➽──────────────❥
Who knows, one day your single life would be over when a loser trapped in a handsome body came in? It's difficult to say if you're catching a feeling or if it's just a silly crush.
You were the type of person who craved physical touch, yet you hated it when anyone did it. Not even you understand your own selves; how about the others? Do you expect them to understand you like an open book when you're like an error Nokia phone? Nevertheless, ever since Ni-ki got into your team, he became closer to you than the other members because you're the leader and the only one who could relate to how foreigners feel in a foreign country like this, South Korea.
You wouldn't try to think much with all those weird and sudden gestures from Ni-ki whenever he got a chance beside you. Such as holding hands, belting your waist with his big palm, resting his head against yours, and wrapping his hands around your neck.
The patient you had with him is so motherlike, you can't get angry or ask him to distance himself a little, although at the end of the day, he'd be all forgotten before asking you again since you said those. All you could do was let out a deep, heavy signal.
Today is the weekend, and your boss decided to throw a party at the beach near the shore. She said, It's been a while to be here, and she wants all her employees to celebrate and enjoy all that hard work for the past few months during the hard times when the company is about to go bankrupt.
Pausing for a moment to take in the breathtaking ocean view as the sun began its descent, the tranquil sound of the waves enveloped everything. The air was crisp and refreshing, and the gentle breeze invited one to linger indefinitely.
Vitamin C seemed essential for such moments of serene beauty. Seeing you spacing out, Ni-ki got worried as he made his way behind you, placing his huge hand on your waist once again.
"Is something wrong, m/n?" He paused, turning all his attention to you, waiting for your response with those grumpy faces.
"I'm good. You should go and have fun." You whisper, still gazing at the beautiful blue ocean in front of you. You can't seem to think straight at the moment; you're lost in thought with a lot of things you can't open.
Unsatisfied with your response, Ni-ki turns you around by your shoulders, facing him eye-to-eye as he towers over you, looking at your face with a worried expression.
"You can tell me, m/n, I'll listen to anything." Ni-ki utters under his throat, anxious about you, who is not in yourself, as if he's talking to a ghost.
"Let's not ruin this atmosphere, Riki; we can talk later."
The sunset died down quickly, and everyone was gathering around in circles with the campfire in the middle. Some play guitar and sing, while others clap their hands in unison, following the rhythm of the song. It was truly a memorable moment to witness.
It was such a healing time after a long time, but you're still feeling empty. You don't know why. You were supposed to be happy. Feeling you'd blown out any sec, you excuse yourself before walking alone from the camping place for some alone time.
Ni-ki can't let you go by yourself alone, so he followed you behind as always. Arriving at the scene, Ni-ki saw you sitting on the ground by yourself while you let the wave wash over your feet, making your pants get all soaking wet.
The moon is full tonight its light shines all through the corner everywhere. It was magnificent to witness this in full experience after all the shit you've been going through. You can't even blink because of your work as the leader.
"You seem quite quiet today, m/n." Riki finally breaks the silence under the night sky as he looks forward to the never-ending ocean ahead.
"You wouldn't understand anyway if I told you, and that'd make me weak," you mutter softly, almost in a whisper tone. Placing both of your hands on your knee as you inhale a big sign.
"I.. hm, everyone can be weak, and so can you; we can't be tough madness all the time, isn't it?" His words came out so soothing, which made you question whether his age didn't match his maturity.
"What do you even know about love? I bet you don't." You joked with half truth and half lie, but deep down you were hurting like a bee stings. The sea holds so much memory of your past love that you can't help but feel sadness for some reasons.
"I won't force you to say what's on your mind, and it's ok if you don't feel comfortable with it. Yet pouring out what inside your heart has been bothering you could help relieve your stress," Riki responded, full of enthusiasm in his words you can't explain. He's younger in your perspective, but why is he acting as if he had been living for like eternity, full of life?
"Okay, fine, if you want to know about it, at this point, I don't care if you would open your mouth and spill with the other."
"Trust me, trust me. ㅋㅋ I'll let you smack me if I do."
" *Heavy sign* It's about my ex. We were in a healthy relationship once before. We're so in love, so sweet, and so nice that when I wake up in the morning, I pinch myself to see if it's just a dream. This love was going on for a year until his parents knew about it. Instead of telling us about our personalities, they made fake rumors about me. I was a play guy who would hook up with everyone, and that's not all; they made a fake picture of me sleeping disgustingly with some random people +
I tried and tried to tell him that it was all misunderstood; however, in the end, I was left all alone, without my explanation. My ex decided to end our relationship, and now he probably still hates me—" You were cut in the middle of your explanation by Rikki.
"You deserve someone better!"
"W-what?" "I mean, in a relationship, we need trust, right? But the hard truth is, he doesn't even let you explain anything, and he just leaves you like that, which means he's not the right person to be with in the future."
"And what do you know about love?" Blood boils as you feel the heat rushing through your red blood. He was nothing other than a friend and a co-worker; why did he have the audacity to say this immature? Abruptly, your waist was snatched by him harshly before your body pressed against him. His finger is tracing down on your cheeks; wipe away the dry tears on your face while locking his eye into yours.
"You should choose me! I promise you'll see my hair grow  gray."
"What in the actual fuck, Riki?"
"Oh, I forgot. I haven't confessed to you through text yet, but for now, I will." Unable to predict his move, he closed the distance between you even closer as he captured your lip in a kiss that was so passionate. The world around you stops spinning; all thoughts are scattered like leaves under the full moon. The kiss continue for almost a minute—
Your eyes went wide after you realized he was kissing you. Without further ado, you push him away with your full strength. This stupid thing is something. You are looking at him while covering your mouth with your arm, as a pink hue is painted on your face. "Hmm, now we're boyfriends."
"You, mf, what was that?"
"My confession? I know that you won't accept my love in a simple way, so this is the only option. You respond to my kiss for 3  seconds." Riki implied, crossing his hands happily and proudly as he finally made it.
"NO, I'M NOT—UGHH YOU IDIOT" couldn't resist the truth, and you walked away frustrated from him. The voice of his then echoes through your ears:
"Remember, we're boyfriends, alright? Be with me, you'd never feel sad. I meant it."
"That kid, ugh, but why do I feel like jelly when he kisses me?"

"Please, please, don't fight me," he begged in a soft voice, still pinning you to the cold glass wall with his weight.
But what else were you supposed to do? After working side by side with him for years, even growing to consider him a friend, he'd found you in your room, gone on a bizarre rant about how long the mission was (as if that was some kind of surprise?) and then grabbed you. By the time you realized what was happening, it was far too late to try to talk him out of it, or at least try to make a run for the door.
"I just need--" he choked out, speaking softly by your ear as his hands ran over your body, "I just need to... feel something. Something real."
"Capa, please," you sighed, struggling to keep your composure as he started to attempt to undress you, a heavy sigh falling from his lips. "I know as much as anyone how hard it's been, okay?"
"Then you need this too," he breathed as he pulled your tank top out of the way and ran his fingers softly over your bare shoulder. "I can make it good for you-- I mean, I can try. Kinda rusty, you know..."
"Just please," you whimpered, "stop now-- I won't tell anyone. We can just forget it, go back to... to how things were!"
He shook his head, making you whine as he pressed himself harder against you, kissing the curve of your neck as his long hair tickled your skin. "I can't take it anymore," he explained, "being so close to you, seeing you every day and never getting a chance to touch you... I'm sorry, we can't go back to how it was. It was killing me."
Just as you opened your mouth to protest, or at least ask how long he'd been harboring this secret obsession, his lips ghosted over your pulse and you shuddered. Feeling him smile, you cursed yourself internally for how easily your body responded. He wasn't wrong that it was difficult to spend years without any human contact-- but you strongly disagreed with his solution.
He reached down into your shorts suddenly, making you gasp in shock. "You're wet," he noticed with a purr.
Okay, maybe you didn't disagree that strongly... or at least, your body didn't. But your mind was racing with confusion and fear, realizing how much worse this was going to get: tonight was only one problem. You still had years left on this ship, trapped with him, working in the lab right by him every day... he was completely inescapable.
You whimpered and tried to push him away again, but he shushed you and started to push his own pants down, pushing you roughly back against the wall when you resisted. "Shh, hey," he hissed, sliding your shorts down and guiding his erection to your opening, "it won't be so bad. I just need this-- I'm sorry, I know you... I know you trusted me. But I need this. I need to be inside you."
Pushing in with a loud moan, his hips forced yours against the wall-- until a hand settled on your hips and pulled them back; he looked down at where he entered you, groaning and sighing as he already started to move.
"S'been so long," he mumbled, "s-so warm..."
"Stop," you choked out, "please--"
"I can't stop," he whimpered, burying his face in your neck again and kissing you more hungrily there. "I'm sorry, I can't stop-- you feel too good. Fuck. Like you were made for me."
Moving faster, he kissed away your tears, still offering apologies sometimes between his deep and desperate moans. For a while, you let it happen-- because you didn't have much of a choice in it all-- until his sounds got louder and his movements more erratic. Erratic enough that you could hear skin hitting skin, and his dogtags dangling.
"I'm close," he panted in your ear, "fuck, I need to fill you."
"N-no, Capa," you choked out, "not inside..."
He didn't say anything, but just the way he groaned and dropped his forehead on your shoulder somehow made it obvious to you that he wasn't going to heed your demand.
"Pull out!" you insisted. "Do you have any fucking idea what would happen if I got--?!"
"I know, I know," he grunted, "but fuck, I-- I can't stop now."
You managed to get your arms out from against the wall and push back on his hips, trying to force him out, but he grabbed your wrists and groaned as he pinned them to the wall, fucking you harder than ever as you sobbed.
"Sorry," he offered one more time, "I need it. I need to fucking fill you up--"
"Please, please," you whimpered.
"--give you every fucking drop of my come," he growled, "so fucking deep inside--"
You shook your head, because you knew it was already a lost cause.
"You're gonna take it so well, I know you will," he praised darkly, "gonna be fucking perfect for me. Just stay still-- please, baby, it's almost over..."
But this was far, far from over.

'I think it's time for bed' Ghost x Reader
Summary: Simon fell asleep on the couch after coming home from work.
Authors note: Heyy! So this is my first ever story. I never thought I would write anything let alone post it, but here we are. Also it has to be said that I don't have a beta reader so if you notice any errors or mistakes kindly point them out in the comments. English isn't my first language so I might have missed some errors. Have fun reading! <3 This is also posted on AO3 .
You were sitting on the couch together with Ghost, or how he wants you to call him, Simon. Outside you could hear the wind blowing through the leaves of various bushes and trees surrounding your joint home. Since it’s been getting colder, the wind was accompanied by some light rain. Not the kind of rain that leaves you drenched if you even think about stepping outside, but the kind that makes the nicest pitter patter noises on your roof. If you listened carefully, you could even, make out the water making its way across the roof and cascading down the rain gutters that ran along the side of your home.
Simon came home a few hours ago, seemingly pretty tired and ready to go to bed, but his face lit up and adorned a fatigued smile once he saw you. You welcomed your boyfriend home with a much-awaited hug and a gentle kiss. Together you ate dinner. During your dinner you made sure to make light conversation with him. Talking about how the weather suddenly switched up on you while you were walking home, or how there was a sale on your favourite snack at your local store and you were therefore indirectly forced to stock up again.
Dinner wasn't really anything that took tons of effort, but it was still as comforting as ever. A simple one pot pasta had to make do for tonight, but for Simon, he might as well could have been at a Michelin star restaurant. Having to rely on MRE's as his main source of calories during his time at work, has set his standards for food very low. A warm meal? With his partner? At home? He might as well be in heaven. Simon made sure to show you his gratitude in the form of cleaning up the dishes afterwards.
Which in all honesty, could have just been shoved into the dish washer and called it a day, yet he insisted on doing them by hand. Meanwhile you were sat next to him on the countertop and listened to him complaining about some new recruits that were trying to turn everything into a competition.
Being able to look at his face and watch his emotions flicker across his face while he was telling a story has always been one of your favourite aspects of your relationship. Simon swore a long time ago that he won’t be wearing his mask around the house, and you’ve been grateful that he stuck to his promise. The privilege of getting to see his face wasn’t something Simon granted to just anyone, and you are well aware of the fact. Making it even more special to you.
The story about the recruits ended in them trying to sabotage and deliberately throw other comrades off of the obstacle course. Some poor rookie had to get stiches because he fell off of the wall they were meant to jump over. But Simon witnessed how the recruit behind him gave the guy in front a not-so-gentle push, because the poor guy was moving too slowly for his taste. It goes without saying that Ghost delivered a long and proper talking to and maybe some extra rounds of running for the saboteur.
While his story came to a close, Simon had also finished the dishes. You both agreed that you only had enough energy left for a movie before deciding on heading to bed.
So that's how you found yourself and your boyfriend sat on the couch in your living room, watching whatever action movie that was currently running on the TV. You listened to Simon ramble and rant about how inaccurate basically every single aspect of the movie was. How they held the guns wrong, shooting for 5 minutes straight without reloading once, not to mention the amount of ammunition they would need to carry with them for them to be able to shoot as much as they were.
All you could do was listen to him with a small grin on your face. Only Simon would be able to pick apart some movie that was clearly produced in some warehouse in Hollywood, with a plot that never even saw the inside of a writer’s room. But of course, you supported your boyfriend in his strong opinions and joined him in his rant.
It must have been about an hour into the movie when you noticed Simon had stopped talking to you. You risked a small glance over at him and saw he was properly passed out. The stress of the day at work must have finally caught up to him. Taking the liberty, you turned down the volume of the TV just a couple of notches, making it so that the movie was now just background noise.
When you were designing the living room you deliberately chose a three-seater couch, ensuring that there would always be enough space for you and Simon to stretch out without hogging the space from the other. Leaning into his side of the couch, your boyfriends arms sat limply at his sides, his right hand placed on your thigh just above your knee.
Normally he would be stroking his thumb gently from side to side as a reminder that he was still there. Honestly you should have noticed that he was asleep once his ministrations ceased. You took a moment to admire how is face changed depending on whatever light flickered across the screen in front of the both of you. In your opinion, he looked the nicest in a subtle orangish tone, the warm light bringing out his faint freckles and blond lashes. Although the universe refused to grace you with your all-time favourite feature of his, his eyes. You would have to make do with Simon’s for once peaceful expression.
Peaceful, but not relaxed, you noticed. There was still a light crease between his eyebrows, even while sleeping he still seemed stressed. Thinking of possibilities to diminish his stress, you gently picked up the hand that was previously placed on your thigh, without waking him up. Simon’s large and warm hand lay limply in yours, and you started to gently massage his hand.
Running your fingers across his knuckles and the back of his hand. Making sure to appreciate every single small cut and faded scar along the way. You carefully turned his hand palm side up and started to massage the palm of his hand with both of your thumbs. The rest of your fingers were supporting what was now the underside of his hand. Your thumbs dug into the muscles of his palm running across all of the folds and creases, before moving to his fingers.
Feeling his fingerprints underneath your fingertips made it feel like he was your missing puzzle piece you have been searching for all your life. Two separate people coming together to make a whole. You couldn’t stop the smile that was now plastered on your face.
Glancing back at Simon, his eyebrows seemed to have relaxed a bit, but not enough for your liking. You had to take drastic action. You lifted your dominant hand to his face you stroked your thumb across the space between his eyebrows in hopes of completely erasing his frown. Your mission was a success, he stopped frowning.
However, he was now blearily blinking awake. The universe obviously had chosen to show mercy today and decided to grace you with his dreamy eyes once again. Your hand slid a bit lower, now resting on his cheek, your thumb still lazily stroking the side of his face.
With a small smile you told him: 'I think it’s time for bed'.

part two, jared’s help [jensen ackles]
series masterlist | main masterlist
Tumblr media
two,
"You need to stop this. It's stupid." That but was obvious. I know it’s stupid, but so what? I can do whatever i wanted, it’s my life. "No, don't even think about it, Laila. This isn't a 'i can do whatever i want' situation. You're  really hurting Jensen, and he's my best friend." Now that hit.
"I didn't mean to." I mumble lowly, giving him my back as i pour both cokes into ice filled glasses, then blending some pomegranate syrup into it. He sighs, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"I know, but you need to do better. You can't keep running away like this, it's been twelve months. At least talk to him. Be in a room with him without looking like you saw a ghost." I nod once but it doesn't seem to register what he's asking because he clears his throat and tries again, "Laila, i'm setting you both up to hangout tomorrow."
My eyes widen as i stop pouring the drinks and turn to look at him. "What the fuck did you do?"
"I just told him that you guys would hang out tomorrow at the diner next to your apartment. you should've seen how his eyes lit up, Lils, come one, you need do this." My stomach twists and turns at both the news and Jensen’s reaction. I know I’m bad, but not that much, right? God, maybe I had been rude this past year especially with him and Danneel’s divorce. I don’t even see him anymore.
"Okay..." I hesitate and Jared gives me a worried glance. "But can we just drop it after this? We don't talk about it again and i'll stop coming to set if it upsets him."
"That's not what upsets him and you know it, you're always welcome on set we love having you there." I glare at him to shut up and he does, taking the small win.
We make dinner until Gen comes back from the store and then all sit to eat. i’ll never get tired of this, my little family. I know how hard it was for Jared to accept that he actually has Gen in his life so he used to have me ground him, come on some of their dates to make sure he wasn't being played. It annoyed Gen at first, but now that she's gotten to understand Jared, she knows how much our friendships means to both of us so she came up with the idea of having 'family' dinners every Sunday, just the three of us.
+
"You did what?" Mad was an understatement. Jensen had told his best friend his feelings towards the Laila situation in confidence not so he can run off and tell her the first chance he gets. Jensen wanted to at least appear to have some dignity in front of her, she used to be Danneel's best friend for God's sake.
"I just told her that you guys need to talk more, told her you'd love to go out with her and she agreed."
"Right, but i think you forgot to do something, Jared, really minor," he says, voice laced with sarcasm, "asking me whether or not i actually would love to go out with her."
"You wouldn't?" that's not the point, not the one Jensen was making anyways. What he meant was that... damn you, Jared. that's what he meant.
"You can curse me out all you want but i did you a solid. You guys needed to go out at least once in your life. I'll give you her number and the address of the place. You two firgure out a time, i'm not doing all the work."
"All the work? Who asked you to do anything at all?" Jared rolls his eyes but snatches his friends phone to add Laila's number in anyways. Jared knows Jensen's just letting his frustration out, he doesn't actually care, in fact, if he didn't know any better he'd say he's excited.
"Text her tonight cause i told her you're going out tomorrow. Don't make me look bad."
"It isn't a date."
"Yeah? Might as well be with how you two are acting." Jared rolls his eyes and walks onto set where he's called.
"Whatever." He mumbles like a child, checking the phone number under the contact 'Laila Rhodes SPN SET' as if he needed a reminder of where he knows her from. Jensen, though he'd never admit it, is actually excited and very pleased with his friend for setting this up, he wants to talk to laila more than anything seeing as he's spoken to her as much as he's spoken to the crafts team, probably a little less even if she used to come over.
When she'd be at their house, Danneel would more often than not shoo jensen away to go make coffee for them or hang out with the kids, or any other stupid excuse. At first, he thought it was because she didn't want them to meet but she later told him that Laila's very shy around new people and she didn't want her to leave. Jensen understood so he bit his tongue, but now, he's known her for 5 years, shy or not, they'd have to talk eventually. He'd make sure of it.

Say When
A/n: I got a little carried away, but every time I’ve heard this song after getting into MW2, I couldn’t not think of Ghost. Tagging @flaneurpastel bc they asked to be tagged for Ghost content. Hope you like it! 👉🏻👈🏻
Tumblr media
See you there
Don't know where you come from
Unaware the stare from someone
Don't appear to care that I saw you, and I want you too
When Ghost first saw you, it was from the back of the room. He watched as Laswell introduced you as the newest member of the team, strong, capable, reliable, efficient. Everything a soldier should be and more. He watched as your eyes coolly regarded everyone in the room, gaze flitting from one person to the next, mentally appraising them. He watched the gears turn in your head as your eyes finally landed on his peering at you through his balaclava.
What's your name? Because I have to know it
You let me in and begin to show it
We're terrified, because we're heading straight for it, might get it
Everything in him itched to approach you after the meeting, he didn’t care about your accomplishments as a soldier, he didn’t care that you were a lethal force all on your own, all he knew was that he wanted to know you. The impulse terrified him, and yet it thrilled him all the same. The lick of humanity that shot up his spine. Ghost settled for just watching your interactions with the team, your airy laugh when Soap said something ridiculous, your warm smile when Gaz started talking to you, your attentive eyes when Price commanded the room’s attention for a moment. And when the moment passed your eyes landed on him, and they held nothing but inquiry, understanding, respect, and knowledge. The knowledge that you were a goner as soon as you saw him.
Your favorite song plays on the background
All alone but you turn it up now
And everyone is rising to meet you, to greet you
You have yet to utter a word to him directly and suddenly he’s clinging off of every sound that passes your lips, every chuckle, every answer, every question, he wants to hear it all. As the meeting ends, everyone is standing to approach you. Price clapped your shoulder with a strong hand which you amazingly didn’t move an inch for, Gaz gently bumped your shoulder with his fist, Soap tucked you under his arm and ruffled your hair. And then they were gone. And it was just you and Ghost.
Turn around and you're walking toward me
I'm breaking down and you're breathing slowly
Say the word and I will be your man, your man
You look at him expectantly. Air full of waiting. And then you take it upon yourself to move. Your legs carry you right in front him, willing your lungs to remain even as your heart pounded in your throat. Ghost was no better. And he hated it. But, still, he loved the humanity of it. The humanness of his hands going clammy in his gloves, his throat going dry, and his mask becoming a touch too warm. And yet, he hated it. It left room for pain. Room for vulnerability. Worse yet, you reached across the chasm between you, arm outstretched, hand inviting his, and he took it. It was warm or maybe it was just him and you smiled at him, warm and radiant,
“I’m looking forward to working with you, sir.” The words poured from your mouth and it was like Aloe Vera on a sunburn, it soothed the scorch in his throat and raised the hackles of his heart all the same.
“Likewise.”
He’s worse than fucked. But if the widening of your eyes as soon as he spoke said anything, then you know that you were just as screwed as he was.
Say when
And my own two hands will comfort you
Tonight, tonight
Say when
And my own two arms will carry you
Tonight, tonight
Come close and even closer
We bring it in, but we go no further
We separate two ghosts in one mirror, no mirror
It’s been months since you were first introduced. So far you’ve gone on multiple missions together, and it was seamless. You really are as good as Laswell claimed. Laser focus and flexible. You mold around him so well, your awareness of him and his movements, planned or not, were nothing short of simply being his shadow. You fought together, trained together, and as time went on, you ate together, decompressed together, and suddenly where one went, the other would follow. It was unspoken, your understanding of one another.
When one needed space, the other would oblige. But occasionally, it was easy to tell when that requested space was a farce. A defense mechanism. And he’d barrel through it, not unlike the doors he’s kicked down with your eyes watching his six. He’d find you in your room, brim of your eyes red, your hues glossy with tears not yet spilled. You’re fretting about your room, documents in your hands as you insist on keeping yourself occupied. He knows you work through your anxiety by busting yourself, whether it’s cleaning, organizing, typing, working out, training, anything to focus that energy elsewhere.
“I told you I was fine, Ghost.” Your tone was exasperated, the tears dancing on your lashes threatening to fall out of sheer frustration,
“‘Course you are.” He shrugged, leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed,
“Then?” You threw your arms in the air,
“Then, let’s grab a bite.” His words were casual and seemingly uncaring to an outsider, but he knew you haven’t eaten since you got back. He knew you haven’t been taking care of yourself the way you ought to. And he was calling you out. If you denied his request, he’d know you really weren’t alright, and the line of questioning would begin. And you really weren’t in the mood to play 20 questions, so you sighed. You relented and tossed the folder onto your desk and walked away with him.
Later on, if it turns to chaos
Hurricanes coming all around us
See the crack, pull it back
From the window, you stay low
Then the worst happened. Your stubborn ass decided to play by your own rules and now you were in enemy hands. Ghost was kicking himself harder than he ever had. It was stupid. He should’ve forced you out of there. It should’ve been him. You were at his six, as you always have been, your back against his with your gun pointed in front of you. You glanced to your left as you both walked down the empty hall, you caught the slightest glimpse of a red dot on his shoulder and your body moved before your mind could register the intent. With all your might, you shoved back against your lieutenant forcing him to stumble forward. He turned as quickly as he could, watching in abject horror as a bullet pierced your arm and you were tackled to the ground by the very men you were tasked to kill. You managed to wriggle free, with Ghost’s help. Help, being nearly ripping the men in half with his bare hands. He grabbed you by the straps of your vest and started running,
“Stay with me, Sergeant.”
“I’ve got their focus, Ghost, just go. Get the intel to the RV point and I’ll meet you there.”
“Negative.” You fucking idiot.
The one time he desperately needed you to listen, and you didn’t. You waited until he was through the doorway before you shoved him again, ignoring the white hot pain that seared your arm, and closed and locked the door behind him. It sent him into a rage. The synapses in his head going into overdrive, Ghost was telling him that you had a point and he needed to finish the mission but Simon wanted to rip the door off its hinges and bring you with him.
He cursed as he started running. Shouting into comms that you were on your own and about to be overrun. That was the last he’d see of you for a while. It made him nauseous to think about your smile, to recall your laughter that rang in his ears. That didn’t matter. The only thing that he cared about was bringing you home.
Say when
And my own two hands will comfort you
Tonight, tonight
Say when
And my own two arms will carry you
Tonight, tonight
Come across, you're lost and broken
You're coming to, you're slow and waking
You start to shake
Still haven't spoken, what happened?
He has you in his arms. Smaller than he’s ever seen you. He’s holding on so tight and so gently at the same time, willing the strength in his arms to be just enough to keep you against his chest without causing you further pain. Your small fist is curled against his heart, your head tucked into his chest, your breathing labored and your eyes never leaving his.
“I’m sorry.” Your voice was so quiet, throat hoarse from crying, screaming, god he didn’t want to think about it.
“Stop it.” His grip tightened ever so slightly, new rage forcing bile to rise in his throat,
“Ghost, please, I-”
“That’ll do, sergeant.” He was short. His words clipped and cold. But you knew he was anything but.
I'm coming back and you just don't know when
You want to cry but there's nothing coming
They're gonna push until you give in, say when
Even now, sitting in the infirmary beside your bed, every bone in his body, every fiber of his being was telling him to run. To get the fuck out of here. He refused. He sat by your bed, watching your chest rise and fall steadily, eyes never leaving your closed ones. Watching to make sure the nightmares that would eventually plague you, wouldn’t do so on his watch. You seemed peaceful. He only got to watch you sleep a handful of times, usually only when he was taking the first watch. But even then, it was never a deep sleep. It was always light enough to be roused at a moment's notice. But now? Nothing could wake you. He was relieved in a sense but it didn’t help the lump in his throat when he’d hear you stir. The quietest whimpers, the lightest twitch of your fingers, the heavy breaths that’d leave your nose, it kicked him into overdrive. He crossed the distance in two steps and gently shook you, his heart breaking as you woke up with a flinch, hand flying to the one gently shaking your shoulder, eyes wide with fear and survival.
“‘S just me, sweetheart.” His voice was soft, sad, and unfamiliar in tone. Not like you didn’t look like a stranger to him either.
“I’m s-”
“You apologize one more time, and I’ll knock you out.” There was a light, tentative, humor in his voice, one that you desperately cling to,
“Right. Habit.” You chuckled weakly, the smile nowhere near touching your eyes, but you tried. And you’d keep trying for him.
“I know.”
The silence hung in the room as your heartbeat settled back to normal, your hand still on his as it rested on your shoulder. His touch was an anchor and a catalyst all the same, suddenly the tears sprung to your eyes, the knot in your throat tightening and bringing a bitter taste to your mouth. Your shoulders started to shake as you bit hard on your quivering lower lip,
“Ghost…” You choked on his name as the single syllable passed through your lips,
“I know.”
Now we're here and it turns to chaos
Hurricanes coming all around us
Another crack throws you back from the window
You stay low
All began with the man of country
Another plan sends another century
Around again another nation, fallen
He was furious when you volunteered yourself for a mission so soon after being cleared. Everything he swallowed down for your sake, every acidic thought that eroded his mind, came to life. And it made him sick. For fuck’s sake there’s no way you were this reckless.
“Ghost, I’m fine!” You argued throwing your things to the ground. You’d finally reached the safe house and you were both sore, exhausted, and run down. And it seemed like now he was finally ready to rip into you, you were trying to keep your voice level. Forcing every ounce of understanding to come forward, remembering every look he’s given you up to this point. He was blaming himself and he didn’t know how to tell you. He didn’t know how to deal with the festering acid that had been bubbling for weeks since he brought you back. Since you first took that bullet for him.
“Why couldn’t you have listened?” He threw his own things down to the floor, eyes furious and searching yours,
“I was doing my fucking job, Ghost.” You were never afraid to push back, it’s what he admired most about you. Even if it brought you to trouble,
“Don’t give me that shit.”
“What else was I supposed to do?” One of your hands ran over your hair, the anxious energy bubbling,
“You shut-”
“Don’t fucking ask me to stand by and watch you get shot.” Your eyes narrowed to slits as your chest touched his,
“Watch your tone, sergeant.” His voice was low, a warning growl, his chest was rising and falling as the anger pulsed in his veins, forcing his fists to clench and unclench at his sides. You caught the movement in the corner of your eye and straightened your shoulders,
“Whether you like it or not, whether you allow me to or not, I’ll always have your back. For that, I will never apologize.”
The rage went from a smoldering fire to a stream of ice going down his spine.
Don’t say that. Please, god, don’t fucking say that.
He raised his hand and gently placed it on your arm, his thumb gently stroking the area of the wound through the fabric of your shirt. The action seemed to smooth your edges as much as it did for him.
“I know.”
Any guy can be on both sides of a coin
Never understood why
Some of us never get a shoulder, shoulder
Some of this we kept with us
All of us will go out there
'Cause it never stops until we give in, give in
To give in, give in
After the mission was completed, he never left your side. He didn’t before but he especially didn’t now. He became your shadow as much as you were his. You’d find his eyes in the corner of the room, focused on you, he’d nod his head at you when you’d land a punch on a rookie during training, he’d back you up during briefings when you struggled to find your voice. He was your quiet support. Giving you the extra push to fully bring you back into the fold.
But that wouldn’t change the nightmares. It wouldn’t change the fact that you laid awake in bed until morning call, it wouldn’t change the fact that you’d prefer the comfort of the treadmill to that of your bed when you’d get bored of just laying there. He’d find you there. Eyes focused forward, chest heaving, as you sprinted with everything you had. He wanted to say something but he couldn’t. He’d be a hypocrite if he did. Still, he couldn’t stand to see you like this either. Dark circles under your eyes, skin pale, deep crescent moons in your hands where your nails met the skin of your palms.
You became aware of his presence and gracefully, albeit shakily, stepped off the treadmill once it slowed to a stop. He didn’t have to say anything, just jerk his head and he knew you’d follow after him. You did. Without question, you always would.
Say when
And my own two hands will comfort you
Tonight, tonight
Say when
And my own two arms will carry you
Tonight, tonight
Say when
And my own two hands will comfort you
Tonight, tonight.
You were in his room, sat on his bed with him sitting beside you, facing you. He waited, waited for you to find the words he knew you needed to say, waited for you to turn and face him. And you did. Like a compass, you’d always find a way to face him. Once again, his hands found your arms, and slowly they made their way up until they slotted perfectly at the crook of your neck. His massive hands cradling your head, gently bringing you closer until your foreheads touched. You could feel the heat of his breath through his mask,
“Ghost-” Your voice shook, your hands trembling as they came up to rest on the same spots on his neck. Tears welling in your eyes as looked into his, seeing only the softest part of him,
“Simon.”
Your eyes widened and the new knowledge seemed to encourage the tears to stream down your cheeks. You tested his name, once, twice, until it was a broken sob and you threw your arms around him, burying your face into his neck, clutching the fabric of his sweater in a white knuckle grip. His arms curled around you, bringing you in closer, his eyes closing as he committed to memory every dip and curve of you under his hands.
“I’ve got you, sweetheart.”

Made incorrect quotes for Temporal Transcendence(WIP). Why am I so obsessed with incorrect quotes.
-
Wilbur: You love me, right, Tommy?
Tommy: Normally, I'd say yes without hesitation, but I feel like this is going somewhere and I don't like it.
-
Tommy: This is such a bad idea.
Wilbur: Then why are you coming along?
Tommy: One of us needs to be able to talk the other Mages out of arresting us when this inevitably goes wrong.
-
Techno: Here's some advice.
Dave the Blood God: I didn't ask for any.
Techno(been a statue for a whole century now): Too bad. I'm stuck here with my thoughts and you're the only one who can hear me.
-
Young Tommy: You saved me. I owe you my life.
Techno: No thanks. I've seen it and I'm not very impressed.
-
Techno: English is a difficult language. It can be understood through tough thorough thought, though.
Wilbur: You need to stop.
-
Tommy: In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
The Time Mages: Wasn't Supreme Time Mage Jacobs with you?
Karl: In my defense, I was also left unsupervised.
-
Wilbur: HELP! I TOLD TECHNO I'D COOK DINNER TONIGHT BUT I CAN'T COOK!
Phil, pouring milk directly into the cereal bag: And you thought I could help?
-
Wilbur: I love you guys, you're the best thing that's happened to me.
Tommy: We're the best thing that's ever happened to you?
Wilbur: Yes!
Techno: I'm starting to feel a little sorry for you.
-
Tommy: *Screams*
Sapnap: *Screams louder to establish dominance*
Wilbur: Should we do something?
Karl: No, I want to see who wins.
-
Cop: You’re receiving a ticket for having three people on one motorcycle.
Phil: Shit.
Techno: Wait, three?
Cop: Yeah?
Tommy: OH MY GOD WILBUR FELL OFF!!!
-
Quackity, a Time Mage, about Tommy: Apparently we're getting someone new in the group.
Sapnap: Are we stealing them?
Karl: New or used?
Quackity: Wonderful responses, both of you.
-
Techno: Bianca, I'm sad.
Bianca Nihachu: *Holds out arms for a hug* It's going to be okay.
Tommy: Bo, I'm sad.
Bo Underscore, nodding: mood.
-
Karl: Name a more iconic duo than my crippling fear of abandonment and my anxiety. I'll wait.
Tommy: You and me!!!
Karl, tearing up: Okay.
-
Wilbur: I turned out perfectly fine!
Tommy: Wilbur, this morning you thought a ghost made your toast.
Wilbur: I DIDN'T PUT THE BREAD IN! YOU DIDN'T PUT THE BREAD IN!!!
-
Phil: Hey, you want some leftovers?
Techno: What's that?
Phil: You've never had leftovers???
Techno(grew up poor): No, because I'm not a quitter.
-
Tubbo: On a scale from "damn Daniel" to "fre sha vaca do", how are you feeling?
Ranboo: In between "it's an avocado, thanks" and "how did you defeat Captain America", but as a solid answer I would say "I don't need a degree to be a clothing hanger". How about you, Tommy?
Tommy: Probably "road work ahead".
Techno: I speak many languages, and this is none of them.
-
(These are for the sequel if I ever get around to it)
Wilbur, pretending to be General Soot of L'Manburg: What's up guys? I'm back.
Nemesis Nihachu: What the- you can't be here. You're dead. I literally saw you die.
Wilbur, sweating: Death is a social construct.
-
Tommy: You have to apologize to General Soot.
Wilbur: Fine.
Wilbur: 'Unfuck you' or whatever.
-
General Soot: I really like this whole 'good guy, bad guy' thing you guys have going on.
Wilbur: It's not an act, it's just that I'm mean and Tommy isn't.
-
Wilbur: I think we're missing something.
Tommy: Teamwork?
Techno: Cohesion?
Nemesis: A general sense of what we're doing?
-
Tommy: Have you seen a person named 'Technoblade' around here?
Antarctic Empire Citizen: Ugh, yes. He made a horrible mess of the blood fountain.
Tommy: It looks fine to me?
Citizen: IT USED TO BE WATER!!!
-
General Soot: How did none of you hear what I just said?
Tommy: I've been zoned out for the past two and a half hours.
Tobias: I got distracted about halfway through.
Nemesis: Ignoring you was a conscious decision.
-
Techno: Why is Wilbur so sad?
Tommy: He took one of those "Which L'Manburg-Era Historical Figure Are You?" quizzes.
Techno: And...?
Tommy: He got General Soot.
-
Tommy: Please, I'm begging you go to a doctor.
General Soot: I'm sorry is this OUR stab wound? Stay out of it.
-
General Soot, in a meeting: My policy is if you see something, say something.
Tobias: I saw a squirrel in a tree today!
Soot, with the tone of someone who is used to Tobias: Outstanding.
Soot: This is what I’m talking about people.
-
Wilbur: I'm 10 times funnier and sexier than you.
General Soot: 10 times 0 is still 0 though.
Wilbur: Joke's on you, I can't do math.
-
Tommy: Just be yourself.
Wilbur: 'Be myself'? Tommy, I have one day to win the L'Manburg soldiers over. How long did it take before you guys started liking me?
Tommy: Couple weeks.
Phil: Six months.
Techno: Jury's still out.
Wilbur: See, Tommy?
Wilbur: 'Be myself'. What kind of garbage advice is that?
-
General Soot: I'm an idiot.
Wilbur:
Tommy:
Nemesis:
Techno:
Soot:
Wilbur: If you're waiting for us to disagree, this is going to be a long day.
-
Nemesis: Whose turn is it to give the pep-talk?
Tommy: *sighing* "General Soot".
Wilbur, trying(and failing) to talk like Soot: Fuck shit up out there, but don't die.
Tobias: *wiping away a tear* So inspirational.

Sunday(a 7)
- So it's been a busy week. The mill called, and I'm now working 2 security shifts a week at the guard shack for a good wage. It's a start, and the CEO is talking January to commence the restart process. I've had 1 job interview that I crushed, one company that I really think would be a great fit hot on my heels, and another bridge job interviewing tomorrow. All of you sending your good energy, yall are making this road so much easier. Much love!!!
- in a related note, I'm also going in tomorrow to start my emergency substitute teacher application. My mom, who is a funny one, teaches locally and her words were, "you could work every day here and it'll keep you going". If nothing else, I'll be up and running with that by January, and between a couple nights at the mill and that, we will be just fine.
- H, being the squirrel she is, has come through with some $$$ for the house and I've never been more thankful that my partner is as committed to our goals as I am. I'm just glad, to be honest...
- I missed @jackiesayz when she was up here , and was so close by... H has been so sick, and the day I really wanted to get in touch we had to go to urgent care. She's fine now, thankfully, but I really wanted to meet up. Next time, and next time you and your sister are coming out for salmon!!!! (And for anyone else, that goes for you too!!!!)
- So 2 weeks ago, I finally saw my urologist and he literally was in the room for 5 mins. And the more I think about it, the more angry I become... Take a little time to listen to your patients, because if I'm telling you that it hurts to urinate but I don't have an STI and you still don't think anything is wrong with me? Yeah, I probably will go elsewhere.
- I almost got in 2 car accidents today, one of which almost ended up with a fight...
Tumblr media
Speeding in parking lots. Don't do it...
Anyhow, there have already been 2 house fires TONIGHT in my funny little town, one had a possible, and I'm going to blame the moon. People are just feral...
- my mom turns 65 in December, and it's kinda messing me up. Her parents died pretty young thanks to tobacco(and her mom could have prevented her stroke with some lifestyle changes), so it's hitting her too. I just would really like to have both of my parents to hang around so that both can be ancestors for Henry and not ghosts. I mean, for the first time, it feels like both actually respect the person I've become and am becoming. I just want them to hold on a bit longer... selfish, isn't it?
Anyhow, bless you if you are still reading this. I wasn't kidding when I said your thoughts and energy were helping. I'm gonna put on a little music, drink some water, eat a cookie, set the fawcet on a drip, then go to bed. Much love to you all, and peace be with you.

Friends in strange Places Ch. 6 Pt 2
What if Vlad was good instead of evil? Link to chapter 1:
Friends in Strange Places Chapter 1, a danny phantom fanfic | FanFiction
FANFICTION.NET
Summary: With a little encouragement from Vlad, Danny works up the nerve to tell his parents. Sam and Tucker realize they have some things to discuss.
Word Count: 8600
--------------------------------------------------
By the time Danny managed to get the thespian ghost into The Thermos and fly back home, Vlad had already left. Danny was disappointed to have missed him, but he did get a play-by-play of the entire visit from his parents over dinner.
"...and it turns out Vladdie hasn't had any luck designing an ecto-based adhesive either! But thanks to his input, we should be able to increase the efficiency of The Spectre Speeder tenfold!"
"That's fascinating Dad." Jazz deadpanned "So you and Vlad have been breaking the ice okay then?"
"Yup!" Maddie smiled "Oh, I'm so glad Vlad decided to open up to us. It's been so nice working with him again."
"Wow," Jazz said "Vlad sharing his secret with you two really seems to have made a difference in your relationship. Even if he was scared to do it, it certainly seems to have been worth the risk."
Danny glared at Jazz.
"You said it Jazzy!" Jack beamed, oblivious to the secret conversation between his children "Now that we know what's been going on with Vladdie all this time, we're closer than ever before!"
"You don't say." Jazz stared directly at Danny as she spoke.
"I'm done eating, I'm going to my room now." Danny pushed his chair back and began to walk towards the stairs.
"Sorry Danny," Maddie grabbed his shoulder as he passed her "You and your father are on dishes tonight."
"What? But I did them last night!"
"Yeah?" Jazz put the stack of plates in the sink "And who did them the last two nights in before that?"
"That was only because-" he'd had to leave halfway through dinner to deal with Skulker's newest (not to mention very destructive) 'toy'.
"Because what, Danny?" Maddie cocked an eyebrow.
"Nothing." Danny grumbled.
"See you in the lab, Hun." Maddie gave Jack a peck on the cheek "I want to get started on archiving today's data."
With that, she disappeared down the basement stairs.
"Come on, Danno," Jack gave the pouting Danny a pat on the back "The sooner we get this done, the sooner it'll be over. You washing or drying tonight?"
"I'll dry." Danny said. His father had an unfortunate tendency to put dishes away in the wrong places, and Danny did not feel like dealing with Jazz's complaining tomorrow morning.
"So," Danny asked as his dad handed him a plate "How are things going with Vlad? It's really not awkward with his whole, you know...'ghostly' situation?"
"Nonsense Danny!" Jack waved his hand "We barely even talked about it."
Danny wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
"I mean," Jack continued "We did sit down and discuss the situation when he first got here, but it didn't take long for us to get back into the swing of researching together just like old times. In fact, the data we collected today has given me a great idea for a new weapon! I call it The Fenton Ghost Gooer!"
"You're not like, married to that name, are you?" Danny scrunched his nose.
"It's gonna be great!" See, your mother and I haven't had much success with ectoplasmic based adhesive in the past, but after studying its behaviour at high velocity under varying degrees of impact force..."
Danny rolled his eyes. It could be so difficult to get his father to stay on a topic that wasn't whatever his latest ghost invention was.
"Dad, would it bother you if you saw Vlad using his ghost powers?" Danny interrupted his rambling.
"What do you mean, Son?" Jack frowned.
"I know you and Mom don't hate Vlad or anything for being half-gho-"
"Of course we don't hate Vladdie!" Jack made an offended expression "He's our best friend!"
"Yeah I know, but I mean like, wouldn't it wig you out to see him flying around or sticking his arm through something? Like, how'd you feel when you first saw him transform?"
"Well I suppose it was a little startling." Jack said "But Vladdie had only really told us about his powers less than a minute ago, so you can't really blame me for being shocked. Your mother and you kids were pretty shaken too, if I recall correctly. Heck, you and your friends barely said a word the whole drive home!"
"Uh...yup! That's right! Totally shocked!" Danny laughed nervously.
"But once your mother and I talked things out, and I got a good night's sleep to think it over, I was able to...what's the word Jazz uses? 'Process' the situation. Sure, it's a little strange that Vlad's got ghostly abilities, but the fact is he does and he's our friend, so we're just going to have to get used to it. Simple as that. The lesson here Danny is that when your problems seem too strange and impossible to figure out, get a good night's sleep. That's something my father taught me. Your brain does amazing things while you're sleeping. Can't tell you how many times I've gone to bed thinking I'd have to scrap some glitchy invention, only to wake up knowing exactly how to fix it!"
Danny wasn't sure he believed his dad. How could Vlad turning out to be half-ghost be so simple for him? Seeing your best friend using the same abilities as the creatures you've hated and hunted obsessively for years had to be a weird, right? Like, at least a little?
"What's got you asking about Vladdie so much anyway, Son?"
"Oh uh, no reason. Just curious."
Jack smiled softly at Danny and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Danny, if Vlad's ghost powers freak you out, you should know you have nothing to worry about. I know he might have looked a little intimidating when he fought that lake monster, but looks are just looks, and despite how Vlad might have looked, he's isn't actually a ghost, so-"
"Ew Dad, you're soaking through my shirt!" Danny pushed Jack's soapy hand off of his shoulder "And I'm not scared of Vlad. I haven't even been scared of ghosts since I was seven."
"Well that's good to hear then." Jack gave Danny's back a strong pat before resuming his scrubbing. "Because there's absolutely no reason to be afraid of Vladdie. And there's gonna be absolutely no reason to be afraid of ghosts anymore once I finish The Fenton Ghost Gooer!"
Danny smiled as his dad started to explain his latest invention.
If nothing else, Jack Fenton was genuine. If he said he didn't have a problem with Vlad's ghost powers, then he meant it.
So why was some small part of Danny still so hesitate?
--------------------------------------------------
"Aim left! Left!" Tucker cried.
Their entire view was obscured by an explosion before a metallic skull appeared on the computer screen with the words Game Over overlaying it.
"Okay, that might have been a little too left."
"Y'know," Valerie said "I just don't think this game is for me."
"Aw come on, you were way better that time."
"Was I?"
"I mean, you almost made it past level one. That's an improvement!"
Valerie did not look impressed.
"You know, I really thought your ghost hunting skills would translate directly to DOOMED. It's basically the same mechanics."
"What're you talking about? Aiming a real blaster is waay smoother then trying to line up your sight with that thing." Valerie pointed at the computer mouse like it was something offensive.
"Aw well," Tucker shrugged "Can't say you didn't try."
"Indeed." Valerie checked her watch "I'd better get going. Sorry DOOMED didn't work out."
"S'all good." Tucker waved his hand "I still got Danny and Sam to play with. We've got loads of other stuff we can try doing together."
"Alright, but I'm choosing the next date activity." Valerie smiled.
"Sounds good." Tucker frowned "Wait, this was a date?"
"I'm pretty sure this counts?"
"Oh, if that's the case, I feel kind of bad making you spend a date playing a video game you didn't enjoy."
"I mean, I did enjoy watching you freak out every time one of those robot bat things showed up."
"They suck up your health! It's imperative to get rid of them as fast as possible before they become too beefy! Sure, they're pretty harmless if you kill them right away, but it's insane that the developers put an enemy that's capable of getting so powerful at level one!"
"See that," Valerie smiled as she swung her backpack over her shoulder "That's weirdly charming. Now I really got to go. See you tomorrow."
"See you!" Tucker called back. Valerie had officially been over enough times that he didn't need to show her out anymore.
And now that she was gone, it was time for DOOMED with Danny.
--------------------------------------------------
Pow! Pow!
"Oh my gosh it's satisfying watching an enemy actually get hit." Tucker said over the voice chat. His parents had gotten him a mic set for his birthday.
"I take it DOOMED with Valerie didn't go well?" Danny's asked.
"Dude, she is so bad! Uh, don't tell her I said that."
"Ha ha, I won't. It's weird, though. Considering her ghost hunting skills, I figured she'd be great at this game."
"I thought so too, but nope! It was like that time we watched my little cousin play Mario at my eleventh birthday party."
"Ugh, why'd you bring that up? That was a genuinely painful experience."
"So was watching Valerie play!"
They continued to play in near silence for a while, only talking to warn each other of an approaching enemy.
Just as Tucker was getting ready to call it, Danny spoke:
"Thanks for hanging out tonight, Tuck. I think I needed this."
"Hey, no problem man. Is something going on?" Tucker asked casually. He very much knew that there was a lot going on with Danny, but he figured between Sam and Jazz, Danny didn't need another person smothering him.
That being said, Tucker was still worried about his best friend. He could hardly help it.
"I'm just stressed about telling my parents." Danny paused to blast an approaching spider "I know they're gonna accept me, but the idea of actually telling them is still pretty terrifying. I know it's not a big thing, just two sentences or whatever, but it still feels like the most monumental thing I've ever done."
"Honestly, I think that's pretty reasonable. I know you know they'll be cool, but this is still the biggest secret you've ever kept. Makes sense you're wigged out about finally letting go."
"Yeah, ha ha. I'll figure it out eventually, though. Hopefully. Anyway, one more round?"
"Sure thing Dude."
They were interrupted by the notification sound effect of another player joining.
"Hey, poetry slam ended earlier than I thought it would. You two still playing?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, but we're just doing one last round." Danny replied.
"That's fine. Still gives me enough time for me to hand you both your own butts."
Tucker was pretty sure he could hear Sam's smug grin through his headset.
"Don't think your victory's so assured, Sam." Tucker said "I've been working on a new strategy that'll knock your socks clean off!"
"Ooh! I'm shaking in my rank three crusher boots with bonus spike damage."
Despite Tucker's trash talk, he'd gotten used to losing a while ago. It was just fun to pretend he might one day outrank Sam.
Mostly he was just happy that Danny was getting a break.
...and also the opportunity to test out his new poison upgrade.
--------------------------------------------------
Danny sighed with relief as he dropped the last of the rags into The Fenton Washing Machine. Not all of the ectoplasm from his parents catapult experiment had made it into the The Containment Tank, and Danny still wasn't having any luck convincing Jazz to swap chores with him.
Danny had just turned the washer on when his ghost sense went off. With a loud groan, Danny turned and glared at the portal. He felt every muscle in his body relax when Vlad floated out.
"Do you somehow just know when I've just finished cleaning the lab?" Danny was too exhausted to muster up a polite greeting "If you're looking for my parents, they're actually out right now. My dad realized we were out of fudge after dinner, and he almost died when he saw we weren't stocked up on baking ingredients."
"I can practically hear Jack's panicked voice." Vlad grinned "But it's actually you I'm after." Vlad said.
"Oh. Really?"
"Yes. Although Jack and Maddie seem relatively comfortable with my ghostly side, I don't think it'd be a good idea to just fly into their lab through the portal as a ghost. I don't think I'm ready for that yet."
"Fair. How'd it go with them yesterday anyway?"
"Rather well, all things considered. Being so open about my abilities with them has certainly been a...mental adjustment after decades of secrecy and hiding, but as I said they really do seem to have taken it rather well."
"That's good to hear." Danny smiled. Hearing Vlad say that made him feel lighter inside. "So what'd you want to talk to me about?"
"I wanted to inquire about your plans to tell your parents about your accident." Vlad said. The lightness in Danny vanished "I assume you haven't already?"
"Uh...no, I...have not done that yet." Danny hoped Vlad couldn't tell how dry his mouth was.
Vlad frowned.
"You seem rather perturbed Daniel. Do you...not want to tell them?"
"I do!" Danny said quickly "Really! It just...never seems like the right time, I guess."
"You guess?"
Danny sighed.
"You know, things aren't terrible right now." Danny rubbed the back of his neck "I guess it's just...I don't really know what will happen when I tell them. I mean, I know they won't banish me to The Ghost Zone or dissect me or whatever, but things are going to..be different, you know? And honestly, that kind of scares me. I guess I was too busy worrying about what could go wrong to think about what would happen if things went right, so I really don't know what to expect."
Vlad's eyes softened with sympathy.
"As they say, misery is comfortable."
"What? No, that's stupid. I hate being miserable, everyone does."
"Daniel you just told me that a part of you would rather live in a house with two people who are trying to hunt you, surrounded by hazardous devices, than tell your parents about your ghost part."
"No, that's- I mean...huh."
"I do understand how you're feeling." Vlad said. "Now that your parents know about my powers, I was more than a tad nervous to come down here yesterday, and there is a reason I stalled telling them until the end of the trip. But, as someone who's been where you are, I can confidently say things are better now that they know. Even with all the unknown elements."
"I know things'll be better," Danny said "It's just so weird to think how much one little conversation can change."
"Things are going to change. It might be a bit awkward with your parents at first, I won't lie. The idea of being in my ghost form around Jack and Maddie still makes me...apprehensive, and I'm not sure I'll feel comfortable with it any time soon. For all I know, I may never."
"Well that's comforting."
"But I'm not scared of my best friends shooting me anymore, so that's a plus." Vlad grinned "Kind of outweighs having to deal with the awkwardness, if you ask me."
"Yeah," Danny laughed half-heartedly "I suppose it would."
"You want my advice? Tell them tonight."
"Tonight!?" Danny almost had a heart attack
"Yes tonight. Not telling Jack and Maddie sooner has been my biggest regret. You know you want to do this. Save yourself the unnecessary worry and just get it done."
Danny thought about it. He supposed Vlad's logic was sound, and if there was anyone he should listen to for tips on telling his parents they were half-ghost it was him, but the thought of doing it so soon made him dizzy. He knew he'd been stalling, but he needed a little more time to prepare than that.
"I'll do it tomorrow night." he said, sounding much firmer than he felt.
"Well I say never put off till tomorrow what can be done today," Vlad shrugged "But the decision is yours. Good luck Little Badger!"
With that, Vlad flew backwards through the portal, leaving Danny alone with his thoughts.
--------------------------------------------------
Tucker had to stop himself from cheering as the lunch lady finished scooping the casserole of the day onto his tray. In his opinion, it was insanely cruel of the faculty to schedule his biweekly PE period right before lunch. As if gym class wasn't long enough!
He quickly found Sam in their usual spot and took a seat across from her.
"Where's Danny?" Tucker asked before shoving a large spoonful of casserole into his mouth. It was tomato and ground beef with macaroni noodle today.
"Give you three guesses and two of them don't count." Sam replied.
"Ah." Tucker swallowed "Was it The Box Ghost again?"
"Nah, I'm pretty sure it was Klemper. Danny said something about frozen toilets."
"Ooh, maybe Danny should let him keep going for a bit! I think they have to cancel school if the toilets don't work."
"Tucker, broken plumbing facilities in a building with over five hundred people could pose a serious problem. Do you know how many students here have bladder issues?"
"Okay jeez, I was only joking."
There was a brief silence as the two of them started to eat their lunches.
"I really could've used you with Danny the other day, you know." Sam said "It's like you don't even care that your best friend's about to tell his parents the biggest secret of his life."
"What? Sam, of course I care. I'm worried about Danny too, but there's no point in pushing him if he's not ready yet."
Sam was about to angrily retort, but she stopped herself, the conversation with Danny replaying in her head.
Why was she so angry at Tucker? Sure, it was kind of annoying he hadn't backed her up, but she had to admit his logic wasn't totally unreasonable.
"I guess." she relented. It felt weird admitting Tucker was right so easily.
Wait, why did that feel so weird? They were friends, best friends. It shouldn't take so much restraint just to agree with each other about something so minor.
Danny was right. Something was wrong.
Not that it was all Sam's doing, Tucker could be annoying and insensitive. A lot of the time, in fact.
But was Sam maybe...not always interpreting his intentions in the best light? Just maybe?
A lot of mixed thoughts were going through Sam's head, but one thing she knew for sure was that if they wanted to fix what was going on, someone had to start somewhere.
"Hey, um, I just wanted to say I'm...sorry I teased you about Valerie so much. You told me to stop and I didn't, even though I should have."
Tucker blinked, completely taken aback by her sudden apology. It probably didn't help that she'd been giving him the gears less than a minute ago.
Admittedly, that might have been a weird place to start, but it was the first thing Sam thought of, and Sam was the kind of person who liked to start fixing a problem as soon as possible.
She just hoped Tucker wouldn't make fun of her apology for revenge.
"Uh...no hard feelings." Tucker said, his shocked expression morphing into a grin "In fact, since you apologized, and I'm such a gracious friend, I promise I won't make as much fun of you when you get your embarrassing first crush." Tucker winked and did finger guns.
Sam felt a flash of annoyance. Of course, Tucker didn't know she was aromantic, chances were he didn't even know what 'aromantic' meant, so Sam knew it wasn't fair for her to be mad at him.
Well, she had just decided she wanted to fix the kink in their friendship, and an important part of friendship was being able to trust your friends with your secrets...
"Actually...I don't think I'll ever get a crush." Sam said.
"Aww, come on. I know being gloomy's your thing, but I'm sure someday you'll-"
"No Tucker, I'm aromantic."
"Oh. Um, what's that?"
"It means I don't get crushes, and I'm never going to fall in love. Ever." Sam crossed her arms "And before you try to give me another pitying platitude, I'm actually quite happy with this development."
"Okay, but how do you know you'll never fall in love?" Tucker asked.
Anger burned in Sam.
"Ugh!" she threw up her hands "This is exactly why I didn't want to tell you!"
She knew this would happen! She knew Tucker wouldn't take her seriously! She knew he'd-
"No no no no wait, I totally believe you!" Tucker threw up his hands defensively "I just meant, like, how'd you figure it out? I'm sorry, I didn't realize how that would sound! I didn't mean it like that, I promise!"
The fire in Sam instantly died.
"You...really believe me?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
"Because people are never taken seriously when they say they aren't interested in romance. I've lost count of the number of movies I've seen where someone says they're happy being single, but by the end they've started a relationship with someone and everyone's acting like they're 'fixed' now." Sam unconsciously clenched her fists. She'd never realized that that trope bothered her so much until right now. "Plus you specifically never take anything I say seriously."
"What? Yes I do! What are you talking about?"
"Well you weren't exactly the most supportive of my menu update at the start of the year."
"Sam, you literally forced everyone in the school to change to a very niche diet. You gotta admit that's a little extreme."
"Okay fine, maybe that wasn't my best idea. But it feels like ever since then, you've never tried to help me with my world-improving projects. You don't even really listen to my ideas. Like, the world's on fire, and all my friends, family, and fellow students ever seem to want to do about it is laugh at me for trying to fix things!"
The passion in Sam's voice sobered Tucker's normally humorous attitude.
"I didn't think you cared what other people said about you." he said.
"I don't." Sam looked defiantly into Tucker's eyes "I'm an activist to try and make the world a better place, I'm not interested in this for personal glory." Sam gaze shifted away from Tucker's face and she crossed her arms over her body "But y'know, I...might care a little bit what my best friends say about me."
"Oh." Tucker looked away too. "I...I guess that makes sense."
There was a long silence.
"So...how did you figure it out?" Tucker asked "I mean, if you like girls then you figure it out by liking a girl and vice versa, but there isn't really a sign if you don't like anybody, so how do you know you won't like anybody ever?"
Sam raised an eyebrow at Tucker.
"N-not saying you're wrong about saying you're aromantic! Or that anybody else is! I'm really just curious, I swear! Actually you know what, you don't have answer that. I probably shouldn't have even asked."
Tucker proceeded to shove an entire handful of tater tots in his mouth. Sam was pretty sure it was to stop himself from rambling any more. It was a very Tucker thing to do. She might've laughed if Tucker's question hadn't been making her think so hard.
Sam wasn't offended by the question, she knew Tucker was a curious person who meant it genuinely, it was just a difficult question to answer.
"I don't know." Sam admitted "It just...feels right. I don't know how to explain it any better. The idea of not falling in love feels like it fits better than the typical romantic ideas everyone's always pushing, and like, when I read about some of the experiences of other aromantic people I've found online, it just feels so right. Like someone finally gets it. I can't really explain it much better than that, but I just know it's true that I'm not going to fall in love."
"I guess it's like getting a crush." Tucker mused "You can't really explain it, you just kind of know."
Sam frowned. She didn't think it was exactly like that, but she could see that Tucker was trying to be understanding. Not to mention she had just told herself she was going to try and be more civil with him.
"Uh, maybe." she said "Honestly, the idea was kind of weird at first, but the more time goes on, the more I actually really like knowing I'm aro. It's great. Figuring that out feels like scratching an itch I didn't even know I had."
"I definitely get that."
"You do?"
Tucker felt his heart skip a beat.
"I...think I might be bi." Tucker said.
"Yeah? Good for you." Sam gave Tucker a small but genuine smile.
Tucker felt his whole body relax.
Wait, why was he so relieved? He hadn't felt this tense when he was telling Danny or Valerie.
Maybe Danny was on to something about him and Sam...
"You okay over there?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, just uh, thinking about some stuff. You don't seem surprised."
"Tucker, remember the drive in Danny's RV to Vlad's cottage?"
"Oh yeah. I kind of hoped everyone had forgotten about that nightmare."
"I mean, I had planned on never mentioning it again ever, but I don't think I could forget it if I tried. But hey, at least I figured out my romantic orientation. So that's pretty cool." Sam shrugged casually.
"I wish I felt as confident about being bi as you do about being...what was it?"
"Aromantic. Aro for short."
"Aro, got it. I mean, I'm warming up to the idea of being bi, but it's been quite the adjustment for my brain. At first it felt like I maybe wasn't even allowed to call myself that."
"Why not?"
"I mean, I for sure do get crushes on guys sometimes, but it really isn't a lot of the time. I'm really mostly into girls, so sometimes it kind of feels like I'm trying to claim something I'm not sure I have any right to."
"So what? You gotta like 'this many' boys to be bi? And who exactly is checking that?"
Tucker laughed a little before continuing.
"Yeah, I know it sounds kind of ridiculous. I have been feeling more comfortable calling myself as bi the longer I've thought about it, but I still can't quite shake this feeling that at some random moment someone's gonna jump out and call me out on it."
"Don't worry," Sam picked up her milk carton and drained the last of it "If anyone even tries to imply you're not 'bi enough' or whatever, I'll just have a nice little chat with them."
Sam finished her statement by crushing the empty milk carton in her hand, all five of her nails leaving gashes in cardboard.
Tucker was going to laugh at Sam's joke, but the carton-crushing demonstration ad actually been genuinely intimidating (Sam was pretty good at being intimidating), so the noise he ended up making was somewhere between a laugh and a yelp.
Sam nearly jumped out of her seat.
"How did you even make that sound?" she asked.
"I don't know, and I don't think I could make it again if I tried."
Sam laughed.
It was actually really nice hearing her laugh like that. Tucker couldn't recall the last time Sam had laughed at one of his jokes.
That might have had something to do with the fact that a lot of his jokes were made at her expense.
Like, a lot of them.
Tucker honestly couldn't remember the last time he'd really gone out of his way to be nice to Sam. Not since the meat incident.
This was not a comfortable realization.
"Hey Sam," Tucker wasn't exactly sure how to say what he wanted to say, but he knew he had to say something "I'm sorry I haven't been taking you seriously lately. I know I haven't exactly been the best listener. Don't get me wrong, some of you ideas are insane and I want no part in them, but I'm gonna at least start trying taking them seriously now. I'll start taking you seriously, I promise."
Sam was slightly taken aback. She hadn't expected an apology from Tucker, and she hadn't realized how much she'd wanted to hear that until he said it.
"Wow," she started to say "I really-"
"Hey, sorry I'm late." Danny suddenly appeared and sat down beside Sam. Tucker genuinely wasn't sure whether they just hadn't notice him approach, or if he'd snuck in ghost-style.
"It's all good du-" Tucker paused when he noticed the apprehensive look in Danny's eyes "You okay? You look like something's up."
Danny took a long breath.
"Are you two free to come over tonight?"
--------------------------------------------------
Walking down the basement stairs felt like walking through molasses. Not because it was slow, but because each step seemed to take a monumental amount of effort. The journey was actually over surprisingly quickly.
Danny wondered if there was any way he could have lengthened it.
His parents hadn't noticed his descent, both of them deeply absorbed in...whatever giant metal contraption they were working on. Danny didn't really care right now.
He walked up to his parents and loudly cleared his throat, causing them both to snap their heads up.
"H-hey Mom, Dad."
"Hey Danny!" his father set his wrench down to wave at him "How was school?"
"Uh, g-good. School was good."
"Did you need something, Sweetie?" Maddie frowned, sensing his nervousness.
Danny rubbed the back of his neck.
"Um yeah, I kind of...have something to tell you. It's...about the accident I had with the ghost portal."
Jack and Maddie's faces immediately turned serious.
"Danny," Maddie said gently "
"Yeah, I know, I know. That's not it though. It's..."
Danny took a deep breath.
And just jumped in.
"It made me...like Vlad."
"Like...Vlad?" Maddie raised an eyebrow.
"Half-ghost. The portal made me half-ghost. I have ghost powers like Vlad."
There was a beat of silence. Maddie and Jack looked at each other briefly and turned back to Danny.
"Now Son," Jack smiled "I know you two both had ghost portal accidents, but there's no way our portal affected you in the same extreme way. Sure, maybe you've been having minor side effects-"
"That you should have told us about earlier." Maddie cut in sternly.
"What your mother said. But there's no way you could have been affected as drastically as Vlad. You don't even-"
Jack was cut off by two blinding rings of light splitting around Danny's waist, turning him into the ghostly version of himself.
The sight made both of his parents go slack-jawed.
Maybe it had been a bit much to transform without warning, but after weeks of stalling and months of hesitation, Danny had run out of patience.
"I'm half-ghost like Vlad." he repeated, summoning the rings and transforming back.
It was shockingly easy to say. Although walking down the basement stairs had been torture, once he'd started talking, it had felt weirdly natural to just keep going, like he was just telling them what score he'd gotten on a math test. Danny had expected more resistance.
Telling Jazz had been harder.
"Y-you really are like Vlad..." Jack's voice was almost a whisper.
Oh right, their reaction. The beating of Danny's heart instantly washed away the peace he'd been feeling.
This was actually much worse than telling Jazz.
"Y-yeah?"
"Danny?" Maddie's voice was strained "How long have you...been like Vlad?"
"Since the first day." I...walked out of the portal looking like that. I just managed to transform back before you and Dad came back."
"Jack," Maddie put a hand on the work bench to steady herself "I thought you said you tested thoroughly for any mutations or contaminations!"
"Of course I did, Madds! I did a DNA test and everything and couldn't find any indication of..."
Jack suddenly stopped talking. He and Maddie snapped their heads to Danny as if they'd suddenly remembered he was there.
"All those months..." Maddie pulled down her hood, revealing eyes filled with horror "Listening to us going on and on about capturing and dissecting ghosts...oh! No wonder you didn't tell us! You must've been scared half to death."
Danny almost laughed at his mother's choice of words, but he was still too tense to move. He knew his parents weren't going to hurt him, but for some reason he felt like he was in trouble.
"Oh, baby." Maddie wrapped Danny in a hug. She kissed his forehead and rubbed his back.
"Y-you guys aren't mad?"
"Mad?" his father said. "Danno, I don't blame you one bit. I'd have been scared out of my britches too if I was in your position and I heard my parents talking about ghosts the way your mother and I do."
He came over and wrapped his arms around Danny and Maddie.
"We love you kiddo." he said "And we're both so proud of you for telling us."
Maddie squeezed Danny harder.
Danny felt his muscles relax and his heart slow back to normal.
He'd done it. He'd really done it.
Honestly, Danny didn't know how he felt right now. It was weirdly quiet in his head.
But one thing Danny knew for sure was that it felt good to finally have to stop hiding.
This was good.
Danny smiled and hugged his parents back.
--------------------------------------------------
Sam, Tucker, and Jazz all sat at the kitchen table, none of them daring to speak. They'd all been counting the seconds since Danny had gone down the stairs. It had only been two minutes, but it had been a very long two minutes.
The only sound being made was Tucker tapping his knuckles on the table. Sam very much wanted to ask him to stop, but she also didn't want to be the first one to speak.
"Do you think we should go down and check on him?" Tucker asked, his hand finally stilling.
"I'm sure he's fine, just be patient." Despite her grounded words, Sam's anxiety leaked into her voice.
"Sam's right." Jazz said firmly "We're all worried, but this is Danny's moment, so it's our job to be his support and remain fluid enough to react to what he needs depending on which way the situation goes. The best way to do that we have to remain calm and-"
The basement door began to open. Jazz was on her feet in an instant.
"Where's Danny?! Is he okay?!"
"Calm down Jazz, everything's good. Great actually."
Danny's voice was light and full of joy. He didn't even sound annoyed at Jazz's excessive worrying.
Jazz's shoulder's instantly relaxed and she went over to stand by her family. Sam and Tucker awkwardly followed.
"So they...all know?" Maddie said, gesturing to the room.
"Yeah." Danny smiled "No more secrets."
Despite how nice a moment this was, it was also kind of an awkward one. Everyone appreciated how hard it had been for Danny to get here, and they were all feeling the relief, but the question of 'now what do we do?' went unspoken amongst them all.
"I...brought a cake." Sam said.
"Really?" Danny asked, surprised.
"Well, if you don't want it..."
"No, I definitely do, I just...why did you get a cake?"
"Well I didn't really know what the proper protocol was for when your best friend tells his parents he's half-ghost, but a cake seemed like, maybe appropriate?" Sam shrugged.
Danny went over to the white box on the table and lifted the cover.
"Congratulations On The Thing With Your Parents?"
"Tucker's was in charge of the writing."
"I didn't see you pitching in any ideas for a tasteful message that would fit on a cake and not attract suspicion from the cake decorator."
"My contribution was paying for the cake."
"Aw, that was such a lovely gesture, you two." Maddie beamed "Jazz, could you get the plates out? Let's serve this bad boy up!"
"I call the first piece!" Jack said.
"Now Jack, considering the occasion, I think it's only appropriate that Danny gets the first piece."
"Oh, alright." Jack smiled at Danny and patted his shoulder "I suppose that's fair. But I get the second piece, since I called it!"
"Jack..." Maddie said disapprovingly.
"Dad can have the first piece. I don't mind, I know how he gets." Danny said. He was just glad that things were still normal. Sure, his parents probably still had some adjusting to do, but they still saw him as the same Danny he was before, and that was big enough of a relief. "But I'm getting a corner piece."
Honestly though, Danny could've had to give away the entire cake and it wouldn't have killed his mood.
It was finally over. He didn't have to hide or make his friends lie for him anymore. Not to the people who mattered, anyway.
Danny continued to stare at his mom after she handed him a piece of cake and began cutting one for his dad.
He was still nervous abut what the future held for his family's dynamic, but for the first time he also felt excited to find out.
But for now he was just going to enjoy his cake.

"There's no such things as ghosts YN"
Isaiah, your best friend sighs taking a long drag from his cigarette
"But Is, I hear things at night, sometimes in the day when I'm alone too"
"You'll get locked up talking like that"
"Is, I'm being serious!" you practically yell at Isaiah "Tom said gran was a medium, could talk to spirits, Aunt Poll has a gift when it comes to babies and I'm hearing shit, what if I..."
"Ok YN, you are my best friend and I believe you every time you tell me something, but there's no such thing as ghosts. Now sit down and drink your drink" he nods towards the half full glass on the table. You sigh sitting down and taking a sip of your drink
"John used to tell me this story about a woman who lived in our house before us. She died because her husband murdered her and now she haunts the place. I swear I've heard her"
"It's just a story your brother told you to scare you and now it's worked"
"Who said I'm scared? You know what stay the night at the betting shop alone and then tell me ghosts aren't real"
"Fine" Isaiah groans.
"Blankets, water, food and a pillow" I show Isaiah the makeshift bed I have made for him "I'll be upstairs in my room if you need me to comfort you"
"Yeah yeah off you go YN I'll be fine" Isaiah tells me. I hold my hands in the air and walk out. I head upstairs and see Tommys light on, I knock it before walking in
"Hey Tom Is is staying over in the betting shop because he doesn't believe me that it's haunted"
"He's in for a long night" Tom chuckles. Out of all of my siblings he's the only one to believe me "goodnight YN"
"Night Tom" I close his door behind me and then into my room. I get changed and get into my bed.
I'm woken up in the middle of the night to being shuck
"YN, YN"
"What?" I reply to Isaiah annoyed
"You were right, there's a bloody ghost downstairs"
"Really? oh cool" I roll over so I'm not facing him
"I saw it YN, a woman. The story John told you is real"
"I know" I groan still half asleep
"YN can you come and look"
"Fine" I roll my eyes and slowly get out of bed. We walk downstairs and into the betting shop, there's nothing in there... at the moment "do you want to stay in the house? not that that's any better"
"Can I sleep on you bedroom floor" the lights then flick on causing Isaiah to scream as my aunt Polly is stood at the door
"Will you pair shut up. All I can hear is you freaking out" Polly points to Isaiah
"Sorry Poll" Isaiah looks down at his feet
"Bed, both of you" we both make our way to my room and I get Isaiah sorted on my bedroom floor
"Thank you YN"
"So do you believe me now?"
"Yes. I believe you"
"Good" I get into my bed "oh also if you wake up and there's a little boy in the room that's just...."
"Finn I know"
"No it's William, he had TB. Goodnight Is"
"Wait, what. You can't just tell me that and then go to sleep"
"I can and I will"
"But YN..."
"Shhh go to sleep"
"I suppose he got scared then?" I hear Tommys voice. I open my eyes and see my 3 older siblings looking at Isaiah on my floor
"At least he slept on the floor" Arthur comments
"Does he believe you now about the ghosts"
"Yes I think he does" I laugh getting out of bed
"You gonna wake him up?" John asks
"Na he had a bad night last night. Think William came to say hi" I walk past my brothers who all chuckles
"Poor lad" Tommy says as we make our way downstairs
"YN ghosts aren't real" Arthur sighs
"You sure about that. Maybe tonight I'll ask William to go say hi to you"
"Err no no thank you. No thank you William" Arthur shouts out looking around him
"I'm hungry, let's eat" I walk into the kitchen with my brothers following me
"Sleep well YN?"
"Like a baby. Is however I don't think got much sleep" aunt Polly smiled and gives me a knowing wink.

Let me show you... YouTube - chapter 1
Here is the beginning to why the fanfic is called like that XD I created a tag for the fanfic "twst LMSYY" for easier access.
Warning : no proof reading, I have no one to do that.
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
After what seemed to last 4h of deaf dialogue with the raven man, a few thing could be highlighted:
The child name was Yuu,
They were both from another world named Earth,
This was Twisted Wonderland like the game that Victoria played and used all her money on it,
Yuu was from Japan and Victoria was from France,
Yuu and Victoria were going to live in the Ramshackle dorm as janitors (like in the game),
Yuu did not know the game Victoria played.
Victoria was now at the entrance of the Ramshackle dorm with Yuu, both shocked by the state of the dorm. The building was in worse condition than what was shown in the game… If they wanted to live here, they needed to renovate it. A LOT.
While Victoria was looking at the headmaster going away with a spring in his steps, she began a small talk.
"So… Yuu… I am Victoria Devi like I said earlier. What's your age? You seem quite young."
"I am 15 this year but I still have a baby face. And you?" answered Yuu.
Victoria nodded. "I am 29. You are 15… It is young indeed… You should be playing with your friend, not be a janitor of some sort." She sighed. "We have long hours in front of us to renovate this place. Don't worry, I know how to do some stuff, I watched YouTube."
Yuu arched an eyebrow "YouTube? Are you sure we can do this with the help of… YouTube?"
Victoria laughed "oh trust me, I did many things with the help of YouTube. I learnt how to do my taxes thanks to it."
A noise was heard and made Victoria and Yuu jumped. It was…
"The almighty Grim is here !!!"
The cat.
After a few minutes of fighting where Victoria decided to not interfere, a cold hand touched her. Wait a minute there wasn't supposed to be anyone with Grim, Yuu and her.
She turned her head and saw a smiling ghost face. Victoria yelled on top of her lungs. "GHOOOOOOOOSTS"
She did forget about this detail. The prologue of the game was a long time ago for her, who was in chapter 7. Of course she forgot some details. The most obvious one.
The ghosts of Ramshackle laughed at her reaction. "The livings are always so funny" said ghost A.
Aaaand the battle scene with the ghost began. Yuu yelled their order to Grim so he could attack the 3 ghosts.
Yuu and Grim were, of course, victorious and like typical villains, the trio said a good "we shall win next time !"
Victoria thanked the duo from the bottom of the heart. She was too frightened to do anything, yet she was the adult in charge. She wasn't the bravest woman on the planet and it was proven just by this event.
Then Crowley came by and like in the game, there was the fight where he transformed himself into a ghost. Victoria had only one thought [grilled bird for tonight please…]
Once the whole “wow so cool you’re going to be a beast tamer *wink wink* Ok Grim can be here too. *wink wink* but you’re still janitors because why not ? Oh, I am so gracious” Victoria decided that the bird man needed a little… reminder.
“Yuu, choose your room, I have to speak to Crowley.” Yuu nodded and began their quest.
“Headmaster Crowley” mumbled the man.
Victoria closed the distance between the two of them “Listen to me little bird. I can understand that I am supposed to be a janitor, but they are still a child and they should learn. They have to go to class too”
“Or what ?” asked the crow.
Victoria had a sinister smile “I will make you understand the sentence “fiscal fraud”.“
The crow became flustered “Wha-what are you on about ?”
“I know a bribe when I see one.” Answered the lady.
“And how ?” asked the headmaster, not liking what the woman was implying.
“Bribe seminar from the lab I used to work for” shrugged the woman.
“...”
“And YouTube of course.” She smirked.

How about ♫ for Fuchsia and Steerpike? 💕
Oh you wonderful person <3
I chose to analyse the song below because follows their story in a perfect chronological order.
For my full Fuchsia x Steerpike playlist click the link.
I can analyse other songs for them as well (please please please ask for more)
Say When - The Fray
I see you there, don't know where you come from Unaware of a stare from someone Don't appear to care that I saw you and I want you
Tumblr media
And everyone is rising to meet you, to greet you Turn around and you're walking toward me I'm breaking down and you're breathing slowly You say the word and I will be your man, your man
During countless useless rituals which the royal Family is bond to attempt, people remember Fuchsia exists if only to pay respect and proper courtesy to a Goran. Fuchsia tolerates it as she was taught to. Her mind is not on them anyway. It’s on the last minutes of ceremony when deccurum will be less strict and she will be allowed short but exciting moments of talk with a certain kitchen boy, her clown of the clouds. His snaky face would never betray it, but she is the only one in the room he is craving to see as well.
We're coming close and then even closer We bring it in but we go no further We're separate, two ghosts in one mirror, no nearer
He seeks her in her solitude. He finds her mostly in the woods, singing made-up nursery rhymes to herself, spining her wild hair over her exposed shoulders from clothes that are too big for her. They speak, but barely talk. It seens like there is a bridge between them they can never fully cross. Even when she starts to agree to secretly meet him in the castle, the years of neglect or outright abuse and never knowing intimacy makes them both distrustful and cluesless on how to procced. Even Steerpike, who takes the most iniative, acts by-the-book on the rules of romance: flowers, poems, pets. A safe path to trade upon. A shiny garmet to distract Fuchsia from the otherwise lack of grace of her companion and vile nature that she is certain to spurn if she ever sees it.
They came from different worlds and yet were the same. He is a kitchen boy and she is a princess. By convenience they shouldn’t be together, but convenience always seems to work against them. The princess, in the most unpredictable way, is an outcast whom Gormenghast finds no use for and thefore is left to fed for herself. And although Fuchsia has not experience abuse like Steerpike has perse - as her material needs were being met - she was not cared for either. Unable to wear the crown for being a woman, she is worthless in the eyes of Gormenghast, and even her family makes her aware of it.
Say when and my own two hands Will comfort you tonight, tonight Say when and my own two arms Will carry you tonight, tonight
The first time Fuchsia embraces him it's by Nanny's grave. Estelle Daniel, Gormenghast’s producer, described the grave scene as follows:
"I think you understand in this scene that they actually do love each other. You know there is a real chemistry there. In a way, if Fuchsia were to have said, 'Look, let’s just get on a white horse and ride away from the castle together and just be lovers,' I think there are moments where Steerpike might almost have agreed."
Come across you lost and broken You're coming to but you're slow in waking You start to shake, you still haven't spoken, what happened
She asked to see beneath the mask, but turned away from him.
They're coming back and you just don't know when You want to cry but there's nothing coming They're gonna push until you give in or say when
He suffocates a cry after she leaves the room which he spend days decorating for her. Maybe it would feel good to cry, but after sucessfully holding it back for many years, he has forgotten how to. Remembering his purpose renews his resolve: "I'm gonna make them wish they were never born, or at least not born where they were."
Dr. Prunesquallor, Mr Flay, and his little lordship Titus are under his trail and soon everyone will know the real Steerpike and declare him a public enemy.
Now we're here, and it turns to chaos Hurricane, coming all around us Double crack throws you back from the window, you stay low
Everyone is talking about it. Steerpike, the snake - killed her aunts, and now Mister Flay. Steerpike, the runaway, is threatening the monarchy, her mother and brother. Steerpike, the rat - he is hiding in the dirts, in between the walls of Gormenghast. We must find him.
Turns out he is the one who finds her, by the window of her secret attic. This is where their story began and where it ends.
It all began with a man and a country Every plan turns another century Around again, another nation fallen Maybe God can be on both sides Of the gun, never understood why Some of us never get it so good, so good Some of this was here before us All of this will go after us It never stops until we give in
Jonathan Rhys Meyers described Steerpike's presence in Gormenghast akeen to being in The Truman Show: You can't get away. Most of you can do is control it. When Fuchsia and Steerpike dream of shaking these archaic walls or just being free from it, they are talking about fighting a strict unmoavable centuries old system of rigid hierarchy and nonsensical traditions that have made people living under it borderline eschizophrenic.*
*I know the characters over-the-top and theatrical manners can be seeing as such or as an artistic choice by the director, but I think it can be both
Barquentine tells the Queen herself that "even kings come and go - gormenghast remains". Gormenghast is an entity on itself, a giant monster and every character is in it's belly.
Steerpike could be the one to break the social order. He told her once he could not understand how there should be poor and rich. She dreamed of a shinny hero, she saw him now as a villain - he could be both. They can break the wheel together, because he is stronger now. With her, he is. For her, he is.
Thank you for your request <3

Genshin Men If They Had Playlists
Characters included: Childe, Zhongli, Diluc, Itto, Kaeya, Kazuha, Xiao, Venti.
Summary: Music that I think would be in these Genshin men's playlists! ( These are my opinions, it is completely okay if you disagree! )
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
Childe:
Definitely into more upbeat songs. Doesn’t listen often but when he does it is mostly when he’s traveling. His favorite is on his trips to and from Snezhnaya.
Dear maria, count me in - All Time Low
“There's a story at the bottom of this bottle And I'm the pen”
Check yes, Juliet - We The Kings
“Don't ever look back. They'll tear us apart if you give them the chance”
Kilby girl - The Backseat Lovers
“She's playing it cool but she's lying, better than I do”
Zhongli:
Again, not one to listen to a lot of music. He wouldn’t really have a variety of music in his playlists. He’d rather stick to the same 20 songs he knows.
Little Dark Age - MGMT
“Just know that if you hide, it doesn't go away”
Rhinestone Eyes - Gorillaz
“Now that light is so I can take. This storm brings strange loyalties and skies”
Arsonist's Lullaby - Hozier
“I knew that something would always rule me, I knew the scent was mine alone”
Diluc:
Definitely puts a playlist on while cleaning up after late night shifts at the tavern. Kaeya once convinces him to play during business hours. Venti made fun of his music taste so he never did it again.
King For A Day - Pierce the Veil
“You told me think about it, well I did. Now I don't wanna feel a thing anymore. I'm tired of begging for the things that I want”
Can You Feel My Heart - Bring me The Horizon
“I'm scared to get close, and I hate being alone. I long for that feeling to not feel at all”
ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? - Tyler, The Creator
“I can't stop you, I can't rock too, I've been back there and I can not die too. But I've got to know. Are we still friends? Can we be friends?”
Kaeya:
Enjoy’s listening on an everyday basis. He definitely imagines himself in songs. He’ll listen to recommended songs but refuses to recommend any songs to you. He’s a gatekeeper.
Ghosting - Mother Mother
“I've been ghosting, I've been ghosting along. Ghost in the world, ghost with no home”
What Do They Know? - Mindless Self Indulgence
“On the fence, The consequence. What do they know about that?”
Crucified - Army Of Lovers
“I saw eternal light. Best of vocal fighters. Beyond human sight. Where thorns are a teaser”
Kazuha:
Very wide variety of music. He’d listen to almost anything. Definitely has a smoking playlist that’s amazing.
Don’t talk to strangers - TV Girl
“You should've listened to your mother. Don't ever talk to strangers”
Come as you are - Nirvana
“As I want you to be. As a friend, as a friend. As an old enemy”
Hotel California -  Eagles
“Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door. I had to find the passage back to the place I was before”
Xiao:
Rarely ever listens to anything. If he is making a long journey he may decide to put a playlist on, barely gets through two songs before turning it off. He enjoys listening to others music interests.
The Other Side of Paradise - Glass Animals
“Bye bye baby blue. I wish you could see the wicked truth. Caught up in a rush, it's killing you”
Creep - Radiohead
“I don't care if it hurts. I wanna have control”
Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy - Queen
“Ooh, love, ooh, loverboy. What're you doin' tonight, hey, boy? Set my alarm, turn on my charm. That's because I'm a good old-fashioned loverboy”
Itto:
Very upbeat/fast pace songs. Mostly listen while working out/training. Him and the rest of the Arataki Gang have competitions of who has better music taste.
Televised - HUNNY
“I don't care to be or be caught without sweet misery by my side”
Teenagers - My Chemical Romance
“They could care less as long as someone'll bleed. So darken your clothes, or strike a violent pose. Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me”
Kiwi - Harry Styles
“Hard candy drippin' on me 'til my feet are wet, and now she's all over me, it's like I paid for it. It's like I paid for it, I'm gonna pay for this”
Venti:
Most of his playlists consist of very sweet songs, with a few slower/sadder ones. Has music playing quietly in the backgrounds of picnics. Would listen to anything once but usually sticks to the songs he likes and knows.
Hey Lover - Daughters of Eve
“Hey, hey, hey, lover (hey-hey), You don't have to have a thing. For I'll be satisfied”
This Side of Paradise - Coyote Theory
“You seem so lonely (are you lonely?) I'll be the only dream you seek. So if you're lonely, no need to show me. If you're lonely, come be lonely with me”
My Alcoholic friends - The Dresden Dolls
“I'm trying hard, not to be ashamed, not to know the name of who is waking up beside me. Or the date, the season or the city”

Second Chances - Part 7
You took Candice's advice to heart. You prided yourself in being an independent and strong woman. All this hiding and avoiding Bill is not who you are.
Tumblr media
One night you return home from working an event and you find Bill waiting, leaning against your front door. His beard is a little longer, he's dressed all in black. More disheveled than youre used to seeing him. His dark hair falling across his forehead. You freeze. "Don't even think about it. I can catch you." You walk over to him and he snatches your keys from you to open the door & ushers you in. He throws your keys on the side table where you left your bag.
"H...how did you get up here?"
"Fucking anyone could get into this building. Your security is shit!"
Bill is angry. You've never seen this side of him before. You move away to the fridge, "You want something to drink?" You offer him a bottle of water and he stares at you, looking like a dark angel. "Or maybe you want to tell me what you're doing here?" You take big gulps of water.
"You want to explain what the fuck is going on?! You can't answer my calls. Or call me back?"
"That was wrong of me. I apologize." You move to the couch, kicking off your shoes and curling into the corner. Looking up at him, "I made a mistake with us. I thought I could do casual...whatever this is. I can't. I should have told you sooner, but I didnt know how to."
"Bullshit! We were fine. Things were great!"
"No. You were fine. I wasn't. Casual relationships don't work for me. I gave it a try because I wanted to be with you. I dont want to do this any longer."
"That's why you stopped taking my calls." You look away but he takes your chin and tilts it up so you look at him, "Who said this would stay casual?"
You growl and shove his hands away from you. "Don't, Bill!" You stayed calm until now. "I was nothing more than a challenging hook-up! You won. You broke me. Congratulations! I let myself believe the fairytale I made up in my head. How could i not?" Waving around the studio, "Flowers, gifts, weekends together, playing house...I liked you. The more I got to know you, the more I admired you. You made me happy."
"Jesus Christ, Y/N! What are you talking about? From the beginning I told you I wanted to get to know you better. To see if this thing between us could be more."
"Have you ever felt...not enough? It hurts. When you face the fact that everything you are isn't enough." You see almost a micro-expression of pain cross Billy's face before it settles into anger. You whisper, "I saw you with her, Bill".
"Saw me with who??"
"You had every right to be with her. We are nothing. I had no claim to you. But it was the first time I realized that any time away from me, you were with other women. My stupid fairytale was nothing but crap!"
"Now I dont even know what you're talking about!'
"Senator Ellis' Fundraiser. It was my event. I was there." Bill backs up, hands braced on his hips with a droop of his head. You can almost see his brillant mind working on a Plan B. "She was beautiful. You held her hand. I saw you kiss her. You smiled the same smile you would give me. I didn't like it. I realized I don't like sharing and I shouldn't have to." You get up to put more distance between you. "I called you. I watched you check your phone and reject my call. You turned to her and shrugged like I was nobody."
"I'm sorry. I made that date before I met you."
"You don't have to apologize. You owe me nothing."
"I called you..."
"Probably after dropping her off at home with coffee and donuts like you did with me that first night." You choke on a sob when he doesn't deny it. You move further away from him.
"I don't want to stop seeing you. I've missed you, Y/N. You ghosted me & I had to resort to stalking & breaking and entering to get to you tonight. This is not normal for me!"
"If that's an invitation to stay in your harem, I respectfully decline," trying to make light of it as you brush away your tears. "You keep doing what makes you happy Bill. You deserve happiness. You're an amazing man. There are women out there who are more than happy to settle for 1 or 2 nights with you. I've come to the realization that unless it's mad, passionate love, I dont want it. There are too many mediocre things in life. Love shouldn't be one of them."
"You don't think what we have is mad & passionate?" Bill rushes you, clasps your face between his hands & kisses you. Your hands fist in his shirt & you savor his kiss, his taste, the feel of him.
"Sweetheart," he breathes thumbing away a tear.
You slip away from him just as breathless, "That's attraction. Not love. There's a difference."
"What do you want from me?!" You flinch at his tone.
"There's nothing I want, that you can give me. I want to be enough. There's a man out there who won't find me lacking. I'll be enough to make him happy. He won't need others. He'll never make me question if I'm enough. I know the 'powers that be' wouldn't be so cruel to have made me the happiest, with someone who doesn't want me."
"So that's it. You've decided. I don't have a say in this?"
"Unless you have something more to offer me than a membership into the Cult of Russo," you shrug. "Its for the best. We dont feel the same about each other. I don't want to share you."
Billy turns to the door to leave. It feels like your heart is being ripped out all over again. You follow him to lock up. He kisses you on the forehead. "I said this was a mistake, but I don't regret a minute of it. In the end, I may not have you, but I'll have the feeling of you, for the rest of my life, Billy." He doesn't say anything. You watch him walk away. He never turns back.

Achilles Castle part 90
Lemonade and lies PART 33
Alexis: pov me and Dave are heading to the loft after school so we can start on dinner because we get out of school before Kate gets off work. Papa Jim is also coming over tonight. Me and Dave stop at the store on the way to the loft.
Dave: pov at the store I grab some lettuce, croutons, tomatoes and dressing while Alexis is grabbing some pasta, sauce, ground turkey meat, garlic bread and a vegetable. After grabbing some drinks and desserts we check out and head to the loft.
Alexis: pov I start boiling the water while Dave makes the salad and garlic bread. I'm going to use turkey meat in the meat sauce so that everyone, including Kate, can eat it. The vegetables Dave is going to put in the oven to roast while the bread cooks. Gram arrives home and helps us by setting the table and pouring the drinks.
Martha: pov Katherine and Richard are now home, how was your day. Didn't you have therapy Richard.
Castle: pov yes mother it went well, Kate is sitting on the sofa relaxing until Dinner. Someone is knocking on the door. It must be Jim. Alexis says dinner is ready and everything looks amazing to me. The wii in the living room can be used to look at the photos and videos since they are on an SD card.
Jim: pov once we all have our food Katie starts talking about how her day went and how great Castle is doing at therapy. I help carry the dishes to the sink, Alexis is helping her dad get the box with the SD card and stuff from when Katie was injured. Castle turns on the wii and puts the SD card in. I have no idea what Alexis or Dave will need for their project. I'm going to explain the photos and videos to them both to give them more context.
Kate: pov the first photo is me unconscious in my hospital room in the CICU with machines keeping me alive, It's a hard image to look at. I'm starting to have a flashback, and can feel myself start to hyperventilate. Castle tells me it's okay , you're safe and to sit on his lap so he can calm me down. I'm rubbing my chest without realizing I'm doing it. He is talking to me, taking my mind off the photo. Having Castle rub my back is starting to calm me down and make me feel better.
Jim: pov Katie spent a week unconscious in the CICU with a machine breathing for her, they removed the breathing tube after a week once she was more stable and her lung was doing better since it had collapsed due to the injury.
Alexis: pov Kate are you okay because you're rubbing your chest. Kate says she is fine. I think it's just a nervous thing of hers she does now since she got shot. You can kind of make out what looks like there is a person in the photo near the bed holding Kate's Hand. Jim says no one was in the room, only him and Katie. I point to the spot where it looks like a person, possibly a woman is holding her hand. Jim looks like he just saw a ghost.
Kate: pov Dad that does look like a woman could that be mom. I don't believe in that type of stuff but could it be possible? He says he would like to think it's her watching over you. While I was dying I think I did see mom. The next one is me awake and more alert in the CICU. I look rough.
Jim: pov Katie was awake by this point, she still had the chest tube in which was draining fluid.
Alexis: pov The next one looks like Kate has less wires, papa Jim says it was taken after her chest tube was removed. That wasn't pleasant to watch. There are a few more photos of Kate in the hospital. The one of her scars/stitches without the bandages are hard to look at.
Dave: pov Jim also says he has her echocardiograms on other disks since the cardiologist gives them to you on a different disk every time you go.
Castle: pov the photos are Kate at her father's cabin in her wheelchair holt monitor very much visible. Alexis asks what that thing on Kate is in the photos.
Kate: pov you mean that gaudy holt monitor I hated that thing. I was constantly tangled in the cord and it would beep so loudly. Dave asks what the reason for it was. Well Dave it's a type of heart monitor, they needed to keep an eye on my arrhythmia. I was having a lot of it during my recovery.
Jim: pov we had someone who was a type of home health nurse stay at the cabin with us for a couple of weeks after Katie was injured, she helped with taking care of Katie and making her special food. It would have been hard for anyone to do it by themselves with her type of injury.
Martha: pov Most of the photos are Katherine in her wheelchair. She seems to be in a lot of pain in the photos. Two of the photos are of Katherine's injuries without a bandage. I can tell it's hard for her to watch this stuff, same with Jim.
Jim: pov I explain this video was taken at physical therapy and someone else was filming saying I might want to remember this moment. It's Katie's first steps, I can feel the tears starting to fall.
Kate: pov dad are you okay, he says yes i’m just so happy you are alive. I'm now starting to cry, I sit next to my dad and hug him. I put his hand on my chest so that way he can feel that I'm alive. Once me and my Dad both have calmed down we continue with the photos and videos. To be continued. ………
