Your yearly reminder that if you can’t get a nice book edition, then you totally can just print off another cover lol. It will look slightly more pleasing (from afar) and that’s enough for me for now 📕♥️

If you‘re a Cymraeg speaker/ learner, can you please recommend me some learning resources. I‘ve been using the Quick Start course on Transparent Languages (free with a library card – check it out!) but I‘m coming to the end of it and there’s no Upper Beginners or owt like that as far as I can see. Basically if you know of anything free that isn’t Duolingo or completely ruined by AI, please let me know! Diolch ♡

so, I'm not really sure how many people this might help, but I just HAD to talk about this because it's amazing. there's this book called "Stories from Welsh History for Standard III" by Owen Morgan Edwards. not sure about apple books??? idk what iphone uses lol, but on google books, it's free (at least in canada). it's a great book in my opinion, with interesting, simple stories with the translation in English on the next page. it has some key vocabulary at the top of each story in case you get stuck. really good resource, hope it helps!

ok, this is super silly but i've been wanting to start learning a new language and i'm having a hard time deciding which one
soooo, i'm asking y'all to help me :)
here's the poll with all the languages from my wishlist (yes, i have one). my reasons for considering each language (as unserious as they might be) will be below. i've been considering polish, dutch or norgewian, but you can choose whichever you like most
reasons (very unserious):
polish: poland is close to my country so i might immigrate there (but also i like consonant clusters hggfdfg)
czech: don't remember why i put it on the list but i guess it looks fun
norwegian: norway looks like a great place to live
danish: north germanic languages are my favourite now (the same applies to norwegian)
dutch: seems to be a fun addition to my german (i guess germanic languages in general are my favourite)
scottish gaelic: because of a character from 1960's doctor who. also i love endangered languages (and struggling to find resources is my hobby)
welsh: long words mhuahahaha
romanian: i collect romance languages like pokemon
greek: the letters are cute ngl
korean: the same as greek + asian languages are fucked up and i enjoy suffering, apparently
let the chaos begin. the possibility of making me suffer is in your hands.

Digital diary 2025.06.16.
I rewatched Submarine the fifth time while organising my Submarine (2010) folder. I read yesterday on letterboxd in spanish that Craig Roberts only plays autistic characters. Which think of Robin and Oliver because, they both very unintentionally autistic-coded. I just found out Jamie Dornan has a belfast accent. It always surprise me when I realise Christian Grey is played an Irish man. I learning about Yorkshire accents and drawing. Tomorrow I will have english class and study literature. I was watching Gavin and Stacey and found a familiar face Jordana's mum and Emma from Being human, Melanie Walters. When I first hear her in Submarine I thought that's a she has a nice Yorkshire accent. Later I realised she is welsh. I love her.
Feeling:Nervous 😣

Hi! I'm new to langblr and learning a few languages.
Native language: USAmerican English
Semi-fluent in: Spanish/Castilian
Intermediate-beginner in: Japanese
Beginner in: Chinese
Absolute beginner in: Irish (Gaelige), Welsh, Gaelic (Scottish Gaelic), Scots, and Lushootseed (Twulshootseed/txʷəlšucid)
I'm also learning British English!
Languages I'd like to one day study include: Hebrew, Russian, and German
I am focusing primarily on Japanese and Spanish
Some things about me:
I prefer he/him pronouns and masculine terms in English
Any gendering is fine in other languages! I still primarily use masculine (like masculine pronouns or terms), but anything is fine.
I'm intellectually disabled and have learning disabilities, which can greatly impact my ability to learn
I love to talk! Feel free to send asks or messages if you want to practice languages with me!
If I make a mistake and you notice, correct me! I won't take offense
I follow and interact from @verdantmeadows
I'm definitely a nerd and not super organized so I apologize for not having that super gorgeous aesthetic look to my blog and any notes I post
Other stuff under the cut
This is intended to primarily be a langblr, but it may also double as a studyblr. I'm studying:
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
English for college placement test
Math for college placement test
Driving
Music theory
Penmanship/calligraphy

A grand return to Tumblr
Not been on here since about 2012 and... it seems a fair amount has changed, at least on the surface. WDYM my blog isn't opening in a new tab?!
Anyhoo I've decided to try making a #langblr #bookblr #studyblr blog to track my language/reading/study progress. I'll mostly be posting TL (target language) reading updates and summaries of notes from uni. I might include mental health recovery updates (including ED recovery) but they'll be tagged separately so you can block them. Can you still block tags? (Hopefully!)
NOTE: Pretty much all my book updates will contain spoilers, so if you see a book you're interested in in the title of a post you may want to avoid reading it.
A bit about me...
I'm 27, he/him ??, Welsh
I know English and I'm learning Welsh and Polish
my fave book genres are general literary fiction and horror
first year part-time online English Language student - will probably add on French or German next year
I have like 12 mental illnesses :( and am disabled by them
... that's probably everything I'll post about

sunday 31st january 2021
it’s been a while since my last update:
still very behind on art, still very stressed, still hating life, I got a B on my biology test which I would be fine with except I thought it was the easiest test and I had done excellently (yeah I was disappointed), predicted a B in chem which isn’t so great for a future med applicant.
I’m a little nervous ngl I’m juggling at lot of things: lessons, tests, supercurriculars, extracurriculars, breathing, relaxing, hobbies, my mental health.
it’s all been uh hell. but I’ll be fine in the end :D

❀𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒚𝒃𝒍𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐❀
Hi there! My name is Phi, I’m from the UK and I’m currently studying a Linguistics and Languages degree. My dream is to become a Speech Therapist (also an author, translator and language teacher on the side - I have a lot of dreams, and most of them are about words!) ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
why have I made this blog?
Since I am a distance-learning student, it can sometimes be difficult to find the motivation to study so I really hope this blog will hold me accountable and keep me productive.
I also really admire the studyblr & langblr communities and hope to make some friends who are similarly passionate about all things languages! ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
what languages will I post about?
Languages I speak/ am currently learning:
♡ English (Native/ C2)
Posts will be tagged #English and/or #english resources
♡ Castilian Spanish (intermediate to advanced/ B2 -> C1)
Posts will be tagged #castellano and/or #recursos castellano
Please note: I refer to the language as Castilian/ castellano instead of Spanish/ español out of respect for the co-official languages of Spain and also to recognise the language’s divergence from its Latin American variants
♡ German (Beginner/ A2)
Posts will be tagged #Deutsch and/or #deutsche Ressourcen
♡ Modern Greek (Beginner/ A1)
Posts will be tagged #Ελληνικά , #Ελληνικοί πόροι , #greek and/or #greek resources (this is to make navigation easier for those without a Greek keyboard enabled
♡ Welsh (Beginner/ A1)
Posts will be tagged #Cymraeg and/or #adnoddau Cymraeg
⭒ I will make posts expanding on my background with each language soon ⭒
Languages I hope to start studying soon:
♡ Russian
My friend and I are going to begin buddy learning Russian in July 2025 and I can’t wait!
♡ Catalan
I’m so excited to learn Catalan but, given its similarities with Spanish, I don’t want to confuse myself. So I intend to start learning it when I have finished my degree in May 2027!
⭒ If you have any questions or advice for me based on these languages, please don’t hesitate to drop me an ask or a message ⭒
Other languages I’m interested in (warning: there’s a lot):
♡ Irish, Scottish Gaelic, Scots, Cornish, Manx, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, Dutch, Italian (especially Sicilian), Cherokee, Navajo, Guarani, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Korean, Yiddish, Hebrew, Bengali, Basque, French, Monegasque, Portuguese, Arabic, Ladino, Old/ Middle English, Hawaiian, Cantonese
What are my other passions?
♡ Books and poetry (I have a book blog @phireads if you’re interested)
♡ Writing
♡ Fibre arts (mainly knitting, crochet and sewing - though I really want to try embroidery and beading)
♡ Baking
♡ Reading
♡ Language conservation
♡ Wildlife (especially British, especially birds)
♡ Period Dramas
♡ History (with a focus on fashion history)
♡ Classics (as in Greco-Roman, my study buddy is a marble bust of the Greek poet, Homer, who is the namesake of this blog)
⭒ That’s all for now, I’ll be regularly posting study content at the end of September with the start of the academic year. So excited to meet you all! ⭒

Bisexual - Deurywiol
Transgender - Trawsryweddol
Pansexual - Panrywiol

Tumblr media
All the information on this post has come from Stonewall, who's page has more terms than what I'm sharing here. Please take a look if that interests you. Also, feel free to share any additions or corrections! <3
