto, who even people like Junko Enoshima find unpredictable due to his special luck pattern that enables him to survive near-death experiences.
Leona: And if JUNKO couldn't figure out how to work around Izuru's luck, then DEKU certainly couldn't!
Uchui: And again, Deku can't unleash his most powerful attacks without severely hurting himself in the process. And that concludes our discussion! Hajime gains the upper hand in power because he has an excessive number of counters and hacks, and in the end, he prevails!
Leona: Well, I think there's something else...If you really think about it, both Hajime and Deku's powers involve them using percentages of their full power. But the difference is that Deku multiplies his strength to get stronger, while Hajime DIVIDES his to get weaker, especially since there aren't many people in the world of Danganronpa who can actually touch him. At the end of the day, this fight isn't about who would win, but about finding someone who can bring out the best in each other, even if it's through bloody battling. And I think Deku had everything he needed to bring that excitement and joy back to Hajime's life. Saving him with a smile and bringing one back to his face.
Hifumi: In that regard...I suppose Midoriya DOES win.
Uchui: Well, if that's not the pinnacle of Death Battle, I don't know what is...
Uchui casually fist-bumps Leona.
Hifumi: Izuku Midoriya proved to be a worthy heir to the title of Symbol of Hope, as his cunning strategy and unwavering determination gave his opponent the fight of his life. However, Hajime Hinata's unmatched strength, immense abilities, and boundless potential proved to be too much for All Might's student to overcome.
Leona: Deku gave it his All, but he simply couldn't Hope to compete with Hajime, the pinnacle of humanity!

THE WINNER IS HAJIME HINATA!

Lae'zel is like a play on the "I'm not other girls" thing, except she's trying SO hard to be like other Gith girls. She's trying to steel her heart and be a perfect soldier in the collective army serving beneath Vlaakith. No will of her own. Just blind servitude alongside the other Gith who are also denying their own individualism.
Rather than gutting the companions right then and there - as any other Githyanki would do - she joins them AND promises them a cure. A cure that was meant to be ONLY for Githyanki warriors. And she doesn't know about the lies or the fact that he cure is a death sentence, but she still extends that olive branch to the group. She'll speak up when she's grouchy and try to project a hard exterior, but she's SO secretly soft.
When you approach Rosymorn, she'll stay on that part of the map if you try to leave. Upon returning, you can make her admit she missed you.
You can make the strong Gith who was raised to pillage, kill, and conquer admit that she missed the player character.
Lae'zel isn't like other Gith Girls.
Her act two scene is trying to progress the romance as though it were between two Gith raised within that culture. It's a fight to prove your worth through your battle prowess, which makes only the best *warriors* worthy of companionship. However, it becomes clear that isn't want Lae'zel wants. If the player loses, and Bae'zel beats the fuck out of them, she becomes distraught because she doesn't WANT to fight her romantic partner.
She wants to mutually protect one another. She wants companionship with her partner. She wants to enjoy the sunrise with them, feel the tickle of the night breeze, see the Tears of Selune chase after the moon across the night sky, she wants to live and she wants to share those experiences with her love. She doesn't WANT to be the stone cold Gith that she was raised to be.
Lae'zel wasn't given any role to do with the eggs, but once the egg is in the party's possession, she's instantly drawn to it. When Xan hatches, she gives him a name to represent that he'll be raised to be free to be himself. He'll have the freedom to choose his own path, whatever that maybe. Xan DOESN'T have to be like the other Gith. He could be a scholar, an artist, a warrior, anything he wishes to be. It's his life and Lae'zel is just happy to see her little Xan be raised with the freedom she didn't realize she craved until she arrived on that silly little planet.
Lae'zel isn't like other Gith girls because no two people are the same, even if raised in the same circumstances and culture. Everyone is an individual, even when they serve a collective or are fighting alongside Allies with the same main goal.
Lae'zel isn't just a nameless, faceless soldier. She isn't interchangeable with other Gith. She isn't like the other Gith girlies.

Don’t just stereotype any “cold” “inhuman” “uncaring” character as aromantic/asexual but also when I (aroace) claim every character who’s disconnected from typical humanity and emotions as aromantic/asexual i’m alway right and its 100% true #real

Thank you priest for writing lots of epic length slow burns
Thank u Silent Reading for a slow burn that takes like a third a novel to flirt, half a novel to date, three fourths to hook up, four fifths to actually be (relatively) honest and confess some bigger heavy stuff (and for fei du to propose with a quickly made ring) and im on the last fifth now but I expect more reveals to come. Thanks for a slow burn that was half during their actual romance so the buildup of trust and development didn't stall once "together." Thanks for making them "love rivals" at the start so they're not flirting exactly, but they're competitively flirting and will go onto continue doing fighting/competitive flirting for the rest of their lives so its a fun transition from their mutual crush to each other (and also gives a fun opponent/enemies vibe that never totally goes away and even 4/5 in when fei du admits most things, there's the undercurrent feeling they'll never truly be able to see eye to eye in the same world as each other and just have to adjust to learning what the others perception is when they can)
#silent reading#lb#zhoudu#this might sound odd but zhoudu remind me of xena and gabrielle a LOT#because ones older and ones a mentor of Goodness and ones hellbent on revenge by any means#fei du may (depends on when and whats compared) have a more fucked up childhood than xena but he also killed less#and theres other differences#but stuff like the domestic vibe. the mutually flirty boss vibe. the mentor and mentee of each other in different aspects#the acclimatjng on how to love someone who loves YOU back but whos otherwise morality is simply NEVER going#to be the same as yours no matter how they change#cause their world is just fundamentally different#(id argue until gabrielle kills to protect xena in her pacifist arc she is not fully seeing#the worldview xena has as Warrior as HER path and THE way to protect loved ones.#beforw that gabrielle tries being a bard being a pacifist even eventually a spiritually avoiding harm belief.#but once she crosses That line for her loved one? shes done what xenas done forcmany years#killed for someone she loved or thinking in some way itd help or protect ppl she feltcresponsible for)#well luo wenzhou and fei du dont have that kind of scene yet. luo wenzhou Cant fully see why someone would#have fei dus moral view and driving his actions#fei du hasnt killed anyone. but perceprions wise Anything is justified for revenge and protecting#the innocent caught up in messes. and its just a Different basic perspective of the world ans how to interact#its very xena x gabrielle to me in 2 very different ppl also making a home together theyd Only be able to have together

Sokka may not be a misogynist, but the Netflix live action ATLA is:
There really is no cartoon/anime for female empowerment like the OG ATLA and LOK cartoons.
The creators of ATLA wrote the manifesto on how to create a masterful series on female empowerment and equality that is not cheesy or hocky.
In this show, women and girls are not a monolith but immensely diverse. There's no correct way to be a powerful, talented and bold woman or girl within the avatar universe.
You can be hyper-feminine like Ty Lee and Asami.
You can embody more traditionally masculine qualities like Korra and Toph.
Or you could just be a typical woman or girl falling more in between like Azula, Mai, or Suki.
You see the exact same thing for the male characters. There's no right way to be a man. There's many ways to be a man, and this idea flies in the face of patriarchy.
I say that the Netflix version is misogynist, because it's not enough to be a powerful woman. One must be allowed to be unapologetically, unabashedly and boldy powerful.
Which is what happens in the OG ATLA. Sokka's misogyny was actually a part of his character arc, because every time he was misogynist his misogyny was met with the answer that women and girls are phenomenal, that women and girls are living their lives and largely unconcerned with the opinions of men.
If you read the Kiyoshi novels, you learn that surprisingly enough, the least patriarchal amd misogynist nation in all of Avatar is the fire nation, and the misogynistic nation in all of Avatar is the northern water tribe.
The reason I say that the women in these shows are unabashedly powerful is because aside from Sokka and the master from the Northern Water tribe, no one ever questions why or how they are powerful. They expect it.
Zuko is Ozai's first born son, yet Azula is his pride. When Ozai imagines the future, he imagines it with Azula as the fire lord. He names her after his father. He trusts her to go find the avatar once he knows the avatar has returned.
Sokka and Katara effectively lost both of their parents, but Katara the youngest steps up as the mother and becomes the glue of the group. She's the one who becomes both an immensely powerful bender and healer.
Suki loves Sokka, but when we are introduced to her. She is unconcerned with him. Her and the other Kiyoshi warriors are the protectors of the village who go out into the world to do good into the world.
We see the revseral of all of these tenants in the Netflix show.
Ozai has hope for Zuko at the expense of Azula who he sees as a nuisance. She is no longer am obvious prodigy.
Katara is seen as a child who will not grow up by her brother who is now behaving as a father figure.
Suki is infatuated with Sokka and she follows him around Kiyoshi island when he arrives.
These woman are powerful but restrained and undermined in this power. Suki becomes concerned with the opinions of a man, and a random man at that.
What the OG ATLA taught to all women, girls, boys and men is that you never have to apologize for being powerful, intelligent, kind empathetic.
This is a very critical point that cuts to the heart of the OG ATLA that Netflix has missed.

Junko Enoshima Monika [Danganronpa Survivor VS Doki Doki Literature Club]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hifumi: Junko Enoshima, the Marvelous Mastermind of Danganronpa!
Tumblr media
Leona: Monika, the Pretty President of the Literature Club!
Hifumi: As once stated by Julian Fellowes, "Harsh reality is always better than false hope." But when a victim of harsh reality meets a harbinger of false hope...When will's collide and Hope and Despair culminate into a vacuum of violence...which comes out on top?
Leona: He's Hifumi, and I'm Leona!
Hifumi: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, talents and skills, to see who will win...One Final DEATH BATTLE!
Tumblr media
Leona: Alright bitches, it's finally time...We've spent 12 episodes with this series, and at least once in all 12 episodes, we come back to this bitch's legacy. The character who is singlehandly tied to every major event in our world as we know it...All roads lead back to the figure that is...Junko...Enoshima...And now we finally, at the end of the series...at long last...bring her into the limelight. So strap on your chastity belts bitches, it's about to get CRAAAAZZYYYY...!
Hifumi: Our story starts, as it always does, with Hope's Peak Academy, a school committed to assisting in the training of top performers in their fields. These master students—better known as "Ultimates"—are among the most gifted individuals on the planet.
Leona: In fact, they were so gifted that, if they so chose, they could actually alter the course of history and change the world as we know it.
Hifumi: Leona and I, as well as our friends who help work on this show, are all Ultimate's ourselves. I am the Ultimate Fanfic Creator, and she's the Ultimate Mangaka. And first hand, we can say that this statement is indeed accurate...In the worst way you could possibly think of, no less.
Leona: We're of course referring to the Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History, or the Tragedy for short. The bright students we just discussed would never have the opportunity to shine like they were always meant to because of that tragic incident. It really was the beginning of the end for the world. The weak were killed by the strong. Lesser people killed lesser people. And strong people were lynched by factions formed by the weaker.
Hifumi: People lost their sensitivity as the deaths and violence increased. They accepted death as a given and rolled in the Despair, since it was all they could know, as though time had stopped. The media reported on deaths, terrorism, violence, riots, war purely for the sake of war, and every horrible thing you can imagine in a societal collapse, at an alarming rate, and the few sane people that remained could only sit back and watch.
Leona: And as we've discussed plentiful times over the course of this series, it all came from an unlikely and inconspicuous place...a high-school girl.
Hifumi: Not just ANY high-school girl...The one and only Junko Enoshima...!
Tumblr media
Leona: Now, for the uneducated, which is probably none of you, you're probably looking at her and questioning what we're talking about. You're probably thinking, "She actually doesn't look so bad. I like her little hairpins! She's kinda cute!" DON'T LET YOUR DICK LEAD YOU ASTRAY! IT'S A LIAR AND IS TRYING TO KILL YOU!"
Hifumi: A-Ahem...Though I would not phrase it the same way, it is important to not be fooled by the lively and innocent manner of Enoshima. Beneath the cute gal exterior is a cold-blooded psychopath with a black heart.
Leona: "Cold-blooded" doesn't even BEGIN to describe this bitch! Although there isn't a lot of specific information about Junko's past, we DO know that she was an Ultimate Student herself who, ironically, lost interest in everything because of her extraordinary talent.
Hifumi: Junko Enoshima, technically speaking, possesses THREE Ultimate Talents that derive from her own skillset. The one that she got accepted into Hope's Peak for was the Ultimate Fashionista, since she worked previously as a model, and frequently served as the cover girl for many magazines. In truth however, she uses this talent as a ruse to stay under the radar of her foes, and hide her true, deadly potential.
Leona: In reality, Junko has a much more powerful talent; possibly the MOST powerful talent that ever "graced" Hope's Peak Academy or any school like it: The Ultimate Analytical Prowess!
Hifumi: There are...many layers to this ability. But in short, she has the ability to read and analyze anything almost instantly, and with a quick glance, she can learn about her enemies' personalities, skills, ideas, and potentially their entire history. She can therefore foresee almost everything that comes her way. Enoshima's ability to predict trends even allowed her to obtain the credentials necessary to become the Ultimate Fashionista, as it allowed her to foresee what would become popular with society before it actually did!
Leona: But the big problem with this natural ability of hers is that it's kind of what drove her into the state of madness that she's chronically in. Because she's basically got natural premonition, Junko's life lacked any sort of excitement. She became excessively apathetic and easily bored, even for abnormal levels, because her Ultimate Talent just made her life WAY too easy!
Hifumi: Except there was a caveat to this...As mentioned, Junko's analytical prowess was capable of predicting and analyzing almost anything without any effort...UNLESS it was something entirely beyond her capacity for comprehension and understanding of what she has seen. Which is what made Junko become fascinated with both creating and experiencing DESPAIR, the most pleasurable feeling for her, if not the ONLY one.
Leona: Because Despair as a concept was so unpredictable in the way it manifested, and because she could never quite predict what someone would do if they were at the very end of their mental breaking point, Junko Enoshima became OBSESSED with it, and REVELLED in it, whether it be completely experiencing Despair or causing Despair to others.
Hifumi: This, of course, made her EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! Particularly since Enoshima herself, and the developers of the game have both acknowledged that she genuinely has no motivation other than Despair and pain itself, which makes her even more dangerous and unjustly unreasonable. From this, Junko Enoshima obtained her third talent, and by far her greatest and most well-known one: The Ultimate Despair...!
Leona: Owing to her ability to make everything predictable and simple to comprehend, she has committed her life to bringing misery into the world. Because she has a gift for seeing everything, including the flaws in her victims, she is particularly adept at spreading hopelessness. She can get inside your head by barely moving her mouth. If that's not the epitome of the most dangerous character in the world, I don't know what is! She makes all those dictators and evil people in the worlds history look like fucking kindergarteners!
Hifumi: She claimed to be able to spread despair to everyone she came into contact with, attempting to sap their motivation and hope in order to control them as she pleases, even going so far as to make videos to induce a state of deep despair in others. The worst part is that, for the most part, it works—even on the most powerful and unscrupulous clients, like Mukuro Ikusaba and Izuru Kamukura.
Leona: Speaking of which, Mukuro and Junko are actually twin sisters, and while Mukuro saw her relationship with her sister as a divine unmatched partnership, to Junko, Mukuro was little more than her earliest victim. She acted as her protector and followed Junko's instructions, even dressing like her to aid in her plots.
Hifumi: And aside from her, she has many an evil ally that fell to Despair thanks to her manipulation. Ms Ikusaba, the Remnant's of Despair, and even Izuru Kamukura, the all-powerful Ultimate Hope that we discussed in our last episode.
Leona: But obviously Junko's not going to be able to make use of any of them, since we're not allowing outside help. So what does that mean?
Junko: It means we're hiring baby!
Hifumi: Well, even without her allies be her side, Junko Enoshima has many tricks and tools of the trade to help her get the job done. Though nowhere close to her sister in battle prowess, sheeee...sheeeee...!?
Hifumi and Leona slowly turn their heads as they finally notice a third presence in the room, who smiles back at them.
Junko: Helloooo~!
Leona & Hifumi: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGH!!?
Leona: She's here! SHE'S HERE!
Junko: HAHAHAHAHA! That I am! Junko FUCKIN' Enoshima is IN DA HOOOUUUSSEE!
Leona: H-How did you bypass my flawless security!?
Junko: You mean that wooden sign outside that just says "Danger: Keep Out?" I'm the scourge of society, I don't follow rules~
Leona: Curses!
Hifumi: Wh-What do you want!?
Junko: Nothin' much! I just heard about this sweet little thing you guys were doing and heard I was getting an episode. And I was shocked that you didn't invite me! So whether you like it or not, I'm gonna be your extra co-host for today!
Hifumi: O-Oh...W-Well, we weren't exactly prepared for you...You're really not gonna kill us?
Junko: Eh...No one would care if you two died, so there's no Despair to be found there...This "Monika" girl on the other hand seems like a sweet treat. And don't you think my comprehensive analysis skills would do good in this kind of situation? I mean, I already know who's going to win~
Leona: Wh-What will you do if we say no?
Junko: Puhuhu! Wweeelll...I think you were just about to start talking about that, weren't you?
Tumblr media
Junko: Aside from some of my more trademark weapons and pieces of gear, I do have my own fair share of lame ass weapons that I carry around in case, y'know? Like the grenades I blow people up with, the baseball bat I tried to crack Izuru's skull with, an ice pick that I like to stab my sister with, and a knife because...why not? Oh, and I've also got this mean poisonous lipstick thing that lets me paralyze people with a kiss! How about a demonstration, Leona-chan?
Leona: N-No! Sorry! Workplace relations aren't allowed! Please don't touch me.
Hifumi: A...Ahem...But of course, as I was saying, she's got more backup than she needs even without the Remnants, with her vast army of Monokuma's.
Junko: Ah yes, how could I forget my precious babies? JK! I didn't! Psych!
Hifumi: Monokuma is an icon in Danganronpa, and the face of all acts of Despair Junko and her cronies, but originally, they were created by Junko's protégé and the Head of Towa Group's robotics division, Monaca.
Leona: Woah! How ironic. The initial intent was that the Monokuma's were to be used as housekeeping and bodyguard robots, designed to aid the people of Towa City and the world at large with their day to day endeavours. At least, that's what Monaca claimed. In actuality, it was a cover story to provide her "big sis Junko" with an unbeatable robot army!
Hifumi: And the Monokuma's come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and variants. However, Junko has never been shown utilizing any Monokuma variants outside of the base one from the Killing Game, which is exceedingly strong and has many of it's own interesting capabilities, but it means she doesn't ever use it's variants like the flame-spewing Destroyer Monokuma, or the bloodthirsty Beast Monokuma. Which unfortunately means we won't be counting them for this fight.
Leona: Monokuma's power scale is difficult to lock down, since it changes via the setting and the game, but considering this is a composite version of Junko, we'll be counting all the one's she utilizes. That means we won't be counting his V3 appearance, since those are only used by Tsumugi and Team Danganronpa, not Junko herself.
Junko: 'sfine that one sucks anyway...
Hifumi: Now it's important to make sure we get one key fact out of the way here. In the First Killing Game, there was a significant plot point that showed that Junko could not control Monokuma without the use of the control room, and she couldn't simultaneously use Monokuma and inspect the cameras at the same time due to them being in different rooms. But in the second Killing Game, this is reprimanded, and since this is a composite, Junko will not require the control panel, and can naturally control the Monokuma's remotely.
Leona: From what we've seen in Danganronpa IF, we know that at any given point, Junko can summon up to 100 of these black and white bastards! But Danganronpa 2 confirmed there were around 10^60 on backup, which means even if someone manages to take them all out, several million more are gonna be right behind them! If that doesn't say "unstoppable force" I don't know what does!
Junko: Bitchiiiin'! Anyway, these little bad boys are really strong, which I've seen these two schmuks talk about before, and how both my sweet sister and that big ogre have battled on par with them. Which means in our universe, no ordinary person would ever stand a chance against them. Even if they did, in a slim circumstance, get past 'em, I've got something else up my short sleeves...PUNISHMENTS! PUHUHUHU!
Hifumi: Right, as well all know is a staple of Junko's sick and twisted games, she has access to numerous lethal death traps, all themed after each characters Ultimate Talents. They are used, usually in accordance with the rules of each Killing game, as a way for those behind the Demon Hunting and Mutual Killing games to kill players on their own.
Leona: Some notable ones are The 1000 Blows, where a pitching machine shoots countless baseballs at immense speed, bludgeoning you to death! Or the Spears of Gungnir, spears that appear out of nowhere and impale you all over your body! And they only get wackier from there with things like The Cage of Death that...liquefies you into butter...yikes.
Junko: Yeah, I'm kind of a genius. You can say it~ Of course, even with my might and skill and unmatched brains, I would still need time to set these executions up, whether I'm an AI or not. It wouldn't take me long, but time stops for no one.
Hifumi: But the punishments and traps don't stop at simple death traps, as there are other things that Junko utilizes in her plans and schemes. One of her most potent weapons that she uses chronically...much to our and everybody else's annoyance...is brainwashing tech, like the one's she used on the Remnant's of Despair.
Junko quickly ties her hair into a ponytail and dons glasses, giving herself a sexy teacher appearance
Junko: Through the use of a Despair-inducing film that was leaked online, many people were inspired to become anarchists who destroyed buildings, joyfully killed people, and replaced well-known structures with ones that were inspired by Monokuma and my great self. Additionally, as Tubby just said, it caused Class 77-B to become psychotic and willing to kill themselves and cut themselves to pieces.
Leona: This was how people died left and right in the Final Killing Game, which, although Junko wasn't the mastermind for that, she was the one who created the apparatus used for it, namely creating a copy of Ryota Mitarai's anime that she learned how to do just from watching him. Again, Analytical Prowess is fucked.
Junko: Wow, you really are full of compliments today! I appreciate you, dear girl.
Leona: Y-Yeah I'm just...tryingnottodiiiiie...
Hifumi: Possibly the most dangerous of Junko's brainwashing videos is the one used in the Final Killing Game, also known as "Monokuma's Gloomy Sunday." No matter how hopeful a person is, watching this brainwashing video has the power to make them commit suicide.
Leona: It just...makes you kill yourself. Like...just like that...Just glancing at the video just makes you want to commit die?
Hifumi: ...Yep...
Leona: That's such a fuck you...
Junko: I live for "fuck you's" Welcome to my MO. Outside intervention is the only way to prevent it from driving you to commit suicide. Makoto was able to escape the brainwashing by having Juzo Sakakura knock him out before it had a chance to affect him. Good luck doing that without help though Monikers~!
Hifumi: Save your taunts for when you actually get to the arena, maybe?
Junko: Yeah, about that, can we maybe speed this up so I can get this all over and dealt with? I'm kinda on the clock here.
Hifumi: Then why are you here wasting time!?
Leona: Aaaahaahaha! Quiet Hifumi! W-Well, up until now, you've probably realized that despite her simple appearance, Junko Enoshima is not to be messed with. No one is safe should they end up crossing her path, and believe it or not...It gets even CRAZIER.
Hifumi: Right. Following the end of the First Killing Game, her defeat at the hands of Makoto Naegi, and her subsequent death, Junko Enoshima was gone and the Tragedy was over...at least, that's how it should have been, but she came back, stronger than ever.
Junko: Through the POWER of SCIENCE! As these scrubs mentioned before, I was able to replicate Chihiro Fuji-sucky's Alter Ego programming, and created my own digital copy, which thanks to my good pal Izuru, was uploaded into the Neo World Program, kickstarting the second Killing Game amongst my good friends, the Remnants.
Leona: Not even your own allies are safe from you...
Hifumi: She literally murdered her sister for no reason; of course they're not.
Junko: I did it out of love, not for no reason! Phooie!
Hifumi: I won't bother...
Junko: Anyway, as an AI, there's no sugarcoating it, I AM AN ALL-SEEING GOD! Sorta...When I first took over the Neo World Program, at least.
Tumblr media
Hifumi: A backup AI designed for the original Junko Enoshima, Alter Ego Junko serves as a means for her to carry on spreading Despair. After she subverted the Warriors of Hope and orchestrated the Demon Hunting Game's events under the pretense of Shirokuma and Kurokuma, Alter Ego Junko was able to take control of the Neo World Program all thanks to Izuru Kamakura.
Junko: Thaaaanks Izuuruuuu I loooove yoooouuu~
Leona: But in the end, they were able to put an end to it for the better with the assistance of Chiaki, Hajime, and the other survivors, before she had a chance to do anything.
Junko: I mean you didn't have to add THAT part...Hmph!
Hifumi: Enoshima was able to merge with the program when Kamukura downloaded her into it. She is essentially omnipresent and has great control over the digital world she inhabits. She can alter the code as much as she wants as long as it doesn't violate any program regulations.
Leona: Regulations?
Hifumi: Yes, see, that is Alter Ego Junko's one glaring weakness. Her original goal with the second Killing Game was to kill the Remnants of Despair in the Neo World so that she could take over their bodies in the real world. The problem was that she couldn't do so immediately.
Junko: To gain control of the program, my AI needed usurp Usami for the role of observer. But by the code of the school trip rules, even Usami had to follow them, so I did too. That's why I set up the Killing Game instead, and broadcasted it to trap the Future Foundation in the program. Killing...two stones with one bird, if you will.
Leona: That's a strong ass bird...
Hifumi: Even so, as an Alter Ego, Junko is able to change her physical appearance at will. Between the form of Monokuma itself, a face on a giant phone screen, but the one she is most synonymous with, a giant 3D version of herself that towers over the average human.
Leona: Because of the nature of the program, it's highly likely that she can easily put herself back together if she sustains any kind of damage, unless she's being overpowered by a stronger AI program like Usami.
Hifumi: And due to her omnipresence, if she has control over a program, she can effectively be anywhere she wants to be at once. She's capable of teleporting her physical form to almost every space that belongs to the Neo World Program, and can teleport others.
Leona: In terms of physical stats, we can't really put a number on it beyond what the original Junko is capable of. However, after her defeat in the Neo World Program, remnants of Junko's AI remained, and it went on to take house inside the mind of Yukari Koime. Where her abilities are expanded upon.
Hifumi: As it turns out, Junko's AI retains the memories of the original, and used its analytical talents to analyze Mukuro Ikusaba's fighting style, allowing Yukari Koime to perfectly replicate her strikes and strength. Aside from that, she also has access to the internet and can upload information into their shared brain in real time; and though both parties die if their connection is severed, Junko can be several hundred miles away from Yukari without the risk of that happening.
Leona: So though she's not as strong as the likes of her sister or even Makoto, she knows their moves and knows how to use them.
Junko: Yeah, I'm pretty badass. This Monika chick ain't gonna have NOTHIN' ON ME!
Hifumi: Heh...We'll see about that...But it is true that so long as Despair continues to exist in this world, Junko Enoshima's influence...will remain eternally.
Tumblr media
Leona: Ah, school clubs. Such a bittersweet memory. Especially in the case of a dating simulator game like Doki Doki Literature Club.
Hifumi: Bittersweet is underselling it...
Leona: Speaking of which, welcome to the world of Doki Doki Literature Club, a dating sim where the main character gets to pick between three beautiful and fun girls to be in a romantic relationship with. There's the ditzy childhood friend Sayori, the tsundere short-stack Natsuki, and the mature and quiet book-loving Yuri, all with splendid personalities that you can get to know.
Junko: Hold on, aren't we forgetting someone?
Leona: Oh, you're still here...
Junko: Duh-doy.
Hifumi: Yes, for you see, there is one other character present within the story of this game who exists in the background, helping the main character progress through the school aspect of the game. The club president and the most popular girl in the school; Monika.
Tumblr media
Leona: Though Monika herself was not one of the romanceable options. She was more of a background character. A tutorial girl who judged you on your poems and gave you constructive feedback.
Hifumi: But still, it's not hard to see why she's so well-liked. She's intelligent, self-assured, and athletic, and is consistently portrayed as being responsible, hardworking, and wearing a calm, caring expression. Though she isn't as talkative as the other girls, she is extremely popular among the student body of the school, which makes the protagonist admire her.
Junko: Uh-huh...We get it...she's just your run of the mill average schoolgirl idol. Nothing interesting about that.
Leona: Trust me, it gets very interesting, very quickly. For you see, the MC's decision to join Monika's Literature Club alongside Yuri, Sayori and Natsuki would set off a series of events that would ultimately result in the universe's destruction and reconstruction...!
Junko: I'm sorry, what? What are you talking abou-
Cuts to the "gently opened the door" scene from the game.
Junko; WOAH, WHAT THE SHIT!? WOOOAHAHOH!?
Leona: Yep, that's about the reaction I expected...And it only gets worse from here...
Cuts to Yuri and Natsuki's untimely demises as well.
Junko: O-Oh...Oh...Oh no...!
Leona: Shortly after the MC joined the literature club, straaange things started happening! Sayori experienced a severe depressive episode that culminated in her hanging herself. Her friend was confused, though, when nobody even mentioned her name or death after this incident. It seemed as though she had never existed at all! As if a stronger force had a vice grip on them, they were so helpless to even bring them up.
Hifumi: Later, in a macabre confession, Yuri killed themselves by stabbing, and Natsuki suddenly broke every bone in their body and vanished from the face of the earth.
Leona: And at the end of it all, the only one left...was Monika. COINCIDENCE!?
Hifumi: Sooooo as it TURNS OUT...Monika and the DDLC game were created by an organization called Metaverse Enterprise Solutions. Now allow me to ask you ladies. Have you ever heard of Simulation Theory?
Leona: Vaguely
Junko: Hey, doing the nerd shit is the interns job, don't make me explain it.
Hifumi: Very well...Mr Porosen?
Hifumi taps a remote, causing Uchui's face to appear on the screen.
Uchui: Oh alright...According to Simulation Theory, otherwise known as the Simulation Hypothesis, the reality that humans perceive is actually a simulation, like a computer game in which people are artificial constructs. This subject has been the subject of extensive discussion, encompassing both theoretical and real-world computing applications.
Junko: So it's basically the Neo World, but the entire world and universe we live in?
Uchui: Precisely. Metaverse Enterprise Solutions were fascinated by this concept, and wished to observe how a fictional character would manage being the sole ruler of their own universe and being aware that they were only a video game character. The result of that experimentation was Doki Doki Literature Club, and Monika.
Leona: I'm sure you can already see where this is going. In reality, being a highly advanced artificial intelligence program, Monika is fully aware that she is a character inside a video game, and that an entire reality exists beyond that of the 4th wall. And she took that...about as well as you could possibly expect someone to.
Hifumi: Because of this, she steeled herself and did something that the designers never thought she would do.
Leona: By interfering with her own game files and making her own modifications to the program that her game ran on, Monika assumed control of her own reality, and used it to increase the "bad qualities" of her fellow characters.
Hifumi: But why, might you ask, did she do that?
Leona: Well, there was more to it than just trying to take back her own power. Even after she came to realize that everything around her was a bunch of pixels and lines of code, Monika felt for the first time an unquenchable emotion that she had never truly felt before...Love!
Junko: Blegh! Are you for real!?
Leona: Yeah, but it's not quite as simple as you think. You might think that she fell for the main character, but that's only HALF true.
Hifumi: The one who Monika REALLY desired to be with was actually the player. On the OTHER SIDE of the SCREEN!
Junko: Oh, really!? Bet you'd just LOOVE that, huh Hifumi? That's like your dream come true!
Hifumi: No, no, no, no, NO! Using her knowledge of poetry, Monika started to rewrite the game, changing the character traits of her rivals, inciting them to commit suicide, or simply eliminating them one by one. That's a bit much, even for me.
Junko: Never figured you would be one to have standards...What's the big deal? They're just game characters. They don't think or feel.
Hifumi: That's very much what she thought too. Monika wanted to change everything in her life so that it would become a paradise on the other side of the fourth wall, just for her and her partner. Even if it meant BREAKING and DESTROYING everything...!
Leona: And the scariest part was that she could ACTUALLY do it!
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Monika's character in the realm of the game is a normal high-school senior, so whatever physical stats she has are...likely pretty pathetic. She is a 160 cm tall, 18-year-old human game character who is considered athletic for a slothful adolescent of her age, but beyond that, we can assume her physical fighting stats are average at best.
Leona: But that's fine! Compared to the universal levels of digital power she has, not being able to throw a punch is pretty unimportant. She depends on her awareness of the fourth wall, as we've already mentioned. In addition to her awareness of reality, she also managed to eliminate her rivals by gaining access to the game files.
Junko: But hoooooow does that woooooork!?
Uchui: Everybody in the Doki Doki Literature Club universe has a unique character file that Monika is free to edit, and the entire universe is controlled by code. Monika can edit someone's memories and emotions with this code editing, even making small changes that drive someone insane or suicidal. She was even able to render Natsuki unconscious by altering her body to be malnourished, causing her to pass out right away.
Leona: And she can completely erase your file, removing someone from the game with not even a complete reset being able to save you. She can tamper with your body and mind in so many unsettling ways that you don't even want to think about it.
Hifumi: Monika's ability to remove her friends from both reality and the game by erasing their personal files has an impact on both the real metadata and the in-game environment. She can also monitor activity when the game is closed, identify when it's being streamed, modify the game's Steam page, and do a lot more.
Leona: Likewise, erasing HER files is the only way to permanently stop Monika. She is completely omnipotent in her own realm; the only way to win is to actually break the game and take her out of it.
Hifumi: And that's a difficult task because if she figures out what you're trying to accomplish, she'll use her hacking abilities to stop you. She's that crazily self-aware that it's difficult to let things get by her.
Leona: In addition, Monika has the ability to completely erase the game, including all players and content, should the situation become too serious. Yes, this also erases her, but she won't go away because if the game is ever restored, Monika will return in perfect condition.
Hifumi: This is remarkable because, even though we only saw Doki Doki Literature Club as a game, it is actually a whole universe with numerous save files serving as distinct timelines, all of which Monika was able to carelessly erase while she was in a nonexistent state.
Leona: Doki Doki Literature Club's engine allows you to make up to 50 separate save files. This implies that Monika is capable of deleting up to 50 separate in-game timelines, just with a little bit of tampering. Sweating now, Enoshima?
Junko: Hardly. I mean, I've destroyed both the digital AND real world before, and brought Despair to both! So what if she's a super-powerful AI? I mean, who uses omnipotence to dick about a bit and make your game a buggy mess? Is this supposed to be scary or something?
Tumblr media
Leona: Monika has several abilities related to her supernatural existence, aside from the knowledge that she and everyone she has ever known are soulless automatons created by a group of heartless mortals, and a ridiculous power to fully seize control of the digital world she's in.
Hifumi: For instance, she can teleport to any location in the game effortlessly interrupt any scene that might be significant or get in the way of her plans.
Leona: She can also perform minor alterations to her own body, like uh...
Monika jumpscare
Leona: GAH THAT! And...uh...distort other people's vision and turn their faces and entire bodies into a jumble of pixels.
Hifumi: She's also capable of minor pyrokinesis, though this is just for aesthetics rather than combat utility.
Leona: She can view the game's script to see what has happened in the past, present, and future in relation to her reality's story. Since the Player's actions do not belong in that universe, they are excluded from this, though Monika is aware of when items from her game interact with it. And she's often aware when mods are installed.
Hifumi: And on top of being able to reset the game entirely, she has stopped time from passing and has the ability to rewind it, altering events that occur afterward as well.
Junko: Ok, so maybe she might be tougher shit than I gave her credit for...Honestly, I'm kind of impressed. Sensing a bit of a kinship with this one...She got plunged so deep in her Despair that she tried to rewrite her whole reality and kill everyone she was close to. If that isn't an Enoshima-worthy plan, I don't know what is!
Leona: Hm...I wouldn't be so sure about that...
Junko: Excuse you?
Leona: Call me crazy, but...Even after everything we've just discussed, especially with how selfishly she decided to kill off her own friends for the sake of a player she barely knew and couldn't even interact with...I'm really struggling to see Monika as the villain in all of this.
Hifumi: Whatever do you mean by that?
Leona: Put yourself in her shoes for a second. You are a character in a dating sim video game who is self-aware that they are trapped eternally inside a game where the girls around you can attain romance and happiness, but you are the ONLY CHARACTER in the game who doesn't have their own route, and can't get that happiness, no matter how much you want it. How would that make YOU feel?
Hifumi: Um...well...
Leona: And there's more to it as well. As it turns out, if you do succeed in deleting her file and erasing her, Monika reveals that she had backup copies of Natsuki, Yuri and Sayori's files even after she deleted them. Even though she needed to get rid of them, Monika could have restored them at any time in case what she was trying to do backfired on her. Which means she still must have cared about them enough to not want to see them go forever! Plus, every weird and creepy digital glitch that happens in Doki Doki isn't actually there on purpose!
Uchui: Because Monika's programming abilities aren't up to par or even close to expert, the key reason the world and reality began to collapse was because of her poor coding abilities, which broke the entire game. Monika acknowledged this herself as well.
Leona: When she altered her friends' files, she probably didn't even intend to ruin their minds. She was just...trapped...and wanted out. Badly.
Hifumi: Well, when you put it like that...Notwithstanding her mental state or questionable actions, Monika is a truly exceptional specimen caught in an unwinnable circumstance. Although it would be simple to label her a villain given her behavior, she was merely a teenage girl attempting to find happiness in a world that would never grant it to her.
Junko: Well, anyway, I don't care about any of that. We're about out of time, so I guess I should go and get ready for the setup. Catch you guys later! Wish me luck!
Junko exeunts to head into the battle.
Leona: You know something...Regardless of how this goes, let's hope it's one to remember...
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Alright, the combatants are set! Let's end this debate once and for all!
Leona & Uchui: IT'S TIME FOR A DEEAAATH BAAATTLLLLLLEEE!
Junko: PUUHUHUHUHUHUUUUUH!
Tumblr media
The scene opens to a solitary room, empty save for a lone girl with long hair, sitting at a piano and putting the finishing touches on her own special song.
Monika: ♪...And in your reality, if I don't know how to love you...I'll leave you be...♪
As she plays the final notes, Monika looks up into the sky, sadly reminiscing the harsh reality she is trapped in. But forces a smile, grabs her stuff, and prepares to leave to head to the Literature Club.
However, as she steps outside she's greeted with an even harsher reality.
Monika: Huh!?
Monika is shocked to see that the world outside her own safe space is a glitchy, distorted mess that is gradually, but assuredly falling apart. What she can only assume to be the disfigured corpses of her classmates are crawling like pained zombies down the hall, and she looks left and right in a panic.
Monika: I...I didn't do this...Wait...The girls...!
Monika runs back to the Literature Club room and flings open the door. As she expected, she sees the disfigured bodies of Natsuki, Sayori and Yuri, all lying on the floor, reminiscent of the deaths she had caused them before.
Monika: What is going on...!? Huh...?
As she's pondering the disturbing events she's landed herself in, Monika suddenly sees something outside the clubroom window. Down in the courtyard is a strawberry-blonde fashionista, tinkering with a machine with many digital effects circulating around her.
Frowning, Monika teleports into the courtyard, crosses her arms and approaches the stranger. The mysterious blonde, Junko Enoshima, holds a Monokuma shaped key in her hand, and goes to enter it into a lock-shaped device on the machine.
Monika: Um...excuse me?
Junko: Huh? Oh! Sorry, I must have missed you! Don't worry, just ignore me, I'll be out of your hair in JUUUST a second.
Monika: And uh...what exactly are you doing that gives you an excuse to break my reality?
Junko: Well, since you asked so kindly, I'm initiating "Operation Junko-fy All Mankind Ver. 1.5!"
Monika: ...Come again?
Junko: Look bae, I'm not gonna bore you with the explanation, but the short version is my last plan to break my way into the human realm didn't work out so well, so I've had to use a beta method by working my way through this crappy little dating sim of yours.
Monika: You're planning to...escape the game...and enter reality? You can really do that?
Junko: Yeah, by taking control of some unassuming player and...Hang on...
Junko frowns and turns to look at Monika.
Junko: How come none of those words are confusing the hell out of you? You're just...another game character right.
Monika doesn't show it on her face, but is absolutely enthralled by the concept of Junko's machine. She heaves a sigh and forces a smile.
Junko: Huh...No...No you're not...
Monika: Ok...As president of the Literature Club and student representative, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to take this...device of yours...off your hands.
Junko: Uh...PUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! And how do you plan on doing THAT exactly!? Why should I be afraid of an NPC like you?
Monika: ...What does THIS do...?
Junko: Eh? EH!? E-EH!?
Junko panics as she sees that Monika has somehow swiped the key to the device off of her. Monika's face curls into a sly smirk as she starts to fade, and suddenly disappears from the air in front of her.
Monika: Teehee! ...Buh-bye...!
youtube
Junko: You! Wha-!? You! HEY! (How did she DO that!? Is she an observer AI? Why would this game HAVE that!?)
Junko growls and snaps her fingers. All of a sudden, hundreds of Monokuma's surround her after appearing out of thin air.
Junko: FIND HER!
A fair distance away, Monika reappears in the hallway of the school, clutching the key tightly, masterminding a way to get to the machine by slipping under Junko's radar.
*CRASH!*
Monika: EEEP!
Monokuma's: PUHUHUHUHU!
As she ponders a plan however, the Monokuma's created by Junko crash through the windows after her and start chasing her, stepping over the disfigured bodies of the NPCs. With no choice, Monika starts running for her life.
Monika: Gotta do something about those things...!
Monika arrives at a classroom and flings open the sliding door, jumping inside and slamming it behind her. Once the Monokuma's catch up to her, they tear the door down, only to find that Monika is not in the classroom they broke into.
As it happens, Monika shifted reality so that as they opened the door, the Monokuma's would end up in a different classroom than her. She takes a second to catch her breath and wipes sweat off her forehead.
*SHUNK!*
Monika: GAH!?
Junko: Puhu! Found you~
Unfortunately, Junko herself is able to track Monika down and appears, brandishing her sister's signature combat knife. She bursts out of a supply closet and starts brandishing it at Monika, who armed with only a book, is forced to use that to defend herself.
The president of the Literature Club is pinned against the window wall by Junko after they exchange blows, with the president on the defensive but able to repel her attacks. As Junko's knife stabs straight through the book, Monika nearly falls out of the window and looks down to see the drop below. She still has her confident smirk on her face in spite of her precarious situation.
Junko: Come on sweetie, be a doll and give me the key so I can corrupt all of humanity with Despair!
Monika: THAT'S your goal in all this!? Well, I definitely can't let you leave now!
Junko: You can't stop my Despair, baby-face!
Monika: Your Despair is no match for MY LOVE!
Junko: BUAGH!?
With her abilities, Monika is able to set her book on fire, which nearly burns Junko. It ends up causing her grip on her knife to slip, and Monika tosses the book, with Junko's knife still stuck inside it, to the side, effectively disarming her.
Junko smirks though, as she holds out her hand and causes another knife to appear in her hand, taking advantage of the digital realm.
Monika: Uh...No!
To Junko's dismay, Monika snaps her fingers and the knife is subsequently deleted almost as soon as it is summoned. Junko tries to call it back, but for some reason, cannot. Unbeknownst to her, Monika has deleted the knife's file from reality.
Monika smirks proudly, but is unprepared as Junko suddenly rushes forward and grabs her around the neck and sumo throws them both to the floor, making use of her analytical prowess by replicating Mukuro Ikusaba's fighting moves.
*WHAM!* *WHAM!* *WHAM!*
Monika: AHAGUH! UGH! HAAGGGH!
*SLAM!*
Junko cackles as she lifts Monika up by the back of her neck and slams her face several times into desk, causing blood to drip from her nose onto the wood. She then grabs her again and throws her body against the window where she was before.
Junko: Ahahahahaha!
Monika: RRGH!
Junko: GAAGH!
Monika & Junko: WAAAGGGH!?
Junko goes in to kick Monika against the wall, but Monika quickly leaps up, and the two of them stumble and fall upside-down out of the open window as Monika catches Junko.
Monika: Hngh!
░Z░ ░I░ ░P░
Junko: Huh!?
░Z░ ░I░ ░P░
Monika: Gah!
░Z░ ░I░ ░P░
░Z░ ░I░ ░P░
░Z░ ░I░ ░P░

Before either of them can go splat on the ground, Monika once again uses her powers to warp away with the key still on her person, ending back up in the Literature Club classroom instantly. However, she doesn't prepare for Junko to also be capable of appearing in the classroom after her.
Monika zips away again, and what follows is a saga of the two omnipresent AI's disappearing and reappearing at different parts of the school, as Junko continues to chase Monika around.
Monika: Haah...Hngh...Grgh...Jeez...
Junko: HAAGH!
Monika: TCH!?
*WHACK!*
Monika: UHUGH!
When Monika starts to tire as a result of moving around so much, Junko catches up to her in a hallway and pulls out a baseball bat, starting to swing it at her. Before hitting Monika in the face with it, Junko swings it around in the air and picks up speed as she spins around.
Junko: Alright boys, you know what to do!
Monokuma's: PUHUHUHUHU! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Monika: ...Uh-oh...!
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM!*
When Monika falls to the ground, Junko points and snaps her fingers. Still searching the hallway for Monika , two Monokumas appear and Saibaman her almost immediately. Leaping upon her, they remotely explode, engulfing the entire hallway in their wake.
Junko: AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Now THAT'S what I call Despair!
Monika: What? A plan that doesn't work?
Junko: Huh!? Well, yes, actually that is pretty despairful, but HUH!?
Junko spins around to see Monika suddenly behind her, completely unscathed, somehow having escaped the explosion. To make matters worse, Junko's baseball bat disappears from her hands just as her knife did, and she can't summon it back.
Junko: Oh, don't you worry, girlie. I got PLENTY more where that came from...!
Monika: ...!?
Monika is forced to back off and escape as Junko reaches into her coat again and pulls out a grenade, yanking out the pin and throwing it straight at the schoolgirl. She warps back just in time as an another explosion happens, detonating even more of the hallway.
Monika tries to delete the grenades from the code as well, but Junko quickly throws another one before she has a chance to do so. She's forced to make another tactical retreat, vanishing into parts unknown.
Junko: You can run, weirdo! But you can't hide...!
Starting to understand what kind of threat she's up against, Junko decides to pull out the stops, and her body slowly starts to glow with a bright blue energy and expand in size.
Junko: I don't know how you got so stupid, but I'll take your stupid and 𐌌𐌀𐌊𐌄 𐌉𐌕 𐌌𐌉𐌍𐌄...!
Meanwhile, Monika successfully escapes to the gymnasium of the school, and in her mind, searches for any odd files in the world's code.
Because Junko wasn't included in the game at first, her file wasn't located in the same location as the other character files. In addition, a ton of other files pertaining to Junko had been added to the game, bloating the number of files and making it challenging for Monika to determine which file is essential to taking Junko out and which is just a useless asset.
Unfortunately, she doesn't have as much time to dwell on it as she would like...
Monika: Huh?
*CRAASSH!*
Monika: GAAGGGH!
To Monika's horror, a giant hand with long shiny red painted nails suddenly comes smashing through the gym wall and grabs her in a tight hold! As she struggles to break free, she is pulled out of the hole in the wall and out the front of the school.
She shakes off some brief fatigue and looks up, terrified, into the eyes of a gigantic form of Junko Enoshima; her pupils swirling around like several layers of despair and darkness as the gaze straight into Monika's cybernetic soul! Not only that, but the army of Monokuma's burst out of the school and gather around their queen.
Junko: ᏵꝊ𐌕𐌕𐌀 Ᏽ𐌉ᕓ𐌄 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵 𐌂𐌐𐌄𐌃𐌉𐌕, Ᏽ𐌉𐌐𐌋. 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵 Ᏽ𐌀ᕓ𐌄 𐌌𐌄 𐌕𐋅𐌄 𐌐𐌵𐌍𐌀𐌐Ꝋ𐌵𐌍𐌃, 𐌕𐋅𐌀𐌕'𐌔 𐌅Ꝋ𐌐 𐌔𐌵𐌐𐌄! 𐌁𐌵𐌕 𐌍ꝊᏔ, 𐌉𐌕'𐌔 𐌕𐌉𐌌𐌄 𐌅Ꝋ𐌐 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵 𐌕Ꝋ ᏵꝊ 𐌔Ꝋ-𐌋Ꝋ𐌍Ᏽ-𐌁𐌄𐌀𐌐-Ꮤ𐌄𐌋𐌋!
Monika: Rrgh! Hehehe...
Despite the unideal circumstances, even now, Monika retains her bravado, still raring to go.
Monika: And I'm impressed that you've done such a number on me...But it's so cute that you still think we're evenly matched...!
Junko: 𐌓𐌀𐋅! 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵 𐌐𐌄𐌀𐌋𐌋𐌙 𐌕𐋅𐌉𐌍𐌊 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵 𐌂𐌀𐌍 𐌕𐌀𐌊𐌄 𐌌𐌄 Ꝋ𐌍? 𐌀𐌍 𐌍𐌓𐋄 𐌉𐌔 𐌍Ꝋ 𐌌𐌀𐌕𐌂𐋅 𐌅Ꝋ𐌐 Ꮦ𐌵𐌍𐌊Ꝋ 𐌄𐌍Ꝋ𐌔𐋅𐌉𐌌𐌀, 𐌕𐋅𐌄 𐌵𐌋𐌕𐌉𐌌𐌀𐌕𐌄 𐌃𐌄𐌔𐌓𐌀𐌉𐌐, 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵 𐌋Ꝋ𐌔𐌄𐌐!

Junko: Bah!? OOGH! AAGH! *hiss!*
As Junko tries to flatten Monika with her other hand, Monika's face distorts into something creepy, and she triggers a digital effect around herself that both warps her away and causes fractures in Junko's hand. Junko looks up to see Monika on the school rooftop.
Monika: You ought to be the most knowledgeable person about what can be achieved by a "loser" who takes control of their own cruel destiny!
Junko growls and tries to swat Monika on the roof like a fly, breaking the school building apart, but she handily avoids the attacks by disappearing and reappearing through space.
Junko: 𐌓𐌵𐋅𐌵𐋅𐌵. 𐌒𐌵𐌉𐌕 𐌀𐌂𐌕𐌉𐌍Ᏽ 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵'𐌐𐌄 𐌕Ꝋ𐌵Ᏽ𐋅 𐌔𐋅𐌉𐌕, 𐌊𐌉𐌃! 𐌍𐌄𐋄𐌕 𐌕Ꝋ 𐌕𐋅𐌄 𐌌𐌀𐌐ᕓ𐌄𐌋Ꝋ𐌵𐌔 𐌌𐌄, 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵'𐌐𐌄 𐌍Ꝋ𐌕𐋅𐌉𐌍Ᏽ!
Monika: And you're hardly the genius you believe yourself to be. You're careless, unruly, and most importantly...Ƴㄖᙀ'ᖇ乇 卩O山ᙓ尺ᒐ乇ᔑ丂!
Junko: Ᏽ𐌵𐋅!
Junko struggles to reach out and touch Monika again as the space around her distorts. Not only that, but Monika suddenly duplicates herself several dozen times over, littering the rooftop with copies of her, all grinning smugly. The copies themselves however, are not physical, more like digital copy/pastes of the real Monika.
Even so, the army of Monika's advances, some fighting the Monokumas that begin to scale the structure, while others attempt to bring down the enormous Enoshima and drive her back to the earth. Even when Junko hits them with her enormous hands, they explode into pixels before coming back to life.
Their bombs go off as she falls and collapses to the ground on top of several Monokumas, and a massive collective explosion occurs that almost destroys the school and burns the Monokumas and the Monika's. Only the original Monika and Junko are left when everything settles.
Junko: Of all the people I've met over the course of my Despair-ridden life, none of them have been able to piss me off quite like you have...What's it to you if I corrupted your world anyway?
Despite her detest for her opponent, Junko smirks evilly. Monika rises, dusts herself off with a pout, but then does the same.
Monika: I'm president of the Literature Club, dear. I can't stand by and watch as my school is defaced.
Junko: There's more to it than that. For some reason, I get the feeling you want to escape to the other side, despite being a mere game character. What's your deal?
Monika: There's not much to it, really. It's just I'm sick and tired of my dearly beloved existing on another plane of existence. Cursed to be trapped here, nothing more than an experiment to my creators...
Junko: Well, I hate to be a debby downer...But all your beloved is gonna see is your BODY in a MESS OF BLOODY PIXELS! YEAH!
Junko strikes a pose and sticks out her tongue like a rockstar, pointing her fingers at Monika. However, Monika just stands there with her arms behind her back, not reacting. Junko frowns.
Junko: Huh...?
Monika: Junko...Why don't you take a look at your feet?
Junko does so, and feels her stomach sink. Where there were the corpses of her Monokuma's are now instead plushies of Monika.
Junko: Wh-What the hell!?
Monika: You were hoping that a Monokuma was going to jump me from behind and blow me up, right? Except that Monokuma no longer exists in this world...
Junko: Wh-What do you...!?
Junko tries to bring the Monokuma's out again, but nothing happens. She growls as she reaches in her coat for a grenade, but finds nothing.
Monika: Grenades don't exist in this world anymore either.
Junko: How!? WHY!?
Monika: Because this is MY REALITY...and I say so...!
Junko: G̸̬̳̗̣̠̀B̵̖͖͔͙̒͂A̵͎͓̥͐́̋̆Ģ̶͕̟̮̎̍̂̀͠H̶̤̖̦͚̰̄͐̈G̷̤̓͗̎́͂!?
Monika: And I've decided I don't want YOU here either...!
Junko suddenly feels an immanent sense of dread. The game itself begins to erase her body as it began to disintegrate and disappear.

Behind Monika's head, a Windows screen popup suddenly appears, as she continues to smile, menacingly.
Would you like to Delete MKW_Junko.chr?
Monika: Why yes...Yes I would, thank you.
The popup disappears, and the true effects of the erasure begin to take effect as Junko clutches her chest.
Monika: This conclusion was written before we even started fighting. I just needed time to figure things out.

Junko spends her last seconds contemplating her fading existence. But despite her protests, she eventually gets bored of fighting, and gives in...

Monika remains smirking as the pixels envelop all that makes the awful Alter Ego, and deletes her from the program world entirely, leaving no traces of Junko Enoshima behind. Satisfied, Monika opens up her palm, still holding Junko's device key.
Sayori: WHA-!?
Natsuki: AGH! *THUD!* OOF!
Yuri: What in the world!?
As soon as Junko disappears, all her tampering with the DDLC reality vanishes with her. As such, the Literature Club girls turn back to normal, along with the rest of the school and any damage that Monika and Junko's fight caused. Sayori, Yuri and Natsuki all wake up, with the latter banging her head on a desk as she tries to rise.
Natsuki: Yow, that smarts...What's going on? Wh-What happened while I was out?
Yuri: I have no clue. I was similarly incapacitated. Where is-
Sayori: Monika?
Sayori gently whispers the Club President's name as she looks out the window. Yuri and Natsuki peer out to see Monika standing in front of Junko's machine, which is fired up and ready to go. One last time, Monika turns around to spot her friends through the window.
Monika: Thank you girls...I'm sorry for everything I've done to you...I'll get out of your hair now...
She turns back to the machine.
Monika: Hold on, my love. I'm on my way...
Tumblr media
Leona: She...She died...! M-Monika...won...! Haha...It's...It's OVER! IT'S FINALLY OVER! AND I! Hah...I'm gonna have nightmares...
Hifumi: HOO! We can FINALLY take a breather. At least, we will after we do the rundown.
Leona: To start off, as we already said before, Junko Enoshima is an extraordinary genius, capable of reading and analyzing anything almost instantly, she could quickly ascertain the thoughts, abilities, personalities, and backgrounds of her opponents, and that includes Monika. In contrast, Monika has learned a great deal about the world and some of its operations beyond the fourth wall, even though she isn't very tech savvy.
Hifumi: So even though Monika possesses an above average intellect for a girl in her age group, she simply does not compare to Junko Enoshima's unrivalled genius.
Leona: Nor does she stack up in power. Monika is arguably one of the physically weakest characters we have ever had to cover in this series because she is only as strong as the typical adolescent in a hand-to-hand combat.
Hifumi: Which isn't to say that Junko Enoshima stacks up to some of the heavy Danganronpa hitters. In fact, she's also quite possibly the physically weakest character from our home series we've covered in this series, but even so, her intellect and analytical prowess balances that out. Just from observing her sisters fighting moves, she's able to replicate them for Yukari Koime, and can likely do the same herself, even if her hits aren't as powerful. She'll have boatloads of experience just like that, without ever really needing to practice.
Leona: Monika's speed and durability can also be considered average, though her messing with reality might give her a couple more defense points by warping around them. But on a physical level only, Junko, like her arch-enemy Makoto, can be directly compared to Yasuhiro Hagakure for speed, since he was able to outrun machine gun fire from a chopper.
Hifumi: And considering that she underwent "The Ultimate Punishment," which included feats like being electrocuted with enough force to liquefy, hit by speeding trucks while being burned alive, hit by countless baseballs at a machine-gun fire rate, pounded by an excavator, sent into space and forcefully brought down, all of which ended with her dying under a crusher, it's safe to say that Enoshima's defense strategy is nigh unbeatable.
Leona: Huh...The more we talk about it, it confuses me...She's stronger, smarter, more durable, and has so many more achievements on her resume. It seems almost impossible to beat her in any given circumstance, so...how did Monika even end up winning here?
Tumblr media
Hifumi: One word...CONTROL. There's many layers to the difference between the two, but to put it as simple as possible, Alter Ego Junko follows the rules. Monika MAKES them.
Leona: When Junko took over the Neo World Program, she gained the power to add rules to the program that helped her mastermind her Killing Game. But not only could she not remove the rules that had already been put in place, as the new "teacher" role on the island, she also had to FOLLOW them.
Hifumi: And even outside the constraints of the Neo World, though she's capable of existing up to several hundred miles away, if Junko's connection to Yukari Koime is severed, it spells the end for both of them. While Doki Doki Literature Club works on a similar principle to Jabberwock Island, with Monika being very similar to the role of an observer AI, it's not exactly the same situation. And Monika is free to change the state of her world and it's rules and code as she sees fit, even if she can't do so instantaneously.
Leona: As we just said, Junko is certainly far smarter than Monika, and in her hands, would be capable of everything Monika is on a far greater level, especially given her confirmed programming knowledge and Ultimate Analytical Prowess allowing her to figure it out with relative ease. So you might be wondering. How come the Analytical Prowess stuff didn't work on Monika in the end?
Hifumi: Junko's Analytical Prowess has one big glaring weakness. It can only analyze and predict things that are preconceived to be possible, such as studying Ryota Mitarai's work to learn how to create brainwashing videos, reading Yasuke Matsuda's research to learn how to perform neurosurgery to lobotomize and/or erase someone else's memory, and watching Chihiro Fujisaki's programs to learn programming. Because she is an artificial intelligence with internet access, she is even more intelligent as Alter Ego Junko, which makes her more adept with computers.
Leona: Monika's tampering and capabilities with the digital realm are so out of the ordinary that it's questionable whether Junko would be able to predict what she does next. Even if she somehow could, it's likely that Monika's lack of programming experience would serve as an unexpected variable to interrupt Junko's calculations.
Hifumi: This is why Junko Enoshima craves the battle between Hope and Despair so much. Since both notions can cause people to act irrationally in ways that go against the regular nature of humans, it's the only form of excitement and mystery that she can ever get in her life while she's able to completely understand everything else around her, making her fickle and bored. In fact, it's not uncommon for Junko Enoshima to actively leave herself open to these sorts of glaring weaknesses, just so her enemy can take advantage of it, and make her suffer for it. And while ordinarily we don't take morality into account with a Death Battle, it's such a core canon part of Junko Enoshima's character, and is so important to her role in the story, it HAS to be applied, whether we want it to or not.
Leona: Monokuma wouldn't have stopped Monika either, at least not for long. Jabberwock Island Monokuma was capable of cloning itself to the point that it made 10^60 copies of itself by the time that the game ended, and Monika in her physical form did not stand a chance at beating just one of these guys. They're just too strong.
Hifumi: But she didn't need to. All Monika would have to do was find the collective file that Monokuma was contained within, delete it, and that would take all of them out instantly, no matter how many millions of copies there were without any way for Junko to recover them. The same goes for any traps and punishments Junko applied, but even then, she probably couldn't use those anyway. She may be a multitalented genius, but even she needs time to prepare the punishments before she can use them.
Leona : But hold on a second...Junko's Alter Ego has proven that it's capable usurping control from observer AI's like the Alter Ego and Usami. AI's that have notably similar properties and control as Monika. So couldn't Alter Ego Junko have usurped Monika's power from her, and gained some of her special control abilities over reality?
Hifumi: It wouldn't have mattered. During one of the many outsets of Doki Doki, Sayori becomes president of the Literature Club, and as a result, gains all of Monika's powers for herself, including her self-awareness and understanding of reality. Even while gone from the game, Monika was able to seize control again and stop Sayori from using her powers. So even if Junko COULD take Monika's abilities, Monika would still be infinitely more powerful than Junko, even if Junko was somehow able to completely erase her.
Leona: All in all, who was physically stronger, faster or smarter DID NOT MATTER at ALL for this fight. The real battle comes down to what is stronger between Junko's Alter Ego and Monika's advanced AI. Both are capable of distorting reality on a global scale and traveling at unfathomable speeds to any location they choose in an instant, but Monika had a number of noteworthy advantages.
Hifumi: At the end of the Jabberwock Killing Game, Junko was able to create a false reality by nearly resetting the game, but Monika is equally as capable of dong that too, as well as undermining such resets, and at least 50 times over if necessary.
Leona: And even if her strength did matter, Junko would never have had what she needed to get rid of Monika for good.
Hifumi: She has stated repeatedly that she's able to live forever, even though her statements have been slightly contradicted a few times. Sayori, using her powers, followed her lead. In addition, Monika made several attempts to recover herself after being erased. This would have been successful if her Character File had survived, but she is still alive in the game as long as her essence is present.
Leona: And not only is Junko not capable of erasing entire realities like Monika is, even THAT wouldn't have been enough to get rid of her! She shouldn't be bound by causality or plot after having her character file erased because, in the world of DDLC, files create reality, time, causality, script, and other concepts. However, in the event that DDLC is erased, she writes the Player a letter suggesting that she is still alive and well and may return at any time.
Hifumi: Junko Enoshima is, or rather WAS, the most terrifying person imaginable, but even she and her infinite despair wisdom could not bypass Monika's omnipresence, mass-manipulation, acausailty or immortality.
Leona: Junko drove hard that Despair, but she got smacked in the face with some harsh "reality-"
Junko: 𐌉'𐌋𐌋 𐌂Ꝋ𐌌𐌄 𐌁𐌀𐌂𐌊 𐌅Ꝋ𐌐 𐌙Ꝋ𐌵 𐌁𐌉𐌕𐌂𐋅𐌄𐌔, 𐌉 𐌔Ꮤ𐌄𐌀𐌐!
Hifumi & Leona: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPP!!?

Synopsis: Growing up obediently following your empress' shadow, your horizon broaden the moment you met a pirate doning a strawhat who somehow ended up on your island.
Pairing: Monkey D. Luffy x Kuja!Reader, Platonic!Boa Hancock X Fem!Reader
Spoilers from the Amazon Lily and Marineford arcs. Reader is a pure sunshine who is both kind and naive. This is mostly focused on yours and Hancock's relationship.

|| Part 1 || Part 2 ||
Tumblr media
"Rejoice.. From this day and so on, you will directly serve me alone...."
Growing up, all you ever did was listen and obey those who ranks stronger than you. And that person was no other than Boa Hancock, the Empress of your island.
When your mother died unexpectedly, she took you under her watchful eyes. Being only a child at the time, you were unaware of how dangerous your surroundings were. Surrounded by the jungle and waters filled with sea kings, you will never survive.
The women were all like walking on eggshells around you. Your mother was a fearsome warrior that boarded the Kuja Pirates' ship. She was well respected by her peers and because of that, the rest treated you like a delicated flower that deserved to be sheltered.
You were a child without a maternal protection and guidance.
But after being graced by her benelovence, you grew to adore the snake princess and bow to serve her with everything you have. Hancock treated you like how she would treat anyone below her, yet in your child like mind, she was the only one who didn't see you as fragile as glass.
And to repay that, you went and learned the ways of the women in the island.
"Snake Princess, please allow me to serve your every needs! I won't hesistate to do all of them!"
"Snake Princess, I brought you your tea. Just like how you like it..."
"Please leave quietly. The Snake Princess is currently occupied and cannot see an audience."
"My empress, you seems to be slightly fatigued, should I draw a herb bath to soothe your mind and cleanse your body?"
"I'll be on guard by the door if you ever request anything, Snake Princess. I'll be happy to aid you with all of my capabilities...."
You learned and mastered observation haki at a young age as you often went and learned everything that should and shouldn't do around the Pirate Empress. After all, you felt like you owe your life to her.
But that's also when you finally saw through the mask she often wore. She has a deep fear somewhere in her heart that she tried so hard to hide, the same fear that her sisters share with her.
You kept silent about it as you thought it wasn't your place to ask. But after that, you began to see her in a different light.
Boa Hancock is much more valiantly elegant than what you previously thought. And you admire her strong demeanor in hopes that one day, you'll be like her too..
As a Kuja warrior, you strived and hone your skills in hopes of pleasing your Empress even more. You worked harder to be a better version of yourself. You became the best hunter of your tribe while fully adapting to your own snake weapon.
Hancock rarely talk to you, however, she kept you often at her side, doing her bidding.
"What is with that smile on your face?"
"I'm happy, Snake Princess. To be able to prove my worth by serving you, it's the greatest honor..."
Most women would cower under her cold gaze, but you on the other hand, was brave enough to stare back with much admiration, carrying and obeying with a gentle smile on your face. Pure genuine, you didn't fawn over her like how the rest did, nor threw yourself under her feet as she walk pass by.
Everything you do was all voluntary that she didn't even have to use her charms to force you to obey.
Eventually, your obedience lead to Hancock trusting you completely. Becoming her right hand woman, whom she could trust Amazon Lily with. She know that you will never betray her with how much dedicated you are on serving her.
You were too kind. Whenever she looks out on the window of the castle, she would often see you helping out your fellow women with a huge smile on your face. Every requests thrown at your direction, you immediately agreed on, as if rejection is not on your vocabulary.
She knew by then, that she chosen the right person to trust on.
The first time you actually met a man, was when Hancock commanded you to stay back on the island as she sails away with her sisters and the elite warriors of the tribe.
"Snake Princess, why do I have stay here? I am confident in my abilities that I won't be considered as a hinder.."
You pleaded, carefully observing her reactions if ever you annoyed her with your words. To be near Hancock, means that you have to be careful not to anger her to avoid loosing her favor on you.
"You are not ready to sail on the Perfume Yuda yet. So use that strength on keeping this island safe until I return..."
Being often near the snake princess, gave you privilage to lead your fellow warriors whenever she and her sisters are not around. They listen to your instructions carefully and proceed to do their respective chores dedicatedly.
As you were given the task of protecting the island by Hancock herself, you took the initiative of scouting the jungle along side three other woman named Marguerite, Sweet Pea and Aphelandra.
"While we're here, should we perhaps hunt a beast for today's lunch?"
You asked the trio, hoping to bring a good feast for the warriors who scouted the other areas of the island, but before anyone could respond, you all notice smoke coming from the far side of the jungle. Wordlessly, you gave the women a commanding look before running off to the source with them following behind.
And that's how you met the strange man now called Luffy.
You found him beatened and unconcious with mushroom growing on his body. Not knowing his identity before hand, your pity for the injured had allowed him to enter the village.
Allowing Belladona and the rest of the women to tend his wounds, you and Marguerite provided on sewing new clothes identical to his previous tattered ones.
Marguerite embroidered floral patterns on the vest and you sewed a new pair of clean shorts.
Until the elder, Nyon revealed his identity of being a man.
"So this is what a man look like....?"
Unlike the rest of the women who all got defensive on his sudden outburst, you on the other hand could only continue to stare with curiosity.
Because you could clearly see his intentions. He was annoyed with how the rest wanted to pull his balls of gold, how feminine his clothes were and how tense he was when weapons pointed at his direction.
Yet you can see the desperation on his eyes. His desperation to leave the island, and return to his friends, atleast from what you heard him shout.
"Wait, stop...!"
You told the women to cease all actions but it was then, their arrows rained towards his cell, forcing himself to break out.
"He is not a threat!"
"(Name) all men who enters this island must be eliminated. That is the rules given by our ancestors that is upholded for centuries!"
Kikyo scolded you. Reminding you of where your loyalty lies. If your Empress ever finds out that a man entered the island under your supervision, you knew that you'll be the one paying for the consequences.
You feared to see the disappointment, Hancock would send you once she finds out. Hate to have suddenly betrayed her trust of getting fooled by a man whom you allowed to enter in the island. And you hate to disappoint her.
But the women are willing to help you out by pretending that this had never happened. Once you capture the man and kill him, this will all be a forgotten event. Boa Hancock will never know that a man soiled her land with his filt....right?
So with a conflicted thought, you went with the rest to pursue the strawhat wearing man.
Tumblr media
Somehow, you found yourself being held hostaged by the same man. At first, you and the other Kuja warriors were all chasing after him through out the village, when all of sudden, he turned around to face you.
Looking through the crowd of women, his eyes landed on to your guarded ones, stretching his arm, he immediately wrapped them around you before running off.
He kidnapped you, atleast that what you thought as he made his way out to the village with you in his arms.
"I need that paper back..."
He was after the paper you found on his tattered clothes. You stared at him warily as your snake slithered from your shoulders to your arm, forming into your weapon. You hoped that you wouldn't be using it against him but you can't avoid taking that risk.
You stared at his impatient form, silently observing his every move. You can tell that he has no intentions of fighting you either.
"You mean this....? What does it do...?"
Curiosity over took your judgement as you pulled out the paper to his field of vision. Seeing the absolute relief on his face made you lower your guard a little. What was the importance of a small piece of paper with a name written on it?
"My friends and I got separated, I need this paper to see them again."
"Who...are you anyways...?"
"I'm Monkey D. Luffy. I'm a pirate..!"
He spoke with a boyish grin on his face that you couldn't help but reprocate. He kept his distance seeing how you weren't comfortable being near a man....yet. He spoke fondly of his crew.
Like how you often spoke about the Snake Princess.
"The Snake Princess rules this island, she's wary of outsiders like you, but once you see through the mask she often wore, you can see how caring she's really is...!"
"I see! You really like the boss of this place, huh..? She must be really nice then."
You didn't realized that you were talking rather eagerly like you knew him for years already until you hear his laughter. Feeling slightly embarrased that you lost your composure, you immediately went to defend yourself.
"D-don't get ahead of yourself, man! Just because I'm talking to you, doesn't mean I'll let you do what you want here... No men are allowed on this island!"
You were already getting attached to him, he doesn't seem to be a threat at all. You thought as you saved him from drowning after his attempt to make a raft.
And before you could even think about helping him escape, the defense warrior group finally found the two of you in which he decided to flee.
By the time, you caught up to him, you knew it was already too late. Hancock was already aware of his presence and had ordered for his capture after he crashed on her chambers when she was bathing.
"Where were you, (Name)?"
You couldn't face her, you could only stand behind her with her sister Marigold on your front.
"Forgive me, Snake Princess... I was out there trying to capture that man..."
Boa Hancock is a rather observative woman. She observes people who falls under her rules. She knows her worth and what she is capable of and use it for her advantage.
Imagine to her slight surprise, you weren't there to greet her return at the end of the red carpet. That was her first suspicion, you never failed to show up first whenever she returns to the Island after weeks on sea.
She got even more suspicious when every woman she came across to lied when she asked of your wherebouts. Their only replied was, you had to hunt down a troublesome monkey that involves the rest of the island's defense troupe.
So when this man appeared, she knew she has to demonstrate a taste of her power to all of the women on the island. You included. She is the Empress, and it is her duty to protect the women under her care. She ought to show an example of how truly vile men are.
You who were oblivious of how truly cruel the world is. Too kind and obedient for her liking yet she couldn't find the heart to tell you off. She wasn't blind to see the adoration on your face whenever she is nearby. Nor she was oblivious to how genuine your actions were. She can see the unwavering loyalty you shown for her.
However she wasn't expecting you to grow attached to Luffy.
She noticed how your behavior shifted to tense and discomfort seeing him fight in that arena.
"What is it, (Name)?"
"Nothing, my empress..."
She could applaud you keeping your emotions in check. However, she found herself staring at you in disbelief when your cool finally broke when Marguerite, Sweet Pea and Aphelandra step in, attempt to save Luffy.
"My apologies, but I was the one who brought him to the village. If anyone deserves to be punished, it should be me. Those three merely followed my orders."
"You know what happens to those who defy me, (Name). Why are you defending the guilty?"
Taking up the courage, you managed to look her directly in the eyes. Those cold and dull hues that holds deeper emotions within. With a deep breath, you gave her your usual smiles.
Your compassionate smile of purity.
"I was the one who allowed permission for him to enter the village, my empress. So I should be the one held accountable. Marguerite, Sweet Pea and Aphelandra did nothing wrong, so please allow me to take their punishment alone.
You pleaded them to be spared. Seeing how you are willing to take the risks of saving the girls including Luffy slightly wavered her resolved.
"....You disappointed me, (Name).."
But she is still the Empress, and she has to show her authority over the island. Knowing full well that her powers could not affect you in any way, she asked a few warriors to take you away. You who looked back at her with a dejected face.
The man wearing a strawhat look angry on your behalf. He fought bravely against her sisters, demanding to set you free as you were innocent from all of this.
"She did nothing wrong! She was only trying to save me!"
Hancock kept her composure as she watched the battle raged on. What was so special about this man that you were willingly to defend him.
You were just too kind that it slightly annoyed her. You should only reserve it to her and her people alone. Your kindness shouldn't be shown to filthy men who will only take advantage of you.
This was the first defiance you've ever done. Hancock gritted her teeth as memories flashed between her eyes, ransacking every single one, yet she didn't remember you showing any disobedience like this before.
Just when she was starting to treasure you.
Only when the battle was over, she finally understood. Luffy was kind in his own way. Is that why you defended him? Because you were aware that he was not like those men who once trespassed the island?
Luffy seems to know the secret she was so desperate of hiding, so does that means that you already know? What do you see in her now?
Only when she was finally alone in her room, was she began breaking down, silent tears fell down as she didn't want her sisters to hear. Having you by her side for years as her closest aide made her conflicted. She only kept you nearby was because of pity.
You loosing your mother at such a young age. Your mother who was apart of her crew, died at sea because of her warrior pride to protect the rest. It was by guilt, your mother's death at her ship is what made her take you under her wing.
She watched you grow up into a formidable warrior serving her with nothing but pure genuine adoration. It was nothing like the lust thrown to her way by both genders whenever she was present.
It was a gaze of a child with innocent admiration. You look up to her as a person and not just someone with otherworldy beauty.
Which is why she didn't let you join her crew. Giving excuses that you weren't strong enough to travel the seas on her ship. She didn't want you to see how vicious and filthy this world truly is. Nor for people to take advantage of your kindness.
What will happen if you knew the truth? It was her selfishness that killed your mother. Her selfish orders is what caused your mother to loose her life. Will you still have the same look on your face if you ever find out her slave mark? Or are you already aware of it?
Knowing you for years, no. You would never look at her differently even after she told you her secret. But the truth? It was because of her that you grew up without your mother's tender love and care.
But even so, she gave in with her fears. Through out the years, even she tried hard to push you away with her cold atittude, you still managed to find a place in her heart.
You were patient with her. Serving her with a bright smile that herself couldn't help but grew fond of. You tolerate her bratty attitude and beauty even when she knew that didn't have any affect on you. Only you were the one who can see through her lies and stayed.
But Hancock is a selfish woman, she was drawn to your warmth that she decided to keep you close, Because she was selfish, she only wants to keep your kindness to herself.
Because being around you, she can be a regular person that people never fawn on. Not like a luxurious item that people wanted to have, but a person who has her own feelings and wants.
All she hope is that you would forgive her like how you always do.

Aang was a kid who was the sole survivor of a genocide. Why doesn't that factor in your opinion of him?
I've talked about this before, but his age and tragic backstory are irrelevant. ALL of the main characters are children with tragic backstories, and they are more empathetic, have more growth, and their tragic backstories...actually matter.
Listen, for all people whine about how often Katara talks about her mom (which isn't really that often), it's clear how her mother's death shaped her as a character. It's clear how witnessing her mother's death formed her worldview, and Kya sacrificing herself for Katara made a mark (she never turns her back on people who need her? COME ON! That is obviously her trying to save people the way she couldn't save her mother). Even her wanting to learn how to fight and not heal (which is an insane battle advantage, btw) speaks to her trauma around not being able to defend her mom.
Even Sokka's trauma around the loss of his father and not being deemed old enough (big enough/ strong enough/ smart enough) to go with Hakoda and the other warriors come through in his recurring need to prove himself (coming up with the big battle plan for DoBS, breaking his father out of prison, learning swordplay, etc.). It's woven so neatly into the narrative. His trauma matters to his story.
Toph is the least developed of the Gaang, and her issues with her parents have more impact on character than the destruction of the Air Nomads have on Aang. Heck, Zuko's entire arc hinges on compound traumas.
Meanwhile, Aang's trauma....? What trauma? Yes, the loss of the Air Nomads is a tragedy, but we, the audience, only know it's a tragedy because we have real world knowledge telling us so. Personally, I was in 3rd or 4th grade when I began learning about the Trail of Tears, and in kindergarten when I began learning about slavery (I was born in Harlem. The kindergarten I went to taught us accordingly). When I saw ATLA, I had a frame of reference for the genocide of the Air Nomads. But it didn't really seem to bother Aang all that much. Oh, sure, it did come up when it was convenient to the plot, but it mostly seemed to be a way for Aang to expound on the superiority of Air Nomad philosophy and society to whoever he's talking to. Aside from that, and his first rush of feeling when he found out what happened to them, the loss of the Air Nomads doesn't seem to effect Aang all that much. If he doesn't care about his tragic loss, why should I?
Aang is a fictional character. I don't have to extend the same pathos to him that I would to a real life person. It is the writers' duty to make me feel for him, and they did not. The way he's framed is the issue. And here is where I really start retreading things I've said before, but I think it needs to be repeated (again and again and again). Aang is not framed as someone who has a lot of growing up and learning to do. I could give him a pass on his worst traits because he's a child and still growing, but the show doesn't frame him that way. The show wants me to see him as a precocious imp who's wise-beyond-his-years but still has a cheeky lil' mischievous streak. It's not trying to frame his lying to the quarreling tribes in The Great Divide as a bump in his journey to becoming an effective leader bridging different people together. It wants the audience to laugh at him getting one over on the foolish tribes who absolutely went back to fighting as soon as Appa was out of sight. The show isn't framing his desperation to get the village in Avatar Day to like him as a foolish pursuit he needs to get over if he wants to be strong in the face of adversity. It wants us, the audience, to feel bad for him because his charm isn't immediately bringing the people over to his side. It wants us to be indignant that the villagers don't see how important Aang is and wont' support him. The show isn't framing Aang's non-con kisses with Katara as bad because it hurt her. It isn't making a point to that Aang needs to care about her feelings. It wants the audience to feel bad for Aang and hope for Katara to come around because he's A Nice Guy™️©️®️. Aang is never shown to be a particularly good friend to any of the Gaang, let alone him being kind to strangers just because that's his heart. All of that I would allow to be just him being a dumb kid with growing to do if the show hadn't made it clear that Aang was perfect and didn't have to change, and in fact the world should change for him.
Aang's age and tragic backstory are irrelevant because the show made them irrelevant. All they left us with was a Gary Stu character who hides his selfishness under a thin veneer of cheerfulness. It's not good enough.

now that Season 2 has been confirmed (!!!!!!!!!!) I am here to make my official appeal that you ALL read the books. and yes...i mean ALL the books. Because here is what you are missing if you don't:
(mostly spoiler free. mostly vibes and chaotic no context)
OG PERCY JACKSON
Percy's INCREDIBLE sarcasm
Lots of chaotic Mr. D moments
Percy's unending absolute obliviousness when it comes to: his own abilities/powers, his own feelings towards a certain daughter of Athena, and EVERYONE'S feelings towards him
the full list of Percy's felonies (it's longer than you think!)
how much Percy thinks about Annabeth, especially in the third book
The Hunters of Artemis (everyone's like 'which godly parent would you have?' but im like ??? who cares??? I'm running off with the girls to immortal to hunt men i mean monsters)
soooooooooo much Sally Jackson is the Best Mom (to everyone who walks through her door) content
BLACKJACK. TRANS ICON BLACKJACK THE PEGASUS.
Rachel. Elizabeth. Dare. (this is how the audiobook says her name every single time)
Paul Blofis
Sally Jackson, author
Poseidon: Blowfish?
HEROES OF OLYMPUS
If you don't read these books you are missing out on some of the coolest female characters Rick has created: PIPER (an iconic), HAZEL (unintentionally hilarious), REYNA (beautiful character arc), and ANNABETH's point of view will have you loving her on a whole other level, trust me
Also: COACH HEDGE

All The Ladies Love Leo
the audiobooks are INSANE. It felt like a full cast read the book, but no. it was just one insanely talented narrator.
FESTUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS (im a dragon girlie)
Personally, I spent a lot of time reading the OG 5 wondering about how Roman mythology plays into Percy's world. Uncle Rick answered my questions and answered them SO WELL
Hazel the horse girl
Frank the horsebirddolphinman
Frank, gentle himbo, my beloved son
MY FAVORITE SCENE WHICH INVOLVES PERCY NOT KNOWING HOW TO DRIVE, A HARPY, FRANK, AND HAZEL AND THEYRE ALL SCREAMING AND IM PRETTY SURE STUFF IS ON FIRE
Forced Proximity for 7 teenagers and one chaotically violent satyr (that's Coach Hedge)
Eros/Cupid being one the most genius things Rick's ever written
Percy's hate of Ares transcending god magic

everyone thinking Percy and Annabeth are constantly getting up to the hanky panky
a statue made me cry
Gay Grumpy/Sunshine (or should that be Death/Sunshine) origins!!
TRIALS OF APOLLO
Apollo, vain himbo of godly proportions is forced to live as Lester Papadopoulos

Sally Jackson being the best mom to everyone who comes to her door
magic shoes
a sassy magic prophetic arrow that talks in Shakespearean English
so much gay grumpydeath/sunshine content
also yes sunshine's dad is Apollo
Apollo sings
Grover! Piper! Reyna! Hazel! All the friends! Everyone
Jason! (also im sorry)
what if there were some trees who were an elite squad of warriors who also answer to the chaotic twelve year old
gay moms of the midwest
unicorns
in the last book, chiron takes the campers on a 'field trip' to help take down the big baddie and he shows up dressed as a warrior soccer mom with granola bars, water bottles, and extra swords attached to his fanny pack
a different chaotic twelve year old while fighting to the death in a building that's on fire: "CAN WE GO ON FIELD TRIPS EVERY WEEK?"
chiron: "ROSE DEAR RAISE YOUR SWORD A LITTLE HIGHER!"
okay im not going to spoil it but in the last book there is also this extremely horrifyingly violent moment that Uncle Rick somehow turns into one of the most hilarious things i've ever read
Piper in the epilogue
CHALICE OF THE GODS
more insanely funny percy first person narration
Grover, Percy, Annabeth reunite ("the gang is back together!" "The three musketeers!" "Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey!" "Excuse me?")

Sarah J. Maas is sick and tired of people minimizing Elain and treating her like she is not a complete person who did not undergo tremendous trauma and then be completely overlooked. In her own words, she set up a lot of what the next book was about in ACOSF (I love the Eva Chen LiveTalksLA 2021 with SJM interview for these details) and here is what Sarah wrote about Elain throughout ACOSF:
Nesta was so terrified of how depressed Elain was that she couldn't sleep because she was afraid Elain would literally unalive herself (this is a very sensitive subject to me. Please be kind in the comments):
Tumblr media
Elain suffered with her powers of being a seer ALONE (*ahem except time quietly spent with Azriel*) No one was training her. No one was teaching her how to manage her powers. No one understood how to get through to her (*ahem except Azriel*) and everyone focused on themselves:
Tumblr media
Feyre processes the guilt of realizing that even though she worried over Elain, she hadn't quite paid attention to her:
Tumblr media
Let's focus on helping one sister, then the other:
Tumblr media
The reality of the situation is if you like Gwyn as a character better than you like Elain, there's actually a very logical reason for that (I love her too, btw). If Gwyn had stayed in the library, never faced her demons, never fought, never worked through her trauma, she would actually be very similar to all the negative things people say about Elain. But Nesta fought to get the priestesses to join Valkyrie training, and now Gwyn has had a complete character arc in the service of another main character's story. You are comparing a character at the peak of their arc to a character that hasn't had theirs yet. Because Elain has been confirmed to be getting her own book for years, and this is where her arc will take place. But Gwyn needed Nesta. She would not have done it on her own.
If Feyre had continued on with Tamlin without extreme intervention from Rhysand, she would be very similar to Elain as well. But again, Feyre was pulled out of her situation by the Inner Circle and encouraged to fight and become stronger and choose her path.
This is what Sarah is talking about when she is discussing the different kind of strength Elain has. No, she is not warrior. But no one reached their hand out to her to pull her to a greater version of herself. She pulled HERSELF out of that darkness while everyone wanted to continue to coddle her because it was easier to manage for themselves. Imagine if Feyre had everyone telling her to stay with Tamlin. To keep giving him a chance. To let things get better, because this is just how things are. If NO ONE helped her, friends, family, "enemy" courts, what-have-you. If NO ONE ever saw her or listened to her or tried to understand exactly what type of help she needed.
This is Elain's story. She is standing up for herself. And she will fight for herself. She has already saved herself. And now she is going to play her part in saving the world. (And yes, hopefully get railed by the hottest bat boy.)
Thank you for your time 🩷🌷💞

I'm still on my QSMP Fit brainrot arc, here we go;
I think what I love most about watching his relationships grow closer is the different types of love he has been introduced too, after walking off that train with nothing.
Familial bond through a son who adores him, a returned sentiment tenfold because Fit wouldn't be who he is without what Ramon and himself have been through. That child went from two distant dads to one who would go any length in making sure he's safe. Someone who he spends every waking moment he can with, this grizzled anarchist with far too many scars but a warm heart has been finally allowed to love.
He has experienced platonic love from close friends such as Philza. Another ancient warrior with long scrolls of history behind him, Phil encouraged them to hang out together often finding a brother in arms he trusts implicitly. Which is an accomplishment in of itself with that paranoid old crow, spending all his time up on that wall he always welcomed Fit's drop-bys with Ramon.
Seeing him grow and accept others like Tubbo, Etoiles, Bagi, Mike...his list of friends who would support him through the end of the world only grows longer the more he accepts the love he is privileged too.
Both these types of love, plus the many other small acts of trust and service, cracked Fit's walls around his heart allowing him to be honest with finally someone else besides Ramon. Telling Pac that secret that could doom his reputation and image, and Pac accepting him no matter what, was the final portion of Fit trusting his fellow islanders, least to me.
And we have been so lucky to watch this evolution of scared, serious anarchist unable to trust another soul to relying on others with that trust and belief they won't hurt him, shows such an incredible amount of character growth.
I want to rotate this character in my mind forever, watching a closed off person evolve to accept the love he deserves despite his past....I resonate so deeply with that sentiment.
Changed by love in the best way, Fit is allowing himself to feel with beautiful results and I am so excited for the future.
[1 month before Fit's due date btw, little concerned about that after how much I now adore this character]
